Our comment from FitFit UK about PureGym London Finsbury Park:
Welcome to PureGym London Finsbury Park, a large and affordable gym conveniently located in central London. Many visitors appreciate the wide variety of gym equipment available, which caters to both beginners and experienced fitness enthusiasts. The personalized training sessions provided by knowledgeable personal trainers are highly praised, with many members highlighting the positive and motivational atmosphere during classes.
However, some users have noted that the gym can become crowded, especially during peak hours, making it difficult to access equipment. While the classes and facilities are generally well-received, cleanliness appears to be a concern, with reports of unmaintained equipment and hygiene issues in certain areas, particularly in the women’s section and changing rooms.
Despite its drawbacks, PureGym London Finsbury Park is recommended for its valuable classes, supportive community vibe, and commitment to fitness.
- Pros: Good variety of equipment, energetic classes, knowledgeable trainers, affordable rates.
- Cons: Overcrowding at peak times, cleanliness concerns, maintenance issues with some equipment.

PureGym London Finsbury Park: Opinions
Positive experience: The Finsbury Park branch is so good, the variety of equipment is so good, any tutorial you have seen online, you will find it available do at the gym and the classes are phenomenal… each PT holds their own specialty one and the energy and vibe in each is so positive and driven it makes you want to keep going and pushing yourself to a desired goal- highly recommended
Positive experience: Its convenient and good for classes but the layout is strane and some of the people come in are overly loud for no reason. Also the women only area is always a mess no matter what time you go.
Fantastic experience: This is a shout out for Malcolm Brand - the best PT you can have. He made the lessons always enjoyable, helped me to improve my form and become stronger / fitter over time. Unfortunately, our sessions ended as I moved out of the area but would recommend to anyone looking for a knowledge, friendly and punctual PT!
Fantastic experience: Great class - best way to start the day!
Fantastic experience: Great classes. Good instructors. All for a affordable price.
Fantastic experience: Great gym nice equipment
Negative experience: It's really disappointing and I would advise anyone to not use the gym. Not only is it not properly maintained but it's dirty, too hot and the staff is barely around. One of the best places to get sick. – The machines have probably not been serviced for years. Especially the Concept 2 equipment –rower, ski, bike in the crossfit area– don't show correct split, have little or too much resistance. – Wipes and spray are little to be seen, and when you spot one, there isn't much liquid left. – Either the heating is broken or the Aircon doesn't work. Either way, it is TOO HOT to train properly in this gym. – I have yet to say hello to a member of staff despite having been at the gym at a different time of the day. You probably don't train them well either. Making someone use the rowing machine when they have pain in the back is a really bad idea. – The drains smell and it has stopped me from taking a shower in the premises.
Fantastic experience: The gym is good, lots of equipment. Some people tho have very poor gym etiquette, leaving barbells, dumbells, clothes, empty water bottles all over the place. If you use a piece of kit, put it goddamn back and carry your litter to the bin, don't be a slob.
Negative experience: Meanest and rudest staff ever! Cleaning stations not always filled. Very bad reception and wifi doesn’t work.
Fantastic experience: Manager MOSS is the real boss! Extremely kind, polite and attentive, thank you!
Fantastic experience: I've tried a pure gym Finsbury Park the 2nd time today and I was very satisfied
Negative experience: The worst branch I've been to. Bad gym etiquette from gym goers never luts the weights backs, plates, and dumbells all over the place. poorly maintained equipment ( never oiled bars), and clientele probably ruin it more than the workers Updated. Gyms worse than ever if that was possible . New years resolutions morons with no gym etiquette. Just taking your weight plates without asking if you finished on it . The worst, I'll go to another branch from now on
Negative experience: I think it would be good if you clean it properly. There is a lot of smell in the changing room of the bathroom.
Negative experience: A large gym with lots of areas, benches and machines. The worst gym I've been to for people putting their weights and equipment back. It's just left scattered all over the place in an annoying and unsafe manner. Not the staffs fault, just the people who use this gym.
Negative experience: Pay a bit extra for a full membership and you can enjoy Yanga water when the machine is working (about 20% of the time)
Fantastic experience: Been once, and I feel great to this day.
Negative experience: This gym is heaving with more people than should be here, is dirty in places and so many of the machines are broken in one way or another. It has made my home club, which I usually consider to be pretty awful, appear as somewhat of a haven - at least it is clean and the AC works. I shall sincerely do everything I can to avoid returning here.
Negative experience: Possibly the worst PureGym I’ve been. It looks and smells dirty, the machines are rusty and get stuck and the weights are never where they should be, leading to searching for plates around the gym. Cancelled straight away.
Fantastic experience: Leila is the Best trainer in North London
Fantastic experience: Amazing combat class and instructor!!!
Negative experience: This gym is DIRTY!!! Cleanliness and hygiene clearly is not a priority for the staff at the gym. First of all the sanitisation stations on the gym floor (of which there are nowhere near enough) are almost always empty of spray, or the paper has run out. The staff do not fill these up frequently enough, so you cannot wipe down equipment before/after use….gross. Second, the changing rooms and shower facilities are horrendous . The drains STINK SO BAD it makes me feel sick. The smell hits you as soon as you enter the changing rooms. And the showers are FILTHY, just look at the photos. The showers have a serious drain fly infestation, as I often find several flies sharing the shower with me in the mornings. The showers are not regularly descaled. Mould is growing in the cubicles, and they’re just generally filled with dirt and muck. Im a regular visitor to this gym and I often see the cleaners in the changing rooms doing no cleaning whatsoever, they just sit down chatting on the phone, clearly not talking about work. Ive never seen a cleaner present who actually cleans, and the lack of hygiene just reflects that. It’s absolutely disgusting. There needs to be a major overhaul in the cleaning/hygiene of this gym.
Positive experience: Can't complain, weights and cardio without the extra fluff (no saunas or pool), entrance is sometimes frustrating with entering code
Negative experience: Rules and hygiene are not given priority. The bathrooms are in bad shape. Both soap and hand sanitizer are hard to come by. Weights are not racked after use. Few if any people wipe down equipment.
Negative experience: The worst gym ,the a/c system is just so bad, just blowing like in the hell ,it's so bad that there is no climate control ,like must be!!!
Fantastic experience: Moss class was such a good full body workout thank you!
Positive experience: Changing rooms smell like the portaloos at the end of a 3 day festival (every time I’ve been there 20+ times), there’s a cool down timer on the water machine, missing/broken carabiners etc. Read the fine print of membership carefully, it ends up being as expensive as any other gym if one of the gym locations you want to visit is in the city. Good amount of floor space here though.
Fantastic experience: Great gym, great classes and amazing Personal Trainers .
Positive experience: Good selection of gym equipment. Loads of Dumbbells. Could do with a few more benches. Basement was very hot, one of the AC units was broken. The off peak price is well worth the money and much better value for money than Better gym.
Positive experience: Where has the Monday evening spin gone it was always full and there is nothing on after work time that is the same on another day or time
Negative experience: Random dumbbells strewn across the floor, making it near impossible to find what you need. The temperature that of a sauna. Gym etiquette does not exists in this Puregym. By far the worst I’ve visited.
Negative experience: It’s a puregym so I didn’t expect much. Aircon is either OTT or non existent People don’t put their weights back at all. They’ll use dumbbells on the other side of the room in a squat rack and then just leave them there Why is there never soap? It’s a multi million pound company, yet they water down the soap so much it’s virtually non cleaning? For post covid times and people sweating/lounging with their hands down their pants, it’s grim you can’t properly wash yours. There’s also a new class now upstairs in the main stretch/open area. Not sure why it has to happen there when there are designated studio spaces for classes. We now cannot use that space, and instead have to use the mats in the walkways, or just not use the ski/ropes. The music for this class is also disgustingly loud. They play it over the main speaker in the upstairs gym, and if you’re in that area you just can’t hear yourself think or your own music. It’s a bit selfish and makes me walk out. The audio levels are usually fine but when this class is on it’s just uncomfortable and so bassy. I’m not the only one that thinks this as when in there this week, a few were talking about it and getting annoyed.
Fantastic experience: Amazing classes! Circuits might be my new favorite!
Negative experience: Small, crowded, bad ventilation, bad lighting, impossible to find weights, cable machines with broken or missing hooks more expensive than other better gyms
Fantastic experience: My regular gym, comfortable and small
Positive experience: The equipment is good, there is usually a wait for the machine chest press and lat pull down machines. During busy periods you will struggle to find a bench in the free weights section so avoid going then. It’s DIRTY. Members do not put weights back and walking around the gym can be a hazard. The women’s changing room/toilets ALWAYS stink badly. The staff are cool, very laid back. Recently froze my membership whilst I look for a new gym because the hygiene from its members is disgusting. Do not use water fountain as many people out mouthes on. That is chewing gum even on the water function members pay extra for.
Positive experience: Good space, however always packed and also too hot inside
Positive experience: One of the bigger London pure gyms. Has the classic, slightly-warrenous vibes. But definitely more equipment than most (including the hydrobeds). Have only been a couple of times, but also seems less rammed than others. Managed to get on most equipment when wanted at evening rush hour.
Positive experience: PureGym Finsbury Park is a cheap-priced gym with a lot of space - surprisingly, it is not 100% set in a basement and has windows, but there is a major flaw. The staff is excellent - I have been a PureGym client for two years now and have been to many of their gyms around London, and this one was the first time a staff member greeted and smiled at me without knowing me, which is very welcoming and gives the idea that they care about their clients. The free-weight area is spacious, has many racks, and is suitable for Olympic and powerlifting. The functional area is also well equipped and has big windows - the same for the cardio area. This gym has three stars because of its tidiness, which seems to be everyone's fault - the staff and the clients. People come into the gym, use X equipment, and leave wherever and however they feel. The dumbells are all disorganised; the benches are displaced, and the racks have barbells with plates on them led on the floor. No one seems to have a sense of gym etiquette, and the staff - which is not absent - is not proactive. Either they think it is okay - which isn't- there are signs around the gym asking people to return their weights to their exact place or leave the areas used tidy for the next person, or they are just intimidated or not okay with confronting those who don't respect the gym's rules. It is an issue with many gyms like this one; different gyms have ways to deal with this situation. Hoxton PureGym, e.g., writes big signs on the dumbbell mirrors asking people politely to return their weights, and they will approach those who need to tidy up after themselves and ask them to do so. It is an urgent issue PureGym Finsbury Park has to fix, and there is no excuse.
Fantastic experience: Happy with the service at the gym. Eventually we have a great news about one opening in seven sister station, only five minutes from my home I can’t wait to start there. This Pure gym
Negative experience: Machines are not bad..., but was very stinky, even before to open the main door you can feel the smell!!
Positive experience: Ceiling quite low so overhead exercises are quite risky. Otherwise, a great gym perfect air temperature for recovery and breathing.
Negative experience: So many V.I.P trainees there who occupied the locker forever as private, perhaps they purchase the private locker membership or something which doesn't exist. And never put any equipments/weights away. How they can be arrogant or selfish to train like their home gym. I have been to some gyms for a long time but here is the most unpleasant gym ever. Only the reason I go to the gym is just convenient location. Those trainee doesn't deserve using the commercial gym I believe. I am sorry, I don't usually review or rate any places in google but I can't be patient to write this anymore.
Fantastic experience: I recently joined PureGym and had a fantastic experience during my first week. The gym lives up to its advertised simplicity, and the staff is quite friendly. It's evident that everyone understands their role and purpose. However, like any service, there are always a few users who misuse facilities, regardless of how good they are. I would suggest that PureGym keeps a closer eye on certain individuals' behaviour, particularly in the changing rooms, regarding their use of language and cleanliness.
Negative experience: The culture at this gym is bad. The main floor is a boy’s club, and members shout, physically throw their weights (and forget to put them back), and hog equipment. The worst part is that the PTs and staff are part of this culture. With the exception of a few phenomenal staff members, there is a small clique who run the gym like it’s there just for them and their mates. There might be a sign on the wall with PureGym rules, but they are not being followed, nor are rule breakers held accountable by staff, as they’re all buddies. In addition to this, everyday there is a 50/50 shot whether the aircon will work or not, and there are simply not enough sets of weights or benches for the sheer number of gym members. Going outside of 9-5 work hours is nearly impossible, and even during the day (1-3pm for example) you might be waiting around for equipment. Lastly, neither WiFi nor 4G is reliable, and the cleanliness in the changing rooms/bathrooms is not up to par. The reason I joined this gym was due to necessity based on location and price, but I would highly recommend you look at The Gym or Fitness First if you are looking for a Finsbury Park alternative.
Positive experience: A good gym. Good equipment. As a woman I feel safe going alone. It can be really busy after work though and you will queue for equipment.
Negative experience: I don't know what is happening with this gym, a year ago it was not in these conditions, the air conditioning is non-existent and the air does not run, it is very hot and it smells horrible , the machines are damaged and remain damaged for a long time, the changing rooms They are very dirty, bad smell, toilet paper thrown everywhere, dust in all the corners there is dirt in every corner of the gym and the machines are not mentioned!! I will change from this gym just because of the negligence and the dirty
Fantastic experience: Great gym, staff friendly, lots of available machines, different exercise classes and the instructors are all amazing, love their unique styles. Massage bed is a nice touch!!
Fantastic experience: Great gym lovely staff great classes good local great access
Positive experience: Very nice I love that there is a ladies area its small but definitely better than better and better than nothing its to one side so its fully segregated
Negative experience: Always busy, no news. But, ti add to that: - Gym wifi does not work neither does mobile signal. - Air con has been terrible upstairs. - In the ladies only area there are no wipes to clean off the equipment after using.
Positive experience: Friendly staff, good range of equipment... however the cleanliness of the changing rooms and general weights area is poor. Lack of plates, disorder of free weights and lack of barbells. Equipment is rusting, broken clips on many cable machines and benches are very sketchy. Overwell super odd layout and lack of aircon.
Fantastic experience: The classes at this PureGym are great! Especially love the classes with Kevin, Catherine and Jermaine. They’re great instructors and are really enthusiastic during the classes! Would be useful to have a small cleaning station in the women’s only area bit and also maybe signs around for people to put the weights back as some people just leave the on the floor!!
Negative experience: Over crowded and air-con is broken again. Why has the ability to see the number of people in the gym been turned off the app? It works for all the other gyms.
Fantastic experience: Gym of champions. It has every piece of equipment you need to craft the perfect body, even obscure machines like hip thrust machine, hack squats and more. There are issues with how hot it can get but just see that as part of your training. They have implemented massive fans to combat this for the time being and it seems to work well enough. Great size and you can really go hard in the weights room in the basement. There's a female only section if you want to avoid the grunting with great equipment. I love it for the goals I'm trying to reach. If you're and older woman or someone who just wants a light workout to maintain a health standard you may be suited for PureGym in Kentish or Angel. If you're hardcore and want to get big, this is one of the best PureGyms for that but also accommodates for more casual gym goers if you can bare with nice but serious gym people.
Positive experience: It's ok. Weights and equipments are a total mess. No one puts them back. Also the air is very stuffy
Negative experience: So overcrowded even at 10pm - literally had to just go home because I couldn’t get the equipment I needed!
Negative experience: For the Love of God, please FIX THE AIRCON. For a month now the gym is unbearably hot. Not only is it disgusting, it is UNSAFE. PLEASE TREAT THIS AS AN EMERGENCY.
Negative experience: Way too hot to do any form of workout as the air con is never on. Seems ridiculous to be charging full price for the membership given that the gym feels like a sauna.
Negative experience: It is incredible that they open this gym in these hot conditions, it is horrible to be there for 5 minutes, I have not been able to train because I feel like I am getting heat stroke. Fix the air and ventilation, it smells horrible and everything feels damp, everything drips.
Positive experience: Good cheap gym - but busy! Needs work to be done on ventilation...
Negative experience: The aircon is broken so it’s like a sweat sauna in there, the air is stale humid and hot…
Negative experience: Has everything you need from a basic gym, apart from the fact that you can't work out because it's permanently way too hot inside. The aircon is never on and even just walking inside is enough to make you sweat. It's an absolutely impossible environment to work out in and it's clear that the owners don't care. The same complaints have been coming in for years now (read the other reviews) and nothing is done other than generic replies of "the AC is managed by smart meters but staff can override them if needed". They never do. The gym is constantly packed with about a hundred people, but the company can't afford to spend a few pounds a day on air conditioning. Spend your money on another gym. I'll consider revising this review when I can complete two sets without overheating.
Negative experience: TURN ON THE AIR-CONDITIONING!!!!!!!!!!! There's about 120 people in here, and no air-conditioning... It's dangerous. It's humid. It's horrid. Even the walls are dripping it's so humid and hot in here.
Negative experience: Everything is in pretty good condition, but it's pretty hot inside and for there's quite a bit of shouting
Negative experience: Crowded, dirty and stale. Crowded, as always, but now provides for Holloway members too, while repair works drag-on. Dirty, because it’s not well cleaned and overcrowded. Stale, because the air-con is broken, so it’s overheating with hardly any ventilation. Pure Gym, while you continue to take monthly payments, the state of this gym needs addressing.
Negative experience: Basically impossible to find a time the gym isn't completely packed. At least 1/3 of the time spent there is waiting for machines/weights to open up.
Negative experience: Don't know yet. I am going to sign up. So far, it seems great. I can't wait tobstsrt going
Fantastic experience: Very friendly, good atmosphere, good vibe, best massage machine ever
Negative experience: The new bikes are absolutely terrible. Seats are way too hard. Really not suitable for 45 mins spin class.
Fantastic experience: Great gym. Small compared to other gym but has all equipments provided. Even has a womens only area. Only down side, you have to go through the mixed area to go to the womens area
Hi RR. ZZ, thanks for taking the time to leave this review, we always appreciate and take on board member feedback. We want to provide our members with a safe space in which they can get a great workout in and do so, in a clean environment. To pass feedback on you can speak to the Gym Manager in the gym or leave a comment in the feedback box as this is regularly reviewed and will be taken into consideration for updates and improvements. It's great to hear you enjoy using the gym and the women's only section! Thanks, PureGym
Positive experience: Very busy gym but now is a good moment to start your membership here, they are renewing the gym whit a great new look whit autentik pure gym stile.
Hi - Thanks for taking the time to leave this review, we always appreciate and take on board member feedback. It's great to hear you enjoy using the gym overall. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by the gym being busy. We’re afraid it's true, our gyms simply are very popular and so can become busy especially at peak times, but this does fluctuate throughout the day and from day to day. To make the most of the space where possible, though, we are always looking to expand and improve our facilities. Members can also use the members area via the PureGym app or website, to see how many people are in the gym. Thanks, PureGym
Negative experience: Disgusting gym. They’re saving money on AC and ventilation. Smell is everywhere and you have nothing to breathe in during your workout. You even can’t find assistance to ask to turn it on.
Hi Maciej. Thanks for taking the time to leave this rating, but I'm sorry to see it's 1 star. We always appreciate and take on board member feedback. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. We would like to assure you that we are reviewing feedback and will ensure this is addressed in club. Temperatures/air con in our gyms are automatically regulated by Smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff may be able to override it and can certainly report it to be checked by engineers. Thanks, PureGym.
Negative experience: Location is good and there are lots of equipment and machines , I like the women only section but the place needs a good regular deep clean. I found a set of pink false nails shoved in a cross trainer and you can tell the floor has not been vacuumed for a very long time. Also the Aircon is non existent on some days. I will swap to another location as this place has too many bad points.
Hey Eva, thanks for taking the time to leave this review. We always appreciate and take on board member feedback, so we're glad to see there was some aspects of the gym you enjoyed. We'd like to apologise for any inconvenience regarding the cleanliness of the gym, we always aim to keep our gyms to a high standard for the safety of all members, but we can assure you your feedback will be taken on board. We're sorry to hear you may be leaving us, but we'd like to wish you all the best for the future! Thanks, PureGym
Positive experience: Its okay , but unfortunately when staff is out of the place it feels like a zoo. Young lads are coming in one and the whole gym smelling from weed.
Hi - Thanks for taking the time to leave this review, we always appreciate and take on board member feedback. It would really help us if you could get in touch directly with the Gym Manager/Member Services to provide more information (such as date and time or names etc.) so this can be properly investigated. Thanks, PureGym
Fantastic experience: Great gym but in need of refurbishment. Needs Stairclimbers / Stairmasters !
Hi Rishi, thanks for taking the time to leave this review! We are always keen to receive feedback so we can improve our service, but it would help us if you could get in touch directly to provide more information about where we may be able to improve. We'd love to talk to you in more detail, so if you have feedback the best way to pass it on for practical action is always to get in touch directly with the Gym Manager. You can approach them in the gym or leave a comment in the feedback box as this is regularly reviewed and will be taken into consideration for updates and improvements, or you can contact Member Services [email protected]. We wish you all the best with your future fitness goals! Thanks, PureGym
Fantastic experience: I've been to this gym many times as part of my weight loss program with Malcolm. He welcomed me to do personal training at this gym. The gym is complete. It has all the necessary equipment for training exercises. In addition to space for training one to one. I recommend, as well as training with PT Malcolm, polite and extremely competent.
Hi - Thanks for taking the time to leave this 5* review. We want to provide our members with a safe space in which they can get a great workout in and do so, in a clean and friendly environment. We are really happy to hear you enjoy using the gym! Thanks, PureGym.
Negative experience: Really disappointed as this was my first experience at a PureGym. I was there off-peak hours - 5:30pm on a Saturday and I could not find dumbbells between 4-10kgs nor 15kgs. Dumbbells were not in order, loads of them lying around with other equipment too. The room with treadmills was really hot! And there seemed to be no staff around. Wish I could go back as its close to home but I feel its not worth it unfortunately.
Hi Tyla - Thanks for taking the time to leave this review, we always appreciate and take on board member feedback. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. It is in the gym rules that members should return their own weights or risk suspension, but at peak times especially it can be hard to police this. However, staff on site do everything they can while we also have CCTV monitoring the free weights and are looking for new ways to combat this. Temperatures/air con in our gyms are automatically regulated by Smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff may be able to override it and can certainly report it to be checked by engineers. It would really help us if you could get in touch directly with the Gym Manager/Member Services to provide more information (such as date and time or names etc.) so this can be properly investigated. Thanks, PureGym
Negative experience: When equipment breaks it stays that way for a long time. Simple things like batteries being needed in the assault bike to use the monitor don’t get fixed. My friend went as far as putting in her own batteries to use it. A lot of the equipment is going missing and not replaced. Only one aircon unit has worked throughout this hot weather with no attempts to get the others working again. I’ve reported broken equipment to the trainers and the response is to inform the manager- you never see them and any feedback given gets ignored. It’s a shame as I’ve not heard of or seen other puregym neglected like the one at Finsbury Park.
Hi Laura - Thanks for taking the time to leave this rating, but I'm sorry to see it's 1 stars. Positive experience: I've been coming to this branch for over half a year now. The place is massive and offers large range of tools. The lost star is for the lack of dumbbells. There are only 2 pairs of each weight (only handful is in 3 pairs) and as the gym is split onto 3 floors, I sometimes find myself looking for particular weights all over the gym often not finding them at all. I'd recommend getting some to the stretching area as well as adding more of the mats. I actually only visit the gym at quiet times so I assume this gets even worse when it's busy. The flavoured water you get access to with premium is great and they finally list the flavours that are out of stock which helps. Massage chairs are great too, but it annoyed me when I found out that it says I can use it 10x a day when in fact it's only once. Toilets and showers are kept clean regularly and lockers are in a good shape too. There are vending machines for various products from drinks to snacks. And I appreciate the recent highlights of the health safety features as I believe that's very important.
Thank you for taking the time out to leave this brilliant review, Michael! We always aim to provide a broad spread of kit to cater to a range of fitness needs and meet demand as it changes through the day, and aim to get the balance right between weights and cardio. We're really pleased that you're happy with the equipment and the layout of the gym overall, and that you like the Yanga Water. Your gym manager reads all of the reviews and will take your feedback regarding the dumbbells on board; you can also leave a suggestion in the suggestion box in the gym. We hope that you continue to enjoy your time at PureGym Finsbury Park! Thanks, PureGym.
Negative experience: I wish the gym was better. It’s been too crowded during peak hours and when there’s a broke machine, it stays like that for ages, such as this one below that’s been broken for over 2 weeks now. A broken wire shouldn’t take too long to replace really. Also the carpet is not great as it smells and it’s dirty, should probably replace that with some non allergic material. May I also enquire why the air con doesn’t work at all across the gym? It’s too hot inside when there’s too many people and the Airton is a consistent problem for weeks now, it simply does not work, not air ventilation, or cold air circulation. It’s quite uncomfortable for people to be working out, heating up and not getting any air conditioned air really. Happy I’ll move away and will change gym completely
Thank you for your feedback, Roger! We're sorry to see that it's only 1 star. We’re afraid it's true, our gyms simply are very popular and so can become busy especially at peak times, but this does fluctuate throughout the day and from day to day. To make the most of the space where possible, though, we are always looking to expand and improve our facilities. To help plan your workout for a quieter time, we have a tool on our app which you can use to check the busyness at each period of the day and how many people are in the gym at one time. Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. If you have any concerns about equipment, please notify staff on site as soon as you can. Thanks, PureGym
Positive experience: I've only just started going here but am enjoying it. There is a wide range of equipment you can use and loads of exercise ideas on the app. The only reason I've given it 4 stars is because some of the equipment was out of order and the lady's only area is very small.
Hi there. Thanks for taking the time to leave this review, we always appreciate and take on board member feedback. It's great to hear you enjoy using the gym overall and that you've given us 4 stars. We hope your time with us continues to be positive! Thanks, PureGym
Positive experience: Gym has lots of equipments, but still crowded during peak time. Weights area need more dumbbell below 10kg. need to extend gym space or reduce number of members. Room height is a little bit low. Generally speaking, it is acceptable in Finsbury Park area.
Hi Kui, thanks for the message. We are sorry to see that you have rated the gym 3 stars. Please can you drop us a DM so we can have a chat to you about this rating and what we can do to improve our service going forward! Thanks, PureGym.
Negative experience: That gym is a big mass. Missing a lot of equipment! They just have 1 triangle bar 1 for all the gym. All the time the machines are broken. That is a shame for a brand like that.
Hi Octavio! Thanks for taking the time to leave this review, we always appreciate and take on board member feedback. We always aim to provide a broad spread of kit to cater to a range of fitness needs and meet demand as it changes through the day, getting the balance right between weights and cardio, but if you have any other/specific suggestions please approach the Gym Manager or leave a note in the feedback box, which is regularly reviewed. Thanks, PureGym.
Negative experience: Tried to create an account and your form doesn’t work. Doesn’t accept US postal codes and essentially when I showed up this morning no one was there to provide assistance so I essentially wasted my time.
Hi Colin, thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear about this. Please send us a message with your query via Member Services and we can then take a further look into this for you. Thanks, PureGym
Fantastic experience: I'm a member in the gym. it's a nice atmosphere in there. Clean. Cheap. Comfortable. A pleasure to come every morning Love going there! Thanks!
Hi Aron - Thanks for taking the time to leave this review, we always appreciate and take on board member feedback. We want to provide our members with a safe space in which they can get a great workout in and do so, in a clean and friendly environment. We are really happy to hear you enjoy using the gym! Thanks, PureGym
Fantastic experience: Very good gym for the low price you pay. I'm trying to avoid the peak hours because it could be harder to have machinery or weights free. The staff is friendly and the gym has everything you need to train properly and if you want to have classes they've got quite a few.
Hi Dmytro, thanks for taking the time to leave this review, we always appreciate and take on board member feedback. Members can use the members area via the PureGym app or website, to see how many people are in the gym. We want to provide our members with a safe space in which they can get a great workout in and do so, in a clean environment. It's great to hear you enjoy using the gym and have got a little routine back! Thanks, PureGym
Negative experience: Not really a gym I would go to if I had any other choice. And charging £27 per month is extortionate. Update 4 months later: if any machines are broken they stay that way for at least a month. The classes have music on blast at deafening levels, as someone with sensory issues I find it impossible to train on the same floor when one is on. Unfortunately stuck here as no other gyms in the area.
Hi Simona - Thanks for taking the time to leave this rating, but I'm sorry to see it's 1 star. You can approach them in the gym or leave a comment in the feedback box as this is regularly reviewed and will be taken into consideration for updates and improvements, or you can contact Member Services. Thanks, PureGym
Negative experience: Bicycles getting stolen in front of PureGym entrance. PureGym really should do more to prevent this as I am now worried about cycling to the gym
Hi Dario, thanks for taking the time to leave this review, we always appreciate and take on board member feedback. We are sorry to hear that a bicycle has been stolen. Here at PureGym, we do advise that when attending the gym, members are responsible for their own belongings. Whilst we understand the frustration in regard to this matter, as detailed within our gym rules which are agreed to upon membership commencement: • Members are solely responsible for their own belongings when visiting PureGym. PureGym accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage to property. Thanks, PureGym
Positive experience: Not bad but usually quite busy and me and my partner tend to get dry mouth pretty quickly upon entering and starting a workout so make sure you are prepared.
Hi - Thanks for taking the time to leave this review, we always appreciate and take on board member feedback. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. Our gyms can become busy especially at peak times, but this does fluctuate throughout the day and from day to day. To make the most of the space where possible, though, we are always looking to expand and improve our facilities. Members can also use the members area via the PureGym app or website, to see how many people are in the gym. If you feel the gym can get quite warm, we would like to assure you that we are reviewing feedback and will ensure this is addressed in club. Temperatures/air con in our gyms are automatically regulated by Smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff may be able to override it and can certainly report it to be checked by engineers. Thanks, PureGym
Negative experience: I was actually very excited to sign up, the location is brilliant but In comparison to other Puregyms that I have been a member or visited throughout the years, this one is by far the worst one I have been to. The layout was terrible, the space was completely impractical, the floors were really dirty and the equipment was not in great condition. Depending on what your workout needs are, I'm sure that if you just want to use some cardio machines it may work great. For any functional fitness/ weight training, this gym is really not suitable. Needles to say, I left Puregym immediately after that visit.
Hi Pheya. Thanks for taking the time to leave this review, we always appreciate and take on board member feedback. We are sorry to hear of your negative experience with PureGym and would like to also apologise for any inconvenience caused. We would like to assure you that we are reviewing feedback and will ensure this is addressed in club. Thanks, PureGym
Negative experience: Dirty. Overcrowded. Several machines broken, but it's different machines every time you go just to make it interesting. Changing rooms and showers always smell and feel grim. PureGym is cheap for a reason, but it's still not worth the money.
Hi Jimmy, thanks for leaving us a review. We are sorry to see this is 1 star. We appreciate and value our member feedback. Our gyms will be deep cleaned every night with high-grade anti-viral disinfectant. The team will also clean every piece of kit and surface throughout the day, from dumbbells to treadmills and everything in between, so you can train with confidence. We've installed new self-cleaning stations so you can clean your kit before and after use, for added peace of mind. Cleaning stations are located in all key areas of the gym to make it as easy as possible. Thanks, PureGym.
Negative experience: This is one of the worst gyms I’ve been to. It’s cheap but you really get what you pay for (if that). Expect at least 50% of equipment to either be broken, or to break as you are using it. Of the three women’s toilets only one is ever in service (literally for almost a year and the one toilet that is in service literally has blood on the walls...), the women’s only area is out of service, there is an enormous leak which has meant a huge section of the gym is out of bounds because it’s covered in mould (which is the reason this gym always smells so bad.) the WiFi rarely works, the vending machines are broken often, there’s only ever one massage chair that’s in service. There is no ventilation and equipment is packed next to each other so it’s impossible to have any kind of personal space and is a serious safety hazard. I genuinely worry for the health and safety of people who use this gym!
Hi Megan, thanks for taking the time to leave this review! We're always looking for ways to improve what is on offer to the other members. Any issues with the equipment and facilities on offer need to be raised with the gym staff directly, or via the contact information on the gyms website. We wish you all the best with your future fitness goals! Thanks, PureGym
Fantastic experience: Small gym but it is in the middle of finsbury. Plenty of benches and weights and lots of machine variety
Hi - Thanks for taking the time to leave this review, we always appreciate and take on board member feedback. We want to provide our members with a safe space in which they can get a great workout in and we aim to provide a broad spread of kit to cater to a range of fitness needs and meet demand as it changes through the day, getting the balance right between weights and cardio. Thanks, PureGym.
Negative experience: Broken equipment, never labelled/removed and doesn't seem to ever get fixed/repaired. Poor design layout. Cleaning stations could be better equipped. No microphone when you attend classes so the instructors can't be heard. Only good points Jermaine's classes, women's only room and that it is 24 hour.

Positive experience: Gym is ok but most members do not put weights back in its place they are just left on floor but other than that it's good
Hi Courtney, thanks for taking the time to leave us a rating for the London Finsbury Park gym. It's great to see its 4 stars! If you have any feedback about how we can improve our services going forward, please feel free to get in touch! Thanks, PureGym
Positive experience: Nice gym,no complaints about space, running spaces are on a different floor compared to the weights which is good to maintain focus. As someone who loves night training and has regularly gone to the gym for 15 nights straight I really appreciate the use of being able to be clean after each session. On average I spend roughly 3 hours in the gym and it having space to be focused on my workouts is so important.
Hi Alex. Thanks for taking the time to leave this review, we always appreciate and take on board member feedback. It's great to hear you enjoy using the gym overall and we hope your time continues to be positive. Thanks, PureGym
Negative experience: Dirty (changing room just clean once a day in covid times, no hot water, broken hair dryer, just one sink working...) and super busy. You will have to wait queues to use the equipment. The staff is not friendly at all: I asked for directions because I couldn't find the way to the studio for the class and one PT just replied "I'm busy", she could just point me the direction but refused. I went one day and it was enough. Pay a bit more for a smaller gym, it's totally worth it.

Positive experience: Generally ok... but if feels like Puregym doesn't care about the general maintenance of the Finsbury Park branch. Things stay broken for weeks at a time. Some even longer
Hi N, thanks for taking the time to leave us a rating for the London Finsbury Park gym. If you would like to provide more feedback on this, feel free to get in touch! Thanks, PureGym
Fantastic experience: So far been 2 years with puregym Finsbury Park and loving it. For those who feel inferior to work out in the masculine area.. they have a woman only section .. but overal the gym is great. They are open 24 hour which is a great plus.
Thanks for your great review. Please get in touch if you’d like to tell us more about your great experience! Thanks, PureGym.
Negative experience: Overcrowded, under equipped with old, knackered, dirty kit, probably somewhat usable for the casual gym goer however.
Hi Joshua, thanks for your feedback! You can use the Puregym app to check how many people are in the app at any time, this can help you plan visits in quieter periods. Any feedback about the equipment is best passed to the gym manager. Thanks, Puregym
