Fantastic experience: Lovely soft play, which is contained, so there is no risk of children walking off and getting lost. It's easy for grown ups to navigate to help there children.

Negative experience: Dirty pool. Hello Leisure centre management. The pool floor is filthy, especially at the deep end. There is sand and debris and it has been like that for over a month. I raised it with the on site manager last week but it needs to be done sooner rather than later.

Negative experience: The lifeguard this morning was not speaking to me very nicely just because the ladies had to complain about me in the slow lane even though I’m trying to avoid leaning against the Edge side of the slow lane pool. I just worry about bashing my toe. So never again I’ll be coming back. The ladies at the Reception deck she was friendly but I just didn’t like the lifeguard guy he was not very understanding my feelings that I’ve got.

Fantastic experience: Good swimming pool,but should have more time for adult in the evening. 7.30- 8 pm is to late. At least one swim line when is family fun. Nice and clean.

Fantastic experience: Great centre. Have used the pool to bring my children swimming. Temp of water was fine and pool and changing area were clean. Also been to a party in the sports hall. Great set up with ample space. Highly recommended.

Negative experience: Gym is too small, over crowded, poor ventilation, very old equipment. Have to walk very far to the changing rooms and there are no toilets in there. Very expensive too. They close earlier than the time stated. AWFUL

Fantastic experience: A very good leisure centre in Reading. Attended for the Durga puja celebrations this year (2024) and cannot lie but admit that it exceeded my expectations and outstood. The space is massive and the facilities are very good.

Negative experience: Waste of money. They take months to repair gym machines. Most water taps are not working. The gym instructor doesn't provide any suggestions or support. Good luck

Negative experience: The swimming pool is disgusting, I wonder how much bacteria in the pool and whether it has ever been cleaned. Changing area is also dirty all around. Booking for badminton court is so expensive but there aren’t many available in the area so have no choice.

Positive experience: The gym and other facilities are generally decent for the whole family. However, a minor improvement would be to allocate space by removing some of the 20 treadmills to create additional space for weight training, which tends to be busier.

Positive experience: Went swimming here with my daughter, while the facilities appear to be great, well maintained, clean etc. The reason for the lower review is the staff friendliness and helpfulness, I feel that they were almost annoyed by my partner and I asking some questions. If you have a public facing role you should be expected to engage happily with the public and not annoyed at their presence!

Positive experience: Good parking space There are 10 good badminton courts, but the lights are not done properly. Lights are directly into the eyes and you can't see the shuttle properly when it is tossed until it comes near.

Fantastic experience: Really enjoyed aqua fit class at Loddon Valley. Great fun.

Negative experience: Spells of too much bleach in the morning. It's absolutely disgusting and I bet you can't stand there for 5 mins. Had to go to BULMERSHE branch this morning as it was too bad with fumes for Bleach hitting you as soon as you enter the gym.

Negative experience: I’ve been going to this gym for years, but took a break for a little while. I called today to enquire into family memberships where the members are all over the age 18.. albeit I didn’t quite explain it properly, the lady was extremely impatient and then made up an stupid excuse about the line ‘breaking up’. I’ve only ever had pleasant customer experiences with Loddon valley which is why I didn’t rate it one star. But I’m not quite sure why they have someone on the membership phone line that has absolutely no patience and is not willing to listen to customers. Very disappointing. Has put me completely off the gym and will not be returning. Very rude.

Fantastic experience: Came here for a birthday party. My son enjoyed the soft play and then there was a room to eat.

Negative experience: Very small car park not capable of dealing with the capacity available inside the centre for events. The on-site staff directing us suggested an alternative car park (signed as the overflow for the leisure centre), which whilst not full when we arrived had no spaces available due to the old ladies of Suttons Bowls Club being rather aggressive about not letting paying customers park there

Negative experience: Extremely unethical financial practices. Cancelling memberships is almost impossible, despite following instructions they will still charge you money and add additional “administration fees” on months after you cancel. Recently my partner has been charged £47 two months after cancelling and money has been taken from me even though my membership is frozen. I’ve been trying to cancel my membership and despite it being frozen, I have to pay £27 to cancel it as you have to pay for the next month and give 15 days notice to do so, but your access to the facilities will still be restricted. Website and app are nightmares to use and customer service is almost non-existent. Facilities are okay. Not worth £27 a month + £20 administration fee, and certainly not worth being charged almost £50 after cancelling. DO NOT BUY A MEMBERSHIP UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Go anywhere else, Puregym, other local gyms, ANYWHERE but this gym or facilities owned by places leisure.

Positive experience: It is slightly outdated now and needs a revamp compared to other places' valley centres like bulmurshe. The swimming pool is the worst part and needs serious TLC as well as a water reclean. The sports and clubs offered, however, are amazing and make up for it. Good big sports hall which is home ground for reading basketball team. I have been multiple times and always worth a watch. Overall, it is good, but it needs help in some areas.

Positive experience: A great leisure centre for those who enjoy sports and active movement; I do recommend the Places Leisure membership for as it saves a ton of money the more you visit here - swimming and the soft play is free with the membership!

Negative experience: I mainly use this leisure for the gym, which is quite big but doesn't have enough weight training equipment for its size, especially for popular things like the bench press. It's also ridiculously crowded pretty much any time of day. I spend most of my time there waiting for the equipment I want to be free. It's quieter at the weekend but the gym closes at 7.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays which is really inconvenient.

Positive experience: It's far too cold in the hall where I go for the Shine pilates class. Please can you put the heating on before we arrive.

Negative experience: Whilst attending a 6yr old party, the Staff are moving furniture through the middle of the party, tables and chairs. complete joke as children are running around, ridingbike and using inflatables Who is doing the health and safety training. Not very considerate of the paying family

Negative experience: Quite expensive membership considering that a lot of the classes are still "virtual" after covid. The virtual classes are very difficult to follow as the voices are not very clear with the loud music. Additionally there doesn't seem to be much warm-up, the classes I have attended start quite suddenly without much introduction. Also, a shame there is no option to have a gym & class membership, a waste to have swim included when you don't use the pool.

Fantastic experience: This is a good venue. Has lots of equipment which seems to be kept well and up to date. It's always clean, the staff are always happy and helpful and it's reasonably priced. We use the kids soft play a lot and the pool is good too. Sometimes it's a bit cold but you get used to it. Not tried the gym but looks like it's ok. The halls are big and have events in them quite often which you have to buy tickets for the particular event. Easy booking system online. Car park is not big and gets full quite quick but it's free. Overall it's a nice a leisure centre and recommended.

Positive experience: Shame that the maintenance of the spinning bikes is so poor. I counted at least six bikes unable to be used this morning

Negative experience: Rude receptionist, Racist teenagers commented on Indian people passing through their automated barriers This is serious offence behaviour of teenagers and how can loddon valley leisure centre be so careless, The management needs to checks CCCTV footage of the day.

Negative experience: Swimming pool changing areas are rubbish. Some parts of the centre were refurbished but badly maintained. Racket sport rules keep changing depending on who you talk to and their mood. Staff not helpful.

Negative experience: For anyone looking at getting a membership, be careful. Even when checking in at the front desk, you may find you will be charged for a 'Non-attendance fee'. This has occurred frequently (3 times under 2 months) I would insist anyone get a membership card to do self check-in if they want to come here, which wasn't offered to me at first until I complained. I wouldn't recommend coming here, and I will myself be leaving once the contract ends and finding somewhere elsewhere.

Negative experience: Unfortunately the training pool was very cold despite being told it was maintained at 30.6 degrees our babies were shivering even with a warmsuit on so had to get out early, also changing facilities absolutely filthy!

Positive experience: Went swimming in the training pool. The pool was cold and wasn't that big. But the kids had fun anyway. Family Changing room units are not big. Clean and tidy. There are hairdryers available. The soft play room is fantastic.quiet big and on 3 levels. Best one I've seen in the club so far.

Fantastic experience: Amazing pool 3 lifeguards on duty , very clean perfect . Only thing I did not like is that during family time there's people swimming laps when there s a time just for that . Really took the joy out of it . Should not be allowed. Amazing place and the front staff so helpfull

Negative experience: Went for soft play today. Seemed like a lovely play area but would not recommend in the holidays as there was too many children there. I found the space was not big enough for the number of children allowed. Parents do not watch their children which resulted in a few children ruining the experience for most.

Here is my review of Loddon Valley Leisure Centre: Pros: The gym is well-equipped with a variety of machines and free weights. The swimming pool is large and clean, and there are a variety of different pools to choose from, including a learner pool, a diving pool, and a wave pool. There are a variety of group exercise classes available, including yoga, Pilates, Zumba, and spinning. The staff are friendly and helpful. Cons: The changing rooms can be quite crowded, especially at peak times. The cafe is a bit overpriced. Overall: Loddon Valley Leisure Centre is a great place to work out, swim, or take a class. The facilities are well-maintained and the staff are friendly. However, the changing rooms can be crowded and the cafe is a bit overpriced.

Positive experience: One of my most positive fitness experiences. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good range and availability of classes, instructors are welcoming and helpful when you're new to a class. Doesn't feel intimidating when you're not a regular or super fit. Decent range of equipment in the gym, at least for a beginner, and don't tend to wait long, if at all, for something to free up. Would love to see more variety of leg machines between the weightlifting and cardio sections as a few common ones are missing. Swimming is easy to book and have been able to go at convenient times. Just wish some swimmers were more considerate of others, like leaving enough room for quicker swimmers to pass or fast swimmers not staying in the slow lane when the medium lane isn't busy. Can be frustrating when others aren't aware of their surroundings but not really something the leisure centre can control. Never had a major issue with changing room cleanliness although the changing rooms are a bit dated. Floors are a lot better since the signage to remove outdoor shoes has been more prominently displayed. Only knocked off one star as the car park can be busy sometimes and feels a bit small compared to the size of the centre and although the facility has everything I need, it feels a bit pricey for a leisure centre.

Positive experience: I like the gym. Problem with this place is Wokingham Council has control of the facility so despite of paying money level of service is pretty average. Unfortunately front desk unfriendly staff is enough to deal with. Gym staff is great though.

Negative experience: The sports hall floor is full of multi colour line markings for various sports, don't know which sport we are playing while booked for badminton, the lighting is very odd and falls directly into your eye, the area is separated by curtains and given to martial arts at the same time we play. What is this??? Value for money :0 They charge 15£ per 1 hour Badminton Court. Absolutely minting money

Positive experience: Been regular here for indoor games. We used to play badminton very week for about 4-5 hrs and after covid the prices have shot up . The staff are rude and courts are blazing with lights, which makes it very difficult to play.

Fantastic experience: Great soft play and lots to do for the kids from giant slides, to building walls out of foam bricks. Nice cafe and you can relax whilst your kids play or get stuck in, like I do

Negative experience: My experience in the pool was disappointing, a strong smell of chlorine that even irritated my eyes, dirty water and people in pants and shirts bathing. I didn't see hygiene in this pool.

Fantastic experience: I come here for the swimming pool at least 1-2 times a week. The Steam Room and Sauna are such a highlight just makes my exercise that bit more fun. I am missing the Jacuzzi though.

Positive experience: All the people that work here seem lovely, helpful and professional. Could do with better management of swimmers during lane swim sessions as you often find people pausing and blocking the end of lanes having a chat. Big downside is cleanliness. Changing rooms can literally be muddy where people wear their outdoor shoes and then the cleaning doesn't rectify quickly enough. This is particularly bad when children are in the pool. Also seen buggies parked in the changing area so dirty wheels in no outdoor show areas. Often big clumps of hair all over the place too. Wokingham doesn't seem to have the same issues so sharing of best practice might be a good idea

Positive experience: Good sized local leisure centre with swimming pool, sports hall and fitness center. There is a medium sized soft play which my kids enjoy. Booking in advance is recommended for most activities. Membership is a little pricey when compared to other local sports centers which have similar offerings.

Positive experience: This is a great, clean little softplay frame with plenty of variety to amuse the kids. There's no seating within the softplay room unless you sit on top on the shoe storage, so the tables & chairs are outside the room & you need to keep scanning the barcode on your ticket each time you want to get back in. No problem with older children but not so ideal with younger ones. The cafe sells Costa coffee from a machine & a few basic snacks.

Positive experience: Great facilities, and very clean and serviceable. But crowded and short of parking spaces when they have an event such as football or basketball. Why do football players need to change in the pool changing rooms? No changing spaces available for swimming at 4pm on Sunday. We had to wait - using some of our paid swimming time. Even the supermarket was short of spaces....

Negative experience: If i could give any stars it would be negative 5! I have never given a review like this but here it goes. My daughter who just turned 4 years old when she joined the swim class, had a very traumatic experience, and as a result I am worried she has completely lost interest in swimming! The very first day my daughter attended. The swimming instructor acted as if we did not exist, He gave the swim cap to the other new kid(white). And just walked away, mind you I was there first and I was infront of the other lady. That's just plain discrimination! The pool is cold and if this is an indoor pool, I believe it should be at least warm for kids. I noticed the female instructors are very rude and disrespectful! In the last swim class my daughter attended. My daughter didn't wear the swim cap because she had rashes and complained of itchiness. A young female (instructor). Walked up to me and told me if there is a fire she wont get my daughter. Who the hell says that to a mother! That same day, she forced put on a poorly tight fitting swim cap on a child's head causing obvious pain and discomfort. This caused the child to cry. No remorse! I just had enough! That day I decided she won't attend any swim class! My daughter always complains" they are not being nice to me". It got so bad she begged me not to take her for swim lessons stating "please mama I don't want to to go, I am scared of the lady" This swim class traumatised my daughter. Swimming classes for my daughter in Loddon Valley is one of the worst decisions I have made in my life!

Positive experience: Staff efficient, sports hall needs a good clean. When doing floor exercises floor is dusty and lots of bits that need cleaning.

Negative experience: FREEZING cold family pool my 1 year old was shivering so we had to get out, the changing rooms were so dirty would not recommend! The family changing rooms are also so small could barely fit 2 adults and a baby in.

Positive experience: Car park awful. Lack of family spaces. Parking bays are put in really bad locations on the side of the car park. Priority parking bay for the centre put directly in front of the building opposite where cars are parked which means a tight space to squeeze your car through to get around the car park. Not great when you have a large vehicle. Cars parked in areas where parking is not allowed. The centre should not allow this and not allows customers who go Asda park in the car park. Needs sorting. Not a great experience. Yes there is Asda car park, but surely if you are using the leisure centre you should be able to park there right?

Negative experience: Unfortunately badminton palyers are being treated badly with the dynamically changing rules. Some times they allow more than 4 players and some times they don't allow. When kids are playing parents can't be watchful means for safety reasons parents are not allowed inside to watch kids. It used to be very friendly staff back in 2019 before covid. But now after paying membership and court fees also several times being annoyed by staff wasting our playing slot time nearly 40 minutes of one hour. Have been playing badminton here since several years but last few months the service level has gone down drastically. If not improved better to see for other alternative places. Hardto say though infrastructure is good need to leave the place due to bad service.

Negative experience: Before COVID-19 this is a good leisure Center and I liked playing badminton here. Members can book badminton courts for free. This center rules/policies/prices were changed after COVID-19 to reclaim all the money lost during COVID-19. Badminton players are not free anymore , courts are not cleaned , they invent new rules for badminton players only. By the way if you want to watch your kids play forget about going here they won’t let the parents in.

Negative experience: Very rude staff and discriminatory policies! If your kids play badminton, you are not allowed to stand and watch them play safely. If you do that you are literally kicked out of the premises! Nonsense rules for badminton court bookings. The language and the tone used by the staff is something you never see in service industry. You are better off taking membership elsewhere - Reading University, Woodley anywhere else around the area. They all behave well and have better rules.

Negative experience: If we book a badminton court for 4 they will not let you in until all four people arrive, if additional people arrive, they do not allow them citing health and safety reasons that it will overcrowd the centre however they allow even 10 people in a kickboxing or karate session which is done in a similar amount of space as a badminton court, they also allow parties with any number of people. Many staff here exhibit double standards and unfair and impolite behaviors.

Negative experience: Terribly rude staff (especially the receptionist Codie with a dismissive attitude) and Joe (the useless and rude 'manager'). Inadequate notice to cancel children's swimming lessons meant a wasted journey.

Negative experience: I can see someone complained about the same thing 4 days ago. booked badminton court online, displayed an error message when paying. i then called in to check my booking was there, to which lady confirmed...then on the day i find out my booking is no longer and somebody else had taken my spot. seems they struggle with simple court bookings at this place.

Negative experience: Very bad customer experience, the staff always failed to manage the booking, APP is a disaster, always make you can not book on line due to the wrong payment issue, the reception is extremely useless, only can say sorry, but never try to improve.

Places people, please would you consider placing a Costa coffee machine in the common area so customers don’t have to wait at the coffee bar. Staff there are regularly overwhelmed and you wait ages for a coffee. Thanks.

Negative experience: Update since this 1 star i can give 2. They answered the phone and removed my charges.. - 3 stars awaits if you can cancel with refund but you cant!! Impossible to get anyone to EVER answer the phone! Put charges on your account when there shouldnt be!! Pools nice tho!
