Negative experience: Worst experience of my life, had never been to a more unsophisticated health club. The staff was rude at reception I asked for a tour of the facilities and the receptionist told me “up stairs is the gym and and down stairs is changing room through there you can access the swimming pool and spa” They told me that the sales team was busy and couldn’t give me a tour. I used the gym it was in the middle of newish equipment and very old equipment. The outdoor pool was closed which was the thing I was most looking forward to using. So I went to use the spa, I do not know what type of spa this is but there was a room called the aromatherapy room which stank of sweat and there was also a massive sweat puddle since the drain was not working, I used the sauna which wasn’t that bad it was just a normal sauna the only part that was normal. I went to use the steam room and it also smelled of sweat and there drainage wasn’t working so I stepped in a sweat puddle which disgusted me, half of the tiles on the seats were missing so I got so many scratches on my feet and back. The worst part of the experience was the jacuzzi there is a spa that turns the bubbles on and I clicked it whilst there was someone else in there with me and he started complaining about the bubbles being on and then started arguing with me, he got up and got out of the jacuzzi whilst doing this dropped his towel in there so I decided to help him out by picking it up and he complained that I got it dirty like it was my fault he dropped it, rude staff, rude members, no manners, didn’t even give me a towel this is one of the worst experiences of my life and I do not recommend coming here ever.

Negative experience: Roko Wilford Nottingham is now Everlast! Check things thoroughly before you join! I have been a member for some time now and have seen the unsafe decline of this place. Concerning. Half the ladies showers are out of order constantly, razors are left on the shower floors, tiles are pretty disgusting in there. Floor tiles are old to the point when remotely wet, are very slippy! Not to mention the silver plating outside the shower area, you will know about when you slip on it! The pool area is a playground. Adults doing acrobatics in the childrens' pool, but no one says a thing to avoid the inevitable. Throwing balls around like two year olds when people are there to actually swim. Luckily I've not been hit yet. I get the impression, no one cares. Staff are disinterested and miserable looking. You challenge them , they shrug and don't care. When has glass bottles been safe inches from a pool edge, in the steam room and changing area? To the point I saw one smash all over the floor in front of me and staff really did not care when I told them. Outside pool condition is tatty and of concern with the loose brickwork last I saw end of summer. Water is often cold in the pool and showers. Steam room half the time is not working correctly and the gross sewage smell by the pool edge at times is awful. Making it worse, little notification, if any has been given or advised for membership transfer to Everlast . What a sham. You find you've been transferred to a new membership plan you actually have not signed up to, or been consulted on!? So check your details. My personal address is wrong and telephone number has also disappeared. Why would I not be contacted to discuss my transfer to Everlast and changing contract conditions? Is this actually legal to start me on a new contract without my written consent? It's very underhanded in my view and unprofessional. One I am seeking advice on. Not to guide your members and inform them of options available is appalling. Certain staff clearly show they do not care! A face says it all. Why work in the public domain if you clearly do not care about your customers and have a distinct attitude problem in public? I have no intention of staying. I certainly do not feel safe. There are better options around. About time health and safety took a hard look around the place. I hope the place changes quickly on many levels.

Negative experience: I've been visiting gyms for almost 40 years and this is the worst experience that I've ever had.. I went into the gym and signed up for membership as they wouldn't allow a trial. Just 30 mins later I left due to the horrible smell of dog sh*t in the changing room, the equipment was very old and unsafe and the gym was very dirty. They wanted to know why I was leaving so I told them. They promised that they would not progress with my membership and that they would rip up the paperwork. They kept my joining fee and they are now taking direct debits from me. I've tried many email addresses, web forms and phone numbers and they refuse to speak with me. So a 30 min visit could cost me over £700 and a lot of stress. To be continued..

Negative experience: The last 2 years have seen this club fall into disrepair. Showers are grubby and at least 6/11 aren't working. 3 more have no soap dispenser. Emails pointing out maintenence or customer experience issues go unanswered. New owners have a lot to do to turn this place around. Already communications from them are not inspiring confidence. And staff seem to have very little information.

Fantastic experience: Trained here a couple of times with friends using a pass. The gym itself is excellent, very clean, staff are super friendly and welcoming and it has lots of great equipment. And the lattes are really pleasant, I always enjoy grabbing one after a good workout :)

Negative experience: Spa and pool area is rarely cleaned with black gunk and dirty water around. Mens changing rooms are in a bad condition with dirt under the chairs on the floor. The worst is the mens showers, with black mould everywhere on the ceilings. When raised this issue they always claim they are selling the gym and will not be fixing this despite I have a lung condition. In terms of gym they only have 1 set of weights so often I often have to wait between sets, no worth the premium money

Negative experience: Very ran down and definitely don’t worth £75 a month. Staff aren’t very useful and owner don’t seem to be investing any time or money on this club. Of course when you sign up you’ll have minimum 3 months contract. Save your time lots of time and money and look for a better gym.

Fantastic experience: Roko is fantastic, since signing myself and my family up in July, we've all been regularly enjoying the facilities. Our boys are 12 and they're able to swim and use the gym independently which they love. The staff are wonderful, the club is clean and spacious. Even on busier days it doesn't feel overcrowded because there is so much space and so much to do. We love the pools and the healthsuite which again, are clean and spacious. I enjoy taking part in various classes each week including Spin, Hiit, Pump and Body attack, the instructors are all fantastic and friendly. I'd highly recommend the club to anyone.

Negative experience: A sorry excuse for a health club. The place is dilapidated and in a sorry state of disrepair. Evidence of rodent droppings in locker in the changing room. You are only important up until you sign up for membership, and watch out for the draconic 3 month's notice period they tie you in for. There is almost always something out of order, a couple of treadmills, a toilet cubicle or two. Everything is shabby, you'll only really start to notice it once you've been going for a while The men's changing area and toilets often stink of urine, they're so bad sometimes my son retches at the smell. The gym floor is a mess, it's a game of hunt the weight plate a lot of the time as no one cares about tidying up, the staff are completely passive and so there's very little discipline with putting things back. The sauna is currently a rotting mess, with hazard tape covering all the broken benches. This month saw random closures which I suspect are to do with the dire financial position the business is in. I would recommend not joining as I wouldn't be surprised to see the business put into administration at any moment, swallowing up your membership fee in the process. Stay away.

Negative experience: Not for families….. complete waste of money. Children splash pool completely closed off on a Saturday morning. I was told to use the main pool with 2 non swimming children. Clearly safeguarding children and their safety rates low for this company. This is no the package I was sold!

Negative experience: No facility to change or shower after the swim in case you have a child of different gender older than 7. Staff can be really rude and pick on you especially if you're not white.

Negative experience: Worst customer service I’ve ever received off Angela Goodger. Had a 3 month membership commencing from February - April. At end of March I asked to cancel the month of April due to relocation - they gave me a contract to sign to do so. The next day I get an email saying I’ve got to pay membership till June (bare in mind I only had a 3 month membership that didn’t extend) to cancel the 3 months? The next day I went in and was told by a member of staff on reception that as long as I pay the month of April the contract would be finished and that was it . I did so (even though I didn’t use the gym once in April) and ever since they have been trying to charge me for the month of May and now an extra 20 pound for something else I’ve been trying to contact this Angela as the staff on the reception might not aswell be there because when u ask them something they just pass you on to this Angela who’s never there and ultimately uncontactable. Now I finally got in contact with Angela she has clearly had no customer service training and she is now saying she won’t resolve this because she can’t ’verify my experience’ Very rude and had no intention of resolving the issue that roko’s incompetent staff has caused. What a joke absolute embarrassment of customer service never mind it’s 50 pound a month - won’t be coming here again and wouldn’t recommend the rude and money thieving staff .

Positive experience: Outdoor pool which should reopen on the 1st April has for the second year in a row not reopened on time. No rhyme or reason (or communication) as to why. It has been closed since the end of October so more than enough time for any renovations during the last 5 months. Pretty poor Roko.

Fantastic experience: We have used Roko for swimming lessons for both our children over the past few years. It's a great place to learn, the pool is always warm and changing rooms very good. Dougie and Bliss are fantastic with the children and Jenni as the swimming manager is brilliant to deal with.

Fantastic experience: I've been using roko for over 2 years and absolutely love it. As a coach at Nottingham rugby, we regularly run sessions for our players to supplement the training they do on the pitch. The guys at roko are really supportive and the facilities allow us to help our players develop their strength, fitness and recovery!

Fantastic experience: Was a bit apprehensive about having a gym induction (now having reached a certain age!) but Harry totally put me at ease. He explained how to use the equipment clearly and was very encouraging. Harry listened to what I wanted to achieve and devised a bespoke fitness plan. I can't thank him enough - he has reignited my desire to get fit! Harry is a great assett to the club.

Fantastic experience: GYM INDUCTION Had a very good positive experience with the ROKO 7 day trial pass before Christmas. Staff were friendly and helpful so decided to join! Special mention goes to Harry, the gym manager, who put me at ease (having never been to a gym before) as he talked me through an hour long gym induction. He was very knowledgeable about all the equipment and devised a personal fitness plan, tailored to the goals I wish to achieve. The session was both productive and enjoyable. Thank you Harry and the ROKO team.

Fantastic experience: Really pleasant and active experience. The gym is well equipped and the staff are very friendly. My free PT session with Harry was very encouraging as it was tailored to my fitness objectives. He certainly made the session both productive and enjoyable. It felt as though I was training with a gym buddy. I can say I left feeling delighted and fully energised.

Positive experience: I'm a founder member here,so been coming here now for the last twenty+ years . Really nice place to visit . Bring a friend for £12 I think now + you can use the spa area aswell . With any gym tho ,you only get out what you put in . Staff friendly enough,but here's my gripe coming. They don't seem to go upto people as much as they did when it first opened,not really much interaction unless you've paid for a personal training session. Plus when people are on some of the machines, cardio or weight if their not quite got the right technique, then no one goes up to them to tell them so they could be doing the exercise and not really benefitting from it as their not doing it properly. There that's my gripe over . Other than that most of the members and staff are friendly. With as many classes as you like

Negative experience: I'm very disappointed with this place! The staff are generally pleasant but Roko's terms and conditions are absolutely terrible and border on the level of Timeshare contracts. Three months notice even after being a member for more than a year! I told them that I had a medical condition which stops me from putting any strain on my body. I showed them the letter from the consultant and they would not budge. Absolutely vile terms and conditions. I will go to the Citizens Advice Bureau regarding this, they have certainly lost a customer in me and I WILL spread the word. All the terrible reviews about this place should give you an idea of what you're dealing with...BEWARE!

Negative experience: Awful place. The gym is dirty and tatty. The changing rooms are no better and smell. I was told I could cancel given three months notice if I moved out of the area with proof. I moved back home and went into the gym with proof of redundancy and new address. I was told it wasn’t necessary by the reception staff when I offered it. However, they continued to take the money “because I failed to provide proof” and threatened legal action should I fail to pay. Reading other reviews, it seems this obsfucation and bullying is standard practice. Avoid these people like the plague.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been searching for a new gym for some time now and having tried a few, I loved my induction with Harry at Roko, West Bridgford. It’s the best I have had. I had an hour and it wasn’t rushed. Harry clearly has good knowledge and was very thorough in showing me how to use the equipment. He listened and made recommendations to help me get the best out of my workout. Harry clearly is passionate about what he does, which make him a great ambassador for Roko. Harry and all the staff are very friendly and helpful unlike some other gyms I have tried. I know I’m going to feel comfortable here and look forward to my settling into my training sessions here. Negative experience: Was thinking about joining Roko because their spa area and pools - which seem OK. My one requirement for any gym/swimming pool is that the changing areas don't smell like urine. Tragically, the mens changing area and shower area smelled like urine. There were kids in, so this is likely the case. Didn't see any staff cleaning. Sorry, it's a no for me.

Positive experience: Started gym at the start of January. Clean and tidy gym. Only thing i'd have to say so far and not entirely the gyms fault but they could look out for it a bit more and either ask people to put them back or put them back themselves, is that people don't put their weights away. For me who's small and not that strong, this is a problem and hinders my workout and my confidence. Apart from that so far it's good!

Negative experience: The club does have classes, but is so overpriced for what you get. Not enough machines, classes are overbooked and parking fines for their carpark. They also upped my cost to almost £60 a month, even though it's my last month their as I was already struggling with the price. Will not go back! And advise others not to

Negative experience: The most awful gym I’ve been to. I rejoined my membership after having been with the club already for a year. Two months in my circumstances changed, I tried to get out of the membership & provided not only proof of financial difficulties but also a doctors note for stress, this situation certainly has not helped. The club have been so unhelpful and insensitive in ending my membership & have now passed this on to a debt collector. Aside from this, the clubs facilities are always broken & the drainage systems are terrible, making it not worth the money at all. My mother & Aunty have been members for nearly 10 years now but this bears no interest to roko who are only concerned about keeping their poorly kept facilities open for as long as possible.Think twice before joining!

Positive experience: Such a good gym and health spa but very inconsistent with the cafe opening times. Not good at all. Turned up at 4.50pm and it’s closed. What is going off? Used to have a board that stated the times that it is open and even that has disappeared.

Negative experience: Don’t waste your time or money! I initially came in for a weeks guest pass, in that time I accessed the pool and some gym classes. I really enjoyed the classes and decided to join after being told the communication from reception/ sales team would improve shortly as they’ve had staff turn around. Once joined, the communication didn’t get any better. The app wasn’t working and I couldn’t get onto classes that my friends could, I tried over 15 times across the day to call through to reception and I couldn’t get through at all. I was then emailed stating I have guest passes to use, I informed them of a friend who wanted to use, they contacted them and set it up. My friend got her dates mixed up and tried contacting them to make it the following week but nobody answered the line. Myself and my friend tried calling several times across a week, emailed 2 people in sales and still no response. The same person later emailed again telling me I had guest passes to which I informed him that he hadn’t even responded to my last email. I signed up for a 3 month membership and put a cancellation in straight away as I was waiting for another gym to open closer to home. That gym has been delayed so was looking to extend out of convenience, membership contacted me before I had chance to talk to them. They said they had some deals I may be interested in and surprise surprise I got no response. Almost like it was a tick box exercise for them. The communication is SOOO poor, considering I pay £65pm, I’ve had better service from Pure Gym at a quarter of the price. I’ve made my thoughts aware, I filled in a survey from the general manager 2 months ago and didn’t hear anything back. I enjoy the classes but the spin bikes are falling apart. Every time I go another one breaks. They’ve broken on me mid class. The building is run down and tired looking. I’m not even sure the studios have aircon- if they do it wasn’t used in summer. The only good thing about this gym is the class instructors. The ones I have met have been great! Nobody else is friendly, reception are always talking to other staff members, its rare if you get a hello. It’s not the experience you’d expect from a health club, you’re better off at your local leisure centre.

Negative experience: I was utterly gob smacked when I got a parking ticket for parking in thier own carpark while attending a baby class Roko gym. I went in to tell reception and was told it's nothing to do with them and I shouldn't have parked in the van area and should have read the signs (I've never come across a van area before and was totally unaware ) see my attached pics, the white signs where I entered the carpark are really clear aren't they?! I've made a complaint and won't be paying or using Roko again!

Positive experience: A friendly, midsized exercise venue with two indoor and one outdoor pool, swimming lessons and studio classes, indoor spa bath, sauna and steam rooms. Gym could be cleaner, spa area overhaul needed (was promised in 2018), studio floors need replacing, but otherwise an adequate venue. Currently owned by Everlast Gyms (Frasers group of companies); fingers crossed they bring a fresh refurb and inspiring team.

Fantastic experience: Booked in with Harry for him to show me a couple of extra bits in the gym that I wanted to know how to use. Ended up spending nearly an hour with him as he was so friendly and helpful. Showed me loads of additional things to support my gym routine and I now feel way more comfortable with using different sections in the gym. Can’t recommend Harry enough. So much so I’ve booked in with him again to get a tailored gym routine sorted.

Negative experience: If I could give this company minus stars I would. I was a member for 12 months, Roko decided to automatically renew my membership without my consent. I called to cancel my membership nobody answered, left numerous answer machine messages to call me back. Obviously nobody ever did. I sent an email to cancel my membership which I never had a response too. I am being contacted by a company trying to get me to pay over £700 for unpaid membership fees. I haven’t been to the gym in nearly two years. This company is awful, use intimidating methods to try and con money out of you. Avoid at all costs.

Negative experience: Large gym with loads of modern equipment and decent pools. Great space. Expensive and limited membership options if you don't want a contract, but price reflects equipment and quality of the gym itself. Staff more than accomodating with me. Joe was brilliant and I was allowed a free day trial before I bought a 2 week membership. Desk staff were always friendly. Unfortunately staff were less than accomodating when I brought my partner for a free trial before we commited to a couple's membership. We were told over the phone he could come use the gym for a day for free like I did. When we arrived at the gym we were told by the same staff member who we spoke to on the phone that he had to pay £15 for a day pass because my membership wasn't a "real membership". Even though I had been allowed to have a free day pass the same month without knowing anyone with a membership. Unfortunately this meant roko has lost us both as customers :(

Fantastic experience: Joined Roko last year, mainly because of the pool. Water is always nice and warm. Outdoor swimming pool is open in the summer which is superb! There are big variety of classes for adults and kids every day. Staff are very helpful and friendly (Joe, thank you ). Will definitely recommend to anyone who wants to keep fit and have a good time.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Roko now for a month and stilll very impressed with all aspects of the gym! It was very well presented to me by the Sales Manager Bobby who gave me a great intro to the facilities and even phoned me to see how I’ve been getting on. I go first thing in the morning before work which fits me perfectly, no better way than start your day with a gym session and a quick trip in the spa facilities! Thanks again Roko and the team!

Fantastic experience: I have been a member at Roko for 5 months now and having not been a member of a gym before, I had no confidence and had no idea where to start. The first day I started, Rachel (one of the personal trainers) showed me how to use all the equipment and she made me multiple workout routines specifically for me which I follow. There are always trainers on hand to help, so if you're ever stuck on how to use any of the equipment someone will always help you. All the staff are so lovely and are nice and chatty - especially Rachel and Mia! The facilities are always clean and well maintained. There has recently been a lot of new gym equipment installed which is a lot more advanced and more interactive. I would highly recommend this gym to anyone.

Fantastic experience: My experience and Roko Nottingham is unmatched to any gym I have ever been to. The facilities are always clean which is especially reassuring during the current climate of the pandemic. The new Gym refurbishment has exponentially improved my already amazing opinion on Roko. The classes and the instructors are top notch, providing challenging but effective workouts. I think what makes my time in Roko most agreeable is the staff. Mia on reception is so friendly I feel like I've known her for years. Could not recommend this place enough.

Fantastic experience: I've personally been going to the gym for over a year now and the new refurbishment is amazing even looks the part, plenty of equipment always tidy. All staff are friendly and always happy to help. Plenty of PT's to choose from if that what you would like. Or jump in and use a rokofit or gym fit that's part of your membership which are amazing and really helpful no matter what doesn't matter if your a beginner or been going to the gym for a while I had my first roko fit in November with the lovely rach she was helpful understanding and full of energy which definitely helps you get through you session. I would definitely recommend her personally myself.

Positive experience: Rejoined Roko after lockdown. The staff are friendly especially Mia on reception. The club was really accommodating when I had surgery and suspended my membership. Will has been amazing helping me with my physio and offering advice on expanding my programme. The only down side is the women’s changing rooms……

Negative experience: The service from this gym is terrible and I would not recommend to anyone. After signing up last week, I had to ask for a walk around which was very brief and rushed. After 30 minutes in the gym, I realized it was not for me - the gym is dirty and no members are cleaning the equipment after use. Coupled with this the changing rooms smell and untidy. Two days later I called the gym and asked to cancel, I spoke to a sales consultant who agreed this would be OK and to email in writing. In my mind, this was the end of it. However the next day I received an email stating that no grace period was offered in the contract and a copy of their terms. Given I had used the gym once and cancelled after two days, common sense I would have thought would prevail. They are now dodging my calls and have been in meetings every hour apparently for the last two days. Avoid this gym at all costs, the value for money and service is not worth your time.

Negative experience: There's a reason they don't show their reviews on Facebook... First of all the gym is very average in terms of layout etc. and the ladies changing rooms smell awfully of urine which is enough to put anyone off training before even getting up to the gym floor. Secondly the staff are miserable, the people on the front desk look like they've never smiled in their life except for one lady who often says hello. The rest of them don't welcome people unless they are pally with them and just sit looking bored, a lovely environment to walk into before training! Lastly, I tore my ACL and my meniscus in my right knee so my tendons are all damaged meaning I cannot effectively train (not very well anyway!) and sent Roko admin team over the consultants letter and was offered suspension. I said no as I didn't want to suspend my membership, I wanted to leave. I asked if they can action this for me with the letter I sent them and got a reply stating you need to pay this much to cancel before your membership is up. No answer as to whether my letter was satisfactory or even telling me if I needed something else to prove it. I think they do this to prolong the process and put people off going down this route. It's an awful thing to do and from a customer service point of view it is below parr. If you are in the West Bridgford or Wilford area looking for a gym i'd honestly recommend spending that bit more money to go to David Lloyd. All in all overpriced and awful service. I would not recommend Roko to anyone.

Positive experience: I took my time about joining a gym in Notts, but I think I made the right decision. The gym is clean. The sauna, steam and spa are clean. The pools are clean and smell like treated pools are meant to. I had my first gym session with Harry and I must say, he is polite, returns my crazy chatter and knows his ish. After the amount of study he's done, I'm not surprised! Brill, thanks Harry for studying hard and designing a program in literally 60mins for me that I will force myself to stick to. Let's see the results in a few months eh?( I have a feeling he might beat me up if I don't stick to it )
