Karatekidshemel: Opinions
Fantastic experience: This is a well established training group for all ages of karate training. Discipline and progression in a students ability, are key here. Thoroughly recommended.
Thank you
Fantastic experience: Fantastically consistent results with adults and children, brilliant club!
Thank you for your kind review
Fantastic experience: My Daughter, M, has been attending classes at Apsley for the past two years. I have to say I like the traditional teaching style, as someone who studied martial arts as a child, I believe it helps builds character and discipline that will serve the children long into the future. I wish you all the very best. OSU.
Thank you
Fantastic experience: Shihan Chris and Sensei Marie run a brilliant karate class, delivered in, what I expect, a traditional Japanese style which focuses on discipline and perseverance. Shihan Chris can be strict but he is firm but fair, which I believe is integral learning karate. Both my children have been attending class for the best part of two years and love learning new techniques as well to count and speak Japanese. They have grown massively in confidence since they started so if your child lacks in this area I throughly recommend Sasori Karate Dojo!
Thank you for your kind words
Fantastic experience: I have had 2 children go thru the karate kids family, first with my son at just under 30 years ago, so imagine my surprise to find the same instructors still with the dojo when my daughter joined over15 years later! Dedication and passion runs deep from the instructors with this traditional syle of karate. My daughter spent many years from a beginner to then gaining her black belt. Chris and Marie taught her strong skills, and this takes many years to develop. So much so that on starting uni this year, karate was her first society to join as she feels the impact of karate helping her mental wellbeing is also helping her focus well on her studies. She cant wait to come back to her home club at the end of the uni year.
Thank you. We miss her and look forward to seeing her at the end of the academic year
Fantastic experience: My son loves this class and the instructors are fantastic with rhe discipline and encouraging the children to perform their best. We look forward to going every week.
Thank you
Fantastic experience: Our son is really enjoying these classes, the teaching style finds the right balance between disciplined and fun and we are seeing his confidence grow each week. Would recommend these classes to others.
Thank you - we’ve seen such progress in the few weeks he has been training
Fantastic experience: My son really enjoys his classes. He has grown in confidence.
Thank you
Fantastic experience: My son loves it, he is working towards his black belt.
Thank you
Fantastic experience: We have been a part of this dojo for around 10 years, both of my children have achieved their black belts in this time and one continues to train. The teaching is excellent and although the technique styles are spoken in Japanese the kids eventually learn what they are and mean. There is discipline and etiquette which I think is fantastic. My kids always come home happier after the class. Would highly recommend!!
Thank you
Fantastic experience: I have been a member of the Karate Kids dojo for 20 years my children have had a wonderful time being members and participants at the club. The club has help inform me in achieving and conducting myself with principles of kind and thoughtful focus. This has lead me to achieving a Sandan black belt level (3rd Dan) The club is extremely child focussed and dedicated to providing children and young people with a great experience and life skills from the structure of a Karate do training which looks at the ‘whole child’ and not just learning a martial art. 5 start top club
Thank you
Fantastic experience: Fantastic teaching style, hugely engaging and varied interactive classes, all taught under a extremely welcoming and friendly atmosphere across both the students and teachers, with an underlying emphasis on traditional Japanese etiquette, discipline and respect. Highly recommended.
Thank you
Fantastic experience: Both of my kids have been attending junior and senior classes for many years. They keep progressing their skills, making new friends there; enjoy the year end presentation event; they turn to be more confident and brave. I like the Japanese style class which brings the Karate martial to be very authentic, and the kids also developed their disciplines well. I joined 6 years ago in adult class and got my entry level black belt already; practice with kids at home has become another game for us now. I will recommend this club to all kids and adults if interested in martial arts.
Thank you
Fantastic experience: we go to training twice a week and we are very satisfied with the way the training is going. My daughter is 10 years old and she loves training.i noticed a positive change in my little girl's behaviar after she started training. I would wholeheartedly recommend that more parents direct their children to karate and especially to the training room wherewe go.
Thank you
Fantastic experience: Great environment to learn karate. Instructors super knowledgeable & friendly.
Thank you
Fantastic experience: I have been training under the tutelage of Shihan's Chris and Marie Green for nearly 15 years, my children also trained for a number of years (one obtaining her black belt and the other brown). I can honestly say Karate is a life changer, apart from the obvious skills it teaches you respect, honesty and above all humility along with hard training. Chris and Marie are a credit to this great martial art and I'm so grateful to be part of this wonderful club.
Thank you
Negative experience: We were really disappointed and surprised at the teaching style, which was completely inappropriate with young children. The dojo says that children as young as five can start, but there is so much shouting at them in Japanese without any explanation and a horrible punitive element to the teaching. For example, a 6 year old pupil answered a question asked by the teacher and she was punished with push ups for speaking out of turn because she forgot to raise her hand. I don't think that is teaching children to be kind and respectful to those weaker than them. I myself learnt karate for many years at a dojo in Yorkshire and it was nothing like this. I was also pretty horrified that one of the instructors physically grabbed my 6 y/o son and dragged him by his arms when he stepped out of line because he was frightened by all the incomprehensible shouting. That is not acceptable adult behaviour, particularly when this man was a stranger to my son.
I’m sorry that you were disappointed with the class. We advertise that our classes are traditional Japanese style. We did explain to your son that the language was Japanese. We have had classes for 48 years and have many successful students. We had a lot beginners on Monday and your son was the only one who was upset. We tried to encourage your son back into the session - I would not consider this to be dragging him.
Fantastic experience:
Fantastic experience: currently a 1st kyu (brown black) running for shodan ho and this is a really good dojo, it takes a while but its worth it, if you're looking for a good goju dojo check sasori out
We're glad you enjoy your training with us. As you say it's a long journey but a worthwhile one. You will make a good Shodan
Fantastic experience: I started studying karate at this dojo from the age of five until I left Hemel Hempstead and it's still the best dojo I've ever been to. Great instructors and style of karate.
It's great to know you consider us to be the best Dojo you have been to. You are always welcome to visit us if back in Hemel!
Fantastic experience: Great club, the instructors r very helpful and give great feed back in every session
Thank you
