Negative experience: Won't be using this place again, getting a £100 fine for not typing my reg in when using the car park for to take my kids swimming, even though I provided receipts showing I paid for the time I was there. Absolute joke of a place and no way to treat customers

Negative experience: Been attending Fulwood leisure centre for years. Received a pcn after they have recently installed cameras. Advised they won't help as they have been installed since August. Outrageous. The squash court flooring isn't even. The roof is consistently leaking. A significant number of gym equipment is faulty. Avoid.

Positive experience: Could do with some new equipment like a new stair master but other than that it’s good

Negative experience: We’ve just received a letter from Fulwood Leisure Centre about parking in their car park, despite being members. This is the first letter we've received, and I immediately went to reception to sort it out. After emailing them, they responded by saying they’ve already sent it to debt collectors and can only reduce the fine by £20. This is absolutely ridiculous. We’ve complained multiple times about the foul smell in the sauna, the steam room not working, and yet now we’re slapped with an £80 fine? That’s completely out of order. I will be withdrawing my membership and refuse to pay this fine. I’m more than willing to take this to court. To anyone considering joining Fulwood Leisure Centre, think twice.

Negative experience: Trying to pay for the car park on the pay to park app was a joke. Not to mention even having to pay to park in a leisure centre car park. Went to west view instead. Cheaper to swim and no car park fees.

Negative experience: I went for inquiring admissions and i asked about parking and were told that its free and no need to register however i got fine for 100£ Very stupid and ridicoulus place and staff are un professional,Dont know how you will get admission here when you will not guide properly.

Negative experience: Horrendous old Victorian pool which was freezing and was forced to just 25% of the pool as lessons were on

Negative experience: The decline in standards since Better took over continues. Changing facilities are an absoloute disgrace, broken doors in changing rooms, benches coming off walls so you cant sit on them so you have to put your socks on standing up, food found in lockers. Half eaten toast one week, rotten sandwich another week. How long they'd been there I dont know but cleaning seems an alian process since Better some years ago decided to pot all the specialist cleaners and leave it up to the overstretched skeleton staff. Pot hole riddled car park adds to the fun upon arrial. Swimmers at the limited times they can get in the pool are made to swim round in rectangles like goldfish regardless of numbers in the pool. Pool water is cold and extreamly choppy due to being insufficiently filled. The water rebounds off all sides instead of going over the top thereby creating waves. All in all very poor.

Negative experience: Dirty, they can't even be bothered to sweep up the squash courts

Negative experience: The pool was advertised at the date and time as a free for all swim. It was not , there was one lane for lane swim and 2 lanes for free for all. We paid £24 for 2 adults and 2 children. The water was absolutely freezing !! Us 2 adults couldn't stay in, his hands went white (white finger) straight away . The kids bared with it but lips soon turned blue and shivering. Other swimmers didn't stay long either. Money wasted. Won't be returning.

Positive experience: Bit dated now, but is ideally located and usually not too busy. Pools are always freezing and the showers are very open to everyone. Good little gym and plenty of courses to join.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant Leisure Centre. Everything you need. Helpful staff. Clean and tidy. All-round enjoyable visit.

Negative experience: Dirty changing rooms. Unfriendly staff Aqua aerobics instructor clearly didn't want to be there....very disinterested. Lockers out or order so had to leave bags poolside resulting in damp clothes from splashing when exiting pool. Pool had sharp tiles on the bottom. Don't recommend.

Fantastic experience: Kids loved the aqua play. Staff really friendly. Shame you can't use the dry changing room from swimming as it's safer for little ones. Overall tho a 5 star for the fun factor

Negative experience: We have just been to Fulwood leisure centre with out 2 year old little boy. The baby pool wasn’t open until 12pm so had to go into the large pool, it was absolutely freezing! We literally couldn’t stay in the water for longer than 5 minutes, our little boys lips turned blue and we got out. We complained but were just told that people who are swimming like a cold pool! What a load of rubbish! It was dirty and in major need of a revamp, we will not be going back!

Negative experience: I took my children swimming yesterday and honestly felt like we would have beeb better swimming in Blackpool sea. The bottom of the pool was slippy because it was that slimy and dirty. Can't be safe if you can't get grip to stand up. The outside of the pool was filthy, cracked tiles all around the pool. Changing area just had pools of water, no staff was trying to keep it clean. No change for the lockers and was told to leave bags at the side of the pool. You should state on the website if you reception doesn't have cash. The water was freezing and salty. You can't smell chlorine in the building or on yourself after swimming. It's just really dirty and I won't be going again.

Negative experience: Changing rooms smell of babies nappies. Very dirty don’t think they get cleaned. Needs a deep clean fast!

Positive experience: Staff on the desk are nice but they need to inform you when things are closed or closing. They let you get in and unchanged then close the pool 30 mins later or it could be closed

Negative experience: 1. Car park & entrance roads have massive potholes, which causes significant damage to cars. Will soon be making a claim. 2. Gym area does not even have clocks on the walls. 3. Centre shuts at 10clock but told to leave gym area at 9.50 just so staff can get out at 10 clock. Centre shuts at 10 for members, not for staff. 4. Staff start switching off tv's and machines as early as 9.25pm when gym closes at 10pm.

Negative experience: Not in good condition, outdated...needs a complete makeover especially the swimming pool. Looks depressing.

Negative experience: Pool staff watch swimmers like aliens. Standing four sides of pool . Stares at every swimmer very uncomfortable.

Negative experience: 26/2/23 had a booking for 2 o’clock for my 2 sons paid on line only had a £10 note on me no bank card asked to buy a swimming nappy and Change for locker the women on the counter said we don’t give change pay on card or come with exact Change HAD NO OPTION BUT TO LEAVE thanks fullwood swimming pool will not be returning

Positive experience: It was a big place. It has two pools. One for adults and one for children. But the most two important things that were obvious were the dirtiness of the floor of everywhere and the coldness of the environment of the pools.

Negative experience: Dirty and dilapidated. I can deal with dilapidated but not with dirty. Pools of stagnant water on changing room floors, rubbish, banana skins, bags and other stuff all over the place. Showers pretty poor. Some changing cubicles are standing only. No chair or bench. Have to put stuff on dirty floor and put socks on standing up. Final straw for me was I went for swim advertised as finishing at 7pm, but at 6.52 I was told by pool attendant it was time to leave. Please don't advertise something that's not true! If you say swimming till seven, that's when I expect to leave the water. I have been a champion of public pools for over 30 years, but if this is the standard for Preston, I may have to pay to go to a private gym with a pool, something I swore I would never do.

Positive experience: Despite having an overall good experience here, there were a few things to note that did make my last visit not as pleasant as it could have been. The swimming pool water was quite cold as was the changing room area and the showers next to the poolside. I understand that that's probably a result of the rising energy costs but to have risen the temperature even a couple of degrees would have made a big improvement. The changing area had a very strong smell of urine which was quite off-putting and this odor followed into the ladies toilets aswell. Apart from that, the pool was clean and supervised by attentive staff.

Negative experience: Disappointing first impression. The facilities generally seem ok, pool was a good temperature and seemed clean. Reception staff were pleasant and helpful. The changing rooms though.... They absolutely reek. There doesnt look to be any drainage so it's just pooled stagnant water you're stood in and it smells of urine. I doubt we'll be returning any time soon.

Negative experience: The staff is rude and unwelcoming. The pool has strict rules on where you can swim but you're not informed at any time about them. You will find out about them when the life guard shouts at you. Shao Lin life guard was being really rude and unclear to me while banning me from swimming in the deeper side of the pool, so I went to ask her about it. I have a stutter and, as a new foreign person, I also talk slowly. Shao Lin shouted at me because she did not have time to wait for me speaking to her and kept repeating that I did not want to understand her. I was embarrassed and ashamed as everyone was watching what was happening. I was forced to leave the pool after paying £10 for an hour. I do not recommend a place that treats clients like that.

Negative experience: Come here as slightly as cheaper than West view went in small pool with my 2 kids my youngest was shivering the whole time it was that cold, changing rooms even colder he was sick alover the floor when he got out shivering & crying. My fingers was also numb. They did enjoy playing and with the toys in there but think ill stick to west view next time.

Negative experience: Abosulutely poor, the centre is really poor since better taken over. AC doesnt work in summer, half the treadmill dont work and are switched off. No sign for out of order put as it would look so bad showing 13 out of 20 treadmills not working. You try taking out a membership for kids and the limited time offered they cant use as no gym instructor. Paying best of £50 a month for a gym membership dont bother, there are plenty of newer gyms out there which are alot cheaper. Everlast offering £10 a month everythign included...been member a Better for 28 years never been so disspointed.

Positive experience: Good local leisure centre, prices have gone up since privatisation, unless you buy a season ticket. Car park needs a good sweeping, especially round the side where you can walk through by the containers.

Positive experience: I use for the pool which had some work done just before the pandemic. It's ok, but simple things need to be improved. For example, they redid the flooring, but it's looking old and dirty and doesn't slope correctly in the showers so water pools instead of draining away.

Negative experience: I just don't understand how in this day and age, in England, you can get away with having dirty facilities. How can you justify having dirty changing rooms that smell....every single week, there's really no excuse. Get your cleaning rags on Fulwood Leisure Centre ....you have plenty work to keep you busy!

Positive experience: Good for swimming with the kids but it seems to be becoming quite dilapidated. Could do with a lick of paint and some new tiles

Negative experience: It's large and has a pool. It's also dated, the pool is dirty with cracked tiles in the floor. Changing areas are cold and dirty, showers are dreadful with no soap. Reception staff, while not unpleasant, are not friendly either. The only reason I go here is for my children's swimming lessons, but I'm looking to change the location.

Positive experience: £5 each for me and my son - not too bad considering we was in there for over an hour. Clean pools (we went in both) only thing that let's it down is the cleanliness of the changing rooms, the smell of urine was so strong, could do with a good scrub!

Negative experience: Complete waste of time. I took my daugher for her first swimming lessons and they were utterly pointless. The children are not shown any techniques at all - they just told what to do from the sidelines. My daughter just walked around for two lessons. It was cringeworthy. Nobody comes in the water with the child to help them gain confidence. I completely echo the review from Rebecca Utting. Also the swimming pool area is a little dated and not particularly safe from slipping and falling in. I have now taken my daughter to Penwortham leasure centre and they are a million times better. Avoid avoid avoid! Also they refused to refund any of my money so I wouldn't chance it if were you.

Negative experience: Took my daughter for her first swimming lesson today and it was a complete waste of time from beginning to end ! There was absolutely no information given before hand on what to expect or where to go on arrival with the children. The teacher came collected the children and parents where left to just stand around and guess where we were supposed to wait, found the viewing area and for half an hour my 4 year old who has no idea how to swim abd is frightened of the water was told to get in the water whilst the teacher just stood on the side shouting instructions at them There was absolutely no help whatsoever for the children that didn't know how to swim, no one in the water with them. The teacher never even bothered to find out the children's names ! Safe to say the remainder of the classes have been cancelled and I would absolutely NOT recommend these lessons If your child doesn't already know how to swim. It actually says on the website that someone will be in the water with your child and this IS NOT true. Complete waste of time !

Negative experience: Really really expensive for Badminton. £11.50 is London prices. Unfortunately couldn't make our booking due to a family emergency, so we tried to re book, but we couldn't. We tried contacting someone, but we couldn't get through, so we unfortunately had to cancel, as we didn't want to get blacklisted, but ultimately we lost us our money. What a terrible way to run a Leisure centre, especially when the physical and mental wellbeing of the community is a priority, apparently. I would advise anyone thinking of visiting or booking at Fulwood Leisure centre, to think twice, and avoid the place altogether. And looking at other reviews it isn't just me that is thinking this.

Negative experience: Absolutely joke this place.. can't get through on phone..website says you can pay in reception but when you arrive with your family then rude woman in reception tells you that she will not let go till you install app on your phone and book yourself in advance. Website is usless.. This BETTER company has ruined this place. Waste of time... Never again

Negative experience: My brother and his friend (and friend's younger sister) payed £5 to go for a free swim. Whilst in the pool the younger sister was asked if she could swim a length to which she said no and was told "its alright you can stay in the shallow end" then within 30 mins of them being in the pool they were asked to leave by another staff due to her not being able to swim the length despite her not even being in the deep end.

Negative experience: Needs a refurbishment, building and decoration is tatty and tired. Receptionist could do with learning some manners as well.

Fantastic experience: Noted today, covid rules not being followed correctly in female changing area. Going out of the pool and getting dressed in the wrong area. Also women washing their hair in the shower ?

Negative experience: Nightmare due to covid ! Children's lessons back on. Can't stay in the building whilst lessons are on so wait in car. If your child needs the toilet during lessons they will call you then go back inside to take them to toilet then wait outside the building again until lessons nearly finish. You have 10mins to get changed and leave ! Don't know why I bother.
