No Man's Land Women only Gym: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Great workouts! Often people can be nervous to start a fitness journey so I thought I would write a review which answered questions I had before I joined: It’s run by Pete and his son Michael (it’s not a turn-up-when-you-want gym but women-only circuit classes of gym/strength/cardio exercises). It’s in the warehouse next to Halfords by Enfield and Castle Street car parks (there’s limited free parking on site though if classes are full). Any level of fitness is welcome, as each circuit activity has different rep ranges or adaptations, and you work at your own pace. The exercises change each day so you’re not doing the same thing all the time. There’s a full demo of activities at the start of every session. Plus during the Circuits, Pete or Mike wander around supervising and giving more instruction if needed. It’s flexible around your own schedule as there’s up to 6 classes a day and you can attend as little or as many classes a week as you like i.e. you don’t have to book a block of classes at a set time like with other gyms. Class sizes are up to 12-16 people but lunch/afternoon sessions are often quieter if you prefer that (the 0600 class is often very busy). You can get a free pass for your first session or you can book a 1:1 intro session for £12 (good if you’re extra nervous). You can pay-as-you-go or do a monthly membership (currently £7.50 for drop-in sessions or £45 a month for unlimited classes), which is very good value. Current class times are: Mon, Wed, Fri = Circuits: 0600, 0930, 1330, 1630, 1815, 1930 Tues, Thu = Circuits: 0600, 0930 and Kettlebells: 1700, 18:15 Sat = Barbells: 0800 Sun Circuit: 0945 The format of the hour Circuits is a demo of all activities, cardio warm up, stretches, circuits of 7 minutes with 1m15s rest (then repeat that 4 times), then a 2 minute lie down rest and cool down stretches. Plus a sledge race on Fridays. In between each circuit activity/set you run around a small track i.e. 10 lat pull downs then run, 10 squats then run, 10 burpees then run (but if you can’t run for whatever reason, people jog or walk or use the exercise bike or just skip it). Circuit exercises include squats, wall balls, lat pulldowns, kettle bell swings, bicep curls, bikes, rowers, ski machines, bent over row, modified press ups, shoulder press, half burpees, tricep extensions, sit ups, battle ropes, upright row, scissor kicks etc. There’s now a couple of short videos on Facebook and the website showing people during the circuit sessions if you want to see the types of activities they do (rather than stock photos/video). There’s a slightly more advanced dedicated kettle bells class on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and a more advanced barbells class on Saturday mornings for people who want to take it to the next level. When you join you get added to a WhatsApp group, but you can just mute it if you don’t like notifications. Classes are booked/amended via an app, but people end up late cancelling/saying sorry for no shows/doing late admissions via the WhatsApp group (as there’s currently no 'no show' or late cancellation fee). Give it a try!
Fantastic experience: I can't say enough great things about No Man’s Land! Since I started attending in August, my fitness journey has completely transformed. I primarily participate in Pete's circuit sessions and Mike's conditioning/strength classes, and I have to say, they are both outstanding! The convenience of just showing up and having Pete or Mike take charge of the workout is a game-changer. Their expertise and enthusiasm create an inviting atmosphere that motivates everyone to push their limits and achieve their personal best. The variety in the workouts keeps things fresh and exciting, ensuring that I never get bored. I was so impressed with the results that I actually cancelled my regular gym membership! The structured sessions at No Man’s Land have proven to be far more beneficial for my fitness goals. If you’re looking for an engaging, effective, and supportive environment to get fit, I cannot recommend these classes enough. You won’t regret it!

My fitness and confidence levels have hugely improved. It is great to be surrounded by a group of like-minded women who all spur each other on. So glad I’ve joined.
Fantastic experience: Pete and Mike are brilliant coaches, exercises are different each time. Sessions are frequent throughout the day and there aren’t too many people at each one so spaced out and feature some great equipment. Memberships are so reasonable. With like-minded women, it’s a great place to work out ❤️
Fantastic experience: A great place for a workout! Pete and Michael are great instructors. There are loads of circuit classes to choose from and the workouts are always varied and fun. A nice big space with loads of equipment. And most importantly you get a really good workout, where you can work at your own pace, but still in a group. Highly recommend.
