Information about Seymour Leisure Centre
Our comment from FitFit UK about Seymour Leisure Centre:
Welcome to Seymour Leisure Centre, a hub of activity in the heart of London. This community-focused facility offers a wide range of services including swimming, gym, badminton, and boxing, catering to all fitness enthusiasts. The centre features a spacious gym equipped with various machines, ensuring you have all you need to keep fit.
Many users appreciate the friendly and helpful staff, making the experience enjoyable. The swimming pool, while a bit dated, offers a giant space for relaxation and exercise, and swimming lessons for children are particularly well-reviewed.
While Seymour Leisure Centre is known for its affordability, with reasonable monthly rates averaging between £30 to £40, it is also facing some challenges. Users have highlighted the need for refurbishment and better maintenance of facilities, as some equipment is aging and there have been cleanliness concerns.
On the downside, several visitors mentioned experiences with poor customer service, especially regarding responsiveness and mixed professionalism of staff. Some find the changing rooms and pool area to be inadequately maintained.
In summary, Seymour Leisure Centre has the potential to provide a great sports experience with its community spirit and wide range of activities, but it requires attention to hygiene and upkeep to meet the expectations of its valued members.

Seymour Leisure Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Is it open now ?
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, facilities could do with a makeover but other than that the courts do exactly what they are supposed to.
Negative experience: Closing for refurbishment in Feb '24. Hopefully they'll clean whilst they're at it as hygiene is pretty foul. See image of bag of pond water that's been hanging off a drinking fountain for 6+ months. Staff variable - some friendly and professional, but have seen others videoing each other training topless in there whilst the bins are overflowing nearby.
Positive experience: It would be better if swimming pool water temperature was a bit higher. It sometimes get really cold.
Negative experience: The gym is well equipped but there is a burglar whom probably goes around all of the others Everyone Active gyms robbing people. He managed to cut the lock of my locker and steal my watch. I have gave the staff a description of the person who I am sure is the burglar but they said is not much they can do about. Is really really unsafe.
Negative experience: Run down facilities, you get what you pay for.
Positive experience: One of the best public sector Leisure Centre's in the heart of London. Sadly will close for refurbishment by Feb 2024. Monthly prices are reasonable at £30 to £40. That's a bargain for a temperature controlled indoor pool and a full fledged Gym.
Negative experience: Waiting too long to hold customer service I been waiting an hour to answer my call it’s not the first time almost all the time can’t be an excuse it been busy absolutely ridiculous customer service.
Positive experience: Another Westminster Everyone Active leisure centre and gym that could be a lot better if it could only get a bit more TLC. The gym is spread out over two floors and is spacious and grand. It rarely gets busy. Sadly it desperately needs more deep cleaning and better maintenance. The padding on many machines is torn and the floor bulgers dangerously in the first-floor gym. There are plenty of machines, although some of them are broken. Some seem to get fixed fairly quickly whilst others are out of use for weeks or months. The changing rooms are broadly clean and well maintained. My locker was recently broken into, all cash taken from my wallet and my cards were used fraudulently – the staff could not have cared less. There are plenty of showers and they work well, which isn’t a given in Everyone Active leisure centres. The opening times are convenient.
Fantastic experience: Nice swimming pool
Negative experience: Cancellation process online does not work, and whilst it says you have cancelled, this is not the case, and you have to email/chase. This has made the whole company feel very slimy and untrustworthy. Would not recommend.
Fantastic experience: Plenty of activities to choose from
Negative experience: Rubbish website
Fantastic experience: My children take swimming lessons here, but we always end up coming along too, and swimming as well. The teachers and workers are amazing, and the service is great. We especially love Noon, the girls' swimming teacher. She's so friendly and helpful towards us!
Fantastic experience: I enjoy swimming here every week. The staff are really friendly, and the changing rooms are always clean! Bring a one pound coin for the lockers!
Fantastic experience: The swimming pool is from the 1920s with a marble basin. 4 30 m lanes. Changing rooms and showers are up to date. Helpful staff. Remember to bring along a pound coin or a padlock for the lockers.
Negative experience: APPALING scheduling service. Booked a badminton court over the phone for 1 hour, but they DID NOT MENTION that we potentially have to share the court (1 court) with other people! And they only got two courts: one of the court is unplayable in the afternoon because of the sunlight overhead (no shielding at some area) Registering an account also is a pain through the website. Plus they DON'T HAVE REFUNDS, only say they'll "put a note in my account" so I can book another one free of charge. Don't think there's an "another time" for me since registering for account since the website hasn't gone through registering one for me.
Fantastic experience: Pretty good and lots of space and sports to be practiced, but in the gym there's lack of some equipment. Still very good value for money
Negative experience: the worst most unprofessional experience I’ve ever had to deal with Both my children attended a swimming lesson, I was shocked to see 10 children with one teacher who was constantly screaming at the children Second time I went, my DISABLED CHILD was made to stand outside of the swimming pool as his name was ‘not on the list’ She embarrassed him infront of his class and said you can’t enter because your names not on the list and refused to let him inside the pool. I contacted the receptionist who we’re useless, I requested a refund and wanted to cancel the lesson as my child said he never wants to go back there. shortly after I was CHARGED TWICE AGAIN Every time I phone im told there’s no manager to speak to make an enquiry online. I’ve made enquiries online and have NOT RECEIVED ANY REFUND. Every time I call I’m told they’ll pass the message on but nothing is ever done. It’s been almost two weeks now and no update. No refund. Just taking money out of my account over and over again. I will be reporting this and taking this further as mt disabled son was discriminated and I have video evidence of how rude the staff were towards us. Maybe because we’re Muslim and not white but not too sure. I will take this further as I’m very frustrated that I haven’t received any help and any refund.
Negative experience: Seymour leisure centre toilets always too much dirty,,,,
Fantastic experience: Great community faculty. Friendly helpful staff. Giant - but a bit tired - swimming pool but when it’s so huge and great value for money I am so happy to be a member
Positive experience: Squash court is a health hazard But it has chairs and you can't beat chairs
Negative experience: Womens only sauna/steam room session isn't womens only but also open to men despite complaining previously about this. Also floors are very filthy
Fantastic experience: I'm looking forward to using their sauna and pool.
Fantastic experience: Great place to visit
Fantastic experience: This place has quite frankly saved my life. Literally. I have struggled for some time and really wanted to join a gym without feeling suffocated or anxious.. and I am so glad I was recommended this gym. The fitness classes, the trainers, the members.. everyone is soo polite and welcoming. Facilities are cleaned thoroughly and regularly and you have everything under one roof... Swimming, boxing, tennis, badminton, fitness classes and gym space. Honestly a great community space. Thank you Westminster. Tip, if you don't do well with crowded spaces, always ask other members if it's busy in the gym so you can plan ahead what time to go. I've found mornings and afternoons are not so busy and are female friendly. The PT team are amazing too! George, Charlie, Kristina.. have been so helpful.
Positive experience: why can t the gym be non stop
Negative experience: Not a happy bunny! Booked for one hour only (11am), a “Womens Only Spa”, paid £5.52 and expected to visit (as described, ad verbatim): A day spa provides a variety of services for the purpose of improving health, beauty and relaxation through personal care treatment. It is different to a beauty salon as it will contain facilities such as a sauna, pool, steam room and a jacuzzi”. As my friend couldn’t come,I tried to cancel or change to another day/time. No! Nothing can be changed… oh well, I’ll go on my own anyway. There’s a sauna, but it’s at a fixed temperature, as there’s no option to add water to increase the heat. There’s a steam room. And when I looked for “variety of services”, there were none. No pool, no jacuzzi… not only there’s no access to cold water for after sauna, but the showers temp is hot! Very poor facilities all round. I wasn’t expecting a robe, slippers and towels, but did expect what I paid for. Finally, can’t lock your property as lockers are lockable, but can’t take the key out! Value for money? Absolutely not.
Fantastic experience: Very reasonably priced for central London. Good range of classes. Nice people.
Fantastic experience: The gym was well equipped
Negative experience: Extremely unpleasant staff on the ground and outdated facilities. Both my husband and I have annual membership( all included) and we find ourselves regularly accosted by discourteous staff on the ground. We only use the swimming pool which is 3 lanes out of 4 at all times almost exclusively reserved for private swimming lessons. The entire experience is very stressful and not worth the effort and membership fee.
Fantastic experience: Pool is great, and changing rooms/showers clean and nice!
Negative experience: I love this place and the vibe but unfortunately I had to cancel my membership when a new gym opened just 10 minutes away for the same price. Seymour gym needs to upgrade their equipment, it's old and it's starting to fall apart. If they upgrade the equipment, I would be back in a heartbeat.
Fantastic experience: One of the most complete leisure centers in London in an stellar location.
Negative experience: Basketball court is uneven and constantly dirty, especially after badminton. One of the rims is not straight. Nets are destroyed and not replaced. Plastic panels behind the baskets have some iron pieces sticking out. Very unsafe. Seems there is no maintenance and no reinvestment in the sports hall.
Negative experience: Grim. Paint peeling off ceilings, unidentified particles floating in the warm water, mixed in with a strong whiff of toilet. This place really needs some investment or at least a deep clean . The pool itself is quite small and certainly too small for the large numbers of kids playing 'throw the ball at people's head game' in the shallow end. I will stick to the Porchester Centre in future.
Fantastic experience: I love this gym, it is cheap and it has everything! The staff is lovely, always available to help you out and I made some cool friends too.
Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming here for an year now and to be very honest I love it! In terms of ambiance is fantastic, I see quiet a few regular faces at the time that I visit and the team is friendly and very supportive (they had to cut my locker twice due to me loosing the key during training) in terms of equipment is very well equipped and in great conditions.
Negative experience: The spa was disgusting. Absolutely shameful ! The walls were dirty, infested with flies, mould from ceiling to walls, rust in the toilet, smells of damp, lockers were dirty, gritty and rusty inside, some lockers were broken, rubbish all over the place etc I took photos to show the staff. It was horrendous !!! The steam room was broken and therefore within 10 seconds you couldn’t breathe and nobody could remain in it, the sauna was also broken and way too hot causing burning sensations…nothing was functioning and for the amount of money we pay it should receive a full refurbishment or at the very least a proper clean up. We shall never return and all the ladies downstairs that we met shared the same sentiment - ridiculously disgusting ! Sort the place out !! Many of us pay £50 membership a month and for what ? This places is making a mockery of its clientele.
Negative experience: Don't EVER go to the Spa there. Absolutely disgusting. Dirt everywhere from floor to ceiling. It smells horrific, there's mould all over the place. The steam room was broken you couldn't even walk in there. Locker doors ripped off random clothes lying around everywhere. This place needs to be shut and refurbished. It's a serious health hazard.
Negative experience: My boyfriend’s water bottle was stolen while swimming. Rather than doing anything to help, the man at the reception simply said ‘oh yeah someone did randomly ask me if someone had the same water bottle but I wasn’t sure so she took it’ but refused to contact her, the security team, or access the CCTV footage. Useless.
Negative experience: Had my water bottle stolen from end of the swimming pool. I asked the reception if anyone handed one in and they said no, asked if they can contact the only woman it could’ve possibly been - they said no; asked if they can check CCTV - they said no. Gyms are incredibly unsafe and vulnerable to theft (particularly when staff do not care)
Fantastic experience: Everything that u need in the gym
Positive experience: Functional but a bit outdated. Caution, the front desk has a no racket loaning policy, although sometimes they do loan them out. Hope you go on a day the front desk person loans them out
Fantastic experience: Very good service from Aytul who gave us a tour of the centre when we first came to view it and shes is so positive and helpful! Thank you Aytul! I recommend this centre for the gym and they have lots of activities including rock climbing
Positive experience: I am surprised their changing room is much bigger, newer and cleaner than Fotness First. Good on them. Love Aqua Arrobic class. Spacious and many types of sport to attend. I love it.
Negative experience: 95% the entrances of this place are blocked as fire exits
Positive experience: صالة الحديد صغيره بس الحلو انها مومزدحمه
Positive experience: Good place for multi sport. Swim, danse , boxe, tennis, basketball, badminton …
Negative experience: For some reason there is a 16 year old girl at the front desk serving people, is that even legal? Staff are utterly incompetent ( that’s me putting it nicely ). Was over charged £15 and no apologies or refund offered and just an extra session tagged on which when I went back it wasn’t on my account. Facilities aren’t the worst but due to the staff I won’t be going back or be giving them a penny more.
Negative experience: This place does not provide equipment for activities such as badminton, emailed the centre to ensure they provided equipment, weeks later and no one responded. No information regarding this on the website. Waste of money
Negative experience: We really enjoy the tennis for children there but I really don't like passing the reception since the dark haired lady is there. She's unable of multitasking ( can't open the gate for us to exit while talking to other people). When you ask her politely to open to gate, she doesn't open and starts and argument. This didn't happen only once...
Positive experience: Played basketball. Good baskets but the court floor is damaged in various places and the ball won't bounce properly...it's been this for years and they have not fixed it. Showers are ok, pretty clean.
Fantastic experience: Great view and Lovely structures...
Positive experience: I used to train here for years and I loved it. The only reason why I give 4* only instead of 5* is because there could have been more machines for back, biceps, or a couple of other resistance machines too. If I were them, I would separate the two gyms in a different way so the customers shouldn’t go up and down for using what they want under a session. I played badminton there too many times and squash too. Squash court is dirty and it should be renovated. I love the vibe that this building has.
Positive experience: Nice place for climbing. I did bouldering
Fantastic experience: Marvellous
Positive experience: I frequently play squash here because is almost always available, it is only £12.45 per booking, and to close to my flat. The squash court is not clean and lacks maintenance
Negative experience: If I could give 0 stars I would worst place unprofessional people customers service shambles don’t go there.
Positive experience: Booked child in for Fit For Sports camp and on arrival I was very disappointed. The children were in an old conference room at the top of the stairs which needs serious updating with dingy carpet which had seen better days. Child had a good day but prefer other FFS venues.
Fantastic experience: Good set of equipment and medium sized swimming pool
Positive experience: Great to be back doing pilates here. Nice instructors
Negative experience: Gym forces you to leave the gym every 50 minutes so they can do 10 mins of cleaning that preety much does nothing and isn't evidenced to make any impact on COVID - especially considering most people wear gym gloves. Kills the mood, and your workout mid-way; their response is that the council told us to do it. So why are you enforcing it? They've been doing this the last 4-6 months. They will probably stop enforcing it now, but likely when there's another lockdown in autumn they will most likely re-inforce it. Gym is also filled with TV's every two metres, playing BBC news, you'd think you were in a television station's studio as opposed to a gym. Get rid of the TV's. Lights are extremlely bright, and the music they play is awful. I'd recommend saving yourself the £360 each year and investing it elsewhere. The gym before it got taken over by everyone active was really good though; and although I rated it one star, it's still got at least something goings for it. Good location, good sauna (when it's not closed), and some quality gym equipment. Staff aren't the worst either.
Positive experience: They are very dumb
Negative experience: Rude staff enforcing idiotic policies making people wait when gym capacity is 85% free. Would not recommend
Negative experience: The pool is extremely dirty and unhygienic, staff are very complacent and do not fully care about customers or the facilities at the centre. PLEASE REPLACE AND CLEAN THE POOL DAILY The tiling of the swimming pool is also extremely old and dirty and NEEDS TO BE REFURBISHED ASAP
Positive experience: Love the fact that this place is close to a tube station (Edgware Road on Hammersmith and City Line). Place look and feel clean which is always a plus for any Leisure Centres.
Positive experience: Great team of front desk!!!!!!! Thank you so much for being so professional. Great coaches always willing to help, good quality gym, clean!!!!!!!!!Thank you for the team work. But the WIFI is a nightmare. No signal. If you want your own music ...not possible
Fantastic experience: Great gym for what you’re paying I think it’s phenomenal couldn’t have asked for anything more got literally every equipment needed clean and tidy the staff are great wilid and silvia forgive me if I’ve spelled their names wrong they were very welcoming and friendly provided me with all the information if you’re local and need a gym and other fitness facilities this place is a no brainier other gyms around the area are charging some dumb prices but this place is gem can’t stress that enough HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
Positive experience: Pool was relatively clean, the cleaner was very friendly. The covid system of not using the changing rooms before swimming doesn't work well
Fantastic experience: Great space with a pool, court and 2 floors of gym equipment.
Negative experience: I signed up 2 months ago because it was around my place of work so easy to go after work, except that with the covid they have changed the opening hours (12h to 20h) so impossible for me to to use the gym anymore. So i am paying a monthly gym for free. You can't use the lockers because when you come back your padlock is broken as they let people who are not members get in to use the toilets ... When you write to the manager of the centre he is not even answering you so not professional at all. Some of the staff are very rude. Avoid this place as its plenty of gym with better price and better machines who works properly !
Negative experience: Can only speak of the gym and not the other facilities. Gym space is large and reasonably well looked after. A lot of the equipment is aging and pretty rough. It could do with new benches (the fabric is ripped and too cushioned), new machines (often need repairing and broken), but great for free weights, barbell weights etc. As of this review new time restrictions have been placed meaning the gym will open midday to 8pm Mon-Fri. This makes the service pretty poor everything considered (I am someone who goes before work). It's a publically funded service by the council (so should be minimally swayed by a reduction in centre users and on top of that visitors have been increasing week on week) and on top of that their response to concerns of covid is to bottle everyone into an increasingly tight time spot??? The greatest appeal of this gym was its convenience which I'm not so sure of now.
Fantastic experience: An Everyone Active gym. Good pool and gym facilities, classes rec. Covid secure. Friendly staff. Book sessions via the App.
Positive experience: Nice place, gym + pool Maybe we just need an assisted pull up machine..
Fantastic experience: Always a pleasure!!
Fantastic experience: Nice safe environment
Fantastic experience: Surprisingly good, taking into account the limitations and one way system. The pool was empty and really took my time to get back into it. All precautions taken, would definitely recommend.
Fantastic experience: Good value
Fantastic experience: A big THANK YOU to the Operations Manager Reiss for handling and resolving the incident which occurred in the spa. It was an extremely tense and difficult situation which was dealt with in the most professional manner and very efficiently. Thank you for taking it seriously and for all of your effort as well as assurance. Also thank you to the General Manager. I can only give a 5* star review as, even though it’s a government-owned gym which is slightly different to more expensive, private gyms, it is very well run with great management.
Fantastic experience: Amazing Staff and community around you
Fantastic experience: Very good swimming lessons for children. Coaches are great at developing flotation skills which is essential. Coach Leo and Ali are exceptional and I would highly recommend enrolling kids into their lessons for parents seeking to develop their children. My kids have been going for 1.5 years and I can say hands down they have developed into confident little sharks in the pool also noticed that they fall ill less than they used to prior to swimming which can only mean their immune systems have strengthened. Happy parents all round.
Negative experience: I'm only giving one star because they've been having a heating problem for over a month now because of which the changing rooms are FREEZING COLD! It's unacceptable to have this problem in the winter and let it last that long! Especially if you want to swim, you have to get out of the pool and go into a freezing cold changing room. Completely unacceptable!
Negative experience: Old style local authority centre that time left behind. It does get very busy and staff are thin on the ground. Would not recommend as there are a lot nicer gyms locally for the price
Fantastic experience: مركز للتدريب يستضيف منتسبي مؤسسات وهيآت حكومية من دول عدة
Fantastic experience: Looked to sign up and was assisted by Raj. He showed me round, explained all of the facilities and cost break downs. Very professional, friendly and helpful. Now a proud member!
Negative experience: If you are member there, you should be very careful as the staff allows people from the street to use the place and of course they will have access to the lockers room This people which is the staff have no details at all about them very easily can break the lockers and take your belongings Reception staff should not allow anybody to access the pool and the gym before they register them which is not happening in this place After you lose your wallet and phones and you report it to the receptionist they will agree with you that some peoples at the lockers room looks suspicious ( so why you let them in from the first place? This question is for the reception) They will tell you the manager will contact you, and no one will Please avoid this place
Negative experience: Very rood customer service also must of the staff are rood not all of them for sure but must of them they think that they are in different level they don't treat the customers = Very bad it wasn't like this 20 years ago shame
Fantastic experience: Excellent leisure centre....A very wide range of activities, Classes & an excellent gym. Great showers with good pressure unlike there other centre at the Porchester.Very professinally managed clean and a friendly team. A credit to Everyone active..Maybe the porchester centre should come here for staff training.
Negative experience: The dirtiest swimming pool I ever been. Outrageous. Should be shut down. Completely illegal.
Fantastic experience: Great classes
Fantastic experience: I go to this place and which a lot of pepole and it's the best
Positive experience: The swimming pool is great. The water is kind of warm and it is not busy. Parking nearby is very difficult so you need to get there by public transport. The reception staff are AWFUL, they are slow and inconsiderate. They take phone calls whilst serving. I was served by the manager - André Mountbatten and he was simply unprofessional. I wish they had more professional and considerate reception staff, then the centre can get a 5 star.
Negative experience: Swimming pool extremely dirty To be avoided
Positive experience: Very good staff Jonathan Approved
Negative experience: Avoid if you can. The front of the house staff is rude and inconsiderate. They are plsin rude and don't really care about anything. Their manière of speaking to customers is appealing. PHONE ring switched on. I tried to call about a lost item. And nnoje was picking up for an hour. The next time I was in I called again standing in front of them in the reception area and the ring doesn't make sound and no-one picks up
Negative experience: Good swimming pool but unfortunately very rude life guard especially with children.some of the lifeguards are beheave very rude with children and with parents. I come this swimming bcoz it near my house other wise I don’t want to face these rude life guard.
Negative experience: DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE KIDS ! Took my son to the soft play area which to start with is old and dirty ! Literally looks like never ever cleaned and stinks ! Apart from this how stupid do you have to be as an establishment to have open radiators in and around the play area ! My son hit his head and by the time we went home a massive bump ! Absolutely horrible !
Negative experience: As per usual they management show a total lack of respect for their customers by failing to put a notice on their website about Christmas opening hours. I swim 2 -3 times /week and always in the last couple of hours. Last year at this time I was constantly turning up to a closed facility. This time I phoned up to get the hours. This is on top of the pool changing rooms smell, are not clean, constantly forget to turn on the ventilation so it is extremely hot and humid in the changing room as well as contributing to the smell. The only reason it gets 2 stars are that it is cheap and not crowded
Fantastic experience: Just joined the serpentine jogging club. We meet at Seymour leisure.
