Nuffield Health Enfield Fitness & Wellbeing Gym: Opinions
Negative experience: Awful service, I have been trying to cancel my gym membership for over a month! No replies from management, only reply I get is that another manager has to look at the request and its never sorted. Have now paid around £150 since I began a cancellation request and nothing has been done, terrible service and management.
Negative experience: Absolutely terrible gym I payed extra took out a month membership then was told after I have to give 30 days notice now 2 months later I am being sent bailiff letters for £200. If the gym was actually nice and had decent equipment I would have stayed put everything is outdated it’s not very clean. They are charging david lloyd prices for pure gym avoid like the plague
Negative experience: This place has got progressively worse. The staff are all hiding behind the front desk, and ignore you when you come in. There is no one to be seen on the gym floor. The air conditioning that was supposed to be fixed, blows out very cold air if your underneath it, while to rest of the gym is reasonably OK. Still getting the smell of fried onions coming through the air conditioning. The music is loud a terrible, played through some budget speakers that make it sound even much worse. The pool is cold, and there seems to be an issue with the hot water occasionally.
Fantastic experience: For any membership questions or queries when ever at chingford club, ask for Tim at reception he is the Man... friendly and polite made me feel at ease.. super professional top service top Man Tim ❤️ all the best from Pat and Diego
Fantastic experience: Fantastic
Positive experience: Just had upgrade of equipment not new I think one of their central London gyms got a upgrade so enfield got all their old ones still a lot better than what it was membership gone up to £92 a month anytime there's a small swimming pool steam room and sauna it also has a room for classes like yoga gets very busy between five and eight at night swimming pool can get very overcrowded in the early morning as it small so can't take to many people
Negative experience: Useless. Don’t let you try the gym even once if you’re looking to become a member. I would never join a new gym without a trial.
Negative experience: FOR ANYONE DECIDING WHETHER TO JOIN THIS GYM: DON'T - I pay a massively discounted membership and it is STILL not worth it. Equipment old and outdated, machines break and aren't repaired for weeks. They had a jacuuzi which they stopped offering, yet still continue to up the membership price for new members. The freeweight section is terrible, tiny and barely any benches to workout using. They bought new dumbbells which I don't think a single member requested, we want MORE dumbbells and freeweight resources not new ones. A lot of the staff aren't friendly aside from a small minority. Basic things like the wipes or tissues in the changing rooms aren't replaced even though the cleaners / site staff loiter around half the time getting in the way of members. Changing rooms constantly have wet or dirty floors, again, even with the cleaners / site staff moping around all day. You'd think after constant bad reviews they'd try to improve the gym but I've been going over a year and it's only gone downhill, yet the prices for new members increase. I'm surprised the gym even has 3 stars on google the way all reviews are negative, someone must be asking the staff to leave 5 stars I think ;) I feel bad for anyone paying a considerate amount monthly for this gym, if you have ANY other gym near you, go there and I don't think you'll miss out on anything here.
Negative experience: Mould growing on the ceilings above the male showers. Forget about the overcrowding and dated equipment, they can’t even provide adequate cleanliness. I mean it’s not even just a case of cleanliness, it’s literally a health hazard.
Negative experience: I gave my one month noticenwith ONE DAY lateness and they charge me for 2 month. Despite I emailed them, explaining that I cant use the service anymore and I lve far the cold answer was that this was the rule. Honestly horrible service.
Negative experience: Why does it say on Google that it's wheelchair accessible entrance if the lift has been broken "for a while" (What I was told when I arrived there). A third of the gym is also not wheelchair accessible as there's a step at one end of the gym, and both sides of the pool. One of the paths leading from the shopping centre to the gym also doesn't have two dropped curbs (By the huge Nuffield sign) and the path is cracked in multiple places, so I almost fell out of my wheelchair multiple times. The red cord in the disabled toilet was tangled / strung up, so I made a point to untangle it during my tour. And a guy was urinating on a wall halfway from the Nuffield sign and the gym entrance at 6pm. He just came out of the entrance and then urinated in front of a mother a very young daughter (and me)...
Negative experience: Absolute diabolical gym - I used this local Nuffield gym in Enfield for a month. Here are the examples of the diabolical experience: 1. On Two occasions, gym didn’t open at 6:30, it opened at 7pm. This was due to member of staff forgetting the keys and a fault with the alarm. 2. On 4 occasions, in the morning, pool was not available to use due to not being cleaned or having no lifeguard. 3. Classes not in separate rooms so you end up having 3 outputs of music; main gym music, the class music and your own music. Worst remix one can ask for. 4. Equipment out order for over 3 weeks 5. Inconsistent > Some days there is tissue in changing rooms some days not. The hairdryers too. Some days there is wipes for the machines some days not. These are the BASICS.
Negative experience: The equipment is dated , when broken not replaced. Classes always full , need to book just as they are released, or will never get in. Jacuzzi has been closed but fees went up without that service. Poor attention by always changing receptionists. Overall not good value for money.
Negative experience: Very bad customer service they don’t even bother
Negative experience: Quite a list of negatives to talk about... 1. The gym equipment is old and worn out, always broken and staff take weeks to do anything about it. 2. Gym classes always fully booked, have to book the minute they get released. 3. The changing rooms/ showers smell like a sewer. They blame it on the 'drainage' but for a franchise like themselves is appalling. There has been incidents before of people using the shower as a toilet to empty their bowels. 4. Something simple as the scales have been broken for months and staff have simply done nothing about it. 5. The staff are useless including PT's, the amount of times you'll see someone doing an exercise wrong and they will just walk past with no care. - probably because they haven't paid for a PT session... 6. This as well as Barnet are awful choices, Chingford is a lot better but is always packed and probably too far anyway. 7. Only paid parking is available nearby. 8. They put 0 resources into this gym, I haven't ever seen anything new or any type of works to improve a single aspect of the place. 9. The hot water has been off for about two weeks now, are they just trying to save money? 10. The swim suit dryer is “broken” it’s supposedly a brand new machine and again won’t be fixed for a long time. 11. It is tiny and overcrowded. For a 'premium' gym this just isn't it, you'll get no services like towels and just a worn down, tired gym. Cancelled my membership.
Negative experience: I was a member at this gym 2018 - 2020. I have since joined gyms such as gymbox and puregym however missed the pool area the Nuffield offered. I was about to commit to a 12 month membership however seeing all these reviews I've decided not to proceed. It appears that much of the issues present when I was a member have actually worsened I.e. outdated gym, temperamental Spa facilities, packed classes and now apparently you don't even get towels which we used to! Pictures on Google are misleading. Thank you to everyone who has left an honest review so I didn't waste my time and money. What a shame.
Negative experience: This gym is extremely dated - Nuffield health is supposed to be a high standard franchise and this branch is very disappointing . Paying over £100/month for dated equipment, dark and cramped workout spaces is unjustified. There are 3 workout benches only, damaged weights and overall impractical layout throughout the gym floor. Nuffield Health needs to heavily invest in this facility to improve the service it claims to offer members. As a comparison, Puregym equipment and studios are by far in a better state when it is supposed to be a budget gym.
Negative experience: The centre is extremely oversubscribed for its small size and this leads to a host of problems with overcrowding. On the gym floor itself it is a frequent occurrence that all stations will be occupied and backed up with demand, leading to tedious and frustrating periods of waiting around during a workout, and there is very little space on the gym floor even to stand around and wait. Once using a station I also find there is very limited space to move and I am constantly watching my back to ensure I don't collide with another member. Similarly, the pool is often at maximum capacity for practical swimming; any more than five people and I find I'm colliding with others. On more than one occasion, I have had a member request (even insist) to share the single lane at the far side of the pool with me, which is simply not practical. The demand on classes is also extremely frustrating, with classes becoming fully booked often within hours of becoming available. This leads to a never-ending game of chicken with the wait list and it is clear there is a culture of book first cancel later among most members, making it very hard to plan class attendance in advance. When I am able to attend, the small size of the studio means that at its maximum capacity (a mere 20) it is again extremely hard to work out effectively without tripping over other members. All of these factors combined mean that visiting the gym becomes a question of which activity I can practically do at any given time rather than what I would like to do, and it certainly makes it almost impossible to follow any preset fitness plan. Indeed my fitness plan now largely revolves around what I think I can get away with. Despite being on a peak hours membership, I find myself often arranging my time around the quiet hours at the gym and even then I find myself frequently leaving early in frustration. Beyond overcrowding, I also find the gym facilities themselves to be significantly left wanting especially given the price of membership and the marketing towards the more luxury end of the market. Equipment on the gym floor is old and outdated. There are often parts missing, such as clamps and carabiners, and there are rarely enough weights to go around. The pool area is also extremely small given the number of members who wish to use it, and is further cluttered by a half-hearted scattering of deck chairs occupying a space barely wide enough to walk through. The removal of the hot tub after months of closure is also disappointing. The changing rooms like all other facilities are frequently overcrowded, such that I am regularly having to move around other members whilst getting changed. Further, the changing rooms are often dirty and unkempt and are almost always cold. The same is true of the coffee lounge at the front of the centre, and the air conditioning in the studio hardly works at all. When I signed up for Nuffield I did so conscious that I was paying a premium above other gyms in the area for a more relaxing and luxury experience. In the time since joining, Nuffield has risen the price of my membership and yet the experience I have upon every visit is the opposite of relaxing or rejuvenating. Visiting the gym is now a source of stress and annoyance such that my visits have steadily become shorter and less frequent and I have resorted to cancelling my annual membership early.
Negative experience: Old equipment needs updating. Lots of Machined out of order. Jacuzzi has been shut down. Music is always bad. A great place for older people to work out and socialise but not a motivational place to be inspired if you’re weight training
Positive experience: Not much area for actual weightlifting. Barely any mirrors in the gym to check form. No towels provided like other Nuffield Healths. No parking. Feels out-dated.
Negative experience: Really disappointing facilities. Machines that clearly need updating and cleaning. Swimming pool is dirty, sauna is filthy and changing rooms look like they belong in the 90’s. Not sure how they can charge £87 for a membership. Desperately needs modernising
Negative experience: Swimming pool is quite small and always busy. Classes always over subscribed after about 5 mins of being available online. Facilities looking a bit tired now and in need of refreshing. It used to be much better but they've clearly oversubscribed their membership base and haven't invested in that facilitates. Hardly use my membership now as I can never book on classes. Was kicked in the pool by a woman and she didn't want to share a lane with me. Can't wait to come out of my contract so I can leave.
Negative experience: Terrible service/staff how can they have trials where you book a slot in time/date but when showing up they refuse entry because it’s abit busy, then they ask to return tomorrow where I had the exact same problem refused entry, such a waste of time. How do you expect to bring in customers when you turn them down twice absolutely stupid. And if it is too busy contact customers or unable for people to book in that slot online not wait till they show up at the door.
Negative experience: Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to express my disappointment with the customer service at your gym. On 3rd June, I encountered a group of three individuals at the swimming pool who were causing disturbance and being intimidating to other customers. These individuals were splashing around in the pool and behaving in a manner which was clearly not appropriate. I approached the receptionist to seek assistance in resolving the issue. However, to my dismay, the receptionist was not able to offer any immediate help to address the situation. Given the nature of the disturbance caused by the three individuals, it was concerning that the receptionist did not escalate the matter or call security to deal with it. This resulted in a sense of fear and anxiety amongst the other customers at the pool. Moreover, the customer service at the gym is overall subpar, and I expected better from a well-established gym like yours. As a customer, I value a safe and peaceful environment, and the actions of the three individuals were not acceptable in the setting of a gym. I am therefore writing this complaint to request that your customer service teams be enhanced to ensure that situations like this are addressed promptly and effectively. Additionally, the pool area needs more supervision to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
Negative experience: My membership term had ended and I was no longer under contract and I had made every payment on time. The club closed their jacuzzi facilities and I have been on long term sick leave, so I haven't used the club for a few months. For these reasons I requested an immediate cancellation. I was refused immediate cancellation by the manager James Chandler, despite providing every bit of evidence. The manager was adamant that I had to provide a final month's payment. I emailed to notify that unless my membership was cancelled with immediate effect, I would be cancelling it through my bank. They did not respond. I then recieved a call to say my account was in arrears, meaning that this could now affect my credit rating, as I had technically missed a direct debit payment. After making complaint to head office I was emailed back by the manager to accept my membership cancellation today. Why make me, someone who is unwell and sick, go through all this? Why put someone sick through the wringer this way? Only to grant my initial request anyway. Is this what they call compassionate customer service? If this has affected my credit score, I will be taking them to court. How incredibly thoughtless and careless of them to treat paying customers this way. I am appalled and outraged. I am now making a formal complaint through head office and I want reassurance that my credit score is not affected.
Thanks for this feedback and apologies for the issues you had with the cancellation request. We can confirm that the spa pool is now permanently closed and we would like to apologise for the impact this will have on members that use this facility. Best Wishes, the Enfield Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: Jacuzzi hadn’t been accessible for 2/3 weeks. The barricades around it are really ugly and make the swimming area look cheap and nasty. I went to the chingford one in hope I can use the jacuzzi but they have the same issue .
Hi Robyn, thanks for this feedback and apologies for the impact this would have had on your visit. Unfortunately, we do need to confirm that we have closed spa pools across our estate including both our Enfield and Chingford locations. We would like to apologise to any members impacted. Best wishes, the Enfield Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: The two stars are for the sauna, swim area also the cleaning is very good. The staff acknowledge you as you walk in which is great. No kids, which is rare for a gym with a pool. However, the gym is terrible the equipment is old and dated. Once even staining my leggings, also missing new equipment like a stair master. Lack of space does not help! For the price it’s just not up to par but isn’t too busy which is good. If you into classes. Am really thinking to move to Chingford branch which is cheaper and has better facilities, new equipment and even a cafe. However it is really busy. Definitely in two minds, hopefully Enfield announce a refurb to the gym and even the changing area
Hi, thanks for this constructive feedback, whilst there are no immediate plans for a complete gym floor upgrade, we will be implementing some changes in the coming months, to both this area and the changing rooms. Best regards, the Enfield Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: On the pricey side. Good swimming and sauna facilities, when the sauna and steam room are actually operational, they are closed very frequently. Unfortunately the gym is lacking in its equipment so there are better options. The staff are mostly friendly! The manager is not. Beware the cancellation fee, you have to cancel and notify them a month in advance so it's a way of them legally taking money if you no longer want a membership!
Thanks for this feedback Tom and apologies for the issues you experienced with the spa facilities. You are correct, we do need a full months notice to cancel. So if cancellation request is received on the 31st of January, for example, one further direct debit will be taken and the membership ended for the end of February. Best wishes, the Enfield Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: I've recently moved to the area and called up to see if there was an option for a free day trial. Instantly shut down by the guy on the phone. They just wanted to get off the phone as quickly as possible. Cheers
Dear K, Thank you for this feedback. I can confirm that we don’t currently offer any free trials. You can however purchase guest passes via Classpass.com I am sorry that we couldn’t accommodate you in this instance, I hope we can welcome you to the club soon. With regards, The Nuffield Health Enfield Senior Management Team
Negative experience: 12 mon. contract and no option 2 cancel what great service..........just don't join save u r time
Dear Kostadin, Thank you for this feedback. Our 12-month contracts provide a significant discount, in return you are committed to the club for a minimum term. For more flexibility we do have the option of the rolling monthly contract, at a higher monthly rate. With regards, The Nuffield Health Enfield Senior Management Team
Fantastic experience: Staff is amazing really helpful really kind and patient. Not busy place like david lloyds really nice showers and changing rooms. Sauna steam room its all good size. Relaxing quite place to relax
Dear Member, Thank you very much for this positive feedback and 5* review, we are very pleased to read you are enjoying your patronage of our Enfield Fitness and Wellbeing Centre. With regards, The Nuffield Health Enfield Senior Management Team
Positive experience: A nice place, staff were great, I came here as a one off from my regular site and found that you need to bring you own padlock for the lockers. Staff were kind enough to let me borrow one of theirs. I do wish that all branches had a bit more consistency though with lockers, last week i went to a different branch and needed a £1 coin which i didn't have, so was sure to bring it to this one which I was wrong about. My base gym has a coded system for lockers. So I've been to 3 different gyms in a week all with different locker systems. I only used the pool and sauna facilities and didn't have a look at the gym. Pool is large and heated with a nice armosphere. My issue is that the pool isn't divided into lanes. There's one lane (which is usually meant for lessons) and then the rest of the pool is open. People don't often come to these places just to splash in the water (especially at 7am) so why not divide the whole pool into lanes. Its evidently an issue as so many people clearly wanted to use the one lane but it was a little busy. Showers and changing rooms were fine and I really like the sauna here, very spacious and a good temperature.
Dear Member, Thank you taking the time to provide this feedback. Your comments regarding locker mechanism systems has been noted and shared with our central operations team. There are no current plans to change the pool lane system, however we will consider this feedback on any future review. In the meantime, thank you again for taking the time to provide this feedback. With regards, The Nuffield Health Enfield Senior Management Team
Fantastic experience: Great gym, staff are very friendly.
Dear Kamal, Thank you for this lovely review. We are really pleased to read you are enjoying your visits to our club. With regards, The Nuffield Health Enfield Senior Management Team
Fantastic experience: My father loves this gym and their pool. Big thanks for Lewis for his amazing service and really nice contact:) Jackie is also very helpful!
Dear Weronika, Thank you for your review and lovely feedback, we are pleased to read your father is enjoying his gym experience With regards, The Nuffield Health Enfield Senior Management Team
Negative experience: Do not bother. Nuffield is Great but go to Chingford (Massive Sauna, Steam and Swimming pool, 2 Jacuzzi, and more Gym Equipment. Enfield Sydney Road will not be your money worth there is always something infix. Sauna, Steam and Jacuzzi had a problem toke them a couple of months to fix. The pandemic has been over a year and now they decide to fix the Steam which will take a couple of months. Sauna is small, Steam is small. Less equipment they reduce a couple of Equipment and just hogged the place up with a Treadmill. They have the Nuffield Brand but not living up to the standard. Chingford will be ur money worth for your 74 or 60-pound membership.
Dear Adam, Thank you for your review. We are sorry to read you have not enjoyed your visit to our club. Due to the limitations of the location we are in, we do have a different offering to neighbouring clubs. Your feedback with regards to the gym floor layout has been noted. Thank you again for this critical feedback. With regards, The Nuffield Health Enfield Senior Management Team
Negative experience: Small stuffy gym with poor equipment choices and overpriced membership. The pro’s: -has a pool and sauna -Good for Yoga and Body Balance classes The cons: - The whole decor is outdated - You can tell whoever designed the gym hasn’t trained a day in his/her life. Half the machines are pointless (much better alternatives out there / trains a muscle in an uncomfortable ROM etc), whilst they are lacking what I would see as key equipment. - The ceiling is so low that you can’t overhead press, can’t do a full ROM pull-up without hitting your head etc. I can’t even stand up fully in the deadlift area. Yes that’s right! I’m unable to stand up in a public gym - The heavy bag is too low for me to use - Fairly limited classes. The Yoga and Body Balance classes are good. However, there’s very little of interest in the evenings which is when I’d like to train. - The thick concrete walls block out phone signal and there’s no wifi. This leaves you without music if you use a streaming service. - The gym closes at 8pm on Sunday. Overall, this is an average gym compared to others. However, if I compare it only to others in the same price range it is the worst I’ve visited. It would be nice if another company bought this place, scrapped the pool and extended the gym area. Update 3/5/2022: I put in a request to cancel my membership and eventhough I’ve been paying extra for a monthly contract I have been forced to pay for the next 2-months membership. After querying it the manager was pretty useless. This is without a doubt the worst gym I have dealt with.
Dear Tom, Thank you for this feedback and for taking the time to provide this detail. Your critical feedback has been noted and shared with the management team here at the Enfield Club. We hope that we can welcome you back in the future. With regards, The Nuffield Health Enfield Senior Management Team
Negative experience: I paid £ 100 for registration for joint account to this gym. They said joint couple it is £70 Per Month. After 3 weeks by direct debits charge me £140 so the total payment from an couple has been £ 240 in less then one month I will not recommend to joining to this gym group Nuffield Health
Dear Gabriel, Thank you for your review. Whilst we cannot comment on specific cases. We are sorry if there was any error on our part. We hope we can welcome you back to the club in the future. With regards, The Nuffield Health Enfield Senior Management Team
Fantastic experience: Awesome swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi. Cute little gym. Very professional staff I love all the glasses and boxing as well. So happy. The only bad thing is the price...too expensive.
Hello, thank you for your feedback and 5* rating. Best regards, Nuffield Health Enfield Fitness & Wellbeing Gym.
Fantastic experience: clean gym, great equipment.
Hi Lenora, thanks very much for the positive feedback. The Nuffield Health Enfield Fitness & Wellbeing team.
Fantastic experience: Clean, nice friendly staff and lots of classes
Negative experience: Attended gym at 9.15pm. Fully aware that the site closes at 10pm. Wanted to have a quick sauna and steam. At 9.30pm was told by cleaners while in the steam room that I would have to leave as they arr closing. Fully appreciate the area needs to be shut down and cleaned but 9.45pm is reasonable. 30 mins is not! A lady manager came down and said this is how things are done and they have different rules to my home branch Frien Barnet! Really pathetic behaviour that needs to be highlighted.
Fantastic experience: Probably one of the best gyms in the world
Positive experience: Good facilities, well kept locker rooms, sauna is decent standard
Negative experience: Swimming pool closed.
Positive experience: Great gym.
Fantastic experience: Recommended, no kids!
Fantastic experience: Loved it great and friendly gym , never really busy , the yoga is very good
Positive experience: Ok gym, SOME friendly staff SOME not so friendly. A bit expensive considering and I was on a discount scheme. Had a PT there for a year and stopped talking to me since I cancelled for constantly being late. Facilities are ok. Not overcrowded gym which is good. Some of the equipment could be upgraded and no parking which is a pain. Not been since covid shutdown and since cancelled my membership.
Dear Costa, Thank you for your review and feedback regarding our club. We hope we can welcome you back in the future. With regards, The Nuffield Health Enfield Senior Management Team
Fantastic experience: Excellent equipment and helpful staff. Steam room and sauna are very good and complement the facilities. Changing rooms spacious and clean. Lockers are free to use. Ample free parking on site.
Negative experience: This is gym with absolutely horrendous service . Won't let you in despite having a membership just going to stick to Wimbledon branch.
Fantastic experience: Stay Fit...
Positive experience: Gym is great. But maintenance is lacking. And when things are broken your membership remains the same.
Positive experience: Small quirky, adults only, gym and pool with professional, friendly staff always willing to help. Range of classes is good but you have to book up quickly as they soon fill up. Members and instructors are also friendly and I enjoy my visits. Facilities are mainly clean although it would be great if a better more attention could be paid to changing rooms at very busy times. Towels seem to be a bit of an issue here with one (and only one) towel per visit. They are quite small and a challenge which is a nightmare if you have long hair and are going for a swim.
Positive experience: Needs some refurb but great when sauna steam is working
Negative experience: Avoid. Prices increase whenever they feel like it. With NO improvements made to any facilities or equipment. Yet, they've removed facilities and still increasing prices... yet no explanation or reasoning. Absolutely disgraceful.
Negative experience: Pretty average - but best of a poor selection in Enfield; it's poor value for money versus the likes of Reading or Central locations (Nuffield like for like). The aircon is never on (or broken or ineffective - unsure which) and their "one towel" policy is a bit of a joke when they expect c£140 a month for a couple - also curiously applied, if you visit 12 times a week, 12 towels? But visit once and take 2 towels - not okay. The gym is tired, the changing rooms are ancient and the facilities old and often broken down (running machines for instance, broken fans, and very old technology compared to others - sauna, hot tub etc are often broken). The gym is a strange layout with no windows (nothing they can do - but again, the value for money point) - but as mentioned above, nothing is as bad as the aircon, the air is often stale or sweaty, not particularly nice. Would I recommend? I'd shrug my shoulders and ask where else. The proximity to the station drives me reluctantly to staying a member, but unless you like the location, my wife having used both recommends David Lloyd.
Negative experience: Staff members utterly disgusting customer service. Avoid at all costs, pay a little bit more elsewhere. Was so disgusted by receptionist Anthony attitude I walked back out and decided to go elsewhere. AVOID!
Fantastic experience: great club staff friendly and helpful
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff,
Negative experience: I have never experienced a business that relies on membership so poorly run. They change the membership rules or make them up as they go along. My experience at this club have been raised at to head office.
Negative experience: Warning do not sign up to be a member of this gym. There are many others better and cheaper! Limited equipment and odd shaped gym. Tired looking, dirty, disgusting gym and with very poor, bad service. Was given misinformation by “manager” Anthony and his staff. They chose to close the sauna area down early before time and pretended their times had changed. Different staff gave me different times and members I spoke to did not know about any changes to the times. They are basically liars, lazy and treating members like dirt and want to get rid of you ASAP. The gym is a joke, an embarrassment to Nuffields. No wonder why Virgin decided to dump it.
Negative experience: After 1.5 years paying my monthly fee in Nuffield and I never felt bad treated by the personnel. I used to go to Angel Gym and there people are always lovely. In here the second time I came a member of the stuff was very comfortable talking with the receptionist and I asked to leave my kick scooter in reception as I always do in Angel. Here the man says - you can but there is not insurance for that here. Then when I asked for using a second towel he treated me as stupid and told me Islington branch is another place here we have our rules so you can’t get a second towel. I fortunately you need to put one star to rate this place. This gym deserves a 0. I never want to rate a place badly because of one person but if I don’t nothing changes and I am paying money in here.
Negative experience: Free weights area is very small. One squat rack, Smith machine and couple of benches. I went during the day but can imagine that there is not enough space in the evenings. Machines are really old and out of date. Best to sign up to pure gym if you can. Changing rooms are extremely hot as they have no air conditioning. This gym justification for its high price is just wrong. Swimming pool, sauna and steam room were very good though.
Fantastic experience: I have attended this place for my physiotharapy session. It was fantastic and full of information; the reception staff were wonderful and friendly. It surely made me want to come again and sign up for the gym. Tidy, clean, friendly. Excellent !
Positive experience: Love the pool and steam. Nice facilities.
Fantastic experience: Calming and relaxing swim sauna steam and jacuzzi so good staff friendly too
Positive experience: Great place to have your medical very knowledgeable staff.
Positive experience: Service is excellent. Care with Fungus haven (use a fungal preventative if you use their changing room and value your toes).
Fantastic experience: Great place for workout and relax.
Positive experience: Helpful staff with good facilities. Some improvement would make this place great, e.g. The cardio machines don't have heart rate functionality working and the quality of towels. I strongly feel they should be improved. Otherwise, I'm happy with the gym. The best pool, steam and sauna in town.
Positive experience: Staff is lovely and always ready to help. The facility is clean. However the weight room is freezing cold with air conditioning and it is always very busy and sometimes you have to queue to use the equipment. The changing room is always busy.
Positive experience: Good gym
Positive experience: Very friendly staff, make you feel welcome
Negative experience: Gym equipment is tired and needs replacing; as a long standing member I remember when it was renewed - 10 years+ ago.,.. time to change guys!
Fantastic experience: Clean, tidy and lovely staff
That's great to hear, thank you Reece for your 5* rating. Kind regards, Nuffield Health Enfield Fitness & Wellbeing Gym
Negative experience: Overpriced for what it is. If you use more than one Nuffield then i would add a star. Staff ring you daily before signing up but once signed up and email them with query they dont want to know. Sauna and steamroom is ok but training and cardio machines dated and out of service for weeks. Overall average experience and the best of a poor bunch in the area.

Thanks Alex for your 4* rating, we're pleased you're enjoying the gym facilities. Kind regards, Nuffield Health Enfield Fitness & Wellbeing Gym
Positive experience: Friendly PTs & staff, not too busy, great classes. Excellent equipment. Lovely pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Appears to get cleaned often except for the studio room floor and mats. Two towels would be great when using the pool, sauna, etc and for the price paying. Overall a pretty great gym for all, newbies and fitness pros.
Thank you for your feedback, Moni. I'll be sure to pass your comments regarding the towels on to our Operations team. Kind regards, Nuffield Health Enfield Fitness & Wellbeing Gym
Negative experience: The most unprofessional staff I've ever seen. Even in Mcdonalds the staff is better... Small not very clean and really silly manager she won't even come to talk to you when you ask for her ♀️ I wouldn't recommend this gym to anybody also cuz I'm living in that building and I should have a discount so instead of 75 I should pay 68... My husband pay 68 and they charge me 75 they keep saying I can't have the discount but we live in same flat in that building and proved that my address is there and I still payed 75... never do a contract with them I'm really angry.. if this is not important for that manager who didn't come to talk to me when I asked for her then I don't know what else to say... Sad

Positive experience: This used to be my home club, I visited again after 2 years to find that they no longer provide towels and apparently this is permanent. No idea why as other Nuffields do still provide towels. Men's changing rooms in particular are small and quite run down. Gym floor is ok, although equipment is slightly outdated vs other clubs (personally not too fussed about that as it does the job). Pool area is really nice..it has a cozy feel. Staff are really nice.
Dear Amit, Thank you for this feedback and for taking the time to provide this detail. To minimise membership price increases we have taken the tough decision to not renewal our towel hire service, following the removal of the towel provision, at the beginning of the pandemic. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. With regards, The Nuffield Health Enfield Senior Management Team
Positive experience: Mixed feelings. If you're wanting to put on size through free weights it's alright as there are plenty of bummbells and free bars available. Plenty of cardio stuff, nice pool and classes are available. For the novice this place will do just fine. Usually the staff are nice and quite welcoming. However, on a bad day, you might want to stay cleared this place. If you're a power lifter or someone who likes to train as such, probably not the best option! I usually like to take my shoes off to squat and deadlift which, I know, can be seen as a safety issue, but it works for me as I can make sure I drive up through my heels, saving my knees. As I don't have a pair of lifting shoes yet, barefoot was MY choice. I was made to put my running shoes back on even though I explained barefoot (in socks) gives me a better way of driving the weight up as I am more stable on the ground. My knee is now playing up and it ruined my workout. POOR ADVICE GIVEN TO SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEYRE DOING WITH THEIR BODY. They should have a way to allow people to do this, like a waiver or something. Overall not a bad gym but please give advice to those who clearly need it (as I've seen a few cases where someone could get injuries through poor form with nothing said).

Positive experience: Good gym with a swimming pool, can look a bit dated in places but has a nice community feel with lots of classes that are well attended by regulars.
Negative experience: Used to be a lot better
Good Afternoon James. Thank you for your 4* rating, we appreciate your positive feedback. Kind regards, Nuffield Health Enfield Fitness & Wellbeing Gym
Positive experience: Oasis of well being in Enfield. Friendly staff and members. Sauna, steamer, swimming pool, excellent gym equipment and excellent yoga instructors almost everyday. Good value for money
Positive experience: The gym is small, but the equipment is excellent and well maintained...staff are friendly...showers and changing rooms are kept clean...!
Positive experience: Expensive, small and no free parking. Now at David Lloyds- even more expensive but the extra costs are justified!!!
Positive experience: Very expensive but very good quality. Facilities and staff are excellent. Get what you pay for.
Negative experience: Overall extremely disappointed. Weight section very small and there is always someone on the equipment. Very small swimming pool as it only fits 5 people comfortably. Also very dirty which I had complained about but not taken seriously. This is very off putting and not something you would expect for the price you pay. Very friendly when getting prospective members to sign up. They offer you tea and coffee, however they are not as attentive once you are signed up. Classes are the worst! Aimed at 80+ years and therefore not good for people who want to break a sweat. There are less than 2 fast classes which are fast paced. Extremely over priced gym. I was taken in by the free towels, 'clean' pool and the the promise of an unparalleled service. However, I have now left and joined my local leisure centre which is much better. Don't waste your money. If I could give it less than one star I would.
Negative experience: This is a good club overall, i liked the facilities and the general ambience of the gym. Unfortunately one of the members of staff felt it was ok to mock me and laugh at my expense in front of others. He is a beefed up good looking gentleman, and I, an overweight and already self-conscious person going to the gym to better myself. I was bullied, secondary school style and made to feel worthless. I sat in the dressing room for 10 minutes wondering what had just happened before I left feeling disgraced. I complained to Virgin, who claimed to take this very seriously. The staff member is still there and I have been given a verbal apology! Anyone who thinks this is ok, to belittle and damage someone personally, and then simply say sorry is not realistic and I challenge that by inviting you to the restaurant where I work and I will damage your jacket and then simply say sorry without any compensation! And thats a jacket, an OBJECT, not your self-respect, your confidence and your self-worth.
Negative experience: small free weights section, with lots of meat heads! no free parking anywhere. showers never work. The best thing is the pool but its not worth the money.
