Fantastic experience: Brilliant gym friendly staff good leisure centre

Negative experience: Awful time....slide not in use, wave machine not working and cafe shut and then member of staff had to mop floor, fairy enough, but instead of lifting chairs decided it would be more fun to kick chairs to the side ..... seriously

Negative experience: This place is a scam and is false advertisement just by coming to tides , staff were rude and I would never come back even if they paid me. The waves and big red slide was a disappointment and the place is a failure just to hear slide has been closed for 4 years and the waves have not worked since 6 years. I would give this place 0 stars if I could but I can’t.If you can fix your problems that everyone is complaining about then fix it and fix the rust and broken tiles

Negative experience: The staff were very pleasant, but I was not impressed by the fact that the waves weren't working, the big slide was not in use, and quite a few areas were in bad condition (rusty) floating broken off bits of tiles and the pool didn't really feel that clean. None of this information is given before booking !!

Fantastic experience: Great fun friendly staff to be fair it should be long 1 and half hours is not long enough considering it does cost a lot and if your a family of 4 and all your gonna get is 1 and half hours that's not good. Maybe 2 and half hours who knows. But apart from that I still go it is fun. The food part there's no cash its card only but the lockers are 20p so you need cash as well as a card. But over all very good lots of fun still go and support your local sports centre.

Negative experience: Broken slide, broken waves, broken slushies machine, no bells and whistles, no real point in visiting unless you want the smell of chlorine and a shower.

Negative experience: Have sent one son through swim school with no problems. Had a second one start in the last year. Have spent thousands over the years with these clowns and they were happy to collect their Direct Debits while there were no issues. As always, you should judge an organisation on how they behave when things get slightly tricky. We cancelled one of our subs in person but they continued to collect it for months. When we flagged this, they pointed to small print. Congratulations on losing another 6-7 years of subs from us for our other kids because of a complete lack of discretion, common sense or human decency. Absolutely awful experience with their "customer service" - in quote marks because they don't care about customers and there was certainly no service.

Negative experience: Paid £18 for 2 adults ( no reduced rate for pensioners.) Was very disappointed as that pool was packed and you could hardly swim. The flumes were still out of order and there were no waves. Children were jumping in everywhere and I was even asked to move out of the way by one father so his son could jump in! Another child jumped over our heads while we were standing by the edge! On top of that I nearly got hit in the face twice by 2 people who were standing at either end of the pool throwing a ball. We shall think twice before we visit again.

Positive experience: My son loves it here but it has really got run-down now. Main slide and wave machine not working, high level cleaning desperately needs attention, changing rooms rarely, if ever cleaned with disinfectant so the floor are slimy, grim and disease-ridden. It’s a shame because there just aren’t the standard of pools in the uk that you find abroad.

Negative experience: Went to Tides today. Wasn’t expecting anything amazing as aware the building is now old and tired, and lacking some badly needed investment. £17 for one adult and one child. Unfortunately there is now almost nothing there worth visiting for. The pool wasn’t great, quite dirty. Underneath, where many years ago the wave machines used to be, was filthy. Pool was also busy, as pretty much everything there is now broken. Jacuzzi pool barely working, two other slides around 2,5 meters long, actually had queues. Main flume out of order, looks badly work out. Apparently ‘planned maintenance’, but judging by other reviews it’s obviously been out of action a while. Sadly a waste of money. Staff were fine, but the place just needs closing down till it gets the investment it needs.

Negative experience: Today we visited Tides Leisure centre. The children were really excited as on online pictures of a water flume & slides looked really good. On arrival we were told that the only flume is closed. The wave machine didn’t come on once & I found the facilities dirty. The lockers took your 20p every time they got opened. It was an expensive trip for 1 hour. We didn’t use our two hour time slot as the kids were bored & we were cold. Considering it was £39 for the whole family to get in I think that was pretty expensive for just a visit to a pool when we already had a pool at our holiday park which was free. Very disappointed.

Fantastic experience: My son has just started having lessons with Jane in 4 lessons he has learned so much from her, the way she teaches children is amazing. You should be proud to have her on your team.

Fantastic experience: Just want to highly praise, Jane my sons swimming teacher. She is great with all of her class and my son is now swimming all the way without stopping and thats down to Jane. Highly recommend tides for swimming lessons.

Positive experience: Such a shame they don’t fix the long ago broken wave machine. This is a big part of this place’s USP so why not fix it? The big slide was only open for a few minutes of our session which was disappointing. The water was quite cool which was not fun as it was freezing outside. My biggest gripe though is how dirty the changing rooms were. The floors have dirt all over them and everything needs a good deep clean in general. Giving 3 stars, as despite all my personal disappointing points, my 2 children and a friend had a fab time. Please invest in fixing the wave machine and I am sure you will see a surge in visitors and could even charge a little extra.

Negative experience: Hi, reasoning for my 1* review is based on the tides I remember. Yes it would be going back 20 years. The name needs to change, looking a past reviews and staff advice, the "Tide" Machine has been broken for at least 5 to 8 years. It's should be called "Slides" as there is no tide.. The session times don't work well! We paid £30 for 2 adults and 2 x 12YO plus a 9YO for 90 mins, adults gave up after 40mins. The Slides and activities inside the pool have not changed but decreased in fun due to the way its been run, the kids can't even jump off the ledge anymore in to the water . I travelled with my kids from perth Australia and told them how awesome tides is. Well. Our pool at home has more wave and heating and that's outside Don't waste your time. Choose a water park

Negative experience: No wave machine anymore. One slide thats very slow. Cafe just serving chips and closes at 3.30pm.

Fantastic experience: The first time we visited, and it was very clean.The staff is really friendly, and the price for the splash pool is only 7£ per adult

Fantastic experience: Toddler session was great - lots of inflatables and slides to play on. A gently shelving pool so children can walk in themselves and play at a depth which suits them. Clean facilities and attentive staff. Would definitely recommend.

Positive experience: Still great fun after coming back after 20 years. Friendly staff, clean environment. The kids loved the simple slides. It's a shame about the wave machine not working, but otherwise we had lots of fun

Fantastic experience: Was worried due to all the negative reviews but we had a great time with my 4 year old. All the slides were working, staff were super chatty and helpful (particularly the receptionist). Pool was a good temperature and not overcrowded, couldnt have asked for more!

Negative experience: Rude staff and customer service, said we wasn’t allowed to swim in the deep end because people were doing lanes but on the website they didn’t say lanes were on that day

Negative experience: was very disappointed as i booked a slot that strictly said no lane swimming then got in the pool and got shouted at for swimming past people because they was swimming lanes think this was very rude and bad customer service

Negative experience: An hours wait to go into pool and had to wait 10 minutes for cafe staff to appear from behind the kitchen to realise I needed serving not good service at all

Fantastic experience: I often come swimming during the Open Pool. It's a relaxed atmosphere and give's me time just to swim

Negative experience: This place is not worth 1 star Dirty and smelly changing rooms. Too many people swimming at once Swimming pool was cold . Slide open just shuts 5min later Small slide was not open No wave machine For the price it costs for family ,i wouldn't bother .

Positive experience: It's a great place for a good price, but when you book they're are 200 spaces. It's too many people for the area and when you've got small kids with older children jumping into the pool you don't really have anywhere to go.

Positive experience: My toddler loves coming here with all the slides and we all have fun. The only thing I woukd say the changing rooms are either super hot or super cold and has been smelling for some time now.

Fantastic experience: Our first visit today, super surprised by the *1 star review because in comparison to Kingsmead in Canterbury or Faversham Pools, this was immaculate. Friendly reception staff, very clean changing rooms, warm pool and the kids loved it! Free parking too. What’s not to like?!

Negative experience: Dirty, un organised, nothing work wave pool broken, barriers up everywhere slide open for a short time window with staff sitting on the edge with both feet up on railing dangerously, the staff i mean children dont even watch your children just play with their silly whistle , with exposed wire not cover on slide lights the site is dangerous and that because the children are not trained waste money and the booking well that a joke on it own with rude staff on desk with no brain to help i hope when the place get knock down they get new staff in who wants a job. Not job worth who got bullied so are now bullys

Negative experience: Poor customer service we made a booking but realised we need to cancel straight after making it. No phone line to refund then read in their T&Cs they don't give refunds for online bookings and reserve the right cancel activities and not provide a refund. Been to the pool once and its dated. Just seems they want to take money and don't reinvest in the facilitates.

Negative experience: Avoid for a fun pool as described definitely better to travel a bit Check by phoning them first No slide working, wasn't the last time I was here too No wave machine. Cafe just serving drinks and chips.

Fantastic experience: I'm been using the gym over few years. The staff have always been professional & friendly. The reception staff have always had a smile when entering the building & sorted out any problems. We'll done to everyone at tides.

Negative experience: Awful online system, noone answers the phone got a call back 2 hours later and the pool was full. Very bad customer service

Negative experience: This facility is very outdated and requires a lot of work. Several of the changing rooms were closed making it so busy we stood around waiting to change. There are very few family changing rooms. The waves aren't working; the main slide isn't always open. Getting changed after swimming is horrendous because its so busy and kept so incredibly hot that it's almost impossible to get dry. And finally the cafe is expensive and not particularly allergy friendly. We have poor choices for swimming in this area which is why we end up coming here.

Negative experience: Ordered some food after our swim. They gave us our burgers which had mould growing on them!!!

Positive experience: Fun pool, hasn't changed in years. Wave machine and a water slide.

Positive experience: Great fun slides for the kids big and little, a good price for entry. shame the waves were out of order but don't think the kids even noticed there were none. Lifeguards are fab and quick to stip any issues arising. Felt very safe for all the kids.

Fantastic experience: Had some great memories from here as a kid, and was amazing coming back as a parent. Can't wait to visit again with my daughter. We loved every minute of it.

Negative experience: Not a great experience with customer service. They lack empathy and any sort of understanding of personal situations in these times.

Negative experience: No phone number for the actual swimming pool. All their phone numbers are redirected to their offices offering assistance Mon-Fri. Quite useless if you need your booking confirmed on a Saturday or Sunday. In our case the booking was made on a Saturday afternoon for Sunday. Although the payment was successful and confirmed by their third party pay system, it was also stated that it is the centre's responsibility to confirm the reservation itself which didn't happen until Sunday at around 9am. We were left in limbo not knowing if we've got the places or not and no means to contact the swimming pool to ask for confirmation. This is especially frustrating when you have a party of six travelling for 45min to get there.

Fantastic experience: Excellent. Went with my 2 yo twins they loved it, not too busy either which was perfect.

Negative experience: I recently opened a junior splash membership for my 3 year old daughter, I booked her a slot online however I didnt book myself a slot assuming that the adults were automatically added as she has paying membership and thats what I read when purchasing the membership. There was no prompt or information in the session bookings... so I drove 40 mins to Deal for us to get there and be told that because I hadn't prebooked myself separately we wasn't able to swim as they were at "full capacity" and I couldn't just simply purchase, was told to sit and wait 15 mins to see if anyone leaves... I waited the 15 mins, 20 in fact and then had to explain to my 3 year old who has learning difficulties that we won't be swimming today and she was very emotional, I tried to keep my composure however once I got to my car I broke down before leaving... thanks for the experience yourleisure... tides...

Negative experience: The new online booking system has ruined this swimming pool for us. We used to go all the time, just turn up and swim. Now everyone has to book online, there is no other option. Wake up and the kids want to go swimming, spend half hour trying to navigate a difficult website to the find out it’s booked up for at least a week in advance. I wonder how many people book just in case the want to go and don’t show, leaving no spaces for everyone else.

Negative experience: Very rigid staff, my manager said so kind of place. Not very customer oriented. Pool is ok.

Fantastic experience: Superb pool. Don't believe any of the poor reviews on here, they're so unfair. Changing area was clean, showers good, pool fab. Great log flume and smaller slides, our 10, 8 and 6 year olds loved it all. Great disabled facilities too, lift, big changing rooms and wheelchairs that take the user into the pool. Would highly recommend xx

Positive experience: Went swimming with my friend and her kids. The kids had a great time but they complained the slide was really slow and had to pull themselves along and the wave machine wasn't on which was disappointing but they had fun with a ball they brought at the shop.

Negative experience: Could do with a major refurbishment to keep it current with other gym facilities. That said, tennis facility is pretty awesome- shame that it is very under-utilised, more work is needed to promote the sport and get people playing.

Fantastic experience: In the present situation we have Tides are exemplary. I have no problems going in for group activities, sanitising and social distancing is excellent.

Positive experience: I love tides and I have made alot of childhood memories there x when I go there , there isnt many people so its 10 times as fun x and in my opinion I think the dip and dine could also be on Saturdays cause fridays and Tuesdays are school days so some people are unable to go there x overall tides is amazing Xx

Negative experience: Over priced and tired. Expect to pay for everything including parking and 20p non returnable lockers. Please also note the price document on the website as it's incorrect and not all prices are available at all times (not clarified). The "manager" apparently saw my point but didn't feel that meant as a representative of the brand that he should do anything about it. I suspect the contract owners "your leisure" are now just squeezing as much money out of this contract now before they lose it, similar to how they treated Dover leisure centre. Won't miss them when they are out the area.

Fantastic experience: Having read some of the reviews on here I was expecting it to be really cold water and dirty changing rooms but I took my 18 month old niece today and we loved it. The water was just right and everything was really clean. All of the girls working were really friendly too xxx

Negative experience: Far to cold for younger children . Daughter is only 17 months old. And within half an hour she was blue and clinging to us for warmth. Whilst showering a lady had said the swimming teacher had to pull their son out from a swimming lessons as he was shivering . Not worth the money .

Positive experience: Good for smaller kids & those learning to swim. There's lots of shallow area for water fun and confidence building. Those older will love the wave machine & bigger slide. No swimming lanes & during busy times, it can get quite full in the deeper water area.

Negative experience: Cafe area far too hot, was like a sauna. Water was really cold and grandchildren couldnt stay in for long. Grandaughter aged 16 months went blue. Not acceptance.

Negative experience: The only thing that keeps this place going is that there is no alternative locally. The extortionate price charged for entry and any lessons is certainly not spent on improvements to the place. Reception staff rude and unhelpful.

Negative experience: Changing rooms were appalling floors so muddy so had muddy feet after coming out having to remove with a towel, could not get any female products anywhere on site from thier machines just community showers on entrance to pool so couldn't wash off with soap properly, waiting 15 mins before someone came to the cafe so we could get drinks....would not recommend coming here.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant place to take little ones. Level access to the water, flumes and a wave machine all for under £6!

Positive experience: Still the same after 25 years. Has waves, a water slide and bubble pool. Mushroom waterfall and that’s it. The main thing is, it’s clean and tidy and the kids love it. It could do with some money spent on it for sure

Positive experience: My children like it here. Fave swimming pool because of the slide and wave machine. Seating available for those who want to watch and not take part. Small cafe available. I have knocked off one star because it does get extremely hot and stuffy inside which hits you the moment you walk into the building, so I would recommend they build some form of air con or high opening windows of some sort. Apart from that it's a great place to visit with you children

Positive experience: The centre is abit old and tired however my children had a good time here at the fun time. There is a large slide and a few small ones. The wave machine is on a small amount and is fun in small doses. I would not recommend it as a ace to go if you wanted a serious swim however is fun for the little ones
