Our comment from FitFit UK about Everlast Gyms - Swindon:
Welcome to Everlast Gyms in Swindon! This center provides a vibrant atmosphere and a variety of equipment catering to fitness enthusiasts of all levels. The gym has received positive feedback for its friendly staff and great pool facilities, which include two Jacuzzis and a steam room. Many members commend the recent refurbishment that has introduced new gym equipment and improved the overall experience.
Members appreciate the spacious layout and the sense of community where everyone is focused on their personal fitness goals. There are also numerous classes available, with some saying that specific instructors bring great energy to their sessions.
However, there are areas that need attention, including staff responsiveness and hygiene standards. A number of users have reported issues with cleanliness and the maintenance of equipment, with broken machines often taking a long time to repair. Furthermore, the inconsistent opening hours have left some members frustrated, as they can inhibit access before and after work hours.
Despite these challenges, many loyal members continue to enjoy their experience at Everlast Gyms-Swindon, valuing the overall environment and the range of services available. Improvements in communication and facility maintenance could further enhance the experience for all members.
Services, Machines and Guided Classes
Everlast Gyms - Swindon: Opinions
Positive experience: Staff at reception more interested in phones than members. Easy jon for them tho.... Cleaning gym with headphones on meaning do not disturb me.... I would love opening times start at 5am before work.
Negative experience: Not people, but animals go there. Toilets are disgusting, gym doesn’t provide wipes for sweat so everything is absolutely sticky and sweaty. Quite often leave people with no water available, so you need to PAY for the bottled water at reception. Absolute disrespect. Leaving soon.
Negative experience: Used to be a good gym before they changed it, terrible gym now, busier, inconsiderate people, worse machines, the old one before the refurb was so much better, everything you could have asked for. Do not recommend
Negative experience: Warning closing times are not as advertised on google! Closing time for the weekend is 18:00 and closes early on Fridays too. I meet a very member of staff who told me very abruptly that I was wrong. Maybe some extra staff training would not go a miss on how to speak to customers who have taken the opening times posted as correct. Very disappointing
Negative experience: Went around 3pm to train legs couldn’t get on any equipment I wanted. Was just full of kids sat on there phone on machine and when asked how many sets left they would be like awhile . Ended up leaving and driving to another gym. Gym looks good and the equipment is good if you are able to get on any.
Negative experience: Terms and conditions not fair, and not honest, need 3 months !!! to notify them to end membership on 12 months contract, when its actually ended after 12 months. Does not making any sense. Changed during my year of my membership to 3 months. Used to be 30 days. Also, solarium gone, jacuzzi gone, steam not working every time, so often is off. In December 1 months off, cause refurb, but payment taken. Not recommend to anyone. I am done with them, for good.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant And Even If Your Very Unfit It Doesn't Matter As Everyone Is There For There Own Purpose Gym has now been revamped and its much better in every area
Fantastic experience: Joined a year ago and would have given it 5 stars then……now with the refurb, new look, new equipment it’s worth even more stars! Hadn’t expected the changing rooms to be refitted, so that was a bonus! Plenty of new equipment to try and has definitely been the motivation needed to kick start the end of the year / start of 2025!
Fantastic experience: The gym has learned from the last refit and really leaned into the Death Star aesthetic this time. 66% of the customers have obligingly dressed as minor Imperial Officers on mandatory exercise break. The new lockable shower cubicles are perfect for some gentlemanly relief if you've not had time at work or a force awakens. Either way I give it the Imperial Order of Merit for a job well done.
Fantastic experience: Great gym, great staff member.
Negative experience: Swindon!!!! No one is communicating about gym classes will be shut off from next week, I will technically not be able to use the gym as all classes I normally visited are just not on schedule anymore - I need to give you 1 month notice still, even if you end the best classes without any notice?? All classes stay on schedule will be held by your normal staff - still, it would have been nice if you could just send an email a month early about changes so people can find an other place, other classes instead of the ones you had for years! We had to get the info from the instructors on class, I asked at the reception what was going on, they said no more contractor classes and they don't know yet if the gym in Swindon is going to close and when.. poor staff, I can't imagine how humiliating the situation is for them as they don't know what to say when people is asking for more details. You should probably have a good plan and communicate it to your customers first. I asked about a zumba class in email, the class was not on schedule as usual, it was about 2 weeks ago -- well, they just don't bother answering their emails now!!!! Well done really, gyms like this will go under administration, what people need: a clean place, beneficial classes, and good - transparent - communication! They raised the membership prices recently then closed the steam room - just well done again!!!! Not talking about the nincest teachers you're just sending away 1 month before Christmas!!! It's truly, utterly disgusting, I am giving up my membership today.
Negative experience: Very poor gym. Cables are often broken and take around a week before they get replaced! Tough when there’s a handful of cables in the whole gym. Steam room is always broken and is often closed for months at a time. Even the floor is a potential problem as the linen is flared in places, making it a trip hazard. Such a terrible, overpriced commercial gym. Surprised a company like Everlast would allow a gym like this to exist. Only good thing I can say is mediocre equipment and great location. Could be great
Positive experience: The Gym set up looks great but it appears they still use some outdated equipment . The floor is a serious trip hazard. Steam room constantly breaks down and takes weeks to fix it. Jacuzzi has been out of order almost for ever.
Negative experience: Opening times are not really convenient, opens far too late for going before work. It also shuts too early if you work in a shop. The only other gym in the area besides a super expensive one. Even after the change in ownership, no improvement of the changing rooms and bathrooms look very tired. Communal showers only and no family changing. Poor etiquette from users leaving the changing room floor flooded with water, one guy cutting nails leaving them on the floor!! The instructors seem to spend time in reception unless paid for 1:1, difficult to see them wondering around to check or help.
Fantastic experience: Legs Bums and tums followed by Aqua Fit, 2 great classes led by the lovely Steph
Positive experience: Been going for around 4 to 5 months and its pretty good, friendly staff and good facilities however the opening times on the weekend are a bit poor.
Negative experience: Just cancled my membership after being with them for 3 years. Hot tubs - removed, steam room- mostly out of order, tanning- removed, changing rooms very old and lockers often stick and staff need calling (not great when in a wet swimming costume ) gym very aged, pool is OK but often teenagers flinging themselves around so can't just do lengths. Very strong chlorine, bleached my swim suit and eyes burnt. Good points- location
Negative experience: Been a member of this gym for over 6 years, back when it was a DW gym and had a different entrance way up though the shop, and just recently cancelled my membership for the first time. I'm not sure what has happened over the years but maybe from a lack of care or funding from SportsDirect (Everlast) who've bought them out, it has just gone downhill since. It feels very few staff (NOT all) give a sh about customer service, and rather hang out upstairs near the reception with groups of friends(?). The price has shot up since Everlast without anything to show for it. More often than not the gym is now overcrowded, and its pretty common now to see large groups of younger ones now crowding around / hogging equipment. There were signs put up that only groups of 3 can work out together but the enforcement of this I can't comment on. The opening times for this day and age are sadly not good enough, especially for the amount of active memberships they seem to have. I think the only positive that I've seen since the take over is the fact the lockers are now padlocks instead of needing to put in a £1 coin. Sorry Everlast I wish I had better to say.
Positive experience: My main problem with the swindon gym is the hygiene of all the equipment! It is not cleaned regularly enough if at all! I am a regular been in all times of day couple times a week and notice them hoover around equipment all the time or mop changing rooms but have never seen them clean the equipment properly ive noticed certain equipment being dirty couple days later ill go check and its still the same! If equipment breaks it takes weeks for them to be repaired too, Loved the idea of this gym having 2 saunas and a pool but now the saunas are out of use due to not enough money to maintain apparently.
Fantastic experience: Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Always clean and neat.
Negative experience: Finally decided to leave this gym, when I started it wasn’t too bad other than it being busy and needing a lot of refurbishments. Issue is the opening times are rubbish if you want to go in the evening especially on the weekend. Also the removal of some facilities and then broken equipment but keeping the price the same after it went up it really isn’t worth the money anymore. Also the showers and changing rooms are so outdated. Who wants to get changed or shower with absolutely no privacy. The pool was good but the fact they got rid of the jacuzzis is a big shame, and the steam room was often out of order.
Negative experience: Rude and unhelpful staff. Outdated and dirty changing areas and showers, several lockers broken. Very high chlorine in pool and the two spa pools permanently out of order.
Negative experience: Been going since October, Both Jaquzzis were either broken or out of order completely. Now they have been removed and covered up both, an email went round saying they are removing their spa's to 'Elevate the member experience'. This is funny they should read these reviews and try to fix some problems. The Sauna is often broken and not working. The changing areas, shower areas and showers are disgusting and in desperate need of upgrades. The gym is always absolutely rammed there doesn't seem to be any quiet times. Opening hours are poor, it could stay open later on weekends and evenings. Gym equipment is often broken and in poor condition. I would not recommened joining this gym.
Negative experience: Gym is ok, poor decision to clutter the already small warm up/stretch corner with ski ergs. Changing rooms have not been refurbished since they were built twenty years ago, tired at best. I am always amazed when I walk in or leave and greet the person on reception, only to be stared at blankly with no response, nothing wrong with someone being shy or socially unskilled, but it makes them a poor choice for a job on reception, receptionists receive, they are the first point of contact.
Positive experience: I have been there before the pandemic on it was lovely
Negative experience: No. That's all I can say this is a scam first thing first we walked in and went up some stairs not a hello or welcome just staring the first thing they asked us was want to be a member? We said let's see what we think first then we will get back to you the two men on reception we unprofessional and rude the pool and the whole building was run down our swim was nice but It was so busy and teeming we got back and we discussed and one of them were eating and whispering and staring we said that there is no wear to get changed you have to do it infront of people and everyone star at you i went in the Toilet to get changed and got told off by a rude staff member Also, it's called a free swim.We checked this place out to see if it was for us.And it said come along for a free swim but we had to pay five pounds And the staff are just so unprofessional, and so read. The building was so unclean and run down.I'm not going to be coming back here again
Positive experience: Swimming pool surroundings slippy and needed a more frequent mop. You need to feel you can walk safely. No machines to spin excess water out of your costume. Many lockers out of action. Huge gym. Tons of equipment.
Fantastic experience: Great gym and swimming pool and steam. Great value for money. Great classes too and the staff and instructors are fantastic. In my expert opinion, I would thoroughly recommend.
Negative experience: A good gym at a good price. Only use it in normal work hours so not as busy. Evenings and early morning is suppose to be very busy. The machines are looking a bit tired especially the cardio. The changing rooms are an utter disgrace. Been there since it was DW gym so there over 20 years old. Shameful. Never been refurbed. The pool is ok should have been made wider and a 25 metre pool. The gym equipment that I always use. Always has little issues like pull down bar. The rope mechanism is not smooth been like it for 3 years. Unless it’s completely broke it doesn’t get fixed. Just remember Everlast JD sports have opened there’s it’s all new and cheaper.
Negative experience: No security for kids in pool side as few people come with phone and sit on the side and watching everyone swimming and maybe taking pic as I used this gym with my kids so I have raised with management they ignored couple of time and I was raising the issue when I see someone in poolsides with the phone in the end I have raised issues with higher management and when I turn up in gym they said your membership been cancelled ( all family membership cancelled) because I was raising the very sensitive issues to them anyway using at the moment David lloyd but very serious advise to parents if you taking your kids to Everlast you putting your kids on risk and your self .( nothing worth it if it’s impact on your kids or your self .( take it seriously what I said ) and the staff have no manners and they don’t know what are they doing WORST GYM ever I have experienced And it’s EVERLAST GYM , swindon Orbital park
Fantastic experience: Dużo miejsca dużo sprzętu i miła obsługa jest basem
Negative experience: Absolute Scam! The management haven’t even got permission of any sort by “HQ” to do anything at all! They are utterly useless! AVOID AVOID AVOID! The facilities are appalling with stench of BO and god knows what else. The Pools and wet areas have moulds and fungi growing in areas. Despite supposedly being an adult only gym, don’t hold your hopes up for relaxing in the spa/pool area where there are kids screaming 24/7 splashing and dashing left right and centre. The equipment in the gym is 4-10 as it’s essentially slightly below the bare minimum expectations you may have for a gym. It lacks in certain categories of equipment and not to mention some of the equipment is either in horrendous shape or old enough to be only good for scrap metal. I went to this gym for over a year as it was the closest one, and hated every single session as they had locked me into a ridiculous contract with no option of early termination. NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND SHOUKD EVER GO TO THIS GYM!
Fantastic experience: Best gym and swimming place I have been in a very long time.
Negative experience: Where’s the working Air Con Who’s stupid idea to paint it all black Feels like a depressed hot dungeon
Negative experience: The worst gym that I have ever been to in my life, not enough equipment and always busy. Buzz gym is 10 times better, also cheaper and it's 24/7! I gave it 2 starts just for the pool.
Negative experience: Website and conditions says jounors membership. You go in and you get told the complete opposite very poor management or young people in there. Even down loaded the Website conditions. these young people on reception.
Negative experience: Online it says 14 -17 yeah old junior membership but if you go in, the reception say you cant go to the gym until 16!
Positive experience: Pretty cheap and cheerful. The pool is about 85% swimming lanes so not too great for kids but it’s a gym pool so can’t expect too much. It’s well kept, the changing rooms are lovely and clean.
Fantastic experience: Very good gym.
Positive experience: Good gym, decent size gym, pool, steam room and Jacuzzis. In the middle of a shopping park but plenty of parking. All facilities are on the first floor not ground floor
Negative experience: The place should have the same closing times on the weekend as it does during the week
Positive experience: Good Gym but can get very busy, also overdue a refurb
Negative experience: Staff have really bad attitudes, classes are over booked resulting in people being so close they touch when stretching out. Changing rooms and dated and dirty, showers are covered in build ups of sock lint. In all a pretty nasty place to spend anytime
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff great atmosphere recommend wish was open later and weekends
Negative experience: Nasty gross place .. very old and dirty changing rooms, so much chlorine in the pool that it stings your eyes, they don't respect their rules (teenagers come and disturb, jump in the pool and the staff members don't say anything) I honestly don't recommend it, it's a waste of money and the risk of leaving with a disease from there! Me and my partner use to go there and we disgusted!!!!!!
Negative experience: Dirty place ,lasy cleaners - even I noticed the reception nothing done . Shame to do my gym there . But unfortunately I don't have a closer one. Pity, other could be good
Fantastic experience: Joined mainly for the pool. Great pool, split into swim lanes; slow medium and fast. This is great when you want to do some lengths without being interrupted by kids/teens. Downside is you need to bring your own locker padlock. And there is no machine to dry out your trunks. Gym facilities seem well stocked though. But smaller than you would imagine. Not done a class but passed some in action and look good. Personal trainers are available too. Not sure on individual pricing for them though.
Negative experience: not worth the money, locker rooms are always dirty, machines are often broken for a long time, tiny gym for so many users
Negative experience: Dirty. Disgusting. Now even removed blue roll/towel to wipe down machines but leave the antibacterial spray??♂️
Negative experience: Good gym during the quiet periods. The gym isn't big enough or have have enough kit to accommodate the amount of members between 2pm and 8pm absolutely pointless trying to train.
Positive experience: Very good abit pricey tho
Positive experience: Decent facilities, been coming here for a few years. No other nearby gym to compete with. They don’t give you a free month if you bring someone, they jast say they will and if they put up challenges in the gym and say you’ll get something if you win, they don’t give you that either.
Negative experience: I am an old customer, 15yrs customer from day one when it opened and to be honest I can only say that I have not seen any improvements but getting worse every year....
Negative experience: After two years of membership it occurred that I am still on a three month notice which was ridiculous and when I gave them one month they started to threaten me and apply charges. I didn’t care and left anyway. Avoid this place!
Negative experience: I have genuinely struggled to cancel my membership and its been going on for two months. And its still not sorted. I went it today and the Asian lady on the front desk was texting on her phone for a good 5 minutes before she saw me waiting at the front desk. I have emailed my cancellation 3 times and the messages just get ignored. I fully expect to get a bill in the post. But I am a solicitor and fully expect this to go legal. Take my advice give this one a miss. I would be ashamed if my company had such poor customer service.
Negative experience: Very small and congested.
Fantastic experience: A good gym at a fair price. Especially the pool.
Fantastic experience: My granddaughter has swimming lessons there brilliant. Staff are very friendly
Positive experience: almost everything is good, apart from the shower in the toilet which has a very disgusting floor, glass and wall.
Negative experience: They are turning new customers away because the system is not working.
Positive experience: This place is great
Negative experience: After my 12 months ended I cancelled my membership but then told I'd need to pay for another 3 months until they finally stop taking direct debits. Can't remember being told this would happen when I signed up
Positive experience: I get a good workout here, especially going up the stairs to the reception, phew. But they do have a lift if the stairs get too much! They have all the gym equipment imaginable plus a good pool with steam room and two Jacuzzis. There are plenty of cleaning stations, with copious supplies of sprays and tissues. And now a member can bring a guest (free) twice a month.
Positive experience: Well equipped gym with a wide range of group sessions and a pool.
Positive experience: Fairly good gym for the price, compared to others in Swindon.
Fantastic experience: Great gym! Wide range of equipment in a spacious room, good range of sessions, great pool with 2 large Jacuzzis and a steam room. All supervised by knowledgeable friendly staff. What more do you want?
Negative experience: Beware of opening times. Allowed myself and my young son in and after literally 5 minutes in the pool asked to leave as it’s an adult only time. Perhaps a warning at reception before entry would have been a good idea??? Fobbed off with a complimentary guest pass. Not really acceptable and no conciliation to a very disappointed 9 year old.
Negative experience: Equipment is constantly broken, when it’s broken, don’t expect it back for a couple of weeks. This has a bad knock on affect to the severe overpopulation of the gym, when all the equipments taken and everything free is broke it doesn’t help drive towards a great session. There are pieces of equipment that haven’t been fixed in months. It’s also a common gathering place for groups of 5/6 people procrastinating around equipment. And all for the cheap price of £30! Absolutely laughable. If you want to take training remotely seriously or benefit then every other place available is probably better. Not a surprise that they rope you in to the cancellation period and don’t respond to members.
Fantastic experience: Good
Negative experience: Rude staff! Trying to use the yoga room to relax, stretch and get some privacy but i was told I need to keep the doors open for health and safety. Keeping the doors open meant hearing the loud music in the gym and besides we were 2 inside the room so can't see any problem with health and safety. What s the point to pay a membership if I can't use the facilities freely! Staff is rude and unhelpful and the service is only getting worse
Fantastic experience: This was my first visit at Everlast gym. I used the swimming pool. Very clean tidy. Showers slight dated but clean and hot. Pool area very clean. Temperature of the pool good. Jacuzzi very warm.
Positive experience: Staff are useless, bad customer service. I know you go to the gym for the amenities and Everlast is well equipped (hence I didn't go for less than 3 stars) but the staff are often ruining my experience.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym, great equipment, nice atmosphere and helpful P.Ts. Sign me up baby!
Negative experience: I've Been using Buzz Gym for the Past Couple of months and had the Opportunity for a three day Gym Pass to use Everlast fitness Gym in the Swindon the Orbital' I wasn't to Overly Impressed to be Honest I think Buzz Gym Beats Everlast hands Down it's Open 24/7 and the equipment is Great to use.. The membership at Buzz is £19.99 and Everlast fitness is £34 6am till 10pm. It was Nice to use Everlast But its Not for me' there's a Warmer atmosphere at Buzz Gym and the Personal Trainer's are more approachable.. Sorry Everlast fitness
Negative experience: First time going here - my partner brought me on her bring a friend pass. Not impressed unfortunately. The man on reception wasn’t too friendly and the pool was closed. No sign or notice at the entrance - lots of disappointed members coming to the actual pool and seeing the sign. For £30 a month, maybe a sign or a warning so not a wasted trip. One of the hot tubs was closed too. Not a great first impression and won’t be signing up.
Negative experience: I tried to get a refund for paying a membership for a year upfront to get a discount, however due to the pandemic they have stolen my money and wont give me a refund. I have no intention of going to the gym due to the risk and I am elderly, but they wont give me my money back just because I paid upfront and others who paid monthly were able to stop their subscriptions entirely and not have to pay anymore, but they have stolen my money
Negative experience: Where is the information for bringing children to the pool?? Why do you not have it on your website with all the other information?
Negative experience: Not very clean e.g weight rack and more expensive than others gyms The paint is coming off from walls in various places especially on the male changing room.
Negative experience: I can not believe that Everlast gym closes at 5 pm so early and is closed on Saturday and Sunday It is impressive and ridiculous
Positive experience: Very over priced lacks enough equipment for its members so usually waiting for a turn.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant equipment and pleasant staff and service, cleaning equipment present across the gym
Positive experience: Good gym has what I need
Fantastic experience: Good facilities
Negative experience: This is not a fitness first! The staff were very rude and unhelpful in relaying this information
Fantastic experience: Great gym I cannot do without it, friendly and very helpful staff. And reasonably priced in my opinion, there is plenty of parking as there is a massive Asda and a lot of other shops nearby, and plenty of bus stops.
Negative experience: As a longstanding member of DW and at 83 the oldest member with an annual membership which had been frozen because of my medical condition, the pandemic and the closure of all the gyms I have been told today that my membership expired 10 days ago and the months that were frozen where lost because I had not been in contact with Everlast! I did not know the club had been taken over by Everlast and at no time was I aware that my contact needed to be extended by contacting Everlast. I was deeply upset to think that after all the happy years I have had with DW and their staff, this new uncaring bunch of people with no respect or consideration for anyone, just fobbed me off without any thought whatsoever! If this is what we can expect from the Everlast employees then it is a sad reflection of how low standards of decency and understanding have fallen in this country! I have never expected any special treatment, all I was asking for was to restart at the gym with the remaining time on my £300 contract, unfortunately Everest do not honor the DW contracts - such is life!
Fantastic experience: Fab spinning session by Kate as always, a good welcome back and thought it was a lovely thought to have the welcome back balloons.
Negative experience: Keep taking money off me despite constant emails to cancel my membership
Negative experience: As per other reviews I have been trying to cancel membership since October 2020 as that was when my years contract term finished. Since then I have emailed several times, called all customer service numbers with no luck whats so ever. Absolute joke of a company and to top it off they took an admin charge off me in April 2021. This surely can’t be legal and to treat customer this way is disgusting!
Fantastic experience: Easy to sign up. App works. Staff were really friendly and helpful. It's not overcrowded and the place has a nice vibe to it. Everyone appears to be working out really hard. I'm enjoying my sessions in there.
Positive experience: A well presented commercial gym, all standard equipment is present and correct. It has a pool that is open and a sauna that is not due to covid. Only one level of membership available at the moment about £500 per year no walk-ins.
Negative experience: Since taking over from DW sports my account has been put under query, they say to call my local gym, but there is no telephone number for them. I tried the old DWnumber and it just cuts off. I have no access to anything online either., the drop down menu on their contact us form doesn't allow for account queries. No communication from them either.
Negative experience: Nice gym, garbage company.
Negative experience: My membership with DW was frozen until January, however since transferring over to Everlast this month (after they bought the gym), a direct debit of the full membership amount was taken. At no point was I informed that the freeze on my membership had been cancelled. It is impossibly to get through on their phone line, and they don't answer any emails (so far totally 6 from me over the last 2 weeks). Pretty shocking service.
Negative experience: You can't contact them because no phone number
Negative experience: Since reopening the main hall has not reduced capacity enough. 22 spots is over ambitious (was 24-26 before) & everyone is too close together. Spinning class reduced to 15 which is great - I feel the hall should be the same
Negative experience: Is it still open? Can’t find the Swindon one on their website and their number’s been turned off?
Fantastic experience: First class facilities. Pity covid closed the steam room.....
Positive experience: First day back, did my session at 7.30 for an hour and it was well organised and quiet.
Positive experience: Closing down sale now on. Some great bargains.
