Positive experience: Would be nice if the massage guns work, clean good gym lots of stuff

Positive experience: Large gym with great equipment but can get busy at times.

Negative experience: It isn't really 24/7 gym, the changing room and sauna isn't open all the time to make it into 24/7. Also I am still waiting on the staff to call me back after almost 2 months (I had to resolve with head office at the end)

Negative experience: Great gym all around, good equipment and good value but the hygiene is terrible. Gym floor is often dirty and the men’s changing room is always bad. Showers have hair everywhere and never seem to be clean.

Fantastic experience: Will I get parking ticket if I park a truck across 3parkingbays?

Fantastic experience: Gym staff were incredibly welcoming, equipment and changing rooms extremely clean. The only real issue is that I can’t stop going back

Negative experience: Started really well when it opened but getting more and more lapse. Rubber matting lifting in various places making trip hazards. Not good when carrying weights! Haven't seen blue roll or spray cleaner to wipe equipment (especially spin bikes), for 6-8 months. Halfords is next door, so if care was really given they could get it from there whilst waiting for a delivery. Staff are friendly and range of kit is good though. Fair 2 given cleanliness is out the window.

Negative experience: If you enjoy spending most of your time re-racking other people’s weights on every piece of equipment you want to use then this is the place for you. That is if you can get through the hoards of students just sitting around on their phones…

Fantastic experience: Only thing that really matters is the gym has everything you need to get results from a workout and motivational atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: I can't say enough good things about JD From the moment you walk in, you're in welcoming environment that motivates you to push yourself. The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to help. The equipment is top-notch and could do with being maintained, but has a wide variety to cater to all fitness levels and goals. Whether you're into weightlifting, cardio, or functional training, they've got everything you need. Highly recommend this gym to anyone looking to improve their fitness and overall health! I go every morning at 6 am I was told it's a deferent experience in the afternoon. But I didn't experience that.

Fantastic experience: Really enjoy this gym, super well equipped and all the equipment feels fresh, almost never too busy and overall friendly environment. Only thing I would say is another pec deck machine would go a long way I think as you're frequently waiting to use it.

Negative experience: Good day, I would like to leave feedback regarding cleanliness and some suggestions. The shower that opens after 10:00 p.m. has had a broken drain for a month. In my opinion, the cleaning staff are not doing their job adequately. I don’t think it is too difficult to properly sanitise areas with high humidity! The same shower often has an unpleasant smell of urine and shaved genital hair. It would be more convenient if there were lockers for belongings and a mop to clean up water, so I could leave the room clean for the next visitor after using the shower. I would also appreciate it if the main men’s changing room shower could remain clean throughout the day. Additionally, the sauna is not warm enough; it would be great to have an automatic water dispensing system to help raise the temperature. It would be great if a thorough cleaning of the entire hall could be done at least once a week, as dust clumps and hair look very unhygienic.

Negative experience: It was great at first but always too busy and not enough equipment to go around. Saldy they also let people set up recording equipmen.

Negative experience: What a disappointment I couldn't even get someone to show me around one time entry in the door and over busy.

Negative experience: Joined this gym within the first months of it opening and it was truly great with the range of equipments available and classes. Noticed this year it’s really busy pretty much all day all seasons which isn’t an issue, the issue has been with the lack of hygiene and cleanliness hasn’t increased along with it but rather decreased! Toilets are constantly dirty I’ll only used them if I absolutely had to, and to top it off they stopped supplying cleaning equipment because according to the manager they can’t justify it anymore according to a PT I spoke to. My guess is, they don’t want to hire extra help to clean out the overflowing bins that were most of the time filled with the tissues members used to wipe down equipment. Truly ridiculous and disgusting! I have since paused my membership and found alternative ways to workout, but considering I’ve direction the gym’s going I’m wondering whether to cancel. Definitely needs to be addressed.

Negative experience: Nice gym, but the air conditioning is awful and feels really stuffy and can get smelly because of it. Also, there was no wifi for about 5 weeks. Finally don't bother having a shower as they only stay on for 20 seconds a time! Barring that the equipment is good.

Negative experience: The gym is stupidly hot without AC and they don’t even have spray or paper towels to clean down equipment.

Positive experience: Very good gym

Negative experience: JD Gyms have now removed the paper towels and sanitiser sprays from the gym. They have neglected hygiene due to penny pinching. This is absolutely shocking. Many members are thinking of leaving.

Positive experience: Better air con and music which is quieter would be nice

Positive experience: Please fix your WiFi ASAP At peak congestion times in that retail park, your customers can’t get mobile signal to leave the gym! Or provide another way for people to exit that doesn’t require internet on a smart phone.

Positive experience: Convenient with lots of parking. Music is a bit naff though. Difficult to keep your rhythm to gangsta rap!

Negative experience: I am usually free to go gym late evening only, worst thing is I can not take shower nor use toilet most of the time because the actual big toilet & shower closes at 10 pm on weekdays and 8 pm on weekend. For night, spare shower/toilet area is there but always occupied so it’s really inconvenient for everyone who can only go to the gym in late evening/night. JD Gym must look into this issue carefully and hopefully sort it out soon.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to various gyms since 2008 in Farnborough, Gloucester and Greater Manchester. Been a member at JD since early May 2024. Overall, I feel this is the best gym I have worked out at. The staff are all friendly, the cleanliness is excellent. I have only attended 2 classes so far (yoga) and the trainer was outstanding. Clearly extremely experienced. Will try out more classes, looking forward to step. Machines are all good.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant facilities, a lot of unique equipment, great staff, free parking and all this at a very competitive price. What else can you ask for

Positive experience: Generally very good. I normally go at quieter periods and never have a problem using what I need to. Good value for money.

Negative experience: I joined then left shortly after because the staff were too busy chatting to manage the gym. Kit & empty drinks bottles just lying everywhere to trip over, they're not in the slightest bit interested in improving member experience & several times the disabled toilets have not been available due to them being locked when I've gone in to train at 0300, terrible service & this is a shame because it is a great gym with a wide variety of kit. A year past so I decided to give it another go, sad to say if anything it's worse!!

Positive experience: Please ban people filming. You cant walk or train without walking past or being in someone’s YT video. At least ban tripods in the Gym. Also a few issues with timetable changes weekly. Tough to plan your classes when so many changes. On the plus side the Gym is huge, loads of equipment, gets busy but time it right and it can be quiet. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Positive experience: Very good gym and I go here when I’m home from uni, however would love if they could invest in some power bars for powerlifters. Love getting workouts in otherwise

Fantastic experience: Really good gym, vast amount of different equipments with variations , upstairs you have more equipment and cardio floor with an open space for stretching etc.

Positive experience: Don't go at peak times unless your want to pick your way around people on their phones but well stocked clean and modern

Positive experience: It's a new gym in the busy Blackwater shopping centre. The gym is spread over two floors, mainly cardio and studio upstairs, free weighs and weight machine on the lower level. Lots of sweaty bodies. Music mostly too loud and too many people sitting on equipment looking at their phones. Pilates instructor very good and engaging.

Negative experience: Gym much better than others but it isnt 24/7 if access to showers is only till 10pm and 8pm on weekends… Showers literally stay on for 4 seconds (i counted) and temperature is mildly warm at best. Wouldnt say its worth the money but i guess its better than puregym.

Positive experience: Great price could do with some more bodybuilding equipment and heavier dumbbell and better and I forgot my watch was put in safe and it went unfortunately missing but probably best value gym other then few idiots walking topless barely doing any weight

Positive experience: Pros: Great looking gym with a good range of kit. Loads of parking and the staff are friendly. I go off-peak so never really have an issue getting on whatever kit I need and it’s generally the same crowd. One of the male cleaners takes a really long time cleaning the showers, giving me Saltburn vibes Usual gym issues with people not putting kit away, especially overnight. Someone also seems to be regularly clearing their nose or throat on the floor of the men’s sauna… footwear advisable!

Positive experience: Its busy because its new and also because a lot of youngsters go there, im guessing from the 6th form college, so sometimes it can be hard to get on the machines you want. Staff are friendly and the older blokes and girls in there are friendly enough. Does feel a bit clicky for me when i first went, and it was me that made the effort to chat to people or help out. Not sure why that would be. In general its a good gym for a reasonable price.

Negative experience: The gym classes are constantly cancelled or swapped for different ones. The teachers often don’t turn up and they make no effort to find replacements. There is no notifications when they cancel: it would be understandable if it was a one off but it’s all the time! Especially with body pump!!

Negative experience: Classes constantly getting cancelled with no cover and no notice, you only find out when you turn up. You can't pre-book classes either which might make it easier for cancellation notifications. This needs to be changed! Class timetable needs to be infinitely better, particularly as the gym itself is exceptionally busy all the time. Such a shame.

Positive experience: Bright, clean, plenty of equipment. Changing room small, but clean with hairdryers. Down side shower was not warm enough and had to lean on it to keep water flowing.

Positive experience: I like the gym, i don't like the amount of kids in there, seams more like a school gym. Im guessing they come from the 6th form ? I am considering changing because of waiting to use machines, while kids are using them all talking to each other taking for ever. Plus they really need to learn to put there weights back when finished. Also ive seen them going through the barriers 2or 3 at a time on one pass. For those of us paying that is annoying! Of course it's good to see youngsters in to fitness, but not wgen it is at a detriment to other gym users.

Positive experience: The best gym I've experienced. However, the sauna always feel slightly unhygienic though, never seen them be cleaned despite daily usage.

Fantastic experience: Excellent gym very new lots of weights on the ground floor and running and cardio equipment upstairs and some weight machines there, they have changing rooms and a studio for classes although I haven’t tried any of those yet. The place is great and it’s nice and clean , open 24 hours a day and a good price.

Positive experience: stunning with loads of machines and equipment BUT the only negative thing is that they close the shower rooms after 10 pm, I know it's for security but you can easily hire someone to stay over the night! the disabled shower and bathroom, which are open after 10 pm become stink and filthy after midnight

Negative experience: The gyp is great but I'm sorry to say that the changing room, showers are dirty. The toilets are extremely dirty. Please please look into it because I'm thinking to go to another gym because of this issue. Apart from that the staff are very friendly. Thank you

Negative experience: They charge what they like so don't believe any offers or check what they charge you. It's hard to cancel too! Gym is crazy busy (worse than pure and the gym). Some areas are well equipped, 6 chest press stations, 3 of which decline, always one free. Other areas not enough and long waits or constant queues (the 1 pec fly machine is impossible to get on)

Positive experience: Was very good when it opened lots of staff on show and always cleaning, now doesn't seem to be as many staff about and the place is becoming a mess. Not so much JDs fault but Gym etiquette here is so bad so the place is a mess, Some machines are unusable as someone has taken the weigh pin elsewhere or taken the carabiner off. Weight plates are everywhere and no where so you spend 10 minutes looking for what you need. The gym just seems to be struggling now from lack of staff and cleaning. However the gym is well equipped so can be great it is just a mess at the moment

Negative experience: Nice clean gym with friendly staff. Unfortunately most of my workout is spent hunting around for the weights I need and tidying them back into place, as they are always mixed up all over the place. Loads of free weights area but not enough weight plates available.

Positive experience: Very good not too busy,shame people don't tidy up after themselves also the shower and changing room should be open 24/7,not happy with the current times

Fantastic experience: Great gym lots of equipment and good facilities. Cleanings is good. Gets really busy during peak times however its normal in all gyms, lots of equipment benches there available so you can look to move over fairly quickly to your next exercise.

Negative experience: Excellent in terms of weight selection and cardio selection. Gym is horribly hot all the time, massage guns are always out action. Changing rooms aren’t open 24/7 which is bit of a pain if you want to come late at night, the only lockers are downstairs which are always full even when people don’t use locks. Lack of decent air con has made me change my mind on this gym.

Negative experience: The gym itself is okay but the biggest problem is parking. The car park closes around 9pm. If you're lucky there's parking at McDonald's. Honestly, avoid this gym until they change the car park's timetable

Negative experience: such bad customer service first of all I went once and it was shockingly bad and also I asked to cancel over 2 weeks ago and they still haven’t got back to me they’re just trying to rob people of their money stay away

Positive experience: Pro: -Huge gym, tons of equipments. -Friendly staff Con: -Tiny things, like: wifi is terrible -Can get packed and there is no control of the amount of people let in -AC is non-existing when it’s full -And the reason why I left after a month: It’s been advertised everywhere with equipments, such as punch-bags. Yet they “ran out of space”. So I went back to my old gym. Shame tho

Fantastic experience: 2024-07-26 update after about 1 year So the overall gym cleanliness is around 7.5-8/10. The massage guns have been there most of the time and quite often there are Omron weight scales. The parking is alright, sometimes is better when the barriers are up and you can drive right up to the Gym's entrance. Sometimes the barriers don't work at all and you have to park at McDonald's where the parking is very limited (10 spaces or so). The JD gym app sometimes miss-fires and I've seen a enough people having issues with it and with network connectivity. The phone would show 4g or 5g, but the moment you open the app the network...disconnects? Anyway. I'm overall pleased with the gym. I don't use it for anything more than weight training. They seem to be looking out for their members and the feedback from them. Updates from my previous review: - Weight racks have been placed upstairs. - Some worn out machines have had their seats and rests repaired (where the material cracked). - Massage guns are back in (though they come and go frequently). The gym was mostly clean on all my visits (5-6AM) with the occasional wrapper or tissue on the floor next to the benches. However, you can clearly see where the vacuum cleaner could not reach as there is an outline of dust, hair and whatnot around each bench and/or machine. Sometimes the AC vents are pointed right at you when using some machines (such as the chest fly machine upstairs) and it gets chilly quite fast especially if you're already sweaty by then.

Negative experience: Pretty good but also a pretty terrible . Needs no major improvement, but needs to be cleaned

Negative experience: My Grandson cut his face and arm on the Signing in equipment outside the gym. I went inside to fill in the accident form and the member of staff reviewed the footage on cctv. She assured me that a cover would be placed over the device. Also head office would be in contact with me. No phone call a month later and on returning today no cover has been placed over the device. I now have no choice but to contact health and safety so that other young children don’t go through what my grandson did.

Fantastic experience: Hi.....great gym.....but would it be possible to have more 2.5kg and 1.25kg plates in the weights area?

Fantastic experience: great sized gym offering fantastic kit and options, can be a little busy but that is to be expected with this gym, would recommend to anyone looking for a new gym in this area

Fantastic experience: In terms of volume and variety of equipment, it's unmatched at the (budget) price point. You simply don't get lifting platforms, gym rigs, Eleiko plates, A Wattbike and a Concept2 bike in most budget gyms. Being a newly opened gym, changing rooms, toilets and equipment are in immaculate condition. Crowded at peak times as expected, but the sheer variety and quantity of equipment should mean you're able to do what you need to. Can't comment about the sauna, studio or PTs as I haven't used them.

Negative experience: Why do the changing rooms close at 8pm?! My bag is stuck in the locker with my car keys so having to walk home at 9pm and come back to collect my bag and bloody car. No help available, or qr code entry or pin entry available, fuming!

Positive experience: Great gym so far, has what I need personally. I would rate higher, but couple of little things which hope helps improve over time. The A/C near the cardio feels a little weak and I find myself getting very hot quick. A few more clocks around, with seconds counter would be really helpful between rest periods without the distractions of a phone. And some more cleaning stations dotted around. There are some and the irony of having to walk far is silly I know, but being able to quickly clean i feel would benefit everyone. Small things for me personally but wouldn’t stop me visiting. Hope it helps.

Positive experience: The bad: - very low quality cardio equipment. The cross trainer has a really low ROM compared to other ones I've used and creeks like crazy. - no cold water facilities or mats. - cleaning stations are like an after though - no booking classes - convinced my wife to sign up who only does classes. If you plan your day around classes and it's full, completely wasted your time. They book classes back to back so you cannot even wait in the room. It builds up with people waiting outside to get in. It's a mad rush for classes. Why have the yoga after a cardio session, room stinks for yogies. - small matted area but it's probably the most efficient use of space. - higher proportion of teenagers than other gyms who generally stink. - equipment already has a nasty smell to it. Packs like crazy in the afternoons. The good: - huge selection of equipment from power racks, plate loaded machines etc. - should always be able to get a goodout work in - modern, clean since most equipment is new. - Great value at 25 to 30 pm. - free parking What really needs to change: - booking classes! Or at least don't have classes back to back. Give them a 5 min gap.

Positive experience: Had a really good experience at the gym so far - lots of equipment and space. I go in the morning before work and it's pretty quiet but can imagine it's heaving by 6pm. I would say it can be warm unless you're standing directly under the air con, and would like there to be day passes available or a bolt on to my membership so my boyfriend can come when he visits! Overall good!

Positive experience: Great new gym. The only negative is the sauna is tragically tiny. December 2024 update. Oh dear. Like many startups it was a great start but 17 months in standards have slipped. No more wipes and cleaning spray on the floor. General lack of cleanliness. Broken soap tray and damaged sealant in showers and ever full waste bins . Lots of chat about this on the floor . So a plea to the management for some fixes. It's a great gym that needs sprucing up.

Positive experience: I joined ONLY for Sauna but bit disappointed to know it's only till 7.30 pm on wk ends and not 24x7 as advertised! On Wk days also it's not 24x7 apparently. A suggestion to offer shower gel if it doesn't cost much. Rest all is Ok for the price. Would have made my experience 5 Star if they had Sauna accessible till 10 pm every day.

Fantastic experience: As a wheelchair user, finding a gym where I can use at least half the equipment has been a godsend! The staff are so helpful, the classes are adapted to your needs and abilities and even head office are happy to listen to suggestions for equipment etc! Waiting for this gym to open was so worth it!

Fantastic experience: An amazing gym - I’ve not seen or used anything like it and thanks for sorting out the sanitisation stands. Highly recommend and and well worth the monthly subscription.

Positive experience: Huge variety of machines to use. Friendly staff. Pretty busy at the moment. However, it is still in its first month of being open. Great price for how big the gym is.

Positive experience: Been twice so far and have had a good experience. Plenty of machine variety and helpful staff. Has been quite busy although its only the 1st month. One suggestion would be a crowd meter on the app so we could have a better idea on how busy the gym is. But overall, great gym.

Fantastic experience: Super Impressive Gym Really well thought out & more than ample kit & equipment- I was shocked to read the negative reviews & really wouldn’t listen to them if I were you. The gym has great kit, changing rooms are clean and tidy, sauna in the changing room is terrific and a nice chilled vibe in the gym, not to mention ample free parking! There is no fighting for kit or people waiting around, a couple water stations to fill your bottle and massage muscle guns for when you have completed your workout. I’ve yet to try a class but looking forward to that & happy to see there is some yoga for members to enjoy and stretch their bodies after all the muscle pumping! Hoping they have a cheeky handout of face towels with JD on at some point as a freebie for guests but other than that you can’t ask for anything more haha! Thanks guys- great job with this gym! I will be remaining a member for sure!!

Fantastic experience: Great gym. Clean tidy and staff are friendly and helpful. Can be busy at 6pm so I go early in the morning now before work.

Negative experience: This is by far one of the worst gyms I have been to. Dirty and poor cleaning conditions, equipment to close together bless the poor guy next to me apologizing as he knew he may as well as sat on my lap wouldn't of minded if he wasn't around my dads age !! Such a distressing experience so treated myself to a large burger on the way home. Overall gained about 5pounds so thanks for that !

Positive experience: Plenty of equipment, changing rooms appear clean and access it good. The place is very busy, but I haven't had any issues getting on kit. The 'no-bags on the floor' doesn't appear to be enforced though.

Positive experience: New review! As I’ve used the gym 5 times so far, I’m definitely enjoying it more! My favourite part is the equipment as there is so much you can’t get at any other gym near by! The first day I went it was very overwhelming as it was packed and that’s when I got singled out for my bag. I’ve been these last few days and it’s been pleasant and quiet! The only negative I’ve had is some of the teenagers are very rude!

Negative experience: I have given this gym 2 stars. It has wonderful facilities is spotlessly clean but..... as with any giant soulless gym franchise the staff are just the vulture PT types who unless you are paying for there service they don't want any interaction whatsoever. No cleaning stations at first glance. Showers and toilets seem small for the volume of trade expected for a two thousand membership target. JD are not doing the fitness industry any favours here by employing staff that talk the talk but actually look awful with the exception of riley who I have watched first hand train very hard. This is based on this gym being open less than a week so this review may be altered ... I have been and used the studio to practice my Posing routine and got asked to not use it for this purpose ?? James hunt .

Negative experience: 1. Equipments are too close so members are on top of each other ( very close ). Even the benches are so close together and you have put one behind every 2 benches which is again very close. I have never seen such setup in any gym. You need to give people space to workout not just cram everything in.. 2. No hygiene, no sanitisers or towels to clean equipments after use, so you have to use sweaty equipments 3. Changing rooms close at 10pm - only 2 accessible showers which are not enough at all. I workout after 10pm so very inconvenient as people queuing for just 2 showers .. any other gym either have private showers which are open all night or have a code to enter into changing rooms at night time which means accessible 24/7 - why not here .. 4. Promised that there will be boxing that is why i signed up but it was false marketing. 5. 1st day on opening day went there and it was literally working out in a sauna. Terrible air conditioning

Negative experience: average at best, no cleaning equipment, poor ac, and the changing rooms close too early. Other 24hr gyms have changes rooms open until midnught everday, so why not jd?

Fantastic experience: Beyond impressed. It has a massive free weights area, an abundance of squat racks & machines, premium Eleiko bars & plates, and a large functional area with a rig, concept 2 cardio equipment, and various kettlebells, dumbbells etc. The upstairs is predominantly cardio (with a wide variety of high quality, new machines), small functional areas, and a large, modern studio. The changing rooms are on the smaller size, but have what you need (and also a sauna). The gym is open 24/7, parking is free, and there are plenty of PTs and classes. Great gym, highly recommended.

Positive experience: Very nice gym, great equipment great atmosphere. Would be nice if the AC was a little cooler however EDIT: Lowered to 4 because they turn the AC off at night, no idea why..

Negative experience: Edit 30/06/23 - okay they did finally put out cleaning sprays and tissues. I’ll change my review to 2 stars. But access issues still remains as mentioned below. Really good gym but no tissues or anti bacterial sprays to clean other members sweat off. When asked the staff told us to bring our own sweat towels but did not comment on providing anti bacterial spray because it’s not a priority now as Covid is over. Which does not make sense as there should be some sanitizer available to clean sweat off. Plus teenagers in men’s sauna room fully clothed and wearing dirty shoes inside. Also access issue as you can only enter once. I was locked out for an hour until staff arrived because I had to go back to my car to get my headphones.

Positive experience: Was very excited to join as equipment’s are really good but very disappointed as no hygiene maintained. Exercise benches left covered in sweat no tissues or hygiene spray provided by gym. Edited :- 4-7-23 they have now allocated one table with cleaning bottle and tissue roll. Would be Better if this can be allocated to more places.

Fantastic experience: REALLY IMPRESSIVE GYM! So I know they've advertised this for a while, but it's definitely been worth the wait. The gym is super modern and ultra premium looking and you'll notice that the first time you step in. The equipment looks amazing and it seems bulletproof. Especially the weightlifting area downstairs, the massive free weights bit. And even the cardio and class studio looks super swish. To top it off, they've got massage guns in the gym (I've never seen that before?!), nice changing rooms and saunas. AND it's open 24 hours a day! If you're interested in joining, it's definitely worth having a look around before signing up.
