Waterfront Spa and Health Club: Opinions
Fantastic experience: I had the most incredible experience at Waterfront Spa Dover! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism. The atmosphere is serene, with stunning views that make it the perfect place to relax and unwind. The treatments were absolutely fantastic—my massage was one of the best I've ever had, leaving me feeling completely refreshed and rejuvenated. The facilities are spotless, modern, and well-maintained, adding to the overall luxury of the experience. The staff were attentive, friendly, and truly went above and beyond to ensure I had a wonderful visit. Whether you're looking for a peaceful escape or a pampering treat, I highly recommend Waterfront Spa Dover. I can't wait to return!
Fantastic experience: Amazing stay! Food, staff and rooms are amazing! They have a gym, sauna and steam alongside some custom spa treatments which really helped me and friends relax after a day in Dover walking up the cliffs. Everything i needed was there, the ambience is quiet, relaxed and stress free. The staff are very accomplished and are really happy to help! Would definitely recommend.
Positive experience: I booked a full day spa including two procedures. On arrival I was disappointed to find out my reservations have not been on the system and it looked like none of these were booked. Luckily I had my email confirmation and the receptionist Isabel has done a fantastic job fitting me around the existing bookings. Isabel was very helpful and demonstrated some lovely customer care skills. The treatments were nice and relaxing. The spa facilities are small so I imagine it gets too busy at peak times.
Negative experience: I wanted to book a longer massage and a facial but thankfully they only had a 30 minute slot. Initially I had booked a de-stress neck shoulder and back massage. But after reading the leaflet in my room changed to an alll body relaxing massage. Honestly I am not sure what I was given. It was definitely not an all body massage nor was it relaxing. I have never winced or said “ouch” so much during a massage. Never was I asked if the pressure was ok. In fact the masseuse didn’t speak to me at all! 5 minutes in I almost stopped her, and I really wish I had. She didn’t massage both sides equally at all, and my neck and shoulders are already stiff less than 2 hours later. I know I will be in pain for my journey home tomorrow. Please be careful if you book here, especially if you have any injuries. But the place looked clean and well maintained.
Negative experience: Wife and I paid for a massage and use of the spa facilities. However, neither the sauna or steam room were working. The jacuzzi was cold and there was no hot water. They didn't say this before I paid. When I asked for a refund, they were reluctant. Eventually the GM came down and they paid us a refund and we got a free afternoon tea. However, the experience was completely spoiled. We went the year before and it was much better. However, seems standards have slipped since. Won't come back again.
Negative experience: We booked the full day package which included lunch and 2 treatments. The was food lovely and the treatment were what you would expect. However the facilities where not what you would want, all the wall and ceiling where covered in water, to the point the ceiling was dripping on me. Also there was mold growing on the ceiling next to a big hole. There was no place to hang a towel and the change rooms had no hanger to put clothes when getting changed. There was on top of the toilet or the wet floor. When the jacuzzi bubbles were on there was an overpowering smell of chlorine which made it too painful to stay in the spa. Also the Steam Room was so hot and steamy, when the two mixed it was difficult to see. Due to this the day experienced I paid for lasted only 3 and an half hours. This time include the 2 course lunch and an hour of treatments.
Negative experience: My daughter purchased this experience, which comes with a glass of Prosecco each. We paid extra for massages. First there was a mix up at desk as to what we were supposed to be having, during my massage the fire alarm went off four times with no explanation given. My daughter was trying to find out if there was a fire, and was told everything is fine. I asked where our prosecco was, and never received it. Someone was always looking for it. When I complained at the desk, I was asked, do you want your presco now as I was leaving. As to the fire alarm going off 4 times, no explanation. Wasn't even sure they were going to refund my deposit for the locker, as reception staff seemed unsure of procedure. No I will not be returning, staff need more training.
Positive experience: Food was lovely, spa could have been better alot of money for not a great place
Positive experience: 5 stars for Bonnie the massage therapist, she is great at her job and I want to go back. The spa could use some work, steam room was noisy and there was not enough steam. There was dirty brown water sitting underneath were you rest the cup to fill with drinking water. My wife’s massage therapist was not good and cut the massage short. My rating would be lower but Bonnie is has brought it up.
Fantastic experience: A rare jewel in the coastlines of beautiful Dover Kent where it may not always be sunny but regardless the experience well covers that. Professional exceptional service from real professionals, you know that can be hard to find especially in these modern times that’s why thankfully they cater with the beautiful old with the new. The room was more than comfortable, sea-view balcony. Worth it. Aren’t you? :) we all deserve to be pampered in trying times of life so the spa was also a beautiful welcome with a huge array of amenities all with wheelchair accessibility so that you can feel better too :) coast of Kent it’s a Royal gem for a reason! Thank you to all the wonderful team for making my stay a wonderful calm and rejuvenating one. Yes there’s a bar football too. In fact their old school hospitality is never truly out of fashion. :) beautiful sights lots to see. I recommend The Castle, if you’re into that. The choice is always ours haha.
Fantastic experience: Amazing
Negative experience: Mu daughter booked this through activity store it cost £100 and we was there for an hour treatment was cut short jacuzzi was shut steam room had no water to put on coals showers in changing room didn't work properly and when i complained i was made out to be lying had trouble getting though to book had to leave message when they did phone back they did not tell me to arrive early even though they said they did i have got all paper work and not once have i wrote down to arrive early so that was a lie just wanted to get out of refunding me I would not recommend this spa. it is not worth the value they lie to get out of trouble please find another spa that will treat you with respect
Negative experience: I don’t like the massage I received - the masseuse didn’t seem to like her job. First I was brought to a waiting room to sit for 10 mins, not sure why because she said she had a quiet day so I guess she could have prepared the room for me as I booked in advance. I booked a treatment for 30 minutes but it ended after 24 mins. I guess this is not the place for me…
Negative experience: Feel bad for my daughter today. She booked a spa day for mothers day today. We got up early to enjoy a 'spa' day today for Mother's Day at this place. Its not cheap, we were asked to pay extra for a towel and robe at the desk and told steam room light not working. The 'spa' is in the basement a rabbit warren of corridors with doors going off everywhere. Went in the sauna which was ok, empty bucket and ladle for pouring water on the stones. No probs, we went into the hall to the drinking fountain to fill the bucket o find drinking fountain not working... ok, we thought, lets try the steam room - not only was the light not working, the entire steam room not working either. Thought we would try the spa pool. Jeez, was like sitting in luke warm dirty bath water. No chlorine smell so I don't think it had any and as for the jets... a dog walking by you and passing wind would have had a stronger effect. Not happy and disturbed the pool had no chlorine (with covid about) we decided to leave. We had been their approx 35 minutes at this point... We went to the changing room to get a shower - only cold water! As it happens the woman from the desk walked in. I complained and she said - the steam room would be fixed at 'some point' today. I said we were not happy and she said she was sorry and would talk to us when changed at the desk. Went to the desk - no one at the desk... I feel like my daughter was totally ripped off. Every other place from here to Ashford is far better. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Positive experience: Had an amazing raindrop massage today, the lady that did it was friendly and professional. The massage itself was truly amazing and relaxing, just the right amount of pressure, will definitely return again soon, thank you so much. Only reason I gave 4 stars is that we wasn't offered robes to change into , although this maybe because the jacuzzi was out of action. We was made aware of this prior to our arrival and given complemetary vouchers to use the facilities another day which was a lovely gesture
Negative experience: Good points- Relation room was lovely and calming Showers were amazing Massage was great Blonde lady was lovely and helpful Sarah was so attentive and friendly Bad points- The jacuzzi was broken The steam room smelt and had a loud banging coming from pipes We were left wondering corridors not knowing what we were meant to do next as we were left to our own devices, bags includes. The worst? The small lady at the welcome desk down stairs was observed being incredably rude to both guests and staff. Customer service/ customer relations training is required immediately, if not a staff shake up as this woman alone gave such a low star review and will in time cost the business greatly I'm sure. She was awful!
Positive experience: The best thing about the spa was Tanya the therapist who is incredible. Her deep tissue massage is brilliant! However, 1/3 of the facilities were out of order and we were not informed. Secondly, we were called last minute on the day to change our massage times after ignoring emails requesting regarding booking times. I’d recommend coming for the massage (if you request Tanya) only.
Positive experience: Me and my partner came here for a half spa day. Massages were absolutely wonderful and we both felt very relaxed afterwards. The jacuzzi and sauna were also lovely, unfortunately the steam room wasn't open which was a bit of a shame. There also appeared to be a lack of staff as there were a lot of dirty towels laying around the spa area, also the staff available seemed a bit unapproachable and offhand when answering questions regarding where certain things were etc. But overall it was a positive experience and both me and my partner left feeling happy and revitalized.
Positive experience: Chlorine levels in jacuzzi sting eyes and burn the throat, unbearable No staff after 5pm so when the sauna times out you have to go up to the hotel reception in your spa wear Full body massage good but don’t bother with the raindrop, it sounds nice but the oil is cold and I had to ask the masseuse to stop dripping it on me as it felt horrible, there was no warm compress and the masseuse had no idea what I was talking about when I mentioned it. Just stick with a normal ‘drift away’ and you won’t be disappointed Head massage - lovely to have my hair played with for 30mins but an utterly half arsed head massage. I feel like it was an option because that’s what you put on treatment lists, rather than because anyone knows how to do it properly Very quiet (sun eve to wed) Great gym, lots of choice of equipment Reception staff lovely
Negative experience: I can't recommend this spa. Most of the issues were with the reception staff. Initially, they took my 50% of my money over the phone but failed to actually book me in so when I luckily called back to confirm something they had no record of my booking! They had to re-book me in earlier than I had originally booked which was a inconvenience. On arrival they took the remaining 50% (or so I thought) after checking later I realised they took too much, which I had to then complain about and get a manager to authorise refunding the different ?! (not actually received the refund yet so hopefully that arrives soon) The jacuzzi had way way too much chlorine in it. I heard various over guests complaining about this too. You couldn't stay in it very long at all as the chlorine fumes made everyone's eyes sore and red. I don't know if this was a tactic to keep people from staying too long? We had lunch downstairs next to the spa. This was a bad idea, as there was no one working down there other than the receptionist in another room. We waited 50 minutes for our 1st course (no one else in the lunch area downstairs and we ordered when they 1st opened at 12 so can't have been that busy). We then just sat there waiting for the 2nd course and eventually I went out to find the receptionist to ask them to bring the rest of our food. All in all, the 2 courses took close to 2 hours. One thing I must say was that the therapists were very good and the treatments were lovely.
Fantastic experience: We came for a spa afternoon for a friends birthday and had the best time. The staff were amazing the treatments and choices was very good and the food was lovely and very filling. We will be back soon would highly recommend!!
Fantastic experience: Had an lovely time a very relaxing massage will be returning x
