Everlast Gyms - Northfield

Fantastic experience: I used to love it here until my mate Brian please admitted he goes here to take it up the backdoors. So glad the place is closing down.

Positive experience: I have been a member since 2007, always lived within walking distance until I moved away to Worcester in 2019, but kept my membership going. Back in the day kids were only allowed in on Sunday to swim, I used to take my 3 there swimming while the staff sat on poolside as life guards. I wanted to go just once more to remember the happy hours we spent swimming and playing there when they were younger. Now all grown up with children of their own. I miss the original staff Steve Finch (dad had barbers on corner of Cliff Rock Road) and Lisa who were always happy to help you out with a training plan. I will be sorry to see the gym close, as it hold so many good memories for me, but time moves on and things change. Thank you to all that made it a good place to go.

Positive experience: Gyms ok, friendly but is becoming more and more rundown, lot of machines out of order, TV screens never on, jacuzzi broke since before Christmas, lot of lockers broke, private changing cubicles out of order, building seems to be falling down, not enough weight bars, but it only costs £20 a month. I gave it a generous 3 stars because people and staff are friendly.

Negative experience: Absolutely awful customer service would never recommend this gym.

Negative experience: I didn't even use the gym and paid membership for nothing. I went to settle my balance, to use the remaining of my membership and they couldn't take payment. My membership expired and still they direct debited my account. They then had the audacity to deny taking the money, when it's in black and white and say I still owe that money, when they've already taken it! Stay away from these people if you're new to the area.

Negative experience: Been a member for years and it’s completely gone downhill. For a start there’s no longer and cleaning equipment around, very unhygienic. The place isn’t even a gym anymore it’s a youth centre, full of deluded school kids. They just come to mess around, block the limited equipment available whilst just sat on their phones taking photos. Can hear the little gobshites even with earphones in. Needs some kind of age restriction, send them back to the actual youth centre down the road we pay taxes for.

Positive experience: Being a big lady trying to do something about it, ive found the staff friendly and reassuring, and other member kind.

Negative experience: Went to the Aqua aerobics & the class was over subscribed which isn't safe with so many people in the pool. It was obvious a lot of the attendees just joined in without booking & were jumping about & splashing around being a nuisance to people who want to exercise. These extras to the class were all very young & messing about in the pool as if they were in a pool abroad. This class is really for a more mature age group & we do not appreciate kids jumping around like they are at a waterpark. To be fair perhaps you could set a time just for younger people. Myself & my group of friends are considering moving to another gym due to this,plus my husband & his gym pals as we all feel that this gym is becoming more for kids/ young teenagers/ school children....such a shame so we are all looking for another gym to attend. One dissatisfied member

Negative experience: Quite possibly the dirtiest gym I've ever been to. Most public toilets are cleaner than the changing rooms and showers - looks like they haven't been cleaned in years. Tonnes of broken equipment. Entire place clapped out. No drinking water fountains or taps anywhere. Pool and steam sauna broken. Won't be joining. 2 stars because there is a huge amount of equipment (though 1/4 was broken!) plus a lot of space and it's very cheap to be a member, but it's cheap for a reason!

Positive experience: Could do with a freshen up but it's got what you need :) Changing rooms could do with a bit more of a dust and deep clean also. For the monthly cost you can't really complain :)

Negative experience: Cheap gym but I suppose you get what you pay for. I don’t think the place has ever been deep cleaned. Staff just seem to put the ‘wet floor’ signs out in the changing rooms to make it look like it’s been cleaned, but 6am you turn up and there’s still dried poo in the toilets. Hair and fluff all over the changing room floor. Crud at the bottom of the pool, steam and sauna out of order far too often. Machines never get upgraded or repaired quickly, no personal trainers here, music is mainly grime. The list goes on. But they do have a brand new sign out front so that’s good I suppose!

Positive experience: Gym equipment needs updating and there isn’t enough equipment at times to suit everyone, however the sauna is nice and people are pleasant

Fantastic experience: Joined last week, pool is great - its warmer than most I would say, a few comments on here saying its cold , I found it warmer than most local pools and very nice to, love that the showers are very powerful, for £20 a month you get allot for your money, my last gym was £70 per month with a pool that was colder lol, if you are looking for a decent gym and pool with less cost then this is the place, the gym has all the equipment you require

Negative experience: One of the worst gyms i have been to, Old equipment and full of kids.

Negative experience: Don’t recommend staff seem to not care wether you are there or not they are very tight and take peoples money also do not care for your safety, equipment is never in use either broken or taken by someone else, because this gym is low quality and local people seem to go here often waste of time do not recommend I do recommend pure gym, urban fitness, Northfields leisure centre

Negative experience: Most of machines broken, chairs of cycle bikes torn and adductor/abductor machine squeaking. Sauna and steam rooms are good if you happen to come on a day they are working. No one seems to care here! They just take people's money and offer poor quality service!!

Positive experience: Been going for a couple months now, noticed nothing is really clean. The pool for example, is rather filthy and has plenty of cracked tiles. Though this is more to owner/brand, not the staff here. The actual staff do the mopping and various things they can do regularly. They do not answer the phone. It doesn't matter when you call or how often, they will not answer except once in a blue moon. Staff are very polite and friendly, so if the owners could put some money in then this would be good.

Positive experience: Good gym reasonable amount of equipment could do with an update but gets the job done only negative I will say is too many teenagers being given memberships and never shown how to use equipment or how to turn there phones off when in the gym

Negative experience: I must say this gym is going down the hill. Been going there for years and I like the people and friendly atmosphere there. But the fact that more and more things are getting broken and not fixed soon after is frustrating. For example male showers out of order jacuzzi out of order far wall upstairs always replastered and repainted cause the cause of leak hasn't been fixed some equipment gets broken the management puts the sign it's been recorded with an engineer but the time when it gets fixed is lengthy. Shame really

Negative experience: Not very helpful when you need to put your membership hold because you are having a operation and you have already been able to training for the last six months but they are happy to take your money and not compromise when you have been a member for years

Negative experience: Its a robbing club I been trying to cancel my membership for over a yr they saying I only wrote in July i been down club phoned up and wrote emails ect and as for the club always something broke new staff all the time never ever join this club again

Negative experience: Been coming here for over a year feed up of it being dirty not having any wipes to clean the machines before I use them not good for hygiene and maintenance off the machines breaking down and broken lockers I am going to give up my membership has I am feed up with the place being filthy might catch something

Negative experience: I do not recommend. This place keeps asking me to join so I took the option of a 3 day pass to see if it was worth it. Day1, time for a swim, bit disappointing that it doesn't open until 6 AM as I usually go running for 5:15 but that's a personal thing. Seeing as I was among the first in I expected the place to have been very clean, it was not. The changing rooms were grubby. The pool was warm but several places on the floor of the pool were really gritty. Then I had a steam which was lovely. The showers are really mouldy in places! I honestly thought I might catch something, even the grout had mould. Then the floor was dirty & gritty. Day2, Run? So there I am again to see if the rest of the place was any cleaner, as I get in I ask if there are any more Cardio equipment in the place & they are all just in the reception! As you walk in there's a few rows of treadmills & a few cross trainers to the side, just there as you enter! Thought that was odd but oh well. About 20 mins into my run the machine flashes an alert on the screen & just stops!!!! Nearly ran into the ***** thing, hit my hand off it quite hard, called one of the staff over, not a clue! seemed intrigued that it had happened but not helpful in any way. I noticed 2 other machines we're out of order so I asked him how long they were out, got a bit uncomfortable as said not long so asked about others, do things break a lot & if so how long to get fixed. very evasive! Decided to shower at home. Will not be joining, asked to be removed & all my data deleted.

Negative experience: My husband decided to terminate his membership in the Everlast gym because it is dirty most of the time, the pool was closed for long time, the water temperature in the pool mostly was very cold. In order to terminate his 6-month membership in the gym he should pay for 3 months. He arrived to pay for 3 months and.... got the penalty of £100 for the parking... Enjoy the Everlast gym!

Negative experience: This gym can be the best thing in Northfield as it Is value for money and is suitably located however the lack of a non existent manager that you can voice your complaint to is extremely frustrating, when a complain manages somehow get to the manager it’s ignored or treated with disdain. I am a member that has stayed through the dust and grub of a refurbishment when most everyone was leaving and to now have a gym that’s a bit better than what was and have no proper customer care is quite daunting. The cleanliness of the gym seems to have gone downhill I don’t think changing a bin bag equates to clean when the dust seems to be accumulating without being checked by management. One would not expect to find a floor first thing in the morning not swept or cleaned from the day before I think someone really needs to take a proper look at management of this facility before another gym become available close that will in no doubt be a easy choice to leave.

Positive experience: Clean and tidy and all equipment well looked after.

Negative experience: Equipment is constantly out of order, pool constantly closed, and sections of the gym closed off for weeks at a time for no discernable reason. Save your money and time and go elsewhere.

Negative experience: Avoid like the plague. £65 charge for cancelling your ONE MONTH membership. They will chase you like they are some sort of debt collectors and the gym itself is cheap and run down. DO NOT JOIN

Negative experience: The gym overall is good enough for the price, many classes, staffs are nice. The only thing that make me don’t enjoy go in there is the personal trainer - Becky, she is always rude, obviously don’t enjoy what she is doing, forgot who are the customers/ the bosses, expecting all customers follow her agenda to please her. Shame on her!

Positive experience: It's a fairly good gym and much cleaner than the kings heath one; but they don't have some of the essential equipment so I find myself having to compromise and experiment by using some equipment in ways that they're not supposed to be used just to work additional muscles. Also, It's hard finding a time to go when it's not busy and because it's quite small, sometimes you find yourself waiting around for equipment or weights. The Sauna and steam room are great, always a decent temperature and never full.

Negative experience: Equipment dated faciltys limited @t £300 membership & no concessions for over 60s or light use needs to up its game esp with four gyms in square mile

Positive experience: Been this gym for 3 years, place is advanced with equipment. Staff always helpful and enough classes for everyones ability

Negative experience: The gym is a dive the changing rooms r filthy the steam room and showers stink im scared of catching something every time I go down won’t be renewing membership one it runs out stay well away people

Negative experience: This Gym ain't the place. They lack in equipment and are trying to charge me 69£ to cancel my membership for something that isn't my fault. Poor customer service when it comes to helping a customer to solve problems.

Negative experience: Not enough weight equipment, also there aren't enough attachments for the ones they have. No bands to do resistance training.

Fantastic experience: I feel anxious just walking down the road, at school everywhere, like I'm being stared at. But here I didn't feel anxious at all. Everyone was doing there own thing. Some random guy even helped me set up a machine because I had no idea how to use it.

Positive experience: Classes are brilliant love legs bums and tums and aqua all staff very friendly

Negative experience: They refurbished this gym within the last 12 months. Removed all the water fountains, reduced the amount of equipment and generally made it harder to train here. It's always full of people that don't look old enough to use the equipment or to be using a gym at all. Really difficult to get on equipment because there's just not enough of it.

Fantastic experience: Amazing value for money. Brand new gym equipment and new car park surface. Access to the sauna, steam, jacuzzi and pool on any membership which yes are occasionally down for maintenance, however staff are wonderful in keeping us all informed and chasing resolution dates. Some members are rude and moan about little things but for the money they are paying, its very silly. The contact and notice periods are clearly displayed on the screen upon joining with terms and conditions sent to you via email straight away. Advice to others - don’t sign up to things you haven’t read and understood. Amazing club highly recommended for the price. Ignore dodgy reviews.

Negative experience: Small workout area, equipment broken for long periods of time (heavy bag was out of order for months), staff rude, joining locks you into a contract you have to give three months notice of leaving, which by no accident I'm sure is left out of the explanation you get when they are signing you up. Worst gym in the area.
