Fantastic experience: I have signed up this week after the trial. Overall, I have been really impressed. Every member of staff I have spoken to has been kind and attentive, from Jake on my first visit, to the man who was life guarding (I couldn’t see very well but he was very helpful)! To Rachel who was on reception one evening - very helpful giving me options to Lucas today and the other lady on reception. I felt like I was being listened to and it felt like people take pride in their work. I read the reviews before visiting and can understand why people might be frustrated if things don’t work all the time, however, my first impressions were that facilities were being maintained and there are a lot of facilities available! Lots of classes to choose from too. Thank you for a great welcome
Fantastic experience: Polite staff,place is so clean. My only nag is we are getting changed the cleaning lady comes in cleaning the men’s changing and shower rooms??

I am aware that there is a loud announcement on entering to make everyone aware, however we will reinforce with signs in the changing room the expected timings for cleaning. Positive experience: I was a member from 2022-mid 2023. I agree with some others on here that maintenance is pretty poor and there is always something that needs doing/replacing/broken which takes a while and is a bodge fix when finally done.. However I still believe that the gym has a good range of technogym cardio/resistance equipment and plenty of weights so you can do any type of workout. I have been there on multiple occasions during peak times and haven't really struggled to get onto one of the machines id like to use. The sauna area is pretty decent and I use it most days (there has been issues with low temperature, and spa pool was closed for winter due to energy bill..) it's a little cramped during peak times but Ive also been the only person in the entire spa area on the weekend which is nice. Feels clean and pretty well looked after overall as well as the pool. The men's changing rooms are pretty small and cramped which makes you want to get in and out as quick as possible, I'd say it could do with a bit of work. Apart from that I have a good experience and would say it's worth the money if you will use most of the facilities multiple times per week, otherwise probably too expensive for the occasional visit and a shame about the shabby upkeep considering it's meant to be a fairly premium place. Can't really comment on the classes (apart from I know they always look busy) and PT as I don't use them.

Positive experience: It’s disappointing that we have been members here for over 2 years and things continue to be broken / break and not have a priority to be fixed. For example the steps at the far end of the pool have been broken for almost 2 years and the steam room continues to break and is out of use for weeks at a time. We are pleased the jacuzzi pool is in use this winter as last year it was turned off due to high energy bills however our memberships rose but facilities were less.

Negative experience: My physio made an application for me to join the Joint Pain Programm with yourselves. I received an email on 7th March stating that you had received my "referral from your clinician to take part in our Joint Pain Programme" and asked me to complete some extra questions online which I did and then I have not heard nothing since. On 26th April my physio made a second referral to Weston Super Mare Nuffield (in front of me so I know she sent it) but again I have not received anything back. On 1st May at 10:18 I phoned Nuffield Weston Super Mare and spoke to a lady on reception. I asked to speak to the person running the programme to find out where the problem was with the referral. She said there was two people who run it. One was on Holiday and one was about to go on holiday but she said she "promised" to pass my details on to them and get them to call me as soon as possible and took all my contact details. I have no doubts that she kept her promise with passing on my details but then why neither of the two people running the programme contact me? I also popped in to Taunton Nuffield in case I had any better luck there but the person on reception told me their person was also on holiday.
Negative experience: The changing room needs serious renovation. The frosted glass for the showers gives you zero privacy. You get a better option at Hutton Moore. And there’s minimal changing cubical your lucky if you can grab one of the make shift changing facility with a shower curtain.
Negative experience: This gym has been dilapidating for some time. The changing rooms are in need of a deep clean and a fresh coat of paint. The spa is constantly out of order, and the main gym is too small to facilitate the number of members at peak times. The members pay a premium for this gym in Weston, which warrants a better service.
Negative experience: Over priced gym! Everything is broken, the spa facility is always broken! No updates or emails about the spa not working, just a small note at the reception! The changing rooms and the showers are in need of a good cleaning or renovation! Not to mention that the shower glass is transparent, no privacy! The classes are always fully booked and very little choices after 7pm.
Negative experience: Great pool but the steam room, hot tub and sauna are either broken or barely functioning pretty much all the time. Overpriced considering you can only ever use the pool or gym. Seems zero urgency to actually resolve the issues too long term.
Negative experience: Jacuzzi not working , steam room not working, members are complaining to staff, they repair them , they work for a week then they brake again. Gym is ok , clean not to busy Considering the spa is mostly broken, the place is overpriced.
Negative experience: Really friendly guys who work there however if something breaks it’s broken forever ! There is a swim suit spinner in the gents changing area that needs a £2 part not worked now for 3 weeks, the steam room hasn’t worked for 2 weeks and the hydrospa is broken every week normally for 2 days. The place is meant to be a premium health centre but the maintenance is pitiful. It’s not the maintenance guys fault it’s the pathetic rules from the head office where they have to get auth for even a £2 part. If you don’t mind paying top end money and not being able to use half the place then it’s a great place !!
Negative experience: It’s a nice gym can be busy some hours as normal but considering they promote mental health I’ve had staff follow me around and stare at me, gossip about my appearance (as someone I know who works there told me) the staff have no emotional intelligence and lack the capacity to understand what someone else may be going through and how daunting this can be on their mental
Negative experience: A decent gym and friendly staff members, but that's where the good review ends, the negative of this review is extensive, constant issues with the spa area, out of use for day/s at a time, just when you think it's good, it goes wrong, time and again they will let you down and for a high fee, definitely wouldn't recommend at all.

Negative experience: Not worth the money! Facilities require refurbishment, gym is small and you can find better equipment in any other gym in weston. Hutton Moor gym is much better!
Negative experience: The gym is very very good/excellent but the beauty clinic is a waste of money. I booked Jana for manicure/pedicure, gel nails and removel, all paid in advance . I was asked to pay a twice for removal! She didn't do a full pedicure nor manicure, and the gel nails didn't last a week before peeling off/cracking ...I do not recommend at all!
Negative experience: I left here after my year membership was up: in the winter they suddenly shut down the spa pool to "save money" but offered no compensation in the membership fee. Also, swimming pool full of kids at the weekend which you don't expect in Nuffield. Having rejoined Hutton Moore instead, I can confirm Hutton Moore gym equipment is all-new and better.
Fantastic experience: I have been to a number of Nuffield gyms and this is by far one of the best. The reception team are amazing and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome.
Negative experience: Spa pool has broken again after being off for months, place is a joke, just cancelled my membership, what you pay for the membership, doesn't reflect on the quality of the place, you don't go to a high class restaurant and expect greasy spoon food, nor should you wish to pay a premium membership at a gym and get equipment broken for months and some of the jet washes have been broken for years! Also the suna hasn't got proper lighting. I'd be haapy to pay for £5 a month no more.
Negative experience: Was told the jacuzzi will not be working until March as it’s not due for a review until then. Quite dissatisfied and disappointed since the membership isn’t cheap and you do expect everything to be working properly that you have been advertised.
Fantastic experience: Joined 2 weeks ago and I love the place, it's not just a gym but it's a great place to meet and talk to other people.....it's worth the monthly fee
Negative experience: Tried using the gym this morning around 10am on a Tuesday, car park was full. Was told they have lots of classes on, perhaps they should spread them out.
Fantastic experience: Great place, very clean and the staff are so lovely and easy to talk to.
Positive experience: Have nt joined yet as still looking around for exactly what we need as a family. Clean and tidy and staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I think its quite expensive but they do offer alot in terms of classes and facilities.
Positive experience: I have been coming here now for two months and I really enjoy finishing off with spending an hour using the sauna, steam room and hydrotherapy pool Although the steam room seems to be getting darker each time I visit with the lights not working The hydrotherapy pool has most of the features working, Although the curved seating with the jets has not worked since I signed up Maybe one day that will be fixed Currently the biggest problem with the showers around by the sauna/steam room is the inability of people to turn them off after use (I'm sure that they manage to turn off the shower at home) Although I have never been shown how to use the equipment in the gym or even spoken to a member of staff upstairs most of the equipment is easy to use and combined with the app is child's play Staff are around if they are needed but they are not in your face which is how I like it
Negative experience: A serviceable gym and my local one. Thought it was "ok" value until I visited another in the Network up in Gloucester. Twice the space, and equipment, with generally better maintained facilities. Wish I could go there all the time!
Negative experience: Pool and sauna are very run down and desperately need a refurb. In the hot tub area only 1/4 showers working, Massage jets broken and missing controllers, when actually "working" pressure is non existent Pieces of the ceiling held on with sticky tape. Rusty vents, mould and missing tiles. Generally very shabby and poorly maintained. Showers in the changing rooms are pathetic, nothing more than a slight drizzle of water.
Fantastic experience: Best gym in town in my opinion ... front desk staff are great ...service with a smile always goes down well and gym is clean and welcoming
Positive experience: I've had a membership here for about 18 months now. Before covid I never really had any issues other than often having to wait for certain weights in the gym. Since covid and we have to use the app to book it has really interfered with the exercise I can do. Before I would never struggle to go swimming now sessions are always booked up. I've even seen it where a session has said it's full yet there aren't more than 5 people in the pool. This is frustrating as other people could be using the facilities. Considering what we pay surely this can be better managed

Fantastic experience: Personally I think some of the recent reviews are a bit hasty, very little of the equipment is broke. The Hydro-Spa was broke but was repaired relevantly quick but in terms of Gym equipment I haven't seen a Broken Machine in a while. The gym equipment is majority Techno Gym which are really user friendly and are great for more experienced athletes. The pool is second to none and the staff are always friendly and welcoming and if you want to ask any questions to the trainers they are happy to help. Also any comments about Nuffield not supporting people who are overweight are simply untrue, I've seen personally the staff supporting people on there own accord and pushing them to reach their goals regardless if their fat or thin. Overall great Gym would recommend although Price is a little high but in the grand scheme of things worth it.

Positive experience: I can agree that it was better under previous owners but it's still good to work out here. I won't agree with people who say it's not for "fat" people and staff it's not friendly- that's just untrue. I don't have any problems exercising and all equipment was shown to me on induction day which you have to book or ask for. Yes some of the equipment was broken but it's fixed now and sauna and Jacuzzi is working fine. The only negative thing is that it's a bit expensive even with a student discount but because of my health and great pool in Nuffield I have no choice.
Negative experience: ***please be aware than single parents are no,oonger welcome at nuffield health unless your staff!!!!! - rude staff equipment broken - customers and staff leaving to go to hutton moor liesure centre - ***DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY****
Negative experience: Joined here a while back never felt comfortable being in the gym as it’s full of meat heads and couldntvever feel comfortable always felt out of place due to not being as slim or as muscly as I’ve wanted to be the support wasn’t helpful as it was like the staff never had time for a larger person. As for the pool that’s amazing but the steam room and sauna when they ever worked was nice also but very rarely were in operation. So I had no choice but to find a more friendly place to train and try and lose weight turns out that Anytime fitness in town near Nando’s is now the friendliest gym I have been to support from day one sign up was easy and cheaper and the customer service second to none would highly recommend to anyone who is a bit body conscious and need that’s little bit of understanding without being made to feel like a lazy fat lump. The staff are always kind and welcoming !

Negative experience: Gone downhill since Nuffield took over. Equipment always broken and takes ages to be repaired, this ranges from gym machines to the spa to the lift. Children’s swimming lessons don’t exactly create a relaxing environment for members, having children splashing and shouting when you are trying to have a leisurely swim is extremely annoying. Reception staff are nice but gym staff make no effort to help, assist or advise. No induction so never shown how to use any equipment so it’s purely guess work based on the pictures on the machines. Gym equipment very old and in desperate need of replacing. Changing rooms are old and run down, half the lockers don’t work. Cleaners start cleaning before the club closes and this includes spraying the changing rooms with cold water from a hose pipe, having a warm shower just for cold water to be sprayed under the cubicle on your feet isn’t fun.

Negative experience: I am quiet unhappy from cleaning service. In steam sauna and pool is realy bad smel and you feel sweating other people. Everything is sticky around. Did you ever use a mold killer or any anti bacteria cleanising? You shoul work out on it. I have never felt any of the fresh air so it is mean is dirty.

Negative experience: Gym area is great. But if you want to use sauna, steam room or spa pool don't bother. Part or all out of action for 6 weeks out of the last 7. Still won't be operating for another week. Just asked today for membership cancellation forms. Was great under previous ownership. Shame on Nuffield.

Negative experience: Spa constantly have some problem Sauna and now hydro spa not working today This is sub standard all maintainance should be carried out out of hours to maintain constant service the customers expect better!!

All poolside facilities are now back up and running. Fantastic experience: Good pool, well equipped gym, range of classes, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi but the stand out feature for me is the excellent staff- everyone from trainers to instructors to front desk to coffee shop servers couldn't be nicer or more helpful.

Positive experience: I only come here for the monthly quiz in the cafe, but the facilities look good and the place has a very relaxed atmosphere.

Positive experience: Great place for a workout which is obvious but the staff there are fantastic very friendly and helpful if you need any. Juice / snack bar is always quiet but that's great especially after a workout.

Fantastic experience: Great training facilities, 25 metre pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Staff are always ready to help and would recommend to anyone. Also it's the type of gym for all different levels of fitness and goals you are looking to achieve. You also won't feel out of place no matter what your shape or size.
Negative experience: I have only one complaint about Virgin Active Weston super Mare and that is the lack of training given to the cafe staff. none of whom seem to know how to make a cup of coffee, let alone a cup of Costa coffee; I've complained to the head office (via the now vanished) comments screens, spoken to the cafe manager (now no longer employed) I've even complained direct to Costa - nothing seems to have any effect on the coffee; now I pay more for an extra shot of coffee just to get a cup that resembles the ones I always get from a Costa cafe
Positive experience: Good gym with spa facilities, swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Went for a spa treatment which was great followed by a relax in the jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Staff are friendly and helpful. The eating are could do with more options and only had some very ordinary food on offer. Easy location to find with plenty of parking. They give you a lock and key for the lockers but bring a towel as they are not provided.
Fantastic experience: From start to finished it was great, really everyone should try here the staff are great nothing was not no trouble at all. it was not over crowded my friend and I had the best time Thank you to Helen (manager in treatment rooms) great service Thank you to Nicola in the Gym really lovely person showed us some great stuff. we will be back again.
