Fitness Gym @ Strathearn Community Campus: Opinions
Fantastic experience: £7 without a live active membership for pretty much as long as I wanted when it's not busy, brilliant! Changing Rooms, Lockers and a shower (although out of order during my visit but these things happen) It's 2 different rooms, I couldn't find one of them so asked the staff and they were more than happy to show me the way, so if one is busier than you would like, head to the other. Both rooms are small but there is as much packed into them as possible, a great selection of equipment for a council run gym in a small town. People should try looking at the positives instead of trying find anything to have a moan about.
Negative experience: Moved to the area and taken a monthly pass for two months to try it out before maybe joining. Been really disappointed. Cost is much higher than my previous council fitness membership and the facilities are far worse. Strength gym is v.small and dingy, if there are 3/4 people there it feels cramped. Benches are all v.cracked and only a random assortment of functional equipment (kettlebells, slam balls, carry bags). Decent range of dumbells though, couple racks and a cable machine with at least one cracked wheel. Fixed weight (and cardio) machines are in a different space which at times is used by school pupils, though that space is much brighter and nicer feeling. Seems to be a decent selection of things there but I find the two different rooms awkward. The changing rooms are v.dated, painted breeze block and wooden benches kinda situation. I've not used the pool or gone to classes so can't speak to them. I get it's a community campus but I find going through the school to get to/from the gym uncomfortable. I'm not a fan of passing through corridors of teenagers when I'm sweaty and tired but probably could be avoided by finding out when break/lunch/period changes are. Unfortunately there don't seem to be many options in the area but I'm actively looking to join somewhere else.
Negative experience: is ok but after paying 37 pounds for unlimited hours in the gym the fitness room is used by children monday to friday until 10:30 , swimming pool as well for toddlers . 2 machines are broken in the fitness room , no towels for the gym or swimming pool .asian girl in reception is complete lost First day I ask for towels she said we don't have then in the wall behind her was towel to buy . se put other item in the computer whit same price because she can't find the towel in the system. fitness room and strength room have time limit when is busy. only one option for food whit no daily the rest have daily. weekend no food at all. I saw teachers talking sandwiches for the counter like who cares. I give this place value of 15 pounds for one month not 37.
Positive experience: I would love if they open earlier so I could workout before work. As a full time worker and mum, it would suit me better but unfortunately 7am is not early enough for me as I start work at 8am
