Positive experience: We stayed overnight for an early flight. Dated hotel. Very old fashioned. Maz on reception was lovely and welcoming.

Negative experience: I would not stay at this hotel for free. It's next door to motorway. My room was not tidied for all the I a guest there. The parking spaces are muddy field on the property. I am issued with Parking Penalty Notice, my vehicle was registered in log in system at the front desk. I hate it there I could not wait for stay to end, so I could leave that hell hole.... never again.

Positive experience: Cheap and cheerful hotel. Visited to attend a party so stayed over. Rooms are very tired (but do have everything you need) and and could hear everything in the next room, but still good value for money especially if you’re on an early morning flight. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Fantastic experience: Excellent location if you are travelling from to or from, Gatwick airport. The facilities are great. We had a family room for 2 adults and 2 children. Great spa facilities, bar with pool table also. My daughter has Sensory issues and the staff were extremely accommodating to her needs. Especially concerning her diet, which is very hard to manage. The staff liaised with the chef who was ready to greet us in the morning to accommodate my child's specific dietary needs to ensure she was satisfied for a lengthy journey. Our adult cooked breakfast was perfect. Highly reccomend this place.

Fantastic experience: Amazing hotel, I’m unsure why the reviews are low. Went with a travel company for 3 nights and it was spot on. Food for breakfast and dinner was good, had Sunday dinner with meats and veg then a curry and rice section then vegetarian options. It was a buffet and it was lush. The breakfast had many options too, full English breakfast, toast, cereal. Had deserts for cake and stuff on dinner too.

Positive experience: An ok service. Nice location. Good breakfast. Rooms are not cleaned daily, lots of mold in corridors

Negative experience: Parking is shocking, cars and vans everywhere blocking entrances. Just tarmac it and paint proper lines instead of a free for all by the gym.

Tina Chatfield 1 year ago

Negative experience: Just picked up some friends and got a £60 parking fine. Had to wait for them to get ready. Disgusting is the understatement. Please be aware of this scumbags.

Fantastic experience: Spent a night there and was good.. staff was very helpful and nice. Arrived very late and left early so didn't have the chance to explore the hotel but the general impression is quite good.

Positive experience: Value for money ✅️ We stayed the night before our long haul trip. Room was OK. Onsite bar. Reception OK. About 15 minutes from Gatwick. We used it for excellent value airport parking. We paid just £99 for 1 night & 18 days parking. Our car was collected with no issues. I'd used this place every time I fly from Gatwick

Positive experience: Very well located for Gatwick Airport, nice little reasonably priced bar. The room is a little dated, however the bed was possibly the most uncomfortable in my life. Room 1157 please change the mattress.

Darren Amos 1 year ago

Negative experience: Below average with less than desirable clientel. Poor attitude from the gym guy and dreadful parking due to lots of users and imbeciles using it. I have stayed here before and it was this basic but this bad.

Negative experience: Well where do I start is it better to go Good to bad or Bad to Good I normally say go hard or go home as you see from stars service was great friendly helpful staff close to the air port for a breaker in travelling.. Now there was a very poorly layout to the car park with no real order to the madness some line demarcation might be a good starter and there are certainly now where near enough Disabled park at the current ratios 6 for a hotel of that size is quite honestly disappointing and disrespectful! now for the harshest part the rooms could be lovely but have been let go for very many years if you have every wanted to stay at the Outlook Hotel (the shinning hotel for those that read) said I didn't see the ghosts! The wallpaper was peeling off the the walls, carpet everywhere was threadbare with gripper showing here there pretty much everywhere the bathroom was horrendous with a toilet that was far too low to sit on comfortable damaged dated tiles grubby bath Matt and shower curtains come on CEO pull your finger out you could make this a much fresh better place oh forgot the lift smell was odd like cheese fish and dank weed I am sure this is not an air wick room air fresh fragrance I have ever seen on sale but it was cheaper than other not by much so we tried it and we only stayed few hours 9pm-3am for stop rest

Positive experience: Finding somewhere to park in the grounds was a nightmare!!! We ate at the restaurant inside and food/service/price were all fab. Room was ok. Bed uncomfortable but bearable for one night.

Fantastic experience: Great location, great staff , rooms are a little outdated but still more then fit for purpose , stayed pre flight , staff friendly and helpful , drinks are very well priced for a hotel , only real downside was the noise from the room upstairs that kept us awake till early hours of the morning but the staff did everything they could by asking them to keep it down they just didn't listen unfortunately Owww and could use some plugs near the bed Would stay again happily

Oli Marsh 1 year ago

Positive experience: A family room for 5 of us, it was pretty clean, staff were friendly and food was as I would expect from a 3 star. The main thing for me was the parking included for our entire holiday, however, it is still a taxi fare from Gatwick for around £15 to £25 depending on size of taxi needed.

Negative experience: It’s Britannia Hotels, so that should be your first Google reviews search - consistently the worst hotel group in the UK. This is far from one of their worst, but it’s not good either. The place has an interesting design which is probably its main good thing, but we had a ground floor room with a large wet patch in one corner and a proper damp smell. One whole corridor smelled even more musty and you could hear a dehumidifier going in one of the rooms, so I suspect they’ve got a big problem with water somewhere. The main attraction for it is as an airport parking hotel, and for this it’s ok, but don’t be conned about it being near the airport - it’s the other side of Crawley. Granted that’s only a 10min taxi ride away, but you are totally reliant on that - you can’t just stumble out of your hotel into the terminal, and using the airport’s name is a bit of a con. I would not go here again.

Negative experience: Not great 3 nights there and 3 different rooms, due to plumbing issues, but the food was good. The rooms weren't serviced when we asked for them to done, had to ask for fresh towels

Dawn Hayward 1 year ago

Negative experience: rooms were old and grubby, carpets needed a good clean. musty smell everywhere, evening meal was bland nothing was hot, everyone was clearing away their own plates as the waitresses were not interested in doing anything, breakfast was the best thing about this place.

Negative experience: Update.... We arrived on the 29th of September 2023. As soon as we arrived we got a putrid smell of cannabis. The front entrance to the hotel stunk. We checked in, got our room key, entered the room and the room stunk too, because the window was open and the weed smell was coming in the room. But we had a long day, and it was 0130 in the morning. Too late to start looking for other hotels. You've been warned!!!

Negative experience: Cheap and cheerful, you get what you pay for. Bar doesn’t open until 4.30pm, evening meal, buffet style. Could do with updating, rooms very old. But clean.

Negative experience: Hallways were a bit like being in the shining. Food in the upstairs restaurant was awful, so do not go inless you really need to. When we stayed for one night, there was a pleasant aroma of sewage as you walked up the stairs and entered the restaurant, but general musky smell for the whole place. The reception lady was helpful and told us what we needed to do to leave our car there whilst we were on holiday, but one night was too much for us, so feel for anyone who stays longer. Bunk beds were not suitable for 2 teenage kids. TV controls were old dirty and didn't work. Toilet flush didnt work, we told them and they came and had a look and told us it did and had to wait for water to fill the top, but what was actually happening was the handle was coming away in the cistern each time, so we had to mend this every single time we went to the toilet. The only good thing was the beautiful sunset that was in the sky on our arrival, have included a pic.

Fantastic experience: Great hotel and car park for Gatwick airport. A decent sized room, pretty decent, lacking only soap and shampoo (bring your own). Best way to park your car while abroad on holiday, excellent price for one night stay with dinner and eight days parking. Taxi to Gatwick South Terminal costs £17.50, when you return just get in your car and drive, no fuss. Recommended.

Positive experience: This was going to be a lot lower score, however, some great customer service from Anujaah saved the day. Our initial room was on the ground floor, smelt strongly of smoke, we tried opening the external door but the catch was broken. Anujaah arranged for a move to a new room upstairs which was far better. Overall the stay was okay. Very convenient for Gatwick airport, overnight stay and parking for 8 days reasonably priced. We did have the buffet dinner which was very reasonably priced for three courses.

John Allum 2 years ago

Positive experience: The rooms are showing their age and even the executive rooms are minimally equipped but the wedding I attending was well run and the foot was good. Parking is awful, so if you are lucky enough to see a space - grab it !!

Anne Valentine 2 years ago

Positive experience: Very pleasant, helpful staff. The room was clean and comfortable. The buffet meal was excellent value for money. The hotel is in a quiet location approx a 15mins drive to Gatwick.

Sarah 2 years ago

Negative experience: Basic hotel to say the least, but convenient if flying from Gatwick. Biggest complaint would be the rooms are freezing and stank of cigarettes as the staff and guests stand outside a fire exit to smoke. WiFi only available in communal areas unless you pay for it, which is another negative.

lowell wintrup 2 years ago

Negative experience: Complete disaster. Only hot water, no heat in rooms, wet hallways, mildew smell. If it wasn't for the hundreds of people showing up in large buses this motel would be out of business. Overpriced.

Positive experience: Fabulous large room for 2adults and 2 15 year olds Over looked the Court yard Had to ask for fan as room was hot. Breakfast was very poor quality and we paid 10.00 plus per adult , can't remember exact cost. Would definitely stay again but would not pay for breakfast and I heard the eve meals were the same

Positive experience: Overall is ok. Extremely old, clean, but needs renovation for sure! Food is ok but nit great that she for sure. Room was cold even knowing I was mid of July. It was probably me, but still couldn’t find extra blanket at least. Not enough staff and not very well presentable. This place needs to be renewed

Graham Stroud 2 years ago

Negative experience: While the check-in staff were brilliant, the breakfast experience was not up to the same standard. The coach parties trying to eat at the same time as us were the focus of their attention. The beds were also very hard, making for a less than great night's sleep. This was not our first choice hotel and I would not choose it again.

Positive experience: Dated hotel, but they keep it clean. Service was good. Ended up here due to flight cancelation and most hotels were full. Thanks for housing us at the last minute.

Negative experience: I stayed at this hotel for more than one night. The room was clean and tidy but there is no fridge, air con or fan, might I add, tiny TV too. In 28 degrees heat, I was afraid to leave the back door open at night ( I stayed in one of their downstairs rooms and the windows were more like doors) which meant a sweaty and next to no sleep at night. Some of the cleaners are rude and inconsiderate. They let the doors slam several times over at 7:30 in the morning when people might be having a lie in after a long flight or could possibly having a rest before catching a flight later on that day. The springs in the bed felt like rocks. Don't be fooled by the neatly made beds. Check your duvets, pillows and mattress covers for disgusting stains. The walls are paper thin, you can literally hear everything in the next room, even flatulence. You have to pay for WiFi in your room. The strength of the signal for the free one provided in the reception and bar areas is absolutely useless. You'd be better off using your own mobile data. It appears no one cares or reads the reviews so long as the tills keep ringing. It's cheap, but I will never set foot in there again or recommend this place to anybody.

IVAN QUESADA 2 years ago

Negative experience: No A/C. Temp 85F o more. In the rooms: - No a/c, no refrigerator, no save box, no made the rooms for 3 days. The vending machines are broken for 4 days. There is only 1 cooler with ice water for more than 200 customers, and the most time, it's empty... The electronic key does not work and needs to be replaced. The people and the desk are not cooperative to solve the problems. No cleaning and not pick-up the garbage for 4 days.

Positive experience: Easy check in, good size room with lovely clean linen and towels and comfortable beds. The bar and food was reasonably priced. An overall very good experience.

Tractorboy 1978 2 years ago

Positive experience: Cheap and cheerful, yes the corridors remind me of the shining, yes is dated, does what it's ment to,comfy nights sleep, buffet filled a hole. Those who want champagne on a lemonaid budget need to look elsewhere as with parking is so much cheaper than alternatives, Don't know what people expect for the price as you get what you pay for like everything

Neil Bowerman 2 years ago

Negative experience: Not a good experience - left early after just one night - room was dark and gloomy with old and worn furniture ,chair stained and marked , small holes / tears in duvet cover , old Philips non widescreen tiny tv , bath marked ,some mould marks on ceiling , above bath / pathetic shower (but at least warm ) Riom had very little natural light but net curtains over window . Recently fitted radiator without boxed in or painted pipes . Ceiling light fitting (rose) clearly been replaced and just had plastic cover screwed to ceiling to cover the hole ! Oh no wifi in rooms unless you want to pay £8 extra per 24hrs …. Left early after just one night - breakfast was nice and good selection carpark is a mess ,dark ,muddy in places and good luck finding a parking space . Won’t be going back surprisingly

Leigh Young 2 years ago

Positive experience: You get what you pay for. our room was small with a small double bed the bathroom was nice. We were also in a separate building to the main one. ALSO you have to pay separately for tje facilities £4 each and £1 for a towel that was the size of a hand towel. We won't be back

Trevor Townsend 2 years ago

Positive experience: Comfy rooms for a one night stay in readiness for a flight the following morning. Accommodating staff who were happy to assist. Food was ok as well. Overall the hotel could do with a refurbishment but fine for overnight

Nathan Sanders 2 years ago

Negative experience: A reasonably nice room but the service is terrible. It took us a really long time to check in despite a line of only 3 people. We ran into an issue where our key stopped working when approached for a new key, the ladies on the desk tried to tell me that another key would not work nor were they willing to come to the room to open the door and it became a large issue to receive another key for the room. A really disappointing experience to an otherwise adequate stay

Will 2 years ago

Positive experience: The price and what you get for it was good value. Bit tired in feel but can't complain about that, could do with a bloody good clean. But the pillow you ate supplied with was the worst I have ever tried to sleep on which meant no sleep and a very early start.

MEL Brown 2 years ago

Negative experience: If you arrive after 9pm whether that's the time you fly in , coach arrives or you can't make it before that time there is no hotel provision for food or snacks The rooms were not cleaned for the 2 days we stayed there The room keys had to be recharged everytime we left then wanted to re-enter the room. Finding this out only after you got to the 2nd floor was frustrating. No bin in the actual room only the bathroom. No actual iron in the room. Woodwork in rooms chipped and needs re-painting. 1 bath and 1 hand towel in the room for 2 people Only 4 sugar sachets, 4 milk pods etc for 2 people for the weekend Breakfast: food in restaurant only cold milk for breakfast. Having to ask for food containers to be topped up Being shouted at to prove we had prepaid for meal, suprise all heads turn towards us. I could go on but fed-up Wouldn't recommend to anyone

John Raffel 2 years ago

Positive experience: Feb 2023 Overnight stay before a 6 Nations trip to Rome. The bar was ok, a little slow on service. The restaurant buffet was OK. All you can eat, but limited offering. It was very quiet in the restaurant. The rooms were OK. The beds were hard, which is ok if you like a hard bed.

Julie Tillings 2 years ago

Positive experience: Nice hotel room was ok bed comfortable but long walk with heavy luggage as we have mobility problems and had stated this when booking. Staff unfriendly and unhelpful and no one seemed very happy. Paid in advance for 3 course evening meal and after sitting in the bar watching other people eat some lovely food, we were offered a very small basic buffet upstairs!! Again with mobility issues very difficult to get up and down. Taxi was quoted at£17.50 each way and signs outside said the same but on arrival at the airport driver said £22.50!!!

Colin Smith 2 years ago

Positive experience: Need somewhere when the Government took over the Cambridge to house immigrants. Park where you can in extensive grounds, car is left where you park it if you are flying off from Gatwick. Room was dated but clean with all bathroom facilities, tea and coffee, even a trouser press. Good food but served in the bar as the restaurant was closed. £17 for a taxi to Gatwick, good service, on time.

Negative experience: Booked this room in desperation at 10.15 at night. Price, availability and location were the only criteria so not looking for luxury..... And didn't get it ! Very tatty room (1194 ground floor) with a tiny portable radiator as the heating wasn't working (-5° outside). Shower needed the strength of Garth to turn it on and off but the water was hot. Indifferent staff, car park a dirt track and it's actually not that close to the airport Well past it's sell by date.

Fantastic experience: Budget hotel at £59 for a nights stay in Jan 2023, book it through Google hotel search for 5% discount. Free parking if needed. Taxis are available 24/7, £10 cab fare into town, or K2 Crawley (have come here to see the European Table tennis championship qualifiers, never seen a gym that massive!!). Continental Breakfast is £11 but I simply requested 4 eggs omelette & 4 French toast. I have them everyday sometimes with sugar or cinnamon, but the Portugese chef made them beautifully! So I asked her if she can make another 20 for me to take home back to Harrow, northwest London. Spa facilities: Jacuzzi mixed, Steam room & Sauna in each of the changing rooms, not mixed with a small gym. Machines and dumbbells are old but you're able to get a good workout. £4 charge, £1 for towel hire & £1 for lock. Hotel bed - was comfortable with one pillow, but some of the main light bulbs didn't work in room 2153. Outside they have benches & inside they have a bar & pool table.

Katherine R Beria 2 years ago

Negative experience: Worst stay ever ! There bed room has bed bugs and they were crawling in the bed so I've asked to move rooms and ended up getting biten more than 7times. Second of all I did £50 deposit and they refused to do my refund because my friend and her partner had a argument and that was it . Lady at reception who claims to be the manager with blonde short hair has no manners had a terrible attitude and was so unhelpful. Never going back to that hotel and I will be raising this further .

Jennifer Francis 2 years ago

Positive experience: We stayed one night and have parking while we were away. Room not bad although a bit tired but the bed was awful, worst cheapest mattress ever I was up and down all night and didn't sleep at all, plus to top it all really noisy neighbours banging on the door opposite and not getting a result. Food was a good price a buffet style three courses or bar food fish and chips etc.

Lesley Young 2 years ago

Positive experience: Had to find somewhere last minute having been let down by another hotel. We were really pleased with the Europa, rooms were clean and comfortable. Bar food was good. Parked the car in the car park, and that's where it stayed while we were on holiday, didn't have to hand the keys in. Will definitely stay here again.

Yvonne Ashton 2 years ago

Negative experience: Would NOT recommend this hotel. Booked 8 days parking from 31st December with one night hotel stay on return of our holiday on 7th January. When we arrived on 31st Dec we were told by an extremely rude and arrogant male receptionist that our booking was 8 days parking from 7th Jan and told if we left the car we would be fined as he would not let us enter our car registration. The company we booked with rang the hotel manager to confirm our booking. Be aware to take wellingtons as the car park is atrocious. On return from our holiday we struggled to get the car out of the mud. The rooms also smell fusty.

Mark Clarke 2 years ago

Negative experience: After a low star review on our way out we had this hotel to look forward to on our return.... sadly. This place is well past it. Check in on our return was a nightmare. The lady behind the desk tried, but her male colleague was rude, and ranting that we had got the booking wrong, yo the point where he argued what the date was?! After his more senior female colleague came out, it was resolved, but then the room we were given didn't have enough beds. This was then sorted, but the room we got had a metal bunk bed that squeeked with every move, a single bed that you could feel every coil through, a TV that didn't work and bins that weren't emptied. The place is so hot you can't sleep. This was all confusing until I spotted the 'New Pontins' logo on the alcohol licence. For anyone who has seen the documentaries on the state of their places, then this place matches their much diminished brand. I'd avoid, it will leave you tired and frustrated at either end of a holiday.

Lotti North 2 years ago

Negative experience: I cannot believe I've made this mistake of booking this hotel 3 times, the photos are so deceptive. Service is exceptionally poor and slow at reception, I was ignored by a staff member as she wrote out a personal text in front of me. The rooms are basic, dated and just about clean. The TV in our family room did not work and there's no internet/signal in the rooms unless you pay additional charges. On the flip side, it's a easy trip to Gatwick from the hotel.

peter reynolds 2 years ago

Positive experience: Ideal location for Gatwick Airport and an early flight. Very reasonable price for a night's stay with a week's parking. Bit of a tired feel to the room, but perfectly fine and clean. Had a buffet meal in the evening, basic but, again, reasonable price, we pre booked via holiday extras and got a discount too. No problem finding a parking space at around 16-30, though the check-in was a bit slow (mainly due to other customer issues and not hotel issues), could do with a second member of staff to check in at peak times. Would use again.

Negative experience: Stayed here overnight before an early start for our holiday the next morning. We arrived and there were cars parked in bushes and absolutely no parking spots available, looked abandoned! The hotel looked run down and outdated, dark dingy corridors, tiny tv that didn’t work, the bar area looked like something out of the 80’s, and the food had probably been sat in the freezer since then aswell! Ridiculously overpriced food and it was disgusting. Staff we spoke too were absolutely lovely, however being woken up by a Radom fire alarm in the middle of the night wasn’t. Even tho it was cheap, really wasn’t worth the money and I am actually worried about leaving my car in their car park while I’m away. Almost as disappointed in the hotel as my mum is in me, and that says it all really!

Michael Parsons 2 years ago

Negative experience: This is typical Britannia hotel territory. The bar and dining area felt like they hadn't been updated since 1975. The bar had a single member of staff taking about 20 minutes to serve customers, be it drink or food orders. The menu and food reminded me of a 1990's pub with the kind of meals that require zero culinary skill to make or prepare and taste and look on par with this. A similarly long wait was met at reception even though it was only us and one other couple booking in at the time. Later I saw queues of 10+ people, god know how long they had to wait (maybe they got lucky and had to stand there all night, saving them the trauma of having to experience their rooms). The rooms themselves were the biggest disappointment. They were dilapidated and dirty. It wasn't like an attempt to clean them hadn't occurred, it had just been a clearly rushed job - for the last several years - leading to a build up of grime in the edges of the room and a pervading musty smell throughout. The bed was so uncomfortable it was almost impossible to sleep on; it wasn't so much a take of 'the princess and the pea' as it was one of 'the vagabond and the mattress filled with rocks'. The corridor to our room had a broken fire exit, which led to the area being freezing cold (fortunately just the corridor not the room itself). This also posed certain security risks, but I'm not sure the Britannia group show any major concerns for such petty things as customer safety. The only upside is the hotel's proximity to Gatwick airport and the fact you can leave your car there whilst abroad.

Nathan Marsh 2 years ago

Negative experience: The rooms are very tired and old fashioned. Don't expect too much from here. If you are leaving your car then you literally parking it wherever you can find a bit of ground and picking it back up from that place. They do have cctv but wouldn't rely on that if you found any damage to your car. Your car does not go to a secure car park.

Debbie Foskett 2 years ago

Positive experience: The car parking is atrocious, it took us ten minutes to find a space which was on a grass verge & as it hadn't stopped raining all day I was worried that the car would get stuck. The room was very nice with a comfortable bed. Bathroom was clean & tidy with a bath & shower. There was cooked breakfast, cereals & continental breakfast available. Had a croissant - don't bother, it was dry & not made from flaky pastry so was stodgy. It's in a good location close to the airport & the M23.

Fantastic experience: Stayed here before flying out on holiday. We opted for the buffet Carvery meal, which was excellent value. We booked a taxi from the hotel free phone which arrived on time but we were charged for a large car even though we booked a small car.

Negative experience: Hardly any plug sockets in room.tv never seems to work properly.cant get signal or Internet on phone but can buy WiFi off hotel for a robbing price.key cards for rooms don't work, checking in desk is very long wait to get room key card updated on daily basis.all round a terrible place to stay. Stay away from booking the lodge as its not fit for a homeless person.

Miss Google 2 years ago

Positive experience: Ignore the 1* bad reviews, this hotel is actually OK! The decor & furniture in the rooms is a bit 1970s Spaniah hotel, but it was very clean and beds comfy. We had the buffet food each night as we were on a coach trip, it was OK and had an adequate variety of food, not sure I would have paid £14.50 for it if I was a regular paying guest however. The bar food looked good though. Didn't see many staff, but the ones we did see (bar & restaurant staff) were all friendly enough. Was a bit odd not having someone come to clean the room each day so had to ask for extra towels & toilet paper from reception but again it wasn't a massive issue just had to make our own beds each day which wasn't a big deal. Would I stay again? Yes if on a coach trip that coat £130 for 3 nights, maybe not if I was paying £100 per night for a room.

Shan tilly 2 years ago

Negative experience: I would give 0 stars if possible. Firstly it took almost an hour of driving round and round the huge wasteland to find somewhere to park. I say wasteland because that is what it is. The grounds are extremely poor...its not a carpark. Not suitable for people with mobility needs. The cars are dumped everywhere, parked poorly where they found a bit of space. The lighting is poor and non exsistant in some areas outside. The reception looks rustic and amazing but the smell from the old carpet is awful. The seating is old and sticky it looks drab. The restaurant is awful. Had the carvery....it was 100% bland. You can only have water to drink too. The smell from the carpet was also bad in the restaurant too. The whole place needs to be updated. You felt as if you were bothering the bar staff when you approached the bar for a drink. So uninviting. They need to cheer up. The rooms are dated and the bathroom disgusting. The toilets are poorly maintained. Very old dated toilet seats, old rusted and water stained taps. Please see pictures! The garden needs some TLC. The hotel has the potential to be so lovely...but someone has just stopped caring for it. Maybe not the right staff working there....as just a little more hard work could keep the hotel in good condition. Clean the glass, wipe the handrails, buff the leather seats and do repairs. It's not too late to turn it around. I would not recommend...and will not be returning. Only plus is that it is so close to the airport.

Negative experience: Wow oh wow. The pics of the hotel are a little unreflective of the current state of the hotel. Clearly busy and remains open due to package of hotel stay and parking. Parking! A very small over crowded parking area at the front of hotel, then nothing more than a waste land around the hotel. No proper surface, dirt pot holes everywhere, no lighting, no parking bays, literally a free for all. I rocked up in my brand new in 72 plate, less than 1k on the clock. Was petrified all holiday what I was going to get back too. Had to park under a tree and hedge! Rooms very very dated, needs an update. Carpets smell musty, food not brill. Dirty bed linen, 3 towels for a family of 5, mattresses are old old cheapest of cheap spring with no life in them. Toilet didn't flush. Plus points, Bar sold alcohol and staff were amazingly friendly.

Richard Hemingway 2 years ago

Positive experience: Plus point you can leave your car (for a reasonable rate) when holidaying via Gatwick and it has excellent access off and onto the M23. Currently staffing levels suffering like much of the rest of the hospitality business. The room we were in had a damaged shower control and there was black mould on the sealing (a few applications of a strong commercial product would resolve). The food (buffet style) was disappointing and could have been improved by reducing time left in keep warm conditions. Generally the public areas were tired and showed their wear. A refurbishment is indicated.

Owen Murphy 2 years ago

Negative experience: I had the displeasure of staying a night in the Lodge. I had booked for four nights but could only stomach one. The lodge stank of weed upon entering and the room smelt damp and unclean. The room was small and dated with most bits of furniture needing to be replaced. The mattress was old and uncomfortable, with a extremely hard pillow. The bathroom was dirty and dated. The towel rail had been broken off with only the fixing remaining. Parts of the ensuit looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. The parking was unorganised and packed. Cars seemed to park anywhere and everywhere. During the first night the fire alarm had a fault and preceeded to bleep for half the night. Staff were not the most helpful and I had the feeling the complaints were a regular occurance. Would not recommend for the £100 a night you can get a much nicer place to stay in the local area.

Negative experience: Absolute dump. Couldn't find a parking space, and spent ages driving around a poorly lit and organised what shouldn't be called a parking lot. Rooms can be found at the end of long corridors. My room smells of cigarette smoke. The alarm went off at 10pm for no particular reason, and we all traipsed outside for nothing. Although cheap, wouldn't recommend for value. Staff friendly enough.

Negative experience: TLDR: Do not stay here. The Europa likes to look fancy and high class, but it's an absolute mess. The only good things are that the food is great and that the staff are willing to help, most of the time. The rooms are some of the worst I've stayed in, for some reason they're still using outdated cards that are sensitive to any tech so you'll be walking to your room and back to reception constantly because your key card wont let you into the room. And when you do get in, the doors are next to impossible to close and constantly get stuck. The advertising for the hotel says free WiFi is available, it's a trick, the free WiFi is in communal areas only, you have to pay £7 per day in your own room, oh and the pool, spa, and gym that they love to advertise also isn't free so if you're there for that, prepare to be disappointed. As I said most of the time staff are friendly, but gods forbid you catch one of them at an inconvenient time, like when theyre busy texting someone or busy scrolling through Instagram, beacuse you'll immediately be treated as an inconvenience, tuts and sighs included. Beds are comfy, but you'll be stuck with the same sheets the whole stay, room service only services rooms when they've been vacated, minor issue but for people looking for better hygiene this isn't the place. I hate to say this, but there is also the risk of someone getting into your room, I had an incident where a member of staff opened my door thinking I had left, and I was in the middle of changing, a complete violation of privacy. Stay here at your own risk because its not even a budget hotel, and it's looked after and treated like one, this hotel should cost half of what it does to stay in, that's the only way any of these things become remotely acceptable.

Positive experience: Looks great from the outside communal area, bar, restaurant all good. Bedrooms very dated, uncomfortable bed, smells of damp (corridors too), wallpaper peeling. Would be 5* if rooms and corridors were upgraded

Fantastic experience: This hotel was far better than we expected after reading the reviews. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The food was very acceptable and plenty of it. Swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna to ourselves. We would be very happy to stay here again as it was fantastic value for money.

Negative experience: Advice from our recent experience: Don't think because you booked a parking space that you actually have one. It's every man for himself once you get there. You will have to get creative to get a spot. When you are allocated a room ask if it's accessible from the lift (a lot of rooms aren't). If it isn't then insist on one that is to save lugging luggage up stairs. Take pictures of your car before leaving it there (as I say the parking is creative so likely to get door jarred at least) Get down to checkout early! Service at reception isn't speedy. Taxi service is pricey, compare the price you are quoted with 'Bolt'. Be surprised that Bolt can be cheeper than both local cabby and Uber. Staying for a while? Bring your own food/snacks. Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favour!!

Negative experience: We originally booked a Lodge room, and were shocked to see how bad it was. The curtain was falling off the rail, the bed wasn't even a double bed, there was no space to walk around the bed, and the toilet paper in the bathroom felt like tissue paper. Considering they charge £109 for the night, we thought this was disgraceful - you can get much nicer rooms for a cheaper price at a Premier Inn or Travel Lodge. The reception team were helpful, as they upgraded us to a family room for free after we complained. The family room was much bigger, but the walls were very thin so we could hear everyone else. The beds were very uncomfortable - we got 2 single beds rather than a double. The toilet seat was broken, the toilet paper once again felt like tissue paper. The bathroom was actually quite dirty. Not to mention, check out was 10am but the cleaners were knocking on doors at 09:50am asking people to leave! Baring in mind we paid an extra £10 for late check out, they still knocked on our door. The only good thing was the water in the shower was hot. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you set your expectations very low and only need it for a quick place to stay before going to the airport. It's not worth the price they charge, the rooms are very outdated and not the most comfortable.

Gaynor Elliott 3 years ago

Positive experience: The hotel is in a good location just off the M23 & M25. The reception team were lovely & so very helpful they get a massive 5* from me. The Taxi telephone needs replacing you can't barely hear the person on the other end (Make sure what you are paying for 1st from the taxi place). The lobby remainders us all of a Disney world hotel & not in a good way more like a horror movie. The interior is in much need of a makeover. The rooms need a lot of TLC, but it was clean & we did sleep for the little time we had. They do food & drink here but we went to the pub next door. Smoking outside the main doors is a no no. They should have a designated area away from the main doors to smoke in. The grounds need some Tree surgeons to tidy it up. Cheap & cheerful hotel with airport parking what more do you need.

Angela Hayden 3 years ago

Negative experience: Where to begin, one of the receptionists was very rude. We got into our room (myself and my daughter) to be greeted by the wardrobe door off and the curtains hanging off. There was a very musty damp smell. I notified the receptionist but the repairs didn't get done. (we were there for 3 nights) My daughter couldn't use the pool as we didn't get back to the hotel in time, there was absolutely no exceptions, plus you had to pay. There was a charge of £7 per day for wifi even though we were out all day and sleeping at night. The food wasn't great, pretty much the same thing every night. The kitchen staff and floor staff were all congregated at the front of the dining area chatting and eating, I find this very unprofessional. The icing on the cake was when we tried to use the hair dryer but it melted, luckily my daughter didn't use it. By far the worst hotel we have ever stayed in.

Negative experience: Tired hotel with unhelpful staff. In the first room I had the smoke alarm kept flashing a very bright light every 2 minutes so i was moved to another room as apparently this was a safety issue. The room I was moved to, at midnight, smelt heavily of smoke and also had the alarm flashing but this was ok!!??Charging additionally for wi-fi was a shock. The car park isn't big enough for the amount of guests.

Prime Jive 3 years ago

Negative experience: Was a bed for the night and a car park for our car while we were away for 2 nights. A basic ask would be a decent room and bathroom...unfortunately this wasn't the case. We had a double bed with one pillow each. Beside the double bed was a set of drawers you couldn't open...because it was beside the bed. The smoke detector in the room constantly flashed a green light. As for the TV, my monitor at work was bigger than the TV in the room...and the picture kept blacking out every other minute. The bathroom was dingey with just dim lights either side of the mirror. Then the worst thing was the shower...the water just dribbled out of the shower head ie no pressure whatsoever. It's the worst shower we've ever experienced. As per other reviews, the hotel is in desperate need of a thorough deep clean and refurb. The parking is haphazard and there are signs everywhere saying the hotel isn't responsible for any damage to your car ie leave it at you own risk. Which is fine, but the way people park means that the risk of damage is quite high... We won't be staying here again, unfortunately. Couldn't fault the pub across the road though...

Negative experience: Had a 1 night stay before going to Gatwick and thank god it was only 1 night. The reception didn't seem too friendly and the whole place was tired and old. I had a glass of wine and tbh I can drink most things but it smelt musty and even tasted worse. The room was so hot even with the fan that did nothing. Don't bother with the buffet dinner it hardly had anything there especially for vegetarians. .my daughter is a vegetarian and the chef kindly bought her out a bowl of chips. Saw people having bar food and that actually looked lovely so regretted not going for that. We never booked this hotel our booking got changed last minute and I will not book this hotel again unfortunately..

Negative experience: Been here three times now and on each visit the quality of the rooms has gone down each time. This time, cracked basin in bathroom scuffed and shabby room. Bathroom not very clean on arrival, resident spider appears to have been dead for some time now. Room size very small as well, couldn't get between bed and wall. Card to enter room kept having to be reset to gain access back into the room. Location good for our needs though.

Andy Wills 3 years ago

Positive experience: Look at this as cheap airport parking and it's good value. The room itself was not good - one tiny non openable window at floor level in a room with three beds and no fan or Aircon was not great in summer heat. The included dinner was provided by a nice guy but it's a self service buffet that fell through a time warp from 1983.

Fantastic experience: Great value for money if you're planning on going know holiday. As a room and hotel parking works out as excellent value. Tried calling a day after return as grandson had left his comforter there unable to get a reply even though it was ringing.

Negative experience: Our longstanding booking wasn't on their computer when it was all confirmed months ago. We spent 1 hour at reception. The rooms are worse than average. The beds are poor. Far to much noise from guests next door screaming at each other violently. Consequently no sleep. Car parking ok. I appreciate the moronic guests next door wasn't the hotels fault but no intervention. Where was security?. It was sat on its backside doing nothing. Staff tried to be helpful but would have got things sorted quicker if they listened. They didn't so had to do the the booking all over again.

Positive experience: Used the hotel a parking for Gatwick. Staff very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy, just the decor needs updating, but nothing to worry about. Parking can be difficult, but take your time and you'll find a space. Approx 10 mins in cab to Gatwick.

Janet Fleuty 3 years ago

Negative experience: Car parking area large but crammed full.Dirty room and hallways, with only one towel to share in the room, no bathroom floor towel in spite of slippery floor when wet sign. No spoon for cups. Light switches not working. Nobody on reception to air our views. Never returning.

Jade Thomas 3 years ago

Positive experience: We arrived expecting the worst. Found a parking space and checked in quickly with the staff who were pleasant and helpful. The hotel is dated but our room was clean and comfortable with hot water, TV and coffee/tea. We didn't eat here but went to the Froghole which was awful. The drinks at the bar aren't inflated due to it being a hotel either. The hotel was extremely busy but that's to be expected when you consider the price. I haven't given 4 stars because rhe hotel is 4 star it isn't by any means. But in my experience the reviews are so bad I dont think they are justified. The hotel serves a purpose as a cheap car parking alternative when travelling from Gatwick. All in in a good experience.

Negative experience: It used to be a plush hotel. Not anymore! It appears to be now used for coach parties and stay a night and park while you are on holiday. I have stayed in better $30 dollar motels in the US. We arrived late in the evening and found it difficult to park anywhere. The floor of the small room we were allocated was not very clean, we had a kettle and two mugs, no spoon. Razor socket in the bathroom was broken and dangerous, shower hose was fitted wrong way round, and water from the shower obviously spilled over judging by the mould on the floor. The sign "slippery when wet" told it all. There was only one hand towel and one bath towel no floor towel. The sound of traffic on the M23 lulled us to sleep. Breakfast was not an expansive choice, orange juice was watered down. The rest of the hotel was "tired" and not very clean.

Negative experience: Booked a 2 night stay for my 50th birthday because we were going to a concert in Ardingly. Arrived late Friday night (we did inform hotel prior to arriving we would be late) but found it near on impossible to find a parking space, ended up parking on a very dodgy looking bit of waste land in the car park as it was the only place we could find, had the same on the next night, complete nightmare with parking . We went to book in first night and was sent to the wrong floor, we even went back to Reception as we thought it was wrong to be sent back to same floor and was told "don't just stop at first corridor keep going" so we went back and worked out for ourselves that it was wrong and found our room on a completely different floor! Just what you need at nearly midnight with a case up and down stairs, room was OK, it was clean but very tired, pillows a problem as they were hard as nails, asked for replacement for the following night and replacements were also rock hard. Curtains did not open and cord on curtain pole was definitely not child safe. Shower dripped and was extremely difficult to turn off we actually had to use a towel to turn the controls which was dangerous because it also turned the temperature dial so you scolded yourself while trying. We did go to tell reception but with only one member of staff and a queue we gave up. Breakfast was OK just a standard buffet full English. We used pool which was cold but nice hot tub. Shame all 3 hairdryers in ladies were out of order! Would we stay again..... No! Hotel need updating and car parking needs addressing with more lighting and better surface! So much of it feels like your off road with rubble, potholes and tight to manoeuvre due to the amount of cars left there. Concert was great though

Negative experience: Shocking. Paid extra for the “executive” double and half the furniture in the room was missing. No table or chairs as advertised, instead there was one metal conference chair. 1 teabag, 1 milk and 1 hand towels. The room was barely cleaned to the point there was still dirty hand marks all over the grab bar in the shower. Staff we disinterested and unhelpful when we spoke to them about the room, no apology no offer of rectifying anything. Absolutely disgusted by the whole thing especially because it seems no one at Britannia cares…vile vile vile

Alan Woods 3 years ago

Negative experience: Definitely not worth the money they charge. Hotel is run down and tatty. Staff was rude. Both rooms had a horrible smell and could of done with a good clean. Bathrooms need attention When your charging £120 a night you got to make sure the basics are right and the room is clean, (£68 per night max, and that’s being generous) Seems like the owners don’t care about their building or their over paying guests comfort whilst at the hotel. Will not be staying here again and definitely not recommend too anyone not even to my worst enemy

Saskia Luna 3 years ago

Negative experience: We had to wait over 1.5 hour to check in at midnight after a long flight because they were so short staffed and has a massive queue. Which seems to be common on the reviews. Also left a ring there and was messaging for two months and would get a brief reply every 3 weeks and eventually told no even though I know I left it there and sent photos and wanted to go back to collect. Absolutely appalled really

Negative experience: Booking was incorrect over Internet took over 45 minutes to try to check in due to massive wedding party and minimal staff. Resulting in no parking being available for our holiday and unable to get alternate at such short notice . Despite leaving the hotel with no booking we returned to a parking fine for £100 for waiting in the queue. Will never use this hotel again .

Negative experience: Myself & my husband only booked the Europa due to us going to a wedding nearby & we will never stay there again. We booked the room weeks until advance & paid £120 for one of the rooms in the “lodge.” Lodge?? More like a dated, rundown forgotten about b&b. We rang in the afternoon to let the staff know that we won’t be checking in until just after midnight. We got told that was fine. When we arrive at 12.30am the male receptionist said he already had turn away 4 couples due to it being fully booked. He wasn’t sure we even had a room!! Excuse me?? We have paid £120 for the lodge & got told we can check in late. Well “luckily for us that we did ring previously” Again,we have paid & reserved so there should not be an issue regardless of the time we check in & my god were we pleased we weren’t there long…! The room was a smelly, grubby box room! Dirty walls, curtains off the hook,no room to walk around the bed, dirty carpet, hard mattress & hard pillows. Old dated bathroom, one tiny bar of soap,no shower gel & to add to the no’s of everything there was also no hot water so we had no bath or shower! The main reception in the actual hotel part is dated & just neglected. The bar was closed,we couldn’t get a coffee. It looks so nice on the outside, such a shame. There’s no staff anywhere. Dirty cups everywhere, just a horrible, uninviting, unpleasant place to be. If you can,AVOID at all costs!!

Negative experience: I have booked a room in Europa Gatwick Hotel & Spa on 22 June 2022 (with spouse). I verified with the hotel that late arrival (night, late flight) is OK. We took a taxi from the Gatwick airport (paid 21 pounds), arrived to the hotel, but at the reception we were informed that there is no room for us because of overbooking and we had to spend the night on a sofa in the lobby. In the morning we took a taxi back to the airport (paid 17.50 pounds) and continued our trip from there. It would have been easier and more pleasant to stay at the airport! Beware of this hotel!

Negative experience: If I could leave a zero-star rating that's what is deserved. Staff were outright rude and had a disgusting attitude towards customers (not only including myself). I thought it might just be a bad day for them but when I saw the state of the room I was appalled... hair still left in the sheets and dirty shower basin... not what I expected at all. Wish I'd read reviews before booking.

Negative experience: Staff were lovely but the hotel really needs some TLC. Front area was nice but therl room wasn't good. The chair in the room was so stained I was shocked it hadn't been thrown out or cleaned, really it wouldn't take a lot to make the place reasonable and it gave it just depressing vibe, it's as if Britannia Hotels just do not have any respect for themselves. Breakfast was inedible, c'mon guys a fry up isn't hard to get right. The room was clean (apart from the disgusting chair) and the staff were lovely.

Positive experience: Parking and room worked out really cheap for two weeks we had an early morning flight so only had a few hours sleep in room, rooms are basic but ok for the price, we booked the 3 course meal, and save your money it was terrible, if we'd known there was a pub a short walk we'd of done that instead. Overall cheap and cheerful apart from the food.

Negative experience: Got to the hotel got into my room it hadn’t been cleaned, bin overflowing bed not made and towels in the bath, breakfast starts at 7am which meant I was late to work everyday then one day they had breakfast opened at 6 I was told I couldn’t eat at that time because I wasn’t polish even tho the food was ready and the restaurant was empty I was made to wait till 7, the restaurant manager is very rude , trying to sleep at night is a nightmare people in the beer garden up till all hours shouting and being loud. I recommend everyone stay clear of this hotel it’s a disgrace

Negative experience: What can I say : it was not a nice experience. £194 for 2 nights no breakfast stayed in a room with single glazed windows and no air tight . Curtains blowing away with wind Curtains with cigarette woles Walls dirty Carpet with cigarette burns For the money I expected more. Never to be repeated again

Negative experience: Very tatty hotel. Needs serious updating. The beds were very uncomfortable, you could feel the springs through the mattress. Fire alarm woke us up at 2 am and kept on going off after. It was also very hard to find a parking space. They say they have an atm on site and a cocktail bar. They were both shut down and not in use. Would not recommend this. Not a good start to the holiday. When we complained about this the staff were not bothered.

Negative experience: Genuinely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. On arrival the staff were rude and I couldn’t get a key that actually worked due to the manager ‘being on the toilet’. Then got to my room and there were SLUGS and long black hairs all over the hotel room. There was no hot water so I waited until the morning thinking they’d turned it off. No. They had a leak and there was no hot water anywhere in the hotel. There was no lift for the luggage or staff to help. The following day there was no food or beverage available. The window also wouldn’t shut properly on the hotel and when I called to reception I was ignored, finally answered and the staff member told me I had what I had booked. They offered a 10% refund for the lack of pretty much everything. I would never ever ever advise anyone to stay here.

Positive experience: As one who travels a lot due to work, I only had time to check in, run a bath and fall asleep. Though I wanted to have a swim and enjoy the spa, I was too exhausted to even find the dining. Room is of a basic standard quality, so it won't be a place for anyone with a taste for superb standards. Parking is a bit difficult to find as it gets busy and I had to pay an extra fee. Staff are friendly. This is definitely in mi opinion does the job for a short stay.
