Positive experience: I only go to the gym in the evening, which works well for me. It's not busy during the summer, but it can get a bit crowded in the winter. I've noticed the café is occasionally open on weekends during the day, but I haven't seen it open in the evenings. The gym area is clean in the evenings, as I frequently see the cleaners working at that time. However, the lockers aren't always clean and could use more attention. Some of the receptionists are friendly and helpful, while others seem preoccupied with chatting. I haven't used the swimming pool, so I can't speak to its condition. The classes are always full, and I've never been able to book a spot since I joined five months ago. I compared this gym with David Lloyd, which is busier and requires a year-long contract (and Jennyfield is a bit far from my home). Although the fees are not cheap and are set to increase in January, I'm happy with this fitness club as it meets my needs.

Negative experience: Very poorly managed , dirty , equipment not working ,4 or 5 members of staff chatting on reception with no aknowledgment of whats going on, classes cut to save money , open for free one day members from online trials making it very busy on a weekend (pool and steam rooms ) other member paying a lower membership from other gyms allowing to use it with the additional cost waved .The Gym is run for the wealth of the so called charity it clams to be and not the health and well being of the members, if your are paying £80.00/£100+ to be member per month you should expect a lot better, thay are putting wealth before health.

Positive experience: Needs to open at 6am like most Nufield Health gyms to allow people that work time to use the gym before work unsure why Harrogate Nufield open at 6:30

Negative experience: I have been a member at the Nuffield for about 6 years, I primarily swim and had been perfectly satisfied with the pool area and the cafe until the pandemic. Post pandemic Nuffield withdrew free towels, the pool area was partially closed to save energy whilst membership fees continued to climb. The cafe is now only open if the staff are in the mood to switch the lights on, more frequently they explain that it's closed due to "staff illness /staff shortages/broken coffee machine /can't be arsed" take your pick on any given day. The gym area has progressively degraded during my time at the gym, machines are outdated, broken, insufficient to meet membership demands. I am torn posting this review because I have some good friends who work, or are members at the gym, but I am no longer prepared to accept a dark dingy half closed and cold (under heated) industrial shed as a place worthy of £142/month for a couples off peak membership. Service and provision levels have truly tumbled catastrophically recently and it's time to check out David Lloyd.

Negative experience: Was a member of Nuffield Leeds for many years and it was always great there on all levels from cleanliness to customer service, welcome of reception, PT delivery, gym facilities and overall friendliness. It was so very disappointing that this gym is a higher tier within the group yet customer service levels are so different. Won’t be returning.

Negative experience: Went on a quiet day today. A Sunday and you would think yeah be pleasant. It was a situation that could of been better handled. So yeah long standing member left a bit miffed.

Fantastic experience: Joined in December 2021… I think it’s great! I’m not confident enough to use the gym yet but absolutely love the pool! As any place it gets really busy which has stopped me from using it as regularly as I’d like… I used to go at least 3 times a week and now I can only really use it once a week but this is because there are lot of members that don’t have the right etiquette! I think it could be an idea to sign up for pool time to ensure you can swim without being interrupted/pushed out the way mid-stroke but that’s just me being anxious and Don’t enjoy swimming in a super busy pool! Enjoying so far though and slowly on my journey!

Negative experience: I wouldn’t recommend Nuffield Heath Harrogate. Don’t be fooled by the Smiles and pleasantries made prior to signing on the dotted line, because once you’re tied into a contract with them this stops. Customer service is an absolute shambles, managers don’t return phone calls and no one seems to take any responsibility for mistakes made by senior members of staff . I’ve had many gym memberships from various companies and this has to be the worst. Save your money and use a company that will respond when they’ve made a mistake not just hide behind a manager that won’t even bother to call you back. Disgraceful attitude. Harrogate Nuffield. You should be ashamed of yourselves .

Fantastic experience: Firstly all the staff are amazing. Really friendly and welcoming I have been to gyms in the past for a lower price and even higher price, but found I was never actually using it because I did not feel engaged or connected to it. It was literally a cash void Joining Nuffields, I have felt engaged and encouraged from day 1 I genuinely have the gym bug and would say on the whole for the amount I am going it's excellent value for money Well done guys

Negative experience: Membership fees are extortionate in return for an outdated, crumbling gym. Often struggle to get on equipment, weights area is tiny. Really don't like how they try to penalise you for leaving, hardly makes you want to join again.

Positive experience: Very friendly staff also extremely clean and well organised. Only draw back is the amount of equipment for use in the weight section could do with more machines and variation but has all the basics

Fantastic experience: This gym deserves a medal for the way it welcomes members and the kindness shown at reception. The pool(20m) and sauna area are immaculate, fantastic weights area and aerobic fitness machines. Unreservedly recommend.

Negative experience: My overall opinion of this gym is pretty poor. I have been to several gyms this last few years and I only recently joined. I must say, for the price you pay and what you get out of the gym is pretty poor. £1000+ for 2 chest machines, 1 shoulder press machine, 2 back machines and 2 sets of cables seems like a scam. There should be more variety of machines eg: bicep curl machines, tricep extensions, incline chest press. But I really feel scammed out of my money. I honestly can’t see myself staying at this gym for much longer as I’ve been to gyms that are allot cheaper and have much more equipment which gives more verity to your workout as well as more choices of machines to choose from. However the free weight area seems very well organised and good when not busy. Plus the staff there are great but overall this really hurts to say but apart from the staff I really wouldn't recommend coming here unless things change because I really do feel that I've been scammed out of my money.

Fantastic experience: Staff are exceptional, facilities are excellent, nice family feel. Expensive but entirely justified. I went to David LLoyd and it's just no comparison, almost laughable. Really top draw staff, every individual there. The support they offer there is truly outstanding. Great company, great facility, great staff.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely brilliant. Staff are great. Both my wife and I well looked after by Grace, Marianne, Josh, Tim, etc. Even travel from York but it's worth it.

Positive experience: Recently rejoined after a break of many years. I was originally a Cannons member. The staff have been very helpful and the online booking system is a great bonus. Good facilities including a 20 metre pool, a variety of classes and a personal MOT all in included in the membership.

Negative experience: I joined with my partner several months ago on a joint membership Having been a member of all types / brands of gyms and even having worked in one as a personal trainer many years ago... it's safe to say this Is the worst. It's clearly done ok thus far due to lacking competition. Very overpriced - equipment old and many touch controls not even working. Staff are unfriendly and unhelpful and the whole place is just dated. Now pure has opened and hopefully others soon - I hope members who know no better realise how poor value for money this gym is. Finally - having wanted to cancel my joint membership, I was told I was a day late for that months deadline. I thought this pathetic but accepted it - paid £142 for the next month, even tho Id already joined another gym and so was paying double (And not using nuffield). But then to add salt to the wound - even tho we cancelled our JOINT membership - nuffield decided to cancel just one of us and took two months payment - £140 out of my account for my parneters single membership! Which we never consented for them to do as we had cancelled our JOINT membership! When I contacted them to sort it out - to make things even more laughable, it took me 3 times to even get the ball rolling, they refused to give me the money back and accused me of lying, and fobbed me off at the end of the day after pretending to look into it all day. If it takes 8 hours to look into one membership it makes me worry about their general efficiency... Which is clearly terrible as they couldn't even cancel a joint membership! I was lied to by Michelle and the only helpful person was Liam. I am still searching for my paperwork, but I have never before had to keep something as daft as a cancellation slip - not from David Lloyd or virgin both of whom ive left before if moved house etc, and sometimes it takes common sense and good customer service - that obviously a couple when cancelling a JOINT membership TWICE and joining another gym don't want to make it a single membership - and if they did, surely legally nuffield would require consent from me to pay for my partner (something of which I now need to look into) Basically - terrible customer service to match a dated gym. It shouldn't be this difficult and in my business if Id made an error id correct it immediately and apolgetically especially with such a large sum of money. Unfortunately this gym just screams- corporate machine where no one actually cares.
