Positive experience: Have been a member for 21 years and I have enjoyed my time as a member. No problems with the staff and they do a great job. However the facilities feel in decline. Sauna now out of order, pool closed over the Xmas period, nearly thrown of a faulty stepper machine earlier in the year. There also appears that members pay different amounts for theiir membership which also annoying……
Fantastic experience: I have only been going to Nuffield fitness centre in Aylesbury a few months . I joined the pain clinic. What a great 3 months I had under the supervision of Christina, so encouraging & motivating. The place is clean and all the equipment is so up to-date. Staff are very friendly & helpful, not more I can say, fully recommend joining
Fantastic experience: Amazing revamped facility, top equipment and great environment. Good service with friendly staff and super clean and comfortable gym for everyone from beginners to professional athletes to train at. The new management and experience PTs make the gym what it is now and the best in Aylesbury.

Fantastic experience: Have just completed 12 weeks on the joint pain programme with the wonderful Christina. What a fantastic course! It has helped me so much to recognise the need to lose weight (and achieve it as I have dropped 2 dress sizes) to help take the pressure off my painful joints. This is a charity funded health course, so free to qualifying participants and the best referral my GP could have made. Christina is passionate about her work and her enthusiasm is infectious. She pushes you to be the best you can be and commits 200% to your wellbeing. Can’t thank her enough for all the support and genuine interest in me, my health and quality of life - absolutely the BEST!!!!

Fantastic experience: I've been pretty bad at getting to the gym this time with health issues etc but I've been lucky enough to get a phone call from a member of the team asking me to would I be interested in PT sessions as I hadn't been to the gym in a year but was still paying membership anyway I took em up on the offer and I'm going regularly now and have a brilliant PT called Mac Stott and I absolutely recommend working with him if you can, or are finding it hard to motivate yourself to get back into the gym. He really takes an interest in his clients progress.

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff which always smile, good facilities and never very busy especially the non-rush hour I used it, sauna works great which was the main reason I changed my old gym.Always clean in changing rooms and gym hall and lot of staff around always. Happy with my choice.

Fantastic experience: My experience has been great - as a late starter to using a gym, I was hesitant but I’ve been welcomed and helped at every stage of learning to use equipment and being encouraged to try more machines. The changing rooms are clean and spacious. Having a personal trainer has definitely been motivating and helped me see results after just a few months. The group classes are varied and friendly- I’ve been encouraged to try so many different ones with no judgement if I can’t quite carry out the exact moves! I wish I had more time to try some of the daytime sessions as they look interesting. I think that’s my main reason for enjoying the Aylesbury Nuffield- it’s so varied that you don’t get bored and there’s always encouragement from staff and other members.

Negative experience: Used to love using this gym. Until Guiseppi who is supposedly the manager decided to be extremely rude and insulting and then refused to apologise. He was obnoxious, he even tried to justify his disgraceful manner. Avoid this gym and the obnoxious, codensending management.

Fantastic experience: Top facilities, top team! From the first moment that I attended to register, I was greeted within 2 minutes, given a tour, processed the paperwork with the registration team who was kind, efficient, concise and very accommodating! The facilities are excellent and the pool / sauna / steam room combo was one that is absolutely perfect! Never too busy in terms of capacity and always a comfortable ambiance so as to both relax and get the exercise done! Would highly recommend with zero hesitation!

Negative experience: This gym isn’t great. I’ve been going for a few years and recently cancelled my membership due to the gym declining in standards. The equipment is old, and the pieces remain broken for ages. It’s sometimes dirty, with bits of food and metal shavings on the floor. It hasn’t been renovated in a long time, so the walls and sideboards are all scuffed up and it needs a thorough refurbishing. It’s also small and it’s very often overly busy. It is definitely not worth the expensive membership fees, and it is the worst Nuffield I’ve seen.

Fantastic experience: Great club with welcoming staff. Compared to other nuffield gyms visited the Aylesbury one is generally much better - cleaner, more friendly, modern, good atmosphere, lovely studios. Would like a larger area dedicated to mats and mirrors and a small cafe area with a dedicated workspace area would make it more appealing and useable.

Negative experience: I’m baffled as to how this gym can justify their £50 + membership fee. The equipment is dated, no virtual screens, like a gym from the late 90s, the space is non existent, no free space to move around the gym and it’s constantly overcrowded. Wifi doesn’t work! The steam room and sauna seems to be constantly out of use. Classes are hit and miss. Compared to some clubs it’s really poor and I think Nuffield need to be accountable for what they are charging members vs what services they are offering. Thankfully my 12 month membership runs out this month and I won’t be returning.

Negative experience: Signed up only because it has a sauna and steam and far too often these are closed or are not up to the correct temperature. It takes several days if not weeks for them to be fixed. Could understand if it was cheap monthly subscription but at £62 a month it’s incredibly disappointing. These issues should be resolved promptly.

Fantastic experience: Completed my 12 week Joint Pain programme with Christina.She taught us various exercises every week which kept us motivated.I have benefited by attending the classes and Iam having less pain now than when I started. Fantastic experience: Just finished the 12 week joint pain rehabilitation programme, which has given me more flexibility and movement, as suffering with osteoarthritis and other painful ailments. Able to have taster sessions on equipment, and with encouragement from Christina, managed things I never thought I would be able to do. I am in pain most of the time but without this course, it would be very easy to give up and become a couch potato. Thank you for this opportunity.

Fantastic experience: Five stars from me for the Joint Pain Programme. Just finishing the 12 week supported sessions and the PT, Christina, has been first class. Excellent variety, guidance and clear instructions, which enabled me to get the most out of the sessions. Yoga, Pilates and breathing & meditation group classes also extremely good. Pool well cared for and warm. I really recommend this programme, it’s been so helpful, and has given me the confidence to get back in the gym after a protracted break.

Fantastic experience: As part of the Joint Pain Programme run by the Nuffield Charity using the Nuffield gyms, my experience at Aylesbury has been superb. The course has been varied ranging from using resistance bands to free weights to a whole range of exercise movements that target the upper and lower body. The course has been interesting with some sessions being used for tasters in Pilates, meditation & breathing. Some gym tasters have involved gym equipment for upper and lower body. I’ve come away with course notes, a booklet from the 12-week trainer-led course and have met some lovely people on the course too. This course has been quite an eye opener and extremely useful. Aylesbury gyms facilities are excellent too. With a range of classes for low impact needs, plus a swimming pool and two saunas in addition to the gym, changing rooms, showers and three studios for classes, I’ve been impressed with the quantity and the range of equipment in the gym and studios. My favourite has been to learn yoga in one of the extra (free to members) studio sessions. The staff and physical trainers are all friendly and helpful but my favourite has been Christina. (thank you) Copious car parking space is provided too.

Fantastic experience: I attended the Joint pain programme with Christina and I found it to be a most therapeutic and positive experience. Not only did I find that the pain in my knees reduced significantly I also found that i adopted some very useful techniques and exercises that I can extend quite seamlessly into everyday life. Fantastic experience: I am nearing the end of the joint pain programme and I cannot fault the classes I have attended. Lots of advice on exercise, wellbeing and weight management in easy to digest sections. The course culminates in you being let loose on the facilities free of charge for 12 weeks. To conclude, Nuffield Health has changed my life!

Negative experience: They need to give the equipment an upgrade if not done so already as have been here on a temporary membership afraid to say very rusty and old equipment gym is very small with no personal space it really is a shame as could be so much better to spend a little cost on gym equipment could go along way. This includes class equipment pure gym has extensive new weights new everything and seems to be kept in good order. I was told an upgrade is due hopefully that happens.

Fantastic experience: Being a new member here i can say that it's been an incredible experience so far. The staff are very friendly and are always willing to help you with your needs. They are always ready to answer any questions or offer guidance. The facility itself is clean, well-maintained and fully equipped with everything I need to get a great workout. The pool, sauna and steam room are also great places to go and relax.

Positive experience: I had been a member for an year and few months leaving last year. They have good classes, I used to love to do spin classes and body pump. The gym in the second floor is simple and very busy in the peak time (4 to 7pm).The reason for my 3star review is due to the booking system they use to have which was awful, classes fully booked way in advance and sometime you show up and there was that busy. Definitely a point to improve.

Negative experience: Club as a whole is tired and badly needs a refresh. The equipment is in dire state. Spin bikes in Studio 3 are equipment that’s been recycled (no pun intended) from another club 5 years ago, and are now on life support. The club’s recently been forced to remove all the cadence monitors because they can’t maintain them; and it’s hard to find a spin bike with working clip-on pedals. Desk staff are disinterested youngsters. Notable exception is the lovely older lady who covers the desk on Fridays, and who does her best to greet incoming members and make them feel welcome instead of a tiresome chore, which is how younger members of the team seem to view it. One strong point the club has is its instructor staff, who are all top notch, and do the best they can with the decidedly mediocre resources at their disposal. Overall: Hardly a premium experience worth £57 per month.

Negative experience: Been a member 4 years and only continue as it’s convenient to walk to. This Place is consistently dirty I find and the pool area frequently smells of urine. Previously found puddles of urine in the changing rooms and informed staff who seemed unsurprised suggesting this is a somewhat a regular occurrence. Staff are fairly friendly. Other members not so much. Find them selfish and rude, unwilling to share space or equipment. More presence from staff in gym areas and encouragement to members to behave appropriately would be beneficial. Especially regarding phone use pool side which I have frequently reported to reception having witnessed members filming when children are swimming which I find very uncomfortable. Overall not worth cost at all. Go there to relax and often leave more het up and anxious over what I’ve seen or experienced. Have previously tried to give feedback via email but have been told I am wrong by the manager who is unwilling to listen to any constructive criticism or suggestions. Also expect them to be without hot water at least once a month!!!!

Negative experience: Decent enough but not top tier by any stretch. I mostly use the gym which is ok but it’s more like a nice hotel gym than a proper gym. Most equipment is very dated and there’s just not a lot of it. Cardio area is massive and usually less than 10% occupied and generally there’s only 1 of each exercise in the weights machines. Free weights area is also very cramped and recently they’ve started putting the weights at odd places all around the gym rather than near the weights area. Generally don’t find the PT’s in the gym very welcoming at all, primarily the male ones. One in particular will scream and generally be very loud while working out which in a fairly quiet health club type gym is a bit strange and gets noticed by the whole room. I get the half price discount through my insurance and for that it’s ok at best. It wouldn’t be anywhere near the quality a full membership costs. Would likely leave if it wasn’t conveniently located for me.

Positive experience: I've been a member for 9 weeks, always greeted with a friendly welcoming smile and 'hello'. Everywhere seems clean and looked after. I've used the gym, swimming pool, sauna and attended yoga classes. The pool doesn’t have a lifeguard unless there are children present, both of which I found surprising. No idea why it's necessary for a parking company to oversee the car park. If you forget to sign in and are there more than 3 hours, look forward to an extortionate parking fine! Beyond this, any negatives are about other members rather than Nuffield but they could do more to encourage member etiquette ie... ask users with long hair to tie it up when entering the pool, I don't want someone else's hair on me while I'm swimming. Enforce the no mobile phones poolside rule. Use appropriate swimming lanes.

Negative experience: Welcomed as a new member of Nuffield Health Aylesbury with a £100 parking fine for using the free gym car park. Apparently you have to log your reg number at reception, but nobody told me that, and then Nuffield Health refused to remove the fine without charging me a £10 admin fee.

Positive experience: It’s an “ok” Nuffield. Staff are pleasant Unlike previous comments ,I do find the Club really clean. Public areas and changing rooms are regularly cleaned. The gym floor itself is OK As I type I am on a cross trainer that is probably over 10 years old. CV equipment is really dated . It would appear to me that whole establishment would benefit from an upgrade. Pool Is good and clean. Steam and sauna likewise.

Negative experience: Totally ignored my requests to suspend my membership (temporarily until I feel it is safe to come back). Never even had a courtesy to respond to my requests, just took out a direct debit payment. Not a way to treat customers, I am afraid. I am cancelling my membership for good now.
Positive experience: Increased from 1 to 3 stars as the staff here are mostly excellent, friendly and attentive. Use this gym a lot using as a non-member. I sadly wouldn't join unless they sort many things out. Cleanliness is the main problem. Firstly I went here first about 15 years ago and 95% of the centre is identical. The equipment is rusty (yes from sweat not because it is deep cleaned); the showers are encrusted with limescale; the TV connection sounds as if you have plugged into your slightly broken Walkman from 1992. The need for refurbishment is beyond believable. Although Nuffield states as 'not for profit' I have no idea where they are reinvesting their money. Sadly the greatest criticism is the cleanliness of some areas. Particuarly the changing areas. Management - some of your cleaners are great, others are simply not suitable. This is sold as a premium gym and requires attention to detail. Spraying a hose at a shower is not cleaning it (just an example). The walls of the steam room are slimy. A once daily clean is simple unsuitable with the volume of users. Ironically I won't stop coming to the gym because it has a steam room, sauna, and pool (the latter of which nearly always has an aroma of urine as you walk in). But until there is drastic change I would never commit to membership. Is there any pride of the management here because sadly it seems like neglected and dilapidated leisure centre not a premium health club...? I never attach pictures to a review but these were taken after watching the same areas for over a month not get touched. Please sort it out as you are treating all your customers very unfairly.
Negative experience: Staff are really nice and helpful but the price for the gym is way too much for what it is, I’ve Been to many gyms that are better than Nuffield and are a quarter of the price. The weights are not enough for me personally and the equipment is very poor, I wouldn’t recommend a lot of people to not go there unless you’re rich and want to do nothing at the gym.

Fantastic experience: Great service, great knowledge base and great kit. The pool has always been great, plenty of machines and the staff are all helpful and make an effort to know you and to understand your goals. Best gym I have belonged to.

Negative experience: Equipment is very old and many of the cardio machines are "out of order", no jacuzzi and for the price point versus higher tier nuffiled gyms that have much better more modern equipment and a jacuzzi and are open for longer which are only £10 ish more makes the Aylesbury nuffield quite expensive for what it is, the staff however are lovely and welcoming apart from just 1 lady there is an Australian/new Zealand larger lady that has the customer service skills of a bus driver, its not very difficult that when customers walk in to greet the customer with a smile and hello an goodbye, those are just the basics you would think would be told to you to perform when working at any reception but guess not, everyone else is however lovely and very welcoming throughout.
Negative experience: Really quite dirty there, kids in the pool which I wouldn’t want if I was paying £70 a month for it, more like a cheap leisure centre. Small gym, enough said about that. My partner got given a card for the lockers but when I asked for one I was refused unless I left my bank card or car key, ended up not taking a card as I didn’t trust them with my valuables. Thank god it was only a free trial, won’t be seeing us again
Negative experience: Overpriced, staff don’t care - no reply to emails or calls returned. Over charged direct debits more than once and blame it on system errors. Appalling gym, would not recommend to anyone.
Negative experience: Asked for my membership to be cancelled back in March/April due to relocation and I was told that it is cancelled and any extra monies taken off will be refunded back to me. Yet I check my bank to find out that not only nothing is refunded back but the gym is still taking money out of my account up till this date regardless of how many times I have emailed and called to chase it up and reconfirm that I want to cancel my memebership!! I don’t understand how hard it can be to simply cancel someone’s membership after they give you notice and follow up on the notice. Why is this still on going and nobody has bothered to cancel my membership and refund the extra monies taken for the following months: Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul. Absolutely shocking.
Negative experience: When I google search Tai Chi Nuffield Gym came up. I phoned and they don't do it. And you have to become a member

You are correct, we do not currently do Tai Chi, however if there is sufficient member demand we may review provision of classes to see if this can be accommodated, in the future. All online bookable classes are included in the membership cost. In order to access these you do need to be a member of the club. Negative experience: I visit lots of gyms but this is the first one which I have joined as a member. The facilities are excellent and the sauna and steam room were the final reason for me joining. However for long periods of time some facilies have been out of order including the sauna and the lighting failed for a long time in the steam room, whilst they rectified these issues I felt that very little was being done to help to customer in the meantime. My biggest issue with the gym, which is the reason for the luke-warm review is the payment and membership system. I am on a month by month contract which results in it being very expensive (£63/month) and the billing system requires a full month's notice before cancellation. Therefore it is very easy to end up paying an extra £63 even if you are a day late. I find this cheeky because I strongly doubt it takes a full month to process my cancelling request, and to get onto the direct debit when starting the gym doesnt take a month, I fear it may be another ambiguous "gym policy" which is actually to the detriment of the customer
