Negative experience: Lovely new sauna but of no use as it’s way too cold. The old sauna used to be 90-95 degrees which was ideal and served its purpose, not anymore though.

Fantastic experience: Have been a member for over six months now, and regularly use the gym, classes and spa area. They’ve recently upgraded the sauna which is a bonus, and the staff regularly check in with me to see how I’m finding my membership and if there’s anything then can improve on.

Fantastic experience: I’ve recently moved to London, and Fitness First Clapham Junction is hands down the best gym I’ve ever been to! Now that the air con has been fixed, the temperature is perfect, and the brand new saunas are such a great addition. The gym is always spotless and well-presented, making it a great environment to train in. A special shout-out to Ellie, one of the managers as she’s always so welcoming and makes me feel at ease every time I go in. I can’t recommend this gym enough!

Fantastic experience: Great gym!!! The staff members are extremely helpful especially Dylan, Jermaine and Hisham. The steam room sometimes goes down which is annoying but other than that, great gym and good environment.

Fantastic experience: Love coming to this Gym. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Particularly love their new Egym equipment. It saves a lot of time with setting up weights and it’s nice to keep track of my progress digitally. The facicties are fantastic and the newly updated sauna is great too.

Fantastic experience: Great location, always clean, the equipment is modern & well-maintained, and the staff are all lovely. Ryan’s SPARR and Nikki’s LGC classes are both excellent - perfect for a midweek workout. There’s no better way to start the weekend than SHRED with Olivia, who brings an unmatched energy to every session.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member for over 2 decades when fitness first (Clapham Junction) was Fitness Exchange, it is important to have good staff and the PTs have made me feel positive over the years, training has helped me deal with death in the family a break up losing my job, major surgery and all the peaks and troughs of life, I do not have the need for anti (you know what)or any cheat or get out drugs. The gym has helped me in my darkest hours and so pleased what the manager has done with the club. Staff moral is through the roof and it is important to have pleasant reception staff as they are sometimes the first people I speak to in the morning and the cleaning staff are good and thorough as well. I go to a lot of other gyms due to my wife’s work and career path. They (fitness first) have constantly up graded the equipment the manager listens to the members but seems he cannot effect changes soon enough so I think he need more autonomy people are flying into the gym as they see what I look like now and complement. (Started seriously in 2020). I did martial arts before. I met my wife in the gym and we are happily married now and very much in (I can’t say it sorry). Anyway a big shout to Kabir for excelling under the tutelage of the former manager I have seen him grow and evolve into a leader and I can’t mention anymore of the staff individually as it would be unfair (apart from Mick my personal trainer)he makes me do the stuff I hate but it has helped my mobility and now I walk like and athlete not a gorilla as I’m quite muscular from the workouts but was not mobile or limber. The Pts balance you out. But all the staff are doing a great job keep it up. Only gripe in the steam room is sometimes not working and that is my treat after the workout please fix it when it breaks sooner. Rich

Fantastic experience: Fitness First is a great gym. Personally, I’ve always done the classes at the gym rather than training on the floor. I always do Olivia’s gym classes. Cannot recommend her enough as a gym instructor! The lessons are fun and rewarding! :)

Fantastic experience: 5 star, but please stop being stingy with towels. You’re out of towels half the time and the other half you’re capped at 1 towel… I would rather not dry myself out the shower with the sweaty sauna towel. Anytime fitness opening up, third space already open, this should be a quick win. Can a PT pls sort this. Thank you!

Negative experience: I visited this gym once and didn’t like how small and busy it was. Then I’ve been invited for a test training to see gym again and I was SHOCKED. Gym was not just packed, it was extremely packed! Literally none of the equipment was free! It was hot, loud, and crowded. Every meter of that place was taken by someone. Honestly, it almost gave me panic attack. When I said to trainer that this is too much, and I won’t stay for work out (there were simply no space for me), he started persuading me to stay and just wait for machines to be free I believe my 2-hours workout would take approx 4h there… It’s impressive, how greedy Firness First Clapham Junction is. They should stop selling memberships, it’s too much. P.S. found receptionists unprofessional and not welcoming at all.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member of FF at Clapham Junction for a few years now and it’s a great gym with an excellent array of equipment plus a really good selection of classes running all throughout the day. Nicci’s LGC class is one of the best strength and conditioning classes I’ve ever attended and also includes some really effective exercises for runners. Mish’s yoga classes and encouragement have really helped me to grow in confidence and flexibility, and I’m able to do some yoga poses that have surpassed my own expectations. Lalesha’s spin classes are full of positive energy and are a really challenging workout in a motivating environment.

Fantastic experience: Very solid gym as measured by my 10+ years of membership. Do wish they’d finally fix the water fountain(!) but the gym has steadily improved since I’ve been there especially with the addition of Lana and her classes which have been a game changer. Lana’s classes are super well structured, and she brings great energy and enthusiasm. Special shout to Andre and Antonio who are great pts too and Elena’s yoga classes which have become a mandatory part of the routine for me. Thank you team for all you do.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of Fitness First for many years and I particularly enjoy HIIT training. Therefore I highly recommend the Shred classes which combine weights and body weight exercises in 5 or 6, 2.5 minutes rounds with a finisher at the end to give a great work out in 45 minutes. All the instructors, including Ellie, Arlana, Olivia, Enzo and Dylan (sorry if I have missed anyone), are all fabulous, combining cheerful enthusiasm with great PT knowledge and experience. I would not want to go anywhere else.

Negative experience: Overcrowded, increased their fees by over 20% even when their air conditioning was broken all summer. Even on a month to month contract they sting you for cancelling your membership and end up charging you for the next month when you have no access. Been to many gyms in the UK around the world and this has to be up there with one of the worst experiences. Money hungry management who doesn’t prioritise the customer

Negative experience: As some of the members have stated, the management at the Gym is absolutely non existence. Especially with the Health and Safety issue occured almost a month ago. I have been on back and forth with the membership team and management team, for the unacceptable situation requesting cancelling my contract due to breaching all the Health and Safety but their response to that matter was complete dismissive, stating that this matter isn't of such importance for cancelling the membership. The gym are after all the changes has been a complete waste of space and they gym feel even more croweded.

Negative experience: Nice gym - but terrible customer services and they make it practically impossible to cancel your membership! Apart from it being hard to contact membership services, they only reply when it suits them, and continue to take your money as if they havent heard from you! And then "apologise" but dont refund your money! My advise would be to be very careful when signing up to any Fitness First Gym!

Fantastic experience: If you rank by quality to price ratio I think this is the best gym you can get in London. Also they keep improving on it with added equipment, extra space, new cold plunges. The staff are so lovely they even lift the weights for you if you ask really nicely! Suggestions to improve: Could have a gym doggo to make everyone even happier when they go here!

Fantastic experience: Been a member for many years and have never had reason to leave a review - however I have to mention that now, the team on reception - Ellie and Alarna are by far the best! They have been ah-mazing. Super-cheery despite the cold dark mornings and incredibly proactive when there is the occasional changing room switch-over. They also know their stuff on the gym floor and have given me some great workout tips. Thank you Ellie and Alarna! ✌

Fantastic experience: I just love this gym. I started gym later in life and I really struck it lucky here. It’s spotless, has an awesome vibe, every staff member is a delight and my Personal Trainer Alex is 100 percent credited for my new healthy lifestyle and body. He is truly an absolute Asset to the gym should anyone be looking for a PT. The Spa area is great. Lovely big sauna and amazing steam room. It’s become my home away from home and wouldn’t want to swap my gym for the world. Keep up the good work guys.

Negative experience: WARNING This situation is unacceptable and does not meet basic Health, Safety, Quality, and Environment (HSQE) standards. Recently, this gym has allowed members to continue training for the next 7 days while construction work is actively ongoing in the space. • Dust Hazard: There is a visible increase in dust levels, which poses a health risk. Gyms are supposed to be places where people focus on health and fitness—not spaces that compromise respiratory health. • Safety Risks: Construction involving exposed electrical cables and equipment should only be accessed by certified professionals. Allowing members in such an environment is not safe or responsible. Additionally, I have been a member of this gym for over a year, and since summer, there has been no air conditioning or proper ventilation—only fans. This is a fundamental requirement for any gym, yet the excuse given has been “waiting for local council approval.” Having worked with councils myself, I know that obtaining such permission doesn’t take an entire summer and can certainly be planned in advance. For a gym located in London—not a developing city—this lack of standards is shocking. HSQE protocols should always be a priority for any fully operational facility. Finally, the gym’s customer support has consistently failed to take complaints seriously, showing a lack of accountability and responsibility. Update 29.11 - Initially, I did not receive a response to my complaint until I visited the site and spoke with the gym staff. They informed me that the construction work should finish on 29.11. I mentioned to them that I had raised my concerns via email and Google and was disappointed that the issue was not treated with higher priority. I eventually received an email stating that the gym manager would address the matter, but I have yet to see any action taken. Another concern I wish to raise is how Wandsworth Council allowed the gym to operate in such conditions, with ongoing construction and exposed electrical cables posing safety risks.

Fantastic experience: The gym has a variety of equipment compared to competitors. I was surprised to see a deadlift machine and several row machines. There’s also a great amount of classes being run daily, and the studio is a lovely space to workout without noise when it gets busy. Highly recommend FF ☺️

The staff are all amazing, Ellie and Lana on front desk are so welcoming and full of energy whenever I arrive. I don’t usually attend classes but Lana’s Shred session on Sunday mornings is a must! Had me sweating buckets but feeling amazing for getting it done afterwards!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love Enzo’s classes at Fitness First Clapham Junction! He is hands-down one of the best trainers I’ve worked with. I attend both SHRED and TraX, and each session leaves me feeling accomplished and energized. Enzo has a unique ability to push you to your limits while keeping the energy up and always being in a great mood. He consistently gives valuable advice on form and posture, which makes a big difference in the quality of the workout and helps prevent injury. Enzo’s classes are tough—there’s no doubt I’ll feel the burn—but the sense of achievement afterward is unbeatable. Highly recommend his classes and personal training services if you’re ready to challenge yourself and take your fitness to the next level!

Positive experience: An interesting gym. First off the staff are great, incredibly helpful and friendly. Whether it's front desk or around the gym floor they're top drawer. The gym itself has issues: * It's almost always very hot and sweaty * The mat area is directly near the entrance, which is incredibly weird. As you walk to the machines you have to evade people stretching everywhere - bizarre * It's overcrowded and there's not enough cable machines, need another two really * Could do with more plateloaded machines - chest and bar row missing Otherwise it's solid, minor fixes could make it an incredible gym

Fantastic experience: I will forever be thankful to Dylan who showed me around and helped me sign up to fitness first. The staff are super friendly and smiley and clearly all get on very well. It’s a great atmosphere. Yes, it’s busy at times, but most gyms are. I’m grateful to have met my PT Antonio who had changed the game!

Negative experience: Pay attention at their cancellation policy. They forced me to pay an extra month after cancellation even if in the cancellation page the outstanding amount was 0.00£, just because I cancelled days before the direct debit was taken. The gym is expensive for what is, small and constantly packed. They have no air conditioning which makes summer months unbearable and all the others incredibly stinky.

Fantastic experience: Literally the best gym of all time. The staff al super friendly always helping out where they can and I do 3-4 classes a week with good difficulty and a wide range of times.

Positive experience: The trainers are all really good at Fitness First, including Enzo who runs some of the best classes that will push you and your abilities, and Ryan runs a great boxing class each week. The main problem with the gym is how crowded it gets, and going at anywhere near peak times means getting on equipment can be hard

Positive experience: One of the better Fitness First gyms in London. The new equipment they have is great - I especially like the deadlift machine! The changing room is spacious and clean. The sauna and steam room is nice too. It can get a little too busy at times on weekdays so you may need to wait a bit to use the machines. Other than that though, this gym gets a thumbs up from me!

Negative experience: The staff are great and the equipment is decent. It’s overpriced and I’m surprised it’s considered tier 2. It’s very tight for the space and number of members, particularly after they closed the Lavender Hill branch which unsurprising brought an influx of people given the proximity. They’ve also promised an upgrade to the aircon for over 6 months, currently the aircon is temporary units alongside fans.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member of this gym for almost 2 years now. It has a good range of equipment to use and a great choice of classes, which is great for people who prefer that aspect of a gym. All of the staff and PTs there are super friendly and always helpful if you ever need anything - Ellie, their newest manager, is in particular fantastic and I always love her classes! Would definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been here for almost a year and can’t complain about anything - The gym is convenient location wise to where I live and that motivates me to hit my 5-day a week training schedule. Classes are fun and enjoyable with a wide variety of programs (HIIT/Lift/Core/Yoga/etc..) - I’ve been attending classes for Enzo and Lana for the past year and can confidently say that my physique transformed thanks to them…Keep up the amazing work guys!!

Fantastic experience: Fitness First in Clapham Junction have been great and super helpful in my personal experience. The staff are friendly, good toilets, change room, facilities and classes. The gym is quite hot but I prefer it this way so it’s not a problem for me. Kabir was especially helpful and catered to my unique situation before signing up and that was very much appreciated. Now a member and love training at this gym!

Negative experience: Club staff are lovely, but the 'membership services team' are disgusting money grabbers. Been a member here for a while but my Dad passed away last month so had to leave London to live with and support my mum. No longer a club near me so spoke to the membership manager at the club about cancelling and she was very compassionate and said that I just needed to email the 'membership services team' and explain the situation and my membership would be cancelled. I emailed this team and explained, along with proof of my end of tenancy and got a copy and pasted response from someone supposedly called 'Cathy' that they are unable to cancel my membership because I can't provide a tenancy agreement or utility bill with my new address on. Why would I have a tenancy agreement with my mum? Also completely ignored everything I wrote about the death of my father, not an ounce of compassion shown. Avoid like the plague, all they want is your money.

Negative experience: Honestly not worth signing up whatsoever.. The club is totally rammed unless you can find a quiet spot in the middle of the day. The club is always replying to reviews, apologizing and asking you to reach out and that they will be happy to discuss this further. I reached out via email and was completely ignored, quite like they've ignored the space concerns over the past year. Not only a pain but also a health and safety hazard, dead set waste of time and money going here. The only positive I can say is the all the PT's are very welcoming.

Negative experience: Crowded Gyms / Threatening cancellation emails In relation to the Bishopsgate and Clapham branches. Gym Staff are great however.... Regardless of the time of day it is way too crowded now - even at 6am on Friday and 5pm on a Saturday you are queuing for machines. I have been a member for a number of years and in the last 18 months there has been a significant influx of people joining, I suspect due to the various short term offers that have been provided to try and persuade people to join the gym over competitive gyms that have opened round the corner as well as the other Clapham branch closing meaning all those gym goers now all go to the one gym by the station. Despite letting Fitness first know I wanted to cancel before my next renewal date and obeying the cancellation clause, I was told to pay for an extra month's worth of membership in order to cancel my contract. It's been a real shame the way they handle cancellations - I have been threatened with third parties collecting money if not paid by a certain date and daily emails from the branch offices telling me to settle up. It has now got to the point where I have been scared into paying another £85 even though I have not visited the gym in 3 months.

Negative experience: Unbearably hot! How hot I imagine hell to be. Feel faint as soon as I walk in. No clean air. It's dangerous so I've been forced to cut attendance whilst they continue to take out £85 per month. They claim they're fixing the air con but no actual update on when that will be. If you filter these reviews, you will see that they have been promising to fix it for a long time. For that reason, I wouldn't be surprised if they're lying, hoping that no one will kick a fuss when they approach autumn, but it's been horribly uncomfortable for months (this is my first summer with them). Trainers are great but I feel bad that they're forced to work in those conditions. They copy/paste the same generic responses on every review with no intention of actually dealing with the problem.

Negative experience: First, the staff *inside* the club are very helpful, however that’s where the good things end. The gym is constantly full, gym equipment hasn’t been repaired or replaced in years and the AC barely works. I was a member for over a year and needed to cancel my contract. It took over two months of back and forth with customer service, who didn’t want to respond for weeks at a time. They then come up with fabricated figures for the monthly fee that I would need to repay in order to cancel, in total costing >£400 to cancel my membership. It’s never going to be worth the £100 per month membership fee, unless they do a major refit and expand the gym area

Negative experience: Overcrowded and still pushing for more clients. Terrible customer service from the head office team. Quality is extremely poor for what you pay equipment constantly broken for weeks on end. Go to a pure gym or similar to pay less and get a better experience

Negative experience: Fitness first in general is great, same with all the staff. Unfortunately the Clapham junction gym is so busy it's a joke - you'll often wait 10+ minutes for a bench, longer for cables. I just waited 15 minutes for cables, just to see the staff taking more people around to view the gym. Walking through the station, I saw staff handing out FREE passes... I almost couldn't believe it. I've spoken to quite a few angry members, one even suggested they'll be violating fire regulations but I couldn't comment on that. It's a shame, the gym itself is good, and there are no other options really until the third space is built. Oh well!

Negative experience: The lack of air conditioning is unbearable!!! I'm paying 75 quid a month but have no energy to actually move in the heat. I get heat exhaustion with symptoms of nausea, headache after trying to do a class. The lack of air con which hasn't worked in months if not years is DANGEROUS and getting worse now we're approaching summer. They put a fan in place which is only helpful if you stand directly adjacent. I will be logging this concern before gore someone/me gets seriously ill. The staff area great but that doesn't make up for the gym feeling like a sauna

Fantastic experience: Since the refurb, I must say the club has improved massively, especially with the loss on the other club. I have no complaint thus far and would recommend to anyone. the towels are clean, the staff is exceptional.

Negative experience: Friendly staff and PT’s, but unfortunately Fitness First have prioritised memberships over safety and enjoyment. Hence why many people have left and gone elsewhere. I have had to adjust my work hours to stay clear of peak times following the closure of lavender hill, which has caused a massive increase in memberships - with no real change to capacity. I can honestly say that I haven’t had a good workout on this gym for 3 months now as I’m often waiting to use equipment with no alternative available. The drop in memberships have made things a little more bearable, but now I’m seeing flyers through my door about membership offers so they clearly haven’t learnt their lesson.

Negative experience: UPDATE: it’s getting worse and worse by the week . It is impossible to get a full workout done as there is not enough equipment , what is there is not working likely due to overuse and they keep handing out pamphlets for new joiners and showing people round the floor . Albeit an aesthetically pleasing gym with a lot of equipment . It’s actually a train wreck. Since the closure of the lavender hill branch , this gym is so ridiculously jam-packed you cannot get anything done unless you are there at 05:30AM in the week as soon as it opens . You cannot walk through the main of the gym without having to dodge bodies on the floor whilst carrying weights . It’s not safe. There is nowhere near enough equipment , benches on top of one another , and albeit them saying they would not be opening up for further joiners, I see them walking people about and showing them. Fee was hiked up from the lavender hill branch and the service is so much worse off . I feel bad for what was the previous members of the junction and the people who were forced to move across.£75/month to be packed in like sardines is a joke. The staff are generally nice people ,but they are also only doing what they can. There is never a quiet time at this gym

Negative experience: Have to say this gym has gone completely downhill. As all have said, extremely busy beyond what the club can safely provide. Definitely a health and safety concern due to overcrowding. It's a premium price and most of the equipment is old now. Shower, toilet and sauna facilities are dirty. Staff are nice but expect to not get on anything unless you come at 5.30am. As a member I have to say I definitely won't be renewing my membership. Should never have closed the lavender hill FF round the corner.

Negative experience: 90% of people use earphones to listen to their own podcasts or music, yet the awful club music blares throughout the gym. Come on! Even the spa area which should be meditative has this terrible noise. Rules for sauna and steam room should be compulsory shower prior to entry - normal in any decent gym. After 3 years membership, significant decline in standards and cleanliness.Disappointing. Positives: new equipment is good and some of the staff are great.

Negative experience: The gym has a serious issue with overviewing and it is not impossible to get on any machine without a queue. The price is still high considering the influx of members and the company do not seem to actually be doing anything about this issue other than responding to reviews with the same generic response. Nothing is being done about this so I will be cancelling my membership and going elsewhere. I would strongly advise to not start a membership with this gym.

Negative experience: This gym has such a premium price for such a budget gym. I've definitely been scammed by this gym. It's a lot smaller than any other gym I've been to, theres an overabundance of people every time I come here which is disgusting, a very little amount of machines, no regards to safety for gym goers, no regard for personal space. It's a very modern looking gym, but that doesn't mean its any good. Such a shame that I signed up to a years contract and I'm disgusted.
