Negative experience: Filthy changing rooms and showers stink. Pool and gym feel grimey. Decent amount of kit in the gym but always overcrowded and loads of machines broken.
Negative experience: I've been a member for a couple of years and I simply echo the rest of the reviews Equipment regularly broken, 3 out 5 bikes, numerous treadmills, jacuzzi out for months at a time, broken cable machines and even the entry gate in reception. It's way oversubscribed and needs a huge investment and update. Staff rude and sit about chatting all day, zero interaction or interest in customers. Put it this way, if a new gym opened next door. This place would close in a year. Check out the reviews and make your own mind up.
Negative experience: Equipment is starting to become dated and is broken frequently. Pool and spa regularly closed. Changing rooms run down. The increase in price does not seem justified for a gym which hasn’t seen any improvements in the 5/6 years I have been attending. I’m not saying it’s a bad gym because if you can get a workout in (avoiding peak times 4pm-8pm and the equipment is working) it’s a decent gym.
Positive experience: I'm a member and mainly use the gym. Over the last month or so, the amount of equipment out of order has been generally increasing. A quick count of the treadmills out of order today suggested some 50% not available. A few weight machines are also out of order. I'm not one of those eternal complainants but with the recent membership fee increase something has to be said. The art of gym equpment management should be based on preventative maintenance and not waiting until the kit breaks down. I've been a member for 21 years, regularly attend but haven't seen evidence of a preventative maintenance programme being in place for years. Good staff, poor management.
Negative experience: Great gym let down by poor state of changing rooms. Spa facilities poor - jacuzzi has been out of service with various faults over the past month. Sauna is never up to temperature. Too much swimming pool time given over to swim-school - for much of the afternoon and evening there is only one single lane available for general swimming.
Negative experience: If you have complaints don’t bother to tell management as they won’t fix them. They just tell you to cancel your membership.
Negative experience: Very disappointed with the staff they are very rude, In the swimming pool Its very loud specially when there is a karaoke dance in the water I asked them numerous time to turn the volume down But No one listened hence everybody saying the same thing about them being rude .avoid this gym
Positive experience: I've been a regular member at Nuffield, largely because of the crèche service, which makes it easier for me to balance fitness with family responsibilities. The crèche staff are great - friendly, attentive, and ultimately create a safe and enjoyable environment for the kids. Unfortunately, the crèche itself has had many instances with availability due to staffing & other issues, often leaving me without the childcare options. When you're paying a premium membership, including children’s memberships it’s frustrating not to be able to rely on one of the main services you signed up for. I hope the management can address these issues soon, as it would make a huge difference for members like myself who count on this service.
Negative experience: Unfortunately the reception staff are really rude. They sound like they're stressed and overly rushed, which then comes across in the way they speak to you and handle your queries. Probably best to join a different gym as you'd expect better for the expensive cost of membership
Negative experience: Facilities are run down. When you try to cancel which has one month notice period they say from next period payment so they are threading in lines with their terms and conditions ...if you choosing a gym there are much better gyms around the area than Nuffield for similar price.
Negative experience: Been using this gym for around 2 months now, and can't really complain about what they offer in the gym. Sadly though! My car can't park in the spots which are allocated for children/family spaces. Think it's not too much to ask for people to park in the right spaces if you don't have a child, or 5 month old in the back like we do. Spoke to the lady at the front and she seemed to be so distant with my wife's questioning. I expect more of an answer than "oh, I don't know" if I want an answer like that.. I'll ask my baby when he's able to speak in a few months time.
Fantastic experience: Came here to do my RAF Pre-Joining Fitness Test and was accompanied by The Personal Trainer Almudena. She is a real treasure and asset to the Company and made me have an extremely good experience while partaking my test. Thank You Almudena!!!
Negative experience: Reception lady was very unhelpful!! We were given free passes from a friend, she had asked if she needed to be with us and was told no!! When I got there with a friend and our grandchildren she told me we couldn't go in without a member, I didn't state that on pass, I said she'd asked and she wouldn't have any of it, said it is in the contract!! Rude and unhelpful, won't bother signing up there in case all of the staff are as unhelpful as her!!
Negative experience: Had a membership here for 2 or so years and for the price that you pay it is not up to standard at all place is filthy some of the staff are rude toilets don’t flush half the time just a whole list of problems. My dad complained once at this gym and they cancelled his membership what a joke. But I guess they have good equipment still not what I expect for the price.

Fantastic experience: Jake was excellent on the tour and was able to answer every question I had. The gym is in good, clean condition and very spacious. I have signed up and am looking forward to booking classes and going for a swim. Some of the reviews are very negative, but it's important to understand that there is only so much time in the day for classes, waiting lists will happen, and you need to be quick off the mark to get a spot. I can see the staff are working on improving this with the growing demand. I will update this review if I have any bad experiences, but so far so good!
Negative experience: This Gym is soo damm frustrating as it could be one of the best gym's and spa's to go to in the local area. Something I did believe it used to have, however that is not the case anymore. Prices are continuing to go up all the time it seems and I would not mind so much if the value was there, but for the prices you pay here it's mental. The free weight area is quite heavily contested and needs an expansion plain and simple, it's got great kit in this part but is over subscribed. The cardio area is actually one of the best parts of the gym, but there is always something broken down or not working correctly here. Complaints seem to go nowhere. And Gym etiquette is certainly not a thing here. People just dump weights where ever they please and never get challenged, some people use the squat rack to bench press in when there is already barbell bench presses in place. But the worst part about this gym is the changing area and the spa area, outdated, overcrowded, can never get into the pool and the shower ceiling had black mould above for ages, although they finally cleared it up. Honestly for the price i'd recommend giving nuffiled gym Gloucester a hard pass until they clean up their act and go back to being a premium health and fitness centre like they used to be.
Negative experience: Very rude staff! I went for a swimming session refused the entrance. Discrimination at highest peak. And overpriced for what it is.
Negative experience: Guy on the phone was so lovely! didnt catch his name❤️ But i joined here in the hope of saving money on david lloyd gym. It was ridiculous that like the previous reviewer, you cant book on a single class if 20 people are on a waiting list! thats mad! & thats losing you money. Do it like david lloyd & have green,amber & purple indicators on each class so if someone drops out, you can fill the space. Kill the waiting lists!!! It was quite an effort to get a full refund after the cooling off period aswell. The receptionist was rude & midday yoga class felt feable.
Negative experience: Swimming pool was dense with chlonie-mist today. Staff refused to open doors to let fresh air in, life guard couldn't see all of the pool, swimmers were coughing profusely and struggling to swim with all the thick fog and mist in the air. They eventually evacuated the pool, but only after some time. Complete waste of my lunchtime and hazardous to swimmer's health. Where can I formally lodge a complaint? Unacceptable.
Negative experience: Joined Nuffield after Everlast started to go down hill. Paying more for my membership here I expected to be able to access everything I’m paying for. WRONG! It’s been 6 weeks and I’ve not been able to book myself onto a single class I want to do. 18 people waiting by 7:05am! It’s utterly ridiculous. They know there’s and issue, several staff members on reception have informed me you are aware of the issue. It’s not fair to expect people to set an alarm for 6:50am so they MIGHT be able to book themselves onto a class at 7am. Which, I still haven’t been able to do. The system doesn’t work, clearly, you only have to look at the amount of people on the waiting list for classes to see something is wrong. Why are there so many virtual spin classes that no-one wants to do? Why don’t you change them to classes that are stupidly booked up? Furthermore, why should I pay you the whole amount of the membership fee each month when I can’t use what you have on offer? If you’re looking to join a gym and be able to use ALL the facilities they have advertised. DO NOT JOIN HERE. I’m disappointed and to be honest not impressed at all.
Fantastic experience: Been a member for 15 years, staff always go above and beyond for you. The classes are brilliant, gym floor is expansive and well equipped wouldn’t consider anywhere but here. Extra bonus is sauna, steam hot tub and pool. Would highly recommend and coffee available 24/7

Negative experience: Disappointing experience. We were in search of a local gym and opted to visit Nuffield Health Gloucester, given Nuffield's reputation for premium quality service and facilities. While it was understandably busy for a Sunday, we were taken aback by the state of the equipment, which was noticeably worn and damaged. The changing rooms appeared outdated, and the most shocking part was the evident black mould in the shower ceiling area which I don't want to breathe in. This falls short of the standard of "health" treatment we anticipated and definitely not "Premium". Moreover, the membership price does not align with the conditions of the facilities. Regrettably, we will not be pursuing a membership here.
Dear Hélio, thank you for this feedback and apologies for the impact this has on your club visit. There was unfortunately an issue with an extractor fan that has now been fixed. The area identified in your picture has been also now been subject to a deep clean, following repair of this fault. Whilst we are sorry to read you are not joining. We do need to confirm that photography in the changing areas is strictly forbidden (regardless of the rationale). Negative experience: Recently started going again and will now be moving to another gym. The building and equipment is falling apart - spin room projector might as well be powered by a candle, LED lights not working, and half the bikes won’t connect to the Nuffield app due to Bluetooth errors. The locker room is a state, the wet clothes spinning dryer has been faulty for weeks and is often filthy. Given the prices charged this is rather poor.
Negative experience: Not worth the money they charge there is always something broken but it's the closest gym, wattbike has been broken for months the maintenance of the place is pretty poor for the prices they're charging
Negative experience: Called to ask if they offer a 1 day free trial even though on website it states they are available was rudely told no without any explanation so will not be joining, especially with such high prices.
Negative experience: Good gym and facilities Been going here for the past 8 years and have seen a decline in service. Staff are less attentive phones ringing constantly but nobody answer just their gossiping to each other. Really needs better management especially being one of the most expensive gyms in Gloucestershire
Positive experience: I've been a member on and off for a decade and generally like the gym due to being close to where I live and relatively quiet late in the evening. Recently however an influx of new members who don't put their equipment away and leave plates on the bars and all over the floor has ruined the experience somewhat. The staff seem scared to enforce gym etiquette and many seem to have given up. It is frustrating as the gym has a lot of potential and could be a premium place, but is currently a long way from this. Other major issues are the amount of broken stoppers for barbells and almost all of the leg massagers in the spa pool not working even though it was closed the entire winter. If a bit of money was spent on maintenance they could charge more and would probably have a better business. Hopefully these issues will be addressed soon.
Negative experience: I have a membership which I can go to any Nuffield gym and my local gym is in London. Visited Gloucester site and found the staff rude. I was new to this site and I did ask few questions where everything was. I think it was female manager but she had so much attitude and being very sarcastic. I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it but walked around the gym and walked straight back out. The gym facilities looks very good but just from the comments she made didn’t want to be in this gym. Honestly been to few London site and service is much better.
Negative experience: I’m writing this on Friday 14th April 2023 after joining on the 8th April 2023. I have emailed support on 12th April to cancel my membership and also responded to a complimentary email to join the gym from a member yesterday 13th April to say I’ve tried to cancel the membership for reasons I will provide below. I am writing this just to confirm I am trying to cancel within the 14 day cooling off period and am waiting for my refund. It concerns me to get slow responses in a cooling off period as some companies will try and trap you in to a contract so I’m being cautious here. Anyway, the reason I am leaving is because the reason I joined was not actually the truth. I went in on Good Friday to check out the gym, it was quiet, massive, has great equipment, lots of space and was told they are trying to sell the off peak packages because the day times are super quiet. Perfect for me. I have a bunch of mental health disorders and get really overwhelmed being around large numbers of people now so am actively seeking quiet gyms. Gyms used to be quiet 10 years ago during the day but it’s all changed now. I signed up on the Saturday and came in on the Easter Sunday which I knew would be quiet - it was suuuper quiet. I asked a PT there how it compares to the week days. They told me it’ll be the same if not quieter. Even better another confirmation it will be quiet. I went next on Wednesday 12th and to my surprise it was really busy. Most areas were occupied, all of the benches and weight area was full and to my disappointment as per other reviews people were sitting on their phones looking like they were lounging on equipment. I have no drama with people using their phone to upload their progress but you only need 30 seconds or a minute at times before you go for your next set so this really irritated me and verified the other reviews I saw. I felt so uncomfortable and thought maybe it’s a busy day than usual and went to the front desk and spoke to a woman who told me this was quiet for them… so not only was I lied to, to my face twice I was at risk of being stuck in a contract for 12 months paying £53 a month to be too uncomfortable to use the gym that was also the furthest away from me too and it wasn’t as described. All I’ll say is trust the reviews that call out the BS in businesses it’s coming from the truth and real experiences. If it’s that busy in the day it must be horrific in the evenings. It is a good gym with good facilities but not worth it. And if you prefer a quieter gym this isn’t the one and I don’t think they exist anymore.

Positive experience: Good facilities and equipment. Can get quite busy at times. Pool is very nice. I recommend going after or before peak time of 6/7pm on weekdays.
Negative experience: Really poor cannot book any classes as constantly busy and fed up with trying have tried to cancel but nobody is bothered will not be coming back or recommending once they have your money they don’t care do yourself a favour and don’t join get a fitness app online much less expensive and much better at least you can do the classes
Positive experience: Strengths: Great gym with range of equipment to meet people's needs. Freindly Staff Good pool and Sauna/Steam room facilities Weaknesses: Lately there has been a high influx of children, they are unsupervised most of the time and do not know how to use the equipment safely or effectively and are consequently wasting space in the gym. I agree in improved access to health and fitness from a young age, but there should be protected gym times for adults. The showers smell like sewage most days.
Positive experience: Been a member here for 15+ years, a few years ago wouldn’t have hesitated to give 5 stars. Unfortunately the gym seems to be oversubscribed now. One of the worst things is the amount of younger members who clog up machines and equipment whilst barely using it because they are constantly on their phones. Fed up of tripping over people’s bags (no need for them on the gym floor- plenty of lockers!) Many members (unfortunately mainly the younger ones again) don’t bother to unload bars or return equipment to its correct place- back in the day gym staff would politely ask people to do so- not any more. It seems gym etiquette just isn’t a thing anymore?! Will be looking for a new gym very soon as cannot put up with this place any longer.

Negative experience: Nuffield just announced they are closing the jacuzzi at all their facilitys to "save money" for the next 6 months! They are not passing this saving onto members who have seen their membership fee increased in the last 12 months. This is totally unacceptable. Why are members being expected to foot the bill for nuffields rising costs while having to deal with their own rising cost of living. Nuffield would do well to remember that a gym membership of this price is a luxury for a lot of people and would be one of the first things people would decide to cancel if the cost of living got too much for them.

Negative experience: Appalling Gym! The staff behave inappropriately and they employ kids! Kicked me out for having a dispute with one of their teenager tart staff members! This is a joke! AVOID!
Negative experience: Loud annoying music!! They insist on playing annoyingly loud music. The gym is feels like a teenagers bedroom! 90% of the members wears headphones; but the people here are adamant that their poor music taste is we all must enjoy!
Negative experience: Going downhill. I came for an open day after being a member previously. The staff barely look at you or speak, you feel unwelcome. The place is falling to bits. In the men's there is a tap that's falling off. The changing rooms smell and have doors missing on the lockers. The gym is ok actually. Not too busy overall apart from obvious times. The sauna has tape everywhere looks unattractive. The steam room is better. The jacuzzi always seems to be playing up. And even when in these spa facilities you hear constant noise from kids in the pool. Overall very shoddy for 53 pounds a month barring any discount you may receive
Negative experience: Been at this gym for coming up to 3 years now.. it was brilliant when I first started but past 6 months in my opinion it’s gone down hill and is picking up speed, all the old regular members seem to have left but loads of new members who sit on machines on their phones have joined and your constantly waiting to use machines. Never any wipes to wipe down the machines, PT’s change month to month, for a hospital company it’s actually not that clean like it used to be, for the price 1000% better out there for 1/2 the price
Positive experience: Gym update really good and everything you could need, free parking and easily accessible from Gloucester & Cheltenham. However pool and sauna/steam room small and tired, could really do with an update
Positive experience: The gym itself is great, and everything is being kept clean and following covid safety. Unfortunatley the spa/pool area is very tired and dated. Hopefully they invest some money into it as it doesn't match up to the gym and therefore the price of membership.
Fantastic experience: Love this gym! The staff are lovely and the facilities are great - especially the pool and hot tub! Does get pretty busy at peak times though and some of the popular classes can be difficult to get on to. Overall a great experience, with plenty of free parking.

Negative experience: Be very careful when you sign up with a 12 month contract. They can change the opening hours of the gym to close earlier and still charge the same amount but dont give the members the choice to cancel membership if the hours no long suit them ( surprise its in the contract they can do what they want). Also will send debt collectors after you the minute you dont pay even when you say you'll pay for it and have an agreement in place to pay as they couldn't set direct debits up in time for payments to come out. Avoid at all cost. Tried to cancel but they dont listen and wont let you cancel early. Constantly quote about memebership contract which i can't view on my online account, also not emailed when i joined online. So never had chance to read it.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant place. Amazing gym, real top notch equipment, you couldn't ask for more. Great cafe, and the pool / sauna / steam room / jacuzzi is brilliant also. When you put it all together this is really amazing value for money.
Fantastic experience: Very good gym,polite members of staff who are very friendly,amazing, new equipment. TOP of the range gear, a wide variety of things there with a nice swimming pool and a clean cafe.
Positive experience: The refurbishment of the gym makes it an ok gym to use. I have used many Nuffields across the UK, here you needto bring your own padlock, sweat and shower towel which many of the other gyms provide. Showers are some of the cleanest I have used.
Fantastic experience: Great gym - I recommend the Personal Training (especially Scott Walker who is very flexible & able to tailor sessions according to needs). Membership is very reasonable for all the facilities offered. Post the refurb things are looking very nice.
Fantastic experience: Probably the best gym I have ever been in. Excellent customer service, fantastic personal trainers, in particular Paul Middlewood - friendly atmosphere catering for both occasional gym goers and pro athletes.
Fantastic experience: Now that the referb is complete there isn't a better gym in Gloucester. Well worth it for the price! The equipment is second to none, the staff are friendly and the gym is always spotless. Very happy with it.
Positive experience: Great facilities and friendly staff. Gym classes are also enjoyable. I regularly go to classes and most trainers are very professional. Plenty of equipment at the gym so you never have to wait to use anything - which is a big plus! The only areas I would improve would be female changing room temperature (slighty too cold when you leave swimming pool) and the shower by the sauna that is broken for about a month now. I really can’t understand why it takes so long to fix something, something seemingly simple. The pool area needs modernising, comparing to other gyms it seems slighty out of date (especially jacuzzi area). Also, could politely remind some people that staying in Jacuzzi for 1.5 hours is inconsiderate and should allow other people access (especially if groups of 10 people come in). A sign restricting time spent would work well as it does in other gyms. Other than that would recommend the gym to most people, it’s few simple things that could be resolved easily.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly Gym. I'm extremely obese and the staff and members smile and make me feel so welcome and one of them. Never feel self conscious here. Love it.
Positive experience: I visited this gym in the summer time to use the swimming facilities, which I was pleasantly surprised with. I’ve recently joined up as a member and the gym facilities are great as well! But the members of staff just don’t seem professional or helpful. I was promised a phone call back, I then had to call up again about my enquiry to which I was told again that someone would call me back and again I never received the call. When I called up a final time my query was dealt with right away, I don’t understand why it took three attempts to do this. I then needed to fill out some forms and I found the member of staff a little in friendly. It’s such a shame because the facilities are great! Considering the price you pay for a membership the service just doesn’t show that value.

Positive experience: Large gym with excellent facilities, fitness classes and lovely pool area. However it lacks a friendly more personal approach. The bar area doesnt match the quality Nuffield usually offers with very few healthy drinks or snacks available. Service sadly does not match the expensive membership fee.

Positive experience: I am currently trying out North Gifford gym on a free trial from my work, so far facilities are good but receptionist treating my trial with contempt and snootiness .... it really does not reflect very good reviews here, as I am considering joining a health club in the next month or so and the first impressions really do count

Fantastic experience: The staff here are brilliant, always on hand to help with any quiries. Facilities are brilliant with plenty of cv equipment, boxing bag + kickboxing bag on the gym floor. & free weights area there's cables & with 5 squat racks so you won't be get away with making excuses for skipping leg day. Swimming pool & saunas great additions also.
