Our Giffnock centre is ideal for those looking to work out in the south of Glasgow. Weâre just a short walk from Muirend train station, and positioned to serve Muirend, Mansewood, and Clarkston.

Negative experience: The steam room is now barely warm and has hardly any steam. It feels more like a slightly humid room than a proper steam experience. I understand that for a short period of time, the steam room was strangely warm and billowed out steam but this is by no means a solution. Definitely not what I expect from a gym with such high membership prices. Needs fixing!
Positive experience: Staff are lovely. The gym is in drastic need of modernisation with it's equipment and changing facilities, especially cardio machines which just feel old, clunky. Many of them don't register you're on them so try to do a warm down unless you press a button on screen to cancel this funtion. I had to do this approx 15 times in my 30 min run. The removal of the jacuzzis was a massive disappointment and is factoring in my decision to potentially move elsewhere. The changing rooms are starting to feel a little grotty. Would love to see some actual changes ASAP
Negative experience: I’m absolutely appalled by what I witnessed in the sauna – someone had left faeces inside. This is completely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about hygiene and cleanliness. Management needs to address this immediately to ensure it never happens again.
Negative experience: Faeces in the sauna, when staff were alerted they treated it with absolutely no urgency whatsoever. Absolutely disgusting. Grotesque to be charging £60+ per month and unable to keep their premises clean and up to date.
Fantastic experience: Great social activities due to classes avaliable
Fantastic experience: Great facilities and pool area is a nice addition to a good all round experience. Staff are always helpful and very friendly!
Fantastic experience: Excellent! The open areas including gyms, the swimming pool and changing facilities are well looked after and regularly cleaned. Staff are friendly, and professional experts.
Negative experience: Weight equipment is very dated and badly in need of upgrading. A number of machines are broken with no apparent attempt made to repair for weeks at a time. The pool access is very limited. I’m not sure about the other Nuffields in Glasgow but this club does nothing to justify its astronomical membership fee.
Negative experience: Been a member here for over 4 years and I’ve been very patient with a lot of the issues others have raised but today was the last straw. As someone else said. They’ve installed parking cameras to charge their own customers and rather than actually ask people for their car registration as they come into the gym they’re allowing people to pass through who may have not seen a sign. I’m sure we’ve all been there. We’re in a rush. We’re trying to get our session done. We miss the sign that says to leave your registration at reception. So I called up about this and no one has details on how to contact the parking services ; not even the manager who replied to me saying ; ‘There’s many levels of management’ but couldn’t answer me when I asked who manages the contact information for the people providing the charges. She also said I received an email about it. I’ve checked my email and can confirm I did not receive an email nor a paper copy of the changes. In 2 years Nuffield has ; 1) Reduced services such as the 2 jacuzzis 2) Failed to properly maintain hygiene areas such as showers. The gym maintenance is poor as stated in another review. 3) Increased the membership fee 4) Introduced car parking charges and failed to take responsibility when someone has a conflict regarding a £100 charge. 5) Retained staff who have no idea on things they should know about their own club and are amongst the most unprofessional and unhelpful and unempathetic people I have ever met in a service industry. That’s a £100 fee if you forgot to tell reception what your car registration is. How many hotels or gyms or other places with similar car parking systems work in this way? You know the answer. Believe the other reviews regarding this particular branches abhorrent and abrasive attitude towards its own clients. Won’t be paying their ridiculous monthly fee for much longer.
Fantastic experience: Very good gym and excellent coaches. Good selections of classes.
Negative experience: Phoned ahead to ask about using the pool as a day pass. Was told that was fine £15. Travelled all the way there to then be told I could only use it if accompanied by a member. Very disappointed why wouldn't you say on the phone ?!!!??
Negative experience: The gym is good if course but the waited ages at the cafe and too busy gossiping in back to notice when shouted in. Won't be rushing back. Appears to shut early
Negative experience: Paying premium for basic service, old equipment and jacuzzis that are never on
Negative experience: Staff were rude, strength training is extremely inadequate, more like hotel gym than gym to be taken seriously. Definitely not worth the money and Puregym >>>>>
Positive experience: Nice gym and pool but their hot tubs won't be on indefinitely
Fantastic experience: The staff at this gym are always so friendly. When my parents recently joined the team were interested in them rather than just trying to sell the most expensive membership. They wanted the customer to be happy. Great experience and lovely atmosphere.
Negative experience: Equipment hadn't changed in the 3 years I was a member there and little to no sign it will. The price point also changed 4 times despite "commitments" to gym users and empty promises on where your money goes. Not worth the price point. (Most) of the staff are lovely especially cleaning/pool, it's a shame corporate greed is frothing over here - support your local rather than the CEO's bonus.

Negative experience: Very disappointed with communication through covid looking on web now has opened still cannot speak to anyone just keep getting message sorry for the delay we will answer you shortly. I have had 2 emails of Nuffield since lock down the last one stating will keep me updated when it will reopen, I am still waiting on an update even though your website is saying opened. My querie is how do I go about a refund on the months I have paid as my membership was paid in full for the year very disappointed on the communication there as you have gave me no advice at all really disappointed.

Positive experience: Great gym - clean, well maintained and good equipment. One star deducted for awful blaring music in the gym - I couldn’t hear my music over it.
Fantastic experience: Been a member of the club for 13 years and the club is fantastic well managed with excellent approachable staff Michael B and Barry as an example, having tried other Nuffield Gym's Giffnock is the best in the business with excellent facilities, great parking and an excellent pool which is great for lane swimming. The MOT service is a USP for the club and a great way to track your health. The club has plenty of classes more than double the number that Parklands offers, making the gym excellent value for money with a variety of membership packages to please all.

Negative experience: Very poor levels of poolside hygiene are continuing with no obvious attempt to communicate clearly that showers must be taken before entering pool. The whole feel is of a club that's going downmarket...the pool of an evening is now distinctly smelly and is cloudy as people are jumping straight in from saunas and wallowing in it after sweating in the hot tubs. Having complained several times nothing is done about this. It may present a health concern in the near future if no tangible action is taken to stop it.

Positive experience: Staff and personal trainers are really good and helpful. Unfortunately, I find the gym floors (especially mats) and changing room floors really dirty. Even in the private areas, the same hair and dust bits are there for weeks. I have never seen anyone mop the changing room floors. There should be regular cleaning as people are coming all day, seven days a week. The BT Sports situation is just ridiculous. I always have to ask for the sports to be put on, sometimes someone will come and put it on and other times no one really bothers. You cannot get the sports on the CV machines. It would be good if someone could just check now and again that the sports is on. After all the gym is all about sports. Plus, it is a selling point for getting new members. The air conditioning system is a bit odd, too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. I have been let down by the booking system for swimming lessons in the past. Probably not a bad thing since some kids got left at the pool on their own. No one ever got back to me regarding the feedback card I filled in. The nutritionist, Mary, never got back to me when I wanted to sign up to her course. Unfortunately, Niall who was brilliant, had a lot of new ideas but has now left. I would have scored 2.5 out of 5, if I could but the trainers are really helpful so it brings the score up.

Positive experience: Good gym staff are always very friendly, however I tend to use the same machines most days I have found that they are not getting cleaned I notice the same dirt & hairs over the machines... Otherwise great gym hope they don't put the prices this year.

Negative experience: Nice staff. Shame that management organisation left 3 year old children at poolside for first swimming lessons without teacher . Total shambles and completely unprofessional!

Negative experience: The overall quality of the club isn't great, especially at the price point. The equipment is getting past its useful life and is regularly breaking down. When equipment does break down it regularly takes weeks before it is repaired. I reported an issue with one of the weights machines 2 weeks ago - no sign has been put up to indicate the machine isn't working and it has still not been repaired. I was also told there are no plans to replace them. On top of that, facilities are being removed to save Nuffield money while the monthly price is being raised. The premium price could be justified if a premium service was being offered but that is not the case.
