Kettering Swimming Pool

Fantastic experience: Gary stopped me from bumping into another swimmer. Gary cleaned the change room, it was lovely clean! Thank you!

Negative experience: Staff at the pool are rude and give incorrect information. The swimming lessons are chaos with absolutely no structure to them. Expecting a three year old to get in the pool and swim across on their first ever lesson is despicable. The teachers are very unprofessional and clearly have no interest in teaching children to swim, with one even telling one screaming child to go and see their mum to give their ears a break! Complaints are not acknowledged, let alone responded to. Disgusting service!

Fantastic experience: Can’t complain, it’s was warm and clean. I had a nice swim with nice hot showers to rinse off

Negative experience: This is by far, the worst sports venue I have ever attended. The water is cold, the changing rooms smell like wee, the toilets are disgusting but worst of all is the staff. The swimming teachers are too busy flirting with each other or being bored to look after the kids they're teaching. You can tell they have no motivation or desire to be there, let alone any passion for their job. Don't bother complaining either as you just get ignored. Save your money and get your kids to another swimming pool, there are much better ones out there.

Positive experience: Its a basic swimming pool 1m in shallow end and 2m in the deep. Not too busy on free swim time but still has 2 lanes open for lap swimmers.

Negative experience: Called to check if we could swim with the children and their inflatables etc , was told yes pool open and no problem. On arrival, AFTER I Paid £3 to park, I was told very abruptly by receptionist that the pool was closed for general swim as lessons were taking place, she then answered the phone and ignored me. With 2 excited children wanting to go swimming and down £3 the morning was disappointing . Receptionist in my opinion is the most unprofessional grump And shouldn’t be customer facing.

Positive experience: Pool is clean, staff not that friendly only among themselves. Should be more swim slots, overly busy.

Negative experience: Swimming Pool is better than expected, however the swim times for members or public to swim, is very limited. It feel like there is only a few hours in the day you can actually use the swimming pool. Also now I have been to the gym a few times, the centre is lacking love, male changing rooms just smell unpleasant all the day, the gym doesn't look like it's had a good clean in a while, dust everywhere. To pay £34 a month aswell. I feel this is unjustified, especially compared to other gyms and leisure centres and what you would received for your membership. Oh and you have to pay to park aswell. Come on freedom sort it out.

Negative experience: Lovely swimming pool. However very rude staff. You walk in and they ignore you and sit on their phones or talking amongst themselves. When you finally get their attention. They roll their eyes and serve you patronisingly. Also very expensive and changing rooms are gross. The pool itself is nice but everything else isn’t good

Negative experience: The gym has been transformed in to an after school club on weekdays. Full of lovely young people having fun, showing off, jumping around, fighting and shouting. It's great

Negative experience: Website claims they do swimming lessons for 3 months and over. Not only do you have to wait for them to call you with the correct information rather than just having the information on their website, they only do swimming lessons for 18 months and over. Pretty big difference. Had heard Freedom Leisure weren't great but didn't expect them to be that wrong.

Fantastic experience: Clean pool and friendly staff

Negative experience: Today I visited the pool with my partner to have a general swim. Mick was the lifeguard to begin with then he also got in the pool into the lane we were in. He instructed my partner to tell me to move out of the lane I was swimming in (fast lane) already in a rude manner. He then went on to speak directly to me in such a rude and patronising way. It was general swim and in my defence I wasn’t bothering anyone or in anyone’s way and I could swim where ever I liked. There was only myself and my partner in the lane when he got in AND the lane next to us was completely empty. He could have used that. He spoke to me so rudely going on to inform me he was “training” and that if I can read I shouldn’t be in that lane. He was simply just being difficult, he himself could have got into the lane next to us which a lady who works there also agreed. She was very apologetic for his behaviour. He may have worked there for 40 years but that does not give him any right to speak to the public so aggressively, he was a bully! He even said “I can speak to you how I like”!! I had to tell him to stop shouting & being so nasty to me and to leave me alone. He then swam off. I promptly cut my swim short and left feeling very upset and shocked by the terrible way this man treated me. I doubt I will visit this pool again.

Negative experience: very expensive. £6 per head for an hours swim. i remember when it used to be half that! changing rooms well are just revolting. so hot and smell unpleasant. Clearly are not cleaned daily as i went two days in a row and the same manky stains and lumps of hair were found on the floor. The area around the pool is just dirty needs a good clean

Negative experience: Put my daughter in swimming lessons here. Dirty. Different teachers each week. No progress what so ever. Started at corby pool already so impressed after 1 lesson!!

Positive experience: Good place for kids training. However, I hope they can customise longer training courses for kids wanting to go through the professional swimmers pathway.

Fantastic experience: The pool is very clean and well maintained and the staff are always friendly and helpful. We visit very frequently and always have a positive experience. The only downside is the changing rooms often need a clean as they sometimes smell of urine or sweat etc and have dirty floors

Positive experience: Congratulation to all staff for their work and professionalism. They are doig a great job. Just the temperature of the water probably will be better if slighty higher.

Fantastic experience: Love it went there with my cousin for free for 2 hours the staff were a bit moody but we had a good day

Negative experience: Their customer service is just about as shocking as their swimming classes for toddlers. Dont waste your time or money.

Negative experience: Awful. 1 year old Son had swimming classes booked, first week the pool heaters weren’t working so it was freezing and he screamed the whole time another week they closed because they ran out of chlorine but didn’t bother to call and let us know. Took over 3 weeks to get a refund, nobody could find my details on their system so I wasn’t even booked on, yet they were still managing to take my money. Not one person offered an apology or showed that they cared, they were all completely useless and didn’t know how to issue a refund. Managers ignored emails, when you call up you’re told you’re not allowed to talk to the managers. When I finally did talk to the regional manager he actually said because my details weren’t on the system how does he know I’m not just somebody trying to get money from them like I have time to spend over 3 weeks sending emails and making phone calls to a swimming pool for a few £’s! Somebody in finance told me it might be easier for me to put a request in to my bank for the money ‍♀️ they have an option for the customer service team but when you select the option it says mailbox full, I was later told they no longer have a customer service team (says it all really that that’s the department they’ve gotten rid of!) ‍♀️ complete shambles.

Fantastic experience: This pool is a really nice place to swim and train. The staff are excellent. My wife is paraplegic and enjoys swimming unfortunately most of the pools in the area, although they all have disabled access the staff at Kettering pool make it much more pleasant. There is nothing that is too much trouble for the staff. They are all patient, friendly and informative. I feel that it is the staff here that make this such and enjoyable palce to swim. The hoist to get in and out ofbthe pool is an old pump style and it is hard work for the staff yet not once have I heard any member of affairs complain or grumble about this. A big thanks to the staff at Kettering pool.

Positive experience: Good swimming pool in Kettering. Swimming lessons are good. Few swimming teachers are very good. However, there are low availability of slots. Because of this, even after passing a stage, kids have to remain in the old stage until a space opens in the new stage. This leads to undue wastage of time and money as well. Management needs to look into this and improve this situation.

Positive experience: Yeah, it's ok. It's not huge, but it's clean and I have a discounted subscription as I have a leisure pass from council, so really good value.

Positive experience: A great community facility, the pool and changing area are well-kept. There's also a fully equipped gym, excellent.

Positive experience: Most impressed with the long overdue refurb in the changing rooms. Shower water scalding hot. I wish the difference between the pool and shower water temperature was smaller.

Positive experience: My daughter loves her swimming lessons here and her tutor. Great price too. Wouldn’t seem like the place for general swim and changing rooms often really dirty and my last visit had rubbish on the floor too. I have made the centre aware of it and hopefully they respond well and take this on board.

Positive experience: It is a good place for many things. May not entertain your children but is good for relaxation, exercise, and special bubble phenomenon. I swim here often, and I quite enjoy it. It's also very clean thanks to recent renovations.

Fantastic experience: Just joined as a member here. People and staff are friendly and helpful in my first day here. This will be my weekend place to come with my son now. ☺️. Pool needs to be a bit more warmer, but the showers are great. Nice and hot. Just the right amount of space. Very pleased with the facilities

Negative experience: So sorry, but I have to go public with what is really a complaint, since the website allows no opportunity to lodge complaints, only "enquiries". My gripe is that there are NO shower facilities (at least there were none this morning, when I attended the pool for the first time) - yet prominent notices properly ask users to shower thoroughly before using the facility. It was clear to me that people were accepting the lack of showers as normal, and just walked straight through to the pool, which I regard as a very unhygienic practice. I asked a lady pool user about the showers and she confirmed this was usual. On my way out I raised the issue with the unapologetic receptionist, who said that next time I should wave to the lifeguard. Sorry, but this is not good enough. Doubly so in this age of Covid.

Fantastic experience: April 2021. The swimming pool is fantastic now that it has been revamped over lockdown.New changing rooms,new showers that are an even temperature. The pool temperature does varie still,but it's clean and looks great now.I have noticed that not so much chlorine in it either,which feels better on the skin. The staff are still always friendly and helpful. 10/10 for customer service. I would highly recommend this pool.

Negative experience: I was going gym here for a few weeks cancelled my membership as gym was dirty and very dusty has not been cleaned the dust was still there when I went bk the following week absolutely disgusting!!!!!

Positive experience: Swimming pool is okay, changing rooms aren’t the cleanest however the gym has basic equipment (dumbbells, treadmills et cetera) Staff are friendly and a safe place to visit on your own or as a family.

Negative experience: Not what it used to be manager is is quite rude he definitely doesn't know how to speak to customers. Cleanliness is zero there's no soap in the toilet to clean hands. Prices gone up too high but what for if the cleaning standard has gone down. Some teachers attitude is not good towards children I don't know ow if they are selective which they shouldn't be and the worst is you can't even make complaints online as there's no option you make complaints face to face they won't listen.

Positive experience: We go there every week, it's an ok pool. You cant have competitions as no where for people to sit (well not enough), the changing rooms are in dire need of an update especially the lockers and the showers, be nice if that ammonia smell would go. Some of the people are nice.

Negative experience: Phoned up to ask if the had a toddler pool with slide or anything to do with a child's pool didn't even get my sentence out before being met with "NO NO No" so just hung up very rude staff member best to wait for the question before being so rude

Negative experience: Grim, I felt like I was in the 1980s, urinals blocked with the strongest urine odor I have ever smelt, I did not feel clean in this pool or the showers, a very run down local authority pool in comparison to neighbouring towns, will not be visiting again.

Negative experience: This pool is filthy and dirty the changing rooms are even worse mould down the walls along with dirt the toilets are awful never stocked up with toilet paper dirt all over the walls the sink and toilets are black with dirt and hair you defo need to wipe your feet on the way out the time for general swim is pathetic do not cater for people who work and when you do manage to do a swim there is always swimming lessons going on getting in the way of people trying to get lengths in and then there is the lanes where again you still cannot do much swimming as all the slow people go in the lanes as they cannot swim because of the lessons also lifeguard training should be done out of swimming hours as they close half of the pool to do it last time we had 1 lane and about 25 people were all trying to swim in the lane because the what was left of the pool was taken up with lessons the staff are friendly and helpfull time to cancell my membership and go to a cleaner more better poolView less
