CrossFit^® Emsworth

Fantastic experience: I have been going to CrossFit for 8years now and I can say that the atmosphere in CrossFit emsworth is great. It’s calm and relaxing yet loud and encouraging when the workouts take place. I can highly recommend giving CrossFit ems a go and expiring it for yourself, everyone in the gym there is friendly and welcoming which really makes you feel part of a gym family.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic new gym and equipment, professional coaches, top programming and results. Don’t be fooled by the campaign of bad reviews- if you want wins for your fitness and meet an encouraging, welcoming membership - come down, best gym in the area.

Negative experience: Started off well: a gym close to home, with a great crew and a fantastic coach in the form of Macca, although there weren't many classes on offer. Went rapidly downhill when coach Macca disappeared with only a tone-deaf management non-explanation and egregious treatment of customers, resulting in exodus to nearby gyms Bosham and Iron Duke. In a rare moment of proactivity, my membership was cancelled before my subscription actually expired, meaning I was denied my final workout at CFE. Other dubious business practices included selling vouchers that were impractical to redeem, opaque pricing, cancellation of classes and prioritisation of Chichester over its poor Emsworth sibling. It's a well-equipped gym in a good location, it just needs a level of permanence in coaches, and new management.

Negative experience: How not to manage a gym! I dont want to go into to much detail about particulars as i think most of recent reviews have captured the underlying problems with this gym. What i did want to highlight is the community aspect of crossfit. Crossfit is not like other commercial gyms and the members and coaches see it as more than just a space to train. Its a community and this is the main reason people turn up day in day out. A strong bond and friendships had been created at this gym and management have done a good job at destroy this in about a month. Firing 2/3 coaches for the gym for no real reason (including the head coach), shows a huge ignorance on there behalf. The Cunninghams might have funded the opening of the gym, but Macca was crossfit Emsworth! Macca really cared for every member at that gym and the fitness journeys they were on. I dont believe Macca will have asked anyone to leave and if anything im sure he would wanted people to stay in pursuit of there fitness goals. But alas, a mash exodus has ensued. The loyalty of members and the dislike to managements decisions will see about 1/3 of members already left or leaving to go to other gyms. The bureaucratic nature of management has seen them successfully ruin what was a good gym. The fact that they open/closed and even deleted comments made by members, in the gym whatsapp group to try and control the comments was quite frankly a last straw for alot of members. I have done crossfit for 8 years and been to a good selection of crossfit gyms in my time. None have come anywhere close to how how badly this place is run. If you are a prospective member or coach looking to join here or Crossfit chcichester, then i ask you to make contact with other reviewers for their opinion before joining. Negative experience: Originally an excellent Gym. Great facilities for a small startup. Building into a great facility with continuing investment every few months (new kit, better facilities) However the owner(s) has changed the coaches and seems to be focusing more on money than training pushing packages and deals far overpriced with confusing pricing options

Negative experience: I am really sad about the direction this gym is going in. I’ve been with these owners for three years, first at CrossFit Chichester then at Emsworth when it opened. Emsworth was a great place to train, I loved it. However, over the past few months it has become clear that the owners are no longer focused on good quality safe coaching, rather money. There is no feeling of community, and no respect for the coaches or members. It feels as though the owners do not want members at all. I would recommend looking at the other gyms in the local area that better represent the CrossFit name.

Negative experience: This gym used to be great, however when the owners fired their two best coaches under very unprofessional circumstances (within two months of each other) it tore the gym and community apart. I joined Emsworth Crossfit to continue a positive fitness journey for both my physical and mental health. The coaching both Macca and Dave provided was incredible, putting members first and encouraging you to thrive. The community was next level, everyone was very welcoming and overtime we created an amazing CrossFit Family. However when the thoughtless decision was made to get rid of two said coaches, this tore our community apart, forcing us to find other gyms. On both occasions, the coach was simply removed from the Whatsapp group and members left asking what was going on. Most recently member comments were removed and the group closed to comments, now if this doesn’t stink of a guilty conscience I don’t know what does. Members have approached the owners for answers and to try and understand their decision but we simply get shut down and given a blanket answer of “oh I’m sorry, um, it was a difficult decision”. If there is a legitimate reason, then share it or explain why you can’t? When I offered feedback I simply received a “understood”. I think I speak for many that I don’t wish to support such behaviour and disrespect to those that were successfully running your gyms. Crossfit deserves a better reputation than this place, I suggest trying Bosham Crossfit or Iron Duke. I hope my review doesn’t get covered up by “positive” reviews which members have previously been incentivised to write.
