Negative experience: I really like the gym classes, trainers are really nice too but most classes I go to are extremely overbooked - I think staff don’t check who actually booked a class and who just randomly goes to a class. I had to leave today as even though I booked a spot in GLC there was absolutely no space left for me . This has happened a few times where far too many people are allowed in classes which makes me feel uncomfortable as there is not enough space to do the exercises properly Hope that an attendance check can be done before the class to access who has booked a class and who hasn’t as it seems a bit unfair on people who actually booked a class to not have enough space to do that class

Negative experience: This gym is terrible for strength training. The weight section is cramped, always messy, and people are practically on top of each other, which is not only annoying, but a safety hazard. I’ve seen people giving similar feedback in other reviews and getting a templated response in return, but nothing seems to change. Avoid if you can.

Negative experience: This gym price is more expensive compared to others and yet it’s a small gym with few equipment. The other gym with less price is bigger with more equipment.

Positive experience: The Bow Wharf PureGym does the job for me, as I pretty much just use a few of the cardio machines. However, there isn’t a lot of room if you want to stretch or workout using the free weights. They have a good selection of classes and the team there are helpful.

Positive experience: Please can we get a hack squat machine in this gym??? We only have one proper squat rack and one leg press, heck I'd happily pay another £10 a month just to get a hack squat in this gym. There's SO MANY cardio machines that are hardly ever full up (I come here 6 days a week at peak times and the cycle/treadmill section always has empty spots) like please, consider getting a hack squat at some point? It would also be nice to have an updated smith machine that can go LOWER and at more natural angles (you see the new type of smith machines all over YouTube now) this one is really outdated where you can’t perform certain lifts cos the stoppers are in the way and it only goes in a straight path. For £40 a month with how tiny this gym is, they need to invest in better/modern equipment and more strength equipment.

Positive experience: This gym has the potential to be 5 stars, but the maintenance of equipment and organization of weights could use improvement. While the staff does it best, some members don’t do their part in putting weights back where they belong, which affects the overall experience. If more members were mindful and followed the gym’s rules, it would make the environment much better for everyone.
Fantastic experience: I just want to give a shout out to Erisa and Nana for being the best gym managers. Always available for a chat, respond to feedback and deliver the toughest group classes!!! They also manage an exceptional team, the best instructors we have had in a long time. It feels great to go workout in this gym especially when everyone is so welcoming, happy and encouraging. They challenge your fitness abilities whilst making exercising fun. We really are a community at PureGym Bow Wharf and I am proud to call this place my gym. Well done team and keep up the great work!!!
Fantastic experience: Just completed my first visit and class at Pure Gym Bow Wharf. Great facilities and perfect size for a medium gym. Amin was very welcoming and knowledgable. For me as a beginner his classes were perfect. I would recommend anyone go to Amins classes. Thanks Amin!
Positive experience: Entire layout of the gym needs rethinking. Biggest concern areas being duplicate warming/functional areas upstairs by (the far too many) bikes, and downstairs where it takes up what could be used to alleviate the tiny bench/dumbbell area by the stairs. Whole space is just really poorly conceived. Cleanliness is reasonable. PTs are not invasive or pushy. Location is good , and parking is free. Just a terrible layout.
Positive experience: Good equipment, small and quaint, but cosy. Only downside is the lift has been out of order for months now. Could have the gym restock tissues more often as well. 4 Stars.
Positive experience: Too small, more expensive and some equipment are worn down! It's my first time here as has recently moved around the area. The Bow branch is one of the closest gyms I have , fortunately I managed to give it a try before committing. I like the natural light the gym has with its lovely industrial feel. The downside is some weights are dented and sharp and the ropes are very worn down. Come on. Why pay 5 gbp more for worn out equipment and relatively smaller compared to lets same my main gym in Shoreditch.. Shame.
Negative experience: Filthy place. No wonder, thy have to start paying their staff a decent money. The PTs are overworked yet work there for free. I don't blame them. I blame the greedy upper management and CEO.
Negative experience: Pure filth, that should be the name of this place. It’s sad to see how it’s only got worse in the last two years. Everything is just dirty, sticky and dusty. I’m yet to see a member of staff cleaning a piece of equipment, toilets are of course also disgusting. No ventilation or aircon upstairs so it feels uncomfortably damp. The cleaning stations with blue roll lack of spray bottles, soap dispenser in toilets are empty. They’re lucky there’s a lack of gyms in the area.

Negative experience: Had night shift so I thought I'll finish my workout, have a nice shower in the gym and then go to work. Brought my favorite shower gel. The shower Automatically stopped 3 times and the third time it stopped the water never came back. Waited for an hour, became late for work and ultimately had to wipe the damn soap from my face and body with my towel. The first 30 seconds when the water was coming it was cold and I had to be there with with no water, soap all over me, shivering. I am really sick right now because of how cold I felt that night and don't know what to do right now. I am so pissed

Negative experience: Although am a member of this gym for a long time, i was issued an unfair parking charge and free parking is allocated to all gym members. When I requested from pure gym to resolve this false parking charge they refused and were not interested in cooperating. Customer Service of pure gym is poor to say the least.
Negative experience: I've visited various branches in PureGym now. Bow wharf is the smallest branch in a pure gym in size, equipment and changing rooms in London. The worst are the changing room with 3 cubes with toilet and shower inside but usually only 2 operates for a whole gym including men and women. It's a unisex changing room for both open and camera to spy on the customers. There's no privacy in the changing room because there's always a camera above your head so no chance to change clothes without privacy. Most of the people I spoke to wouldn't join the gym due the toilets privacy and no space. I would recommend the upper management to review it and possibly expand it or find a way to improve. All the PureGym in London have no cameras in the changing room but bow wharf is the only one in the company that takes this privacy away. If you see in the camera 80%-90% of the customers in bow wharf don't take showers in the gym due to a limited space and privacy. The Gym Manager always says to everyone please check the app to see how many customers are in before you come so you can go when there's less people, that's not the right answer or excuse when the truth almost 90% of the customers can't take showers or have privacy and I believe the managing director Mr H Cobbold should review it properly.
Positive experience: Decent local gym, nice selection of weights, quite busy at most times,
Positive experience: Friendly staff but the toilets are often so dirty! Disappointing.
Negative experience: No Changing room. Mixed.
Negative experience: Always cold, it’s December with minus degrees outside and the whole gym has single glazed windows as it’s an old brewery. The aircon is on full blast in the weight areas, I ask the manager to turn up the heat and the reply is “you’ll get warm when you start working out”, which means you have to wear multiple layers when working out and I don’t want to stay and stretch as I’m likely to pull a muscle.
Negative experience: I had a long term membership with PureGym before joining this gym,but I found this gym is way too small and lacks of the equipment so I only went in for 20 minutes and left and requested a full refund for my membership and subscription and decided to go to another gym which is nearby. I paid 49.99 and they refunded me only 14 within a week which broke their term and policy.
Positive experience: A nice gym in bow close to Victoria Park.

Negative experience: Compared to pure gym bermondsey, maybe a 2. A Really small place with a few machines but more expensive than those bigger ones.
Negative experience: I’ve been going to puregym since May 2022 and have always talked about what a positive experience I’ve had. I’ve been to over 20 around the country as I’m always travelling with my job, this has to be the worst. I pay £43.99 for a central London subscription (home gym Angel) so naturally I thought this would be included, being in zone 2. Wrong. Get there and I have to add £6 to my monthly subscription to even go in. But I’m there now. £6 extra for a gym that doesn’t even have separate male and female changing rooms!? Two lockable cubicles only. Still I press on, just get my workout done. It was 12:30 midday so obviously the ideal time for the cleaner to be walking around mopping the main gym floor with the strongest bleach ever. I have asthma triggered by chemicals so had to leave. Worst experience ever. It’s making me think of cancelling my puregym membership altogether and finding a gym which might actually consider the health and access needs of their members.
Negative experience: This gym should seek to improve their disability access. In the 6 months I’ve been going to this gym the lift has been out of order. The the space between equipment is too narrow for many wheelchairs. The disabled toilet is upstairs also so again, can’t even it. In the disabled toilet the soap dispenser is above standing head height, how is someone in a wheelchair (what it claims to be designed for) supposed to reach this? I am not disabled so this probably isn’t the full extent of the issues with accessibility. On top of this issue this gym is massively oversubscribed and super small, with equipment in need of replacing. It’s always very busy as a result and not a peaceful experience.
Positive experience: Kinda cramped ok gym has a calf machine which is nice for a commercial gym

Positive experience: Nice gym, good location, parking availability, quiet usually, Just a lack of equipment, I can understand it’s a small gym and that’s why, but when it does get busy it’s quite hard to get your machine.
Fantastic experience: Very well maintained and friendly trainers. Manager Erisa is doing her best to keep the Gym clean and tidy for us to workout. Whenever she comes she puts everything in its proper place. It's very annoying to see some people don't respect the weights they use and not put it back in its place.
Positive experience: A slightly cramped Pure Gym, with one of each of most weight based equipment but plenty of cardio stations. There are wipes available to clean up equipment, and it’s open 24-7 with week or day passes (which are steep but useful) for non members.
Negative experience: you can’t have no assistance at the gym
Fantastic experience: The classes in this gym are amazing special the ones with Christina. She is the best!
Positive experience: The gym is okay. It's very small and gets crowded very quickly and easily. If you're looking for a quick workout then worth a shot but if you're looking for a lengthy workout somewhere spacious then maybe try somewhere else. If possible maybe avoid getting a shower here. It's a men/ women shared space and if they're all in use, you're left waiting outside with others walking through so I'd recommend going home to shower. They have a good range of classes though & staff/ PTs are generally very nice
Negative experience: Fined multiple times for using the car park. Contacted Pure Gym for help and guidance and was brushed off. Wont be returning here again. Many better gyms locally.
Positive experience: Ah I live in London so I’m used to being ripped off. It’s fine… the members are nice and the machines work but there’s nothing here done particularly well. A gym in the basement with no natural light makes running on a moving platform as dystopian as it should be.
Positive experience: Decent gym to go to as it’s open 24/7 for 7 days a week, it has a good workout community and good facilities, however can get quite packed at certain points of the day and might not be enough lockers for the amount of people there, nevertheless it’s a very good gym for people who are getting into fitness however the price is a bit high for the services provided.
Negative experience: This is a hole not a gym, the changing rooms are a joke, machines are ok, don’t waste your money in this place, check the reviews all of them are true
Positive experience: I really like being a member at this location though I only do classes so can't relate to the frustrations in other reviews re: busy gym floors or equipment availability. I do a lot of lunchtime classes though and when I walk through a lot seems available. The classes are challenging and good fun with lovely instructors. Pump and circuits are my favourites and I encourage everyone to give a few classes a try! Get told what to do then go home is my style of work out. I've been going here a few times a week on average for just over a year and still look forward to going. The class attendees are great too and it's been nice going to gym socials. One thing I would ask is that off-peak membership hours go back to including weekday lunchtimes. A friend recently changed from off-peak to peak, then back to off-peak and she's been blocked for classes between something like 11am-1.30pm (when most of the best ones currently take place). They were previously included in off-peak and the price hasn't decreased, so please add those hours back! Thanks! :)

Positive experience: Good gym, just a shame about parking
Negative experience: Machines are ok, but all the rest of facilities do need an overhaul on maintenance (toilettes only 1 out of 4 working, showers none working, changing room sometimes fully closed, the only elevator not working). Negative experience: I have gone here for 1 year and wont be renewing for several reasons. - Overcrowded - Lack of popular equipment - Car park uses predatory private company with ANPR cameras. Received a £60 ticket for a 43 minute gym session. Puregym refuses to get involved or support any claims. - Ultimately the gym experience and service was so poor, I just didn't use the facilities. There is better options, don't waste your time here.

Negative experience: Maybe it’s would be a good idea you also improve the information provided on the website prior the person register to join the Gym. It would be very helpful telling people that the gym is busy during sometimes of the day. The day I went to visit during (working hours) the door was closed and there was no staff available at the gym to give me information. However I registered online believing I was doing the right thing. Don’t waste your money in this place.. it’s always busy and there are no equipments enough to supply the quantity of people current workout here.

Negative experience: running machines far too old and worn out lots of them are broken. they all need replacing urgently. they pre-date pure gym by many years (must be well over 10 years old now).

Negative experience: Visited once and I'm already cancelling my membership. Insanely busy and very little space. Couldn't find any staff to help me on my first visit.

Negative experience: when joined, they said free car park, I was not told I have to register every day on their computer, there is only a small note inside the GYM, no Emails, no Information, no phone call. After 10 days received 10 Emails receiving 10 individual penalty charge that come to over £1500. The car park company are obviously thugs and rip offs but PURE GYM is not taking responsibility nor they care or do any actions to stop their customers been bullied around. I cancelled my contract with them and I dont recommend PURE GYM as they are joining the parking rip off company to bully people and rip them off.

I've checked the branch website and it explains "There is limited parking directly outside the gym. To avoid parking fines, please make sure you enter your car registration in the iPad at the top of the staircase. Please check in the car park for any additional instructions before you enter the gym." It is the case that we do not own the car park so do not hand out the fines/profit from them. We can help cancel fines by providing your attend log if you get in touch with us or you can use your attend log from your Members' Area to appeal as per the routes listed in the emails from the parking company. Positive experience: PureGym did a good job opening up the space during the remodel in 2018 but with all the wasted space much of it was lost. There's a shortage of benches and only half the squat racks are available on the ground floor. This also leaves only 3 stretching / floor work spaces on the upper floor which gets a line of people waiting during peak hours. Meanwhile there are 4 large wind cycle machines which are almost never used and 10 normal stationary bikes on the upper floor of which at most 2 get used during peak hours. But it takes up a whole room, and they’re even rarely used during the free classes, ridiculous. During covid we weren’t permitted to push them out of the way as we normally do, so there's often no space for floor based work. It seems they could’ve fit an extra shower/restroom as well. Given the limited space, this gym should focus on what people actually want.

Positive experience: The equipment's they have are good, however due to its small size you are limited. For instance there isn't any male/female changing rooms, but they do have closed showers and toilets so you do have privacy getting changed etc. The free weight section is far too small, only limited to 3 people (3 benches) so you will most definitely have to be waiting until there's space. On the plus note, they do have most equipments you'd find in other PureGym and the equipments are top quality. For example, the treadmill being touchscreen. You can tell this gym has invested more on better equipments to make up for its small size. You get free car parking as well as long as you enter your reg number when you come inside.

Positive experience: I have multisite access to PureGym and this location has pros and cons. Pros: conevientent location, free parking, good quality equipment. Cons: fairly small, not a large variety of equipment. I go here during off peak hours, otherwise I imagine it would feel very busy considering it's very small.

Fantastic experience: Very good gym
Negative experience: This gym has taken out the membership fee of my husband while his membership was still being frozen because he had Covid19. My husband contacted them about this but they refused to reimburse the money. While other companies are being much more lenient amidts the pandemic, this company did the complete opposite. Never ever join this gym!

Positive experience: Pretty solid gym as far as pure gyms go, very bright and they have everything you need
Positive experience: The gym has been completely refurbished, I would say within the last year, with top-of-the-line Puregym kit, all straight out of the box, and not a scratch on any of it. It only has one issue really, which is size, being one of the smallest I've been in, it's split over 2 floors as seems common, but the class areas are small, and there's not even enough room for separate changing rooms, so they're shared, with individual shower rooms, which to be fair, is smart use of real-estate, as is a sensible amount of cardio kit for the space available. Quality over quantity, it scores lower for variety of kit than some, and only really worth the extra cost whilst not so many people are turning out, during the crisis.

Staff do regular cleaning checks in the gym and we have dedicated cleaning teams who come each night to carry out and comply with internal and external audits. Of course, during peak times it can be difficult for us to compete all cleaning routines, however as soon as it is possible our staff will complete all procedures and checks. If you have concerns with the cleanliness in your gym we can check the cleaning rotas and ensure all procedures are being followed. Negative experience: The business model of this gym is purely profit maximisation at the expense of clients. The changing facilities are laughable, built out of exposed and unhygienic (unsealed) particle board that can absorb plenty of bacteria and cannot be wiped down. Changing facilities are completely inadequate and an insult to clients. Every time I have been there, the gym was staffed by one person only and they were preoccupied with running classes. I have no idea what would happen if a health and safety issue developed. The staff I have encountered are good and dedicated, but they are also victims of this ruthless and shameless business model. This ruthless and shameless culture pervades everything at the gym and makes going there depressing and annoying. I joined because it’s a 4 minute jog from my house, but I’ll certainly be leaving and cancelling my membership. I would give zero stars if I could. To the management: read the reviews on here, see what the consistently raised problems are and do something about them instead of giving vacuous responses to complaints. (update after management response: I don't want a fitness induction; I want you to build changing facilities that are not made of exposed, unhygienic particle board, and I want you to staff the gym properly so that stressed fitness instructors do not have to attend to general issues in the gym while trying to teach classes; but I know neither of these things will be done, because all your business cares about is profit, not client hygiene and safety, that is why I am leaving; read all the other reviews on here; most of them say the same thing).

Staff do undertake regular cleaning checks and we have dedicated cleaning teams come each night to carry out and comply with internal and external audits. But we can of course check the cleaning rotas so if you let the Gym Manager know when you’ve visited they can properly investigate. There are always personal trainers in the gym between 6am and 10pm, but especially at peak times they are often occupied with classes or clients. However, if one is available they will always be happy to help. If they're not immediately visible, you can try knocking on the office door or pressing the button to call for assistance. On top if this, you can always book an induction through the online members area, particularly if you want tips for certain fitness goals. In the meantime, I really do hope this does not put you off from attending the gym.
Negative experience: Deliberately misleading prices. The prices advertised do not actually exist. Off peak membership is an insult (9pm- 5.30am!!). Accidentally bought 30 passes but they have to used consecutively. Currently been hold for ten mins trying to get my money back. Typical lying and price gouging scum.
