Riseholme College: Opinions
Fantastic experience: We were there for football. Great facilities in a nice setting.
Fantastic experience: Good facilities
Positive experience: Dunno about the colledge, but the gym staff are nice
Negative experience: Only rating 1 as I can't give 0. This college wasted 2 years of my life for a course full of lies. (our lecturers admitted we were lied to when applying) no matter what you do it's not good enough. I had 1 lecturer that treated me with respect and she left first chance she had. 2 more lecturers later I failed anyway because they all taught us the wrong stuff. transport wise busses are always late. Food is insanely expensive and student services are only good to you if you're not complaining. They do nothing about bullying and absolutely nothing about mental health (except of course chuck you in a room with a "therapist" that would rather talk about her kids than your issues) and to top it off they sent me a after college survey to fill out where some questions require you to put in an answer but of course you can't choose anything negative so to move on you have to lie. (Abit like the college does) DO NOT GO HERE!!
Fantastic experience: Basic gym but I can relate only for badminton courts which are top quality. However, the building is brand new.
Negative experience: Full of lies
Negative experience: Awful
Negative experience: the college is unorganized a full of lies anything they promise you is false it costs a fortune if you want to eat food from the canteen and the teaching staff care more about reputation than teaching. if your doing poorly they berate you yet do nothing to help. avoid this college whenever possible. many of my mates wanna drop out and only stay cause they don't want to leave their mates behind. if you leave campus you get in trouble teaching is sub par at best and resources are minimal. teachers are gender discriminate and many of the male lecturers and a lot of the female lecturers will treat the girls way better then the boys. for a college that advertises on its sports facilities its got a terrible gym a sports hall you can find in any secondary school and some primary schools in England. the AstroTurf is almost always used by the football lads and rarely used for other students. the only sociable thing to do in college is smoke cigarettes and there a virtually no clubs. the buses are always overcrowded trips are minimal and the college laptops take 10 minutes to load. at times it feels more like a prison than a college. if you want to come here then good luck trying to keep you sanity. 2 years here and i wish id never come .
Negative experience: Definitely wouldn't recommend this college to anyone in fact a Don't Come Here Sign should be placed outside of the building as the teaching is dreary and very drippy, weird staff and they don't know it, no one can take banter and is extremely woke, unplanned and unorganised assignments. All I can say is Riseholme should be avoided like the plague.
Fantastic experience: Great place to be beautiful buildings
Fantastic experience: Great multi-functional venue - very welcoming
Fantastic experience: This is a wonderful collage new experience for my grandson he was very excited after is first day
Fantastic experience: Staff and students are fantastic. Managing to follow one way system.
Negative experience: The new rules of COVID are horrific
Fantastic experience: Amazing place. Great animal care values. Awesome staff.
Positive experience: Nice lake. And ace cafe, reasonable prices. Started a group walk from here and finished at the cafe.
Positive experience: Nice setting for studying
Fantastic experience: A pleasant park with verdant views.
Positive experience: I am really grateful for what I learned and you do learn and am so grateful for what I got from working so hard. Great qualification to have (animal management) as it gives insights into different subject areas. Sadly, the let down is the organisation of this college, needs to be worked on.
Negative experience: nothing that us students say to the people that try to make this college better gets heard, we suggest things such as sports and more entertainment but nothing gets taken in, all they are bothered about is image.
Fantastic experience: They used to be some good carp that reside in the loverly looking lake that is situated on site.. unfortunately not so many of them are alive today due to the so called cute furry otters.. And another place is in the process of being raped and ruined by the otter and nothing will or can be done about it.. Shocking to say the least
Negative experience: Promised a decent education. Instead I experienced unplanned assignments, The college as a whole is unorganized (e.g Never get given plans until a few days before if we are lucky. Most likely due to not even being planned in the first place. We aren't notified when teachers are off. And similar issues. The technological side of the college is awful with the internet constantly failing and nearly non-existent within accommodation. The staff are untrained in many uses with computers however on one of the small upsides are well educated and experienced in the subjects they teach. That's if you get past the uptight attitude *cough cou-hayley cough sims* (Some teachers are great however) While the canteen food is decent the prices are out of order for the low quality food that is provided. Half of the college is locked off to only HE students so if you aren't doing a higher education course unlike myself i wouldn't bother attending. If you want a decent agricultural experience i would recommend Bishops, Not this sorry counterpart
Negative experience: Not to be snobby or enything but all the teacher's will know who I am and I might get in trouble I don't know but some of the teacher's were nice about this situation So I am currently attending this collige and I wish I dident since thear is heart desese in my family I started to have heart palpitations and feeling really sick my freind was helping me stand and walked me to the office when I told her my heart was beating extreamly fast and I was pail and sight was blury I told her this and she told me to sit down for a while so I did with a drink of water My angziaty started to kick in and I felt it getting worse my whole body was now all fuzzy and I thaught no this is stupid it's not helping so by freind helped me up the stairs to see my corse maniger I told her how I was feeling and she looked worried and sed she was going to get the first aider. It was the lady at the office that told me to sit down she looked like she had better things to do and fed up. I want on to tell her that heart desese runs in the family and all of my ancestors have died from it. She dident look botherd but calld my mum. She asked if my mum wanted to come see if I was ok my mum told her to call a first responder the first aider asked if my mum wanted to come first and then see if I needed a first responder (I live an hour away from the collige) mum sed no just call the first responder. After the phonecall my freind helped me downstairs and she calld the first responder to come she dident seem to botherd and told him my symptoms and he asked me a few questions. As my vishon started to decrees I felt like I was starting to loose consciousness bidding off in my cheat creating heavily my whole body was fuzzy and all i could feel was the each on my cheast my hearing sounded muffled like I was under water and 2 teachers tried to keep talking to me so I wouldent fall asleep since I got extreamly tierd and faint They helped me to the loo a few times but held the door shut since they dident want me locking it. When the first responder came he sed I was haveing heart palpitations and had a panick attack to because of them. I can't remember mutch of what he did but I was wierd up to a misheane and he pricked my finger and stuff but what really gets me is If that was somone else with a bigger problem and dident have the energy to go see the corse maniger what could of happend to them Some of the staff really helped me like my corse maniger and the 2 teachers but the first aider she dident even try to calm me down The only thing she did was call the first responder I was really tierd when I got home and want strate to sleep but comon is it not common dance when somones heart is beading extreamly fast they r getting Paul loising consciousness and so on to at least call a first responder not thear mum? Really? the food is really expensive to a bottom of water and a pre made sandwige you ushally get from Tesco home brand or something uses my £5 food money it's really bad
Negative experience: Awful college. Absolute waste of time. Don't come here expecting to learn any practical skills that are relevant in the industry that you want to be in. Eating here can cost you £10 a day if you're not careful. They only care about their image and any stain on it is swept under the rug. Everything seems to be about money rather than education.
Negative experience: If you get bullied and report it, nothings done, went here several years ago and the college dont care about how the students are they just care about the image of the college, example grades and pass rates, not student satisfaction of treatment for anything they need to report like bullying, and i have had many times when one person on the course i did was off the other was actually alright and i respected him as he was clearly not the cause, which meant we got on well, and when i was in ifp course during school i got bullied then and reported it, nothing gets done until someone actually is injured or that there is a body to bury, which by then its usually too late and the place would be closed for lack of student care just to deal with the image, no wonder its not got many buses to and from it, stagecoach know if you dont wanna go because of bullying they wont force you nor will the college as its a really bad place to learn
Negative experience: Possibly the worst College ever. My child has been bullied at this College and when the College have been asked what steps have been taken to ensure safeguarding - no answers have been forthcoming. Not condusive to promote safe learning Riseholme is it?
Negative experience: I wouldn't send anyone there even if I was paid to do so. Low standards. No compassion. All they care about is public image not the students, trying to sweep any negativity under the rug.
