Negative experience: There is a creepy personal trainer who you can hear all throughout the gym constantly hitting on woman. Inc. My wife who felt rather uncomfortable with the experience and told me. The same guy came up to us and tried to make out he was very friendly with my wife. Really odd.

Negative experience: Awful experience. Poor customer services. I have done well to just do a single day that you pay 14.99£. Their membership is 99£ per month can’t believe it. You go next door it is 65£ with a better experience. I wish good luck to the business.

Negative experience: Showers without hot water for over a month and management refuse to give any kind of partial refund even though it is a part of the T&C AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. Management is rubbish!!! Update. We also don’t have aircon! Which is wild. You are literally working out with the stink of everyone who has come that day! This gym is seriously going down hill and failing to meet the basic standards of a gym let a lone a Nuffield gym.

Negative experience: Cold showers for over a month. Numerous exercise machines broken for months. No basic maintenance. Definitely no investment. As though it's waiting to be shut down.

Negative experience: Very tired. Everything in the changing rooms is scuffed and old. The gym is large yet doesn't have as wide a range of equipment as other local gyms. The swimming pool is a good size and nice. The men's showers are cold. I complained about this and was told it had been like this for several weeks. I recommend avoiding this place until it can get the basics right.

Negative experience: I booked my son for swimming lessons, paid, just to be told on the second lesson that he couldn’t do it because it was too advanced (when I said at the beginning that he never had lessons before), the teacher said to me she sent an email about him to the management, they didn’t said anything to me neither changed on the app. She told me that they would sort it out at the reception, just they didn’t sort anything out, rudely wrote with a terrible handwriting an email in a piece of paper and told me to send an email.. I lost the money of that lesson, the lessons aren’t changed, nothing.. and apparently the teacher said to the lady she told me, when she didn’t, while to me she told me she sent an email to management.TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Edited: I was able to fix it through the email, though I understood the manager knew nothing about the supposed email the teacher sent to him. Something is truly wrong in the communication there.. someone was clearly lying.. the customer service there needs significant improvement!

Negative experience: I have been a member of this gym for two years, and unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfactory. When my daughter and I first inquired about joining, the sales representative made an offensive comment about my ability to pay, which felt discriminatory. This left a bad impression, and I opted to sign up online instead. Over the two years, I’ve found there’s not much for children to do, and their classes are often poorly managed. Classes sometimes get canceled last minute. My son and his best friend both joined the gym, but my son was denied the same gym tour his younger friend received, which left him confused and upset. The inconsistency and lack of communication were frustrating. Many staff members, about 80%, have been rude in their interactions, and the overall management is disappointing. If a child misses a swimming class, it's extremely difficult to reschedule or arrange a catchup lesson. My son missed three classes, and despite contacting the swimming manager, I’ve yet to receive any response or resolution. I would not recommend this gym, particularly for families with young children, as their service and communication need serious improvement.

Negative experience: This place is just getting worse and worse! Yet they've the cheek to raise prices circa 3 times in 24 months. Where is the money going, clearly not back into the club?! Do not join this gym. Here's why: 1. Dirty (filthy dirty!!). Look at the shower area/changing rooms. 2. The gym - rusty outdated equipment, rotting wood (bench) in the sauna, door seal so loose it could flick someone in the face/eye as you open and close the door. They clean it once a week...!!!! 3. Steam room is also cleaned once a week. 4. Again so much of the gym equipment rusty, obselete/outdated. I'm surprised health and safety haven't raised concerns! 5. No hot water - "waiting on a part..." - where have I heard that before 6. Staff/management don't care as they know Head Office won't sign off expenditure/investment so they get the brunt of the negative feedback from customers. Resulting in them not giving a sh1t and some of the staff showing a bad attitude. 7. Took away the hydro therapy pool due to the energy crisis, raised prices and still the end user is left with a rusty, outdated, obsolete gym with a large amount of equipment out of order. The spa is filthy dirty, not maintained (see above) 8. DON'T JOIN - go elsewhere. You've been warned!!!!!

Negative experience: Very dirty sauna and many people come in with street shoes, including the pool attendant. In the first floor area where the gym is, there are a large number of exercise machines that do not work and are not repaired. Should keep the facility in better condition considering how expensive it is.

Negative experience: This place could be so much more. When it was Virgin Active, the equipment and the showers were clean and both worked and they had hot water. Currently they have about 6 showers not working in the ladies changing room. The showers are corroded and you don't want to touch anything or put your feet on the floor. They have the steam room which is great but no hydro pool. So much money for so little. I've just read the previous post. It seems nothing has changed.

Negative experience: Appalling customer service, my family and I have been members at Nuffield health Merton Abbey for over 10 years. But recently the customer service has gone down hill. Very unhelpful receptionist (doesn’t look like they want to be there). No one takes complaints seriously at this gym. For the amount of money we pay, this level of service is unacceptable. The gym floor just looked dark and uninviting and not to mention the airconditioning . It hasn’t worked in years. It’s unbearable on a hot day for a high intensity class. This is surely a health and safety issue. The only good thing about this gym is the creche and the creche staffs are amazing. But now that my children has outgrown it. There is no more reason to be paying premium for a gym that doesn’t care about their members.

Negative experience: Having been a member of this gym since the good old days of Virgin Active, it seems my membership goes up, but the quality of the place has gone down. First of all, seeing staff, in their uniforms, smoking at the front of the centre (including near the entrance of Premier Inn), really isn't a good advert for health and fitness. Secondly, the majority of the staff are rude. It's almost too much effort to even take payment when paying for my daughters swimming lesson. The changing rooms are filthy. And it's impossible to book a class! The only reason I have the membership is so my daughter can have her lessons otherwise this would have been ditched months ago

Positive experience: I've been a member for three years and generally happy as it gives what i need from a gym. I do like the open floor as creates plenty of space, and although I've always avoided the evening peak (4-8pm), when it has been busy, its been ok. Two grumbles though. Firstly the gym floor classes - be warned, when theyre on they turn the music up so high you can turn your headphones up to full volume and still hear their music. Studio classes I've been too are fine and instructors are lovely. There is a misalignment with class titles with yoga as i went to two restorative yoga classes and one was like hatha yoga class and the other yin. I now know the instructors and what they teach, but first experience found that was a bit misleading. The second is that it is hot. The air con or cooling is really free standing units, so I'm glad I've never been here at peak and in the summer. Plus i avoid being right in front of them otherwise you seriously feel them. Overall the gym is ok. I've never used the pool etc here. But with multi site access, i can use the sauna on the Battersea branch that is in the ladies changing room.

Positive experience: I joined this gym when I was 15. Now I am 40. I confirm. Very little has been upgraded since. The kid's swim Club is very well run. Facilities are dated. Basic things like toilets have a slow flush system. Toilets are not checked regularly. The gym is well equipped and recently had a good change of layout. The shower facilities need upgrading which is a big letdown. Management doesn't have a maintenance log to log breakage. Small things like changing the battery of clocks are not taken care of. Management is hopeless and they don't respond to emails. Please sell the gym. So it can be taken care of by a new company.

Negative experience: "My name is Claudio. Yesterday, I visited the gym for the first time with my brother and nephew to see if I wanted to join. I purchased a day pass through Hussle for £15. After yesterday's experience, I have to say I won't be returning to this gym. My family and I were treated poorly by a personal trainer named Richard. He approached us rudely, stating that sparring wasn't allowed in the gym and suggested we do it in the car park. His manner of speaking was disrespectful, as if he believed himself to be superior. I immediately informed him that he couldn't speak to us like that and lodged a complaint, but he just walked away. It's absurd that in 2024, some people still believe they're above others because of their profession. Richard, you're just a regular person like everyone else. Don't judge a book by its cover. Due to your arrogance, Nufflied in Collier Wood has lost three potential customers. Well done, you're making your gym lose money."

Positive experience: I used to be a member about 6 years ago and went on a day pass today and its now looking shabby, tiles falling off in the steam room, grubby shower area. Good gym equipment still but lacking in free weights. Classes look well attended, though there was 2 types of music going on in the pool area when the aqua aerobics class was going on. There is no Jacuzzi any more which is a shame. Staff at reception were friendly but there was no staff in the gym when I was there.

Negative experience: Been here few times and really disappointed. Shower water is not hot nor barely warm. Shower gel/ shampoo are usually running out in female shower. Not to mention that some gym machines are old, missing rubber handle etc. Also, unlike many other Nuffield gym, no towel is provided.

Negative experience: I'm giving one star which is only for the staff, they are all kind and professional. The gym itself is a bombsite, scattered with broken equipment. I only joined as it is the only gym in the area that has a steam / sauna. They removed the Jacuzzi in November (hadn't worked in a year prior to that) Yet they raised the prices earlier in the year. I would but a lot of my exercise is calisthenic based so i primarily stay as it has the space.

Negative experience: I’ll start with the positives, the staff seem really great, it’s a big gym and the classes look quite fun. Also they have finally had the floors refitted in the free weights section and they look great. Other than that, the gym is a complete mess. Most of the machines are broken or breaking. A lot of them, such as the abductor, is broken to the point it is just about working. A lot of the others have the weights stick, the worst for this is the cable machine which sticks on one side and is fine on the other. There are only 3 very old benches, they need at least 5 for the amount of people that come here. There are nowhere near enough plates, I’ve seen all of the 20’s used between two people. Need to at least double the 20 plates, and need to restock on the smaller 1.25 and 2.5’s as well. The space could be such an amazing gym, it just needs a lot of work.

Negative experience: Let's be honest, this isn't a good gym. I'm a relatively new user of the gym and to say I've been disappointed is an understatement. The pros - it's big and spacious. The cons - it's filled with tired and broken equipment throughout the entire gym. It's dirty, bordering on unhygienic. It has a disproportionate amount of machines vs free weights, meaning that the free weights are is always busy and experiencing queues, whilst the cavernous machine based area remains largely untouched. I flicked back through the reviews from the past 2-3 years and it seems I'm not the first person who has highlighted the same issues and it appears to have not had any sort of investment or maintenance in multiple years. I'm sure this was a great gym 10 years ago but it's evident that nothing has been done to maintain basic standards in recent times. Update - Saturday afternoon and the pool is closed as they haven’t put a lifeguard on the rota. If I could amend the number of stars to 0, I would

Negative experience: End Nov 2023 went to reception trying to cancel my membership. Was told they can’t do it onsite and we have to submit a form online at home. So we submitted it! One and half month later, I’m still being charged. Went to reception again in Jan, was told by a sales manager that I’m on 12 months contract which I clearly remembered it should be a monthly contract with one month notice!!! The manager say I need to speak to a more senior level of manager so I went back for the third time to cancel a membership!!!! Now this high level senior manager told me I am not on a 12 months contract and I have to call the HQ to cancel my membership! Big fraud! Avoid unless you want to be charged for the rest of your life!

Negative experience: I’m a new member of this gym and first impressions are poor. The equipment and machines are not only dated but in very poor condition. There are not enough bumper plates for people to utilise nor are there ever enough clips to secure plates on barbells. Numerous machines are out of order, and many machines have rubber handles missing or loose. The one positive I can feedback is the staff seem friendly and polite. The actual gym is in tragic condition. For the premium price charged this is a poor quality gym and health club. I will be considering future options

Negative experience: First of all, I am a Nuffield member for few years now, and didn’t make any complaints even though there was long time technical issues on SPA facilities etc. however, the behaviour of one of the staff(lady) was so disrespectful for me and for my little son on Saturday last week. I took my little one to the swimming pool as he always enjoys to be there but, the facility was not available so, I took him with me upstairs to gym with me for an hour. The lady staff started to talk to us to go out immediately in very disrespectful way, even my son started to feel nervous after this happened. I really felt disgusted about her behaviour what she has done to us as this place needs to be more friendly with kids I believe. This is a big shame for a company like this !

Negative experience: The only reason why this place is worth it are the body balance trainers, specifically Charlie, Fran and Rachael. The gym itself is like any other. The pool is now closed for a month, meaning I can’t go for a swim but also my son hasn’t got classes. The changing rooms are utterly disgusting( even I was told they were being refurbished soon), the receptionists are clueless and the swimming instructors are totally demotivated.

Negative experience: I joined this Nuffield Health to just use the pool and spa facilities, which I explained at the time - and nobody mentioned they were closing the pool for the month of November to remove the jacuzzi (to reduce costs for the club). I just wouldn't have joined if I had known. They gave just 9 days notice of this. The offer to use another Nuffield doesn't work for me, as it increases the time for a swim and cost for parking - so I have declined this offer. I've tried to cancel my contract with them (under breach of contract) and have been passed from central cancellations then back to the club who refused my early cancellation of my contract. I'm so frustrated with Nuffield Health and will never be a customer again. Really poor customer service all round. I expect more of a premium fitness centre.

Negative experience: Nuffield Merton recently introduced a new parking system. I forgot to enter the car registration plate when I got in as I was rushing to a scheduled class. I remembered at the end of the class before leaving the gym but was told by reception I'd get a ticket now because I didn't do it within 10 mins. There are no signs specifically telling you to do it within 10 mins (I checked), plus it seems very silly considering the parking is for 2 hours - why not allow people to enter the registration plates within those two hours. If it's clear the car park is only being used by a member who is using the gym then why issue a ticket. Looks like extra money-grubbing tactics by a greedy company. A company cannot expect loyalty from members when the company is not loyal to their members.

Negative experience: My experience at Nuffield Gym Merton Abbey has been nothing short of disappointing and frustrating. Considering the substantial monthly fee of £87.00, I had high expectations for the quality of service and facilities, but unfortunately, those expectations were not met. First and foremost, the hygiene and maintenance of the gym left much to be desired. The Pilates and yoga mats were far from clean, emitting an unpleasant odor and showing signs of inadequate cleaning. This lack of hygiene was a recurring issue and raised concerns about the overall cleanliness of the gym. Furthermore, class delays became a regular occurrence during my visits, often starting 10-15 minutes late. This disrupted my schedule and prevented me from fully participating in the classes. The lack of punctuality and organization reflected poorly on the gym's management, making the experience less enjoyable. Moreover, I was disappointed by the basic quality of the classes and the attitude of some trainers who appeared dismissive. I expected a higher standard of instruction and engagement given the premium membership fee. In conclusion, my experience at Nuffield Gym Merton Abbey has been far from satisfactory, and I have lost confidence in the quality of service provided. Therefore, I had no choice but to terminate my membership with immediate effect. For a gym with such a premium fee, I expected better maintenance, communication, and overall service quality, but sadly, those expectations were not met.

Negative experience: Echoing the sentiment of all the recent reviews. Paying £65-75 per month to have broken equipment, average classes, a permanently closed jacuzzi and a crèche open for 2 hours is beyond bad. It’s also a shame you can’t just pay to visit the pool as a one off - this would be a separate revenue stream for the Nuffield as there are no pools nearby. I left and moved to The Gym.

Positive experience: The gym (especially the changing rooms and toilets) should certainly be cleaner and consistently stocked with tissue and soap etc. I am also very unhappy that the jacuzzi is being closed.The saunas, pool and jacuzzi were one of the reasons I joined. I do think that the gym needs to rethink the closure, especially given the high fees that we pay. There is a lot of competition in this area and this gym really needs to up its game;take care of the basics or it will start losing members.

Negative experience: They sent me a message saying that the pool was closed for maintenence issues which was not actually true and when I asked to go to the wimbledon club they this guy (manager) on the phone told me that it was not possible. I explained to him that I can't go to another club that was far from home, because I'm partially blinded and he was just rude and insensible. I asked what compensation he could provide and he told me that it is the way it is. I have never been treated like that. I won't renew my membership

Negative experience: The showers are beyond disgusting and stink so bad, often no hot water. So many pieces of equipment are broken they've even stopped putting out of order signs on the broken equipment now to try and save some embarrassment. Many conspiracy theories floating around the changing rooms everyday amongst members - are Nuffield giving up on caring/cleaning this location as it is being closed down?? This is the most likely outcome as it is obvious no one cares for the place sadly. Classes also cancelled frequently, no air con, spin bikes are from the 70's with no screens on. The gym floor is broken in so many places. When raising any issues with staff they say that Nuffield is a charity. All round nightmare tbh!

Negative experience: I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction and frustration with the current state of affairs at Merton Abbey. As a dedicated member of the gym, I feel compelled to bring to your attention several issues that have been causing significant inconvenience and dissatisfaction among the membership base. Firstly, I must address the recent decision to permanently shut down the jacuzzi area in an attempt to save on energy costs. While I understand the need for cost-saving measures, it is completely unacceptable that a large portion of the facility is now rendered unusable without any clear plan for its future utilization. This decision severely hampers the overall experience for members, especially considering the hefty membership fees we pay. Furthermore, I am deeply disappointed by the scheduling arrangement for the swimming pool. The fact that there are kids' sessions until 6pm, followed by individual swimming classes until 7pm, effectively prevents regular members from utilizing the pool during peak hours. It appears that this scheduling strategy is geared towards maximizing profits, but it is causing immense frustration and inconvenience for those of us who wish to use the pool during these peak times. To compound matters, the swimming instructors seem to be unaware of the impact their scheduling has on ordinary members. Their occupation of most swimming lanes during peak times often leads to confrontations with frustrated members, resulting in an unpleasant atmosphere. Similarly, the reception staff appears ill-equipped to handle the ongoing complaints and concerns raised by members regarding these issues. This lack of effective communication only serves to further frustrate and alienate the membership base. As a paying member, I am primarily interested in utilizing the swimming area, which includes the pool, sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi. With the permanent closure of the jacuzzi, I am left with only 75% of the facilities I paid for. Additionally, the restricted access to the swimming pool during peak hours further diminishes the value of my membership. These tactics are not only questionable but also contribute to a high churn rate among members. Lastly, hygiene levels at swimming pool area are really low as there’s hair near showers next to Sauna and it’s been there for multiple days meaning that staff don’t clean after finishing shifts. I implore you, to take immediate action to address these concerns and rectify the situation at Merton Abbey. It is crucial that you find a suitable solution for the unused area, reinstate the jacuzzi, and reevaluate the swimming pool scheduling to ensure fair and equitable access for all members. I trust that you will treat this matter with the urgency it deserves and take appropriate steps to restore the faith of the membership base. Your prompt attention to these issues will go a long way in ensuring the continued satisfaction and loyalty of Merton Abbey's members.

Negative experience: Staff aren't friendly or welcoming. I had an injury and was told she didn't want me in her class, despite it being a mobility class. Very rude and cancelled my membership straight away. Jetts, around the corner, is much more friendly and welcoming to everybody.

Positive experience: This place has excellent classes and the swimming pool is great. The equipment in the gym is grubby and the showers and toilets are grim too. However, I've noticed when the cleaner is around he/she does a great job. Perhaps this place needs more cleaners as it's a busy gym and one person can't manage all this cleaning chaos. Sometimes it's also down to the members too- Clean up after yourself, flush the toilet, don't dye your hair or shave in the public showers, stop scapping your dead skin off in the sauna and steam rooms, don't cough and spit on the floor, throw your rubbish away (just the basics).

Negative experience: On Saturdays and Sunday when is more busy with swimming class and having more children the cleaning are not good, the bathrooms are always almost flooding when you need to use the toilets, there’s nobody cleaning. Also some machines in the gym are rusty very old now they don’t renew anything. In the shower some soap compartment dosent work to take the soap so I have to open the top and try to get the soap from the top. I’m very disappointing with this gym, not mention they increased the price even not having the jacuzzi anymore, how they can say they can’t afford jacuzzi and same time increases the price. Updating: It’s been a week without hot water, for who depend having shawer before going to work it’s really bad like my case. Unacceptable!!!!

Negative experience: If it were possible, I'd rate this gym with zero stars. The facility suffers from a shortage of equipment, particularly lacking in essential items, and a significant portion of what's available is either dysfunctional or outdated. The hygiene standards are notably poor, with grimy showers and even worse restroom conditions. It's evident that this gym desperately requires an upgrade, with newer equipment and an overall renovation. Considering the current state, the membership fees feel excessively high for the amenities provided. I strongly advise against joining this gym.

Negative experience: Very spacious with good equipment but they hold classes in the main area, which after work, it’s the last thing I want, especially having tinnitus. My watch recorded over 85db, which is over the legal limit for public spaces. Fair enough if you’ve signed up for a class behind closed doors but it shouldn't be mandatory for everyone else.

Fantastic experience: After being a member of Norbury Nuffield for almost a year, I decided to visit the Merton branch due to the swimming pool at Norbury being out of service. I had an impromptu induction with Jack in the Merton gym. He was amazing, caring and knowledgeable, I learnt so much about the equipment and general fitness. The difference in standard of the gym Instructors at the two gyms is huge. There’s usually no one to help at Norbury they just leave you to get on with the very old and cranky equipment. I wish Merton wasn’t so far for me as it’s a lot nicer. And a big THANK YOU to Jack the personal trainer at Merton.

Positive experience: Showers and spa area very dirty even in the morning full of hair and dirt. Tiles meant to be cream I think but they are black whole place needs a deep clean. Gym area is ok lots of space and classes are good. Used to be better maintained when virgin owned it.

Fantastic experience: I have never liked the gym or had the confidence to go, but after a few PT sessions with Elkanah I have for the first time today enjoyed the gym! He really motivates me and makes it an enjoyable experience. If you are feeling nervous or not comfortable in the gym environment then definitely book a session with Elkanah. Negative experience: I had a dreadful experience with Laura, she does not deserve to work in a gym where the average cost of membership is £60 per month, she should work at a £20 a month gym with the attitude she shows, really rude and disrespectful, I am also making a formal complaint as I will not come and see her there, we have x5 memberships as a group and we all feel the same way!!

Negative experience: Update: 10 months later, still the same as per my original review below. How long can it take to “deliver spare parts”? The worst Nuffield I’ve seen really. A lot of equipment broken, no towels, and just generally very run down. I would also not use those showers - looks dirty. Not a feel-good club like most others. Positive experience: Updated review: Initially I gave one star due to the poorly advertised access times, however since then there are signs everywhere and it is on the website. I would say it’s an okay gym, only because of the classes. I come to the postnatal class where you can bring your baby into the class, not many gyms offer this and it’s the only reason I come to this gym. They also offer a huge variety of classes and lots late in the evening. I wouldn’t give it more than 3 stars because the cleanliness is really letting it down. I avoid the spa area or showers because it’s so dirty and the 45 min cut off time is a bit of a nuisance despite being well advertised now. If it was clean, equipment in good shape (the yoga mats are literally ripped) and they had a 30 min last access like other Nuffield gyms I would actually change my home gym to Merton Abbey, but currently I much prefer to drive an extra 10-15 mins to Wandsworth Southside and use the pool/spa facilities. The opening times are misleading. I turned up 40 minutes before the club was going to close, but was told I can’t be let in as they last admit 45 minutes prior to closing. I only wanted a 10-15 minute cardio workout. What difference would that be to someone who’s already on the gym floor? I complained to management who said that’s standard (don’t think that’s true as other clubs are 30 minutes prior to closing) and she said she will update the website. 4 months on the misleading opening times are still on there. Even though this club is closest to me I prefer to drive an extra 10-15 minutes to go to southside. Funnily enough, I can leave my house at the same time but be refused entry to merton, but be allowed into southside. Edited to reply: Other Nuffield clubs do not close for access as early as Merton - there’s no point in having a set closing time if you’re going to actually prevent people from using the service they’re paying for nearly an hour before. Negative experience: After a long day with my family and 18 moths old baby I only wanted to relax for 10 minutes in the sauna. So, I am leaving my home as usual, driving and looking forward to that chill time. Then arriving at reception and being told at 7:18pm by Natalie that she’s not able to let me in. Guys, I am paying to use the facilities and this is totally unacceptable!

Negative experience: Average club. Shuts says open until 8 but no one can actually enter from 7.15 not clear enough on website and should of course be echoed in Google that it's closed even with a discount the gym is expensive and not value for money.

Negative experience: Hi, Today was angry and disgusted with rude behaviour and talking manner member of a gym and the same managers don't even apologize instead she trying to give me lessons how I have talked to here in palate manner. I didn't know that gym is finished at 20;00. And 20;00 I just taking shower and try to leave, member of staff go to my shower room and start shouting and demanding to leave now. I was so angry and discussed that members of staff cant speak in a palate manner and speak to a client like some kind of dog. This is totally unacceptable behaviour and service for what I paying. Very Poor Service and so disappointed . Can not recommend to any one.

Fantastic experience: There's lots of space and reasonably up to date equipment. It would benefit from additional squat racks and platforms, and it does seem to take a long time for broken equipment to be fixed. Probably not the fault of the gym itself, more a Nuffield Service agreement. Staff are always super friendly. Gets busy at peak times but by 8pm it's always super quiet and easy to get on with your workout.

Negative experience: This gym is pure madness. Before the lockdown I shared my feedback about the dirty changing rooms, lockers permanently occupied (half the lockers are taken while there are a few people in the gym) and the swimsuit dryer that is constantly broken. I was told that they have a new manager and all will be resolved. Coming back after 4 months of lockdown all the issues are still there. To not do the lockers clear-out and not fix the swimsuit dryer (or get it off the wall if it is not possible to fix it) in such a long time seems absolutely bonkers. Seeing a maintenance man fixing little things today is pure comedy. Waiting for members to come back to do maintenance? Surely, the maintenance guys could be brought back from furlough a little bit earlier than today as there is plenty of work for them in this club. Maybe you should JUST DO IT Nuffield? Unless complacency and laziness are now Nuffield’s brand values? Edit: I would reduce my rating to 0 if it was possible. Staff is absolutely rude and becoming more aggressive every day. They don’t take any responsibility for the mistakes they make (like wrong opening times on the website) and chat back when you point it out. They also misrepresent terms and conditions, quote them and refuse to point out to what they are quoting only to then reply to your complaint “we are sorry that we were mistaken on this occasion”. Rude and treating members like intruders in “their” club.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member for over a year and missed it so much during the Covid 19 shut down. Good classes, clean and every member of staff I dealt with very helpful. I get regular updates by txt which helps in planning my day. Can't wait for it to reopen. Bring on the 25th July.

Negative experience: Awful awful awful place. Very rude staff. Really dreadful! Cancelled my membership a month ago cause it is pointless to pay so much money and being treated or better said IGNORED like this! There is plenty of new gyms around for less than half price. Don’t waist your money on those people. Joined over 4 years ago when it was Virgin which was so much better. I stayed all this time after Nuffield took over only because they have spa and pool but I don’t think these facilities and the rude staff are worth paying so much money for! Stay away!

Negative experience: Customer service is absolutely shocking, face to face fine. Anything over email it's like talking to a brick wall, I wouldn't recommend a Nuffield to anyone. The gym is nothing to shout about and nor is the pool.

Negative experience: ** Update, 3 years later: This place has gotten EVEN worse. Multiple broken equipment, disgustingly unhygienic and dirty showers, health and safety breaches… the list just goes on… check out the latest photos! - BROKEN EQUIPMENT HAS BEEN BROKEN FOR AT LEAST 5 MONTHS - HEALTH AND SAFETY CONCERNS WITH FLOORING (I AM IN THE PROCESS OF REPORTING TO MERTON) - WASHING FACILITIES IN CHANGING ROOM OUT OF USE FOR LAST 3 WKS AT LEAST - LIGHTS IN MENS CHANGING NOT WORKING, LOCKERS BROKEN AND SMELLY LIMESCALE INFESTED SHOWERS ** What has happened to this place since the days of Virgin is truly tragic. Not only have they: 1 - Increased prices 2 - Introduced charges for towels 3 - Removed disabled access to the reception area in favour of coffee machines 4 - Made numerous contracts with local schools, meaning that swimming lessons with loud children are a persistent thing (sometimes making you think you're in a local council leisure facility) They have also: 1 - Ignored MULTIPLE e-mails in which I have raised SERIOUS health and safety concerns 2 - Fired the best cleaners and now, rarely have any cleaners 3 - Stated in their signboards that they issue 'PENALTY CHARGE NOTICES', not 'Parking Charge Notices' (Which is unlawful, as private parking companies are unable to issue 'penalty charge notices') 4 - Cared only about money 5 - Neglected machinery 6 - Evidently neglected staff 7 - Always have things out of order 8 - Had 220V of EXPOSED cabling in a WET changing room area where children are Just look at the images and think for yourself! Sadly, I rely upon using my home centre of Wandsworth SouthSide and this is a nearer centre to me too... Quite frankly, BRING VIRGIN BACK TO OPERATE THIS SORRY MESS!

Positive experience: Good sized gym with a range of equipment. Only used the gym facilities so cant comment on the pool. Pretty busy most of the time but that's London gyms! Expensive but only gym in the area with a pool and has a lot of classes. Decent selection of equipment and spread out but it's so hot in there! I went at about midday on a Saturday and even then it was so hot, I was sweating as soon as I got in, they definitely need to sort out air conditioning there!

Negative experience: Great potential as the facilities are spacious with big pool and parking. Equipment is dated, broken, maintenance is non-existent. Hygiene is appalling, stay away from this gym until they change management and do significant investment into equipment and interior.

Negative experience: Poor service, unhelpful staff and always have issues there

Positive experience: Large gym floor on the upper levels. Has 25m, 5-lane swimming pool, huge unisex sauna, unisex steam room as well as a warm Jacuzzi/water jet curtain area. A £1 hire fee applies for towels, but you need to request these specifically from the reception. You will also need a padlock, although you can also borrow one from reception if you don’t have one. There are also keypad-operated smaller lockers for valuables. Be warned – it’s one of those places where people like to talk loudly in the sauna though.

Fantastic experience: Went there mainly for the swimming and spa pool, absolutely loved it. The pool is very well maintained, and has very clear water...unlike the murky water at my local Bannatyne’s pool. The Spa pool has many different areas which were perfect for winding down after a session. They have lay down or stand up areas in the jacuzzi, and in addition have a couple of different water fall zones which were powerful. Also made use of the sauna and steam room, with using the ice water bucket after to cool down. Had an awesome work out and wind down there, just a shame it’s not more local to me(Crystal Palace)...was worth the effort travelling though.

Negative experience: Can you please, pretty please, with sugar on the top, start cleaning the changing rooms and toilets through the day? Because when like last week one toilet is missing the toilet seat, other toilet is missing the lock and the final toilet in changing room is blocked you have no chance. Calling me a liar and blaming the mess on the members really doesn't help. I pay my fees to you, so you can pay the cleaners. Thank you! Photos of DAILY mess and apparently "FIXED" lock. Half the photos were taken AFTER I complained to the club manager. Sad.

Fantastic experience: Great best experience I have ever had missed our last appointment but there was a computing error causing us a problem using our free passes but the woman who dealt with us I don’t remember her man but was the general manager allow us in with no great inconvenience to us . And because of such great service I’ve been in touch with Alison at the membership team who we met yesterday again such a lovely lady and I’m looking into getting my finance a membership but nothing 100% yet just looking into it .

Positive experience: I went on a free gym pass mostly to use the sauna facilities as I have a puregym membership. Did a quick workout in the gym, a lot of the equipment is broken, I personally wouldn't pay the cost of their membership considering the state of the gym. The sauna Jacuzzi facilities are nice and what you would expect.

Positive experience: Fantastic gym but my word have they got some of the most obnoxious staff you can find in a gym. The job is simple if you're front of house, be welcoming, be helpful and have nice energy. Now before anyone says we're only human, they literally act this way all the time. An old man who's swiped his card too many times how about you let him in with a smile instead of lecturing the poor old soul about it? Also the mensroom never has any paper towel, yet the gym is so stingy with actual towels it's as if you have to sacrifice someone to get one. Honestly it's a cracking gym with ace facilities but the provoking nature of their staff needs to change...

Negative experience: Not the best. Air con inefficient in summer etc. Have left and joined a different gym operator. When I said to the manager in reception that I’d like to cancel my membership, there was no interest or enquiry as to why I was leaving (had been a member for 3.5 yrs), just got handed a form and that was that. They don’t really care.

Positive experience: Great gym. Been a member a coupled of years now. Has its ups and downs but overall a good gym with pool and sauna and steam rooms. It is small so can be a bit too busy but you choose your times if you can. My biggest gripe is cleaning of the changing rooms and gym equipment. Reception staff are a friendly bunch.

Negative experience: I started my membership with an annual payment. Once my membership ran out I wasnt informed and payment was taken out of my account with out warning or premission. After talking to the manager I was informed I would get it back. Then was charged again the following month. After waiting a month I got the first payment back but now that I am trying to get the rest back I'm constantly told ' Monday you will get it' 3 months and over 60 calls later I'm still waiting. Aside from that the facilities like steam room never work... Showers were off for a month.
