Fantastic experience: Joined the gym on Green Park recently and I have really enjoyed the experience so far. I mainly signed up for the classes and the swimming pool both of which have been great. All the trainers that I have had classes with so far have been brilliant and I had the best circuit class yet today with Marek!
Fantastic experience: I came in on Sunday morning for your Open weekend, the staff were very welcoming and friendly and there was such a good vibe about the place. Swimming pool area is very impressive, clean and bright with perfect temperature in the pool. Very enjoyable visit.
Negative experience: Really impolite staff, lacking basic equipments like resistance bands, there are quite a few low quality bands which are in the class area. Very small gym, doesn’t have an area where people can use dumbbells or kettle bell dumbbells or do basic stretching before using the equipments. Equipment and machines are way old and doesn’t properly adjust weight. Two stars for the cleanliness. This gym is really taking Nuffield name down, as I have been in Farnborough Nuffield for almost 2 years and that was exceptional.
Negative experience: A very “Meh” gym, it was a good option a few years ago but newer gyms in the areas have overtaken massively for the price point. The equipment is from the 90’s and there is always issues (broken machines, no hot water, most the lockers are broken etc). Seem to put prices up then take services away also which they cited “the environment” for when asked. I would probably hunt around as there are much better for the same or less
Positive experience: Decent gym, however not so big and few little issues with machines that don’t seem to get fixed, but mostly all in good shape/condition. Pool, sauna & steam room always clean and working. Although must be said the manager is miserable.. been a member for well over 6 months and have bought my brother along for a ‘free trial’ (give them your id and can come in free with member ONCE). Brother signed up after and was happy. Had a friend who lived local and was thinking of joining, called ahead to double check it would be ok to come down for the day and try it out for free, was told yes no problem just bring ID. I was then met at the front desk by the manger who said they don’t do free trials through members, to which I asked if that had changed recently (to which he responded no and has always been like that) and that I’d also just called in an hour ago to check this was ok. He doubled down and said they’ve never done this. Truly the most difficult bloke in the world who I’ve NEVER seen smile and always looks like it’s a chore being there for him. He’d basically lied to get my friend to sign up (either that or his staff lied about getting in for free once.. which I doubt) and as you can imagine he was put off instantly. Never seen or met a bloke that wakes up the wrong side of the bed every day.
Negative experience: **Don’t waste your time!** The customer service is non-existent, and it’s incredibly difficult to freeze your membership. The gym is not large enough for the price they charge, and it lacks a lot of essential equipment. They're quick to take money from your account, but cancelling or freezing your contract is almost impossible. This has been the worst customer service experience I’ve had in the UK in over 10 years of living here. I would much rather pay for PureGym, it's basic but has good equipment, and their membership is much more flexible when it comes to cancellations or freezing. Who in 2024 still sends postal mail to communicate important matters? According to them, they sent me a notice for payment, but I’ve never received any emails, texts, or calls. After over 5 years of paying my membership, I cancelled my direct debit. I fulfilled my original 1-year contract and did not end it early and not I still need to give them one calendar month to be able to cancel , I am not going to their installations since May. Yet they continue to chase me for payments. It’s nothing short of theft
Fantastic experience: I joined Nuffield Health Gym in Reading mainly for the pool as it’s local and offer good membership rates. I could not have made a better choice. The pool is the best one I’ve swim in locally for cleanliness and consistency of temperature - never too cold or hot: the Goldilocks of pools! The showers are hot and clean and the changing room is lovely - there is a costume spinner, hair dryers and even straighteners - you don’t even get that at Nirvana! There is a wide range of classes and this is the first place I have found really good swim training sessions for adults (Bryan runs them and they are intense and brilliant). I now also use the gym and have buddy PT training sessions (me and my mate with Bryan the PT). The gym is very well equipped and there is a wide range of ages which, as a woman of a certain age, I find very nice. The staff are helpful and friendly and the cafe does a great post-swim cappuccino. Exceptional value for an exceptional centre. Thank you.
Negative experience: The worst customer service I ever seen... After 4 years being member of this club, I wanted to cancel my membership due to some personal commitments. First I have written an email to their manager Traver, of course no answer. Then I popped in to ask to cancel the membership, Trevor personally said that I have to write an email to Reading Management team, I have written an email to them, also no answer, then another one, no answer... It seems like nobody cares ... never go for this gym.
Negative experience: Very disappointing experience. When I joined my own branch, I had checked if the reading branch was included in my membership. But when I arrived I was informed that the reading club had now been upgraded to a tier 1 gym and so it wasn't included so I should pay an extra charge of £7.50 to use the gym for the day (she said she would let me off this time but I would have to pay in future). I went to shower before using the sauna and realised I'd forgotten my towel, went back to the locker to get it and the locker wouldn't open. I had to go out to get help and the first woman asked if I was sure I was trying to open the right locker (the keys and lockers have numbers, so the assumption I was stupid wasn't appreciated). She couldn't open it so went to get help and a second woman managed to get it open and told me that you have to lean on the door (as though I should somehow know the trick to overcome their dodgy lockers). I mainly went to use the sauna, but was very disappointed. It was absolutely tiny and was not even warm. I couldn't tell the temperature as the thermostat/thermometer had been ripped off the wall. There was also no timer in there. The door had clearly been broken and had been messily pasted back together with white bathroom sealant on the brown door. The swimsuit spinner was broken too. All in all I have no idea why this club has been upgraded to a tier 1 but it is in desperate need of basic maintenance and some staff training to even be acceptable as a basic gym.

Positive experience: Ive been a member of Nuffield Gym for quite some time now, and one of the main reasons I’ve stayed is because of Debbie. From the moment I joined, Debbie has always made me feel incredibly welcome. Her warmth and genuine kindness are unmatched Debbie consistently goes above and beyond for everyone at the gym, whether it's offering a friendly greeting, helping with any questions, or just making sure everyone feels at home. It’s clear that she truly cares about the members, and her positive energy creates such a welcoming atmosphere. Nuffield Gym is dated and old, but Debbie is what makes it feel like a community. I can’t thank her enough for all that she does!
Negative experience: Old rusty equipment, the sly management convinced me to stay for another 6 months last year instead of cancelling to wait for the "upgrades" to their equipment which was a utter lie, as it's been 18 months from that date and 0 equipment upgrades. The facilities are dirty and the gym is ridiculously priced for their offering 1/5 value for money, 1/5 for equipment standards, 2/5 hygiene. What's worse is management is deceptive and trying to exit a contract is disgustingly hard (you need it in writing), they probably do this intentionally to lock people into their terrible gym contract. Why would anyone go here when there are now so many alternatives popping up all over Reading. Please give you money to companies that actually reinvest into the facilities.
Negative experience: Edited to add: review reduced to one star review due to Nuffield messing up when I left, this led to them sending my account to debt collection incorrectly. What a shame their poor administration soured my otherwise excellent experience. Original review: Great gym, spacious with very good facilities. As a qualified PT (not working as a PT though, and not working at Nuffield, so no vested interest), I really appreciate some of the kit they have here. Not many gyms have a proper Power Plate, and also the Watt bikes are really useful. Generally, lots of space, useful machines, and plenty of free weights and functional space. Whilst I don't swim, the pool seems great, and I love the Sauna and steam room. Maintaining a 'wet' facility is massively expensive, hence why the former public facilities are so run down. I think Nuffield offers great value for money, offering a lot of high end facilities. David Lloyd are further upmarket, but you pay a lot more. For me Nuffield hits the sweet spot. I also have to say, the staff at Nuffield are great. PT's not pushy, but very high quality, well trained. Reception staff are friendly and helpful.
Positive experience: The pool was fabulous and lovely clean changing rooms and great showers. Really nice coffee area. The female receptionist and younger guy was very helpful and pleasant. Not particularly impressed the older man on reception. I found his manner curt and unfriendly. He was the first person I encountered and if it hadn’t been for the lovely female receptionist I would have walked away. ‘Manners maketh man’ Mr-very-unfriendly.!!!
Positive experience: Physio good but very short times. Customer service non-existant. 2 emails ignored, 2 phone calls left to disconnect as they did not answer in time. Very frustrating.
Positive experience: This Health and Wellbeing Center really hits the spot the Gym has everything you need Machines to Free Weights you can train at your own pace The staff are very jolly and helpful plus they have classes if you wish to go a step further I like to also do a couple of laps in the pool followed by a Sauna sesh after a good workout and this is the place for me Top Place and Top People
Fantastic experience: Quite a good gym, I love the classes they offer - great instructors.
Positive experience: Not a bad gym and some of the staff are really nice and helpful, however, some of the kit is dated and poorly maintained, some of the staff are rude and ignorant and the showers in the mens changing room have been out of action for months!
Positive experience: Generally a good club, a nice pool but too many pool lessons and aqua classes have been added recently making it very hard to find times to do lane swimming, especially in the mornings or afternoons. Plus they have stopped giving out towels, although not a deal breaker it was a nice touch and set them apart from other clubs. Its a 38 mile return drive to this club and because of the above I'm looking at other options.
Negative experience: Facilities are poor compared to competitors and even other Nuffield Health gyms. Equipment not well maintained. From 1st April no longer providing towels to members. Disappointing from a "Premium" gym
Fantastic experience: Good facilities and great staff. Can get quite crowded at peak times.
Negative experience: I take my children swimming once a week, and it takes me 20 minutes to connect to their Wi-Fi, I have to go through their sign-in form. It’s a useless system. Please consider addressing this problem.
Positive experience: I’ve been using this Nuffield Gym for over 12 months now, and have to say, I’ve had minimal problems. The gym is tidy and clean and has ample equipment for a good workout. The pool, sauna and steam room are brill and have more than sufficient opening times. The only downside is the equipment and gym as a whole requires an upgrade to be line with the Nuffield Newbury set-up. We pay the same membership but have a much lesser offer in terms of resources. When I first joined I was told the refresh would be happening by Summer 23. It’s now Jan 24 and there appears to be no signs on change. An update from management would be ideal.
Negative experience: Very Expensive for the quality of service and for what the gym offers, poor classes (only one evening Yoga class per week and only one good instructor for spinning classes, the rest of the instructors seem to be making you a favour only by showing up!). I and my husband recently joined and we feel we had better work out classes while at home during the pandemic! Coming for Virgin Active where I was a member for many years I thought this was the closest to it in this area but I was very wrong, the only good thing about this gym is the parking space and one instructor! The rest could be upgraded including the instructors! The showers are so old and the lockers still have a key you need to carry with you in the gym and leave the membership card inside (which gets forgotten when you leave)! Member of staff friendly at times but overall they could make a better effort! I am definitely considering ending my membership as this gym is definitely not making my money worth! The gym equipment is so old and mostly rusty, probably 15 years+. The changing room are also so so old with lockers that lock with membership card and a key...they are notmaintained at all with dirty toilets.
Negative experience: The swim instructors are so good and friendly, so they get a Five star ⭐️ Giving a 2 star for the Center as the swimming pool is always so cold, makes you feel sick!
Negative experience: Shame there is no option to score zero, this gym is a joke (assome other reviewers already said). Staff members not willing to help and leave the reception unattended most of the time! Complains about old rusty equipments are, spinning bikes not working, classes with no music as stereo breaks as often as it rains are a waist of time! Members are paying a gym membership and in return money should get invested to refurbish the gym and at least have some modern equipments and spinning bikes working! It is a total rip off! Saturday 7th October attended a spinning class and I was lucky to get a functional spinning bike (80% of them are broken) and 5 minutes into the session the stereo decided to stop working resulting in a remaining 40 minutes spinning session with no music! Absolutly absurd! I went to complain in the middle of the class and guess what? No one came to check, member of staff seated in the sofas having a coffeeand completely ignore me! The worst gym I ever paid a membership for in my entire life! Unless you are desperate and have no choice PLEASE AVOID JOYING this gym and PAYING for it as nothing gets fixed EVER!!
Negative experience: My first visit to this establishment left me very disappointed. The staff members customer service that I encountered was non existent. I was basically pointed to the direction of the facilities. On reiterating that I had not been or used the equipment before, I was informed to read the instructions!! On reaching the top of the stairs to the gym I was left to it. I noticed some out of order signs on some of the equipment. To play it safe & not cause myself unnecessary injury. I used the treadmill & cross trainer, a very boring workout was had

Positive experience: A good gym with a swimming pool and sauna. There have been issues with the swimming pool not being maintained to a good standard in the recent months however, that seems to have been resolved.

Negative experience: Without any notice to members they decided not to open or close like at 5PM today - bank holiday Monday. This place is becoming a bad joke, staff more and more unpleasant and cant even get the service I paid for. I will be cancelling my direct debit today!

Negative experience: Pool constantly cold and not nice to swim in - the heating element keeps on breaking down. Lockers / most don’t work. The security gate doesn’t always work. New Womens showers are nice.

Negative experience: Average gym at best. Equipment is average; 4-5 cardio machines always out of action, today I counted 7 in total… they have 4 tv’s in the main gym, only 2 are ever on, they advertise tv and entertainment through the cardio machines, it never works! Staff are ok but doesn’t have the most welcoming feel… There is only one full set of weights for the whole gym… oh and even the main gym clock had stopped! Surely it’s just the basic things?!

Fantastic experience: I was hesitant to visit this fitness center due to the negative reviews I had seen online, but I'm glad I gave it a chance. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and I never encountered a single rude member of staff. The equipment was clean and in good working condition, and the changing rooms were also kept clean. I was surprised to read reviews complaining of dirt, as every time I visited there were at least two cleaners walking around. The group lessons were led by passionate and knowledgeable staff, and there was always at least one member of staff available to give advice and guidance in the gym. Additionally, I received a free training schedule after consulting with an instructor. Overall, I had a great experience at this fitness center and would recommend it to others

Fantastic experience: This my favourite go to gym in Reading. The facilities are clean and well maintained. The steam room and sauna are always a good way to chill after a hard workout session with Marek Kaczmarczyk who is a professional PT from who you can expect progress via a personalised workout plan along 1-1 sessions to have a clear understanding on what area each exercise is targeting. The staff at reception are also great and always smiling. The gym can be quite busy during peak hours but there’s enough space for everyone to get on with their workout and a dedicated PT is always the way if you’re looking to achieve long term results.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member at Nuffield Reading for many years and am generally happy with the facilities and equipment in there. However, I rarely use the swimming pool (which, as other people have commented, is rather too small) and tend to shower at home. I have hardly been using the gym equipment in recent years, but only done classes (body pump being a favourite). Late last year I felt I was not pushing myself enough and decided to book some Personal Training back in November '22. I have had a few sessions with Marek Kaczmarczyk since and have found them to be very beneficial. He has a vast knowledge on anything ranging from correct exercise execution for maximum personal benefit, injury prevention, nutrition to supplementation. It helps that he is a very likeable, extremely positive and approachable person, who it is fun to work out with. I am going to continue after the initial 3 months I paid for, as working out with Marek has given me a new lift and desire to get fitter and healthier this year. I know he can take me there!

Positive experience: I signed up recently to address my poor fitness and overall wellness. Found the gym and pool to be in good condition/availability considering the price range for membership but what has really impressed me is the people that work there. From front desk to membership to coffee shop to gym to members, everyone is so friendly! I want to put a specific shout out to my new personal trainer and employee of the month Marek. Dedicated, professional, driven, passionate about what he does. Fantastic experience: Marek understood my personal circumstances and designed my plan to cater for it. My goal was to gain muscle and gain weight. marek has not only catered our sessions to suit my goal but also checks up to see I am on plan with my meals. Since training with Marek I have put on weight and am able to push myself to lift heavier. He is also very good at incorporating feedback and my overall goals into my plan. Highly recommended - tremendous amount of value for the service he provides

Fantastic experience: I am a super fan, I think the staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful - always a smile and greeting. The gym has everything I need, classes seem good ( I’ve never attended) pool looks inviting (again never used it myself) and locker room is always clean! I have the best personal trainer Marek, who has got me addicted to training and eating clean! Not only has he helped me feel more confident with the equipment, and weight training (which I was completely new to), he understands my needs and tailored a training & diet plan to hit my goals.

Positive experience: Very friendly staff, good equipment and new showers just fitted. I have PT sessions with Marek, he's awesome. Very positive, encouraging and knowledgeable. I couldn't recommend him enough to anyone of any level of fitness with any goal in mind.

Fantastic experience: No idea why ratings are so low. Staff are so friendly and helpful. My PT Harry is amazing. I never intended on doing so many sessions initially but he makes the gym so fun, I've seen a huge difference mentally and physically in myself. He provides me with advice in and out of the sessions. Fantastic experience: I dont know how this place is getting such bad ratings. I've been to I think 3 or 4 different gyms and this is by far the best gym I've been to. The lockers are great, the swimming pool is lovely and warm, everyone is so lovely - including staff. They have 24/7 cleaners in the changing rooms so it never gets dirty. The showers are 10/10. The gym equipment is super clean, they also provide you with cleaners WHICH YOU CAN USE AT YOUR OWN ACCORD - so all these reviews saying "its dirty" well, its not, and even if it was you have the option to clean it - the bad reviews are obviously competing gyms as they aren't accurate at all to what the gym is like. I have to say, the only flaw I can pick out is that its not a 24/7 gym. The membership is fairly priced, when you first join you have a free session with a Personal trainer, and you get access to all classes, and pool, steam room, sauna etc. Honestly whats not to love.

Negative experience: This is the worst gym and staff I have ever seen in my entire life. I wish I listened to the other customers reviews before deciding to visit this gym. I cancelled my membership in few days from signing up. Here is my experience at this appalling gym: Gym Workers quality and behavior: very low quality personality, extremely rude, unprofessional, no communication skills, no customer service facing skills. A guy called andrew pond and a girl called vanessa are the rudest and the most unprofessional workers I have ever seen throughout my entire life in 12 countries that I have lived in. They shout at customers and call them names!!! Gym facilities: very old rusty equipments, very small and limited equipment, bad odor, smelly facility, filthy swimming pool, toilets, etc. The lockers are obsolete and very old, who on earth still is using keys to lock lockers!!!

Negative experience: Yesterday and around 1550 Local Time I have attended a tour to better understand the place and options. Unfortunately, the gentleman accompanying us was not friendly and he was in a deterring position. His words were not appropriate. Although I liked the place when I was searching for it, I decided not to become a member due to the team member's behaviour. You can easily find who the person and warn him accordingly. The center has a very low chance ot acquiring new customers with that personnel I am afraid.

Negative experience: Extremely over priced, gym is in dire need of a complete refurb as the equipment is about 15 years old, takes them months to fix the machines when they break.
Positive experience: Staff are polite, facilities are clean and tidy. Gym equipment is very old but works and is well maintained (hence only 4 stars).
Positive experience: Nice gym , excellent parking, no riff raff or chavs, good equipment, however gym could be hoovered more frequently, quite a bit of hair on the gym floor. Steam and sauna rooms worth their weight in gold, gym classes are excellent too.
Negative experience: Small gym, old, leaky equipment, lack of floor space. A/C doesn't work on hot days. Very limited locker space and the front of office staff are always too busy. Very expensive for what it is worth...

Positive experience: Nice gym, always clean, staff very friendly. I only visit when it's an open day or when my partner has a free pass from her membership. Communication sometimes isn't great between the social media team and the front desk as often they'd advertise something on Facebook but the front desk aren't aware of it. The steam room is often out of action.
Positive experience: Pretty good fitness centre, spacious gym with plenty of modern equipmnet, medium size swimming pool, clean place, some usage restriction due to Covid19, managed well, friendly staff, not very busy overall, but I guess it's due to membership price ~£60, personally think it's worth ~£35, do like the place, but won't be coming back after my current discount runs out, just to much for my pocket.
Fantastic experience: I find this club run in a friendly, professional and welcoming manner. The recent logistical problems brought about by coping with Covid-19 have largely been solved without any reduction in the pleasure and health benefits received.

Negative experience: Its ok nothing special the worst part is the mens showers always water problem apart from that there should be no curtains there should be doors as curtains get dirty too quick and not good for hygiene i will be quitting this gym soon unless its sorted
Negative experience: The pool is often so hot that you can't swim seriously. Lots of broken lockers that never get fixed. Maintenance is not good. Most of the staff are friendly but the Newbury gym is much better maintained.
Positive experience: I went here after being referred by my GP for back aches. The lovely physiotherapist gentleman fixed my back after years of pain. I haven't been feeling any discomfort since. On top of going through exercises and stretches during the session, he also gave me a list of simple exercises with explanations and illustrations which I appreciate a lot with my memory! Thanks again, I will most definitely return if I find any troubles.

Negative experience: In these photos it looks so clean. In life...it is really dusty there. Quite dirty place. Always something is broken or not working there. Price is way too high for what it offers!
Fantastic experience: Got a free trail pass. Really pleased with the gym. Plenty of free parking in multi storey carpark, sauna, pool, well equipped gym, friendly staff, got a towel as well. Enjoyed it.
Negative experience: Nuffield Reading is about the worst run establishment I have come across. In fact, the local Council run pools are stellar by comparison. Problems I faced repeatedly, which didn't get fixed, include: - Frequently there were no carry bags to take wet clothes home in and the swimsuit drier was broken - Quiet a few of the lockers are broken - Interiors smelt badly at times - Weighing scale was and still is broken - General upkeep and maintenance is poor, with problems such as crumbling plaster in places. The establishment needs a good infusion of funds. Had it not been lucky enough to benefit from the Green Park location premium, and thus a captive audience, the center would be struggling. In summary, find another facility unless you don't have an option.
Negative experience: Really dissapointing. Viited the Nuffield in Guildford and was pleasently surprsied, lovely equitment, great space and general feel about the gym. Thought I'd try out the Reading one, and was absolutely shocked at how bad it was compared to Guildford. Equiptment was old, worn and rusted. Poor selection of weights and machines and in general the condition of the gym was shocking. If it was the same as their Guildford branch, then i would have signed up there and then, but it's not, and certainly no where near the quality you'd expect for the price tag.
Negative experience: The most expensive in reading area and the worst gym. it's a chain GYM in some other UK places , extremely old equipment and sometimes broken , very small area and NO air con and bad smeXXX
Negative experience: The mose expensive and somehow also by far the worst gym I have ever been to. Tiny area, old equipment and staggeringly NO air con. I've been to budget gyms that are better, and they have aircon. They will also tie you into a needless contract, stay well away.
Positive experience: Should have a well working AC, other than this, it is okay.
Positive experience: So far, so good. I've been a member for around 1 month. Fortunately the times I tend to go to the gym (7pm during the week and 5pm at weekends) seem to be relatively quiet in terms of usage. Shower and changing areas are clean and have sufficient space, though a number of the lockers are non-functional, and the keys don't all have pins to attach them to your clothing - particularly tricky when going for a swim. The gym equipment is on the whole fine, although the lack of functioning air conditioning, like the lack of functioning lockers, pulls the overall rating down! More expensive than my previous gym, but the pool and better gym equipment makes up for that.
Negative experience: Air conditioning barely works and it's uncomfortably hot to workout in. Equipment is antiquated and often broken and the pool facilities are always somehow closed? If it cost the same as any other budget gym then this wouldn't be a problem but extremely unimpressed with value for money considering the pricey membership cost. Disappointing from Nuffield.

Negative experience: I’ve only recently joined this gym - and not through choice, work pays for my membership. Personally I find some of the staff very friendly and others not friendly at all. The gym equipment itself is pretty old, I’d guess 10 years+. It could do with a complete redesign and all new equipment. The changing room is poorly designed and not maintained at all. A lot of lockers either don’t work or don’t have doors on them. Please read and react Nuffield

Negative experience: There are lots of choices in Reading when it comes to going to the gym. My previous gym had new equipment and was open 24/7 but had not classes for £15.99 per month. I wanted to upgrade not just my gym but my experience. Having previously been a member of Virgin Active I thought that Nuffield would be similar. For 3 times the price of my previous gym (almost) I expect a LOT more, like the difference between a Premier Inn and a Ritz Carlton. The welcome into the gym is a bit of a hassle, there is a turnstile that requires a barcoded card that never scans the first time. The staff never remember your name or say good morning, I guess they don't have a screen where the guest name appears but after 6 months going everyday.....when they see the scanner doesn't work they don't buzz you in, they let you keep on trying. As you enter the towels are now on the desk in small amounts as though they want you to take just one. This is my biggest piss off factor. Sometimes the manager is at a desk and looks like he is checking how many towels are being taken. The gym is OK, machines are not the latest - not as modern as the £15.99 The Gym, but OK. The spin class is really very good - I love it. The showers have very cheap looking shower curtains that are almost see-through. Not very 5 star. The pool is lovely - BUT - I would love to be able to enjoy a relaxing swim at the weekend, unfortunately they let loads of kids in so I steer clear. There is no Jacuzzi which is a real shame. So all in all if The Gym is £15.99. I would say this place is worth about £29.99 given the lack of warm service, 'towel police' quality of equipment, and the jacuzzi. I can only hope that Virgin open up one of their amazing gyms. I would happily pay a bit more for the friendly service, recognition, jacuzzi and pleasant atmosphere.

Negative experience: I have been a member for over a decade and watched this gyms gradual decline over the years.. Now, in 2019 its a pretty wretched place. The gym area itself is abysmal when compared to gyms that charge less than 1/4 the monthly cost. The staff are either rude or unresponsive.. I sent an Email to the center manager complaining about the staff and private class scheduling. I gave up waiting for a reply.. The changing rooms are beyond disgusting, some of the lockers dont even have doors. The showers are festered with mould, broken soap dispensers and are generally filthy, the steam room is broken 50% of the time, the towel service often runs out thanks to the laundry service failing to deliver and rather than keeping a rolling stock they just shrug and say "theres nothing we can do". The cafe area never staffed, so dont expect refreshments without waving down the reception staff. The water fountains are room temperature, if you are lucky enough to find one that works.. The only reason I remain a member is because of the excellent Spin classes and passable swimming pool, but this wont last long.
Negative experience: Gym facilities are great. However very impoilte reception staff. Not the usual friendly, caring nuffield health culture. I've been to several around the uk, this is my worse experience.
Negative experience: Well my experience with this gym has been the worse. A while ago I've tried to use a promo that O2 priority had that was 7 days free. Called them and all I got was someone saying that the manager was not there but he would call me... And no one ever called me. Today went there and to ask prices, again I had to wait for the manager and I was asked to fill a form with my data that, I queried why did they needed it and the only answer (that tbh was bs) was because Health and Safety.. When queried about what h&s when I was going just to ask for prices, I was brushed off and again no answers given regarding the prices. So... Stay away from this gym they don't want your money.
Negative experience: Ridiculously expensive as compared to other gyms around the area. Gyms like Puregym and The Gym are only £15.99 per month and are open 24 hours. And the equipment is just as good if not better. Overall I was disappointed with how expensive this place is!
Positive experience: Normally I am using a different location Nuffield (Newbury), but I gave a try for this one. For first, it was’nt easy to find it even with satnav. The parking was a bit confusing but never mind. The changing room is normal as usual, the shower a bit vintage with the plastic curtains. The exercise area is a bit small and a bit overcrowded with equipments. A bit of refurbishing/redecorating would help the place. But most inportantly it is really dark, and the flashing lightbulb made it even wors. The good point is the classes. I attended on 2 classes during the day, and really enjoyed them even though the studio is fairly small compare together with other Nuffields. Overall it is not a bad gym but far from a premium one
Positive experience: Only used the pool. Only has two private changing rooms with curtains, and the showers seemed a little dirty. This pool does not have spa or bubble pools, and is often unattended with no lifeguard, but does have an area where someone can sit and watch. Not ideal for those who need supervision but better than Wokingham...
Positive experience: Good for people who train after 7:30pm. Between 6 - 7pm is extremely busy. Great pool and friendly staff. Steam room has been out of order for 3 weeks already though and they've now put a sign up saying another 2-4 weeks before any work is done to it. considering the membership is expensive you would expect them to have all facilities working and not take 5 weeks to fix something.
Negative experience: Not the cleanest and always seems to have issues with the basics like no hot water for showers and no towels! There are much better gyms out there.
Negative experience: I’ve just joined with my husband at this gym. The first impression was the sales guy just wanted to sell it out fast and he didn’t tell the truth about how busy the swimming pool was in the morning(main reason why we joined). We didn’t receive any welcome email explaining how to join online but they were pretty fast to charge us the membership! The towels are very small and the ID pass already doesn’t work, I asked at the desk and they said they have to take a photo but never did because it was not working but neither they resolved the issue with the card. Overall: disappointment and overpriced even with a corporate discount! I don’t think we are going to keep going after the trial period. By the way: the swimming pool is enough small so don’t leave half of it for “no swimmers” in the mornings.

Negative experience: This gym is some what of a contradiction surprisingly all facilities are 5 star location Green park excellent cardio equipment good selection of resistance and weights equipment lovely pool sauna facilities But dreadful shower facilities with no doors just odd worn out plastic curtain reminiscent of sport centres in the 70s As showers are all part of health club experience until they have proper cubicles with doors it will always be a 1 star gym

Positive experience: I've been a member coming up on 9 months, my partner has been a member for longer. Overall I've been very pleased. The changing facilities are large enough, showers are good and facilities as you would expect. The pool is a little bit small, an improvement would be to make the lanes slightly wider and reduce the non lane-swimming area. The gym equipment is good, I can't fault the cardio kit, the multi gym and cross fit style stuff is good, however the weights area is a little small. There is one platform for free bar stuff, and about four squat racks/smith machines, which is a bit annoying when you want to do something other than squats or bench press! And an incline bench for sit ups but nothing for back extensions, which is a bit weird. A limitation of the size of the building I suppose. Common sense prevails with times to go, avoid 1730 weekdays, or afternoons at the weekend, as the free weights areas and pool are rammed. Any other time I can usually get to whatever kit I want, the staff are friendly and the few classes I've done have been good. Maybe offer some kind of points based discount system? IE the more times you go to the gym, the more discount you get on food and drink at the café? I might be more inclined to buy something then. All in all a decent gym, if you're south of reading it's fine as you don't touch the centre, and it's got most bits you'll need.

Positive experience: 2 expensive, no jacuzzi, (there is a place for jacuzzi just next to the pool) no equipment to train ABS or stomach muscles.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym/equipment and rarely gets overly busy. Spa facilities aren't so great; sauna is essentially a slightly warm room and no jacuzzi, but if you're looking for a quality gym with well organised classes then this is the gym to join.
