Our comment from FitFit UK about Bannatyne Health Club And Spa:

Bannatyne Health Club and Spa in Solihull offers a range of fitness and wellness facilities, providing a wonderfully relaxing environment for guests looking to unwind. Many visitors commend the warm and friendly atmosphere created by the welcoming reception staff. The centre features a great pool, well-maintained gym equipment, and clean changing areas, making it appealing for fitness enthusiasts. The massages and spa treatments, particularly those performed by skilled therapists like Keeran and Maureen, receive high praise for their relaxing effects.

However, some guests have expressed disappointment regarding certain aspects of their experience. Feedback indicates that the facility can feel more like a fitness centre than a traditional spa. With classes often occupying the pool, and limited relaxation areas that can become crowded, many customers have found it challenging to enjoy a peaceful spa day. Additionally, the need to rent towels and robes for a fee has also been criticized.

Despite these drawbacks, many users highlight the overall cleanliness of the centre and the variety of gym classes available. Regulars appreciate the engaging community within the gym, making it a good choice for those seeking both workout opportunities and a social atmosphere. For first-time visitors, it's recommended to check the facilities and services before booking to ensure your expectations align with the offerings. Bannatyne Health Club and Spa could serve as a solid option for those who value a friendly environment and quality treatments.

Positive experience: Went to have a tour. A really lovely atmosphere, not at all intimidating with all the gym bunnies. Good parking, great pool, changing area and gym. Definitely worth a visit.

Negative experience: I booked this for my Dad and His partner as a relaxing spa day. They couldn’t use the pool there was exercise classes on, there wasn’t any relaxing rooms to sit the sauna and steam room was full it wasn’t really a spa it was more gym fitness centre with a spa upstairs. So huge disappointment. The meal for two was a jacket potato or soup so we went for jacket with cheese and bean, they had to pay for cheese and honestly there wasn’t even a spoonful cheese. Even though I’d paid for them. Absolutely disgusting! Super disappointing when I’d brought this as a gift for them both.

Negative experience: I've been to many bannatynes spa days over the last 17 years in different locations and unfortunately this is the worst one for many reasons, and it ruin our birthday celebrations. The lady who greeted us on reception was really welcoming and helpful explaining how the day would work. It was annoying we had to pay £40 on arrival for towels and robes, we were aware of this but the towel was more like a hand towel and not enough to dry us after the pool. The changing rooms didn't have many working lockers but we shared. We got to the pool and there was an aqua class on, which is fine but wasn't the ambience we invisigned, there were loungers around the pool but not enough room and we had to sit opposite each other, as none of the loungers could be next to each other, meaning we couldn't relax and have a conversation without shouting to each other. The jacuzzi sauna and steam room were great. We were greeted for our treatments at 11am and taken upstairs, our treatments were fantastic and the therapists made the day, however we were dressed and out of the room by 11:36 and it was meant to be a 30 minute treatment. We were sent to the relaxation room which was cold, and there were no cupa for the water. We decided to go for our afternoon tea which was a pre packaged scone warmed up, and soggy inside - was more like a pancake so we didn't eat it. We were going to spend the day here but only spent 2 hours as it just didn't feel relaxing at all. Such a shame they seem to be trying to make it a spa but it is definitely more a fitness centre.

Fantastic experience: Booked a spa day with my girlfriend for our 3 year anniversary and it was fantastic, the ladies at reception were welcoming and the massage was very relaxing and left us both feeling renewed! We got to use the rest of the facilities which were in great shape, the changing rooms are nice and clean, the pool was good and separated into 3 lanes. The jacuzzi was sensational especially after the massage and further helped melt your aches and pains away. The steam and sauna room were also great but very popular and busy. After we had finished our spa day I decided to look at the reviews and was shocked to see it so low though after reading some of the reviews I understood the problem was not with the place but the people that booked the spa days don’t know how to read about the OPTIONAL towel, gown, bag and flip flops, it clearly states when booking that you can bring your own kit as you’d expect and if you wanted you could pay for their kit, for some reason most of the bad reviews are based on the fact people didn’t read or didn’t bring their own stuff and of course they’re going to try and get you to buy theirs, it’s called upselling and is standard across all businesses.

Negative experience: Booked a spa day with afternoon tea and treatment to de-stress. On arrival we are told we need to pay for towels and robes. The sauna and steam room were acceptable, the jacuzzi made my skin itch. Then the massage, it was one of the worst I have ever had, not relaxing or holistic. My husband has a facial and his skin flared up after. The afternoon tea was a basic scone and drink. Overall not a great experience.

Negative experience: After going today, it’s clear to see that they don’t want people coming again. We arrived for our so called 'spa day' (9/12/24) and were sent straight up for our massage. The ladies who did our massage were not particularly polite and seemed rushed to get the job done. Not a minute over 15 mins long. Massage was nice but not anything spectacular. The staff were very misleading with the so called 'deposit' for the bags/towels/gowns. You have to pay £10 deposit for the gowns and the towels (which is fair enough), BUT on top of that, you pay a further £10 for the branded bag for life it comes in! Which you do not get back! Even if you give the bag back, you still don’t get your money back. This is absolutely foreign to me. I cannot believe I was made to pay £10 for a vile bag and a cheap pair of flip flops I could have got from Primark for 99p. This was a very intentional tactic that staff played, just to get your money. If it wasn’t for the massage this would’ve been a complete waste of a day. It is not a “spa”, it is a glorified leisure centre with nowhere to sit next to the lane racing pool. Sauna is tiny and cramped. So it the steam room. The floor near the pool is filthy and I did not want to walk round bare foot. Hot tub is also dirty. As for the afternoon tea, you get one dry scone and a packet of cream/jam. Don’t come, book a different one.

Negative experience: After going today, it’s clear to see that they don’t want people coming again. Judging by some of these automated replies given by whoever replies to these reviews, they don’t care about resolving your issues. The staff were polite but very misleading with the bags. You have to pay £10 deposit for the gowns and the towels (which is fair enough), BUT on top of that, you pay a further £10 for the branded bag for life it comes in! Which you do not get back! It is not a “spa” it is a glorified leisure centre with nowhere to sit next to the lane racing pool they have in there. I bought this for my sister and gf, all 3 of us let out of pocket and unhappy, which clearly isn’t an issue for this place. Don’t come, book a different one.

Negative experience: Booked a ‘spa day’ in the worst possible place ever. Towel and robe were chargeable, which I’ve never experienced in a spa before, usually complimentary. The pool was occupied by a 45minute yoga class, ran by a rude instructor who told me I can’t use that part of the pool while her class is on (I was stood in the corner of the pool looking away from the class), instead I was told to use the ‘fast swim lane’, I was there to relax, not swim fast in a tiny lane which was too full already! So I had to sit on one of the loungers that had been shoved up the corner of the awful public pool, no phone/tablet to do any reading as this was against the rules, and the jacuzzi was out of order so that wasn’t an option either. The treatment was perfect can’t fault the therapist, but the relaxation room that you can sit in after was like a bright, hot, office space with a lounger in there, nothing relaxing about it. Overall awful spa day

Louise Harper 11 months ago

Negative experience: Had a spa day given to myself and husband as a present. Booked well in advance and booked treatments. Arrived at the spa, was told we had to pay for the hire of towels and were advised to sit in the cafe for a therapist to collect us. Therapist (who was friendly) came and collected us eventually and took us to the treatment rooms. Straight away we were advised that hubby couldn’t have a back massage as he had had surgery 6 months prior. Would have been better to have been advised before as this was all my husband really wanted and we could have delayed the day another month. Facials were ok, but felt rushed. We were out within 35 minutes and I think the treatments were supposed to be 50minutes. Wouldn’t buy myself this spa day.

Positive experience: Lovely, relaxing day booked through Groupon. Free parking directly outside the building. Staff friendly and helpful on arrival. I took my own flipflops and towel as I read the terms and conditions before booking. Alot of the bad reviews seem to be because of this and I'm assuming it depends individually on the package you book. Always double check before paying. The regulars were welcoming at the class I attended and plenty of space in the gym to use everything I wanted. Food absolutely top class and although Coffee machine was being fixed, I was offered filter or instant instead. Pool was split into lanes. Nice jacuzzi plus steam and sauna rooms. Massage with Maureen was fab.

Fantastic experience: There is a good vibe among the members, with many sapient seniors who have wisdom to impart, unlike the pompous David Lloyds. The facilities are decent, although it sometimes takes longer than I would like for things to be fixed. However, they usually get resolved in the end. The facilities are good, but I don't see many families with kids there-they are not the most family-oriented; they could benefit from a play area or a room for video games, etc., while parents enjoy their coffee. Nonetheless, this doesn't bother me and fits the bill for what I need so 5* from me. Can understand 4* too, but tis hard to understand anyone who gives below 3*.

Positive experience: The one in Brindley place is alright for working out, but spa wise too small and too dirty…

Michael 1 year ago

Negative experience: I wish we had read some of the reviews before coming here. This is not a spa you relax in....we'll it's not really a spa. The swimming pool was basically divided in half, with two lanes marked out lengh swimmers, and the other half had swimmers following the edge of the marked out area!!! So, no just getting in the pool for a gentle swim it was more like a race, so don't hold anyone back, we'd taken books so we could relax poolside....no not a chance, there was no space for too many people. We also had treatments booked, when asked where we went, the receptionist pointed across the crowded cafe and said "just sit over there on the sofa." We stripped to our swim ware, used the gowns and flip flops provided, found our way across the cafe to the sofa, I think we were both still in shock, we both said "shall we go". We'd been there half an hour at the most, we returned our towels and gowns and were not even asked why we were leaving by the receptionist who checked us in....so no, not a spa, not even a good swimming pool, very disappointed.

Negative experience: Wrong information given at reception so i’ve lost money. The scone we got as part of our package was dry. It’s just a swimming pool with one sauna and steam room (which are constantly full) massage was painful, no calming music just silence and it was still light in the room. Tried to order food but they’d ran out of what we wanted. Honestly it’s the worst spa i've ever been to.

Negative experience: Not so great service at the reception. Information and clarification of appointments where misscommunicated. 2 cancellation of massage appointment on the actual day. No refund when requested. Missed an appointment and refused to reschedule even though they have missed 2 in previous time. Not so great management of booking. Will not be going again or refering anyone

Josh Rees 1 year ago

Negative experience: Booked through Wowcher for myself and my girlfriend. Received a phone call from Bannatyne receptionist asking if we could change our appointment time from 10:30 to 11:00. We accepted. I was running late and we was informed that if we are 10 minutes late then our treatments would be cancelled. Arrived at 11:08 and we was stood waiting for 10 minutes which made it 11:18 .. some old women said really rude and insulting. Stated no way would we be able to have our treatments with it being 20 minutes after the allocated time slot. I stated that we were stood waiting for 10 minutes, she tutted and huffed. The young girl was pleasant and stated we could still use the facilities such as the sauna, hot tub etc. This was for my girlfriend’s birthday so I have asked if we could pay for another treatment and they said there were no more appointments. Yeah.. thanks for nothing, red flag when you walk in and there’s a sign on the desk saying “NO ABUSE TOLERATED” , shock, change your staff. Not recommended !

Positive experience: Smooth and relaxing experience. I booked our treatments through a website and got a great discount! The treatments were effectively relaxing, Maurine (I hope I got the name right and spelled this correctly) was amazing and I believe all the staff was really polite, friendly, available, and helpful. The place is nicely kept and clean, although the spaces (Pool Area, Jacuzzi, Sauna and Steam Room) are not very spacious but still satisfying and there are recommendations there for people to respect everyone's right to use these which is really good. I did not try the gym nor the classes but there also these spaces which can be accessed both on a Treatments Spa Day or with a Membership Thank you and see you soon!!

Positive experience: I love spa days. I treated my friend as she was visiting the UK from South Africa. The Swedish back neck and head massage was great. Plus a facial. Fantastic. But I was quite upset with the way my booking was handled via WhatsApp. It covered 2-3 days. What a performance it has put me off using Virgin Experience Days again.

Negative experience: The worst company/gym by far. Failed to tell me and my partner there was no cooling off period before signing up. Luckily I did mine online and had 2 weeks, my partner signed up in store and there are 0 days cooling off period so he is stuck in a years contract costing £52.99 a months which is absolutely diabolical when we are in a living crises and my partner is unable to go to the gym due to a knee injury… AND WORK so no pay and when he gets better doesn’t want to attend due to how busy it is constantly. Maybe a trial should be incorporated, however then you won’t be able to steal peoples money!

Ellie Kirkham 1 year ago

Negative experience: I chose Solihull Bannatyne spa for a Groupon voucher I was bought for Christmas as it was the closest spa that offered the package. It was overall pretty average and I have been to much nicer Bannatyne spa’s. This was basically a gym and an exercise pool with a small jacuzzi and an upstairs area for treatment rooms. The pool was unavailable to use for spa guests for most of the day due to aqua fit classes, and then members using it for lane swimming. Definitely couldn’t use it for a relaxing float if you wanted. My 40 minute treatment was only 25 minutes and my included lunch (option of jacket potato with one topping or avocado on toast with poached eggs) was probably the worst avocado on toast I’ve ever had. You don’t even get a free towel to use by the pool, it’s only included if you spend £10 on the spa bag. Wildmoor Bannatyne spa at least included a towel. The staff were all nice and friendly, but I would not recommend this Bannatyne location for its spa services. Use your groupon vouchers at a different Bannatyne spa!

Negative experience: ⛔️DONT BOTHER BOOKING THIS PLACE⛔️ Shocking, not a spa in any sense of the word. one small Lane- pool with classes in-between members swimming lengths. no where to swim for relaxation and chat. no where for you to relax pool side. i later find out that there is apparently a relaxation room however we wasn't informed of this on check in just like we were never told about locker system. You are not allowed to even take a kindle to read whilst you relax or have drinks where you sit if you do manage to get a seat in the four chairs that were on offer. i reached out to reception who refunded our robe hire and we were told to contact buy a gift in reguards to booking, who are now denying this and are refusing to release voucher back to buy a gift so it can be booked elsewhere. James on reception is clueless and rude. we were told wrong information from the get go, with me now at the cost of it, even on check in, he didn't give us all the information, didn't give us information on locker system leaving us roaming about in our swim wear until he gave us the band we should have had on check in. he Agreed with us that it isn't a spa it's a health club and goes on to say he cant comment too much as it's his job and that I needed to take up with buy a gift and is now denying this. When I've reach out to him he has put the phone down mid conversation and as a branch are refusing to deal with how we have been treated and that it needs to go through head office. £84 down the drain, no treatment had, no facilities used, just checked in and couldn't get close to anything to be able to even start our "spa" experience. I was advised by James to contact buy a gift who would be willing for us to rebook however bannytyne Solihull are refusing to release voucher, and handle situation by talking over you and putting the phone down rather than resolving the issue. management not on site to speak to, and spa manager is supposed to be calling back yet haven't had a call. My advice is to avoid with all costs unless you want clueless staff and a leisure centre experience. I can't comment on treatment as we had a 6 hour wait and were advised to contact buy a gift in reguards to our booking, so we never had our treatment which I presume would have been lovely, but under good authority from James at reception and after receiving a refund from him on our robes lead me to believe that this had been cancelled and we were able to rebook something more suitable. If I were to have been told that we would have lost the voucher by leaving then my friend and i would have returned to at least have our treatment, and just not stayed in leisure centre. However when you're refunded your robe hire and told that's everything is done their end and to contact buy a gift then I was under the impression that they would release the voucher back to buy a gift. buy a gift would be happy to reissue this if bannytyne would release their end, which they as a branch are now refusing, along side providing rude customer service. Avoid! this place at all costs!

Negative experience: The attendant in the spa are worst people on planet, they were rude and unkind. We stopped to charge our ev and it was early morning when my pregnant gf wanted to use a restroom and when spa opened about 7:30 in morning we went in to ask if she could use a restroom and lad behind the counter inconsiderately shooed us away saying we are not legally allowed till 8? Is this how people are treated at wellness centres which speaks alot about their values?? I was heart wrenching to see how asian immigrants are treated with such hostility.

Jon Preece 1 year ago

Negative experience: Would not recommend this place if you wanted a relaxing spa day.. it’s more of a leisure centre, we had our treatments which couldn’t fault the girl did a great massage however when you go into the pool area there was a water aerobics class of 30 in there so we couldn’t enter for the hour..so we tried the jacuzzi but there was 4 people inside already and that’s all that fitted as it’s only a small one… then after the class finished there was private swimming lessons taken place after. The loungers are just plonked on the side they don’t even fit forward facing the pool.. we just had our lunch as it was included in the price and left as we just wasn’t enjoying it what so ever. Shame as it was a birthday gift and suppose to be a lovely day. Wouldn’t waste your money

Christine Harrington 1 year ago

Positive experience: After reading some reviews about the spa day I was somewhat worried but I preferred this Bannatyne's over the City Centre Spa. The staff were all lovely and the staff working in the cafe were very attentive and couldn't do enough for us. The therapists who did our treatments were very professional and Amy gave me the best facial I've ever had from any Spa. I'm really looking forward to going back.

Negative experience: Very bad spa. Very public facilities that goes against the idea of a spa - for example people who have access to the gym inside the building or even those who are coming for a swim can also use the hot tub, steam room and sauna making it impossible to actually use these ‘luxurious’ facilities which I thought was really unfair when you’re trying to have a spa day. Not luxurious at all. Pool is small and portioned into 3 vertical sections making it even more restricting to use. Bad customer service on the desk and a bad spa day overall. Not what a spa should be, it is more a communal public leisure centre with treatments available. Also the cafe does not always have all food available on the menu and on the day I was there the cafe tables were not even clean. Will not be returning. One positive note - a shoutout to a very lovely lady called Zara who did a very lovely facial and she actually made our day a bit better just before we left as we were really disappointed so thank you Zara.

Negative experience: Worse spa day ever… It’s a lovely gym leisure centre… but I don’t think they should advertise themselves as a “spa day” Nice little coffee shop/ food area, but it’s freezing cold and very open so felt very awkward sat in a robe in the coffee area. Big swimming pool, but it’s not a “spa” pool… a normal gym swimming pool with slow/ fast swim lanes. Couple of chairs around the pool, but pushed into corners. It’s not a relaxing area, very loud from the swimmers. Got told off by a staff member for using my phone to read… as my phone is glass.(overheard a lady being told same thing whilst using her tablet) so don’t go thinking your allowed to sit and relax. Not even allowed drinks by the pool to sit and relax with, as again glass. Iv never been to a spa day where your not allowed a drink by the pool, or sit on your phone/ tablet etc Very small jacuzzi that once 3-4 people using, it’s very cramped… and it was always full, so didn’t get chance to use unfortunately. Got to pay for a robe and towel hire… but don’t worry you get to keep the flip flops… so you get to keep something for your £10 Treatments were nice. The therapist didn’t introduce herself, so don’t know her name, but her treatments were okay. Don’t get offered to smell the oils and choose your oils/ creams like every other spa day iv been too. No discussion afterwards to talk about the products used etc Relaxation room afterwards is very cold, and bright, so not relaxing- and the music is very loud. Everywhere is freezing cold, so most of the day I wanted to go get dressed. Staff don’t show you around when you arrive. Overall our spa day which we were looking forward to, we wished the time away to get our treatments done so we could just go home. Don’t waste your time going here for a spa day… it’s just a gym/ pool that offer treatments.

Negative experience: I’ve booked a spa day for my partner and myself yesterday which is cost me £110 for 55min of massage and scrub, we’re disappointed as the treatment was rushed and the ladies took 40min only when we paid 55min. The room were cold, I’ll definitely not going back

Negative experience: Purchased a wowcher spa day deal for 2. Cost £78. Have to say I was truly disappointed. Facilities were no better than a council leisure centre. Jacuzzi was very small and pool very crowded. Decor was tired. Treatments were ok but rushed. Supposed to be 3 treatments in 40 mins we only had 30 minutes. Couldn't even get a coffee after our treatment as cafe closed at 5:30. Don't waste your money

Positive experience: Had a spa day/treatment booked as a gift. Booked here as another location had closed, and it was convenient for travel. It's technically a members gym which has spa facilities. As such, you get to share all the areas with people going about their day. This makes it pretty busy. The "spa" consists of a lane swimming pool (slow swimmers in the fast lane), jacuzzi (comfortable for about 4 people), a steam room (broken on the day), and sauna (full and limited to 15 minute sessions). It was possible you could use some gym facilities but then you had to find everything yourself. The treatment rooms were cold. I had a massage and facial done by a young lady who clearly wanted to be in and then away as quickly as possible. The treatments were fine. On finishing the ladies, both left at speed with no discussion around what products were used or if they were available to buy. Eventually, one (the other clearly having got better things to do) of the ladies returned and directed us to a relaxation room and available water for drinking. The room was basic, and there was a small jug with no cups/glasses. The cafe was good. Great choice of food and drink with friendly staff, which retained my 3 stars as I won't be using the spa again.

Negative experience: Awful place for a spa day. It's a real stretch calling it a spa in all honesty. Its a leisure club with some treatment rooms. It's not well sign posted and you're not given any instructions on where anything is. Dirty toilets, needing a good scrub out and repaint! It put my husband and I off using the pool etc. When we arrived there was a very loud aqua class taking place in the pool. The relaxation room was nice, but two older women in there chatting and laughing, so no relaxation to be had! I couldn't see any signs asking people to be quiet. We left after our treatments which were the only positives of the 2 hours we spent there. Never again! I've been to Wildmore so expected better from Banatynnes.

Negative experience: Avoid this place at all costs if you are having beauty treatments, the staff and the manager have no idea what they are doing!!! Don’t know how to do basic treatments such as eyebrow tinting/waxing and nails..they only offer to re do aswell if your not happy but why would you want them done again by someone that has no clue the first time?!

Negative experience: Disappointing. Myself and 2 friends booked in for a spa day and were hugely disappointed by the facilities. We had made use of everything available to us within 45 minutes and then had to wait around for hours in the cafe before our treatment time as there was nothing else to do. The loungers by the pool were thrown around in random places by the small poolside, and when we moved them to sit together found the roof was leaking on us! The relaxation room was cold, strangely laid out and not relaxing by any means. The centre in general felt unclean and not a fraction of our day was luxurious as you’d expect when paying that much money for a “spa day”. We have written a formal complaint via email and have not yet heard back from anybody dispite raising our concerns to the staff within 1 hour of our visit aswell. Don’t bother booking here for a spa day, you can pay the same price for Stratford upon Avon Bannatyne which is miles better and is actually relaxing and enjoyable.

Negative experience: The girl who carried out my massage was lovely and professional but I got the feeling that she hadn’t got any experience. Very timid wiping of stones on oily skin and not in the right places to feel like a massage at any point. Left feeling more irritated than relaxed. At £67 for less than an hour with inexperienced staff it’s not worth the money. Spend a couple of quid on a bottle of oil and wipe it on yourself..

Negative experience: After receiving a parking fine through the post after spending 200 plus for a spa day is disgusting and when appealing to say I was there as a customer they did not want to know. Being taken to court and it just shows you can't go anywhere without businesses waiting for an opportunity to make money. Will not be going here again even the manager wasn't interested.

Positive experience: My massage was absolutely wonderful and the massage therapist was lovely. However we came here for a spa day and it wasn't super relaxing as there is not a separate spa area from where the classes take place in the swimming pool - there were two water aerobics sessions whilst we were there with very loud music (looked like a lot of fun, but wasn't ideal for relaxing!). Overall a nice day, but not as relaxing as I'd have wanted for a spa day.

Negative experience: I’d recently been through one of the toughest times of my life so thought a spa day alone would help. It wasn’t clear the general pool area is not available in the spa package (which most places are). The reception staff where not helpful and didn’t explain anything. The masseuse was 15 mins late for my appointment. They then spoke throughout the appointment, specifically complaining about their day none stop and kept trying to sell me things during and after the appointment. Wasn’t able to relax the whole time because of this. There’s wasn’t any proper relaxing music which was strange. She also complained about the spas pricing of products/packages. Spent 2 hours and £80 for the worst spa experience frankly I’ve ever had. I highly recommend the spa review the staffs lunch breaks to make sure their staff have a proper break/food because apparently it’s a massive problem which affects their clients experiences (such as mine). Unfortunately wouldn’t recommend. Waste of money and time for the day I’d planned to make myself feel better. Such a shame. Went home feeling more emotionally exhausted, silly and a little bruised.

Negative experience: I regret to share that my recent experiences at Bannatyne's Gym have left me deeply disappointed and concerned. Over time, I have noticed a distressing decline in the overall quality of the facility. The gym's cleanliness and maintenance standards have notably deteriorated, leading to an environment that appears consistently unkept and dirty. Beyond the concerning state of the gym, there seems to be a disconcerting undertone of unwelcome and even racism. This is deeply troubling and entirely unacceptable. In what should be an inclusive and encouraging space, the gym feels far from welcoming. Regrettably, I've observed instances where the staff's attitude has conveyed an unfortunate sense of disrespect and disregard towards customers. This demeanor creates an atmosphere that is far from motivating and inclusive, which is vital for a positive workout experience. It is truly disheartening to convey that, based on my experiences, Bannatyne's Gym in Solihull is undoubtedly one of the most unwelcoming fitness facilities in the area. I had hoped for a place where I could pursue my fitness goals in a supportive and inspiring environment, but instead, I have encountered consistent disappointment and discomfort. I believe it is essential for the management of Bannatyne's Gym to address these issues urgently. A gym should be a place of positivity, inclusivity, and encouragement for all its patrons, regardless of their background or identity. I genuinely hope that the necessary measures will be taken to rectify these concerns, ultimately transforming the gym into the welcoming and empowering space it should be. Anyone looking for a new gym in the Solihull area should avoid this one at all costs and put their hard earned money to better use at a more friendly gym. One more welcoming and well kept!

Negative experience: I booked a bliss spa package for me and my wife for our anniversary. To say I was disappointed will be an understatement. This place clearly should not be advertised as a Spa and should be a stand alone health club which it is. The health club amenities such as pool, jacuzzi were appalling. The swimming pool was lane swimming and the water was freezing, there is no privacy whatsoever as the people sitting in the canteen area have a full cinematic view of you swimming. The jacuzzi was also cold and not the best. Now going to the main event….. this is where it starts getting from bad to worse. We had booked for the back shoulder and neck massage which also included the hand and arm massage for two. We were collected from a seating area by a friendly (credit where it’s due) member of staff. We were shown to our massage room which was rather unwelcoming. After getting changed and ready for our massage me and my wife lay on our front excited for a relaxing time. However, the masseuse then enters the room and says they have issues with staff and one person can have the massage and the other person has to get changed back and wait until another staff member is free, this was supposed to be our special anniversary relaxation day but ended in one of us getting dressed again whilst the other had the massage. After a while the other staff member turned up by which time my massage was finished (the massage was much shorter than the advertised 45 minutes) so to Sum up our special day ended up in us having massages at separate times. To add insult to injury my wife was just given an eye mask as a way of apologising for the mess up. This is a clear warning to anyone attending for a special relaxing day do not visit Bannatyne’s in Solihull it’s a waste of time.

Positive experience: This is the best gym I’ve been to in years and that’s a compliment! However the swimming pool water isn’t 28 C like they said . It’s freezing cold water and I didn’t go sauna first! The changing rooms are the best but the lockers were dirty and very dusty inside and for the price we pay I think the cleaner should dust in there use bleach wipes etc and wipe it. It’s as though they haven’t been dusted in 10 years! Filthy and this was my first time there! You got the cleaner cleaning everything but not inside lockers? Why ? I should have took my own wipes… The cafe shop is a big rip off and half the time the manager doesn’t have the stuff you want in menu cos he has forgotton to order. Otherwise I can’t fault this gym on anything else yet as I’m new but can say I wish this facility was near me!!

Negative experience: Worst experience I have ever had at a spa and certainly wouldn't recommend to anyone! Myself, mum and sister booked a treatment as part of a day we had planned to get together for the anniversary of my dad passing and were looking forward to this element as a relaxing treat for us all. On entering the spa, we booked in and were asked to wait in the cafe until it was time for our treatment, which we did. When it was time, a therapist came down and greeted us and took us up to the treatment rooms. My mum and sister were taken into one room and I was lead into another and told to get changed and wait on the bed - which I did for 30 minutes without anyone coming in. After trying to find someone upstairs with no joy, I got changed and went back down to reception to see what was going on and was told to go back up to the room which I did! 10 minutes later, still nothing but heard voices outside. When I went out to ask what was happening I was told to go back to my room and that they were trying sort a therapist for me, which I found rude considering my experience so far. I then proceeded to get changed and at this stage was very stressed and just wanted to meet my mum and sister, get a refund for the treatment I didn't have and leave. It took 1.5 weeks to get a refund after numerous calls not being returned by the General Manager and emails being ignored for days, eventually the GM asked the receptionist to obtain my personal bank details over the phone, avoiding any contact with myself! In summary it was an awful experience on the day, appalling follow-up and communication from the senior team at Solihull and zero empathy for the situation as a whole and how much this rubbish experience affected our special day.

Negative experience: My friends and I had booked a “spa day” - a name it does not deserve as it ended up being a 40mins of disappointment. The therapist enquired if the massage pressure was ok. Having told her to go a little harder she recommended booking a “deep tissue massage”. Why even ask? The massage was just a ton of oil being smeared on my back…. Not great. Also, less than the 40mins that was paid for. Be mindful of the hidden charges as well for renting a towel and/or robes. So all in, far from good value and certainly not luxurious or relaxing. The receptionist was abrupt and unhelpful. Safe to say, never again.

Positive experience: I enjoy the aqua classes especially Alison(Ally) she is so good at what she does. Overall enjoy my sessions at the gym. Would be good to have complimentary towels but you have to pay an extra charge every month which is £20. Also there is no tissues in the gym area to use. Would be good to have a water dispenser by the pool area.

Positive experience: Spa is nice, layout is strange but OK. Sauna and steam room are large. Pool was nice but cold but that also could have been because we went into the steam room first. Showers were amazing. And the massage was just incredible. Truly enjoyed my day. The staff was all pleasent and wonderful, and it's truly a relaxing place. The only thing I wasn't as keen on is the relaxation room. The music was a bit loud and the room was rather bright. Went for a spa day for 2 booking. And definitely would go back. Negative experience: Horrendous experience today! Incompetent staff which forgot to check us in on arrival which lead to us having our treatment time reduced yet we arrived earlier than required! Therapist was rude and said ‘well your treatment will be less time today.’ When I pointed out it was receptions fault she said well someone else will have to take over halfway through then. I could have had a better first part of the massage from a wet fish! You could tell she couldn’t wait to get out of the room! The therapist left my partner covered in scrub as well. When finished asked if we wanted to go to relaxation room, so we said yes. Took to the smallest room ever which was in bright light, and full. The water jug was empty and dry. So we went out and asked for water and was told ok. So we waited for the water to arrive. It never did so went back to ask again and the original therapist then gave attitude and said ‘go downstairs to the cafe’ so I asked for the manager and again with attitude ‘I’m about to go into a treatment and the manager is in one, so you’ll have to wait.’ And off she went. Unable to use any facilities as they’re full with gym users and the pool has lanes in it with swimming lessons taking place! No space around the pool to just relax either. Utter sham of a place! Also you have to rent your robe and towel! £12pp. I have NEVER been to a spa where you have to rent your gown. You couldn’t make it up! Don’t waste you money! Really ruined our weekend!

Negative experience: Facilities clean, that's about all I can say as a positive! Booked in as a spa day... aqua aerobics taking over the swimming pool, treatments cut short by 10mins (paid for 55mins and received 45mins!), and the food was the biggest joke. We ordered a burger and a quesadilla, which took over an hour to come out and look like they'd been constructed by a toddler. They tried to tell us they were short staffed because some staff couldn't get in due to the snow.... we'd travelled from Gloucester! Don't waste your money on a "spa day" here.

Negative experience: Absolutely awful “spa.” Can’t believe they are allowed to sell spa days here - there is no spa area, there is a grubby pool which was full of swimmers doing lengths and had a swimming lesson going on. The one small jacuzzi was full the entire time we were here. There were issues with staff shortages and a limited menu but I’ve since seen from over reviews this was a problem last summer. Do not recommend to anyone

Amie 2 years ago

Negative experience: Not a spa!! Pool is for the gym so was only lanes for lengths, and then they started swimming lessons in there. Paid for a "soothing spa day" but this should not be classed as a spa, it is a gym. The cafe had virtually no food and no staff, reception were not friendly. Completely disappointed and will be seeking a refund from spa seekers.

Fantastic experience: My self and my husband attended on a spa day package that he had brought me for Christmas a few years ago(covid attacked and we couldn't go) after sorting out the voucher with the manager we booked in. After reading the reviews I'm not going to lie I was dreading it, buy when we arrived I was blown away with how far from the truth these reviews were as far as l could see. The pool was clean and for a Saturday afternoon not busy all the gym equipment were working and clean the staff were very friendly and answerws any questions we had. Then we had our treatments yes they were a little late taking us through and I did have to ask but we had our full session and it was amazing. The ladies were brilliant and we were very relaxed. I would.100% attend here again

Negative experience: We purchased the spa access as a group booking. We attended the club 15 minutes ahead of our appointment time to register ourselves. Upon arrival we spoke with a staff member who could not find us on the system. She went to call her manager, who walked towards us displaying an attitude. The manager, Charlotte' mood appeared to have been made up as to how she would act towards us. She did not ask for our names and assumed what our names are giving us very Asian names. This is the point from which the racial bias started. I explained to her we had a booking and she said that was cancelled. Not once did she check on the system. I explained that we had received no cancellation email and she explained one had been sent. She stated that you had called about personal circumstances. My sister had called as there had been a death which would affect one persons booking. I explained that surely individual emails should have been sent, just in the same way that we had to book individually on their system (As we had purchased the tickets via wowcher we had to redeem them individually). She could not address this, but was adamant she had sent the email. We all checked our emails and there was nothing to confirm our appointments were cancelled or rearranged. I asked for the complaints policy, two of the staff members sniggered repeating "complaints policy". The manager stated "I am the manager" in response to me querying about the complaints policy, from this point I realised there was little hope in raising the issue with her as she failed to recognise any fault on her part. She asked if we wished to use the spa, which we didnt. The whole atmosphere was embarrasing, this could have been addressed in a polite manner by taking us to the side but no it was a joke. We felt humiliated to be treated in this way infront of other visitors. I raised this issue separately with the club, the response I received was equally appaling. No responsibility was accepted by Bannatyne. Apart from the two ladies we met upon initial entrance which was a red haired and blonde haired women the rest of the staff were awful. I would not be recommending this club.

Negative experience: Felt so humiliated and embarrassed at this spa. We went in and they changed our booking without any confirmation( read other reviews and seems they do this to a lot of individuals). The manager Charlotte was rude, didn’t introduce herself and was practically shouting at us. Her staff at the back were sniggering at us and repeating what we were saying in a sarcastic manner. They were racially profiling us as they didn’t ask our name but guessed random Asian names. I would NOT recommend going here, they think they’re better than others and will speak to you with absolutely no respect. Think the staff need basic training in their communication skills x

Negative experience: I have no problem with the spa treatment the girls were very accommodating but as for the lead up from members we felt like second class citizens as if we were something they had trodden in to be precise This was my birthday treat from my daughter and was most upset with way we were treated in the lead up to our spa treatment and not able to enjoy our experience. I have been in touch to voice my complaint only to be told that it is a members club and apologised for this. It was my daughters first experience and she felt deflated at the way we were treated

Negative experience: I would give this a zero star if I could. The staff at this place are so rude. As a Muslim women I felt very uncomfortable & unwelcomed to this place. They firstly did not greet us upon arrival. Secondly they just guessed our names with any typical muslim name. They cancelled our booking & re-arranged it yet didn’t send no confirmation explaining that it’s been rescheduled & as we all turned up they go well nothing we can do. We spoke to the manager Charlotte & on arrival she did not introduce herself, she was very moody and did not greet us just goes “what’s wrong!?”, we explained the situation and she goes nothing we can do. We asked about the complaint procedure and they said well you can complain to me as i’m the manager. The girls working there were sniggering behind & were repeating “complaint policy”. The behaviour of the staff and manager was unacceptable unprofessional and inappropriate. We felt very embarrassed and disheartened by this. Definitely do not attend this place

Negative experience: Months waiting for the changing rooms to switch back. Really not enjoying using the gym or showers. Changing rooms also dirty. All members should be given a reduction while building work takes place. Large Pot holes along the entrance road and a few in the parking area. Would expect better standards for a health gym

J Z 2 years ago

Negative experience: I have been a member for five years, nothing has changed or improved, and recently this gym has got more equipment/facilities broken than ok to use. I have noticed that cleaning is being neglected ( especially changing rooms and showers) and the soap dispenser is not refilled. Covid cleaning stations disappeared ( probably because the paper towel is too expensive), and cardio equipment (because of environmental and sustainability reasons) switched off - this could quickly be taken down to stores and replaced with more free weights and machines that this gym has been lacking (it can get jam-packed in the evening). I don't think this will ever improve or change ;(
