Positive experience: A good, large gym with plenty of choice. It gets a bit crowded at times. Most people are friendly. But can take them a couple of weeks to fix broken equipment.

Negative experience: I have been a member at this gym for around a month now and it has a wide range of machines and equipment to use. Especially given its price point vs. Other gyms in the area. Couple points which makes me give this gym a 2 star rating & for other members to consider before joining - gym floor always has equipment everywhere, noone deracks their barbells/ machines, puts their equipment away. You find random things in random places. This is surprising as within day hours there is ALWAYS 3-4 members of staff working and hiding in the office whereas they can be on the gym floor and put the weights back or wiping/ sanitise equipments. On several occasions a young girl and a middle age man are in that office just talking among them selves instead putting things where they belong. Secondly I would say the gym does have a wide variety of gym machines, dead platforms & BB racks and free weights however they lack assisted pull up/ dip machine & core/ ab machines which is a shame. They could also have a wider variety of handles for the cables such as a V bar tricep handle. Parking is free in the chimes for 2 hours but takes you 10m there and 10m back.

Negative experience: No sanitation in the gym!!! How are so many people using the equipment but nothing to while down. Bringing a towel isn’t enough. We need some sanitiser spray or wipes. Have you touched a barbell after a sweaty person has used it? Also with norovirus and Covid going around how are you keeping us patrons safe? Would love to do a positive post one this question had been answer and issue resolved? This is standard practice in gyms. I tried speaking to staff but they said head office removed all sanitation. Please make it make sense? Here are some updates from yesterday definitely cleaned “regularly”… people definitely use their “sweat towels”… soaps been empty since last week in the bathroom.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member of JD Gyms for a while now, and I can confidently say it’s one of the best gyms in the area! The facilities are top-notch, always clean and well-maintained. The equipment is modern and there’s a great variety to suit all workout preferences. A special shoutout to the duty managers, Abbi and Daisy! They are incredibly friendly and always willing to help. Positive experience: Recently refurbished and upgraded equipment (in July 2024), it's perfect for basic workouts but it's a little small. It's a very busy gym and great for the price of £24.99 a month. I go to this gym regularly and love it ☺️ The staff are friendly and always willing to help show you equipment, special thanks to Sophie and Mina (PTs) ❤️ There's also a women's section for religious and shy girlies

Negative experience: It's a great gym. I think 2 things need to be done though and that's, the cleaning of the gym equipment more often in busier periods and putting weights back as well. And quite a few people are still dropping the heavy weights harshly on the machines so they might break. There definitely needs to be stricter rules on that. But I suppose you can't have it all Edit: a 24/7 means open everyday of the year. But this seens to be not the case here. I arrived at the gym knowing it will close at 4pm. I can still get in a workout and leave at 4pm but got refused to go in. I came from far and rushed to get here. At the end of day, I still pay for the gym and to refused entry 40 mins before closure is absolute nonsense. I will consider another gym. Thanks

Negative experience: Emailed the gym asking for a day pass as recently moved in to the area, was advised by duty manager all good to come in and that they don't offer free passes which is fine as we were willing to purchase it. Arrived to the gym and was told they don't offer day passes. Joke.

Fantastic experience: A big special thank you to personal trainer Abbie from JD gym in Uxbridge , I injured myself in the gym and she attended to me straight away with so much care and support, very polite demeanour and made me feel safe in her hands. Negative experience: JD Gyms Uxbridge claims to be a 24-hour gym, but this is misleading. The changing rooms close at 10pm on weekdays and 8pm on weekends, which severely impacts those of us who go to the gym late after work. To make matters worse, after the changing rooms close, there's only one toilet available for everyone to use. This setup doesn't cater to late-night gym-goers at all. If the gym isn’t fully operational 24/7, this should be clearly stated in their advertising. JD Gyms needs to address these issues or be upfront about the limitations.

Fantastic experience: EDIT: 20th September was my one month anniversary. Huge volume & 4 days rest. I’ve been a member of JD Gyms since 20 August previously I was at Gym Group Uxbridge since 20 January. I’ve been pretty happy and impressed with everything on offer and can make direct comparisons to how it’s better than Gym Group Uxbridge. Even though a personal trainer from there came to JD Gyms and dissed it by saying “it’s not good” but still spent an hour or so doing chest exercises on Tuesday 20 August. I’ve found the gym to be clean. I did not see anything dirty, there is an onsite cleaner, who was there for the duration of my workout. The other gym that I was at for 7 months did not have a dedicated cleaner during peak hours. Their own staff cleaned the treadmills and cycling equipment only. Sweat tends to evaporate in a hot environment, I did not see any streak marks of sweat at the dumbbell area with benches. The gyms layout is not a problem for me. I like how compact it is. It means that no one leaves anything lying on the floor. Not once did I see a single weight lifting plate on the floor next to a machine. By comparison at a bigger gym like Gym Group Uxbridge, I constantly saw weight plates on the floor, and it would take hours for someone from the team to come and clear them. The functional area has some high quality foam mats to do floor workouts eg planks and stretches. With the Eleiko rack setup I was able to do three different barbell workouts across 15kg, 30kg and 45kg weight levels in the same area: Front Barbell Squat to Bench followed by Backward Lunge with Barbell (Superset 1) and Bulgarian Split Squat with Barbell and Step Up with Dumbell (Superset 2) There’s a sitting pad that you can stand on, and it’s also for foot placement when doing Bulgarian Split Squats, and sitting with a loaded barbell. I could even do Landmines 180 by inserting a bar in the corner of the Eleiko rack. I did not see any broken machines, there was no sign saying out of service and if there were then it’s easier for an advanced user like myself to do an alternate exercise. There is no need for filtered water in the gym. Tap water is just fine, there was only one town in the U.K. called Devon that had issues with tap water due to a parasite called Cryptosporidium. So for someone to make a sweeping statement that there’s health concerns with U.K. tap water is misinformation at its finest. You can bring a kettle to boil tap water and then a fridge as well to store and cool it. If people are that bothered by tap water, then bring 2 litres of your own from home or the local Tesco metro. Even Gym group have tap water that isn’t filtered, as it’s already filtered at the water plant and UKHSA does safety checks any way. Gym Group have Yanga Sports water that’s artificially sweetened but that’s more money. The lack of classes is a good thing. From what I’ve observed at Gym Group Uxbridge, the classes were always beginner level classes. This is why it’s free for a reason, if you want to progress to intermediate and advanced you would have to pay a trainer for their personal time. The classes do not cater to peoples strength, everyone does the same thing. I like the colour scheme. The dark colours are good. It gives the gym an air of seriousness. On the other hand the colour scheme for Gym Group is like something out of a childrens TV show, like Teletubbies. Lastly, I’m glad that the changing rooms and locker rooms close at night. The lockers inside JD gyms are of such high quality and so spacious. At Gym Group Uxbridge and Gym Group Wembley Park, inconsiderate gym goers were storing their items overnight, only for the staff to break the locks in the early hours of the morning and thereby damaging the lockers in the process. They didn’t replace damaged lockers when I was there for 7 months. It would be a shame if people did that at JD Gyms. Thankfully not. In conclusion, JD gyms has the equipment that works. Users need to have a little patience and creativity when planning their workout. I will stay with JD gyms for the foreseeable future.

Positive experience: **Review for JD Gym** I've been a member of JD Gym for a while, and unfortunately, my experience has been disappointing. One of the biggest concerns is the cleanliness of the equipment. Many machines are often dirty, and it's clear that they aren't being cleaned regularly. This issue is compounded by the lack of paper, tissues, and sanitizers throughout the gym, making it nearly impossible to properly clean the equipment before and after use. Hygiene is crucial in a gym environment, and this situation needs urgent attention. The gym's layout is another problem. The space is crammed with too many machines, leaving very little room for stretching or functional exercises. It's frustrating trying to find a spot to warm up or cool down without feeling like you're in someone's way. The overcrowded setup not only makes the gym feel claustrophobic but also limits the variety of workouts you can do comfortably. To make matters worse, a significant amount of the equipment is out of use because it's broken. Some machines have been out of order for over two weeks, which adds to the frustration as there are fewer working options available, especially during peak times. This lack of maintenance is unacceptable for a gym that should prioritize the functionality of its equipment. Additionally, there's no filtered water available—only tap water. Given the health concerns surrounding tap water in the UK, it's surprising and disappointing that a facility focused on health and fitness doesn't offer filtered water to its members. This is something that should be addressed to ensure members have access to clean, safe drinking water. Finally, for the monthly fee that you pay for this gym, it's disappointing that JD Gym doesn't offer any classes. There are other gyms in the area that charge the same amount—or even less—yet they provide a variety of fitness classes as part of the membership. This makes JD Gym seem overpriced for what it offers in comparison. Overall, while JD Gym has potential, these issues with cleanliness, space, broken equipment, lack of filtered water, and the absence of classes significantly detract from the experience. I hope they make the necessary improvements soon.

Negative experience: It did not live up to the hype unfortunately. Positives: Plenty of cycle parking just outside the gym. There is free parking available, though I have not personally used it. The app login works (I've had issues in other 24 hr gym with similar access). Negatives: The equipment is crowded, the gym feels very confined. The changing room closes after 22:00 on weekdays and 20:00 during weekends - this is meant to be a 24 hr gym...?

Negative experience: I recently joined the new JD Gym, hoping for a better experience, but I was disappointed to find the same rude and unhelpful staff from Simple Gym Group. One particular staff member is consistently dismissive and never provides useful answers, often directing me to look online instead. Additionally, the gym’s cancellation policy was misleading. We were initially told we could cancel with a 14-day notice, but now they’re enforcing a 30-day notice period. Despite the new facilities, the poor customer service remains. I would not recommend joining this gym.

Negative experience: The gym has just gone through an ownership transfer where unfortunately quantity over quality has been prioritised throughout the majority of the gym, making it hard to navigate through the gym now because of the volume of equipment coupled with the volume of members to match. No means of cleaning the equipment, old equipment has been recycled and still have the same faults with them, layout is not the best and the lighting needs improving. Shame because although the gym under previous ownership was not the best, it served its purpose whereas now it is designed and targeted towards increasing profitability as a priority and neglecting the practicality and experience in the gym.

Negative experience: Just another franchise gym. Only very commercial machines and lots of machines missing (example just for legs: hammerstring, calves, abduction and aduction), dumbells left everywhere, total messy. Free parking also not good, 10min walking. Good points, some nice back and quads machines, like pendulum and belt squat, and the already mounted straight and W bars.

Negative experience: Nice gym BUT the free parking solution in the Chimes isn't feasible. After finding a space, getting out of the centre then walking back and forth to the gym takes 25 minutes which is not realistic for anyone with limited time available to train. The free parking would make much more sense if made available in the Grainges which is a 2 minute walk.

Positive experience: The gym and shower rooms look very good. Please for infection control purposes Covid 19 is still around can the management team provide antivirus spray and tissues to wipe down people's sweat from machines? My worry is infection control for health and safety with people who have underlying health issues to catch COVID-19. Please provide spray and wipe.

Fantastic experience: Gym opened today. I'm impressed with the refurbishment the interior is much more modern than Simply Gym. Air conditioning is very good, plenty of machines to use and it's clean. I didn't have enough time to explore throughout but what I've seen it's a great improvement.

Negative experience: Today NOT impressed. There has been no soap in the ladies toilet, since Saturday! Their excuse, the soap dispensers don't work! I suggested, very politely, that they pop to the shops and buy some! If this is their opinion on hygiene, what is the rest of the gym like? Especially as now paper towels and sprays have all been removed due to the policy of the new owners. ☹️

I went to another gym while waiting so I can now compare and they had more uses for their app. I wish the air con was much more stronger. Only really feel it if you're under it, so its super hot in the gym especially during summer.

Negative experience: Do not even bother wasting your time… your money… or pre workout… it’s a dungeon to start with not a single window and the lights must be dimmed to save electricity on their tight budget. Cables pulley systems are stiff as they come and machines might get fixed by the end of the year… joined in June managed to use the leg extension machine ONCE, we are now in November the out of service paper was collecting dust. Weight section is for ever a mess, CHUNKS of the weights it’s self are missing, someone got hungry mid-set, and that’s IF you can find a pair of them. They rope you in for a minimum term of 6 months, so you can’t cancel once you step foot inside Never in my life have I written a review but this place needed it

Negative experience: If I could give zero stars I would…… absolutely SHOCKED by how rude the staff are. Shocked. I witnessed an argument today where the customer was clearly in the right and the staff member was speaking so disgustingly and clearly aiming to provoke and humiliate the customer in front of other gym-goers. Absolutely no professionalism. Said to her “get out of MY gym” (I am certain this is not her gym), “nobody wants you here”. I felt sorry for the woman, who at that point was clearly trying to hold herself together. By the threats and language used by the staff it leads to the conclusion that this was a provoked racial attack against the customer. Will not be coming here again…… I have never seen such terrible customer service and lack of professionalism in my life. Not even thieves at stores have been spoken to like this. Do not work with customers if this is your attitude. And a shame, too, with being the only gym in the area with a females-only section, I’d expect more inclusivity. If you are thinking of signing up here, be careful. Also. The stuff here is tacky anyway. Would be better off with puregym.

Positive experience: In terms of aesthetics it has improved a lot since it was Rush, today I went in after sometime maybe more for the nostalgia & to see what changes have been done. Now I’m just gonna call how it is - excellent equipment & machines despite it being very busy when I went I still had somewhat of a good session, the staff were welcoming when I came entered etc. So what let it down for me, since leaving Simply Gym Uxbridge formerly Rush Fitness in all the gyms I been too since leaving here the weights, plates & everything in between is usually put back in it’s place & the gyms I’m use to being in are generally quite tidy & everything is put in it’s place. As much as I hate to admit it even PureGym in Hayes is generally a lot more in order even during its busy times, I just hope the management & staff do more as this really let Simply Gym down, hopefully I’ll be back again soon but there would need to be a lot of improvements in them areas in order for me to even consider returning.

Negative experience: Worst Gym in the area. Staff is very rude . Specially the trainers . They don’t know how to speak to members or person who want to join gym . Very rude staff specially personal trainer named Van deer.

Fantastic experience: Come here in the mornings. Locker room is clean. They open nice and early (6AM). The music they play is great, so I never put earbuds in. Nice to give my ears a rest. The equipment and space availability in the morning is great. Showers heat up quick. You don't need to carry around a membership card to get in. I'm a tad surprised they've only got one machine for back hyperextensions, but I've yet to wait for it, so it's not taking away any points from this review, nor are the haphazardly put away weight plates in the lifting spaces--it hasn't taken away from my session yet. Definitely better than Brunel Gym, if you're considering it. Both are super busy after 17.00. This one is first and foremost (much) better equipped.

Fantastic experience: Joined beginning of February and this is the first time I have kept at it by going 3-4 times a week. Fantastic gym, great prices & the instructors are great. Especially Stephanie, Asta, Alkana & Debbie. Richard and the girls at the front are great too. I hope I keep this up!!

Positive experience: Would be a great gym as it's full of great equipment and lots of it, very spacious too and they make the most of it so you rarely have a wasted gym session. What let's it down is the fact it's always a mess, with weights left all over the place and good luck if you're in need of loo roll. Makes you wonder what the people who work there do..

Positive experience: Pros - Convenient location from Uxbridge town centre - Variety of free classes to suit your needs - Air conditioned throughout in the summer - Plenty of cardio machines spread across two floors Cons - Price is not competitive (£23.99pm) as this is currently the only gym in Uxbridge town centre - Can benefit from regular cleaning (gym floor / equipment and changing rooms are always dirty) - Broken and unusable equipment (machines / lockers) is not well maintained and takes a long time to fix - Very poor gym etiquette and no respect for gym rules. People slamming weights constantly, not returning equipment after use, littering, filming without your consent

Negative experience: When I asked the Muslim girl in the staff room for help, she immediately responded in a rude and sarcastic manner. I have never seen such horrible behaviour from member of staff in my life.

Negative experience: It's the first gym I used in the UK and to be honest I thought the standards was that low around here. It's mostly all right in terms of staff and equipment. However I think some people doesn't behave properly in terms of attitude to others and to the equipment. As well it's constantly dirty and grim. Mainly in the changing room. However, I don't know any better options

Positive experience: an okay gym, can get much better for the price elsewhere, but since its close and i have no time as a school student to go elsewhere, i have no choice. the gym itself is messy at most times, toilets and changing rooms stink, can get pretty crowded (not at the fault of the staff) and the music is horrendous, really need to refresh it and get rid of this weird clubbing playlist with these dreadful remixes. other than that, equipment selection is good but you find yourself waiting a while for some. its an okay gym. thats really it

Negative experience: Today I was in the gym a trying to move a chair, a black guy started bullying and swearing me and He did not allow me to use the machines well. I moved to other part of the gym for using the other machines that another guy was using , I asked if they have finished using it, they mentioned the black guy to me, then he came and said to me" you see every body asks me before using the gym equipment " horrible place to be. I complained about that to the asian Girl, she told me she will speak with the bullier. That is terrible, terrible place to go. Don't waste your money on such a rubbish place.

Fantastic experience: I cannot understand the bad reviews on here. Since the moment I have joined I have found all of the staff very friendly. I only do the classes which there are plenty of. Stephanie has lifted my mood when I have felt down, she is awesome! Asta Alkana and Debbie are also terrific instructors. I have paid a lot of money for gyms in the past however this one completely suits my needs and does the job at a very competitive rate. Thanks Richard and team

Fantastic experience: Recent upgrades to the gym has made it so much better to train now. Lots more free weights and machines for a good solid workout for beginners and gym regulars. Also has good workout music pumping throughout the gym to get you going! Would definitely recommend this gym.

Negative experience: Simply gym is the worst ever with poor customer service. Have been receiving daily harassing emails and texts from ACT credit threatening me that they would take me to court for my debt. Attending only once, I paid one month and membership fees upfront and I was so disappointed of my visit so decided that I didn't want to visit ever again. Overcrowded classes and dirty rooms, plus no available changing rooms and of course there was no attentive staff to help with any queries. I wanted to cancel my membership due to my disappointed experience and they never reply to phone calls. There is no email address online to reach out and cancel your membership. This gym ties you on contract. Rip off staffs both the gym and the Harland collection team. They are billing me with administration charges and have told them to cancel my membership yet this has not been cancelled. Thief. This gym should be close for extortion. I have been receiving almost everyday text messages, emails and even billing letters from the debt collectors, harassing me at work and stressing me to pay £130.00 !!!!!! For what? An appalling service and a dodgy contract with T&Cs written in small letters?

Negative experience: I don’t have much complaints with the gym but the staff, specifically the Muslim girl is horrible, she is mostly on her phone all the time and when me or my mates ask for help, she rudely declines saying she’s on her phone Ofcourse I can see That but isn’t part of your job helping the people around in the gym? You might as well keep 12 blocks off wood instead of her, both of em would effectively do the same job without much help being absolutely useless.

Negative experience: Personally i dont have a problem with the gym, the broken door and stuff like that is more annoying than anything else. Its not a big deal. I wouldnt say there is a particular culture when it comes to cleaning equipment so if thats a problem for you then i guess id keep that in mind, im clean so it doesnt matter to me. My problem is that i paid for 1 month and i find out not only am i tied in for another month regardless but i have to pay an extra £25 for admin fees for missed payment. I have no problems going to the gym again tbh. I like the instructors and the staff are actually nice contrary to some of the other comments ive seen. But it should be made more clear that getting in a one month actually meant a two months contract. Especially if you arent a person that keeps money in their current account and manually transfers it when you need it. I tried to call up the lady just said its not her up to her and all she can do for me is have a debt collector come for the full amount even though im willing to pay my next month gym membership. So keep that in mind.

Negative experience: If your workouts are not hardcore enough, try coming to this gym, because getting hold of a machine is a workout in itself. Simply Gym specialises in obstacle training because there is no space to move, yet all of Uxbridge’s students socialise here. If all of the above did not motivate you hear this: The entrance door does not work so, you have to queue up to enter or leave :) And lets not start on the hygiene standards

Negative experience: The gym isn’t bad, but the stuff is horrible! With this bad attitude, every time you pass from reception they give you that look that they speak about you. Not sure about male but the female are horrible. Very unpleasant and unwelcoming! Can’t wait for new gym to open so we can leave!

Positive experience: The gym was good until they sold and moved one of the power racks away and left the gym with hardly any squat racks terrible bars. The bumper plates in the PIT are a joke. You can only load a bar to 170 with them. The manager is also a bit creepy n very rude. However the girls in reception are really nice they are super friendly. #getridofrichard

Negative experience: 7/10 times you won’t find a dumbbell that you need. Also, a staff member was rude and left abruptly when we asked her to unlock the changing room on which had our items on a Sunday night. She said that the cleaners will come in 2 hours and barged off the gym.

Fantastic experience: I join this gym last week and I am happy to start a healthy life again. I am more focused on Zumba and yoga ‍♀️ They have female gym also and. Ore activities to do. For 1 year it’s 21 pound per month. Which is flexible and it’s 24/7 gym.

Negative experience: unbelievable rubbish gym cause of many reason : rude manager who doesn’t know anything about management so I have no idea who put him in roll suppose to be more dumb also PT didn’t train to deal with issues & haven’t knowledge Only cleaning team are doing job in this gym not any one else About changing area those photo shows it’s not any more changing area and no any safe place to leave your clothes so you need carry all your belongings with you any where you want do any item or exercise it’s so mad There is no space to change imagine you came gym and of course cause of cold weather you wear more clothes so you have no any privacy and also you need to change front of people so what about ladies they only go to only one toilet in gym which is always dirty, tap is broken and it’s too low so you can’t wash your hand About free weight area I need add note if you’re looking any pair of dumbbells you must be so lucky to find a pair it cause it’s everywhere in gym can be found like even next to treadmill Now you rate it guys how is symply rubbish gym lockers ! I wouldn’t give even 1 If any machine is broke down, it’s take so long to fix

Negative experience: Not happy with Uxbridge simply gym Only a pair of each dumbbell, seated leg curl is out of order for a while and there isn’t Lying leg curl, Last month there was no water to drink for a week, very busy in the first days of the week and because of equipment shortage a session takes long and no body is responsible here Just waisted my leg day

Negative experience: I am not going to mention half of the equipments are off, dirty and the air con that is switched off in the gym but freezing cold in the changing rooms. What annoyed me the most is that for “out of hours” visit they have only ONE toilet which is closed most of the time!!!!! How can you not have a toilet open in a gym?!?!?

Negative experience: AVOID! horrible customer service!! Just called in to ask if I can come in and have a workout and see how the gym is as I was referred to this gym by a friend, the lady "Philipa" said I have to pay £8 for a day pass which I responded to "isn't it possible to come and test the equipments before I purchase a membership without having to purchase a day pass" she responded "well you can't go to tesco and drink the milk for free just to test it." What an absolute joke of a customer service. Is this how you train your staff to talk to customers? You have lost yourself a customer! Absolute joke!
