Our comment from FitFit UK about CompTTEC:
CompTTEC, located in Birmingham, is a sports center that offers a mixed experience to its visitors. While many users appreciate the fantastic fitness club atmosphere, low membership fees, and the presence of spa facilities including a swimming pool, sauna, and steam room, there are significant concerns regarding cleanliness and staff engagement.
Some of the key aspects highlighted by reviewers include:
- Positive Attributes:
- Accessible location and affordable membership.
- Good range of classes and spa facilities.
- Friendly reception staff, although engagement varies.
- Clean swimming pool and well-maintained sauna areas.
- Areas for Improvement:
- Inconsistent communication and management issues.
- Staff friendliness and professionalism need attention.
- Facility cleanliness is often reported as inadequate.
- Gym equipment is sometimes overcrowded and in need of updates.
Despite some negative reviews, many users enjoy their time at CompTTEC, especially for swimming and fitness classes. Overall, this center offers decent facilities for the price, although management and hygiene could use improvements.
CompTTEC: Opinions
Negative experience: Poor communication. They don't inform the customers about anything. They don't reply to emails either. So if you need answers you will have to wait for them to open which also you dont even know when they will open because they don't inform the public.
Negative experience: Very nice location although lack of parking, this place has poor management and even more rude staff, very bad experience overall
Negative experience: Dirty pool and rude stuff
Negative experience: Tiny gym. Regret that i get a membership here
Negative experience: Reception doesn't seem interested in winning over customers The first response you get is "Everything is on the website"...oh great so there's no need for you then! 2 stars for not wasting my time
Fantastic experience: Vou todos os dias
Negative experience: Gym not big enough to accommodate the demand!
Negative experience: Staff are rude and place is filthy. Worst gym going
Negative experience: Very small place and when you wanna quit they rip you off
Fantastic experience: Fantastic fitness club!
Fantastic experience: Great place to exercise & swim, fabulous for pampering to ur needs, there's classes on too!!
Negative experience: I don't recommend this place..I joined because they had a pool ..but it's not a nice pool the tiles are broken and chipped and it feels dirty in there.. the gym is ok to be honest..but no staff around to ask any questions to and it was very hot in there in the summer... they had portable fans dotted around which were not very effective ...then there is the staff some were helpful and seemed approachable..but most of them hardly speak to you even when you ask them some thing.. they look uninterested and you feel like you have inconvenienced them .., oh yes and then there is the member ship ... be warned if you miss any payments or cancel direct debit by mistake..they send you to a debt collected...
Negative experience: This gym is shocking. I went there earlier just for a quick shower. When i got there around 2.15pm i could not get a towel with my towel card! The Asian guy on reception said they dont give out towels any more and if i wanted one i had to buy it or pop across the road to BM bargains! Could not believe it. A gym not handing out towels.Terrible customer service, horrible gym and unfriendly members. Will not be going back there.
Negative experience: Definitely not recommending at all. Don't get yourself tricked on what they call SPECIAL OFFER! IT'S A LIE!!!! Trickery level is dispicable! Very basic, full of bacteria Simply not wort it Sorry to be honest
Fantastic experience: A very pleasant and relaxing gym to visit and enjoy
Fantastic experience: Great
Fantastic experience: Went with a friend Gym is small and doesn't offer much for my taste. But has what it needs. Swimming pool is nice Cold showers are lovely there Sauna Steam room Jacuzzi Friendly staff and members It's a type of gym that you should go with a friend rather than alone
Positive experience: Rubbish air conditioning
Negative experience: The place is at the convenient location. However, be aware there are thieves in the place. My locker had been forced open in the men's changing room. Stuff being stolen. People lost their mobile phones. The local stuff cannot do anything to prevent this to happen. Though this is the problem of the whole country in the UK. The place in the city centre of Birmingham especially makes it vulnerable.
Negative experience: Very poor service swimming pool freezing cold and nothing work properly very dirty and smells
Positive experience: Gym is decently equipped and has regular classes for the current price that includes a swimming pool, sauna/steam room and hydropool. Their pricing strategy is their selling point at the moment. It is not as busy as the other gums in town, so queuing up is not a major issue if you time your workout. They also have hair dryers and a dryer for swimwear, this is a big plus. The atmosphere isn't as great as the other town centre gyms, staff are a lot more engaing and in terms of space it is much smaller. It is a worthy alternative if you fancy paying a little more for a swim.
Positive experience: Spa facilities include swimming pool, hydrotherapy, sauna and steam room. Plenty of loungers great value for money for just these services alone.
Fantastic experience: Great gym
Positive experience: The place itself is Ok, but the staff like to gather in the reception, try to communicate with them, you get one word responses, this company needs older or mature staff i reckon. There needs to be staff allocated about to do things around the gym, that would allow them to interact with the people who enable them to get paid. But overall the gym is nice
Fantastic experience: Just love to come here
Positive experience: Good gym
Positive experience: The sauna, steam room swimming pool area is what makes this gym special. The weights room is too small and fitness room just ok but overall I like the health club.
Positive experience: I seem to always sign back up to this gym after trying other places. It's not an impressive new building, it's a little bit dated and there is no free parking - although you do get a substantial discount in the adjoining multi-storey which has the smallest spaces ever!! Why bother? Because you will not find another gym in the City Centre with a swimming pool, hydrotherapy pool, sauna and steam room, great classes and decent Technogym kit for less than £20. If you work in town, already have parking sorted or get public transport in then it's well worth it. If not, then by the time you've factored in the cost of the parking, you could probably afford a subscription somewhere posher.
Fantastic experience: Visited using my pay as you gym app. Friendly and quality. Picked up what I thought was a slam ball only to discover it to be a basketball when it shot back from a slam to hit me in the left eye and near knocked me out. I really hope it was captured on cctv as it would have been funny to all watching
Positive experience: If you want to see me in swimming trunks, this is THE place to go
Negative experience: Only came here cause I was in Birmingham for a few days Got a freebie day pass from a website. Glad I did not pay would have been £15 not worth Disliked the layout Not enough of a variety when it comes to weighted machines People pay £20 a month, not worth it even with the swimming pool I wish I went to emporium instead
Negative experience: Chose not to join the gym in the end because of reception overcrowding with staff joking around which does not look professional i dont nkow if this happens all the time as its my first time there in about 6 years but first impressions stick in your head right. I would Give advice dont overcrownd front desk fooling around somone go on the gym floor and help retain members have a dedicated sales rep or some one who can naturally sell
Fantastic experience: Great workout nice stuff
Positive experience: Friendly people but place could do with a bit of life injecting in it. Seems dead
Negative experience: Swimming pool and jacuzzi and sauna is never working.
Positive experience: Nice gym good facilities and cheap membership
Negative experience: Drew ricketts rude no manners at all. First he was ok since he be came gym manager the power he thinks he can say anything to anyone . He act like he owns the gym. He keep saying to people it's his gym . Body language changed as well . Eveytime walking round asked people why don't go home but it's up 2 people how long they want to stay he act's like we don't pay for the membership it's free . Some one need see how he speak to member's.
Positive experience: Relly nice place !
Positive experience: First visit, only a small place , but more than adequate! Loved it
Negative experience: Poor for Bannatyne's Dirty, poor layout, equipment faulty. Full of people who think going to the gym is wearing a hoody and looking in the magic mirrors.
Positive experience: Clean
Fantastic experience: Nice place very open.
Negative experience: Dirty, overpriced, poor customer service. I would avoid if I was you.
Fantastic experience: for 20 qwid a month for gym 2 types of sauna and a swim u cant go wrong
Negative experience: For my birthday I decided to treat my Mother and myself to a spa 3 treatments even though it was £119 I decided it was well needed due to losing my Stepfather to cancer and being a full time carer for two disabled boys I wanted to fully destress as a treat. I was informed you have to hire the robes and towels but you can keep the flip flops and bag. We were told to fill in forms and we will be shown where to change etc. After filling in the forms and awaiting over 15 minutes like sitting ducks with the reception desk still remaining as empty as a Residents Evil game I went to to find a member of staff. I was told someone will be with me shortly. Its only when I stated we had been waiting over 15 minutes then we were then taken to the treatment room. The woman then asked if I had ever had a bamboo stick massage before. I said no hence why I wanted to try one. She said they are very intense I said I have sports massages every 2 weeks due to working out regular she then told me its more intense I said I think I can handle it as a previous doorwoman working on the doors and being axe kicked in the head I can handle it. The facial left my skin very dry and I exfoliate every week yet my skin felt drier even after it having cream applied afterwards. The scalp massage was rushed and more the same way you pat a dog on it's head to fuss. I expected a indian head type of massage but it was more like the mini scalp 1 minute massage you receive at the hair salon when they apply a treatment mask! I was then informed another member of staff will carry out my massage. OMG I was informed there had been a mix up and she cannot carry out the bamboo massage as shes not qualified too. I then said I will have the deep tissue massage instead even though I paid and requested the bamboo massage last week when I booked. She then told me she doesn't do deep tissue but will apply more pressure. I couldn't believe it as a regular user of sports massages that work on deep tissues this felt the same as when you request a partner to massage you. It wasn't 25 minutes and made my back feel more tense than relaxed! Shocked at such farcical treatments I complained. I was told that the manager isn't there until Sunday but when I stated that it's ruined my birthday a manager appeared out of no where. I found her to be very unhelpful and lacking customer service skills, having worked myself at the front of house receptionist at a gym I was astonished she classed herself as a manager. She said she cannot speak to the therapists as they are all with clients at the moment I said well how quick my treatments were they will not be long! I then requested her managers contact details as I wanted to speak to someone who is higher than herself. I also explained that she isn't aware of the famous footballer I am dating if she knew she wouldn't speak in the manner she has! Avoid like the plague. It's the first and last time for me!!!
Positive experience: Went with mother in law for a spa day found on group on. Was nice.
Negative experience: No-one follows gym etiquette. Needs an revamp
Fantastic experience:
Negative experience: Staff is biggest let down in this place
Negative experience: Gym is equipped fairly with clean equipment but worst customer service I have ever seen. They usually put on the ACs on even in winter season, therefore barbells become untouchable from how cold they get. So, i asked them if they can crank down the ACs a little because clearly the temperature was less than 17 degrees, no kidding! They didnt even provide me with a proper explanation and told me to just deal with it. Also when i came on 4th of november to cancel my subscription for november they told me that I had to come on november 1 exactly and when I came to them on 27 september they told me to wait until november 1. So they give you only till the 1st of november as a slot to cancel otherwise ur the wrong one. Very poor staff, unfriendly and they always think theyre right and the customers are wrong and all of them literally hate listening to you and are so stubborn!!! Unfortunately management is not very smart enough to realize that there is competition and they charge a premium for their service relative to other gyms like puregym or thegym
Negative experience: Have been a member @ this club for over the course of the last 5 to 6 years on and off. Just coming back recently ans there has been a major staff change, no old staff remain. Come to find out the Spa treatment facility has been removed. They will also removing the towel service soon which is highly inconvenient. This is one of the cheapest branches there is to join which comes to no surprise as that reflects the service you receive. Something is always not working. The showers are filthy and smell vile. The customer service is Appauling, female staff members in particular always chatting at front desk and make no aknowledgment when standing at the dront desk. They ignore you when youre waiting to be served. The only reason why I have ever joined this branch was due to the convenience of location. Will be joining elsewhere, wouldent be surprised if this closes down soon the way things are going.
Negative experience: Wont recomend this gym to anyone. They charge you extra if you want to quit the gym.
Positive experience: It's ok
Negative experience: The definition of poor customer service is Bannatynes. I came to the Gym this morning and the duty Manager Drew says we don't have towels today all day and I was shocked to see that not even that is not sorry. Then I go to wait in the studio to wait for my class and they made an announcement that the class is cancelled, later on I go back to ask Drew to show me how to use the Rower machine how it works and get extremely shocked by his answer : I don't know how to use it. Wooo if you are like me passionate about customer service my advice is KEEP AWAY FROM THIS GYM.
Negative experience: Pretty much always packed. Showers are rarely warm. People shave their body then go for a dive in the pool... Yeah I'd skip this gym no matter the price
Negative experience: جيد
Fantastic experience: Nice refurb.
Negative experience: DO NOT USE - Poor experience with these guys - I signed up to them after moving up from Oxford as they are in the City Centre and seemed convenient. I started travelling during the week so cancelled my membership online, which was all done automatically. I actually moved bank accounts shortly after so my direct debit information changed over, the Bannatyne one was not changed. Instead of giving me a reminder via email, phone, call, post to pay the final monthly fee - they passed the charges on to a debt collection agency. This is just gross! I would expect to have received communication before this happened, not a good position to be put into. Poor customer service, extremely poor management, and even worse communication!! Sack whoever is managing this place, as they are doing a terrible job!
Positive experience: Direction to were we had to go was good from staff. Just disappointed that air con wasn't on, we had to ask and it was hot sunny day.
Fantastic experience: The pool, sauna and steam rooms are clean. The only annoying thing is the other customers tend to shout and it ruins the tranquility
Negative experience: I left my shampoo in the shower room for like 15 seconds and it's gone. Lost my umbrella few months ago too. There are thieves in the gym and nobody can do anything about it.
Positive experience: Good gym, great pool and excellent classes. Gets very busy though at peak times
Fantastic experience: Wonderful
Positive experience: Gym has everything you need but is a bit old. Changing rooms are really old and smell. Showers are also dirty and old. Staff are nice but the changing room really let's the gym down
Fantastic experience: Great location with great facilities & friendly, approachable staff
Fantastic experience: Good place for exercise
Negative experience: Worst experience ever
Fantastic experience: Good GYM worth every penny staff are good a good all rounder worth it
Positive experience: Good place but the showers are freezing
Fantastic experience: I love it. Have your daily workout and when you are finished you can go down stairs to the pool area where you've got the sauna and steam room. Do I think the gym could use a lil more space? Yes definitely! But that doesn't change it being a really good gym
Positive experience: Needs some updating but I guess that's why it's only £20 a month
Fantastic experience: Amazing staff
Positive experience: Good gym too packed out
Positive experience: Needs better hygiene
Negative experience: Staff seem too laid back, the female staff are always looking miserable, not helpful tend to be glued to reception. Staff eat on reception which is not a good look, staff not got a professional approach to guests one in particular named Poppy who is very rude and swears. Pool always got too much chlorine and no attendant. Will not be returning.
Negative experience: Basic gym, members are horrible, would not recomend
Fantastic experience: Something that I was looking for a long time. Small but well managed gym what is not crowded. Never was waiting for a equipment. Also there is spa, sauna and swimming pool. The pool is always empty. BEST GYM I HAVE ATTENDED IN BRUM.
Negative experience: Wow. I’m banned from the gym because I’m a Christian!!!!! 3 black man and myself were talking in that gym about Christianity , Ed James the director of Bannatyne gym said my membership is suspended , he can ban me for life ( thank you very much ) The showers are always cold , manager says come early for hot showers . People wearing jogging bottoms in the sauna . The staff are two faced they say one thing to your face when you make a complaint and another behind your back ! I can not even give one star it would be too much !!!!!!!!!
Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym! Had everything I needed and more. Very clean and modern. Staff were great and very helpful.
Positive experience: Friendly staff , who went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. Good range of classes to suit all ages.
Negative experience: Small and dirty pool. Sunna very crowded, small and dirty. Busy, unfriendly staff and not helpful. Always they give silly offer. Don't waste your time and money.
Fantastic experience: Too much chlorine in the water
Negative experience: I’ll start with that it’s completely rip off your money, even though it’s cheap only 19,99 per month but it’s not worth it, Gym is falling apart, dirty, the staff is not polite, personal trainers don’t do anything they just chatting to their mates and ignoring the people who actually need it some help, pool is very small a lot of hair in the showers and toilets that just putting off completely, looks like they have no cleaning service,or it’s only once a day in the evening... people at reception are quite nice and helpful so that’s the only good thing there.
Negative experience: I had a relaxing time
Fantastic experience: Excellent gym facilities
Positive experience: Great gym
Fantastic experience: Good health club. Love the sauna and swimming pool.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities but poor gym trainer people doing wrong exercise but no one is there for look after them
Fantastic experience: It's a good place to go
Fantastic experience: Great up to date facilities. Love the heated swimming pool.
Negative experience: Pool is very small and often crowded. Space is dirty and staff aren't helpful or even polite.
Positive experience: Worth the money staff good and helpful
Negative experience: Was going to join but after reading very bad reviews about staff it's put me right off.
Positive experience: Nice gym
Positive experience: Cheap , very good location, but Staff are not helpful.
Negative experience: Rude staff, small gym, dirty pool, Please don't visit this place
Negative experience: Freeweights area is way to small. Facilities not always working. Often have problems with hot water for the showers. Not a gym for the serious. More a gym for those not really taking their own health seriously. Duncan needs to splash some cash on this one.
Negative experience: Was going to join this gym.... until I read all these reviews. I don't fancy joining a gym with staff that are described the way they have been in these reviews. No thanks.
Negative experience: Over crowded specially pool are.always some thing broken .most of weekend cold water .staffs are friendly ....
Fantastic experience: I like so much this gym.. great staff and great facilities ..
