  • Clean Facilities: The pool, sauna, and steam room, although needing some attention, have generally received positive remarks regarding cleanliness.

Negative experience: I had booked a spa day for two, which included massage treatments. We had difficulty locating the spa, as it wasn’t where the postcode on Google Maps indicated. About 15 minutes before our scheduled appointment, I called the spa desk to inform them we were struggling to find the location and asked for assistance. They advised us to look for a golf course, which was a 5-minute drive from where Google had dropped us. As a result of the confusion, we arrived slightly late. To our surprise, instead of greeting us, the receptionist immediately led us to the spa facilities and casually mentioned that since we were 10 minutes late, we would need to choose which area of the body we wanted the massage on, as they could only provide a 20-minute session instead of the full 45-minute treatment (which was supposed to include back, head, and foot massages). The back massage itself was good, though it still felt rushed, and the foot massage felt more like a quick rub than an actual treatment. Additionally, they do not provide towels, bathrobes, or slippers, which was unusual, and they charged us for towels. The entire experience felt more rushed and stressful rather than relaxing. When I questioned the shortened massage time, the spa manager was unhelpful and rude, dismissing it by stating that it wasn’t the spa’s responsibility since I had booked through Virgin Experience, and that it was their issue.

Bannatyne Health Club and Spa
Bannatyne Health Club and Spa

Hi Shaheena, Thanks for taking the time to give feedback, I'd like to address some of the points you have raised. The postcode provided by Virgin was correct and it does direct you to the entrance of our club. Due to you arriving late, the treatment start time was delayed. We are a very busy spa, meaning we cannot adjust our other guests treatment times to accommodate late arrivals. You were kindly escorted to the Spa by one of our therapists to ensure that you could make the most of your remaining treatment time. The hire charge for the spa bag is also mentioned within your welcome email. Many Thanks, Max Assistant General Manager

Fantastic experience: Visited here today and it was lovely! We used the jacuzzi, the pool and steam room in the morning and all were lovely and as a whole wasn’t overcrowded! Some little things needed some attention like the deco however all the facilities were in working order. We then had massages with Casey And Geraldine (I believe that’s their names) the massages were very relaxing and we felt brand new when leaving the spa! I don’t understand the bad reviews that have been given however I did come across members moaning about the service and facilities. On a whole I really enjoyed my time here and it was a great value for money. All staff were brilliant other than blonde young girl when we walked in who wasn’t very helpful but other than that the staff couldn’t have done anymore to help. We will be back! Thank you

Negative experience: Booked a spa day for valentines. Received an email from the spa manager name Kara Houston on the 4th of February saying that they are understaff and they can’t do my treatment I have ask for the full refund and suddenly no one is answering to me. I have called 3 days in a row since the 5th of February the sending me around saying that the manager is not there or we will call you back. How unprofessional is this how weird is this to ask for my money and not able to have any information on the process. Why do I have to call to chase my refund when they supposed to reassure me and let me know about it. what a shame for a manager who can’t even answer back an email. Wonder why there’s not staff at this spa. Never been there and never will. When comes to take your money it’s instant when it’s time to give it back suddenly no one is available. Very disappointing.

Negative experience: We booked a spa ‘treat’ and wanted to swim before our massages but the pool was closed for a class. I asked why that wasn’t specified beforehand, so we could have chosen a different slot, and the guy on reception flatly said “it’s used as a spa and a fitness centre, and it’s on every Monday.” It wasn’t really a sufficient explanation for a non-regular customer, nor a warm greeting after we’d spent lots of money to visit. We paid for a 40 minute massage, however we were in and out in half an hour. Again, I asked the man on reception about this and he said it was “half an hour hands on massage” and that I needed to read the small print. I have, and I’m frankly blown away by this deception, I’ve never seen this before. They should be advertising the massage as being half an hour long - it really makes you feel like you’ve been ripped off, losing a quarter of your relaxation time to ‘small print’.

Negative experience: Bought 2 £75 ‘spa day’ here for my daughter’s 21st birthday and I. And it was just sooo sad. So I paid £150 in total for the 2 of us to have a spa day………….. we arrived and realised it was a leisure centre! We were sat like fools in our dressing gowns just off of the reception desk at the cafe for all of our time there 10am-5pm the pool was full with swimming lessons and lane swimming the whole day! So busy we could not swim. same with the Luke-warm hot tub. Asked to bring our lunch forward as we didn’t want to be there. They agreed. Food was extremely basic and cold when it came out. We ask for our treatment to be bought forward so we could just leave. They refused, so we had to spend the whole day waiting around in our dressing gowns in the cafe, paying for and drinking the small bottles of Prosecco as they didn’t even have the normal sized bottles in stock. Anyway long story short do not come here to relax or think it’s any type of spa because it is not. It is a basic leisure centre. The staff could not care less when we bought up these issues. It has ruined her 21st and we are very disappointed.

Negative experience: Avoid at all costs! Booked a full day of treatment for me and my partner only to be rang on the day to say that nobody was available to carry out any treatments and that it’s was cancelled. We were told we would get a call to reschedule but 1 month on and no call has been made, emails are ignored by staff who are clearly trying to avoid taking any responsibility. After speaking to the manager marina today she confirmed a complete lack of customer care and admitted their services were currently a complete shambles. She also avoided all talk of a refund and was happy to discuss how all their reception staff were new and completely incompetent. Save yourself the time and a stressful experience and avoid this place.

Negative experience: The club heavily caters for the older members and seems to actively discourage families. Children's swim times are incredibly limited and space is heavily restricted and often overcrowded. Other members can be very rude and abusive to children. The staff are doing their best but despite frequent requests they don't seem to want to cater more to families. All this despite a children's membership being the most expensive per hour of access.

Hi Ceri, Thank you for the review. Although we cater for children swim on the weekend, we are predominantly an adults club. Thanks Paul General Manager

Positive experience: Had a lovely massage , staff was helpful and nice , building on another hand needs a refurb , paint is coming of , toilets are very old and they shouldn't show new people a swimming pool area from the spa , just not very relaxing when you waiting for your treatment and group of people walking around like tourists , there needs to be another way.

liam webb 7 months ago

Negative experience: Not a good experience. Very expensive membership fees and they do not have any reminders of automatically renewing memberships, meaning if you are even 1/2 days into the month and you can no longer use the gym, you have to pay for that month and also the month after. This is considered a breach of the consumer rights act 2015, however all they care about is securing another £100 from your bank account. You will be harassed with emails, phone calls and text messages chasing you up about this and it is relentless and could certainly be considered harassment. Find a gym that cares about it's customers and you'll have a better experience than I did. Lesson learnt.

Negative experience: The club is resting on its laurels due to the lack of competition. Standards slipping for a number of months. Management do not respond to feedback. Family swim times now limited to 1/3rd of one lane as the club looks to make more money from third party private lessons. Massively overcrowded and overworked staff who do their best to put a smile on their face despite working under such difficult circumstances.

Negative experience: By far the dirtiest spa/gym club I’ve ever been to, the gents changing rooms were covered in mud and the toilets were nothing short of disgusting. Staff were pleasant but can’t say that customer service was high on their agenda. Treatments requested weren’t available and the service in the cafe was abysmal. The gym is severely lacking when it comes to cleanliness and attention to detail. It’s a tired building with disengaged staff. If you can go elsewhere then do it.

Negative experience: Look I get it the staff are making the best out of a bad situation so Im not complaining about staffs attitude, they were friendly and helpful. The two massage therapists that tended to me and my partner were great and did an amazing and relaxing massage. However that's where the good times end. The facilities are sparse and the ones they do have are over crowded and barely functional. If your jaccuzi hot tub isn't hot then it's just a cold bubble bath with strangers. Seriously the clues in the name. If you want a glorified leisure center this is the place. If you're looking for a spa day with all the bells and whistles Bath spa is a 30min drive or train ride away from Bristol.

Negative experience: Firstly this is not a SPA facility and spa packages should not be sold for this venue! This is a little local leisure centre for the local wealthy oldies who frequent during the day. The staff are amazing and sadly the only friendly faces you'll see. Please never ask for the cream tea, you'll thank me! Massage however was fabulous.

Negative experience: Not Worth the Membership Fees I've originally joining Bannatyne over other gyms because of its advertised pool, sauna, and steam room facilities. Unfortunately, the reality has fallen far short of expectations. Cleanliness and Maintenance: Across the border the cleaning standards are very low. The sauna has become unbearable as yesterday the 5th of November it was smelling of pure Urine. The way this was addressed was mop the floors in easy-access areas, which made no difference, when obviously it needed a deep clean. Also It’s also not hot enough, as I’ve found myself sitting in there for 45 minutes without sweating, which is frankly unacceptable. When I raised this issue with staff, I was told it’s “normal,”. The Steam room has a persistent mouldy smell, but most recently, it actually smelled like “gone-off mushroom”. Pool Temperature Issues: The pool is freezing cold, so much so that it’s uncomfortable for adults and unbearable for children. My young daughter shivers after just a couple of minutes in the pool, which is supposed to be an enjoyable experience and one of the main reasons why I did join the club. I once tried to warm her up after her lip turned a dark blu and she becomes very pale by letting her dip her legs in the whirlpool, but a staff member quickly told us off even printing out the entire terms and conditions with the rules highlighted to hand to my girlfriend in the bar area. This response felt excessive, rude, and dismissive, especially given that pool temperature complaints are common both at reception and online. As usual they dismiss all complain saying the pool temperature is monitored and "Normal" Also you my find mould on the changing room panels and shower soap dispensers. Overall Experience: This poll side facility are smelly, outdated, and poorly managed. Between the lukewarm sauna that doesn’t work as it should, a frigid pool, and a dismissive staff, there’s really nothing left to justify the high membership fees. If you’re considering joining, save yourself the disappointment and go somewhere else—somewhere that values its members and keeps its facilities up to standard.

Negative experience: I have been a full time member of this gym for 2 years now, mainly using the pool and poolside facilities. I have a few minor quibbles generally, considering the cost of membership , however my biggest issue is with the relentless pool closures due to glass breakages on the poolside! This has occured no less than 4 times this year, (twice in the last month alone) putting the pool out of action for up to a week at a time!! Bannatynes staff seem incapable of policing this or putting any kind of workable policies in place to stop it from happening, and as a result loads of people are missing out on the facilities they have paid up front for. On top of this, there is no apology from staff ("it's the members fault"), no offer of any recompense and no response from management when contacted. If you're thinking of joining to access the pool..i wouldn't bother.

Negative experience: I am deeply disappointed by my recent experiences at this gym. I initially joined expecting a safe, clean, and welcoming environment, but what I encountered was the complete opposite. First, the staff’s behavior was shockingly rude. During a recent visit, I made the mistake of allowing my child to enter the hot tub, which I acknowledged was against the rules. I immediately apologized for the oversight, but the manager’s response was utterly unprofessional. He shouted at me to get out, giving us no reasonable time to comply, and later handed me the terms and conditions as if I couldn’t understand them. This treatment felt incredibly condescending and disrespectful. No one should be made to feel like they’re being spoken to as if they’re stupid. Secondly, there are serious safety hazards at this gym. I injured my foot on a loose screw from a broken locker, and when I informed the manager, he brushed it off, saying it was “not his problem.” This complete lack of concern for member safety is unacceptable. To make matters worse, the facility is filthy. I developed verrucas from using the showers, and my partner contracted a fungal infection. The gym even admitted they hadn’t had any cleaning staff for months – not even using an agency! The neglect in maintaining basic hygiene standards is outrageous and poses a serious health risk to all members. This place is a disaster waiting to happen – rude management, unsafe facilities, and absolutely no care for cleanliness. I would strongly advise anyone considering this gym to stay far away. It’s not worth the risk to your health or well-being.

Negative experience: My experience with Bannatyne is unfortunately very negative in all the ways .one ,the gym is overcrowded, swimming pool the water is so could ,I had my 2little girls after with chest infection when we been in the water .we were shivering so we didn't enjoy at all.then the staff is very poorly. Plus my husband for an health problem couldn't go more so we frozen our membership but my husband still was charged for that.I was having a chat with the manager all sorted ,lots of apologies and promised that my husband will be refunded. Well that refund never been made ,so shame on you for stealing from people.Well done ,amazing staff and imagined that all this was saying by a Manager ,what can you expect from a staff .

Negative experience: Very poor experience with bannatynes, mascarading as an up market gym. Payed an eye watering £75 a month for bristol where the gym is tiny. Less than half the size of facilities at Birmingham or Solihull which are only £45 a month. Made an absolute dogs dinner of my attempt to switch my membership with a friend when i went traveling in Asia. Eventually got an email back months later from head office offering an apology after inter-departmental confusion, by which time my friend had moved on and i had to freeze membership for £10 a month. When trying to quit after my 12 months had finished, they told me they have a 30 day notice clause. A clear attempt to syphon an extra 13th months payment off customers who are unaware (If they have not thoroughly read the Ts and Cs) none of the industry competition do this and it is completely un-excusable and un-orthodox practice in this digital era. Also the online portal does not give you an option to end your membership, Bannatynes deliberately obfuscate the process and force you to contact them, very frustrating if you have a busy schedule. Assumably in an attempt to sway you to stay (As they say in their own emails) however it is the customers choice and this is intrusive behavior at best. Again industry competition have this feature on their online portal. When you have an enquiry such as about bringing guests with you, nobody answers. on the phone and sometimes forced to contact head office to shake a response out of them. After moving back to birmingham i will think twice about renewing with Bannatynes in October as i do like the birmingham and solihull facilities, however potentially David lloyd or Virgin offer a smoother experience which doesn’t leave me feeling thoroughly mugged off.

Negative experience: The standards here are low considering especially the cost of attending. This is the third or fourth time in 6 months they've had to close the pool due to glass being found (?!). The gym is small and cluttered, every machine is in use so you can never follow a planned routine, you have to just wait until something is free. The opening times could be a little bit longer ideally - 6-11 would be a bit better. All of the changing and showering facilities are really due an upgrade - sometimes on a warm morning the womens showers smell of sewage, there are gaps between the linoleum and concrete floors that create weird holes in the floors of the showers. The pool temperature can be really inconsistent! When I first started it was too hot, then too cold, although they seem to have started evening out again luckily The classes are always booked up in minutes - and they cancelled the classes on weekdays mornings around 7:30/40 so I can no longer do a morning class as they're either too early or too late (would really benefit from staggering the timetables between the two rooms). The good notes are the staff are pleasant and the pool is very nice (when it's open) but I really hope they sort it out. I've had an email my membership price is increasing, and I'll be switching gyms if nothing changes - Horfield Leisure is undergoing a massive refurb and is half the price...

Hi Holly, I’m sorry you’ve had a poor experience here. Closing the pool is the last thing I want to do, however members not following rules will inevitably cause this, we have found and fined the culprits. We are governed by the local council regarding our opening times due to being in a residential area. Please send me an email [email protected] and I’d be happy to organise a coffee to ensure your points are heard. Thanks Paul General Manager

Positive experience: Hi Bannatyne team. It's been 4 out of 5 weeks that I come to the gym in the morning (7:30ish) and the sauna and steam room aren't hot. It didn't used to be like this but please can you let us know if this was in mistake or you have a new policy to turn it on later? The sauna is the main reason I come to your gym and I can often only go in the morning so would be good to know. Thanks Ry

Fantastic experience: Today I received a back, facial, arms, feet massage and treatment from Nicola. She was an absolute star, such an expertise on her field. Brilliant technique and firm pressure was used. She worked effectively on muscle cramps as well as made me relaxed at the same time. 5 starts to her!

Negative experience: Rubbish to be fair, purchased a spa package for three of us, they just didn't seem to care, we were left without direction, half the package not given, the voucher promised not offered. We were there to be pampered, not chase how to do things, the customer care is awful, for a rather run down, slightly grubby place. Definitely not the luxury pamper we paid and expected.

Negative experience: The staff carrying out the treatments were lovely and a very relaxing experience. Long wait for simple food, which made us late for our appointments and was cold when arrived. We have been too much better Spa Days and would advertise as a leisure centre not a Spa Experience.

Negative experience: The gym is small and overcrowded. The jacuzzi is often broken / closed. The sauna or steam room will randomly not be hot some days. Changing rooms are often dirty. Shower area is very dirty and there is mould on the ceiling. Today my shower just stopped working whilst I was halfway through washing. There has been no shower gel in any of the showers twice in the last two weeks. Reception don’t pick up the phone, even when it’s quiet. Edit: I’ve lowered this from 2 starts to 1 because the gym is humid, covered in condensation, and even the weights are wet. Muddy water all over the changing room floor today. Genuinely the worst gym / health club I’ve been to.

Negative experience: Mediocre at best, the £10 for robe and towel is non refundable and this was not made clear at the desk. The hot tub was out of order with no explanation of this or signage that it didn't work. The treatment room is very warm, the people working there are very unprofessional and talk as if you are not there.

Negative experience: Had a gift spa day. Unable to contact reception ringing 5 times and 2 contact forms. No reply from General manager when i was asked to email him. The Jacuzzi bubbles wasn’t working and it felt like a leisure centre. Expensive for that Massage was firm and good. Some staff were lovely

Positive experience: Staff were amazingly helpful and kind, can't fault customer service. The treatment I had was excellent, and the facilities were clean and well kept. The only few faults are if its busy, it's hard to relax as the pool/sauna etc aren't very big

Positive experience: I have been a member at Bannatynes Bristol for around 5 years now and it’s safe to say that I have vocalised my dissatisfaction with standards and the facilities at the club on multiple occasions in that time. However, I would like to commend the current staff for how well they have turned it around in recent months. From the front desk, to the gym and fitness staff, to the cleaners, they have all contributed in the significant improvements seen around the place. It is now a friendly and relaxed environment, whilst also remaining professional and I would recommend a visit or joining up - something I definitely couldn’t have said in 2023.

Negative experience: Avoid the spa if you're black with afro hair! Had the masseuse spread oil throughout my dreadlocks causing a level of substance build up I've literally never had in my hair. Simply don't trust them to have a basic understanding of non-white haircare. As a basic rule of thumb our hair actually is a lot more delicate and it's needs are often the opposite of Caucasian hair. We tend to take very good care of it daily, so do not add in more substances without asking

Positive experience: Was gifted a spa day for two. Very excited as never experienced this kind of thing. Quite nervous too as didn’t know what to expect. Easy to find. Lots of parking. Receptionist was great and put us at ease. Another lady showed us the way. Massages were great. Lovely ladies. However I think my expectations of a private spa were a lot higher as in reality I feel this location needs a lot of money spent on its appearance and pool/sauna/steam rooms. It has local council leisure centre vibes. Plus the added bonus of my daughter being put in an awkward situation of 3 old men sat in sauna with her making sexual comments. Not impressed. I do now have the spa day bug but will look elsewhere in future.

Negative experience: Despite the great staff this place has become non-viable as a gym. I have been a member on and off for a few years. The setting is nice, and the gym equipment is of high quality. But, it's all meaningless as there is little possibility to use it. In the ever increasing membership drive, there is now little chance of the use of any gym equipment during the day. At 7am on opening, it is only half full, so there is a 50% chance of using the machines which you want. By 8am, 100% are in use. Every class is fully booked within 5 minutes of the class booking coming online. Half of the showers don't work, the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi are often not working or too full to enter. It's just not good enough for 100 pounds a month.

Positive experience: I’ve been coming here for around a year now and it’s mixed reviews. I’ve noticed over the past couple of weeks things have started to go downhill. There used to be a regular cleaning attendant in the changing rooms - that doesn’t seem to happen anymore and the floors are often dirty. Gym is often overcrowded after work, along with the pool/sauna. I also sense that staff morale isn’t as brilliant as it could be. Two instructors Carlton and Niko brought such good energy to both their classes and on the gym floor - they’ve unfortunately left. They do have an excellent outsourced fully qualified Yoga instructor whose classes are fab and the highlight of Bannatyne, I try and attend twice a week, which is good value for membership price. Rob’s classes are also great, and he takes the time to chat and get to know you.

Fantastic experience: The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the receptionist showed us around as we hadn’t been here before which was nice. The spa trip was a present for me and my partner and we had a wonderful day! Definitely would go back :)

Negative experience: Relaxing spa day, but dirty pool and shower floors. Jacuzzi was cold and a lake of locations to sit around the pool in the group of 3 that was in our party. Good gym equipment, functional and able to complete most of the planned workout, but a small gym area.

Negative experience: Good gym. Well equipped. Had a good time. In general, the place looks nice, comfortable, and decent. The staff is alright. For some reason, I had a feeling some were overworked. The pool is ok. A bit too small. The depth is shallow, which is great for beginning swimmers. But the amount of chlorine in the water and the hot tub is extremely worrying. I did not even soak my head under water, and my eyes were burning just after a few splashes of water coming into my eyes. I googled what is safe chlorine level in the swimming pool UK... "The ideal chlorine level for a pool is between 1-3 parts per million (ppm.). Maintaining your swimming pool effectively means maintaining proper chlorine levels. This is essential for keeping them clean and safe for swimming." And I googled what is safe chlorine level in the swimming pool in EU... " Public swimming pool regulations The combined chlorine (chloramines) must be less than 0.6 ppm." And this is just insane discovery. I used to play water polo where trainings lasted up to 2 hours, constantly being in the water, swimming, without goggles! Without any problem. (In Europe). The chlorine situation needs serious analysis! And although I love saunas, one thing that bothered me a lot is the fact that saunas have no installed water hoses to wash off the sweat from seats from people who sat and sweated before me. No way of cleaning off the sweat is very unhygienic! Unsanitary! I hope someone takes this seriously and makes some improvements.

Negative experience: My sister has been a member of this gym (different owners) for over 20 years. She’s considering leaving because of how terrible it is. I’ve been a member for almost a year. Can’t wait for my membership to expire. Prices are ridiculous, the team has no idea what’s going on, classes keep getting cancelled, hot tub is broken all the time, sauna is always packed, not enough machines, it’s dirty, and the kitchen is closed in the evenings! If you're hungry after kitchen hours you aren’t allowed to eat anything in the dining area either, I’ve resorted to eating in the changing room. Paying almost £80 a month for what exactly?

Negative experience: Having never been to a Bannatyne's before, due to the emphasis of spa packages available at your Bristol site, I thought I would book here as there is a lot of different spa packages available. Upon arrival, we were given the option to hire robes/towels etc. and given brief directions of the centre. We initially wanted to get a drink before heading out to the pool so went to the café, where there were no staff and the member of staff who was working reception had to come over to the café to serve us there. We were then told that the coffee machine was out of order, had been broken for 2 weeks and all they could offer us was a drink out of a very low stocked fridge or a tea. I understand that technology breaks and electricals malfunction, this is out of everyone's control however, to be told it's been out of action for 2 weeks and there are no substitutions is not appealing. The fridge had around 4/5 different options in it, it was over half empty. After this we made our way to the changing rooms to get ready to go to the pool. We went out to the pool and was surprised to see that it is actually just a leisure centre pool, with lane swimming and a maximum of 5/6 sun loungers dotted around the pool area. The space around the pool area wasn't even big enough for the sun loungers to be facing the pool, they are placed sideways so two people cannot even lie next to each other. Normally on a spa day I would spend my day reading a book, listening to a podcast, chatting with friends and relaxing, there is NO WHERE at this spa to do this. If you sat in a sun lounger (if you were able to get one) then you would be so far away from your friend that you wouldn't even be able to have a proper conversation, I couldn’t sit and read as it's so noisy as it is a leisure centre open to the public/members who are lane swimming, bringing their childing for a swim and/or playing in the pool - I have no issue with children playing, but if I was going for a Spa day, I'd expect there to be somewhere quiet and relaxing. I cannot listen to a podcast/audiobook as phones are strictly prohibited outside of the changing rooms. I also cannot do any of these things in the relaxation room as it's too dark to read, I cannot have my phone and it's too quiet to be having a chat with friends. The ONLY place this could potentially happen is on the sofa's by the café, the sofa's which are located in the main reception, with big glass windows overlooking the car park, so if I am sat there in my robe, everyone outside can see, there is no privacy. After we explored the relaxation room for a while which on its own is lovely, we went for lunch. We took a seat and looked at the menu and went up to order our food, to be told that they had no stock and didn't have a delivery for a few days so all they could offer us was a choice of three panini's. This is just not acceptable. What would you have done with someone with allergy's/intolerances? We were hungry so we ordered a panini (still no further drinks on offer so we opted for water) and sat and waited. 25 minutes had passed and we still didn’t have our panini's, there was 1 other person sat in the café at this point and quite frankly, you had already told me you had nothing other than panini's available on the menu, so what could possibly have taken so long? I had to go and ask a member of staff where our food was and it eventually came out around 10 mins later so 35 mins we waited for our lunch. After lunch we went to the jacuzzi which was lovely and warm but fits 4 people comfortably in it and 6 people uncomfortably - not ideal when you're selling spa packages to more than that many people and have members of the public/club members also using it but I understand changing the size of your jacuzzi is not an easy or cheap task, but still disappointing.

Negative experience: Been a member for 3 months, my advice don't bother! Over priced falling apart not enough staff, Sauna is luke warm at best, nit enough kit/machines. The coffee machine has been broken since I joined, more to the point there is never anyone on the cafe to serve even if they have coffee! Tried to voice my concerns in person today but Gave up as there was a queue of people complaining about other issues! You can't even do that! Go to David Lloyd it's not much more!

Positive experience: A mixed experience. Many others have mentioned the lack of cleanliness, and they're absolutely right, it clearly isn't being cleaned in many areas. Reception staff manners and waiting times to get in are also mentioned commonly, and I agree with those things too. Staff seem very demotivated. Many signs of poor management (been a manager nearly 20yrs, I know the signs!), wonder what the area manager does all day, they clearly don't visit the sites they're supposed to manage. However there is a nugget of positivity! The massage I had the best I've ever had by an enormous margin. I didn't catch her name unfortunately, but all 3 stars on my review are because of her! I hadn't been able to turn my head full left or right since my late 20's and assumed the damage was done. Nope! I could feel her working through the knots and bad bits, and now I can look fully left and right again! No pain or strain when doing it either. She is incredibly skilled and I can't say thank you enough for fixing my back, neck and shoulders!

Negative experience: God awful customer service. Basically a scam, booked a spa day and couldn't even use the pool as there was a class on. £7.50 to rent a robe and towel??? Didn't really even feel like a private establishment, not worth the money. Staff on reception absolutely miserable. Had a great time, coming back next month

Negative experience: i would give no stars if i could!! it gone down hill massively over the years, been coming for more then 8 years here.. the price keeps rising however their standard and hygiene has fallen beyond the grade. its not a health spa, more of an expensive version of fitness for less! the staff used me to be nice but this new GM is aggressive, arrogant and rude to members. he tried to size a female up twice, its was like a Friday night pub garden. imagine you trying to complain to someone and hes stood behind with his arms crossed, stood on his little tip toes(trying to make himself big) shoulder shift and back, head up.. all the body language of a man who is about to fight with a woman. the hygiene and cleanliness of the the swimming poor area and especially the changing rooms are vile, mould growing you can tell the showers have not had a good scrub for months as now it is an off-white colour with grime on it. make me just wanna give it good scrub!! The Jacuzzi is always stone cold and full of people dirt. its like sat in a cold dirty bath tub, no point to it. full of bad bacteria. the steam room is cover in a mould, no essence in there just the smell of mould and hot steam. the pool is always cloudy with bits of blueroll floating around. half time i can not swim cuz of how dirty the water is. nasty make me wanna me sick and probably is making us sick. the relaxing room is pointless they turn off the bed over corona and never went back on. so them heated beds are lye just cold tiled bench you can sit on in a quite dark room, no music anymore.

Negative experience: One of the worst experiences I have had with any gym, in fact with any business. The services are always supplied at the minimum level of what they can get away with. For example, the sauna was always too cold until so many people complained that they had to do something about it. The gym is full of outdated cardio equipment nobody uses, while nothing is done about the queues for the useful stations. There is rarely anyone manning the cafe. There's a bell you can press and eventually someone might turn up to serve you. But the most annoying thing is the cheap tricks used to extract money from members. During COVID, the gym was closed and people's memberships were frozen. Fair enough. But then they were automatically unfrozen without sufficient notification, exploiting people who were still unable to use the facilities. Then using threatening debt collection agencies. So much for all in it together! While the options for sign-up are numerous, the ONLY option for cancellation is: Write down a long email address Request cancellation in writing Wait a week for a response Pay a full month's notice, even though you've been a member for several years, are on a rolling contract and have paid many hundreds of pounds beyond the initial contract period.

Negative experience: Nice new machines in the gym, good sized pool and sauna, steam room. The cleanliness though, and the need to squeeze revenue from everything - towels, locker bands etc makes it quite an unsatisfactory experience. More council sports centre vibes than private health club

Negative experience: Terrible hygiene, 4 out of 7 Men’s showers NOT WORKING, pool area floors always filthy and gym equipment lacks consistent maintenance. Huge staff turnover, members unhappy. Fantastic experience: First visit here, we went for a spa treatment that was gifted. Made to feel at home, really friendly staff and members and the facilities in the pool were nice. The spa treatment was out favourite but, the staff were extra attentive and the treatments were just what we needed. I asked a lot of questions beforehand and was given the time and patience in answering them. For us personally, it's over an hour away so we are gutted we can't be regulars. Thanks all

Negative experience: purchased a spa package and arrived with no one at reception desk or cafe to speak to for check in. waited 10 minutes before someone came out and they serviced the last person waiting since they were a member. walked me to the spa and told me to wait there, no one was there as my massage was not scheduled for another hour so found changing rooms on my own. no one showed me around so had to walk back to reception to figure out how to get to the pool which was in the changing rooms (where I came from) treatment started late. asked to fill out the questionnaire again even though i did it online. and checked the time to see if it was carried over and it was actually cut short so paid for 25 min massage that was 15 mins. for midday it was packed. nice facilities - sauna, steam room and pool. if you’re comfortable sitting with strangers. gym was very small - fight to use equipment.

Fantastic experience: Visited for a massage and facial. Bristol never the easiest to navigate. But easy enough to find and plenty of parking available. Well set up with cafe on site, knowledgeable staff, clean and tidy. Massage and facial that the wife and i had was really enjoyable. Would recommend.

Positive experience: This is the only review you need to read. Clean + Great facilities apart from the actual gym, if you only tend to do cardio then you should be fine, but for strength training the space is really limited, not only is the gym very small, it has very few machines and benches. To add to this, the entire facility is rather small, and is absolutley over subscribed, not to an unusable level but certainly can be very frustrating, I mainly notice this when swimming (Lanes very busy), or as above, when doing strength training. Also, the hot tub is more often than not too cold. (They have to manually come and heat it up by sticking a hose with hot water into it). However, the majority of the people including both staff and members are very nice, the place is always clean. And the access to really nice steam room + sauna is great. Overall, I would definitley reccomend this facility if you can come at off peak times. At peak times its very busy and a bit off putting.

Positive experience: Overpriced with outstanding repairs (e.g. showers that don't work for over a month). Very difficult to get served at the food and drinks counter. But it has good machines, a pool, a sauna and a steam room. Mainly, it's location is convenient.

Negative experience: Popped randomly to this health club as my 3 year old son needed a poo and the closest public toilet was 10 minutes away. Denied access as they are not allowed 'non members' in the club. Offered to pay and pleaded but they would rather a child go for a number 2 in a nearby Bush. Good lesson to my son though, that sometimes sticking to the rules doesn't mean you are doing the right thing. 0/5

Fantastic experience: Went to Bannatynes for a spa treat. £49 for 2 treatments and free use of the facilities all day. I chose an elemis facial and a foot massage. Both were expertly provided by my beauty consultant Marina. She provided helpful advice on my skin type and routine. My skin felt wonderful. I was also offered £5 off the elemis products after the treatment. I then used the pool, jacuzzi, and sauna. All were lovely and clean, and not too crowded. I also enjoyed an Aqua Aerobics Session. The changing facilities had everything I needed. I was offered the rental of a towel, robe, and slippers for £8 but I'd brought my own. I also brought my own shampoo and shower gel, which I was glad of as there was only a wall mounted all in one shower gel in the showers. I had a lovely relaxing time and would book again.

Negative experience: The club has really suffered over the last couple of years. A lot coincides with the start of the current management team. Very high staff turnover Reduced gym classes High cancellation of gym classes Gym / studio equipment often faulty Not very clean Showers often out of shower gel Little consultation with members on changes I’ve been a member for almost 10 years, for the majority of that time it has been a great place to exercise. Shame it has gone down hill. I’ve just cancelled my membership, one of a number of members to do so recently.

Positive experience: I had a good experience at Bannatyne. I had a voucher for a spa treatment and was expecting difficulties based on the reviews. The staff (Kelly on front desk) were welcoming and helpful, the masseuse was professional and did a great job. The facilities were good, I felt the pool and sauna were the right temperature and it was clean. I didn’t visit the gym or cafe so can’t comment on them. Only criticism is it was a little busy but you could just wait for one area to get quiet and move there. Also when I tried to book in the voucher the website wouldn’t work on my phone and I was met with resistance when asking them to do it for me over the phone but they did eventually help.

Lucie Vox 2 years ago

Positive experience: As a former mystery shopper who specialised in gyms, I wasn't sure what to expect given the number of poor reviews. This was my first visit to a Bannatyne; I booked using a £40 voucher that was a birthday gift. My overall impression is that this venue is suffering from an identity crisis - it seems to have aspirations of being a luxury spa, and also a gym - but misses the mark on both counts. My experience started with being called the week before my booking to ask if I could switch to another day - and while I was happy to accommodate this request, I was very much made to feel that as a voucher user (ie not a fully paid up member) that my booking was not as important as someone else's. The morning of my booking I was awoken with an early call advising that the Manager had rescheduled my treatment (again) and that I needed to arrive earlier than previously agreed. Quite annoying. On arrival it was clear that whilst the staff were trying to offer good customer service, they were understaffed and stressed. I was lead at near on a marching pace to my treatment room, whereupon the therapist had been told I was there for a facial - I wasn't - I had booked a massage. I didn't mind having a facial instead, but feel the need to note that they got my booking wrong. I did not check out the gym facilities. The swimming pool is (as other reviewers have mentioned) really too cold. It is far too cold to be a spa pool, and is colder than the gym pool at my usual gym. Getting into the water was really quite unpleasant, and still felt cold after swimming several laps. The jacuzzi is powerful but again too cold in this reviewer's opinion. The relaxation room contains heated loungers and is nicely lit, but is lacking background music - personally I don't find the sound of other people breathing to be very relaxing. The sauna felt warm enough but only very feintly smelled of cedar - and also feintly of mould. The steam room smelt pleasantly of eucalyptus, but was cooler and less steamy than others I've experienced - most likely due to the steam room door having a tendency not to close properly. The café was surprisingly well priced. The general clientele reflect the centre's identity crisis; ego-crazed men who insist on huffing and puffing in saunas and steam rooms to attract attention to themselves, older men hogging the jacuzzi for far too long while 'spectating' the women. (The women using the facilities were as women usually are - considerate of other spa users, no comment really necessary.) Surprisingly busy for midweek. In summary: I wouldn't pay to visit here, and although the treatment was nice, I'd recommend any leisure centre that has spa facilities over this venue. My usual centre is £30 a month and is comparable/better than this Bannatyne centre. For a similarly priced spa day in the Bristol area that actually feels luxurious, I'd recommend Hilton Cadbury House instead.

Negative experience: Originally booked a spa day in Cardiff, received a call two days before advising staff shortages so had to cancel. Rebooked at Bristol, again received another call just a few days prior advising staff shortages so couldn't honour the time but could fit us in earlier in the day. This meant an 8.30 start to get there in time, not the relaxing start we had hoped for. Day before our appointment had another call to advise they were no longer able to offer the facials. On the day the staff were friendly enough and we did enjoy our time but the swimming pool area wasn't warm enough to enjoy the loungers. The massage treatment was OK. Overall not a great experience and no form of apology from Bannatynes for all the messing about and inconvenience. Expected better customer care.

Fantastic experience: Been a member about 6 weeks. A pleasure to attend classes. All staff are friendly and professional and the facilities can't be faulted.

Claire Gould 2 years ago

Negative experience: Not worth the money. The gym itself is small/poor weight section, and the pool is always very busy. Good luck trying to get into the steam room/sauna without sitting on someone else's lap. Unless you're on the app at 6am the day classes are released, you're unlikely to get a space in the yoga/pilates class. Staff at the gym were friendly and helpful! BUT trying to transfer and then cancel a membership online was such a faff. The gym was closed for a couple days and there was no compensation/guest pass etc despite paying around £90 a month to go there. I've had a much more pleasant experience at another gym which is more than half the price.

Negative experience: I have been to Bannatynes on a number of occasions and I have no issue with the gym facilities. I do have an issue with the lack of care from certain staff members. On my most recent visit to Bannatynes I waited 10 minutes at the reception to be seen, once I was seen I was charged the standard day rate £20 (not £30 as I knew a member). Once filling out my information on the computer out of the way, I overhear two people asking for the same day membership as I had. They asked the price and the receptionist said £30, to this the customers asked if they could give them a deal and his response was if you make a charitable donation you can get in for £5. This was chocking considering I was charged 4 times the price and that this conversation happened directly if front of me. I confronted the receptionist who acted sheepish (probably embarrassed) and the response from the customers were to antagonise me further saying that the receptionist ‘couldn’t have liked the look of me’ or ‘too bad for you’. It was an unpleasant experience that ruined my time there and has made me doubt if I will return in the future.

Negative experience: I've been attempting to book a spa treatment for 2 package since it was given to me in January. Initially I couldn't get a date until June. By the time June cane around I found out a) that the "package for 2" has been arranged with different treatment times for me and my fellow guest (obviously this is not what you expect when booking a treat for two) and b) I was by now pregnant. In trying to rebook, I had to have a special pregnancy trained therapist (fair enough) and was told there were very few of these. As such it was virtually impossible to book in a visit for 2 of us at the same time. So I abandoned this route and asked to just use the value of the voucher to book treatments just for myself. Having done this, I arrived at the dpa for my appointment in late July only to be told that that therapist was off sick (no phone call ahead of time to warn me). This left me having to walk home pregnant and once again with the prospect of attempting to book an appointment that may or may not actually happen. Its been a nightmare and stressful from beginning to end and I'm not even at the end. Exasperated.

Negative experience: Only 1 star as there was no option for zero stars. Booked spa experience via spa days for 24/6/23 months in advance with a group of friends. Arrived to find the therapist had called in sick. Asked if we’d like to hang around on the off chance they could offer the briefer 15 min treatment with no loungers by the pool. They would not prioritise us by cancelling afternoon bookings. Friend waited 1 hour in hot reception area for a non existent massage and no communication. Appalling service and stressful. Avoid at all costs

Positive experience: *See summary in last paragraph Recently attended using a spa voucher and was apprehensive after looking at the reviews, but none the least went with an open mind. Starting with the Spa treatments, these could not be faulted. Relaxing, and enjoyable, and came away with no aches and pains. Would 100% return for another. The staff giving the treatment were extremely nice as well, they explained everything, and check for allergies or if we had any areas which may need extra work. Was also brought a glass of nice cool water at the end which was welcome on the hot day (They offer a self service tap which wasn't cold so was nice to get a fresh one) I could see why there are some negative reviews for the other facilities, the jacuzzi was cold and the strength and conditioning gym could do with a refresh (bump tiles are old and grey) but for being included in the voucher these were more than adequate and enjoyable. The staff at the front were extremely polite and helpful and answered any questions we had. All in all, I wouldn't become a member but I would definitely return using a spa voucher, which gives you access to the full site for the day (Not explicit) and would bring my own towel and gown (they up sell on gown and towel hire) Summary - Spa facilities and staff are good, the jacuzzi was cold, and the gym could do with a refresh. Would return but highly recommend booking through 3rd party voucher and getting it discounted. Also go early and make use of the full site

Positive experience: Had a wowcher treat today at this spa It Was really good! I was a little worried due to bad reviews. However, my partner and I had a fab time.. We had a prosecco cream tea and a treatment each (facial and a massage) we used all the facilities (jacuzzi, pool, sauna, steam and relaxation room) all very good.. The staff were helpful and friendly.. My partner loved his massage and I had a fabulous facial.. It looks a little tiered in places but it's no biggie.. Great easy parking.. We. Will be back!

Negative experience: Mixed feelings:. 1) Wet rooms have little steam and smell bad. 2) Spa cold showers nearly dead so dont expect any pressure, especially when theres 2 of you using it at the same time. 3) Jacuzzi noisy and chlorine smelling. 4) One of the staff members has rude attitude. I heard how he told other spa members to not to put feet in the water, until he finish his Aqua Aerobics, which was finishing in 1 minute. I cant believe he actually was bothered to come and tell them off for such a small thing. 5) Also heard the same guy acting like a prima donna to other people at the gym. Not nice, very old school, cold approach. Over all I couldn't recommend this place to anyone whos looking for a proper SPA treatment on a day off. This place seems to be missing a few important aspects of well being. Cafe area nice to sit and get a snack while you work on your laptop. Gym has brand new gear which is nice to see and use.

Negative experience: Paid for me and my Mrs to have a spa day with massage, they ended up cancelling our original date but said they will upgrade us which I was fine with, we was told via email that we would have full body and head massage, on arrival me and my Mrs went for our massage, my Mrs masseuse asked her where her pain points where whilst mines didn't ask me anything, didn't crack a smile, made us feel like it wad a burden, he did my massage and it felt like someone was just rubbing moisturiser on my back, and was done within 30 minutes no head massage nothing, when we left, again the male masseuse looked miserable, worst massage I've had in my life especially for what I paid for. would NOT RECOMMEND. We're not members there, so it felt like oh they paid for a couples massage, we don't have to treat them like members. For a spa that's meant to be of quality, we did not have that experience at all. The female masseuse was good and so I do not want to give her any bad feedback. She did her due diligence. Just the male was too cold. Didn't get what we were promised.

Negative experience: There was some sort of confusion with the spa voucher I purchased.. unhelpful and unfriendly spa staff!! The facilities were shocking.. did not feel like a relaxing spa experience at all!! Really disappointed as this experience was for my partners 30th! Feel sorry for anyone who is a member!

Positive experience: Massage was good value for money the pool and facilities are more recreation centre than spa like. The cafe was ok would go back for a massage but not bother with the pool as it was also a bit cold.

Negative experience: For a premium Gym it is very poor, The staff turnover seems to be a different set every single month. I've seen managers taking staff round and grilling them during opening hours in-front of clients. The Equipment is average at best, any damages seem to take a long time to get fixed. The swimming pool is often cold. The Cafe is virtually non-existent, you have to stand there for 15 minutes sometimes waiting for someone to serve you, if you're going to make an offering such as a cafe at least make sure you have someone working on it.

Positive experience: The facilities feel slightly outdated and the place is fairly small. For something that is meant to be relaxing, our experience was definitely stressful and I will avoid this place going forward. The massages at the spa are hit and miss - we enjoyed our first day but when we came back, one of us did not enjoy as much (guessing this is dependant on the member of staff doing the massage). Our booking was an absolute nightmare to organise. We had a buyagift voucher and their website doesn't seem to deal well with those. We upgraded and paid extra to have 3 massages each. Their system was apparently broken and due to the lack of manager in the spa, no one really had control over bookings. Fair enough, happens. This meant that we were told the wrong times to arrive on the bank holiday and we weren't able to have all of our massages that day. We were happy to come back another time to get the rest of the massages but we couldn't book those while we were there because their system was "down". The manager took our details and said they would be in touch the next day to book us in. A week went by and no attempt was made to get in touch with us. We called for 3 days trying to get a call back and the manager was either constantly in meetings or just went home without calling us back. Very poor customer service. In the end, after the x time we explained what happened to the receptionist at the front desk, we got booked in for our remaining treatments. The whole thing felt like a chore and despite having spent enough money (this was a birthday gift) we didn't feel it was worth it all in all. Overall, while the facilities are good enough (nothing to brag about), and the massages are good, its the poor customer service and organisation of the place that lets it down. There are plenty of nicer places to go to for a massage :)

Positive experience: Not sure why there is so much hate for this place! I guess some people prefer bathwater pool temperatures but for swimming lengths slightly cooler makes sense. I've been in hotter saunas but this has pretty much been 80-85 which is in the "zone". The place seems clean and not overcrowded and the staff are friendly. I kinda wish they had a cold plunge, this would finish the place off nicely for me.

Negative experience: THE WORST spa experience we've ever had - and we've had a few!! Massage felt great, but was ruined by a stupidly loud spin instructor and bassy music next door. Facilities were full of women doing water aerobics. Steam room - out of action Relaxation room - out of action What should have been a 4 hour experience was a 1hr massage followed by an awkward walk around the pool finishing back in the changing rooms....our swim suits didn't even get wet!! If you want a relaxing spa experience DO NOT go here!!!

Negative experience: Appalled by this Spa! Arrived for a spa day but the swimming pool was freezing cold so we couldn’t use it, the steam room had very little steam, the relaxation room was freezing, our ‘treatments’ were 15 minutes shorter than they should have been and my refund for locker bands was never received! Could anything else go wrong? Yes! No hot food available. Our spa day lasted from 10am until 1pm - and we had to drive 90 minutes to get there and 90 minutes home! If you receive a Spa Day as a present DON’T book here! PS Although we complained in several different ways we have heard nothing from them.

Negative experience: I went into the spa as a guest with some of my family who went for a sauna. I was going to have a tea and a club sandwich. I had to wait for 10 minutes to be served and 40 minutes to receive my food which I had to have boxed up so I could take it away. It was all an unpleasant experience but none of the fault should be attributed to the one man running the kitchen and dining area. He was extremely hard working serving customers before me but entirely on his own. He had to prepare the food and deliver it to the customers on his own. Unacceptable and very poor on the management and owners of this sports centre and spa. Not value for money and not a good service at all but the young man himself did his best. My sandwich was delicious when I eventually ate it. Spend some money and employ some young and keen people who will bring the place to life.

Negative experience: Had our first trip cancelled last minute due to no staff. Then we rearranged whilst driving in we were phoned to try and cancel again as they were short staffed and ended changing times. When we arrived we were told he had to pay for towels (new one) then they forgot to give us wrist bands for lockers. Sauna and steam room and pool were all crammed. Massage was good and relaxation room nice. Wouldn’t go again.

Negative experience: Getting harder and harder to train here because of the lack of air conditioning in both the gym and the shower/changing area. I’ve just got back from a gym session (27/06/23) and it’s all just the same - even though I’ve complained to staff twice in the last week! The awful thing is that older people complain about the heat - just a couple of gents were talking about the shower room temperature today - but they don’t say anything to the staff and just suffer instead. Such high temperatures are quite dangerous for older folks. I’ve been taking a thermometer in and have seen a gym temperature of 24°C today, which is unbearable. They have two air conditioning units in the gym itself and one of them was switched off! In the changing rooms it’s sweltering, which is hideous after a training session. I’m actually having to take a cold shower just to stop sweating, which is absurd. There’s water droplets all over the aircon units (see photos) which drip on you when you’re getting changed. And this is a health club? Don’t make me laugh. I’ve been coming here for years and I’m paying a fortune every month for a towel membership but I will not be renewing when the contract comes to an end. You can tell they only care about cash because you have to turn your headphones to max just to block out all the advertising they blast out everywhere. Did I mention that I HATE this club?!

Negative experience: Went for couple weeks did not enjoy the facilities, not enough equipment in the gym cold pool cold sauna the food is great if u like dried jacket potatoe (all they offer) which most time haven't even got anyways. Got stuck in a 12 month contract they won't let me out. The price went up unexpectedly now I am paying 65 pound a month for something I really don't want. Stay away

Positive experience: Friendly staff and clean facilities. The spa team were really helpful and friendly and made me feel at ease. Lovely little Starbucks in the foyer as well.

Negative experience: Equipment going downhill fast. This is particularly true of the spinning studio where at least 6 of the 18 bikes are currently faulty. Absolutely not acceptable given the premium price.

Negative experience: Would have given no stars if I could. Twice they cancelled our spa day at 2 hours notice and when rebooking we had to wait months. Terrible service

Positive experience: I went here for a spa treatment that was bought for me as a birthday present. The treatment was lovely, and all the staff I encountered were helpful, professional, and friendly. However, I wouldn't recommend it for a relaxing place to go as it isn't adults only.

Positive experience: Had a lovely day BUT that was mainly due to it being with a friend I hadn't seen for a long time. Other than that - 2 of us were booked for a 10.30 Swedish massage, followed by 2 scalp and hand treatments. Friend travelled from London for this spa day. 20 minutes before statt of treatments, we got call (we were just parking) to say therapist hadn't turned up and treatments were all cancelled. We turned up to use facilities anyway and lady behind desk was very kind and apologetic, offered refund and use of spa for day, and complimentary lunch, so big kudos for that. Though it looked like many others were being cancelled also. Facilities - were OK- pool was all lanes so no relaxing in there, and the jacuzzi was cool but just warm enough for a 10 minute relax (though very noisy and a bit grotty around the edges). The sauna was more of a warm room, not very hot, but I enjoyed the steam room and the relaxation room was actually quite relaxing too. There are NO seats or places to relax pool side. Don't expect a relaxing spa lounger or anywhere to sit for a water or coffee poolside, it's more of a regular swimming pool attached to a gym without the extra features you may want on a "spa experience". The lunch was nice although it did seem it was the same person working behind the desk, in the cafe and perhaps even serving the food. There are signs about looking to employ spa therapists so it seems they are aware of their lack of staff for this, so it would be sensible to stop booking spa days for people and letting them down before getting some proper staff who can do their jobs sufficiently. Saying that, the lady running the show (Sophie?) Was doing a sterling job - I'd be surprised if she wasn't running the classes, cleaning the pool and toilets ans checking the parking too... All in all, we won't be going back for a spa day and won't be recommending others do either- we are expecting a refund and will be putting it towards a day elsewhere.

Negative experience: I’ve been a member for around 6 months and it’s just getting worst. This morning sauna was just warm as usual- same the steam room- so if you want to join for sauna benefits- just don’t. It’s not a sauna it’s just a warm room. there was so much chlorine in jacuzzi that we had to run under the shower to wash it off, also there was not enough water in the swimming pool… Management is ignoring sauna temperature all the time.

Negative experience: Not a good company at all. I used a virgin gift voucher to book a spa package with Bannatyne and been told there is no availability as they have no staff. They have not been able to confirm when availability will come up in the future and I have already extended my voucher which is due to expire. I have no idea why they are advertising on Virgin experience website that you can book a spa deal with them when they have no availability. I am yet to sort out this issue as cant get hold of the manager. Do not book with this company.
