PureGym Spalding

Positive experience: Decent variety of equipment, good selection. Staff seem friendly and welcoming. The bathrooms however are not kept clean, they smell awful and are extremely off putting. Would appreciate if they were separate for ladies and gents. the gym is quite small compared to Peterborough pure gyms as well.

Fantastic experience: Small but very clean gym. Good amount of equipment and rarely had to wait for anything.

Negative experience: 1 shower is pretty disgusting for a gym and the door that barely works at the front is awful

Fantastic experience: I moved across to Spalding puregym when it opened from another gym, due to medical issues with my Daughter, taken me a while to settle due to anxiety, but the staff are great and will answer any issues you may have.

Fantastic experience: The place is nice and the staff are friendly and helpful. The place has quite a good selection of equipment and the place is nice and clean. The phone app is good and I like the way I can book activities and I can see the busy and quiet times.

Negative experience: Staff is rude i had a issue with my membership plus and they wasn’t bothered to come and see me i was waiting 20 min at the gate and they haven’t done anything my girlfriend was inside asking for help and staff was ignoring her.

Fantastic experience: I knew exactly what this gym was when I signed up - it was going into a small unit space and was never going to be the size of a castle. I have been anytime between 6am and 10pm, weekdays and weekends and never struggled to get in or do what I need. The guys are girls are great, classes are fun and always a welcome atmosphere! Yes its small compared to giant PureGym's, yes there are only 2 showers - but there has never been an issue with access to any facilities!

Positive experience: Only just joined, but after some research into the six others in/around Spalding the idea of £18 a month until March 25, 24-hour use and spacious areas are appealing. To me worth the joining fee for what's available from their app, too.

Negative experience: first of all….not letting go free for a first time…cost 9£ for sesh(disappointing) to make a payment need go through web and do a card payment which doesn’t even allow make quick payment through apple pay which is time wasting (disappointed ) all brand new equipment but few of them squeaking already….no equipment for each body part….literally no vibe in there…to get out of there had to ask some members to let me out cuz couldn’t find any staff member around (disappointed)waste of time ,money and building…. I can’t believe they have done there marketing, there are much better gyms in spalding, these chain gyms are poor and haven’t no soul

Fantastic experience: Great gym, brand new equipment and anything broken gets fixed/replaced quickly, the staff/team are welcoming and approachable. Decent shower and changing facilities, 24/7 so great for those who aren’t confident in a crowded environment

Fantastic experience: Before joining this gym I’ve felt of not going but coming here has made me want to go nearly every day. One of the PT trainers called Jordan is friendly and welcoming who has helped me achieve some of my goals,hoping to clear some more. Would recommend to anyone

Negative experience: Not a good start. Very arrogant PT who seemed aghast when I questioned why there was no reception or no way of joining in person, sarcastically asking. “Do you not do anything online?” Very tiny gym - some garage gyms are bigger. Forget it if you want to change after work - no changing facilities worth mentioning. And to top it all, a three-day free trial, advertised as being available until Monday, has magically vanished from their website. There’s plenty of other good options in Spalding folks - even for a few extra quid, the bigger space, new equipment, changing facilities and welcoming staff are worth it.

Negative experience: Very small. Limited space. Won’t be returning! Shocking!

Negative experience: Tried this gym waited 10 minutes for changing rooms as they only have 2 small cubicles, gave up waiting for the shower. Will not be returning to this gym as it’s very small and very basic home like equipment and not commercial. Limited stations per muscle group.

Negative experience: Popped into the new Pure gym in Spalding to have a look round, looks nothing like the advertised gym and the advert is misleading, its a tiny gym, with next to no equipment in, parking is hard as its shared carpark with B&M, not many toilets and 1 shower room - so i left and went to another gym which had 3-4 times the amount of space and equipment - if you want a gym with atmosphere and a variety of workout equipment, then this gym is not for you !

Positive experience: Still nice, but cleaning should be a priority. Also, a decent changing room, and more functional showers will be a plus

Negative experience: You simply can’t contact anyone if you have a problem with your subscription. They are taking your money and you can’t use the service you paid for.

Negative experience: If you know the smell of a new car and the feelings associated with getting into it, as well as the satisfaction it brings, then you know what kind of feelings and satisfaction you get at this gym—of course, as long as all the equipment is still new and smells fresh. I highly recommend this gym, for now❗️so why only 2️⃣⭐️ stars❓️ Because at the opening, there was one very unpleasant staff person, a very tall and big but not big as bodybuilder but more with bodyfat and very self-assured man who did not introduce himself and clearly had a very high opinion of himself, Don't get me wrongI I have nothing against those traits as they can be useful in emergency situations or when something needs to be resolved, but not in a scenario where one needs to be friendly and welcoming to customers, unless they don't care whether the gym stays in business or not, back to him... which he demonstrated in a demeaning way when talking to others. I asked him nicely to show me why one machine wasn't working, and with great reluctance, he approached and condescendingly said that I should not have pressed the red button. I replied, "No, I did not pressed and he said yes because he had been watching me struggling to operate the machine ineptly." But still, I did not press the red button ❗️ Since he was watching standing with other trainers and saw that I couldn’t start this machine, why didn’t he come over and help❓️ On that day, the entire staff was smiling, happy, and helpful—they even asked if they could help me as I stood there pondering which drink to choose from vending machine. Yet, this tall, grayish-haired man acted like a police officer or a gestapo agent, gesturing to people who were entering for the first time with his hand to STOP and then waving them to BACK OFF, as if they couldn’t approach and he couldn’t simply politely tell them. If he had commanded me like that, I would have turned on my heel before entering and he wouldn’t have had to bother opening the gate for me because I would have left immediately, as I saw two other people do. I hope the owner will either replace this tall, blonde man from the gym or at least curb his temper because if he doesn't change, I will consider changing gym and will also advise my friends not to come here. Because I come there as a customer and I want to be treated with respect, as I treat others, not as if someone who is taller or bigger can demean others. I do not accept such behaviour. Just as I would not allow it for myself, I also do not permit others to treat people that way, regardless of their size or height.

Negative experience: UPDATED: To me the staff seem friendly, the equipment you expect however note this is a very small PureGym - not comparable to the Peterborough ones - what I’ve known in other places as ‘PureGym Local’ - there are no changing rooms but instead a changing cubical, a disabled/accessible toilet, a single shower room, and a standard toilet - I actually prefer this approach but in busy times don’t rely on being able to take a shower here. The group workout area is open plan but of a good size with a rack (see photo, has mirrored space behind not shown) that is well stocked. I’ve updated this review and reduced the stars since first posting as I’ve reflected how few resistance and cardio stations it seems there are compared to other PureGym sites. Really this is a group workout area with a small solo workout area. I think many people assumed PureGym were building a first floor as they have elsewhere, and they didn’t. The photos on the sign up page were not particularly representative as most of those seemed to show full sized gyms. If you sign up here visit first so you have the right expectations. Based on how busy it was when I last tried to visit (I didn’t even enter, I could see through the window) in relation to the number of stations I won’t be staying.
