PureGym Haywards Heath: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Amazing..clean well organised..manager actually cleans the machines..PTS REGULARLY TEST THE EQUIPMENT..I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND PURE GYM HAYWARDS HEATH TO ANYONE
Hi Anita, thank you for taking the time to leave this review, we are delighted to see this is 5*s. It's important to us to provide our members with a great space to work out, in a clean and friendly environment and we're so pleased to hear you are enjoying PureGym Haywards Heath! Thanks, PureGym
Positive experience: Too crowded
Fantastic experience: I really like this gym, it has a great balance between spacious but with stacks of equipment. I was skeptical about doing a class but Janine was fantastic. Her knowledge was spot on and really got everyone in the class working hard. Sometimes you feel like the PT’s are doing that sort of class under duress but not Janine, enthusiastic without being overbearing!
Fantastic experience: Up until now I have gone to a very well equipped gym in Burgess Hill - PHX Gym. The issue I have there is that the music is far too loud and not to my taste and i am often wearing ear plugs or my own headphones to drowned out the din.!! Although i do a great session there, I often leave agitated. I have often felt that PHX simply doesnt feel like a healthy or friendly place to be. My visit to Pure Haywards last night was a much more positive experience. Music, soft and at a nice low volume. Although I went out of hours, all the other people there seemed friendly and I felt comfortable there. Unlike PHX the areas are well decorated and colourful. I like the colour scheme and it was very clean. It just made a much better feel to the place. Rather than looking at broken mirrors and grey walls and deafened by rap music and people around me shouting at each other to make themselves heard, Pure simply felt a much better, healthier and less aggressive place to be. Sorry PHX. You might have more equipment but..IM OFF TO PURE !!
Fantastic experience: Clean gym plenty of equipment not to busy if you time it right.
Negative experience: This gym has some drainage issues.. it always smells like feces.. and no its not body odour.. literally smells like a third world slum toilet.. the mens changing rooms always smell like that and occasionally the stench sweeps in the rest of the gym must be dodgy plumbing
Positive experience: The gym equipment itself is decent for a commercial gym, especially since it's less than a year old, and they do a good job of fixing issues when needed. However, the gym's cleanliness is severely lacking. There are only two damp, moldy cloths available for cleaning equipment, and no paper towels, which is unacceptable. On top of that, there's often just a single toilet roll left out. Most members don't wipe down equipment after use, so I’ve resorted to bringing my own antibacterial wipes. Given the gym's pricing, they should easily be able to provide basic hygiene essentials like paper towels. The male staff are friendly and approachable, but I’ve found the female staff to be quite judgmental and not as welcoming. The gym’s crowd levels are unpredictable, making it difficult to plan workouts unless you go very late at night. Cardio machines are always in high demand, with long wait times forming regularly. Additionally, there are often underage children running around unsupervised, treating the gym like a playground, which poses both a safety risk and a disruption to other members.
Fantastic experience: PureGym offers a variety of classes which I thoroughly enjoy, the instructors are very knowledgeable and very informative in class. In particular I would like to single out Jack-Daniel Doherty, I have done loads of his class and feel very comfortable. Thank you PureGym
Fantastic experience: As a recent "returner" to the gym, after a LONG time off, I was anxious to step back into the gym. I needn't have been! All the staff here have been so kind, approachable and made me feel totally comfortable in getting back into exercise. The PTs have heard my goals, and discussed nutrition and exercise plans to get me to my goal. I am the most body confident I have been in years (after having my children). The classes are brilliant and have really given me a drive and focus. My favourite classes are with Janine Turner, she is really empowering, knowledgeable and pushes me just that bit further. Love it!
Fantastic experience: I’ve tagged onto my husbands membership with the ability to go 4 times in a month. Thought I’d try it out and make my own mind up about the place before thinking of any changes to my current gym. I think it is pretty good. Lots of equipment and space. Ladies toilets were nice and clean and I’ve had no issue getting into equipment in the gym (one Sunday morning). I’ve tried Mackenzie’s strength class and Janine’s burn class and both excellent 45 minute classes. They know how to plan a class and also motivate you to do your best. People on the classes seem nice also with a good mix of ages and ability.
Fantastic experience: I have now been using pure gym Haywards Heath since June 2024.Overall the gym is an excellent experience for someone ike myself who lacks in confidence. I have signed up for some classes and found them very well run and very good for all abilities. I feel more confident every time I visit and the staff are always on hand should you need them and friendly.
Fantastic experience: Noel is a tasked master & just what I need! Catherine
Fantastic experience: The classes are all awesome, the fitness team are brilliant, friendly and always offering help and support!
Fantastic experience: I find, as somebody who is motivated by group classes more than individual workouts, that the Strength class in particular is excellent. Janine is an outstanding instructor who combines expert knowledge with an enthusiasm that makes every session feel motivating and rewarding, with attention given to form and technique. The class itself is well-structured, incorporating a variety of exercises to target all major muscle groups. Highly recommend to anyone looking to get stronger, improve their fitness, and have fun while doing it.
Fantastic experience: I’ve been using the gym here for a mix of PT, solo training and dipping into the classes they have on offer. The functional area classes with Janine have been great for that full body cardio and strength - she’s so motivating to make sure you’re getting the most out of your workouts!
Fantastic experience: I joined Pure Gym in Haywards Heath and I’m so pleased I did. The gym is very spacious with more than enough equipment for Cardio and weights. I also love the classes, particularly Janine’s burn class. She is so motivational and really encourages you to push yourself. I always come away feeling I’ve worked really hard. I will continue to come back and do this class and will try others too. Well done Pure HH.
Fantastic experience: I did Janine's strength class and loved it! Great coach!
Fantastic experience: Great strength session with Janine at PureGym. Thank you
Fantastic experience: Janine’s class is the best ans she’s the best
Fantastic experience: Loved Janine’s Strength 45 class.
Negative experience: No telephone number for customer services. My daughter’s membership was accidentally cancelled by PureGym . Only contactable via Facebook , Instagram. Took 3 days to reinstate her membership. Very poor customer service….No apologies mentioned by PureGym sadly
Fantastic experience: I’m not great with being motivated on my own to use the gym so am really happy with the fitness classes offered so far although it will be good to include yoga as a free class rather than a paid class. Janine is a really great instructor and motivator and gives everyone the required attention even in group settings!
Fantastic experience: PureGym offers great value for money with its wide range of equipment. I especially enjoy the included classes, which are a fantastic way to mix up my workouts. I have to give a special shout-out to Janine's classes – they really push you to your limits and deliver amazing results. I'm so impressed with her training style that I'm definitely looking forward to booking some PT sessions with her in the future!
Positive experience: Great HIIT class on Thursday evening led by Janine at Haywards Heath Puregym. She kept the energy going and demonstrated the exercises and techniques very well. Only 4*s because I hate burpees!
Fantastic experience: Lots of good quality equipment and facilities. Plenty of space and a nice atmosphere there.
Negative experience: Too busy to use, went 3 times in the last week and wasn’t able to train, there should be a limit on how many people they can get in there
Fantastic experience: I would recommend it
Negative experience: Wow iv never seen a group of people (adults) doing year 5 exercises in pe. In the gym. I'm confused if the PT have qualifications. It just made me cringe embarrassing
Fantastic experience: The gym offers a spacious and well-organized environment that makes working out enjoyable. The equipment is clean and in great condition. The staff is friendly and helpful. So far a positive and motivating atmosphere that keeps me coming back.
Positive experience: A pleasant space.Buying an hour of secluded gym is absolutely expensive
Positive experience: Good gym but it's a shame there's never any sanitising spray and blue roll like in Burgess Hill. Friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: Good value for money and great space for a good workout. With plenty equipment and not too busy which is great
Positive experience: Nice and clean space. Doesn't get as busy as might expect and a great addition to HH
Fantastic experience: "Great gym for beginners! As a newbie, I was very nervous about starting, but the staff here have been incredibly welcoming and helpful. The gym is clean, spacious, and has a good range of equipment for all fitness levels. There’s also a variety of classes that are perfect for beginners. I never feel out of place, and the atmosphere is supportive. Highly recommend if you're just starting out on your fitness journey!
Negative experience: No machines for core or abs. There is a lot of space and no useful machines. The cleaning guy was always on the way with a loosened cord, always cleaning near me whilst I was working out.
Fantastic experience: Just had the best sweat 30 class with Aaron! he really worked us hard and felt so good after!
Fantastic experience: Lovely, sizeable gym with a great choice of new equipment! Nice and clean, the crew is kind and helpful. :)
Positive experience: I've visited my share of gyms over the years. I have a mixed relationship with the PureGym brand since cancelling my membership at Burgess Hill. I've now returned to Haywards Heath seeing this is so much closer and I've been able to get a small (corporate) discount. To be honest, It doesn't blow me away, much like every other PG. Feels very spacious out on the floors, I question if more equipment could have been added & arranged better..? This is not a place for the 'big boys' who require a lot of plates. Some of the popular machines such as leg extension are not of the best spec/build/comfort. plenty of freeweight/ mirrored space though. The studio is huge.. possibly too big and eating into space that could be used for more machines? Ladies Changing rooms/showers feels especially small. But as a middle aged experienced gym goer, its meets my needs. Will settle for now, if they fail to reinvest or over subscribe like PG are prone to do then I will reconsider but 'til then, I'll enjoy the newness, convenience and cost.
Positive experience: It was my very first time in a Gym. I booked a learning class to learn basic use of machines. I had Lauren. It was a 1/2 hour course she only took 10 minutes. I said she should have shown me how to use machines. She said they were self explanation. Not for a total beginner they weren't. She said if I want to learn how to use machines I had to do Learn to Lift course
Fantastic experience: Great gym love it
Fantastic experience: Really nice gym! Very clean, never too busy and friendly staff. I get a bit anxious going into new gyms but I am very comfortable going here. The changing rooms and toilets are really clean, good variety of equipment and super spacious.
Fantastic experience: Staff are super friendly. The gym is disabled friendly also Lots of space lots of machines available. Place is always clean
Negative experience: I hate the huge, hand-written hostile sign about ‘Gym Etiquette’ that says no bags, casual wear or sliders. I am an extremely courteous and considerate gym-goer, but carry lots of my own protective accessories and equipment like wrist supports, knee and elbow sleeves, wrist straps, two different belts, lateral raise and chest cuffs and a 1-metre rope etc. To imply that I’m inconsiderate of others because I carry a bag of equipment to train and always keep it tucked out of everyone’s way is offensive. The Matrix equipment is a huge disappointment. Layout is not ideal, up and down stairs constantly. Upstairs is often too quiet and ‘office like’, not conducive to working out. Equipment is crammed upstairs rather than spread about the gym appropriately. The open area downstairs for classes is noisy and disruptive to the rest of the gym. I was really looking forward to a quality PureGym, but this doesn’t cut it at all!
Fantastic experience: Great gym. plenty of space in between machine and there is equipment for anyone needs and fancies. Very clean and well organised. Finally a gym open 24/7 to accomodate people working early in the morning like myself. It was super easy to join and i really like the gym app.
Fantastic experience: Really nice gym, loads of space and equipment. Hydration station is a nice little touch! Defo recommend tbh! And you don’t get too many gym bellends too!
Positive experience: Decent commercial Gym, exactly what you'd expect from a Pure. One issue though, way too hot! Can you fix the temp please guys.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic new facility. Shame the town was promised far in advance but better late than never as they say. See you all there
Negative experience: Buddy access I changed my home gym but that didn't change my buddy's home gym. No help available.
Positive experience: Having waited soooo long for this gym to open, I have been 4x in the past week since opening day at varying times of day. As expected of a PureGym, nice and clean (bathrooms don’t smell….yet), good mix of equipment, duplicates of popular machines, don’t have to wait too long for anything. And it’s not in a basement (!) so good phone signal for app-based workouts. Staff seem nice and helpful. Some local offers for members. All-in-all I’m happy with it so far.
Positive experience: Good local gym, though needs wide olympic barbells (only narrow barbells available) and a lot more 20kg plates would reduce queuing.
Negative experience: Way too full, even off peak, full of kids hanging around, hanging off machines, sitting on machines when not using them, no gym etiquette anywhere to be seen and no staff enforcing anything either. Unusable. Save your money.
Fantastic experience: Just opened. Good price and awesome equipment and facilities inside. Open 24hrs is great and good choice of classes. Worth the wait!
Negative experience: So the gym has opened! I signed up for a spring 2024 opening, in December 2023. Then, I was told it be opening in summer 2024. No apology or offer of an alternate gym in the meantime - I tried to ask Pure Gym (due to a 6-7 month delay) If I could just use the gym at Burgess Hill. Rather than, yes of course, it’s our fault for the delay and we are holding your bank information. I was informed I would have to drop my introductory offer and agree to the £29.99 a month DD (an increase of £12 per month). So I just waited. This was a very poor experience and a tainted first impression of the business. The whole idea was to start off the new year with a healthy start. This has left a bad taste in my mouth from the word go. The gym itself is central, big and equipment is well spaced out and fresh. Although, the equipment seems limited. The staff are fairly friendly. Although at opening day one member of staff was talking to his colleagues and sitting on the gym equipment, making himself at home as groups were being shown round. He then proceeded to check his mobile. Not a big deal but just seemed odd on an open day to do that and it made the team look sloppy and management appear to turn a blind eye. Time will tell how long I stay. The driving reason to stay is because it’s 24hrs and local. And I didn’t want to pay another joining fee to a competitors gym just to leave. Perhaps you get what you pay for, but if another gym pops up offering better value for money (even if it means paying more) I may switch….
Fantastic experience: Amazing gym, Amazing staff
Fantastic experience: A really nice gym- signal throughout, air con strategically placed, and the layout actually makes sense (lower body machines together etc). Some equipment is slightly complicated to use as it's newer/ more modern than I am used to but there are helpful videos to see how to adjust and use machines! Wish there were at least stackable benches in the upstairs free weights area
Fantastic experience: Just so that it's not just 28 1-star reviews. I understand that this opening was scheduled a while back, but what if PureGym were focusing on opening another store and weren't focusing on this one? That's okay! Also, unrelated but this gym just opened 2 hours and 46 minutes ago as of writing this review (14:46, 28 June 2024).
Negative experience: Completely useless company. They waste money sending 'coming soon' leaflets through the post for many months, meanwhile the gym doesn't look like it will be opening anytime soon. Simply false, misleading marketing. Collecting money for memberships for over a year now and ongoing.
Negative experience: Was suppose to open a long time ago. Paid for membership almost a year ago. Extreamly poor communication with customers. They keep making false promises when it will open. I really think a big corporation like this should compensate there customers that have been wating a long time for this gym to open. Extreamly poor.
Negative experience: PureGym really need to work on their customer service & communication. False promises on opening date to get you to join. (coming soon it said when I joined in July 23, and now it's expected to be Spring 24) They should be offering their customers an extended discount when they eventually get this gym up and running. Especially when they’ve had all these deposits sitting in their bank account. **update** Email from Pure Gym - Apr 24, what most people would call Spring. Was it that big apology for such awful customer service & communication ? No ! Was it that offering of an extended discount for a whole year ? No! They have some great news to tell us, I’m excited! What is that great news ? we are going to keep you waiting even longer by now opening early Summer 24. OMG ! Is someone taking the………
Negative experience: No updates on opening yet they repeatedly post 'opening soon' leaflets. No communication and by the looks of it, no actual progress at the location. What is going on......?
Negative experience: Paid my membership over a year ago .. still no news of when (or if) it will ever open! Appalling!!
Negative experience: They are not providing any updates about opening. It’s really horrible gestures from the company.
Negative experience: Been waiting for this place to open for over a year I wonder if it ever will?
Negative experience: Open itttt
Negative experience: Shocking treatment of their customers. False promises, no updates, nothing. Wished I stayed clear of them and would recommend everyone else to do so too.
Negative experience: I signed up to get my pump on in Feb and it is now August. Unfortunately the place does not exist which is hindering me from getting my pump on. Please pure gym, just pump it up and let's get this show on the road.
Negative experience: Appalling that PureGym doesn’t even have the good grace to apologise to it’s potential customers and give an update on progress! That would take all of 2 minutes.
Negative experience: Great to see that its opening soon - the functional training area is coming on nicely ;)
Negative experience: Tried to contact them about delayed opening and they wouldn't give any details.
Negative experience: False expectations set by the company on the opening date. Supposed to open in spring and still no sign of completion.
Negative experience: Behind schedule, not even started the interior build 4 months after stating it would be open!, and yet someone is posting a 5 star review.
Negative experience: Why i paid membership if is not open ? I have to cancel and definitely lost money for nothing.
Negative experience: Bought the membership with the advice that it would be opened in the spring. Now wondering what I spent my money on. Totally appreciate plans change sometimes, but communication would be appreciated. :)
Negative experience: Still waiting for it to be built. Signed up to an early contract, said open spring. Still no sign of it being completed and no communication from Pure Gym and it’s nearly July.
