Negative experience: I've been there and it's just rubbish and I have to stay there for 4 days I was disappointed by the service it really took slow the lockers were manky and old brocken and the rooms I cant even say something about how horrible they are there stinky the toilets look unclean and they semlt and they looked as they wasn't flushed before and there was rubbish on the outlines of the bed I would personally think I woundlt go there
Fantastic experience: We stayed here 2 nights while visiting stone henge and was one of the best spa hotels we have ever been to. Staff very helpful and gave all info without us needing to ask. Food in restaurant was very nice as well as drinks. Breakfast was very good lots of choices and fresh coffee bean machines. Spa was nice and big the swimming pool was big but not as deep as it’s 1.2m all over. I think they are closing end of the month such a shame as we would love to visit again. If you are debating visiting before they close, do it you won’t regret it.

Negative experience: I haven’t even stayed yet and I’m incredibly disappointed. Me and my partner and another couple are due to stay at this hotel in about a week. After calling multiple times, leaving voicemails and emailing… I still have no response. I have a few questions re the hotel and requests. Like booking a table at the restaurant and finding more info about the pool. And sorting a later checkout. This makes me question how great the service will be when we arrive, we don’t have high hopes and are gutted.
Fantastic experience: Huge house, we were one of 2 works Christmas do's. The organisation was exceptional .. Food was very nice and staff were professional... Our room was spacious and clean... I would recommend to anyone..

Negative experience: Rooms really tired. Meals - can't imagine worst.Consider surrounding different restaurants, for the same price far better food. Long waiting for the service. Other hotels in the nearby area much better.

Fantastic experience: Personally I love this place! I live at Bath, an upmarket city and have visited all the good hotels here also, just to check them out. But travel to Swindon for this hotel which is by far the best value hotel I can find anywhere! Peaceful surroundings, the hotel itself on a large field. The bedrooms a good size, with bath if wanted and large sofa if wanted, plus big TV. The leisure area has a gym, weights room, pool, steam room, jacuzzi and sauna! couldn’t ask for more! Also a lounge area to relax in, enjoy food and drink in nice environment with TV’s and bar. The food isn’t amazing I have to admit, but considering the price and how much you get, the food is certainly good enough in my books. I have revisited around 7 times and can’t see myself ever stopping unless I have to! Friendly staff and a great space to retreat, treat and recharge. Highly recommended!

Negative experience: The hotel is great value for money though probably wouldn't stay here again, it's almost impossible to get a stable signal (mobile & WiFi). So if you need to make a call, do work or watch a movie on your laptop, you'll likely leave very frustrated. It's such a small thing but it's so bad you can't help but get frustrated with it

Fantastic experience: I stayed at the Alexandra House Hotel at the weekend and it was a lovely experience. I checked out on Sunday and flew back to Dublin that evening. On landing I realised I had left my car and house keys in the room safe. I got in contact with the hotel and spoke to Zak on Reception who was exceptionally helpful and located my keys. He then went the extra mile, emailing me and phone calls to walk through the courier process from the UK to Ireland. And helped me with the required information for the courier company such as the dimensions of the packaging etc... He was so good to package the keys up for me so that they were ready for collection. I have not come across such amazing customer service before. The keys arrived this morning and I am over the moon to receive them. I rang to thank Zak and just want to say here again thank you Zak, you are a life saver!

Negative experience: I booked and paid for a superior room but when I checked in I was told there was none available so I had no choice but to accept a standard room after travelling for 6 hours to get there I said to the guy on reception that I was not happy but he said he would arrange for the room to have it upgraded to a superior room by adding some free drinks and two dressing gowns and apparently that is the only difference, free drinks are those tiny cans and were obviously warm I have stayed in better travel lodges and was extremely disappointed from beginning to end as the sink was severely damaged and needed replacing and I would avoid this place at all cost as I could not even wind down with a beer as the place was dominated by a convention of very loud funeral directors and I will never return here as the icing on the cake was when I tried charging my EV and spent ten minutes downloading app and filling in personal information and bank details etc only to find out that the chargers were offline so was no point in having them! All in all I was short changed and I can’t think of anything good to mention as the free Wi-Fi is not pass word protected so even that is not safe to use and I forgot to mention no phone reception for either myself or my wife , AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!

Negative experience: Booked room with WiFi. Room was clean - nothing special if compare to 3* hotels I've been into in the past. There is WiFi coverage in shared areas but nonexistent in the room I had. For a 4* hotel, the state of WiFi is shocking. The hotel although located in quiet area, unfortunately is also in an area of very poor mobile coverage (EE) - if you're hoping for use of your data to create hotspot, you'll be very disappointed. Mobile coverage within hotel could be improved with 4G boosters, and WiFi need good survey to locate areas that need improvement and sources of interference (ie. quick scan and I could see 2+ access points in the same area broadcast on the same channel). Until these issues are resolved sadly I can not recommend this hotel.

Positive experience: We stayed in August for a birthday celebration. The surrounding area is lovely and the price was great. The front desk staff were very helpful and the spa and pool was very relaxing with great facilities. Lockers were broken though, so had to trust fellow users. Jacuzzi was wonderful. Dinner was awful, expensive and flavourless, service was good but slow. Servers were very nice and apologetic but they definitely had kitchen problems. The table behind us waited 15 minutes for sauce for dry chicken. Breakfast was okay, just standard buffet style. Lots of options. Didn't seem very much veggie or vegan option though. The hallways and rooms are very dated. Definitely in need of a refurb. The room and bathroom were standard, nothing special.

Positive experience: This accommodation was for an overnight stay on the way back from our vacation. We thought the price was good, but you do get what you pay for ! It's a large complex and first impression wasn't bad however after half an hour it soon became obvious that it lacked Amy attention to detail. Outside seating areas were strewn with cigarette ends, weeds in pavers, tables not wiped and covered in sticky beer from night before. The communal areas weren't too bad. The rooms were not clean most of the spot lights in ceiling didn't work. Service was very slow. Wouldn't stay again unfortunately.

Negative experience: I made an booking for my wife, I booked it with my credit card, I was out of town and my wife didn't have any credit card, when she arrived at the hotel the reception employee asked her to make the payment, she explained that there she has no card and that I had made the payment by Booking. Even though it was not accepted, the employee asked for a card to make the payment. She left the hotel without being able to check in, she called me desperate because she would have to sleep on the street. I contacted the hotel and it was the same explanation that they could not take the payment without the card. I looked for another hotel that could already make payment online... this after 00:00. After a few days I received a charge from you asking £83.84 for cancel fee! ? on the same card that made the booking. So I will not recommend.. very bad customer service

Positive experience: Overall it is a beautiful place (visually). This is the third time I and my partner have stayed at this place and on every single visit the WiFi connection is horrible. There is no signal or any kind of stable WiFi connection, apart from being at the bar area. Breakfast is 7/10, worth the £10. Dinner is 5/10. The rooms are restful and clean at first glance. Multiple times, we have noticed mould in the shower corners, and the bed mattress is extremely springy. Overall the rooms lack attention to detail but are clean. Generally, the staff are kind and approachable, but there were situations when we felt awkward and unsatisfied with the help we have been provided with. Great place to bring your dog, as this place is surrounded by fields. Rating: 6/10

Fantastic experience: Just spent a lovely bank holiday weekend at the hotel. Originally we were only going to spend 2 nights at the hotel but extended our stay to 3 nights because we were having such a great time. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel was in a great location for everything we wanted to do over the weekend, and excellent value for money. Our twin room was a good size and clean. Food at the hotel was also spot-on, especially the breakfast. The pool and gym facilities were brilliant, I really enjoyed using them all. Thank you to everyone at the hotel and we will certainly be back soon.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant stay at Alexandra house. The staff were all super friendly. Top points for letting us keep our bikes in the storage room securely overnight. If there was one point of note the hot tub could be warmer but only a small point. Really hope to be back, thanks to the team!

Negative experience: Avoid! Staff ignores you, just promise to fix the problem! Look at the room! Is it 4 star hotel? What do housekeeping staff get paid for?! Reception?! Had to go complaint to reception twice about cleaning and last time we were promised cleaning will be done while we are in the pool (they had 1,5h), Guess what? No one even turned up! Dirtiest place I have ever stayed in! Disgusting!

Positive experience: Google shows it is a 4-star hotel but I can only give it 3 or 3.5 stars at most. Google Maps shows hotel is "Air-conditioned", but that's NOT including guest rooms, only a radiator is available in the room but not air-conditioning, so be prepared to be hot in summer. Shower has only a wall mounted shower head, no hand-shower available; and the shower head in my room was broken, serious water leaking behind the shower head as indicated in my photo. Black mould visible on the wall in toilet. The toilet exhaust fan is very weak, making all the walls are still wet and moist for hours after taking a shower. Only 2 mugs are provided in room, no extra water cups provided in room or toilet. Good thing is there is an indoor swimming pool, but towels are not provided, you need to bring your towels from room. The area surrounding hotel is nice, and sufficient free parking.

Positive experience: Not sure this would be a 4 star in my book but nice enough. Very pleasant chap on reception, efficiently booked in. There was a prom event on when arrived and it was heaving outside but the stay was quite and no issues ( perhaps they weren't all staying). My room was ground floor. This place is huge. The room itself was a bit tired but clean and reasonably well equipped. Some reviews mention TV setup but it was fine, usual selection of channels on free view. Bathroom was clean and well appointed, looked as though it was upgraded before rest of room. I think there are some better rooms but for the price I had no issues. This is a corporate business conference hotel and a bit out of the way of anything else so driving is pretty much essential. As such the hotel has lots of space and corridors aplenty, breakfast and dining room were well laid out and bar looked ok ( didn't partake) but do expect a bit of a walk. Breakfast was good and nice selection of both types cooked and cereal/ yoghurt fruits etc. Help yourself and was included in the price I paid. Worth noting they do packages which seem very reasonable. I was there on business but would certainly consider a visit for leisure

Positive experience: A great value hotel, 20mins from where I’m working. I’ve stayed two nights each week for the last two weeks, and will be staying again for another 2 nights next week. It’s 1/2 price of bnb’s in Marlborough, but it’s a proper hotel, restaurant and bar. Professionally run. I’m looking forward to my next stay.

Negative experience: Floors in the hall and in rooms have not been vacuumed in some time; visible dust along all walls. The bathroom appears to be clean but that is questionable at this point. Beds have clean linens but are of poor quality. Lights required a card in a slot by the door. Plumbing makes a loud obnoxious noise. Positive points include low price, large room, 2 twin beds that are comfortable, restaurant and bar on sight appeared to be busy. The pool and hot tub were nice and tidy.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant staff, lovely facilities, excellent breakfast AND dog friendly. The only downside is that our room needed a bit of TLC and aircon would be a huge bonus when it's 30c outside ! Minot niggles and will be happy to stay again.

Positive experience: Nice hotel in lovely grounds, good sized rooms. Staff friendly and helpful. Food good. Nice leisure facilities. Only thing that spoiled the pool was children in it St 21.00. We went to the pool late to get a swim as it is open till 22.00, however, there was a child still in the pool jumping in and splashing around as they do. We didn't expect that so late in the evening, so didn't get a proper swim.

Positive experience: We stayed here for a stop over after a long day and just because we wanted a night off. It’s remote, which we knew, and is actually not a bad place. Staff were great and very accommodating. The major issue was the cleaners in the morning. At 7:30 on a Sunday morning they were banging doors in to their store cupboard which felt like it was behind my head while in bed. I had to get up and tell them to be quiet. They said sorry and continued all morning regardless. Reception apologised too, but that was about it. The room wasn’t overly clean either with coffee marks still in the cups and peeling paint in the bathroom. Probably a great stay if you’re there for a conference (which is its purpose) as you’d be up when the cleaners are attempting the world noise record, and may consider staying again, but would request a room as far away from the cleaners cupboard as possible.
Fantastic experience: I can't put down a genuine review as I haven't stayed yet, but reading the reviews so far has got me a bit worried. I'm staying 3 nights for a romantic break. Please make sure the room is clean and looks like a 4 star hotel should. This break means a lot. Will review again once I've stayed. Tim

Negative experience: Front of house excellent on my check in sat down for dinner waited quite a well until I made eye contact with the server ordered food and drink good wait again then food turns up no drink on once I told the server regards not getting my drink he apologised and went to get it whilst I could see it sat on the bar for a good period of time, food was OK chips well over done. Nobody came to ask if I needed any condiments or even any sweet after I finished my main so I just walked away to my room. Morning came went to make a coffee and found used sachets plus no milk in the box which I had taken for granted silly me. Overall disappointed good job my company paid for my stay.

Positive experience: Staff - fantastic individuals, maybe a touch too busy for the number of guests, but generally really lovely. Location - depending on your goals, it's just green space. Walking around would be ideal if you are willing to do so; otherwise, it is a little out of place for local businesses and other necessities. Accommodation - This place has clearly been well-invested in, since everything but the rooms is new, clean. With a gym, pool, and eating and drinking area, however it loses some stars the moment you open your door. My bathroom was filthy, with black mould in the shower, old bathrooms, dusty rooms and ants in the sheets that looked and felt ancient. My room had broken lights that flickered during the night when I turned them off. Extremely

Fantastic experience: Hotel was lovely and set in a peaceful area. The staff were lovely and welcoming, alway greeted with a smile. The room was clean, tidy and the bed was very comfortable. It was a very peaceful stay. The facilities were great and the pool area was clean. The breakfast was hot and had plenty of choice however could have done with a hot vegetarian option aside from egg e.g. a vegetarian sausage. Would definitely recommend and would return again.

Positive experience: A bit out of the way. I fell in the shower and cut my leg. Phoned down for a plaster. I came down 20 min later and got one myself. Not good when I hurt myself on the premises. Rooms are nice and the serving staff leave you alone to eat.

Fantastic experience: Lovely hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. The bed was not that comfortable and you rolled to the middle. In the bathroom the frame around the door is in need of replacement as paint coming off. The food was lovely in the restaurant The swimming pool was lovely

Negative experience: Do not understand how this is a 4 star hotel. Our room was covered in marks and stains on the wall. There was hair in the shower. It was a real let down. Fortunately it was only for a nights stay. The bed is not comfortable. Sat at the bar the following morning for half an hour. Nobody near to serve me a coffee. Only thing keeping this hotel is the gym is alright and pool is good. Otherwise extremely dissapointed. Won’t be back

Fantastic experience: I stayed here as I was doing the veterinary physiotherapy course held at the hotel. I have travelled all over the world and stayed in many hotels, non of them come close to how friendly, cheerful & helpful the staff are at Alexander hotel. Every single one of the staff we spoke to were just lovely and a perfect example of excellent customer service making your stay stress free. I had my dog staying with me and not one member of staff walked past us without saying hello to her. A lot of dog friendly hotels do not make your dog feel welcome. In the room there was a dog bowl of water & a bowl of dog treats which I thought was a wonderful touch, along with a little dog blanket. The room was very clean & had everything we needed in it. We enjoyed a few lovely walks around the beautiful gardens surrounding the hotel. The food was delicious and the service was spot on. I have to return over the next few months for my course and I am very much looking forward to coming back. I would highly recommend to anyone and especially dog owners.

Negative experience: We booked for a romantic 2-night stay but only stayed one night. This does not have the facilities, atmosphere or service of a 4-star hotel so we were rather disappointed. First impressions were okay and staff were nice but we were told off the bat that the hot tub was out of order. Our room had no telephone or ironing board and there were cobwebs so we were offered an alternative room, which we accepted (why they would advertise 24-hour room service but put guests in the rooms where telephones were 'under maintenance' was beyond us). Our new room was better but still rather shabby and dingy, the water pressure and temperature was dodgy, and it was difficult to flush the toilet. Since we'd come all that way (2-hour trip), we decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. We had a drink at the bar (nice service there) then had dinner at the restaurant, but when my partner's food came out there was a hair on his plate - yuck! My food was average at best. They were happy not to charge us for his meal at least. The bed was comfortable but there was a bit of noise (dogs in other rooms barking) and it wasn't the romantic atmosphere we had hoped for. My partner tried to call for room service several times that evening (as he was starving hungry!) but no one answered. In the morning, breakfast was average. We didn't feel comfortable staying another night so cut our trip short - they were happy to refund us the cost of bed and breakfast on the second night and the staff were helpful overall, but it was not the 4-star experience we were promised at all. We would not go back.

Positive experience: Stayed here a couple of weeks ago with family had a great time so invited my son and his daughters up tried ringing two days before no answer day before no answer morning before no answer got to hotel kids love to swim not allowed before 9am bad move so Sunday was a waist of time so no not worth the money so will be looking some where else in the town very disappointed

Positive experience: Went for a large team meeting 2 coffee machines for 100 people , not ok, too much queuing in limited breaks and told we cpuldnt use the one outside as that was for the other meetings Lunch was pretty poor too. Buffet style, salads and a wierd tasting gnocchi, miso mackeral and beef brisket. Strange combinations Toilets werent great either, in the morning one not working and no paper in another., then in afternoon broken one had been fixed but paper was still an issue Our group was not the only ones there that day so you would have thought that they would have checked that kind of thing more frequently

Positive experience: I stayed over for one night during the week. The service was good and the staff were friendly. I received a free room upgrade and was happy with my room. There were a few minor issues that I may have raised if I was staying longer, but didn't bother me enough to address them in a one day visit. The bar closed too early in my view, but that's probably deliberate. I think this hotel will be on my list of potential business stays in the future.

Positive experience: Its alright but expensive and long wait times for food. Its mostly new young staff. Gym is meh and the swimming pool its comparable to two ponds combined really not very big. Staff are friendly tho.

Fantastic experience: We booked Alexandra House for our wedding which took place on October 1st. From the get go, Alexandra House were great with their planning and organisation. Theresa, the coordinator, could not have been more helpful and responsive to emails and all sorts of odd questions we had. The day itself went flawlessly. All of our guests commented on how great the bar was, the food quality was sensational, and overall everything just flowed superbly. Everyone commented on what a great, relaxed wedding it was, and we put that down to the brilliance of the staff and everything at Alexandra House. A couple of INCREDIBLY minor points; - The Bridal Suite is AGES away from the rest of the hotel, so expect a fair walk back to your room at the end of the night (especially annoying if the key doesn't work!) - There was another event going on at the same time, which meant that alot of cars parked out the front of the hotel, which was a good photo spot. It would be good if this frontal area could be 'Double Yellowed' so people wouldn't park there Overall though, we could not be happier with everything, and we cannot recommend Alexandra, and particularly Theresa, enough.

Negative experience: First impression excellent..nice decor , amenities.Then we got three different electronic keys that didn't work. Only toiletries were hand sanitizer and soap.Dinner for £17 was good flavour but barely warm and served on a cold plate. The final nightmare was a mattress that felt like the floor ,my friends mattress dipped on the left side..got about one hours sleep and woke up in pain.So definitely will never go back

Fantastic experience: I booked a room here last minute so had no time to read any reviews prior to my stay. The hotel is in a lovely setting and easy to find. I found the staff on my arrival at reception were extremely helpful and welcoming, they told me all about the leisure facilities and made a dinner reservation for me. The room I stayed in was clean and spacious with tea and coffee making facilities, the bed was very comfortable and I had a very good night's sleep, hardly any outside noise from other guest's. I found the food and service in the restaurant to be of a high quality and very reasonably priced. All in all a great experience and I would definitely stay again!
Fantastic experience: Returned from a weekend away. The hotel is lovely, staff were extremely helpful and polite. Food was ok just we personally didn't enjoy the choice available. All in all a cracking weekend. There was a wedding on the Saturday night which didn't disturb us. There are parts that could do with updating but you can see the main reception, restaurant and bar have been recently refurbished and with us all getting back to normal from covid im sure the rest will follow. We would visit again.
Fantastic experience: I was so impressed with my night at the hotel, I had booked the hotel's two person deal with dinner and breakfast on their website. The staff were wonderful and chatted away to us, the food was delicious and the leisure access perfect. I can't complain about anything and so looking forward to staying again!
Fantastic experience: Nice hotel, friendly staff, good service and clean rooms. There's a nice swimming pool gym and tennis court for leisure time. the hotel is located in a quiet place, but the only point is that it is a little far from the city centre
Positive experience: A very enjoyable stay for our short family break. Comfortable room, nice pool/spa, delicious food and fantastic staff. A general redecoration would l give the hotel a lift to a full 4-star hotel.
Negative experience: Well where do we start, the location is out of Swindon which was fine so no issues there, we paid for the over night deal Dinner, Bed & Breakfast. We used the pool facilities including the Sauna and Steam Room which were ok, the steam room could do with an upgrade but the Sauna was good, could do with a lick of paint around the flaking paint by the pool and water was a bit merky. Hot tub was full of foam so we passed on that! Dinner was awful and I mean awful.... ran out of sour dough bread to start, we had £58 credit to spend on food, ordered Pizza... Half of it was burnt so completely unedable and so oily, not a fresh base frozen with toppings chucked on top, mentioned it was burnt to waitress but no care given! Sirloin steak my wife ordered it medium, it was like a quick cook minute steak and was grey in colour, chips were cooked in oil that was obviously too hot, crispy on the outside but rock hard in the middle. Deserts were ok so at least that was good! Didn't have all the wines on the wine list... (excuse was the old supplier chestnut) No Aircon in the room tried calling to the 24hr reception twice during the night to ask for a fan but no one answered! So breakfast time.... we didn't even bother after the awful experience the night before. To sum up Room was good apart from no Aircon, food was absolutely awful and service was below par. Could really be so much better it's got the makings of a good place but the management need to sort it quickly!

Fantastic experience: Excellent room, clean and tidy. All of the usual things available. Tea, coffee, hair dryer, safe, iron and ironing board. Great pool, sauna and steam room. The staff are amazing and very helpful. Definitely stay here again.
Positive experience: It was a great stay. We had a one night stay from Groupon deal. Seeing the negative reviews we were bit concerned. However, it was an amazing experience. Dinner served for two people worth 57£ for free along with the buffet breakfast and we had to pay for kid’s dinner. We didn’t want to pay additionally for the kid, receptionist kindly arranged a big room for us did not want to pay at all. Staff was great and polite too. Pool, sauna and steam room and gym are well maintained. Highly recommend to anyone.

The only thing that wasn't as good as it could be was the mattress, which although was comfortable, could've been better. Having said that, im very particar with the quality of my mattress. Positive experience: After reading all the negative reviews I was seriously worried about our recent stay, however I was more than pleasantly surprised. The only downside was the long fiddly drive to the hotel as we just needed a quick overnight stay, arriving late and leaving early the next morning. However it was worth it as the room (a twin) was clean and comfortable (although a long walk from reception), the waiting staff were friendly and helpful and the dinner menu was not your standard hotel grub and it was refreshing to see a varied and healthy menu with lots of nice twists. The food was cooked well and served quickly. The only thing I would recommend would be the hotel look to update/replace the mattresses to something more modern and comfortable. They were fine for one night but a bit lumpy for a longer stay.

Positive experience: The room and the leisure facilities were great! The room was big, comfy bed, clean. The Pool, sauna and jacuzzi really nice too, and open until 9pm which was very good for us that we arrived in the evening. My only complaint is the restaurant, they let us now beforehand that the food was gonna take a while and that’s okay, but then I asked for water (3 times) and they never brought it to me. The starter I asked for was brought together with the main dishes which doesn’t make any sense. The pizza I had was good, but my partner got a sirloin stake (that cost 20 £) but it was tiny and badly cooked, not worth 20 £. Not good at all. Would recommend going, but maybe eat out if you can.

Positive experience: Gym has been updated recently, and the pool has had an update too, so all in all, it's not too bad. The realy bonus is the 25% discount you get on food and drink for being a gym member! The conference rooms are ad you'd expect, nothing much to add really. Looking to hire one of the large events rooms for a party later this year, so will update.

Fantastic experience: We had our wedding at Alexandra House in early June 2022 and the venue and all of the staff were simply fantastic. Right from the early planning stage they have been so helpful and informative and really helped to make the experience enjoyable. On the day of the wedding everything went smoothly and the staff worked so hard to ensure it all ran ok. The hotel was clean and tidy. The food and drinks were reasonably priced. All in all it was a pleasant experience. Also, all of the feedback from our guests has been really positive as well.

Negative experience: We stayed for 2 nights part of a package deal, 3 course meal on first night and breakfast. The hotel room was good, bed was comfy. Nothing wrong with room at all. We went swimming and used the facilties, they were very good. I feel like th walls needed abit of touching up as paint was peeling off but apart from that was a good experience. For our 3 course meal, we found it was very disappointing, it was not very good at all. We both had fish and chips, the fish was terrible. I only ate my chips and peas. The batter looked so pale and looked frozen and dull. I had the white chocolate mouse with raspberrys and raspberry sorbet. The mousse was split and lumpy. It had a grainy texture I couldn't eat it. And instead of raspberry compot it was cherries? This wasn't on the menu so I was suprised as no raspberries in sight and someone could of had an allergy to cherries. Also we had no checkback during our meal only at the end, which isn't good. Breakfast was average nothing special pretty bland. We we only had breakfast once because of this. Overall for a hotel and spending the night we would return, just not for food unfortunately.

Positive experience: Rooms outdated, tlc needed, especially in the bathroom. Location- very remote. Perfect for gateway. Restaurant needs a huge improvement. We had undercooked rice, bottled caramel sauce for a desert which cost £6. Internet access the hotel is very shady. Would I stay here again? No.

Fantastic experience: Visited Alexandra House for a work conference meeting. Lovely place and excellent service providing us with lots of food and drinks throughout the day. Lunch was a good range of food. Didn't visit the leisure centre but looked good on the photos and a sneaky peek into the gym. The fact it's only £25 a month is very good value for money.
Negative experience: Very poor, would not recommend. Food and service at the evening meal was awful . We had to complain and reorder as well as another couple on the next table, who did the same . Food was so bland, dry and unacceptable. In a word.....Vile. Breakfast was not much better.... ran out of food and very slow on keeping the service topped up to accommodate the amount of diners.... Will definitely not be returning... very very poor

Negative experience: Cleenliness is not their forte for a start. Furthermore we have found a bra in one of the draws... If you try the call reception or the duty manager or housekeeping, no one anwsers. If you want to talk to someone you have to physically go to reception only to find untrained staff with a terrible attitude. You will hear things such as - I don't know, it's my first day. I'm busy right now come back later. I should be able to help you in one hour or so. WiFi will work, if you are lucky and there was no signal at all so calling anyone was extremely difficult. Overall considering the price if you want a cheap short stay in Swindon and your expectations are low this is a good place to stay however I would not recommend this hotel and I won't be returning for sure.

Positive experience: When we saw our room I was very surprised that there was a bath ,not a walk in shower ,as I had specifically asked for an accessible room as I have mobility issues and a disability when I booked .When I spoke to reception the response was ,’oh ,I thought all accessible rooms had walk in showers ! Well,apparently not ! Consequently,the following morning I slipped in the bath after showering ,our friends in room 207 had to come a help get me out ! Huge embarrassment to them and me .Fortunately ,I wasn’t seriously hurt ,just bruised .I reported it to reception,again point blank response! Now we come to dinner on the second night ! A complete fiasco ,not able to use dining room as being used for a buffet ,so we sat in the lounge bar .There was a shortage of items on the menu ,our order was wrong when it arrived and by the time the missing item arrived,we’d finished our meal .Alex however ,apologised profusely ,reduced the cost of the food and gave us complimentary wine .I felt truly sorry for all the young waiters ,there were so many complaints .This break was so that we could catch up with our best friends who we’d not seen for a long time because of Covid .We won’t be returning ,sadly .

Fantastic experience: Dinner was very nice. Service was a reasonable speed; just over an over for 2 hours. Didn’t feel rushed at all. Food was good portions, it’s just not very traditional English food. Also, for starts there isn’t the best options. Overall, very pleased.
Negative experience: Stayed here for 2 nights. First of all the food in the restaurant was very poor with a very long waiting time. Then the 1st night at around 23.50h there was a false fire alarm which has scared many of the occupants. 2nd night same thing happened however the alarm kept going for a ling time. Everyone went out runing and everyone was scared. There were no staff members around to help or to calm things down. So really wasted my 2 nights staying here. Will never recomend even tho the rooms are nice and the low price but other than that there is nothing to come for.

Fantastic experience: Like many before I had read some negative comments about this hotel so wasn't sure what to expect We were checked in by a lovely young lady who directed us to the room abd dining options and explained what we needed to know to use the pool etc. We were able to park close to an entrance by our room. The room was sizeable with a TV,tea making facilities and a decent bathroom with a shower over the bath. Very comfortable bed. We like a lot of tea so I popped back to reception for extra milk cartons,no problem. We had our evening meal on the first night included in the deal and it was really good,in fact we ate in the restaurant on the second night too. Breakfast was excellent and I had scrambled egg made for me to enjoy with bacon and mushrooms. There was plenty choice with cereals ,fruit ,yoghurt, toast and pastries as well as the full cooked options. Tea and coffee available from the machine and fruit juice I several flavours. We didn't use the pool but I had a look around and the hot tub almost persuaded me to get a cozzie on. Large changing area I spotted hair dryers and showers and a family changing room. I feel sorry for the staff when guests leave negative comments as I've always found that if problems are sorted as they arise they're no longer problems. Treat people with respect and if possible a smile and it's easy to get good service. One thing I'd like to see on the reviews is an acknowledgement from the manager for a good review as I only spotted a response to the negative comments
Fantastic experience: This is our second trip to Alexandra Park and we absolutely loved it again. The facilities here are amazing and we enjoyed making the most of the pool, sauna, steam room and gym. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, lots of variety and freshly made pastries. Will definitely be back again, such amazing value for money at this place.
Positive experience: Beautiful hotel and friendly staff. The food was beautiful however it took almost 3 hours for experience. After buying a package for our stay, I paid additional for a superior room and found that i had to clean the bathroom otherwise the room was clean. However the bad point - the receptionist certainly did not take on board the fact that my husband was diabled (walked with a stick and struggled with the distance to the room) putting us as far from the amenties as possible , as out room literally was the other side of the hotel.

Positive experience: Overall a decent hotel but could do with some upgrades especially in Bath rooms. The hot water in shower was....warm at best and walls both inside and outside had damp signs. Staff were good so just a little disappointed

Negative experience: Cleanliness was poor. Pool was nice. The hotel rooms have a sombre aspect which was unsettling. Bathroom / toilet systems were noisy.
Fantastic experience: Excellent hotel with large bedrooms and immaculate bar and common areas. Stayed on a Sunday night so was very quiet but staff were great and the food we had in the bar was good quality.
Negative experience: Maltesers from previous guest were on our carpet when we arrived. When we returned to the room late evening I rang reception on hotel phone, I let it ring until cut off 3 times no reply. I rang on my mobile and after another 3 attempts someone answered. The item requested arrived half past midnight! On checkout we were told we owed £25 for a dog in the room! We don't own a dog. Male receptionist needs customer service update!

Positive experience: Not enough bar staff .. Room was good. I was so looking forward to breakfast. Breakfast was not good.. Scrabbled egg was inedible very poor food.. Deffinatly not 4 star no masks being worn to help us feel safe. Staff In restaurant long hair not tied up.. She was also more or less sitting on the counter by the bread station
Negative experience: Stayed for a conference and there was no dairy free milk, allergens weren’t visible on the buffet and vegan/veggie food ran out quickly. Such a basic thing to get right!! Bed was uncomfortable and room could have done with a more thorough clean.

Negative experience: The bath towel had stains so I didn't use it. The toilet, sink and bathtub had water scale. The kettle had heavy water scale. The food wasn't very good. The cutlery wasn't polished. The coffee machines kept malfunctioning.

Positive experience: I enjoyed this place. With its spa, pool and heated rooms. It has a great little restaurant that turns into a a breakfast buffet in the morning. A decent bar and patio areas. Really comfortable beds in tidy rooms and all set in a huge park, with tree lined entrance. What's not to like.
Negative experience: There was no food so had to order a take away it was past nine when we had finally eaten a meal. The hotel should have let us know so we could have made arrangements. The room was not the best, we had twin so the beds had just been pulled apart. The floor hasn't seen a hoover for quite some time. The walls are all marked in the room.. The bed base was covered in something which was not very pleasant. The tiles near the shower Re broken the shower side was useless it kept opening and flooding the bathroom. The mould in the shower corner was disgusting. We won't be.rreturning here in the future

Negative experience: Me and my partner have been looking at wedding venues and came across Alexandra House. By the brochure and packages we thought what a lovely setting and within our budget. This was by far one of our favourites (and my go to more than others) however when we arrived for our booked viewing at 11am we had the receptionist and chef come to us (after being told to take a seat and waiting 10 minutes) and told us that none of the planners who specialised in the weddings were in. After stating we were specifically told to come today and not having any persons in to show us around is atrocious. A round trip of 1 hr and half was done and for nothing! Apparently the colleagues even tried calling the planners themselves and did not even get an answer! What a shambles! The only thing I can say is thank god for their chef. He was lovely, apologetic and very embarrassed and if only the rest of the staff were like him. It's safe to say we will not attend for another viewing and can't believe the unprofessionalism we had received.

Negative experience: Firstly and most importantly I appreciate the hospitality business has been hit the worst through the pandemic! BUT.......we stayed 29th August to 30th 2021 for a wedding. The hotel itself looks lovely from the front, unfortunately this is where it ends. There is clearly a lack of staff, holes in ceilings, garden/patio areas unloved and it all looks outdated in my opinion. The rooms are the worst.....my son's room had dirty glasses on the floor, water in the carpet (from a water leak in ceiling) , a dirty thong by the side of the bed and mould on the ceiling. Our room had a shower that was either freezing cold or burn hot and no Inbetween, mould on ceilings and BLOOD on the duvet cover. It's clear senior management haven't been doing their job properly sadly. In its current state I'd rate this a 2 star hotel at best. I will say the staff were nice when spoken to but they don't ask you about your stay or how you are. Manners are one of the key things in life especially in the hotel and hospitality sector. I've stayed at better and cheaper hotels!

Positive experience: We stayed here one night on our way to a camping trip. The hotel is modern and very clean. Our room was big with a comfortable bed. I slept so well. The meal in the restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. We used the pool, jacuzzi, and steam room which were all clean and modern. Only slight complaints were the lack of gluten free bread or cereal at breakfast, the coffee machine wasn’t working either. Also, there were no plastic bags to put your wet swimwear in after using the pool. Even so, we enjoyed our stay.
Fantastic experience: Joined the gym so can go swimming. Not huge pool but has steam room sauna jacuzzi as well. Just really convenient and suits my needs. Very quiet, and great location
Negative experience: Quite possibly one of the worst run hotels I've ever stayed in.Arrived and room I was given wasn't fully cleaned, had to wait for an hour for this. After being there for over a week arrived to my room to find it had been cleaned so well my belongings were nowhere to be seen. Finally tracked them down with no sign of my charger or toiletries. Got back to my room an hour later a stranger let himself in as reception had given him my room! Other things to note; Everyday my key card wouldn't work which meant a long walk to reception. The WiFi is terrible And they'd completely ran out of beer on tap one night.

Negative experience: We did not get as far as staying. We booked on Wednesday. Friday night we got an email at 6 o’clock saying that booking was cancelled with no explanation. We had booked Saturday night. This meant we could not go away for the weekend as it was then prohibitively expensive. Not sure whether this is the hotel is full or Booking.com. I’ve never had this problem booking on these websites before.

Negative experience: Looked beautiful and reasonably priced. Bedding clean, however, room wasn't as clean as I expected.... Couldn't get coffee cups off the tray due to tipped instant coffee on tray which clearly hadn't been washed. Unexceptable anyway but especially during covid!

Negative experience: From the off it was an unprofessional stay. The front desk staff had a extremely moody persona, no service with a smile from him! Once in our room, which had a sticker saying all sanitised for your protection.... hmm maybe not. 1st off the bed looked like it had been made by a toddler, there was 2 spiders hanging in the corner obviously been there a while, and died probably from the oppressive atmosphere of the place. The roman blind was broken and the dust was so thick on it, it made me sneeze madly. The carpet still had what looked like crumbs on it.. so as well as bed making & dusting, hoovering isn't a strong point here. Forward to dinner... well let's say they do not cater to all, ordered the "vegan burger & sweet potato fries" what I got was a mushy microwaved looking vegetable/curry/baby food looking mess in a soggy bun with freezer type French fries. When I queried this I was told the menu was going through a revamp so some foods didn't match what was written.... they failed to let us know this when we sat down to order.... Breakfast was the same, a sloppy mess of fatty bacon, sausages, eggs swimming in oil...no vegan options available at all, no vegan butter or milk & when I asked for some soya milk I was told "oh I'll check, I think there was some around here somewhere" then was told that they hadn't ordered any so couldn't I just drink my tea black!! And don't get me started of the fully equipped gym and family sized pool!!!! There's so much more but my finger is cramping writing this so I'll end with this. A very disappointing and unprofessional experience, will not reccomend and definitely will not be returning.

Positive experience: The hotel is located in a big countryside with some tennis courts swimming and spa facilities. Our room is clean and with all the basic amenities. There a big bar area with sittings inside and some tables outside. Dinner at their restaurant is lovely. Breakfast is buffet style. Overall is a nice weekend getaways for us.
Negative experience: I didn’t get as far as staying, I was trying to book online but had a question about check in times so tried calling 10 times with no answer, I eventually popped in and was met by not the friendliest person who said ‘our phone lines have been down for 5 days’ as if this was normal, I explained I was trying to book a room for tonight but had a question about check in times and he said ‘we have no rooms for tonight’ so it’s a good job I didn’t book on booking.com and turn up there, no apologies just very blunt and unhelpful, it all seemed abit of a shambles to be honest, I was looking forward to staying as it looked like a nice venue. Luckily holiday inn around the corner were very helpful and allowed me to book a room with them.

Negative experience: I did not enjoy my stay at Alexandra House unfortunately. I could hear music in my room and when I phoned to the reception not too much action was taken as it was on for one hour more. The most concerning episode was when someone had access to my room at 3:30 am when I was alone at my stay. After this I had very bad sleep. Apart from change my keys no more action or compensation was offered. Even if the room looks acceptable and the team nice, I did expect better stay than I had.

Negative experience: Very poor customer service I’m outraged how slow and poor the service was. Furthermore, the staff kept on bugging me about my offer that I got every time I wanted to eat. The WIFI was terrible and didn’t work a lot of the time. The room had no mini fridge and the bathrooms were cheap. Overall the room was very average.

Negative experience: The room was nice but wifi sucked. Was moved room 3 times. Access refused to my guide dog. Was rectified but lack of communication with staff. Further training needed. Pool was nice, room was nice but needs work.
