Fantastic experience: Just joined last week, and I have to say this is one of the best gyms I've been to in terms of equipment and sauna facilities. The only downside is the classes; they could be a bit more energetic from the personal trainers and offer more options, like cycling. I’ve also noticed it can get quite dirty throughout the day, which can be off-putting. I really love the ladies' area, but I think it could use some more equipment.

Negative experience: Dear JD Gyms Team, I hope you’re doing well. I wanted to share some feedback regarding the women’s section at the gym. While I really appreciate having a dedicated space, it often feels quite cramped, making it difficult to train comfortably. Additionally, there aren’t enough weights for members to share easily, and the equipment for arm and shoulder training is quite limited, which makes it harder to get a well-rounded workout. I’ve also noticed that the StairMaster and running machines frequently seem to be out of order, which limits cardio options. It would be great if these could be maintained more consistently to ensure they are always available. On a positive note, the toning classes are excellent, and I really appreciate the variety they offer! Runi’s Zumba classes are also fantastic, and many of us would love to see more sessions available. It would also be great to have additional heavy booty training classes and abs training classes to meet demand. I’d love to hear your thoughts on these suggestions and hope they can be considered. Negative experience: This gym has gotten worse over time so I decided to cancel my membership after several months of not visiting this gym. I sent a cancellation request a few days after my direct debit due date & they requested another full months payment for no reason so go & do one JD.

Negative experience: I started going to this gym when it first opened, and initially, I was very satisfied. There was a great variety of equipment, everything was clean, and the modern design created a pleasant atmosphere. However, over the months, everything has drastically changed. The gym now often smells bad, is dirty, and overcrowded. The main issue lies in the lack of gym etiquette and basic respect from the members. People leave equipment wherever they finish using it, without putting it back in its place. As a result, weights and other gear are scattered all over the gym. What’s worse, the staff doesn’t seem to care at all and never address these issues with members. Lockers are frequently unavailable because people leave their padlocks overnight, or worse, leave their belongings in open lockers. In the bathrooms, cleanliness is a serious issue. Soap is often missing, and people shave in the sinks, leaving hair everywhere. Lack of personal hygiene and respect to others. This has significantly affected the gym experience, making it far less enjoyable than it used to be.
Negative experience: Half the stuff is never working, ladies section is cramped. Only thing good at the gym is the cleaner ( Rose ) when she’s not here the changing rooms looks awful. Also the managers don’t seem to care about anything going on in the gym even if you complain multiple times!

Negative experience: I've been with this Gym since the opening back in November 2022. I am regular person who's in the gym 5 days a week, varying from either early mornings or late afternoons however, in the past 6 months, the gym has become a complete mess. Ladies area especially is horrible to workout in, currently, 3 of the stairmaster machines are NOT working, give and take between 1-6months. Every other week or so, an engineer will come in, investigate, take photos, place a sign and that's it. I cannot understand how you are charging full membership when the machines are not been repaired within any given timeframe. Usually, machines should be repaired within 48 hours with the exception if parts need to be ordered, then this would vary 7-10 working days. I can say for a fact, that two of these machines have not worked for more than a month, one for at least 4months. This is highly disappointing service and lack of information to your customers. On the other hand, the same applies with treadmill machines in the ladies section, every so often, 1/2 machines are out of order and can take several days to be working again. The smith machines, the weight plates seem to have gone missing especially the 5/10kg plates which are universally used between thr Squat rack and the smith machines. Please could we have more weight plates to cater for both machines simultaneously. The dumbbells again seems to be wandering to the outside area on the 1st floor and are not placed back for more than a day. Surely, if the users are not placing the weights back after use, there are staff checking this throughout the day and bringing the weight back to the ladies area. It is becoming highly frustrating to not be able to find the dumbells in the area. In addition, could we at least have dumbbells in the ladies area going upto 30kg. I understand these dumbbells are present on the lower ground but not all females like to workout downstairs so it would be beneficial to have higher weights upstairs too. Lastly, the cable machines attachments also seem to disappear. Some weeks, we have multiple pulldown bars, handles and other weeks, only one can be found. The seated row double handle is hardly ever present, again, should there not be a staff checking on this throughout the day to placing the attachments back. The hygiene in general on the machines has been lacking for many months, there is a built up on dust/sweat on the bulky machines like treadmills/stairmasters which hasn't been cleaned for a very long time. Does the gym not have a deep clean on a regular? I understand this might not be a daily task but at least there should be a weekly/monthly deep clean routine. There is never any toilet paper inside the females toilets. Please could you go through the points, raise them with the relevant team/management and carry out the essential maintenance and improvements. This has been the case for many months, and it would be a shame to move to another gym on the basis on essential upkeep of equipments and hygiene.

Negative experience: Useless emergency support line. Joined today. Gonna cancle today itself. He didn't want to listen wts the issues and he cut off the line. Gym group is better.
Negative experience: The lady who cleans the ladies changing room on a Friday and Saturday night is very rude and disrespectful. Spoke down to me because I didn’t realise to ‘move’ when she was swiping the floor. Her threatening behaviour made me feel uncomfortable.
Positive experience: Good facilities for a budget gym with the added bonus of the sauna.
Negative experience: Overcrowded. Not enough machines and people hog them. Silly entrance policy as if you leave you have to wait an hour before you can go back in..there's no staff after 11 so you're screwed if you go at night. Several Machines are broken and take an age to get replaces.
Negative experience: Very disappointed with this gym. Machines are good but the woman’s private gym is underwhelming. The QR code system has also been an issue on multiple occasions for my boyfriend and I. Most recently we tried to go gym at around 11pm but could not get in. We pay around £25 a month to be able to use this gym at all times. It’s really frustrating for us as most the time we can only go late in the day. If anybody is to have an issue, there is no staff to assist after 10pm. I’m not saying that there should be staff at all times, but I think there needs to be an improvement. I’ve seen people struggle with this issue on different occasions as well. Never had this issue in other gyms.
Fantastic experience: gym can be very overcrowded but if you want to make it work then i think you can find a perfect time for your schedule as it is 24 hours.. yes it can be stinky and it gets horribly busy but its a good location gym that is open 247 at an affordable price, its expected. just do what you need to do and go home :) womens section is tiny though and could use some more signs for those that decide to prop themselves down in front of the free weights area. staff are nice and i always manage to get my workouts done one way or another. love that I can come at any time of the day too.

Negative experience: The worst gym ever. I had to leave as the air conditioning system was broken and the top floor smelled absolutely vile. Not the kind of environment you want to work out in. They got rid of the blue roll and anti bac spray as supposedly staff were supposed to come round and wipe down the machines regularly which was a lie. Not once did I see staff do this which meant the machines were constantly sticky ew. In the staff’s defence gym goers are adults, I think we should be given the resources to clean up after ourselves- I shouldn’t have to bring my own wipes! Not the gym’s fault but some of the members have no gym etiquette- decorum is free guys. They got rid of the kettlebells class earlier this year which was really unfortunate as the classes were quite popular (Gemma’s the best btw). It genuinely felt like management (whoever they are) had given up and it was reflected in the state of the gym. This gym was so convenient for me to get to it’s a shame I (and many others no doubt) had to be driven out by lack of cleanliness and just overall dire conditions. And no, don’t bother responding to this with the email of the branch.

Negative experience: This use to be my favourite gym. I went there for over a year. But now everything over there is absolute disgrace and the amount of poeple in there is overly crowded and insane. Poor air-conditioning left everything suffocated to breathe in that environment. The weights are always on the floors. And tbh the gym is getting worse. I might change my gym and will go to a different but better gym. Such a poor state right now in jd gym.

Negative experience: Its actually a joke for the not to be ac in the building when there's 100 people inside it at a time, I didn't sign up for a swimming pool. All your reviews talk about the ac not working and you keep saying you will fix it, but here we are with it still not fixed.

Negative experience: The air condition has not been working now for months! Half of the machinery is broken, there is no cleaning stuff so you cant even wipe down the machine before or after using it, its absolutely disgusting there. I speak to the staff and managers constantly and apparently everything is reported to head office just not much being done about it!!!

Negative experience: Fix your damn QR code scanner. I shouldn't have to be locked outside when trying to enter the damn gym for my first time. At the same time my wife shouldn't have to be locked INSIDE because she can't get out. QR code scans, green light shows, door doesn't open. Absolutely rubbish system. No staff available either. Terrible first experience. Absolute joke.

Negative experience: My experience at this gym has been deeply unsatisfactory. The most pressing concern is the lack of air conditioning. The facility is consistently overheated, making workouts uncomfortable. It is surprising that such a critical aspect of a gym environment is neglected. The state of the facilities is also concerning. The ducts frequently leak, and machines are often out of order for extended periods, sometimes remaining broken for months. The hygiene standards are inadequate. Previously, sanitizing bottles were available for members to clean equipment after use, but these have been removed. The responsibility for cleaning now falls entirely on the staff, and unfortunately, this is not done frequently enough. Additionally, the restrooms are often poorly stocked, with no toilet paper available on multiple occasions. The drainage system in the showers is faulty, causing water to overflow into the sauna area, which is both unhygienic and unpleasant. Another issue arises during later hours when male staff members are required to conduct routine checks in the women's section. While these checks are necessary, the execution is poorly managed. On several occasions, two male staff members have entered the women’s area within the same hour, unnecessarily disturbing our workouts. This situation is particularly frustrating as female staff have sometimes been available but not utilized for these checks. Furthermore, there is a noticeable lack of etiquette among some members. Weights are frequently left out of place, gum is left on machines and content creators in the women's section film without considering the privacy of others. In summary, this gym requires significant improvements in several areas, with air conditioning being the most urgent.

Negative experience: Gym is decent however its a literal hotbox. The humidity is unbearable they need to sort the AC out Another issue is the door/turnstile system. Once you scan in and arent able to enter the systems doesnt allow you to scan again. if you come past 10:00pm theres no staff to assist you so youre stuck

Negative experience: The concept of public health by provision of adequate air quality during the nights is not considered in preference of penny pinching. I have been coming to the gym for 3 weeks now and every night at 12am the air replacement fans are switched off, considering most days you have no less than 30 people inside the gym, it is appalling

Negative experience: This is 24/7 gym. Once you entry the gym around 12am and lock your backpack with keys to your car, house, your walet and jacket in a locker (theres only small note on the door about opening time). THEY WONT LET YOU OPEN THE LOCKER UNTIL 5AM!!!!. Moreover, once you leave the building to take a call to helpline (obviously they won't answer) the system won't let you get in to the gym for another 24h! Thank you JD GYM for great experience! I come back to you only to take my money back and never come back. Worst and the most ridiculous thing ever happened on the gym to me. Your safety policy didn't let me access my car and cards for 5h.

Fantastic experience: Just wanted to say that I’ve been to 6-7 gyms in Luton throughout my lifetime (a man in his mid 40s), and I’m hard pressed to recollect any memories of nicer, more helpful staff. I’ve been to gyms where the staff maybe have gym goes they’ve known for a long time so they naturally give all their time to those people and maybe, unknowingly, tend to neglect others. But, here they treat everyone the same. Of course, every place can do with some improvement or something they can work to be even better, but overall it has been a great experience.

Negative experience: Don't get me wrong, it functions as you would expect it to function, there's a wide range of machines, plentiful space in the freeweights area, and a spacious locker room (at least in the mens area). However, there are a couple suggestions that need to be implemented: Membership needs to be capped, this place is busier than Prince Andrew when he see's a vulnerable child. Speaking of children, there are too many that attend here, looking to socialise with friends rather than work out. It is expected for example on a Monday or Tuesday between the hours of 4-9, there will be 4 or 5 teens occupying the bench press for an hour, when it realistically could be done within 20 mins. Popular machines, such as the pec Dec and lat pulldown are limited, there is 1 pec dec and 3 lat pull downs. For a busy gym, this isn't enough. Oftentimes I have had to work in with 5+ people on the pec dec, which doesn't need to be explained why it's unacceptable. Etiquette from the members is shocking. Dumbells are invariably left on the floor, people leave their phone on a bench for 10+ minutes while going to potentially defecate, people move the dumbells around the gym and leave them strewn all over the floor. Belive it or not, I once saw a pair of dumbells on the floor upstairs, which baffles me. Avoid this gym if you go to the gym to work out. For any other reason you may attend, it's perfect for you

Negative experience: Shocking security at this gym , went to the gym around 10.30 pm today for the firtst time as i normally go in the morning , noticed every other members coming in through the security gates , 1 person was scanning there phones ,while the other slipped through with him .there is no staff there at that time ,so the system is being abused , the gym was jam packed , and over crowded, due to this alot the machines where unavailable .I am guessing half the people in there were not members. This is very unfair on paying members. JD gym really needs to look in to this .

Positive experience: Good gym, I’ve been going since last January. But the situation with the air conditioning needs to get sorted as soon as possible. These last few weeks the gym has been really hot and humid due to the warmer weather and the air conditioning isn’t making any difference in making the space cooler. The gym is a controlled environment so they is an expectation that when it’s warm outside you can happily be able to work out in the gym, this however is not the case at jd gym in Luton. Staff members have said that they are unable to change the temperature and that this is something that head office are in control of. So I’m asking that jd head office gets this sorted quickly as it will get even warmer in the coming months.

Negative experience: The pros: - Free parking for 3 hours and lots of parking spaces - 5 mins drive from my house Cons: - The women's section is right at the back and to get to it, you have to walk through the mixed gym which many of us hijabis would like to avoid. Just very poorly designed - the women's only section can get crowded due to being so small so you end up having to use the mixed gym. Whose idea was it to have the women's only section so cramped - There's also no disinfectant spray anywhere. The employee just uses water to wipe down the machines. - The male employee also enters the women's only gym and even the changing rooms!! At least have a female employee for the women's section.

Fantastic experience: I have been attending Runi's zumba and Bollywood classes since October 2022. Prior to attending Runi's zumba and Bollywood fitness classes I was not in a great place with my physical health and mentally I felt constantly drained out. I would always feel tired and felt like I had nothing to look forward to and generally felt uncontent. Since attending Runi's fitness classes I feel better within myself. My physical health has improved and after every class I feel like my body has released happy hormones. I've even had family members cracking jokes asking if I've just had a happy pill. I can honestly say Runi is the best fitness instructor I have come across. She is very welcoming and knows how to level with all ages and ethnic backgrounds. She is very encouraging with health and fitness and knows how to have a laugh, very down to earth and a grounded person. Her classes are so fun, particularly when her classes are moderately at full capacity.. Let's be honest here, when us ladies get together we really feel like we can let go of ourselves. Zumba and Bollywood fitness with Runi are the highlight of my week!

Negative experience: Disappointed with the layout of the women's area. Hardly any room for mats, which means people workout right in front of the one squat rack. Making it unusable for exercises such as hip thrusts, deadlift etc. This is a regular inconvenience which is making me (and many others) reconsider membership here

Negative experience: Bring back runi c Zumba
Positive experience: Not a bad gym for a women, however the ladies section is very small. There isn't enough space for you to do your own workout on a mat and youll find yourself waiting a while for your turn even during non peak time. As for the studio well this is usually filled with men, so atm feels more like any other gym out there. I appreciate JD took women who like their privacy into consideration but this just feels like a tease. The sauna again is small so better get there at a decent time if you want in. The entire downstairs is basically for men even though its not. Not sure about the layout of the machines, there are waaay too many cardio machines which in my opinion could have easily been replaced with equipment from downstairs. I felt like a fly tryna find her way out downstairs definitely not women friendly but overall this gym does have a bigger variety of machines unlike pure gym, you just gotta find your way to them. Oh and they have a hand washing station which is a nice touch

We are of course limited in terms of available space by the size of the building, so we've carefully designed the gym to offer something for a wide variety of gym-goers, including those requiring a female-only space for religious/cultural reasons. If you can make use of the wider gym, we'd urge you to do so as this is certainly intended to be for people of any gender. It's also important to note that we've only been open 3 days and there is the inevitable rush as new members come to try out the gym. Things will naturally settle over time. Take care JD GYMS

Negative experience: Unclean areas especially in changing rooms and far too often the sauna switches off and have to wait for staff to switch on. More staff are needed.

Negative experience: This gym lacks basic necessities such as toilet paper . I went in the gym at 10pm ( 2 hours before the changing room close) and I realised ALL FOUR cubicles had no toilet paper! I kindly informed the cleaner who was on duty at that time and she looked me dead in the eye and said “it’s finished” with a smirk on her face , I then proceeded and asked her if she could open the main gym toilets early (presuming there would be toilet paper in there) instead so for anyone who would like to use the toilet they can use a toilet with toilet paper, she replied “No it opens at 12” (bare in mind this was at 22:00) and carried on doing what she was doing this woman did not make any effort ! To even go Downstairs even or in any of the toilets in the gym to look for some spare toilet paper for the remainder of the 2 hours the changing room was going to be open she just looked away and laughed. I have seen a lot of complaints about this cleaning lady and I have seen her argue with many gym members. Her attitude and customer service is awful, how can you laugh at someone for asking for toilet paper ? And still continue doing what your doing ?! What is her job there then ?! This lady needs customer service training or she needs to find a new job, I understand that stocks can run low at times but the fact that she made no effort to 1. Open the main toilets 2. Borrow from other toilets (so your telling me tomorrow all day there will be no toilet paper ?!) or atleast even LOOK for some , she just turned around and laughed was very rude ! There was also no signage or anything stating that this toilet will not have toilet paper I expected better from such a big known name like JD gyms , this needs to be sorted out ASAP (This incident happened 3/03/24 22:00pm)

Positive experience: A friendly gym - both staff and gym members. The gym is convenient for many local residents with a large shared car park on the retail park. Having been a member since it opened there are some criticisms I feel obliged to share. Firstly it has advertised a ladies only gym - this is tiny with few cardio and strength equipment and often very crowded. Given the population it serves I feel that thus was just an afterthought. The ladies gym can easily be doubled in size. Furthermore it is advertised as 25 hours but the ladies gym is locked at 11pm I have been told. This is a really poor practice and I would say discriminatory. Secondly the gym is very busy in the evenings which means that a 1 hour weight training session can take hours! If you factor in cardio and shower the you u run the risk of being fined as the car park is only a 3 hour stay. Finally there is a lot of broken equipment which doesn't look like it gets fixed - notably treadmills and equipment in ladies gym. We all pay for membership so having sufficient equipment is really important. The gym can easily be doubled on size with a floor just for women. I wonder if jd read these comments

Positive experience: **Disappointing Experience at JD Gym Luton** I recently visited JD Gym Luton and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. One of the most concerning aspects was the overcrowding. The gym was packed with people, making it difficult to navigate between machines or find a spot for my workout. Moreover, the cleanliness of the gym was subpar. I attempted to use a running machine, only to find it covered in sticky sweat from a previous user. This was not an isolated incident, as many of the machines and surrounding areas appeared neglected and in need of a thorough cleaning. As a paying member, I expect a certain level of hygiene and maintenance to be upheld. It's disheartening to see such disregard for cleanliness and member satisfaction. A simple solution could be to provide paper towels and disinfectant spray near each machine, allowing users to clean the equipment before and after use, thus maintaining a cleaner environment. I urge the management at JD Gym Luton to take immediate action to address these issues. Implementing stricter cleaning protocols, providing cleaning supplies for members, and better crowd management strategies would greatly improve the overall experience for members. In conclusion, my visit to JD Gym Luton was far from enjoyable. Until improvements are made, I cannot recommend this gym to others looking for a clean and comfortable workout environment.

Fantastic experience: It’s better then PureGym there’s some great equipment that is very useful and it’s near from where I live which makes it easier for me thank you JD GYM for making my life easy and enjoy and feel great as I enter in peace and ready to workout as well

Negative experience: Hygiene is very poor at the moment. There have not been tissues or sanitising liquids available for the last 2-3 weeks now. Equipment therefore is not being wiped down after use.

Positive experience: Equipment is very good however the free weight area for bench use is quite dangerous.. i have tripped afew times as the benches are too close to each other and often have to wait to do my set if there is someone using the benches in front on both sides... sometimes whilst doing my set people walk past soo close leaving the fear they might knock into me whilst weights are in use...

Negative experience: Hi I have concern about the inappropriate use of lockers at the gym. It seems some members treat them as personal property, limiting fair access for others. I kindly request your prompt intervention to address this issue and ensure equal locker availability for all members. I previously raised concerns about the misuse of lockers at the gym, and though I spoke with a staff member about the issue, there hasn't been any noticeable change after a week. I kindly urge you to address this matter promptly to ensure fair access for all members.

Negative experience: Been a member since the opening. Gym equipment is deteriorating and members are pre locking the lockers which is not fair for the others.

Negative experience: Absolutely used to love coming to this gym for the first 6 months, unfortunately the gym doesn’t upkeep its standards and it now smells like male faeces after midnight and don’t be fooled by 24-7 gym if you’re a woman, they close the changing rooms and ladies gym after midnight, when it’s the most important time to feel safe..

Negative experience: What a over crowded gym. My normal gym I go to is the JD in Milton Keynes. I tried this as a plus membership. You can't even find the space to workout its that crowded. Better to go to the cheaper one in the Galaxy.

This is correct, we don't allow any vehicles inside the gym. You can secure your scooter outside of the gym in the car park, as you would with a bicycle. JD GYMS

Negative experience: It’s not a very safe place to park if you stay over three hours you will get a ticket I’ve got four tickets from there which they are trying to take me to court.
Hey Nick, The retail park allows you to park for 3 hours maximum. Please stay under this time to avoid receiving a parking fine. JD GYMS
Positive experience: An average gym with a few issue. Pros: Lots of equipment. The cardio area is normally always free and not too busy. There is also a ladies only gyms for those who prefer. Due to its retail park location there’s lots of parking. Cons: Despite the gym rules saying you should clean equipment, I have been here on many occasions where the tissue and spray has not been put out. Another problem I have is that the air con is never on early in the morning and the studio isn’t open. Considering there are other budget gyms in the area that have air con on at all times I have an issue with this. I am sure if these problems continue people will take their money elsewhere

Negative experience: The equipment at the gym is good and plentiful. However, it is oversubscribed and is generally too busy at peak times. The access turnstile reminds you of a prison and is temperamental. The majority (not all) of the staff are surly at best and generally quite contrary. This is from management down. The cleaning needs to be more frequent, particularly the changing rooms, the showers and the sauna. The reason for this is that many of the members lack basic gym etiquette. It’s not the job of the staff to teach the members basic manners but it is their job to maintain a clean and healthy environment. Hopefully, senior management will take steps to address the issues as it does have the makings of a good gym.

Negative experience: Deteriorated since when it opened up. Sauna closes early And no welcoming staff to help. It will lose customers rapidly if it doesn't improve. Went yesterday and the log in didn't work through the normal app. Staff suggested my payment didn't go through is the reason which was embarrassing but when I persisted that it's not possible he checked and after finding out that this wasnt ghe case, rather than apologising he changed my password on his device!! The customer services at its lowest!!! Staff needs a refresher about how to treat customers politely and with dignity. JD needs to facilitate customers and not make them feel unwelcome. I am disappointed yet again! Gave them two stars before now they are down to one!!!

Negative experience: Batteries are not being changed in some machines not even looked at plus it seems the current management is not running it professionally ...theres always short of staff machines are dirty and if you need to speak to staff you wont be able to catch them until few days of after chasing them.

Negative experience: I like to do my own freestyle workouts, sometimes following along to a YouTube video. Unfortunately there’s no free space to workout with a mirror. There is a large studio but i have to time when I go to the gym because you can’t use studio when classes are in session. Also it seems they are not replacing lost/stolen/damaged equipment. There used to be 3 hip thrust boxes now only 2 and all of the barbell pads were missing so I’ll need to buy one of those to take with me. Get what you pay for really
