This summer, during a summer camp, our son informed us that he was attacked by another boy in his group. Naturally, as concerned parents, we were horrified and immediately contacted the school. The school informed us that they were aware of the incident but reassured us that our son had confronted the bully and successfully defended himself. While we don’t support unprovoked aggression, it gave us so much comfort to know that our son could handle the situation and defend himself when needed. This is a testament to the excellent coaching at N12, from professor David and all the coaches. They consistently train our children with not only the skills to succeed but the confidence to apply those skills in real-life situations when necessary. Fantastic experience: Our 7-year-old boy has been training at North12 Martial Art Academy since November 2021. For over two years, things were difficult because he did not enjoy BJJ at all and often asked to stop. He did not see the point of BJJ and complained that the training made him feel exhausted. I had to use reward tactics to incentivise attendance, as I am convinced that BJJ was the best martial art for him at that stage of his life. I am glad that we stuck with it. In the past few months, our son has stopped talking about wanting to quit BJJ. He understands better some of the reasons why we encouraged him to stick with the training in the first place. He has told us instances at school where using what he’d learnt during training came in handy. His endurance, concentration, and self-esteem are definitely improving. We will continue attending the same Academy. Why? North12 is the best place for our son to grow and develop. We love the energy, the ethics, and the welcoming environment of the Academy. Safety is never compromised there. The place is always clean, pleasant and feels comfortable to be in. Master David and his team of coaches are experienced, supportive, enthusiastic, and often quiet funny. As parents, we also love the fact that the children are often reminded of the importance of using BJJ in a safe and responsible manner as not to be the bully or the one bullied. What else to ask for? Fantastic experience: Can’t rate this dojo highly enough…I am 51 and have been training here for over a year… I have to say North12 is run like an outstanding school. Students what ever their age, what ever their ability feel safe and welcome here. The progress by us the students is remarkable and evident even in one lesson. The facilities are great, well maintained and most importantly for a dojo spotless clean. With any school, staff are the most important asset. The coaches here are nothing but exceptional. Their love, passion and experience for their individual areas of expertise pours into lessons and inspires the students to be better, to try harder and to practice beyond the dojo walls. The camaraderie between students and with their coaches is heartwarming and rare in in such an adrenaline fuelled environment. None of this is possible without a the professor. Like any great head teacher, he not only has a vision of how to create an outstanding dojo but that vision is shared and backed by experience, expertise and his own great deliver of lessons and constant visibility and quality assurance. Cannot recommend North12 highly enough. Sorry to make this sound like an Ofsted report… but at the end of the day this is a school with the capacity to transform lives.

Fantastic experience: I'm a purple belt and I've been training at North12 for over a year now. Coming in as an experienced student, I have learnt more in the past year here then I have since I started training Jiujitsu. Amazing coaches with world class teaching ability and technical knowledge. Very clean facilities, spacious and well maintained. The level of the students is also very high, on average the most technically advanced individuals I've ever trained with, across the board from White belt up to Brown belt; Which is a clear reflection on the coaches and their teaching abilities. I would recommend North12 to anyone; from complete beginner to black belt.

Fantastic experience: I thought I would wait 6 months before I left a review. My son aged 6 started BJJ back in January and all I can say is his confidence has been built so much. He is quite a shy boy but he really looks forward to these lessons and I feel like it pushes him out of his comfort zone. Coach David and all the other teachers are all respectively fun and well disciplined. There are hard rules there for young children to follow but David does such a good job at balancing that with humour and keeping the children laughing! I really do recommend this club for children and I’m sure the adults classes are probably equally as fun!

Fantastic experience: I joined up recently for my own training and for that of my 10 year old daughter. I intend to train standup and bjj with some weapons. My daughter will be focusing on bjj. I chose North12 because Guru David Onuma has a reputation of being one of the best martial arts instructors in the world. He is skilled to an expert level in most disciplines. ( I trained sticks with him over 10 years ago and remember how adept he was) I didn't know at the time he was a European bjj champion! He is an excellent teacher and particularly with the kids bjj where he is able to communicate on their level. I liked how he taught a concept recently to the kids about superheros. Whilst talking about Thor he also spoke of wonder woman whom the girls could relate too making them feel included. My daughter actually dreaded her first lesson and insisted she wouldn't train for more than a lesson. Now she goes to training with a smile on her face looking forward to developing her skills. I also like how guru David teaches kids discipline and good behaviour at the dojo that can be taken into their daily lives. Some kids can sometimes get told off too if they don't pay attention or are unruly but this is handled softly and with respect by the trainer's. I can't recommend the club enough and thank guru David for his fantastic sense of humour and expert teaching. He really is one of a kind. The dojo is also fantastic. Go visit.

Fantastic experience: I joined this martial arts gym about four years ago. Previously, I been using many other Mma gyms, and by far this has been the best. Firstly, what I like the most is attention to cleaning and hygiene. After each class, mats are being cleaned. It’s very important as classes are demanding and you will sweat heavily. Because of that chances of contracting any diseases are low. Toilets and shower room are also spotless at all times. There were few occasions where students left it dirty, but response from the owner to that behavior is address straight away. Secondly, quality of training very high. Head coach David, is very particular with high attention to details and offers many years of experience. This definitely contributes to fantastic and quick improvements in your martial arts journey. All other coaches are hand picked by owner and only represent his way of delivering high standards. There is plenty to choose from when it comes type of classes. It’s all depending what you as an individual is looking for. You can pick from ground martial arts like Brazilian jiu jitsu in kimonos or without, there is striking classes like kickboxing or JKD. You can also learn knife fighting by joining Filipino stick fighting class. Thirdly, there is plenty classes during the day. If you are busy, you can start a class before going to work at early morning or drop kids to school and attend lunch time class and of course plenty of evening classes too. It gives you flexibility of going anytime you want despite having busy week. And last but not least, the atmosphere in the gym is fantastic and very friendly. Head coach David doesn’t tolerate any type of bulling or bad behavior. I made many friends in there over the years with people from all type of background. Everyone in the gym always try to help each other and avoid hurting. After training in there for about two years I have even put my trust in coach David by putting my kids into kids jiu jitsu self defense system he provides. My kids love the classes and they very popular. Overall, I love North12 and love learning self defense there. Highly recommend to anyone, regardless if you want learn self defense of simply lose some weight and find place to distress yourself from everyday demanding life.

Fantastic experience: I've been in many gyms in my life and this is the best I've ever encountered. Just amazing quality of coaches: they are all incredibly knowledgeable, always pushing your limits. They are very polite and at the same time demanding which is very hard to achieve. On top of the great staff, all students are very friendly and the gym has great collaborative atmosphere. Also, great selection of classes: various types of bjj and kickboxing. Few things to improve: - there seem to be no punching bags so kickboxing is a bit one-sided with a focus on friendly sparring. This is minor since sparring is usually better than working on bags all the time. - very small changing room with quite tight schedule and number of people, so its always quite tricky to change

Fantastic experience: I joined North 12 nearly 1 year ago after hearing about it from a friend. I'd had the thought of doing jiu jitsu for some time but never had the courage to do anything about it until my friend told me about the club and how great it was and how awesome the team are. After hearing that I thought I had to give it a go and am so glad I did. I've enjoyed every minute of it and there are so many different classes you can get involved with. Fantastic experience: David has been teaching me BJJ and Kali for the last 2 years. He really is a unique teacher, he is able to break through the mystery and some times the chaos of martial art movements. He does this with his unique skill of identifying the concepts and breaking down the essential skills required to make the technics easy to understand even for beginners. It his professional approach (formerly being a successful lawyer) that makes for a refreshing environment to go do what we love.

Fantastic experience: I have been training at N12 since August 2018 and it is one of the best dojo’s I have trained at. The facilities are clean and spacious. The Professor and his team of Coaches are excellent and provide encouragement and training to all the students with structured learning and a curriculum. There are an array of martial arts to train including BJJ, No Gi, kickboxing, mma and Filipino stick fighting. I would highly recommend the Dojo and no I’m not getting paid for the advert!

Fantastic experience: I can’t express enough what a great Academy this is to learn and grow. Whether your are a beginner, an intermediate or advanced the training here caters for all. The training is fun as well as serious - all done in a friendly and welcoming environment. I have been studying the Filipino art of Jeet Kune Do and have also attended the wrestling classes as well. I look forward each week to learning something new as well as keeping fit - training hard can be fun especially with the team that they have there. The coaches are excellent and very knowledgable from both a technical standpoint but also for what works in real life situations. I would highly recommend this academy to anyone interested in learning or developing their martial arts skills as well as their general well being. Give it a try - you won’t be disappointed !
