Our comment from FitFit UK about The Spa At Crewe Hall:
The Spa At Crewe Hall offers a beautiful setting with lovely surroundings and friendly staff, making it a delightful choice for relaxation and treatments. Guests have praised the exceptional massages, particularly from therapists like Charlotte and Hilary, highlighting the efficacy of treatments such as full body massages and scrubs. The facilities include a clean gym, a 25m pool, steam and sauna rooms, though some noted that these could do with updates.
However, there have been several concerns regarding the overall maintenance and functionality of the spa facilities. Guests often experience overcrowding, particularly due to children's activities during the day, which detracts from the relaxing atmosphere expected in a spa. Some have expressed disappointment with the food quality and service within the brasserie, reporting chaotic meal situations and mediocre cuisine.
Despite these issues, many visitors acknowledge that the staff strive to provide a wonderful experience, and some guests have enjoyed their time thoroughly. Overall, if you are looking for a well-priced spa day with good treatments amidst beautiful surroundings, The Spa At Crewe Hall could be worth a visit, albeit with tempered expectations regarding the facilities and food.

The Spa At Crewe Hall: Opinions
Negative experience: Shocking rip off My family booked Christmas Day dinner at Crewe Hall for £90 ahead. This is quite expensive but we assumed it will be worth it due to the setting and the anticipated quality of the food. Regrettably we were a bit disappointed the food was presented more like a care home portion and was extremely average Quality and we were all convinced that the turkey was processed and not carved from a real bird. The meal cost our table almost £2000 and we all felt incredibly ripped off I would certainly discourage anybody from ever considering having Christmas Day dinner at this setting again unless of course you are a wealthy octogenarian who spends most of your life in a care home Utter rip off, shame on the management at Crewe Hall
Negative experience: Facilities are great but the massage are awful. I've been given a menu to choose what I can have and was given a different treatment, I've mentioned this to the lady and told me I need to pay extra for it. I've already got everything paid for and I don't see why give a menu when it's not included in the spa package. Barely any pressures with the massage and felt like no effort was put
Negative experience: I booked this spa day for myself and my husband for his birthday, for we don’t get much time together as we both work very hard and have a young child, we had booked this day off together and arranged childcare to what we struggle with, the treatment itself was ok, we both had full body scrub but missed the shoulders and chest wasn’t done, went into the the spa facility’s, very loud and busy with young children, no beds at all people hogging with towels, the “jacuzzi” is big enough for 2 people ! We didn’t Evan use this when we was there as it was always full, went into to reception to see if they had any more beds, they said no sorry, we did try to relax and enjoy but after having a sauna and being shattered and no where to sit or relax we just couldn’t take it anymore and we left spending only 2 hours for a whole spa day!! Management said we could book another day when it’s quieter but I’m sorry we couldn’t go through that again, we went to go relax and felt more stressed on leaving!!
Negative experience: Booked a Freestyle Deep Tissue massage here. Unfortunately deep tissue didn't have enough pressure. No emphasis on the neck aspect at all. I was waiting for my trapezius to have massaged as been a long and tiring drive up. The acormial/scapular part of the trapezius wasn't even massaged. The massage didn't even touch the quadriceps of thigh. Just a single stretch by flexing the knee. That's all. I wouldn't even call this a tissue massage, let alone a "deep" tissue massage. The stay at the hotel has been great though. But apart from it. Not too great at all.
Negative experience: Spent a couple of days at the so called ‘dog friendly’ Crewe Hall. This was for an internationally organised dog grooming event. To say there were no clear rules as to where dogs were allowed is an understatement. It seemed to depend on the staff in the brassiere at that time. We decided on the first night that I would stay with my dog whilst my friends went for dinner and I would have room service, only to be told this was not available and that my friends would have to bring a tray up to me. On one occasion we were asked to eat in the bar area, not a problem, but our table was surrounded with fragments of glass. Our room was standard, no luxury there, the mini fridge didn’t work and neither did a lot of the room lights. There was kibble left on the floor from the previous guests, which my dog found and started to eat. This could have been anything and another unfortunate incident that could have lead to expensive emergency veterinary care. My small dog had an accident on our first night, which was mopped up and duly reported to reception in the morning. They added a £50 cleaning charge to our account and said someone would come to look at it. They did, couldn’t see it, tried to say other marks in the carpet must be it and they would be back. They didn’t come back to clean it, but did replace a lightbulb! When we questioned the receptionist on departure about the different issues she said that things hadn’t gone to plan because of a shortage of staff. So the organised buffet and alternative eating arrangements made by the organisers with the Hall team for those with dogs didn’t happen making things very difficult. From what I heard from my friends I can only say I am glad I decided not to make use of the spa and leisure facilities I can honestly say I have had much, much better at Premier Inns. Their rooms are comfortable, clean, light and spacious. The dining is of a great standard and of equal pricing to the Crewe Hall
Fantastic experience: The best full body massage that I’ve ever had. Beautiful surroundings and relaxing music with the beautiful smell of Elemis products. Lovely staff friendly yet professional. Relaxation area afterwards completed the most wonderful experience Highly recommend
Fantastic experience: Like a spectacular museum
Negative experience: Terrible £7 50! Fir a sandwich ,bread was stale & hardly any filling wine was like vinegar that went back ,ordered a ceaser salad ,was just lettuce £20!!!!!!!!!! We paid for VIP ,for 2 nights ,no where near VIP cliffs in Blackpool beats this place hands down ,supposed be in restaurant not used not enough people ,gas went off ,,so menu was changed ,& not much choice ,my friend is sending email with all our complaints ,£300 for VIP (( not))) stay away
Negative experience: Attended this venue which was under whelming, it’s a sports club with mini facilities for a spa. Poorest spa facility I’ve seen, treatment was as expected but chillin with the kids in what felt like the local baths didn’t quite meet my definition of relaxing. One room represented a lounge which had 6 ladies sitting in on my return from treatment leaving no seats…that’s right mini lounge ! No drinks other than a paper cup of water and certainly no pampering activity. We just packed up and came home from the leisure centre and reflected the benefit of only paying half price . If you want a spa check other places, I was however offered the option of another visit which was kind but it was an easy decision to decline. Good luck if you go but expectation management should be applied if you’ve been to others.
Fantastic experience: Went on friends day pass. Good, clean gym with enough equipment. 25m pool, steam, sauna and little jaccuzi. Clean with lockers and good showers.
Fantastic experience: Lovely relaxing spa
Positive experience: Booked a spa day for myself and my daughter which included a 25 minute treatment each and afternoon tea. The girl who greeted us on reception was very nice and she showed us into the changing areas. We were expecting a relaxing day with other adults but the changing rooms and pool area were full of small children. There were a small number of loungers very close together around the pool - as we were there early we managed to secure two beds but we saw other people arrive later and there were no beds left. There was one small whirlpool which was obviously in demand and there was a sign saying it was for the use of people aged 16+ only. Despite this, we saw 2 small children led to the whirlpool which already had 2 ladies on it trying to enjoy their spa day - the mother then walked away and sat down out of sight leaving the kids there. No lifeguard or pool attendant was in sight. We managed 10 minutes in the whirlpool during our day but were very conscious of the other people waiting their turn to use it. We also used the sauna and steam room. Our treatments were fine although the room was chilly. After our treatment we asked where to go for afternoon tea and were told that it was in the main hotel (a good distance away) and that we would have to get dressed again to eat there. This was disappointing as we were expecting to be able to go back to the pool area after lunch but, not wanting to hike back to the spa and put wet swimsuits back on we called it a day and went home. The shampoo/body wash dispensers in the showers were empty and we were only given 1 small towel each which was soaked after using it on our loungers - no more towels were available to use after our showers. Overall we did enjoy our day but hadn’t realised that this ‘spa’ was actually just the pool area of a leisure centre used by lots of other people and families . For this reason it wasn’t nearly as relaxing as we had hoped.
Fantastic experience: Lost a few aches and pains and so very relaxing
Negative experience: We are attending the Christmas party event with a company Christmas party 2 of the team are diabetic and Crewe Hall are offering as the diabetic option Fruit Salad with sorbet!!!!!!!!! All sugar and totally unacceptable for a diabetic we have asked if they can provide cheese and biscuits, we are offering to pay extra, but they will not help at all. It is totally poor service. I was under the impression these large companies were supposed to offer alternatives for dietary requirements
Fantastic experience:
Negative experience: Very dissapointed. Staff not helpfull at all after loosing a product I purchased from them. Rnging them a number of times and emailing them and got no call back or reply to email. Was told they would look on camera but did not!
Fantastic experience: Love the spa and the facilities.Lovely food. Good value .
Fantastic experience: Had a Frangipani scrub with neck, back and shoulder massage with Hilary and it was the best I’ve ever had! So relaxing, unbelievable massage and lovely products. Cannot recommend enough, felt like a new person after and Hilary was just lovely. Thank you!!!!
Negative experience: Local leisure center meets Butlin's Spa. Booked spa day with 25 minute treatment and left disappointed. Don't be disillusioned by the beauty of Crewe Hall as the Spa center itself is situated separately and is far from fancy. Layout was awkward (you have to walk across small, public reception to access treatment area from pool/spa, and a 5 minute walk across the complex for food/drinks). The overall maintenance was poor. Sauna and hot tub all far too small, barely fit 3 people. Not enough loungers or areas for sitting. Burst pipe at water fountain. Buffet was £16 and food looked dry, old and cheap. The buffet provided was 4 bowls of rice, some lettuce and croutons, 4 bowls of chicken/fish/leather, 4 sausage(?) baps, and a few slices of pineapple. Sadly the neck, back and shoulder treatment was more of a 20 minute back rub. Whole experience not very relaxing and not worth the £70 spent.
Negative experience: Staff were friendly, but no clear direction. Staff were sitting at reception with lots of water bottles, not sure if they were supposed to be given to spa guests complimentary, but not offered. The pool loungers have seen better days and not enough of them. Jacuzzi could just about fit 3 people, and would have to be friends, far too small to sit with strangers. There was an odour (drainage) by the warm beds which became apparent after sitting for a few minutes. No cups at the water fountain/tap. No soap in ladies toilet/locker room either. Massage was OK but the room was cold, not conducive to a relaxing massage. I was asked if the temperature was OK and when I said its a little chilli, was told its because I have a wet bikini . Would have thought that was a given. Certainly no candles like the pictures portray. Also wondering when my neck would get a turn during my neck, back and shoulder massage. The final nail was lunch. Wasn't sure if it was included in my simple spa voucher deal. Told it would be £16 per person. Not a problem..... went to the Brasserie 15 minutes before alloted time of half 12. Advised it was buffet and help yourself, not a problem..... under the hot plates was food that looked liked party left overs. Not sure how long the food had been sitting there as couldn't see anyone still prepping and, we were early. For anyone arriving at half 12, that food would have been sat for at least 15 minutes!!! With lots of flies buzzing round it too. I went back to locker room, changed and left. My spa day turned out ho be spa 2 and a bit hours. I would not recommend for a spa day. OK to pop down for a swim if you're a guest at the hotel, but not a spa day. Facilities just not adequate. Not relaxing, over priced. Such a shame as the drive up to the hall looks spectacular.
Negative experience: Avoid at all costs! Customer service none existent, no communication, online booking system confirmation means nothing and get told different things on arrival. Reception staff just shrugging shoulders no help at all. Time slots all over the place 25 minute slot allocated for 50 minute treatments. No communication between staff. My wife left in a treatment room for half an hour by the manager. Absolute shambles! If you want a relaxing spa day do not book here! You have been warned!
Negative experience: Visited here. Last week had a bad experience with the treatments as the mats uses smelt of damp the robes weren't soft and had a oil smell to them without fragrance. Aqua class booming out music while we were trying to relax around the pool. Not enough recliners for our party of 5. The chill out room was far from chill out. Would not recommend
Positive experience: 4 ladies on our first overnight spa at Crewe hall. On arrival building is beautiful and expectations grow. We booked in and we were given directions to our rooms, we found eventually we unpacked and got ourselves ready for our spa treatments which was included in the package 25 mins well this is the disappointing part of it I took my watch of and looked at the time 4.10 my treatment was a 25 min back shoulder neck massage, I was asked how firm I like it and the lady started no sooner had she started it was over I put my robe and watch back on time being 4.20 what a disappointment it was as you look forward to the treatment, tried not to let it damper my stay. Food was lovely in the evening and dining staff were so polite. Our room was dated we had splatters of something on the bedroom ceiling.the curtains were so heavy and dusty and to add to the character of the bedroom a plaster had been put over the blue light on the fire ceiling sensor not sure why but clearly rooms are not checked.overall our expectations were slightly let down it could have been better.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful place .ladies on front desk were fantastic.staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Spotless place .beautiful food .overall had a fantastic night.the barman from the terrace bar was fantastic think his name was Joe or josh had a few drinks so can't quite remember his name.well worth a trip. Will defo be back
Positive experience: Spa facilities were not all available.. The experience shower recently broke.. The steam room been closed for a couple of months. The brasserie was diabolical one member got food poisoning from raw chicken.. The staff were slow and uninterested in the customers.. They took wrong orders for drinks and food. I could go on but being investigated.. Some serious changes are needed!!
Positive experience: Could do with a before treatment room as well as the relax lounge, nothing worse than relaxing after a treatment and having the rekax lounge full of people talking! Could be people don't know spa etiquette! Massage was lovely.
Positive experience: Nice place to visit if you're after somewhere a little less on the pricey side. Good value for money compared to others in the area that are twice the price. Food is basic but pleasant, the spa itself is slightly dated but was booked for updates (in May) when we visited. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming and more than happy to help. Overall nice day out, only given 3 stars as you can feel the difference between this and the more expensive spa days but you get what you pay for. 3*+
Negative experience: It's gone seriously down hill here, food was poor, the facilities were far from luxury. The only saving grace was the treatment.
Positive experience: I booked a solo visit for my birthday. The indulgence package. Check in wasn’t great. I was essentially ignored on arrival, although the young man was on a call. There was a mix up over the price I was being asked to pay, which was more than advised on my confirmation email. However, this was honoured. Wasn’t really told about my treatments just given a choice on a piece of paper, which I rushed due to people waiting behind me. Housekeeping in the changing room was not good. No paper in one of the WC’s and the basket for used robes and towels was overflowing, due to not being emptied. Not enough loungers for spa guests. Ice fountain wasn’t working. Lunch was pretty good apart from dry and hard rice. Whilst dining, I noticed waiting on staff approach other tables to ask if everything was ok. I was not asked, despite being on my own. The treatments were lovely and were the best part of my visit. Would I return? Probably not to be honest. I contacted them on the evening of my visit, but they haven’t bothered to respond. So I won’t be recommending. Disappointing really.
Fantastic experience: I attended Crewe Hall today for a spa day experience with my friend. I had a fit for business massage. The lady who did my massage is called Charlotte and I can't recommend her enough. My back is full of knots as I train alot and Charlotte worked on all my knots and really worked my muscles, my back feels so much better now thank you.
Positive experience: The hotel was okay, very warm. There was obviously staffing issues as we ordered lunch and after an hour waiting, enquired where it was and they hadn't put the order through. The evening meal was enjoyable, however there were lots of complaints due to how long people were waiting for food throughout our time in the restaurant. We didnt eat dessert as we felt we had been in the restaurant too long by then, so left a little disappointed. The Spa and treatments are amazing, and for me was the best part of this stay. I would definitely recommend the Spa treatments and would go back just for these!
Negative experience: Absolutely disastrous from one end of the stay to the other. Full refund offered after the start but a wasted 3hrs of travel and time with my friends interrupted by keycards which didn't work and took 20m at a time to fix by the time you walk back to the front desk, wait and then walk back. Apparently it's a thing the staff have been telling management who haven't listened. Spa appointments repeatedly moved so we didn't have them all at once like we'd booked. Not enough wait staff so food took forever. No flip/flops supplied for by the pool and the lockers in the poll area require £1. The hotel is two halves - only stay in the modern half. There are so many other places to stay in the UK - go there until they've sorted out staffing, rooms and amenities.
Negative experience: Disappointing! Booked the Indulgence package but it was far from this. Firstly, don't be deceived by the advertisement for a luxury spa at Crewe Hall. You don't actually enter the grounds let alone the gorgeous building. It should be advertised as Reflections Spa near Crewe Hall. It is a small facility, in need of refurbishment, not good for groups. There is a fairly decent sized pool, tiny cold jacuzzi that will probably fit just 4 people. There are a few loungers and chairs dotted about poolside so again if there are a few of you, you might not get to sit and chill. This is separate from the spa, and you are only meant to use the 'relaxation room' after you have had your treatment so other than the corridor waiting room, there's not anywhere else to relax. The Brasserie serving lunch was shocking! The food was just about edible. It was a very random offering...like the chef had gathered all the leftovers from the night before and served them up. Would not have expected boil in the bag rice for a hotel like this. We sat down for 1pm and the breakfast things were still out..warm juices, toaster table left out with breadcrumbs all over the table and a couple of pieces of bread and a bagel. Make sure you ask for your prosecco if it was included in your package as you don't automatically get it. We never got ours. The one good thing about the spa is the treatments. The therapists were nice and friendly but would have been good if we were provided with after treatment advice so we could purchase some products, as we were aware of a special elemis offer but not this was not mentioned. A spa should always have a Refreshment area where you can help yourselves to complimentary drinks throughout the day. We couldn't see anything like this until we accessed the relaxation room towards the end of our day and then it was only warm water. I questioned whether my standards were too high but in fact they weren't. We paid a lot of money for a spa day and it wasn't worth it. We were there to celebrate a special birthday so although we were in good company, the setting was not. Other groups we had met on the day also felt the same so it really wasn't just me feeling disgruntled. If you want a luxury indulgent spa day, do not book here! Save your money and book elsewhere.
Positive experience: The whole hotel is in need of refurb. The spa in particular is well used and a bit grubby in places. Front of house staff are thin on the ground and untrained in the main. It was my first time here, and it will probably be my last?
Fantastic experience: I've never stayed over but the spa is lovely! Their is a cold mist shower, sauna, steam room, hot tub.
Negative experience: Facilities fairly old tired and minimal, , massage ok, although asked if I had any problem areas that wanted some focus, then didn't go near them. Food good, but the staff are awful, wrong paperwork package printed, so we had to scrabble around on our phones to choose a treatment, no explanation of what was included, it was just assumed we knew where to go, far too much trouble for them to get up and show us. The restaurant was the same , we were just seated and left, with no explanation as to whether we ordered from a menu or if it was a buffet. Their card machine had broken (not our fault) then we were asked about payment or vouchers everytime we walked past reception. All in all, very disappointed, would not recommend
Negative experience: Disappointing and very cold day I was looking forward to a relaxing day, I couldn’t have been more disappointed. We arrived at 9.30 to find the pool full of children who were noisy and not confined to the pool were running in and out of the sauna and steam room. Had I been warned that the pool is used by children in the morning I would have chosen an afternoon visit. The changing room was very cold, the jacuzzi was very small, we just about fit four in with knees touches and the water was cold. The pool water was also cold so actually the only warm places in the spa were the sauna and steam rooms. The treatments were good except the relaxation room we waited in was cold. When we went to lunch at 12.30 there was 1 poor gentleman to serve all the spa visitors and members of the public, there was other staff but no one seemed in a hurry to help him despite me asking. After a long wait to eat (not the waiters fault) we were given a very limited choice of food and wouldn’t have got the Prosecco if I hadn’t asked (again not the waiters fault as he just couldn’t cope) We didn’t bother waiting for a cup of tea as he just didn’t have time to make tea for everyone. A very disappointing day and complete waste of £188
Positive experience: Went here for gym, swim and massage. The gym is clean with good equipment. Pool area good, could do with a little upgrade here and there. Sauna and steam room we're perfect. Massage was very good, with ambient room. The massage area is next to the entrance and reception area which is a bit awkward if you want to move from swim to massage in robes. I was a little confused on instructions to the massage area. Lots of parking. Wheelchair accessible. Lovely surrounding hall and fields.
Fantastic experience: Nice relaxing afternoon
Positive experience: Crewe Hall delicious buffet lunch included in spa package. Massage was delightful. Relaxation room was very relaxing. Everyone is lovely in the spa. They have all sorts of gimmicks like 2 heated lounge chairs. A tropical shower etc. Which are wonderful only problem is spa pool isn't hot enough.
Fantastic experience: FABULOUS RECEPTION STAFF THAT MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE FAMILY. I dont normally write reviews but after joining as a member I have been incredibly impressed with all their staff so I think a review is definitely in order. The swimming pool is always extremely clean and lovely and warm and the changing room kept pristine. The staff on reception are very professional and really make you feel at home particularly Louise and Jasmine, who go above and beyond making sure your visit to Crewe Hall is a visit to remember. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them and they make you feel like family at ever visit I would definitely recommend this spa for a very relaxing treat.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant spa day!
Fantastic experience: The Spa here is amazing. Lovely friendly staff who are good at what they do. Had an amazing all over exfoliation and back massage. Feeling great today. Will definitely be back for another spa break.
Positive experience: Rooms are in the annexe to the hall. Very nice but not as nice as shown in the photo. Changing rooms for spa need tlc. Spa treatment fabulous. Food in brasserie excellent. Nothing too much trouble for all staff. Excellent value for money. Thank you.
Positive experience: Massage and service fantastic. Pool area could do with a bit of an upgrade or refurbishment. Great food at the brasserie too
Positive experience: Very fancy.. Good treatments, but 45 min wait to get a drink seems a bit disorganised.
Negative experience: Left a voice mail over a week ago and still waiting for a call back
Positive experience: Came for a spa day after family member paid for vouchers. Spa treatments and staff are fantastic. Could not fault. Spa lounge lovely and chill vibe. Only down side is pool and rest of facilities very disappointing especially when you want a chill day. Went to thr pool had children's swimming lessons going on and very busy. Only steam room and sauna with hot tub. Wouldn't come again for the facilities but would come for treatments. It's a shame when crewe Hall is a beautiful picture perfect place to have .
Negative experience: Poor service in brasserie... Culture of laziness.. Management offering no guidance to a set of children who simply don't care
Fantastic experience: Had a great day at the spa. staff very pleased to see you. pool, sauna and steam room very clean. disappointed that no were to have a coffee or drink nr the spa area. drinks are available in the brasserie. which it's not far to walk to, but I think they could find a corner to half a coffee machine.
Fantastic experience: A beautiful ancient hotel with some retro style rooms, but clean and well kept and with everything that you might need. Good quality free WiFi and an excellent spa on site. The restaurant food was very high quality, we had a fantastic weekend there.
Positive experience: Myself and my mum went on a spa day here through Red Letter Days. On the whole for what you pay it’s a decent spa day. The treatment was amazing and the spa rooms and area is lovely. The pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna were nice. The staff in the spa and restaurant were very friendly and competent. The one thing that let the day down was the lunch. There was only option and was poor quality. Also not very in keeping with a ‘spa day’.Also, the photos are quite misleading the spa is not in Crewe hall itself but in a separate building off to the side. It was nice to drive up and see the hall but that is not where your experience is.
Fantastic experience: This was my 2nd time at Crewe Hall spa and we had a lovely time. The 50 min treatment was excellent as was the 2 course lunch. All the staff were very helpful and friendly too. This was booked through Buy A Gift so we got a discounted price.
Positive experience: Bought this spa day via Virgin Experience Days with my fiance. I think for what we payed (£50 each) it was worth the money. Spa is small but did the job. Pool was lovely. Children's swimming lessons started at 4 which ruined the silence a bit. Lunch was average, and seemed a little chaotic. But again, you get what you pay for. Treatment was very good (50 mins) and we both really enjoyed that. All in all, a cheap day out and did the job. Spas a bit dated and needs re-vamp.
Fantastic experience: Both my best friend and i went a spa day and over night stay at Crewe Hall and had the most amazing time.and although they were short staffed all the staff worked their socks off to do what they could for us. Great lunch included in the spa day and great delivery to our room from the rottiserie and breakfast was amazing. Will be returning thank you for the best time.
Fantastic experience: I booked a spa break and opted for a back massage and facial. I arrived at reception and was greeted by a really friendly and helpful receptionist. Everything was explained and I was told I could use the gym. The gym was well equipped with a mixture if cardio and strength. The pool area was nice with a good size pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. They had an ice fountain which was nice. The treatment was nice they did an exfoliating salt rub. I'll definitely go back
Fantastic experience: Couldn't of asked for a better spa experience. I had the face neck and back massage. Wow just wow. The young girl who did my treatments was very friendly and was good at her job. Highly recommended
Negative experience: Hotel room was huge but felt weirdly cramped as all the furniture was in 1 side with only the bed in the other. The bed itself was good but the 2 designer chairs were really uncomfortable. And it was a little bit dirty with tea stains on the wall behind the bin and lots of accumulated dust on the chairs. The new modern wing is soulless and finding our way around was confusing as all the signs took us a long way around. To get to the spa, we went through long drab corridor that felt almost abandoned. The spa itself is OK with a steam room, sauna, spray shower and 2 very cold benches which should really be warm. The pool is 1.2m throughout. The restaurant is an average brasserie with expensive list of dishes not worth the price. £16.50 for 2 falafels! But the service is what let this hotel down for us. Uncaring, untrained and inexperienced staff, it left us wishing we'd paid 1/2 the price for what we actually got... The main building is a joy to look at though. But go for a drink and walk around and you'll get the best of the place.
Fantastic experience: Clear website, found my way around the website easily, very well presented aswell
Fantastic experience: Booked a spa break package for 2 nights and have to say the spa and pool staff were most efficient and very friendly. Our therapist Dani was excellent for both treatments we had. Very relaxing!
Fantastic experience: I was invited by a friend to join her on a spa day package. Upon arrival we were told we were early but the staff were so attentive and accommodating, and after a nice stroll around the gardens we were all booked in and sat by the pool. The treatments were truly amazing, Charlotte and Demi both did a wonderful job of making us feel stress free and relaxed. Once we were ready we walked over to the main hall to enjoy our light lunch. Given past reviews we were a little dubious of what to expect...we had the soup for starters and the flatbread with Pepperoni with a side of chips. Well past reviews were quickly put to bed as the food was absolutely delicious. Service was spot on and the girls were super lovely. Thanks to all the staff that made it a truly memorable day.
Negative experience: TERRIBLE place . You cant even get through to anyone who knows anything. Run by kids. Low class place....
Fantastic experience: Highly recommend very nice place
Positive experience: Member at the gym & spa. Gym and pool open, but no jacuzzi, steam room or sauna at present.
Fantastic experience: Staff are lovely and facial was the best I have ever had!
Positive experience: This is my review of recent visit to Crewe hall for a spa break to celebrate my future sister in law hen night. On arriving the first impression of the hotel at the end of the grand driveway is a beautiful old building, plenty of character in the original build, with a newly built extension added where the main facilities are available. Our check in process was incredibly muddled to say the least, we were obviously in a group where not everybody knows each other yet the reception team thought it was ok to hand out keys in any old order and the rooms were not allocated correctly. My disabled aunt ended up being told when she went to check in that her key was already with a member of the hen party, and she had to go and find it for herself. It was not easy for her, being disabled and unwell to be traipsing around in search of a person she has never met to get a room key. Totally unacceptable, I have never known a hotel to operate this way, handing out the room keys in bundle. And when my 2 aunts eventually got their room it was obvious that they had gotten the wrong room as my aunts ended up having to share a double bed. And the lady that had the other key must have had the twin room meant for my aunts. Anyway the rooms themselves, in the newer part of the building, were a good size for me and my cousin, we had a twin room. Beds very comfy. Tea/coffee making facilities provided were adequate for quick brew first thing. Complimentary hair/body/wash as standard was a nice touch. Other room extras were hairdryer, mini fridge, iron and board, TV, plenty of plug sockets. Large bath and separate walk in shower in bathroom, overall the rooms in the new build side are of a good standard, although we had a room on the inside of the extension so the view was pretty much just a mud pit so would like to think that there are plans to turn that mud pit area into something more pleasing to the eye. As part of the spa break package we had treatment and use of facilities of the pool/Jacuzzi/gym etc. Unfortunately I can’t comment on these facilities fully as due to injury I didn’t use them fully. Instead I waited for my treatment in the relaxation room provided. I did enjoy the mini facial and back neck and shoulder massage for my treatment. Left me feeling fresh and rejuvenated, I have never had a facial before and would definitely recommend it. The lady was pleasant and very chatty. No complaints about the staff in the spa except due to staffing issues, some of the group had to miss out on their treatment and the time slots were muddled around so I was on my own having my treatment separate from people I know in the group so I couldn’t relax and enjoy the experience fully with my family as hoped. Again it felt a little unorganised similar to reception checking in scenario. As part of the package we were provided with lunch on arrival day, evening meal and breakfast the following morning. Lunch was basic sandwich and sides, nothing too fancy, however a really nice touch was the self serve salad bar, and a selection of desserts included. Food was ok, best bit about the brasserie was the staff, Michael was stand out at lunch time service, going above and beyond. Evening meal was chosen at lunch, the soup was lovely and very tasty, although the bread roll on the side was very hard. The main course I chose was beef burger and was really quite good, not asked but served medium, pink in the middle. The chocolate brownie was the least nice of the meal, hard and stale tasting. Again the best bit of the dinner service was the staff. A young waiter Finn was the stand out staff member of the evening, very attentive and pleasant. Breakfast was ok, cooked/cereals. I didn’t feel like the sausages were great quality, a bit too gristly for my liking. Bacon was nice though. Scrambled or fried eggs available, both slightly uncooked in my opinion. Hot drinks brought to table on request. Overall the experience of the Crewe hall spa day break was a good one. It’s a shame about the muddled room situation as that really was a huge let down.
Positive experience: Lovely place
Positive experience: Well worth a visit, spa was so relaxing, next time I will stay over
Positive experience: Friendly staff and clean with all the equipment you would expect in a spa. Jacuzzi was only small and only really fitted 2 people, i went midweek in the morning but still busy and was no spare loungers by the pool and could never really get in the jacuzzi. If you are paying full price for this you maybe upset when you get there and its busy due to being sold on groupon.
Positive experience: A lovely spa day with wonderful treatments. Limited spa facilities but staff were lovely and attentive and food in the restaurant was very nice.
Negative experience: A real dump. Cold pool and in need of a re-vamp. Cant keep managers for long.
Negative experience: Like a public swimming pool with children . Not enough sun loungers and not a calming environment at all. Very disappointing.
Fantastic experience: Nice place
Positive experience: Didn't stay for room just used spa facilities, great time, you don't have to be a member just call up and they will work out some sort of deal for you, good quality facilities and great bar and snacks
Positive experience: Lovely massage and facial , partner was not happy as for 1 hour the lady kept taking . Steam was nice and the cold mist shower
Fantastic experience: I had a 7 day free pass voucher to use at reflections spa and gym.staff were friendly and helpful.the spa was very clean.and the gym has some great equipment .highly recommended.
Positive experience: Small spa, very good treatment's. Special offers with lunch and treatment very good value.
Negative experience: The spa Facilities Look very tired. There was four of us on a spa day with treatments and it was just very average If you’ve been to Rookery Hall Oh man you are the places you will be disappointed with the spa
Negative experience: The building is grand but the owners should be ashamed of the place. The grounds need serious attention even the lawn area around the car park gives off a terrible impression. The spa itself needs serious investment
Fantastic experience: CAME HOME COMPLETELY RELAXED, LUNCH WAS INCLUDED WHICH WAS VERY GOOD
Negative experience: Booked a spa day here for mothers day, however we were highly disappointed. The facilities were poor, full of screaming children which is not what you expect from a relaxing spa day. The changing rooms were dirty, no plug sockets, two out of three toilets out of order and the hairdryer was out of order. Photos speak for themselves. Refund would be appreciated.
Negative experience: Disappointed !! It's a leisure centre ! Not a relaxing spa..
Fantastic experience: Had a really good time but the jacuzzi wasn't in use the day we went would have been better if it was working
Fantastic experience: Today was really good. Arrived just before 10am, easy check in. Went for our coffee and pastry. Then the pool, steam room, hot beds and sauna. Didn't use the new Jacuzzi this time. I had here Revitalise massage: salt exfoliation then back massage. It was very very good. Then into quiet room and try not to fall asleep. They've replaced the coded lockers that kept breaking with keys - much better.
Negative experience: Dissapoining booked Spa Day, no jacuzzi, only 8 loungers all taken by hotel guests, given garden furniture to sit on next to the broken jacuzzi a danger in its self , given as you could have fallen into it if you moved your chair, no sauna , broken lockers , small pool laned off , not adequate to call it's self a Spa place , better off at the Leisure Centre, feel sorry for the lovely staff who no doubt get lots of complaints.
Negative experience: Purchased a Groupon spa day, tried to ring on numerous occasions, left messages had no reply, emailed had one reply then nothing further, apalling customer service, wish I never purchased!!! Asked Groupon to step in, still nothing!!!
Fantastic experience: Lovely day with a friend. Great pool, but needs more seating, sauna excellent and steam room. The staff are so amenable, friendly and caring. We both had treatments, which were excellent and very relaxing. We had lunch, which was buffet style, very nice, and again wonderful, friendly staff. We stayed for an evening meal, lovely menu and wonderful staff. All in all a lovely day.
Negative experience: Awful experience here everything was broken. There was also a couple in the pool getting a bit too touchy with eachother.
Negative experience: Facilities tired, broken or out of use. In need of a major refurb. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.
Positive experience: Visited Feb 2019 A few points to make. The grand photos on here are mainly the hotel and not the Spa. Misleading. No charge for robe and flops hire which was good. The jacuzzi was broke. As was the showers you use after steam room. As was one of the changing room showers in both male and female. I opened my first locker door and it fell off the hinges. Seriously, employ a maintenance guy! We were treated to free lunch and fizz as a sorry but the whirlpool especially - it’s a vital part. People were not impressed it’s broken. Massages were ace, thanks to Caroline. My first spa experience and I left relaxed, so did it’s job. Cannot forgive some many maintenance issues however.
Negative experience: My daughter bought me and my mum a Groupon voucher for Xmas. We went last week. 10 am till 2pm. We had to pay extra to hire dressing gowns and towels, when we got in there most of the lockers did not work. Also the steam room was out of order and also the shower was out of order next to the steam room! Which was quite disappointing. We then went on to have our coffee and cake where we were told that you have to pay extra if you want anymore than a normal coffee or tea. We then waited ages for it to be served to us. I don't think we will be going again
Negative experience: Half of the equipment not working! The four of us went for a spa day with coffee and pastries using Groupon. The staff were lovely but the facilities sadly lacking! The steam room, experience shower not working, only 1 heated lounger working. Lucky we didn't want to use a lounger as the few there were always in use! The pool was nice not busy, the Jacuzzi was small but nice and warm and the sauna was good. We went to a mindfulness class which was upstairs the room was to cold to really lie down and relax, and 30 mins of someone just saying keep breathing! Was a bit much as I know there is much more you can do with that class! We went for coffee and pastries luckily we were dressed as it was miles down corridors in main hotel, there wasn't enough almond milk to make cappuccino's so the staff made the decision to just Give us a pot of coffee without asking if we wanted a different milk, there weren't any of the proper pastries avaliable so we were given 6 mini pain o chocolate, she did apologise for this. On the whole we had s nice day because we had fun together but so utterly disappointed with the facilities will not go again and would not recommend!
Positive experience: An impressive old mansion with a modern part added on to it, boasting state of the art cosy rooms and tasty buffet meals and offering a range a treatments and standard spa facilities
Fantastic experience: This was a lovely experience. The massage treatment was very relaxing, then we enjoyed spending time in the spa area, where we had a swim, sauna, steam and Jacuzzi. The area is lovely and clean. We then went on to enjoy a divine afternoon tea in the old hall. It's a lovely setting and the food is delicious. I can't wait to go there again.
Positive experience: Lovely facility let down by a lack of draft real ale and average food.
Positive experience: After reading a lot of worrying reviews I can say that after having 2 treatments and accessing the spa facilities today please do not listen to the reviews. The staff were very attentive, yes there were a couple of hiccups but the staff service was excellent, the facilities are of what you would expect for the price and he treatments were very relaxing (facial and oil scrub). Please do not be put off by a lot of the negative comments. We paid through groupon and it was totally worth the money. If you want £200 worth of spa go to a £200 spa! Thank you to all the ladies and gents that made our spa day.
Negative experience: Visited the spa facility's today and was really disappointed, couldn't relax next to pool as to noisy, 2 kids messing about as there mother was swimming in pool, won't be going again that's for sure, will stick to alton towers spa
Fantastic experience: Just had a spa treatment there and used all the facilities included was lunch which was fab our overall day was fantastic and the staff were really friendly and helpful towels robes and slippers were given would highly recommend and go again.
Negative experience: Myself and my partner arrived for the 2-7pm slot to notice that there we no loungers available to relax in due to overcrowding of the spa. I did go to the reception at the spa and complained but the response was far from helpful with a 'we can’t help it attitude' We were also unable to use the Jacuzzi at all in the time we stayed leaving us to vacate and leave at around 4pm. Although I knew there was an extra cost think the fact that I had to pay £7 each for the robe and slipper hire was a little steep. I found the experience the most stressful and disappointing spa experience I have been to. Once dressed we went to the brasserie and were not greeted at all by the staff until we nearly turned around and left we then had to wait 20minutes for our pastries which then turned up over cooked and we did not eat them. I am writing this as an awareness of the disappointment Crewe Hall gave me that day and I feel it was a complete waste of mine and my partners time together (which we don't get much of)
Negative experience: Attended on a groupon offer, which included the use of the pool, sauna gym, jacuzzi, steam room and a coffee and pastry. Gowns and slippers were extra to hire - which we knew and were happy to do so. On arrival we were told there were no slippers or gowns. They would bring gowns to us when they arrived and we paid the £10 hire cost. There were no slippers at all. Having changed we stayed in the pool area waiting for our gowns - they never arrived. We were wet our towels were now wet and we were starting to feel a bit fed up. So we decided that we would go for our coffee and pastry. As we left the changing room wrapped in our towels I saw a laundry trolley full of robes. I asked if we could have 2 and was told you had to pay for them if you weren’t having a spa treatment - I advised that we had paid and that there were other ladies by the pool waiting for gowns. We then went to reception and were given our voucher for our coffee and asked directions to the brassiere. Having wondered bare foot through corridors it finally dawned on me that we were actually now in the main part of the hotel and that the brasserie was a resturant not just a coffee area off the spa. Had we not turned back we would have been in dressing gowns barefooted in the main restaurant. Returning to the spa we changed and left. So gown hire for 10 minutes had cost me £10. We were asked if we were having a nice time and we did say no and explained about the gowns etc. There was an apology and that they were having problems with the Laundry but no offer to reimburse for the gown hire. We won’t be returning or recommending. It was a very expensive swim.
