Telford College: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Fantastic done my hgv course with them Fantastic opportunity
Fantastic experience: Great place
Negative experience: Went to this college for two years, (2021 - 2023) completing A-Levels & at least once each day I contemplated dropping out of my courses, despite having a passion for one of them for 10 years... not for the course content, but for the lack of organisation, continuity and management found within 7th form. Over the two years, I had over 15 teachers teach me (many of which were not specialist) for my three courses, no teacher stayed for more than a month (not until later on in the second year), which nurtured a genuine sense of abandonment amongst myself and peers. Raise a concern? Voice your worries assertively? Very little, if anything at all, will be done about it. There may be a high chance that you'll be called "dramatic" and "crazy" by management, escalate it to their inline manager, no point. Nothing will be done either, said person may even attempt to deny such gaslighting.. It's actually shocking looking back now how much gaslighting they have and are getting away with. My best advice, is if you're living local and are contemplating doing A-LEVELS at Telford College, DON'T - not until there is some sufficient DECENT change to management. By going to this college within this current environment and workplace, expect general concerns to be brushed under the carpet; with the risk of gaslighting if you challenge it, indirect comments made from higher up, horror stories about how your friends have been verbally treated and even comments made by your tutors regarding management!!!! NOT a truly professional environment by any means, steer clear where you can. I would have given anything to have gone to Shrewsbury College instead. I have however, heard the other courses are alright, so just keep this in mind if you're after vocational courses & degrees etc. I also have full respect to some of my teachers over the 2 years, some of them were very professional and only wanted to help see the courses through to the end; so I thank you. I believe this college has room for change, but it starts from the ground up. I heavily suggest starting with the 7th form. I appreciate that some reviews can be bias, but I advise you read the 'Indeed reviews' for employee's working at Telford College so that you can gain an insight into how the staff themself feel about working at college.
Thank you for taking the time to share your view, we’re sorry to hear you had a negative experience whilst studying with us. We value the feedback of our students and have taken steps to improve our service and the consistency within the teaching team.
Fantastic experience: I studied here 2011(Level 2 Art & Design ) and in 2012 (Level 3 Art, Design and Media). At that time it was amazing. The staff were amazing, good facilities. Teachers were all knowledgeable and helpful. I managed to get a place at University of the Arts London after attending Telford College.
Positive experience: Just finished my second year, easy to navigate once you get use to it, horrible environment what with eveyone being rude and disrespectful, not to mention some of the teachers are just plain rude. The food is also mank.
Negative experience: Absolute shambles of communication and organisation. I wouldn't give one star if I had a choice. I attended a HGV assessment course on 9/5, staff member leading the assessment was half hour late. He said he'd not been told to attend Erdington job centre until too late to get there on time. He called a register and most names weren't present and some names including mine weren't called. After completing the assessment he contacted the college and informed all present to attend training on Monday at noon. On arriving at the training course at the correct time and place I find not only is the course leader half an hour late, but again my name is not on the list. On contacting the college I was informed there's only 16 places available and the attendees were chosen at random and my training was due to start on the 3/6. This course is funded by the tax payer and is very important to some of the attendees, it's a pity that Telford college seem very blasé in their attitude to this .
Fantastic experience: I completed a class 2 driving course with Telford college and i must say i was impressed the tutor was natural. Ppl at the office lovely and a genuine concern right uptill the moment i started work. Keep up the good work n God bless u all.
Negative experience: Extremely poor standard of education delivery and facilities.
Fantastic experience: Salute for Arran challington & Malcolm from HGV course
Fantastic experience: Big shout out for Joe Hodgkiss! I had to redo my English exam as I missed my exam and have had the absolute pleasure of working with Joe who has been so incredibly helpful in helping me prepare for exams. Usually I find teachers to be a bit difficult to listen to out of lack of expression and sometimes understanding on my part, but Joe has been so wonderful and creative in all of their lessons and I feel confident in my abilities as a student in what I'm doing. Regardless of my upcoming results, a massive thank you to you Joe in keeping me calm and level headed.
Negative experience: It was soo bad especially the principal
Negative experience: The staff need to get an education themselves.
Negative experience: Waste of time, getting ignored at every step, no help from customer service when asking about something more than they can reply with simple copy->paste message.
Fantastic experience: Had a good couple of days learning. Shame there's no air conditioning or drinks in the class rooms.
Negative experience: I would like to express my dissatisfaction with the institution in question and caution others against considering it. The teaching staff exhibit a concerning lack of commitment as they frequently depart without notice, resulting in a lack of educational instruction. The institution appears to lack coherence as we receive inconsistent information from various tutors and our submitted work often goes unmarked, resulting in undue hardship. I must express my concern regarding the college's inadequate support for obtaining work experience. The institution simply releases us into the world and expects us to secure placements without providing any form of assistance. This approach is particularly distressing given the current competitive job market, and I urge the college to review and improve their approach to supporting students in this regard. I strongly advise seeking an alternative option if feasible, as the current situation at this institution appears untenable. Even being taught remotely from home would be preferable. Wishing you the best, and may your journey be blessed.
Fantastic experience: Went to The Retreat for a wash, trim, blow and style. Very happy with the service.
Positive experience: I used to love the college in my first year straight after covid had hit but it declined during my second year with multiple teachers leaving within the space of a few months at a time which deeply disrupted everyone’s learning. We had 3 psychology teachers in the space of second year whom all was fired or quit for various reasons. The college isn’t too bad in itself, great environment and some teachers are simply amazing and will definitely help you but with the lack of consistency it did make the experience towards the end poor and ultimately frustrating with teachers not taking it seriously when these feelings were expressed.
Negative experience: My teachers were ok. studied here for 2 years. But had hardly any support especially when it came to my mental health within the college, safeguarding team were appalling with support and the finance team were pure rude when i tried sorting out grants etc. ended up having to drop out because I did not have a good experience. I don't even think the teachers enjoy working there half the time and you can tell. I also know people who have been bullied or beaten up on the grounds and the way the college deal with it all is shocking. Try to cover it all up to make them look good. My advice? Go to shrewsbury or wolverhampton college instead. better than this lousy excuse of a education facility.
Fantastic experience: The staff are friendly, good facilities, the college treats you like an adult, there are lots of enrichment programmes, you become more independent and gain confidence.
Negative experience: Really not happy with this college at the moment and a particular staff member who's very unhelpful, and not very pleasant at all. So far I'm ruling out returning in September. Please help. Thank you

Negative experience: The Maths department at Telford College are terrible and inadequate. I am not publicly disclosing which student I am or have been so therefore using this private account. I would give the Maths department 0 stars if I could. Also, I have found out the Maths department have breached safeguarding regulations in the UK because one time they told me I can sit an exam with a bunch of grown ups in an adult sitting and I'm a minor under the age of 18 so said no because I don't think that is right. I certainly feel more comfortable sitting exams with young people and not with a bunch of grown adults who have not been DBI checked by the college. For all I know I could be sitting in a room with a dangerous individual who's taking his exam. What are the college's management team going to do with this department moving forward? Because I'm not even the only one who has had a bad experience with the Maths team at Telford College. This clearly should be a focus department the college should be looking at improving. On a positive note the English department is one of the best in my opinion. I also have a great GCSE English grade. It shouldn't be one department doing better than the other. Thanks for the lack of support and for letting me down Telford College Maths department. P.S anyone else who has had or is having a bad experience with the Maths team in what ever way at this college don't worry it's not the end of the world. Never give up :)
Hello, we take reviews very seriously and we would like to find out more. We invite you to contact us via [email protected], or call 01952 642237 to discuss your concerns.
Negative experience: Awful college. Lack of support and you can tell some teachers aren’t qualified due to their complete lack of professionalism and rudeness. One teacher specifically had the police and the principal informed about their behaviour as it was appalling. Would highly recommend anyone to stay away from this college!

Negative experience: Awful college. Lack of support. Rude teachers.

Fantastic experience: I've studied at Telford College for one year, and I think it was one of the best decision I took! I learned a loot throughout my time spent there, and the support from the staff members was always really helpful.
Thanks Armando, you've always been a college ambassador.
Fantastic experience: Went there for 2 years! Great college
Thanks Scott, we appreciate your review
Negative experience: If I could turn back time I'd go to Shrewsbury college 100%. Doesn't seem to be any structure to this college. Staff have been lovely to deal with but lacking coordination. One person says ask for assignments to be filled out and will provide another set of assignments on the next appointment. Another assessor then says "this is what you need to do for the year, some bullet points will only require a decent paragraph." There's a funky website I've been told to use and I've been shown how to use it but it's awful.
Fantastic experience: I loved it there when I went there and my daughter gos there as well
Thank you Sally, hope you're well
Positive experience: My brother went their. Isn't bad but I find the selection of language course is just sad.
Negative experience: Don’t go would not recommend
Would you like to discuss your concerns? [email protected]
Negative experience: Absolutely shocking. There's one member of staff in particular who "helps" transfer students to other courses. When a student actually has a plan and knows what they want to do, she decides to insult you. Shame I don't have any decision to quit college, I really regret choosing Telford College.
Hi Liam, sorry you posted us a poor review, would you be willing to discuss it? [email protected]
Negative experience: This college is awful
Negative experience: Sent in a complaint, Still no response. They're discontinuing my course next year so why should they care about us? They say to us that we are going to have a work space and its all planned out, Nothing, not even an explanation. If you are interested whatsoever in something that requires the college to support you then id turn around here.
Fantastic experience: Since I go there to see a wide range of courses around college. I think that it would be nice to help people with their future and help out in the student council. Even though they don’t do any singing lessons it makes me want to fail my dreams of becoming famous just for once. One day I want to start a music career so that I can get inspired to work with famous people
Negative experience: When I atteded TCAT I wanted to go on to level 2 hair dressing, unfortunately they wouldn’t allow me because in their words ‘I wouldn’t be able to cope with the work’ I’m sorry but colleges are meant to support you, & push you even if failed some units I could have always retook them to get the qualification I wanted. TCAT also have put my friends little brother on the wrong course, a course he didn’t want to go on. It’s still being sorted with now & doesn’t seem to be improving. TCAT will be recieving only one star from me by my expiericance attending, it may be better & a lot more successful for others but I have mild autism & felt as if it was a dig at that. It’s probably changed since 2 years ago but I will never go back to that college & if my future children ever want to attend I won’t give up & will never let them do to them what they did to me if anything I will make it as a complaint if nothing changes then it will go further.
Fantastic experience: Very nice college
Positive experience: I only use the 4g super dome and it's boiling in the summer freezing in the winter maybe better ventilation would be greatly appreciated and cleaned once in a while
Negative experience: I was withdrawn without giving my reason and when it comes to talking in person about it nobody wants to listen appalling!
Negative experience: Appalling place, they haven't got a clue on customer service. Courses are in adequately run, when staff are off sick, they may of well put the cleaner in the class rooms. ( no disrespect to a cleaner ) As the covering person hasn't got a clue as to whats happening during the course. This College has gone down hill a lot over the years.
Negative experience: It's a amazing place if you shut up and take everything that is shoved your way if no complaint!! Would only suggest this as a last resort!
Good afternoon Emily, we are working very hard to improve the service we offer to all of our students and we have had recognition by Ofsted that our standards are continuously improving. We hope you can consider studying with us again sometime in the future. Please contact us on [email protected] for us to support you with any follow up to your review. Kind regards, Andy
Negative experience: Don't recommend
Fantastic experience: Hey, that's pretty goood ☺
Positive experience: Very good sports complex.
Fantastic experience: Amazing place to learn
Positive experience: Friendly reception staff. Took an industry standard test at the Pearson VUE centre - room was ok, staff friendly.
Fantastic experience: From UAE 2011 students love everything
Fantastic experience: Best
