The Norbreck Castle Hotel, located in Blackpool, United Kingdom, offers a unique mix of family-friendly hospitality and competitive prices, making it a popular choice for holidaymakers. Many guests have praised the hotel's friendly and attentive staff who strive to provide exceptional customer service, creating a welcoming atmosphere throughout the facilities.

Highlights:

  • Friendly and accommodating staff known for their exceptional hospitality.
  • Clean and spacious rooms with ample facilities including a swimming pool, gym, and arcade.
  • Good variety of food offered in the restaurant, with emphasis on quality and quickly replenished hot meals.
  • Location opposite the beach with stunning sea view rooms and a tram line just before the beach for easy access to Blackpool's attractions.
  • Great value for money, particularly during off-peak stays.

However, several guests have noted areas that require improvement:

  • Some rooms need updating and thorough cleaning, with reports of outdated decor and cleanliness issues.

Fantastic experience: To norbreck castle Blackpool me and my family I've been on holiday to this hotel three times every time we've came on on holiday the staff made us feel very welcome every time our rooms have been very clean we also brought our little dog to. don't believe the negative reviews on most of the comments about this hotel that you read norbreck castle is clean it is not the worst hotel in Blackpool as hotel chains in Blackpool in my opinion is seeing a rivalry it's a very friendly family hotel and they try their best for there holiday makers

Positive experience: Cheap and cheery, very outdated in a warm kind of 70s vibe type of way

Negative experience: Stayed for 1 night 14/2/25 for valentine promotion. There was not a single mention or posters mentioning it was valentine night. The food in the restaurant was eatable but not enough for the amount of people staying. The entertainment was cheap and very tacky. Would we stay again definitely NOT.

Negative experience: Went with low expectations due to others on trip painting a very bad picture of hotel. But, was clear that a refurb was in progress. We were on the ground floor, so cannot comment on other floors. The reception area, bar and restaurant, very nice. Clean, relatively new carpets that looked fresh and clean, areas painted. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bar prices reasonable, no dearer than in Blackpool it’s self. The food in the restaurant was very good. Plenty of choice, hot and empty trays replaced quickly with fresh, hot food. The rooms had newish, clean carpets. Mattress on bed left a lot to be desired, but I did get some sleep. Bathroom n shower were clean but deffo in need of a refurb. Just spent 1 night there, wouldn’t want to spend a week there, but a very reasonable hotel.

Negative experience: Firstly it should be mentioned that the reception staff are superheroes. The hotel is quite apparently not resourced to the level it should be and yet they continue to provide a level of customer service that is exponentially more than I could muster working in these abysmal conditions. First impressions of the hotel make you wonder if you’ve been unknowingly bestowed a custodial sentence. I’ve seen cheerier looking abattoirs. Approximately 30 minutes later, I arrived in my room after queuing to check in. I must be one of the lucky ones because I’ve never had to do that before in any hotel in the U.K. Please upgrade the technology or something because it should not take 10 mins to check one single party into their room. Every day the key card deactivates, so you will have to queue every day to reactivate it and get back into your room. This process can definitely ruin a stay, especially if you’re situated on the top floor with no lift. Only then will you realise the card does not work and have to trudge back down 6 flights of stairs. And up again. I could say more, but for me it was the eternal queuing that really made my overall stay quite dismal. Some things I will overlook, but being neglected as a paying customer is where I tend to draw the line. Neglect would probably sum up the theme of the entire hotel actually.

Positive experience: There are a certain number of things that have to go wrong in your life for you to end up staying in this hotel, but hey, you chose to stay here. I often felt like there was something alive in my pillow, like some kind of overweight racoon that was nestling in there, luckily though the only animal alive in that bed was me and a whole colony of fleas that have taken over every part of my body. I’m a pretty heavy sleeper so this didn’t bother me too much, but I was laying in bed one of the nights I was there and I could very clearly here the guest in the room neighbouring mine roll over and cough clear as day. If you do find yourself staying here, try your best to imagine you’re staying with an old relative who is too in firm and senile to clean or keep house maintenance. I felt a lot more comfortable staying here and imagining this farcical illusion than not so.

Fantastic experience: Opposite the beach with sea view rooms available. Lovely area with a tram line just before the beach. Lovely rooms could do with modernising but still lovely to stay in.

Negative experience: Stayed here the weekend. What a dump. Avoid. I put video on you tube. The hotel owners pay rubbish money we were told, so get what it's worth. We would of been better in a tent on the beach with the druggies. Avoid at all cost friends

Negative experience: Stayed for one night , absolute dump ! Windows nailed shut , stained sticky carpet, dirty mattress and curtains…… avoid it !!

Negative experience: Don't even bother with this place, we were so impressed when we entered but then found out it was cashless and the bar staff are extremely rude, like they didn't want the event there!!!

Leo Jackson 8 months ago

Negative experience: RUDE STAFF.... The male bar attendance's attitude was truly disgusting and in front of young children, we weren't the only ppl wanting to pay cash! We didn't know it was cashless! Who refuses business, who can afford to? Won't be returning

loz mcc 8 months ago

Negative experience: Went to an event, ordered 2 drinks at the bar and i went to pay cash! I was rudely told its card only i apologised as I'd only brought cash and they took the drink off my son even although he had started drinking it! I was told they don't have to accept cash but it was a family event for children and the merchandise is cash payment..... What's wrong with cash? No need for rudely staff!

Negative experience: Location and a clean kettle is pretty much all the hotel has going for it. Filthy is an understatement, hallways all have dirty towels and towels left to keep doors open on nearly every hallway, there was a mouse to greet us when we arrived on floor two down the corridor. Mould on the curtains in the room, 100s of dead fly in each lampshade/ cover (multiple). We couldn’t shut any windows as there was no window handle on the bathroom on and the bedroom one was fixed shut in the open position, it was like an ice box, I’m presuming this was to stop excessive mould growing in the rooms as it looks like the bathroom was renovated and plastic coverings put up to cover the horrors underneath. General cleanliness isn’t a thing at this hotel. We had to use a hair clip to keep the curtains shut as the rail was broke and curtains were open about 10 inches without us holding them shut. All I can say is good luck if you are booked in to stay

Sam W 8 months ago

Negative experience: At first, the hotel seemed ok I would expect some noise from guests especially since there’s a bar downstairs although I didn’t go into the bar. After the bar closed people started heading to their rooms, doors closing, some laughter as to be expected but the guests next door just didn’t shut up, being loud and talking and laughing so I just waited for them to settle down, I really couldn’t be bothered heading to the front desk since I was on the 3rd floor and I just tried to blank it out, it got to about 1:30AM they started to have really loud s*x the man was shouting things, he was moaning really loud and I’m pretty sure there was more than 2 people in that room, so at 2AM I went to the front desk to ask them if they could sort it out, they said no, if I asked earlier on they would’ve, and said they wouldn’t want to disturb what was going on, I asked if they could knock on and tell them to be quiet and they said no, and said I could if I wanted to. I said no, they offered to move me to another room. I declined as my partner was half asleep, it’d just be a right pain when alls the room needed was to he told to shut up by at least a member of staff, they said they’d go up and check in 15 minutes, it got to 3AM and they were still going. By 4AM they were still being loud and i eventually fell asleep. The front desk did give me a late check out. But I was awake by 9:30AM by more noise, so we just decided to leave and headed home, we wanted to stay around Blackpool for the day but we opted to go home and get some sleep. We normally stay at the Hampton or premier inn when visiting Blackpool and I wanted to give another hotel a try since it had history and we was child free that night. So I think in future we will continue to use the Hampton or premier inn at least in those hotels the staff are more than happy to tell guests to be quiet, although I’ve never ever experienced this sort of behaviour in any hotel I’ve ever stayed in but at the same time I’ve never stayed in a grotty hotel.

Negative experience: Hotel lobby smelt of weed. Had loads of youths hanging in it. Drunk people loitering around and shouting at the staff (lovely, should quit and leave from the total disrespectful behaviour towards them) Rubbish from guests all over the place, People in pyjamas and crocs, wandering around with cans of Stella or bottle of wine in black plastic bags....Honestly, I've seen better youth hostels. The Staff can't help who books I guess, I didn't even check-in, I cancelled my booking and went home!!!

Negative experience: A lot of very drunk people. Check in took 40 mins, room was very basic but clean.

Fantastic experience: Norbrek Castle Norbrek Castle - Blackpool. Stayed Thursday night then attended a Pontins 48hr Weekender February 2025. Accommodation - clean and had the necessaries in the room. Food - good quality and variety. Hotel - yes dated but it is a big hotel and from what I saw was being maintained. Staff - all I spoke to were friendly, helpful, nothing too much trouble and polite. Would I stay here again / recommend - absolutely!!!

Negative experience: A once vibrant beautiful building now looks in need of some major TLC

Angela Pennington 8 months ago

Negative experience: We stayed over for the 48hr party, at night time on the Friday there were no seats in the main room, I had to go to my room because I am unable to stand for long periods, Saturday night there was about 20 seats for 100s of ppl and about 20 shoved in the corner for disabled ppl made to feel like an out cast, staff were ignorant and miserable, no entertainment on during the day, the radiator in our room made a terrible loud noise, was not a pleasant stay at all

Elizabeth Millinchip 9 months ago

Negative experience: Absolutely appalling,we were offered 4 different rooms before I would stay in one ,the windows didn't shut ,the curtains billowed into a freezing cold room ,it was unbelievable ,the draught blew under the doors and up the corridors ,we were then offered a tiny room with no windows at all, the third room was as bad as the first and then they had the cheek to charge us £30 for an upgrade !!!!! Never Again

Sienna henry 9 months ago

Negative experience: I stayed here for a 2 day competition, meaning I needed a lot of rest so I can focus. The beds were horrible and lumpy and the pillows were so hard I could not sleep on the at all. I had to sleep with no pillow causing me neck pain.

Negative experience: Rooms was awful, bit of a shit pit really. Mould on walls and windows Staff lovely and very accommodating though. Enjoyed breakfast and evening meal after waiting in a massive queue

Eleni Manousioti 10 months ago

Positive experience: The room was big. The beds were not too bad. There were no plugs close to the beds. There were only 3 or 4 plugs on the wall opposite the bed. The staff were friendly. The hotel is very outdated, there is no soundproofing so we could hear absolutely everything from the room next door and from the room upstairs. We had dinner at the hotel once. The food was bland and the coffee from the coffee machine had an awful smell. The entertainment was good. Right opposite the hotel, there is a tram stop.

Clarissa Harrison 10 months ago

Negative experience: It was winter and the bedroom was freezing. Radiator not working. The lift broke down and there was no urgency in repairing it and they don't take cash

Douglas Taylor 10 months ago

Positive experience: Our first stay here was an exceptional deal. Rooms were clean, and breakfast was good and generous. We're booked for two more stays, unfortunately not at the same price but still good value. As with many hotels of this vintage, it is a little jaded, but still a good place to stay.

Negative experience: They change me and my daughters room when we got there she has a disabilities and can not use a shower has she’s got a Tracheotomy witch she needed to wash meaning it was very stressful time as a parent witch didn’t help when she cut her foot on the tiles in the bathroom plus the beds where bowing in the middle final straw was on Christmas Day when a bloke was kicking of with a woman frightening my daughter she was so scared about the incident I packed are bags reception told me I would get a refund but they are not contacting me back

Janice Turner 10 months ago

Positive experience: Disappointed with hotel. Much outdated, could do with a overhaul. Had to change room 3 time's due to unsuitable for disabled person. Very cold, heating not working. Corridors are freezing. There is no heating on in most Corridors, not even on a timer. Alot of guests have complained about this cold. A few have moved rooms. Alot of guests are elderly and disabled. Hotel needs to accommodate for these guests. I've been generous in giving a middle of the road rating. Now staff we have dealt with were lovely and friendly, no fault there and the food and service is first class. Not happy with entertainment as very little of it . Big gaps throughout the day until around 8pm with Bingo and singer entertainer. No Bingo on Christmas day as do quiz night which most people would have rather had Bingo or both. Wheelchair friendly throughout. Just beware of the cold. Perhaps too cold for Babies and the elderly. Probably end up with hyperthermia, but that's the extreme. Definitely good food but lots of improvement needed.

Fantastic experience: We visited this hotel only months ago and what a difference, the first thing is the lovely smell as you walk in, it wasn’t like that on our last stay, carpets must have been cleaned. The girl on reception was great with my mum who was in a wheelchair and needed a disabled room. (Blonde hair). Our three rooms were basic but clean, biscuits are new and with no issues of heating, our last visit we needed heaters and extra duvets. A good nights sleep on a comfy bed and you could actually see out of the windows. Breakfast as before was great, buffet style with as much as you can eat with the added bonus of fresh pastries which were a new addition, ideal for my dad as he prefers continental. The man in the suit, tattoos on his neck, his name was Martin or Mark, sorry if I got it wrong was fantastic, went above and beyond, even went out to get my dad a newspaper, I’m sure he was the manager, explained there were works going on in the holiday but he was great throughout our stay. We will be back. Thanks to Martin, Mark and his team.

Negative experience: I have decided to devote some attention to the review I am about to post regarding the Norbreck Hotel. Bare with im just removing my work boots. Get comfortable pop the kettle on, grab yourself a hobnob (the perfect dipping biscuit) Now I can't remmeber when i visited I think it was roughly 18 months ago. So my wife and i decided we wanted short break in Blackpool. Now knowing that blackpool had fish and chips and ice cream I jumped at the chance and got straight onto booking.com *other websites are available* Family room with 2x single beds and a cot boom perfect my wife and i were very excited but to my dismay after re checking the booking I discovered I booked the wrong room it was £225 for 2 nights so priced quite well for the weekend a cheeky get away from the hustle and bustle of work life. We just had a baby you see so thought it might be nice to GO away So regarding the wrong room booking I'll attend to that later.. We jumped in the car after packing the hole house into a small Nissan juke boot of course my wife said the classic "it will fit come on" so red faced, feeling strong I grabbed hold of the snack bag and in it went straight into the passenger footwell phew I thought to myself that was amazing just how I handled the bag and it didn't split and I managed to not eat any food on the way to the car. So after a couple of hours we stopped for a mcdonalds it was rather tasty and somewhat filling. We jumped back into the car well i did after I put the baby back In the car seat and my wife pulled the long peice of white tissue out of the back of her trousers (sometimes she forgets where she is) So we arrived at Blackpool, the gleeming lights, the chilly coastal breeze and the smell of marijuana filled the air. We arrived at the castle image of the Norbreck hotel. We left the bags in the car and of course we bought the baby out because apparently you are not allowed to leave the baby unattended. My wife put her trainers back on and applied the lippy which she had stowed away in the cup holder. We walked over to the hotel from the carpark after finding a space the door was open for the disabled access i thought hey-up we are alright here. Anyway we fought our way through the queue of people with the £3 sun newspaper holiday vouchers ( we paid full price i grinned and I walked past those people) To get to the no teeth, bleach blonde haired receptionist you know the type the one that wears see through primark leggings (as did my ex wife ) Anyway sorry got a little disgust feeling in my throat. So I explained to the "lady" I booked the wrong room she said oh that's is no problem we will upgrade you free of charge I glanced over at my wife and nodded oioi penthouse sea view balcony woo so they gave us the key and a quick fire drill basically of the alarm goes off run We walked with excitement down through the small arcade area past the toilets and down a small corridor which can only be discribed as the cleaners exit for a quick cigarette. We opened the door my wife and i looked at eachother and began to laugh.. The upgrade we got was not a room with a view, room bar or a flat screen TV We got a cupboard with 2x plastic cups, a wardrobe from dad's army and a nightclub style stained carpet. The toilet smelt like you know public toilets from Luton Town centre. Well we laughed and I decided to go and clear the car get our bags and settle in to the bar I took the bags from the car into the hotel, thought the marijuana cloud past the drunk bloke holding onto his inflatable dolphin and past the kiss me quick Booth We shut the door to the room a gap as high as a changing room in primark was on the door with a horrific draft so I decided to put the baby near the door I didn't want to be cold. So we hit the bar couple drinks quite reasonable priced 2 waters £4 bargain I didn't want to drink out of the toilet sink seemed a little off to me. So we retired to our quarters got our pj's on and settled baby we put the TV on 50p in the back and a remote on a string. TBC I've ran out of room on the page.

Negative experience: This hotel is dreary , painted the wrong colours , not even looked after on the outside at all it's so ran down !! There are piles of rubbish along 3 sides of the building at their second entrance leading to the car park . The ballroom dancing championships were being held this weekend gone . Nov 29/30th and that room was the best room in the house. I felt physically sick when we were shown our rooms .....grotty unclean looking with a horrible step to get to the bathroom. My single room for my dad was also as bad . I felt unclean after just walking to the rooms as I could see the hotel felt uncared for let alone the rooms. The hotel is dreary and unloved . The dining lounge was actually quite nice but because of the general state of the hotel I couldn't trust what goes on in the kitchen and I was worried about being poisoned, maybe an unwarranted claim but I just felt dirty in myself because it's almost that I wanted to wipe my feet on the way out ....shocking overall state of the hotel & is in dire need of an uplift... Of several millions of £'s that I just don't think they have ... On a positive note all the staff were lovely so I don't want to take away how nice the ones we dealt with were especially Jesse on the front desk she was lovely with us and I got the impression that they all know the hotel is delapidated . Our beds had the crappiest old mattresses with the springs almost looking like they're going to pop through the material top layer and springs that were broken and noisy when the mattresses were sat on . On our first night we had to change rooms , suffer the crap mattresses And at 3 am on our first nights stay I had to get dressed and go to reception to complain about the beds as we were literally laying down on the spring tops and requested two brand new mattresses of premier inn quality . Reception took note and said he couldn't do anything at that moment and I said yes I understand that but please sort this for tomorrow night , Saturday night or we are leaving . Their response was to put a topper on each bed which was so much better . It was nice that they actually did do something. As I said the staff are great but SHAME on you Britannia Hotels who own it that your letting the staff of this hotel down Massively having to cope with their penny pinching and they don't have a product they can be proud to sell and work in ... HANG YOUR HEADS IN SHAME BRITANNIA HOTELS .... those hard working people have nothing to be proud of where the hotel is concerned and im sure they will be telling anyone they know to stay away from it . The views from the rooms was none existent windows were opaque and couldn't see out of them . The parts of the roof we could see from our room were in a disgusting state . Again no upkeep of the building. Makes me wonder what other corners Britannia Hotels are cutting. ( 5 ***** for the hotels staff ). (0 stars for the hotel !! )

Positive experience: This is a three star hotel and I would say this was not bad at all. This is a very big hotel, so I assume when rooms are not occupied heating is off, therefore it takes a day to warm up. Location: good location with trams running into Blackpool centre and great to see the illumination. Staff: really helpful and accommodating if they could be. Hotel: lovely venue for a dance weekend we attended, would certainly go back. They have a few issues with the fabric of the hotel, which I assume they are trying to address. Perhaps when they know guests arriving heating is put on earlier in these rooms.

Positive experience: Went for cero dance weekend. Definitely improvement to pontins. Food excellent albeit service a little slow. Rooms basic and initially cold but with extra heater provided was toasty warm. Staff friendly and obliging nothing to much trouble. Would defo visit again. Bring on next dance weekend! X

Positive experience: Very pleasant stay. The room warmed up. The bed was comfy. It's off the main strip but the tram comes often to take you to where all the action is. Quiet hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. I wasn't expecting much with the food as I'm fussy but I could not fault it.

Fantastic experience: Apologies for putting an incorrect review on for this place. My phone must have picked up the geolocation as we walked by. We didn't actually go in here. My review was for one if the two Wetherspoons which we did actually go in. Apologies for anything I said misleading, though by the crass response I received and the actual review score shown on a couple of SM's, I suppose I wouldn't have been that far off anyway. Hope the extra stars give you a rewarding boost. Have a good day yourselves!

Oh and the wouldn't accept cash at the bar!

Negative experience: We booked and paid for a twin room. Upon check in a double room was allocated. The room had a trundle/fold down bed not fit for a tall 14 yr old. We approached reception and was told someone would sort it and off we went for the day. Came back c10pm. Approached reception to be told full so couldn't change rooms. Then the solution given at 11pm was to give us a refund and for us to look elsewhere. I did indeed look at a very full Blackpool. So we had no choice other than to stay. Fact is if they couldn't honour the booking for what was requested they should have made contact or they should have looked for alternative accomodation. Their manager, Matt, blamed the LGBT movement saying, and I quote, "the problem is the LGBT movement. They all want single beds. They ask for rooms for 5 with 5 single beds. They don't want to share ". Not very appropriate. Now to the room. The trundle bed is not fit for a 14 year old so my son didn't sleep well at all. The curtain in our room had spores. Clearly hadn't been washed for a very long time. The door wouldn't lock. I had to resort to pushing a small unit in front of the door for security as no point in contacting staff as no alternative rooms available. Also there are no sockets apart from the TV in the sleeping area. All were covered. Hugely inconvenient. No lamp either. Then after literally the worst nights sleep we have ever had in a hotel we went for breakfast where we were faced with a queue of around 60 people from an event all waiting. I explained to the waiter we were keen to leave, definitely keen to leave, so he kindly served me table service of warm sausages, soggy hash brown, cold and hard bacon, cold black pudding and a puddle of scrambled eggs and my son with cold floppy toast. Honestly for over £20 it was vile and shocking quality Drinks were served in flimsy disposable plastic cups. Customer service is non existent. It took 3 chases to the groups customer service for a response who offered £20 voucher against our next stay!!! And no one addressed the managers comments. Would rather stay in a tent.

Fantastic experience: As a regular guest to this hotel I can honestly 5 star for everything, The rooms, The Catering, The staff especially the management team. Amy, Matt, Ross and especially the general manager Marc have made me feel welcome every time I’ve been. I look forward to more stays at this hotel.

Negative experience: Very dated and in need of an overhaul. Work going on right below the room we had been allocated. After 10pm when the noise continued, we complained but told workmen would be working through the night. Offered to move my husband and I but we may still hear the workmen. We left and got a full refund. Very disappointed ☹️

Negative experience: We were offered a free nights complimentary stay for a one night stay that was spoilt by the actions of a guest and the inactions of the hotel staff to sort out the issue at the time... they would not refund us. Norbreck Castle admin staff are an absolute joke..i tried to sort out a date with them for the free stay and they consistently caused massive delays with the responses by email(you cannot speak to this team directly on the phone)...i would ask them for a date then they would contact me back after the date had gone and said "apologies for the late reply please advise us of another date.." This happened for around 12 weeks with still no commitment from them to book us in for a free stay. Initially we thanked them very much for the offer for the free stay but then they played games with us by delaying their answers so much they made it impossible for us to arrange the free night. Eventually after around 3 months we gave up trying to book the day..well done admin staff at Norbreck castle.. i guess the sickness that runs through your entire Britannia hotel network extends also to the admin staff who work for Britannia hotels. Bravo Norbreck castle admin staff i hope you feel a great sense of satisfaction treating your customers with contempt. We certainly wont be back.

Negative experience: It's 1.38am, I've woken up three times in a sweat because they're using cheap, non-breathable memory foam bedding. I've put a towel at the bottom of my door to try keep the smell of marijuana in the hallways out, and I've cracked open a window to try let it out. Bought an English Breakfast in the morning, stale bread and sausages so oil drenched that I actually packed the breakfast and threw it to the seagulls. How do they even achieve food this bad? Hotel is run down, peeling paint, black mould, filthy carpets, creeky wooden floors. If you hate yourself, book a night here.

Fantastic experience: Spent a few days here with family, hotel is warm, clean and ample things to do, gym, cinema, swimming pool, arcades, entertainment on the night. It's a 3 mile walk to the tower or there's a tram over the road. The breakfast is buffet style and masses of freshly cooked food and continental, 07.30 to 9.30am (starts to get busy about 8am) Only 1 thing which was disappointing on arriving at the carpark there's signs up saying £10/day to park with everything monitored these days we paid before checking in, only to find out residents were £3/night with no offer of refund, apparently the carpark is privately owned and separate to the hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful. Room was clean and warm, TV, kettle, biscuits, overhead shower/bath. Low water pressure on the top floor but no real hardship. Be warned this is a family hotel so if your wanting a quiet pint or meal, it's not going to happen. Some kids just ran constantly through the hotel and didn't seem to be with anyone. Staff tried their best to stop this though.

Negative experience: As I arrived I got my key and went to my room and I realised there are no plugs sockets next to the bed, so I went down to speak to the staff because I have sleep apnoea and I need to plug in my machine for it and they basically told me to stop moaning it wouldn’t even bother to give me a plug extension. I also found a few dead bugs on the chair in the room and a few ants in my bathroom very disgusting, if I could of rated 0 stars I would don’t waste ur money here

Positive experience: Just got back from a weekend at the Norbreck and I really can't understand why people complain and put really bad reviews. The food was lovely with plenty of choice our room was very clean and bright the decor good. The hallway was clean and bright and the lift clean. All the staff were friendly and helpful from the cleaners and maintenance to the waiters reception and everyone else. I for one would certainly go and stay again. Norbreçk team thank you

Fantastic experience: I used to come here every year with my grandma. It was the only place me and my little sister would go on "holiday" it was so fun to go to, every time we passed through reception, we grabbed a sweet from the desk. We ran around the big open reception area all the time. The staff were absolutely amazing and the rooms were gorgeous. Honestly one of if not THE best hotel in all of blackpool.

Negative experience: Not very happy. They kindly hosted a blood drive and then two weeks later, I received a £100 parking fine. Working through the motions now but no need, no need at all.

Negative experience: Cons: Low quality all round. Rooms tired and grotty ( not cleaned properly on arrival/ window broken). Attitude of staff on reception poor, I was told when complaining that I was lucky to have a room. Guest on the same floor had told us they had seen mice in their room as they were leaving. I even offered to pay whatever I needed to at reception to get a better room, again staff didn't care. The clientele at this hotel were of low quality, smell of weed several times outside and in. screaming children and adults. Walls paper thin. Bed small and uncomfortable, plus it looked as though a toddler had made it, me and my partner had to remake it. Pros: Staff generally nice ( apart from the previously mentioned woman on reception). Breakfast was nice. When the room above ours started doing star jumps and screaming at each other at 4 in the morning, security promptly went and shut them up after I complained. I would like to point out that night staff are different, as I'm sure the day woman on reception would have told me I was making it up. Conclusion 1/5. Do not stay here. All interior is tired, not old although it is, I mean broken, damaged, dirty, worn. Im quite laid back so enjoyed my stay, couple of beers and a TV on a night and I'm happy. If your a light sleeper, have a bad back ( like my partner), expecting a clean room with functional window. Then you probably won't be happy.

Positive experience: First issue was to find the parking space, so big hotel but not enough big parking, had to drive at the side of hotel to find some other parking. The check in took a very long time due to many people arriving, big queue at reception and only 3 people at reception. Room was very simple and clean, but the window (see in photo), that's a see wiev. Didn't went to their restaurant so can't say anything about that. Been using the public transport, tram station is just outside the hotel, very comfy. Very basic Britania hotel that would need some works to be done ✔️

Im “In my opinion” Anonymous 1 year ago

Negative experience: Okay- we needed a twin room put in a family room this meant we had children running up and down the ramp behind our room (205) in the south wing. No television wasn't working so no way to block out the noise. Two stars for being just about clean.

Thomas Huxley 1 year ago

Positive experience: Bedroom was acceptable. Hot water and bed was comfy. Sheets had a couple of unknown stains on but didn’t seem malicious. Bathroom door didn’t close but didn’t mind as just me. Had to wait a while to check in. Location is alright but far from most of Blackpool tourist attractions but there’s a tram stop right outside so it’s a trade off. Worth the price paid. Would stay again.

Negative experience: Needs a good clean . canteen as opposed to a restaurant. Most staff friendly however reception couldn't answer a question without stating hotel protocols. Very unhelpful. We chose to eat out had we not been on a dance break we would have left as soon as we arrived I have never stayed in a hotel as bad as this

Negative experience: Myself and other half was at this hotel afew weeks ago. The hotel needs a makeover. The room's are okish nothing special. The bar staff are so rude. Went and got food in morrisons around the back of the hotel. Stay again if the had a makeover.

Matthew Ames 1 year ago

Negative experience: What can I say arrived for a one night stay at reception at half 2 checked in then had to wait till half 3 to get our keys. Payed for on-site parking ️ . Someone was being arrested on the carpark that was some entertainment. Because we had to wait for our keys we decided to get some food from the resident soup kitchen that was probably a bigger mistake than even going to Blackpool in the first place the burger was swimming in oil undercooked and left a bad after taste for hours afterwards and an upset stomach. The room was ok albeit a bit dusty can't be helped when you employ cleaners who are probably the resident ghosts. The hall to our room was filled with bed linen dirty crockery and towels from previous guests. We had the 6amp circuit trip in our room so got maintenance after really struggling to get in touch with reception from our room if you're older and not very good with technology this could be a problem as the room telephone or welcome package doesn't have reception number conveniently. Outside smelt like a cannabis farm as I think it may be legalised in Blackpool. Upon leaving my Wife went to speak to the receptionist as booking.com apologised and said reception are expecting you The receptionist was short, abrupt, bad mannered so I stepped in took no messing and told her improvements that need to be made for example no number and better cleanliness that fel on deaf ears she really didn't give a . If you check my review history I'm fair but this place avoid like the dog on the promenade.

Fantastic experience: Well we were apprehensive about staying at this hotel as has had bad reviews we were very thankful it was all brilliant even though the lift was out of order that was the only let down. The room was clean the food was lovely and staff excellent. We went swimming again the staff were lovely whole experience was great . Thank you too all the staff

Fantastic experience: Currently staying at the Norbreck I can not fault anything the rooms are clean the staff are really friendly the manager Mark is excellent the reception staff are very helpful any problems they sort straight away nothing is to much for them the restaurant staff even ask if you have finished your meal before taking your plates away I have stayed here a few times with my wife and friends and we never have any problems definitely recommend and the rooms are priced accordingly thank you Norbreck and staff for making my stay enjoyable just to add we stayed an extra 2 nights and checking out today Sunday the 6th October and I can not find any problems with the facilities or the staff in the hotel the staff always go above and beyond to sort any problems anyone that is looking for a friendly hotel to stay away from all the hussle and bussle of staying town this is the place for you entertainment is Wednesday to Saturday there is even a cinema for guests to enjoy I highly recommend you come and stay and enjoy all facilities that the Norbreck has to offer the staff and management make you feel at home DEFINITELY coming back next month

Negative experience: Would be nice if norbreck castle utilised the land they have and made a car park big enough , every weekend all the parking on local streets is rammed , even the spaces outside local shops where it's a maximum 2hr parking .

Negative experience: I have never left a review for a hotel before but thought I would start tonight. I stayed here in August 2015 and just about feel ready to dive into some of the memories still burnt into my brain. I unfortunately cannot forget this faulty tower-esque stay if only it was funny. There are too many things to comment on so I will skip to the top three. 1. The room was dirty with Malteser and crisp packets under the bed, hair on the pillow and the window did not close. Reception moved us to another room with a roll away bed for the second person. Again the room was dirty less so but still had not even been hoovered. 2. to my delight a week and a half later I developed scabies once I arrived home. No I am not joking, scabies… that took 3 separate trips to diagnose and 2 weeks full of nights awake scratching with the itch, lumps and heat. 3. The fire alarm went off. SIX SEPERATE TIMES in the weekend we stayed. At all hours of the night blasting through this massive hotel and forcing guests to evacuate more than 3 times twice in the middle of the night when it was freezing cold. I am absolutely shocked this place has not been bulldozed to the ground for health and safety by now.

Positive experience: This hotel is fairly cheap and in a good location for Blackpool and as such is very popular. My room was clean, nicely furnished and decorated. However the walls are paper thin and could hear everyone in the corridor , doors slamming and other rooms noises. The staff were friendly and helpful. Went there for a gaming exhibition held there so was ideal.

Positive experience: Nice.. weird and confusing experience. Would I stay again ? Yes based on the last experience:)). A bit like Mrs Hyacinth Bucket from Keeping up Appearances, Everything works to a certain extent, looks fairly well but dated. but the tea and coffee is cheaper than from a pound store. Everything looked clean, then the Bathroom door doesn’t shut and you feel lucky that you managed a good shower even though you were dreading the thought of going through with it. It’s low level suspenseful, you’re almost sure that you will be alright, but there’s that 1% chance of things going south, is there.. afterwards and you feel so great and nothing went wrong…

Negative experience: Dated dirty smelly hotel. Grumpy front of house with way to much work they could cope with. Hotel stunk . Hard to find rooms and ended up on the roof / fire escape Plenty of police turning up for various reasons. Better than a tent

Positive experience: I went to a dinner at the hotel so I stayed the night to make things easy and so I could have a drink. The price was very good £39:00 including breakfast. The food served at the dinner was very good along with the service. However other parts of the hotel particularly the bar I found some of the staff to be very unfriendly and not nice. The room was exactly what you would expect for £39. The breakfast was OK.

Negative experience: Actual no stars for this absolute minging hotel. Room smelled like sewage, windows did not work and the staff couldn’t care less, Me and my kid are majorly ill. Hotel is a dump and smells like one aswell. God knows why folk actually book this hotel it’s absolutely DISGUSTING.

Negative experience: Our room smells like an open sewer literally make us all sick, reception couldn't be less interested after I complained. Then opened the window and there literally was a broken pipe with human waste pumping out onto flat roof! Disgusting

Positive experience: I didnt stay there so cannot comment on it from inside. The building is the most depressing colour grey. A long way from North Pier. Would need to get Trams or buses. Didnt seem much in the area.

Positive experience: Two visits. First visit was room 227. If given this room ask for a different one! Your view is ducting and nothing else. 2nd visit and room 327. The same applies. This view is of public scaffolding stairs. The one room is directly above the other. Also the TV in room 227 had no working remote control.

Fantastic experience: I haven't stayed in the hotel. I go to the gym there, it's really nice for the money. £20 a month and the sauna/steam room is always clean and working, they've got a nice pool. Changing rooms are outdated but functional, gym is decent enough. Staff are all really lovely.

Negative experience: Shame you can’t score 0 doesn't deserve a 1. Typical Britannia Hotel … running trend with this chain … no investment and hotel was a complete dump . Greedy CEO runs all the hotels into the ground which is a shame as once upon a time they were no doubt beautiful buildings . CEO has made crazy profits of UK tax payer for many years . It’s criminal and he needs arresting . He’s as tight as the maids are with the towels . Fire Alarm went off 5 times with the last one going off at 2am .. ironically a real fire would be a blessing as the place needs burning to the ground and starting again . I’ve never seen so many security at a hotel . Considered sleeping in the car at one point .. probably would have had a better nights sleep . Did get my steps in though as lifts don’t work and up and down from reception to third floor as key cards didn’t work . Can still smell the damp . No WiFi … hotel stuck in the 1960s when the last refurbishment was . Hotel rough as old boots . One couple getting it on in the stairwell . Feral kids running around . Never again .. it’s no from me . They predict half of Blackpool will be under the Irish Sea by 2050 … let’s hope this is under sea sooner …

Positive experience: I was very nervous about staying at this hotel after I came across the reviews after booking to stay at the Norbreck hotel, and came very close to canceling my booking but I'm glad I didn't and gave it the benefit of the doubt, yes the decor is dated and old but I really enjoyed my stay the hotel offers so much , it has a pool to enjoy at a low extra cost at £2 a go , entertainment in the evenings to please all people , and arcade , little cinema room , sports bar and they even had a car boot sale when we stayed , my room wasn't anything to write hime about , marks on all the walls flaky paint but was clean and the bed was comfortable, the hotel itself was a little dirty and could do with a good hover in a few places but it's a very big place to keep in top off and old too , we had breakfast with our room and I can't complain about the food , plenty to choose from hot and cold and it was at a good quality too , all the staff were super friendly and helpful, drinks prices are reasonable, the only take card but that didn't bother me as they emailed before my stay to let me know this , there is a tram station right out side the hotel which is very useful and cheap at £10 for 24hrs for two people , tje car park at the hotel has plenty of space , i was told it was free parking when i booked but on arrival i was told it was £3 for 24hrs , was a little annoying to have to pay after being told it was free but £6 for to days party wasnt bad at all so i had no issues payimg that , overall we had a good experience at the Norbreck and would definitely stay again and I'm glad I didn't let the bad reviews put me off booking there

Positive experience: We have stayed at the Norbreck castle on many occasions. We have been disappointed occasionally with our room but I must say we saw definite improvements on our last visit. The staff were excellent and the food was to its normal high standard, I can’t complain about anything. Thankyou

Negative experience: Staff were friendly and got us checked in quickly! Rooms were bad, our bedroom window wouldn’t shut properly so it was freezing cold so we got moved rooms in that room the cleaners clearly didn’t clean it properly as there was bacci all on the bedside table and coffee all in the cabinet. They clearly didn’t wipe down the sides. There was still skid marks in the toilet!!! This unfortunately made our stay cut short!

Greg Howells 1 year ago

Negative experience: I arrived today for 2 days, I know you pay for what you get, staff are friendly and welcoming. Reception is super slow but it can't be helped I guess! Only reason I picked this hotel was because it gave me the option to pay CASH at the hotel rather than paying online. Well unfortunately they had a sign up stating cash was not being accepted as of the 19th August so was a day late I WOULD NOT stay again simply because you have taken away my rights to how I choose to pay, if I didn't have my 3 year old son with me I would have walked out! Says swimming pool is at the hotel, why charge when we have paid to stay at your hotel?? Everyone just seems to be sneaking in extra charges here and there! Can't fault the £3 for 24 hours parking that's about it Can't even pay cash at the bar!! Rooms are very very dirty and full of stains! You pay for what you get, would happily return once you accept cash again. Until then you've lost a customer for that very simple reason and as speaking to many people at the bar, they have also said they would not return because you are contributing to a cashless society
