Fantastic experience: I recently visited the Nuffield Leisure Centre, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience! The facility is well-maintained, with a variety of amenities that cater to different interests. From the moment I walked in, the staff were friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home. Lucas and Caden were so kind and helpful, really shining through with their lovely personalities. Would definitely recommend visiting!

Positive experience: The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Members are pleasant. Just a shame there is no equipment that I can use as a wheelchair user.
Hi Simon, thank you for your review. Is there any particular pieces of equipment you would be looking to use? It may also be worth booking in with one of our fitness team for a complimentary session who will advise on how to use some of the equipment and recommend some alternative exercises for you. Negative experience: I appreciate the efforts of the staff at Nuffield Health Taunton, who have always been pleasant and approachable. However, I no longer feel that my membership represents good value for money due to the frequent unavailability of various amenities. The atmosphere in the spa and sauna is often disruptive to what should be a peaceful environment, and I have ongoing concerns about hygiene, particularly in the steam room. I was also disappointed to be informed of a price increase immediately after the poolside facilities had been closed for a month, which felt poorly timed. While the gym itself is adequate, these issues have led me to the decision not to renew my membership. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend Nuffield Health Taunton.

Negative experience: What an absolute joke! I have just walked to the car after waiting for 30 minutes for a tour of the facility, and the manager is just sat there eating soup on his phone the whole time. Terrible customer service - do not waste your time!!!
Negative experience: If you are choosing a gym for January 2025 and see special offers, you should be aware that Nuffield are hiking their prices. In May 2023 they increased the membership price by £36 a year, then again in March 2024 and in Jan 2025 increasing by a further £60 annually. So in two years the price has increased by £132 per year! The swimming pool is under maintenance for the whole month of December, I really hope they are fixing the loose and missing tiles in the pool. You could only suspend your membership entirely, no discount for half of the facilities not being available if you wanted to use the gym. Notice how on Facebook / Instagram any posts about maintenance and closures, they disable any comments. Prior to this in the last year the pool & spa were regularly having issues with chemicals and filters, water too cloudy, pool regularly shut. See attached text messages from last year. Like another review said, fixing the equipment takes too long, every week and even today there are rowing and running machines out of action. With all these issues they shouldn’t be increasing the membership by so much, hence the negative review sadly.

Positive experience: Staff are great. I have weekly PT and I find it incredibly helpful. The equipment is good and the spa is a bonus.

Fantastic experience: Very good members of staff. Caleb is a wonderful representation for the business at front of house. I dealt with him today along with Gemma who was as equally pleasant and competent at helping me with my query. Great job guys.

Positive experience: Great gym, staff are friendly, free pool for the kids on every Saturday. Few people in particular, always have a smile and very welcoming: Gemma (think we all know Gemma! - nevertheless always consistently customer friendly) Caleb - Bubbly and courteous Patricia - Always with a smile Some of the equipment has been out for a while but I believe this is just circumstantial with the contractor, which as we all know your hands can be tied. Still the best place for everything you need in one place in Taunton. Think some people just need to look behind the curtains before jumping to conclusion.
Negative experience: So the center is clean and Tidy, the front desk staff are very unhelpfull and not sure how to resolve promblems which then make me have to wait for the to look in to the issue and there not the quickest at resolve issues. They expect Homeopathic issues and dont want to resolve it when these issue happen. How ever the 5 star would have to be Noah PT trainer amazing person and goes above and beyond I wish the whole recpection team had the same as Noah and give that little bit of time to fix prombles and make people welcome. Not everyone has a good head space some suffer from Anxiety depression and much more you don't know what you can deal with when dealing with Public. I have to say some times people need confidence. I feel the Reception staff are more intrested in talking behide the dest with their team instead of helping to resolve issues or promblems plus they pass it on to other people. Noah as truly made me wellcome and truly wanted to help me the areas other department should deal with. Also to top it off the duty manager and operacional manager were kind and respect to them it's a shame you miss the customer training with the guys at the front Desk. My confidence is very up and down and I have to say I have throught about leaving the center because I'm just always hitting a wal when I require help. Noah as truly incourage me to give you guys a chance. Like others have said Nuffield was very up market once but now its gone down hill. You have teenagers and young adults who wish to be stupid in the changing room when you speak to staffa out it or the staff see it they don't care.
Negative experience: An actual joke of a gym. The contractors they employ take forever to fix anything so you have to constantly workout in a substandard gym - at a premium price. Without fail there’s at least one piece of equipment not working - paired with the fact the air con has been broken all summer. Avoid at all costs
Negative experience: I joined this gym as it used to be quite 'upmarket' & the facilities were so good. Sadly its gone down hill massively & is now very dated - machines always out of order, sauna / hydro pool broken & takes yonks to repair, then when repaired, not repaired properly! Cleaning not up to scratch, dirty old mats & cubicle curtain that is older than me - the cleaners seem to just stand in the changing rooms talking in their own language creating quite an off putting, unwelcoming atmosphere. Definitely not 'upmarket' in any shape or form anymore. I've cancelled my membership after 7 years....
Negative experience: From the day I subscribed they copied my information wrong on the system (even my name however they had my ID). But guess what they got my credit card detail right because they did take my money. Because of that I was not able to book any class for all my membership duration. The front desk was not able to help…….. until I requested to cancel my membership. Also not to mention the gym is always busy after 5PM. Too much for the price I pay. I will go back to Snap Fitness they are a way better club, less busy, staff more available, 24/7 and cheaper.

Negative experience: Really starting to get annoyed with this place. Staff are friendly and helpful but the equipment is not fit for purpose. The pics below are from 1 gym session. At any point in time a huge proportion of the equipment is not working or unserviceable. Couple that with the pool being out of service on a regular basis and you have to question why we are paying such a high membership price. If technogym can’t provide the servicing and parts they promised then break contract and use somebody else who can as your members are getting very fed up now. Puregym is looking more and more attractive……SORT IT OUT!

Negative experience: Have been a member of this gym for about 16 years ( part of this time it was Esporta or Virgin) and things have really gone downhill. The pool is presently closed with no idea of when it might be open again. Management seem to be blaming lack of chemical availability but nowhere else appears to have this problem. Communication is bad and they don't seem to care about members.
Negative experience: Well absolutely and we'll and truly appauled don't no where to start almost fell thru the sauna as it is out dated and selataped together can feel the boards bending when you sit on them not to mention the random rubber matt on the floor to hide a cracked tile were dirt and bacteria was growing wasn't told that the jets in the jacuzzi weren't working the steam room smelled like damp and mold and to top it all off I didn't really want to use any of these services just the pool but that staff failed to tell me there was a fitness slot for old ladies with terrible ear beatings 80s music on repeat so couldn't get any laps in its clear buy the reviews there no stranger to complaints when I questioned then on the way out they handed me a card and said contact them so there clearly used to it
Negative experience: staff are genuinely rude- When I was wrongly given a parking ticket I was told I shouldn't use the gym as a car park when visiting town. I love in town and only park at the gym when going out of town after! They do absolutely nothing at all to stop antisocial behaviour in pool or gym even if it's a direct violation of gym rules. shut doors 1 hour earlier than advertised time. lots of broken equipment that doesn't get fixed or replaced. not a premium experience in any sense of the word.
Negative experience: I had the most awful experience at this gym! The manager ‘Paul’ treated me like I was invisible and completely ignored my concerns. It's unbelievable how poorly I was treated. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Avoid it at all costs!
Hi Abraham, as outlined in your complaint you submitted to us. You attempted to access the centre in breach of terms of membership. You cannot use another person’s card to access the centre and you were not permitted to enter, due to this. Negative experience: There are only two bikes in the corner of the room, so I had to wait my turn . The water fountains don't work filter, so say two minute job on my fridge at home , and there is on blue roll to wipe my brow. Won't be coming back to this one in a hurry

Positive experience: There is zero pictures of the gym on the on google maps. Its almost the first think that should be on there for a gym is a squat rack. Just a heads up i loved training in other nutfield gyms
Positive experience: Large car park. Adequate changing rooms. Two studios for classes. Well equipped gym. 20 metre swimming pool with jacuzzi steam room and sauna. Large reception area. Staff helpful and pleasant
Negative experience: I have been member for a year and been a member at a Nuffield, Bannatyne and David Lloyd clubs in other locations. The staff are all friendly and the club is kept clean and tidy. It seemed the club ran a promotion in January and the club was clearly oversubscribed to any month before, with equipment being used to it's maximum. Since the end of January the Jacuzzi has been broken and the Sauna wood keeps falling apart. Nearly 3 months with a broken Jacuzzi, and management thought that 1 free coffee is suitable compensation. The club seems very empty now and I can only think people are leaving at high numbers. The jacuzzi has no set fix date, with a variety of excuses when asked - poor management, poor customer service, I have cancelled my membership.
Negative experience: Awful equipment maintenance major parts of the gym shut regularly. Treating customers as cash cow's. Management don't care.
Negative experience: I asked to cancel my membership, due to my mental health it restricts me from carrying out activities and they said if I provide a medical letter to say I cannot attend for this reason they would cancel the membership, I provided the letter they asked for and then the wrote to me saying we will cancel but it’s too late to cancel next month so the member ship wouldn’t end until the beginning of the month after, so I would have to pay another months worth knowing full well I can’t use the gym, all they care about is the money not the members which is ironic given their name “Nuffield Health” Not only that the gym is always packed and you can never use the equipment you want to always waiting around, *DO NOT RECOMMEND*
Positive experience: Very friendly and helpful staff
Negative experience: DO NOT JOIN IF YOU WANT TO SWIM! I joined the gym one year ago during COVID restrictions and you needed to book your spot on the app so you always knew when the swimming pool had space for you to swim. That worked. The swimming pool still was small and the price high, but at least you could use it. Now the restrictions are gone and there is no booking system so it s a free for all. There is quite a weird race every morning to get to the swimming pool and even if you get in just when they are opening, you will miss a spot if you take more than 1 or 2 minutes to get change. Why management did not think about this very obvious problem is something I cannot understand. I am cancelling my subscription and I would advice anybody thinking about joining to think it twice (at least for swimming, I do not have any experience with the rest of the facilities)

Positive experience: The gym is great , the staff are good but there's always things broken down stairs in the pool area ( often for weeks if not months!) parking can be a problem as well and then there's possible fines for staying too long in the car park. If you just want to work out and are not fussed about a swimming pool there's better options.
Fantastic experience: Wouldn't go anywhere else! The gym has had lots of improvements this year which is a plus, but the atmosphere is good, staff always helpful and it's a gym for everyone. By that , I mean it's not a Ken and Barbie gym where people are more interested in what they look like rather than what they're doing!!!

Negative experience: Over priced and bad service. Joined this club with the idea of using the pool and gym. Wanted a club with both so I could make the choice After using the gym a few times, decided I’d just use the pool. Gym is really busy and lacking equipment, weights are limited and really low quality, most broken or missing. With torn benches and bent bars, really not good enough for 60+ pounds a month. Pool is nice, when there are less than 4 people in it. They close half if not more of it for classes, which run over. For example today, when the class was over, 3 people just stood in the pool for 15 min without moving, and when they finally left, they looked at the rest of the people in the pool as if they owned it. Also, don’t be taken in by the “fancy “ MOT, booked one 6 weeks in advance, got a call less than 24h before, saying they had to cancel it because one of the people had annual leave booked. Spoke to management who could not give and good reason or way of resolving the situation. Expect said they would call me back to book a future appointment, but never got the call. This is the main reason I decided to leave the club. Terrible service on this part. Take note, a lot of stuff the club offers is also paid, on top of membership - swimming lessons etc. The pool and sauna are nice, but over crowded most of the time. The people in the club are mostly stuck up and think they own the place, leave rubbish all over the place, don’t care about others using the facilities. Changing rooms are always dirty (muddy) and soaking wet on the floor, never seen anyone cleaning them. Management, listen to the feedback, read the reviews. Invest in equipment and go on a customer service course! Making a formal complaint with the regional management team. Update - only fair to keep this an up-to-date review. After 3 weeks of emails and calls to several parties, including corporate, finally got the general manager of the beach to reach out to me. Happy with the solution offered, but the process and time taken was unacceptable. Apparently they are renovating too. So might update if they improve the gym.
Negative experience: Been a member of this club for years. Originally started as Esporta, got taken over by Virgin Active and finally signed over to Nuffield Health. It's totally gone to the dogs. Kit is broken for months on end. The brand new hydro pool is closed more than its open. Most of the gym kit is getting on for 15 years old. Senior management don't care and constantly give excuses. There are far better gyms in Taunton offering the latest kit at half the price.
Negative experience: My previous post/ comment was deleted from Facebook as I guess the ‘senior managers’ didn’t like what I was saying. So heres my review ....... I have been with Nuffield for over three years! I have paid for personal training for over a year and have watched the club fall to its knees! In April 2017 I entered a transformation competition with my trainer this cost me £350. I loved the motivation and competitive nature within the members that entered. The challenge finished in June 2017 and I was happy with my progress. July came and went and I began to ask when the results would be issued. Finally, when the ‘senior’ managers had stone walled me enough I escalated my concerns to the regional manager - John Foley. He ‘plicated’ me and was transparent about the ‘issues’ with the managers at the club. He provided clarity on the lack of people skills and experience within a couple of the senior managers however, he assured me that until my concerns were at rest I would no longer need to pay for my membership! The club have continued to charge me and now ‘they don’t remember the conversation’..... not to worry though ..... I have the agreement in writing! So why the poor review .... well, if the above hasn’t satisfied you enough, then please please think carefully before signing up to a club that considers themselves a ‘charity’ then Miss sells competitions to drive revenue through the doors of a poorly managed, dirty, run down gym. Where good staff are undervalued, over worked and consequently driven away. I urge you to sign up if you want to be charged £50pcm for a constantly broken hydro pool, equipment that is broken for months on end and a senior management team who ignore complaints, hide behind the office doors and throw your comment cards in the bin. If you want to make a complaint about this sinking ship I suggest you email John.Foley he’s actually a credit to the company. Just be prepared to wait and make sure you chase for a response.
Positive experience: Joined Nuffield gym Taunton about 6 weeks ago online to use pool and pool facilities only. Arrived at reception on first day to be told Pool shut for two weeks due to work on Hydro pool which would open on 12 Dec. For last 10 days cold showers, hydro pool still not open, aqua class cancelled on Monday and today Aqua class on but water murky and cold , plus music machine broke down. I did speak to very helpful member today who explained problems, but even so, not really the standards you expect. I am disappointed with communication as apparently the pool area was only closed for a week and not two which was a further wasted weeks subscription. Posters are put up but information should be communicated online as well.
Fantastic experience: Good range of equipment, clean changing rooms, friendly staff, has a pool sauna and steam room. Nothing to fault really apart from the price maybe
Fantastic experience: This is a large gym with plenty of equipment and a swimming pool. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I go in the morning and it is never too crowded.
