Negative experience: Some very solid takedowns here. Have used Nuffield Moorgate, was considering joining here but now won't. Its amazing how some businesses think there is margin in underinvestment as a business model. Nuffield - we can all use a perfectly serviceable Better gym on a pay as you go basis for a fiver. You have a long way to go to justify £110 of our money.

Negative experience: Absolute Nightmare – Avoid Nuffield Health Friern Barnet at All Costs! 0/5 stars – I wouldn’t give this gym a single star if I could! Joining Nuffield Health Friern Barnet was the worst decision I ever made, and I’m begging anyone reading this to steer clear unless you enjoy wasting money and risking your health. This place is a disgrace from top to bottom. First off, the cleanliness is non-existent. The gym floor is caked in sweat, grime, and who-knows-what—sticky patches on the equipment, dust bunnies the size of small animals in the corners, and don’t even get me started on the changing rooms. The showers are mouldy, the tiles are cracked, and I’ve seen more hair and dirt in there than in a haunted house. They claim to prioritize health, but this is a biohazard waiting to happen! Then there’s the maintenance—or rather, the complete lack of it. Half the machines are broken, and the ones that aren’t feel like they’re on their last legs. Treadmills stop mid-run, weights machines jerk and groan like they’re about to collapse, and there’s only ONE functional cable machine for the entire gym—ridiculous for a place charging premium prices! The equipment is so old and worn out, it looks like it’s been salvaged from a junkyard. Rusted weights, peeling upholstery, and screens that haven’t worked since the 90s—it’s embarrassing. Oh, and forget about towels. They stopped providing them years ago (supposedly for “hygiene” reasons post-COVID), but good luck finding a clean surface to wipe your face on. Bring your own, or prepare to sweat it out in misery. It’s just another sign of how little they care about members. The staff? Useless. Complaints about broken machines or filthy conditions are met with shrugs or empty promises that “someone will look into it”—but nothing ever changes. The whole place feels neglected, like Nuffield has forgotten this location even exists. For the exorbitant membership fees, you’d expect state-of-the-art facilities, but this is a rundown relic that should be shut down, not promoted. Do NOT join this gym under any circumstances. Save your money, your sanity, and your health—head to a local council gym or budget chain instead. Nuffield Health Friern Barnet is a sham, and I regret every second I spent there. Canceling my membership was a relief, but not before they tried to squeeze more money out of me. Avoid, avoid, AVOID!

Negative experience: The sauna is always broken, last 5 months steam room broken once (2weeks), sauna broken all of October 2024 and all of Jan 2025, considering busy period for gyms in Jan, they aren’t bothered about service, numerous parts of gym broken, less of an issue but they don’t fix for ages. Russian manager lady isn’t bothered, don’t believe they’re lies when you visit, they never fix anything very slow if they do, and steam room sauna broken all the time. Cable on machine as you enter gym broken for since September. Same gym equipment last 10 years barely any change. No rebate, other gyms far away, considering this is tier 1 and expensive not worth it. Don’t believe they’re lies. This management I’ve called up each week for two months only to be ignored and delayed. Very disrespectful. Shame used to be okay for price, now it’s not.

Negative experience: Nicest staff and Members of any Nuffield I’ve been to (City Member) - but the facilities themselves are quite literally falling apart Sauna out of use due to broken benches? No spin dyer? No towels provided? Locker doors hanging from their hinges? Broken gym equipment/out of use equipment Smallest Free-weights section I’ve ever seen Last but certainly not least - the ceiling in the male changing room has collapsed - but fear not, it’s been securely cordoned off by the cleaners trolly and a wet floor sign! I checked how much monthly membership was out of curiosity, (as mentioned- my home club is Nuffield City) £118.00 a month… I was speechless- I have been to better Pure Gyms at £20 per month This is not a gym for people who actually work out, this is a gym for people who like to say they go to the gym and also like to tell everyone it’s a Nuffield… because at the moment Nuffield is still a well respected brand… however it seems to be deteriorating rapidly so I can’t imagine it will be seen as a “flex” being a Nuffield member for much longer However, this is not the worst Nuffield I have ever been to- that crown has to be given to the Hendon Club… the “No Spitting” signs on the gym floor tell you everything you need to know. City and Moorgate are the only two clubs worth the money these days - but most people don’t live in the Tower of London so some investment into your clubs outside of Zone 1 would be appreciated Hemel Hempstead - Tiny, No Towels, Car Park 10 minute walk away St Albans - Pretty good but ridiculously overpriced Hendon - Helldon Frien Barnet - Gobsmackingly poor Next stop was Enfield but quite honestly I think I’ll save myself the petrol money and start looking at memberships elsewhere

Negative experience: I am genuinely disgusted by the state of this gym. The facilities are outdated, poorly maintained, and downright dirty. Nothing better illustrates Nuffield Health’s failure than its refusal to invest in the basic standards required for a gym to function. It’s an embarrassment to the brand and an insult to its members. This area desperately needs a functional, affordable gym that is clean and doesn’t pretend to be elite while delivering sub-standard facilities. Today, four treadmills were ‘out of order,’ and other equipment was clearly broken. The fact that prices have increased despite overwhelmingly negative reviews is nothing short of a slap in the face to loyal customers. It’s clear this club is haemorrhaging money and would benefit from new ownership with the means and commitment to fix its glaring issues. For over £90 a month, failing to provide basic amenities like towels is unacceptable. The changing rooms and lockers are old, tired, and in desperate need of renovation. The overall value for money here is abysmal. Save yourself the frustration and avoid this gym at all costs—it’s simply not worth it.

Negative experience: Limited and old equipment often broken and not repaired for weeks. Phone calls go unanswered and email not responded to. Issues with class booking system meaning you have to try and book immediately as slots released or you will never be able to attend a class - though in reality the people booking aren’t attending. Classes themselves OK. Pool and sauna somewhat dated and you will be told to get out abruptly by cleaning staff 30 minutes before advertised closing time.

Positive experience: I recently joined this gym, and I must say, the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Toni made the signup process quick and hassle-free, which I really appreciated. However, I did notice that the gym itself has an older vibe and could benefit from some updated equipment. Additionally, parking can be a bit challenging during peak hour.

Negative experience: Quite a tired gym. Certainly not worth its tier tier-1 pricing. Locker rooms are tired with broken benches and dodgy showers. Cobwebs everywhere. Paint scuffs throughout. Equipment often broken. Sauna broken for weeks. Poolside shower cold only. For the price Nuffield need to do MUCH better.

Negative experience: Terrible experience, moved firstly with a membership and the ability to go to any gym. They wouldn’t give me a permit in freign barnet. I complained nothing, then tore a labrum in my hip and trying to do cancel charges etc. avoid.

Negative experience: Not sharing a review to comment on the quality of the gym or the fitness side of NH.. I wanted to share my experience with the physio within the club. Short version, if you come across the facility for this purpose then look elsewhere. I found the overall experience very disappointing. Whilst I was eventually able to benefit from some sound advice I found the physio, Karl, prickly, cold, without much humour or ability to build rapport & overall an unenjoyable health professional to have to be around. Time keeping clearly not of value, I didn’t receive much by way of sincere apology when I was kept waiting for close to 10 minutes after my appointment time. On one occasion the gentleman was talking with other staff, finished speaking & wandered off. Needless to say, I’m no longer taking my business there.

Negative experience: You know that a gym will be bad when you find yourself admiring the architecture rather than the equipment A shockingly bad experience. The changing room floors were wet and filthy, some of the lockers were broken and everything looked run down They've stopped supplying towels - something not highlighted on the website, which meant you had to buy one for the pool. The gym floor was woefully ill equipped. The only dual pulley cable stack had one side "under repair", and weights left all over the place. Couldn't wait to get out of there. I'm a group member so this isn't my main branch but for anyone local looking to join. Don't. There's probably a PureGym nearby for half the price. You'll be annoyed at having to go to a PureGym but at least you won't be paying so much for it.

Negative experience: Let me start with saying this is by no way a criticism of the staff who work there. They have been lovely interactive and professional about some of these concerns. That being said there are serious things that need to be addressed about this gym. This gym is very close to me and I have known it in about 3 different incarnations over the last 15 years. Some of the equipment is the same since 2009 there has been items broken and out of action for months. For a gym that has a spa and pool area not providing towels to guest “ due to Covid “ is a transparent way to save money and falls below the norm for gyms at that price. Despite this the cost of the membership has gone up. The lockers are the same since the esporta days. The gym needs an urgent revamp or at least maintenance. The smith machine , leg extension and cables have been broken for weeks. It’s getting the point where the space doesn’t meet basic gym requirements. The old point of “ it’s a listed building” doesn’t make up for not fixing broken equipment .

Negative experience: Every other machine broken, decor is horrific, dirty, not well kept or maintained at all. Falling apart. They can't even be bothered to replace lightbulbs or even get the same ones. Wall is mouldy and damp, paint peeling. What's the excuse there??? Awful equipment, everything is about 20+ years old, including the treadmills and cardio equipment. No wonder it keeps breaking. All the attachments are broken, disorderly and filthy and just thrown about with zero care. Rubbish gym: poorly managed, poor communication and poor value. Needs a LOT of improvement.

Negative experience: I would suggest avoiding this gym as unfortunately everything seems to be falling apart; the tiles in the pool, the machines (there are always multiple out of action for a month or so, sometimes more) or the steam room and sauna are sometimes very mild or out of action. you are paying a very high premium for a gym which has limited equipment due to so many issues because of very old machines, either broken or clogged air conditioning and no where near enough yoga classes to meet demand

Negative experience: There has been one (ONE!) cable for the entire gym for about a month. Not one whole machine, no. ONE cable. It is ridiculous! Who can possibly run a gym this poorly? The funny thing is that there's only ever a maximum of three cables! Most home gyms have more than that!

Negative experience: I totally agree with Michael Balding. His review below couldn’t have said it better. I have to swap from different Nuffields in my area as I drive to one and something is not working again. I understand problems occur but the problems that occur at Nuffield are the same ones. 1. Equipment is old and tired. They have recently replaced the treadmills which is good but everything else needs to be upgraded 2. Changing rooms are falling apart. The womens changing room are awful you don’t even want to get undressed. 3. No maintenance on AC units, you can see the filters are blocked, air circulation in the gym is poor. 4. Closed jacuzzi down - no reduction in membership 5. Steam room is in the process of getting an upgrade - will see how this pans out 6. The parking is farcical - they really do need to sort this out 7. Value for money- membership is increasing but you are getting reduced amenities 8. Evidence of leaks from the roof, not made good It's being run like a bedsit. On the one hand I do sympathize with gyms as they are trying to recover post pandemic and recoup their losses, but at the same time the customer should come 1st and that the gym experience should offer value for money. It has the potential to be a great gym but needs investment which sadly I don't see Nuffield making in a timely manner.

Negative experience: Sadly the gym area is dated and not a good space to work out in. The pool area is nice but small. Hot tub often closed in winter due to running costs.

Negative experience: Every one in the gym is calling themselves a manager! I had to cancel today class 50 min prior class as I woken up with too high blood pressure. I I was refused to be cancelled as it was les than hour. The person on the phone called herself a manager of the gym , Sarah, and the way she was presenting gym was sounds was like she was enjoying not to be cancelled class, too strict and not willing to help. Harsh tone left me confused, how many managers they have? As far as I know was another one. I have never sow her or heard about, but I am definitely sure I wish people like should not take position to manage!

They have recently replaced the treadmills which is good but everything else needs to be upgraded 2. Changing rooms are falling apart. The men's changing room - all the benches are loose. Negative experience: Disappointed with the set up at the gym. The machines are old and would do with replacement. The weights area only has one squat rack and could do with at least a second. The lighting in the gym is poor and the whole place could do with a refresh as it looks run down. Although it has been said that the weights area has been replaced it feels like the equipment is a hand me down from another centre as it certainly isn’t new. If Nuffield invested a bit of money in redoing the my floor it would be a great area and attract more people to join.

Positive experience: I've been a member of this place for years now, so I think I am qualified to review. Having been living nearby, I can say that the best gym is almost always the nearest one to you. So from that perspective, it wins for me. The staff are also nice and friendly. And of course it has a pool, steam room, sauna. And gym is rarely busy. All positive. Now the things to improve on... - Gym equipment is tired and old as has been noted in other reviews. Electric machines are replaced and are better than previous ones, however the weight stack machines, free weights and other non-Electric equipment is still old and tired and needs replacing. - gym floor is small, and therefore it is difficult to get any more machines in. It's not possible to do much more with the gym floor except update the equipment, especially for me the free weights, there are not enough mid range weights ( 12-18kg ) for my liking. And needs another bench. - changing rooms and lockers are old and tired. Needs a refurb. Showers were replaced a couple of years ago maybe? - They keep making it more expensive, and taking things away, this has been noted by other people and is entirely true. Towels, coffee, jacuzzi, ... In summary, if you live really close, then it's a good option, but overly expensive at £80-£90. It's just not really worth that money however, there are deals through companies and insurances that could get you a membership much cheaper, so at say £40 it's worth it if you like classes and wet area. Other than that. Go to puregym etc which are less, larger, more modern, etc. Nuffield if you are listening... invest a little money in this place it could be SO much better. And worth the money.

Negative experience: Very dirty and terrible service. I just wanted to try for one month but Mario charged me double and couldn’t refund. Be careful when you speak with them. You should give a notice before you start your trial also you should sign on it and emailed. Otherwise they don’t accepted

Negative experience: Had some guest passes for this gym. Being nuffield I was expecting a very high standard. I was quite shocked when I actually saw the states of the place. It looks like it's not been renovated since the place was conversed from an insane asylum over 20 years ago. Only good thing about this gym is the pool, but sadly it's not a very large one. Yes, you can do a few lengths but that's it. Place needs a complete overhaul. I personally wouldn't pay over 100 lb a month to use this gym. The state it is in when you can pay less than 20 pounds and use a high-tech gym less than 10 minutes away.

Fantastic experience: I have joined gym week ago and very happy with place : clean, good price, staff is friendly, great members. Also big swimming pool , lovely smell steam room. Negative experience: Went to look at the place today as was thinking about joining. Had been there a few times years ago when it was Virgin Active. Couldn’t believe how awful the whole experience was. Parking appalling, Kept waiting for ages for the guy to show me round. Scruffy and couldn’t be bothered. Clear that Nuffield has not spent a penny on decorating or refurbishing since they took it over. Pool tired and old, changing rooms very shabby by now and gym lay out worst I’ve every seen with ancient equipment! If you’re thinking about it, don’t do it!

Negative experience: Extremely terrible customer service. Called up today 3 times. No answer. 4th time, a lady answered. I asked if I could use my Hendon membership at this gym and she said yes - It has multi gym access. So I proceeded with going after a long day at work. Despite it being in the opposite direction of where I live, I wanted to try this gym. I went there and the manager Tony Victorio told me I had to pay £7,50 to get into the gym. I explained to him I called up and the lady said my membership would allow me to enter. He then persisted and told me I HAD to pay or I could not get in. He even said “ it’s just £7.50, you can pay for that” and he even said to me “ I can see your on a friends and family discount. We will see if you are really a family or friend and the person who gave it to you will also be checked. He also said You already receive 50% off, isn’t that enough?” I asked him for his name and he was persisting me to give him my name first which is unbelievable. He told me to “get out”. I was explaining to him that on this occasion as I was told incorrect information and clearly the staff were not fully trained on what to say, it should not be a problem for them to let me in but he kept on saying he doesn’t know who spoke to me on the phone and even the lady at reception had no clue whether she spoke to me even though she claimed she was the only lady in that day. He was extremely rude, not patient or understanding. Complete opposite of how a manager should be. Overall the customer service was absolutely terrible. Would never recommended this gym to anyone. The staff are disgustingly rude. The fact that the own “manager” is questioning me, asking me to pay for something they made a mistake on and not trying to resolve the situation is beyond appalling. Waste of time and petrol after having a long day at work. The gym is supposed to be a friendly and warm environment. This is the complete opposite. If someone can look into tony Victorio, and investigate why he thinks it’s ok to speak with customers the way he does, but also cut and roll his eyes at me? And for the lady to say “he’s just like that as a person” is not justifiable and also terrible in itself.

Negative experience: Liers & scammers. Joined because they offered towels. Covid happened so they stopped it, promising to return the service after covid. Never happened. Then they took away TVs until electricity prices went down. Electricity prices have gone down and the TVs aren't back. However they have turned the TVs vertically to play us Nuffield health advertising all day instead! They said the Jacuzzi would be shut over winter, just because of electricity costs. When the time to reopen them came, they closed for good and have now cemented them into oblivion. Constant broken promises. Just go bankrupt already rather than lead people on constantly

Negative experience: Update: I have cancelled my membership. Too expensive for a low quality gym and pool. Appalling customer service. Warning: They charge you TWO MONTHS extra when you cancel. The venue looks good on the outside, but the interior is run down and old. They have now closed the jacuzzi permanently. And yet there is no reduction in the cost. Why? Where is all that saved money going? There has to be some kind of improvement somewhere. They might as well use that saved money to cover all the other negative issues I'm about to mention here: The gym equipment is old and dated. Not enough equipment. Too many people. That means you can't use them and have to wait or not use them at all. There is only one smith machine, and it's always taken. You are lucky if you ever get to use it at all. Why is the music always so loud? Turn it down! The lighting in the gym is poor, it isn't well lit. The personal trainers are too expensive. I can't understand why their coaching sessions are not included in the monthly cost of the service we pay for which is already overpriced. The swimming pool is too dim due to poor lighting. It is also very small. Too many people means it gets too crowded. The changing rooms are clearly dated and need renewing. One of the wooden benches in the Men's is broken. Why is it all made of wood? Why does it have that 'S' logo on the lockers? It's obvious that this place was run by somebody else until Nuffield Health came and bought it. But they didn't bother to give it an upgrade. The steam room is clearly old and needs an update. It's quite small too which means it gets crowded in there very quickly. Very limited parking spaces. Not enough spaces to park your car. They should get more parking spaces. Too many old people sitting around chatting idle while their cars are parked outside preventing other members from parking their cars. Thus forcing other members to park their cars elsewhere and further away. This is an inconvenience. It's selfish and annoying. This is a gym, not a cafe. The coffee machine is Costa. I hate that brand. I never drink their beverages anymore. Change it to something please. Better yet, get rid of it. All of this can all be better. Everything here can be improved given the extortionate price members are paying. At least the changing rooms are clean, and the staff in general are friendly. At least they don't require bookings to use the pool. Overall, this is way too expensive for a low quality service. Based on what I've read about Nuffield Health they are supposed to be a "luxurious" healthcare service. Unfortunately what you get is the opposite. It's just another standard gym with a swimming pool and a steam room/sauna, with an expensive price tag. There are reviews here that go back months and years that mention the same problems I mention here, but the managers are not interested, nor listen to customers. It doesn't show good leadership or good customer service. Finally, when I wanted to cancel my membership the staff told me to "go online" and “cancel it yourself”. Why can’t they do it? All paying customers are saved on a database which they can delete and cancel at will at the click of a button. I work as a database manager and it’s not as hard they claim. If these people cannot cancel a membership at the simple click of a button, then what the hell do they do sitting in front of computers all day? Unprofessional. Incompetent. It gets worse. To add insult to injury they charge you for TWO whole extra months when you request a cancellation. When I made a cancellation request, it was on the 8th August. The manager told me that I will only be charged on the 1st of September for the next month. Fine. But on the same day I got a call from the Nuffield team that I will be charged on the 1st of October as well. An insulting rip off. That is NOT FAIR. Overall, a bad gym with appalling customer service. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Negative experience: I used to be a member of this gym. Initially everything was great, induction went well and I loved that the gym was never really busy. But I soon realised why it wasn’t busy. This gym needs investment, the equipment is tired. Seems it hasn’t been changed for years. But this was fine for me as long as the machines were mainly working this was worth it. What made me leave was the lack of value for what I was paying. The gym cost over £90pm which is more on the luxury end but that’s not what you get here. There is a pool and steam room which is great to have but they are also tired. There was a jacuzzi which was initially closed during the winter time due to rising energy costs but then they communicated this would now be shut permanently while they were increasing the memeberahip prices by £10 a month. That’s when I realised they don’t value their customers and take advantage of being the only gym in the area with a pool. From speaking to other members of the gym it sounds like it’s been a trend where things have been taken away (used to have free coffee but now chargeable) but prices go up. Also I had been told there are monthly opportunities to bring a partner but this never happened which is sad as my partner wanted to come swimming with me occasionally. In summary. Good location, empty gym. But it’s not worth £90+ per month. For around £40 to £60 I would come back or when they renovate and start valuing their customers more.

Negative experience: Unbelievably terrible gym floor. I workout pretty much everyday and have seen all gym tiers from independent to big brands in the UK. This has to be the worst branch across the board. There's an "I'm out of order" sign on multiple equipment literally everyday of the week. Don't be fooled by the location the place is rundown from the inside because it's obviously unloved by Nuffield who are too busy buying private hospitals.

Negative experience: Given lots of feedback re extra yoga classes. The good ones fill up within 10 mins of becoming active.suggested more twilight classes and Saturday classes but no response to request. There is demand for these but requests aren’t taken on board.

Negative experience: If I could give it zero stars I would. This gym takes advantage of the fact there are no other gyms with a steam room and sauna in the area other than David Lloyd which is over £140 a month. The gym equipment haven't been updated in 15 years. They're refusing to turn on the jacuzzi saying it costs too much to heat, yet my membership has just gone up by £10 a month. How does that make sense? The other Nuffield health branches have reopened their jacuzzis too.

Fantastic experience: I joined Nuffield through Gympass and have been very impressed with the facility and friendliness of the staff. Recently I had some issues booking classes online but Elena was able to resolve it with a swift turnaround explaining every step of the way. It was promptly resolved and I am now able to book classes at any time. So happy to be able to join this facility and thank you to Elena, great example of excellent customer service and leadership.

Fantastic experience: It's a wonderful gym. The pool is a perfect size for indoor swimming. Both the sauna and steam room are great for relaxing. All staff are extremely polite and friendly. I always see one of the managers (Elena) is always busy and hard-working. She is extremely pleasant and helpful. Mario was lovely, he explained everything thoroughly before signing up. It's a small gym but the location is absolutely beautiful. I look forward attending most evenings. :):)

Fantastic experience: Since starting in July of 2022 I have really enjoyed being a member of Nuffield health, the gym itself is very well equipped for all forms of exercise and is never too busy. The staff make the process of going to the gym easier by creating a welcoming and pleasant environment, in particular Elena and Natalia were very helpful with organising my membership and sessions with the PTs and are great people to get advice from. Overall, I would highly recommend the Friend Barnet gym and when you need to wind down after an intense session the pool and sauna are a great place to relax.

Positive experience: Vastly overpriced. Good location and lack of competition means they charge too much for what you get. Old machines and just not enough different ones. Broken machines are left broken for months. Pool locker facilities are dirty and old. This gym needs a major refurbishment. Reception staff are friendly though.

Positive experience: There is no more free coffee, you must bring your own towels, closing time is shorter. Now it closes 10pm in everything not 11pm as before. And the membership prices gone up. The coffee machine is Costa brand and coffee's price is as in a Costa coffee shop.

Negative experience: The gym is akin to a hotel gym. Closes early on the weekends and in serious need of an upgrade. They’ve also switched off the jacuzzi to save money however the memberships prices are still the same. The swimming pool, sauna, steam room and showers look really dirty. Staff are friendly though.

Fantastic experience: Have been coming here for a while via Hussle but have recently signed up as a member. Mario Papa helped me sign up and was extremely helpful and the whole process was very straightforward. The gym is very close to home and has good facilities including an excellent pool and steam/sauna facilities. It is very peaceful finishing a workout with a swim. I’ve not tried the classes yet but there looks to be a good selection to choose from. The location a fab with the gym set into beautiful surroundings.

Negative experience: For almost £100 a month you'd expect more. The equipment is out dated, cardio machines still have ipod chargers and half of them don't work. Limited weights, only one squat rack and plateform, don't even have a proper leg press and cable machines ALWAYS broken.

Negative experience: I'm close to leaving due to how old, run down, and mediocre the facilities are. As an example, the running machines have 1st Gen iPod chargers they're that old!! Machines and taps will be left for months with "out of order" signs on them. The floor has come up and has missing floor boards in places. The selection of weights is sparse and there are key training machines missing. My local community leisure center is 100% better value - it's odd for that to be the case against a private member's gym. It's a shame because Nuffield used to be great but their standards have significantly dropped. Their saving grace is the location which is pretty, and grand, and feels like a spa - it's just a shame that what you walk into doesn't even close to match it. I have emailed and complained via the web form about this and had no response.

Positive experience: I am writing to you as I have great concern for the site in Barnet. The site has not had any hand soap in the toilets. This is a major health and safety concern and unacceptable to have no hand soap for over week. This is a minimum requirement for basic hygiene and a major health risk, specially when we still have viruses that are still present today. My other hygiene concern is that body/shampoo has not been provided for 2 weeks now due to deliveries as site has been informing me. Again this is unacceptable as this is a basic hygiene requirement that a fitness leisure centre should have, especially when people are informed to take a shower before entering into pools, and other facilities. This therefore will contaminate and increase bacteria and body fat in pools, and jacuzzis as well as inside the steam and sauna. This therefore would mean that site would need to clean and drain waters to compensate the increase in poor hygiene. I do not see that this site will carry such work as this will impair more cost. As a standard they should be approved cleaning products that remove body fats from showers and other parts of the leisure facilities. Could you please inform me what approved products you use on site to achieve this? We have had equipment in the gym which has been broken for a month. We already on this site suffer from a lack of equipment to work on different body parts, so having one equipment in the gym not working massively impacts on what we can use as a collective in the gym. What are you doing about the equipment that is broken and when would this be fixed or replaced? I have been told that towels were stopped since COVID to hygiene cross contamination reasons. Towels are the safest to use as towels are washed at 60 degrees Celsius to kill bacteria and viruses, and if you do not use temperatures to kill bacteria and viruses, then there are approved products that help kill bacteria and viruses when towels are washed at a lower temperatures. Could you please inform me when you would introduce towels back onto site?

Positive experience: I like it. Magnificent building, no kids, friendly staff. Not too busy. A couple of changes since pandemic not to my taste. The “club” area is now equipment which does not suit me so much. Towels no longer supplied, though David Lloyd does still do so. Nevertheless, I am very pleased to be back.

Fantastic experience: I have joined recently after leaving David Lloyd and I really like Nuffield. It's slightly outdated, however it's clean and has all necessary equipment. Pool is a good size and steam room is hot. Nice and quiet, perfect for me.

Negative experience: It’s very convenient to where I live, which is the only reason I still go there, and the instructors are also nice. But it’s generally poor value for money. It is looking tired, its often dirty, general maintenance is poor- eg there are light bulbs not working in the changing rooms and half of the chairs by the mirrors have disappeared. The jacuzzi has been boarded up and not functioning for weeks, and one of the sinks in the changing rooms is taped up and not working. The staff on reception are generally unhelpful/unwelcoming and some are actually just rude. One told me she felt embarrassed to work there and another told me that there was no point completing the electronic surveys as no one reads them. Since Covid, despite there being no reduction in price, they seem to be the only gym in the area, NO longer providing towels (with apparently no intention of considering changing this policy- a real pain if you going on your way to work etc). They no longer provide free coffee either. Nuffield please up your game as I certainly wouldn’t recommend it

Fantastic experience: Was looking to join a local gym and went into Nuffield Friern Barnet and spoke to Mario about the options available to me as I am frequently away. He couldn't have been more helpful and as a result I have now joined. Only been a couple of time so far but great facilities, friendly staff and members, so highly recommend you check it out if you are looking for a gym in the area.

Negative experience: Physiotherapist KR , awful manner and rushed. Very basic compared to other places. Not really interested in the session. No follow up email with exercises as advised. Such a poor experience. Not up to Nuffield's standards. If you need good rehab post injury then go search around for specialised places which will give you great advice and a structured programme.

Fantastic experience: I am a member at Nuffeild Health Friern Barnet and I must say the staff members are extremely friendly, I feel I have made friendships. I also like the luxury feel it gives being away from a high street, and more private. I recently had an incident and was frustrated and the staff members resolved it quickly and eased my frustration. Fantastic experience: From the minute we arrived at the gym, we were taken care of by Mario. He explained all that we needed to know about the facilities and our options. It made the decision to join so much easier as everything had been explained clearly and candidly.

Fantastic experience: Female receptionist and the male staff on the upper gym floor add great value to the gym. Great staff, great members. Not too busy. However lack of equipment for a tier 1 gym and small spa area and small gym area compared to tier 3 gyms in the north of England. The high cost must solely be based on the cost of property in London or the rent of the building. As Preston, Manchester and Gloucester being low tier gyms but have much better facilities and space. Being a member at this gym grants you access too every single Nuffield health in the country so that’s a big bonus.

Fantastic experience: Initially I called Nuffield Health as I was worried about going back to the gym due to Covid but Mario Papa was really helpful in explaining all measures taken to ensure the gym is kept clean at all times. Mario kindly booked me a tour of the gym for next day and when I went there I was welcomed and given a full tour of the gym and honestly the machines in the place is not best or new but the most importantly the staff are very helpful and this matters a lot for me. Thanks to Mario I was matched with a PT session with Eduardo which absolutely fantastic he went beyond showing machines by teaching me great techniques in using the machines and explained which ones I should use to achieve my goals. I signed up for more PT sessions with Eduardo to achieve my goals thank you Mario.

Fantastic experience: Recently joined having moved into the area. Joining was easy , thanks to Mario for setting me up. The gym has excellent facilities and has lots of classes to choose from which are all easily managed via the app.

Fantastic experience: I re-joined the gym recently after a hiatus during the many months of COVID. Mario was really friendly and helpful and made the process smooth and stress free. I love this gym as it has a very friendly feel about it. People always chat in the communal areas and it feels like a really nice community. The facilities and classes are great too

Negative experience: Terrible gym. DO NOT SIGN UP. Signed up when I moved into the block (Princess Park Manor). It's not changed in 10 years since it was Virgin Active. No refurbs done what so ever. Place just need a new splash of paint and a bit of investment. Most of the equipment is very old or doesn't work. The place needs a touch up, just feels generally dirty, especially in the locker rooms, not well lit and not a place I enjoyed visiting, even though I live a 2 min walk away within the grounds. Not the standard you'd want for the price that you are paying. AGAIN, dont sign up as they'll trap you in a one year contract. Most people I spoke to there agreed that it was terrible and they've made complaints for years but nothing gets done. They are just there for the convenience. No wifi or signal either. You would have thought the time they were closed throuhgout COVID would have been the best time to fix it up a bit. I resulted in going to Pure gym not to far away, anything not to go here. Also heard lots about the manager Paul and how poor he was in the running on the gym. If you're considering joing or have just moved to the area, STAY CLEAR Sort it out Niffield

Negative experience: I only use this gym when I can’t use the one near my office. No wifi, no sky sports, no phone reception and aged facilities.

Negative experience: I called in the morning to book a session for me and my son(4 years) and they said we can come at 5.30 pm for an hour session. We were special coming for 40 minutes driving but when we arrived they said there is adult club only. This was very disappointed as my son was waiting the whole day for his swimming session. I would never go again to any Nuffield club.
