BA14 7JP, Trowbridge
Our comment from FitFit UK about Fieldways:
Fieldways, tucked away in Trowbridge, is a charming hotel that perfectly balances historical character with a welcoming atmosphere. Many guests have praised the friendly and attentive staff, particularly Sue at the reception, who goes above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. Reviewers have highlighted the good breakfast options, including a variety of fruit, yogurt, and the classic full English breakfast, all cooked fresh to start your day right.
Visitors appreciate the location, being in close proximity to the historic city of Bath and numerous family-friendly attractions. The hotel also boasts a good-sized swimming pool and decent gym facilities, making it a suitable choice for those who wish to relax or stay active during their visit.
However, some guests noted that the venue is in need of updates and maintenance. Certain areas are described as dated, with guests mentioning issues such as outdated bathrooms, cold shower temperatures, and some cleanliness concerns. Parking can sometimes be challenging, and the lighting in areas like the car park could be improved. Overall, while there are areas that require attention, many visitors feel that Fieldways is a great value, especially given its unique charm and commitment to hospitality.
In summary, Fieldways is a delightful property with substantial potential, offering a unique stay with its historic charm and friendly service, located near various attractions and leisure facilities.

Fieldways: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Great little gem of a place ... going through some changes but a fantastic place .. will be back .. 100 percent trustworthy too as I forgot my watch and rang to explain and it was already safe and sound
Fantastic experience: Amazing place to stay, made to feel so welcome, room was lovely, warm and very comfortable. Our host Sue was beyond helpful and made us feel right at home, we can't wait to stay there again
Positive experience: I want to give this place more, it's a lovely building but clearly money has not been spent for some time, it needs some rejuvenating
Fantastic experience: Went for a close family wake. Can't fault food, room, staff for their attention. If I had to criticise it would be the lighting of the car park, but Rome wasn't built in a day. All in all, fabulous. Keep up the good work, you'll get there!
Fantastic experience: This was our 4th time staying here. The staff have always been great and the rooms clean and comfortable. We can definitely see how the hotel is improving it's décor and are freshening up it's rooms and public areas. We understand that doing this takes time so keep going. We love staying here due to it's location to the town and our family. Breakfast is always freshly cooked and hot. We always have the full English but there are other options available. Good choice of fruit, yogurt, cereals, toast, jams, fruit juice and unlimited tea and coffee. This is a great little hotel that is refreshing from the big corporate chains and much more expensive hotels.
Fantastic experience: Bellissimo maniero posizionato nei dintorni di Bath. Camere ampie e pulite. Colazione principalmente salata.
Positive experience: Pool out of action, but otherwise perfect. Great value.
Negative experience: Cleaning is a problem
Fantastic experience: We only spent one night here, but the staff were very friendly and helpful. (We have stayed in plenty of others and the experience was quite opposite.) The room we had was well proportioned with a huge bed and the Juliet balcony was a nice touch. My only gripe would be that the bathroom/ shower room fan was very loud. (However, not as loud as our neighbours leaf blower.)
Negative experience: This Hotel should not be on your list ,Booking .com. It is not a safe place, there is no staff after 8 o’clock so in an emergency there be no help on site there is just a phone number. We paid for 4 nights but left after 3, as there was no staff so no breakfast which was included as part of the booking.
Fantastic experience: Super schönes Gebäude, leckeres Frühstück und nette Bedienung
Fantastic experience: The staff was so welcoming and warm. The lady at the reception and at breakfast. All staff seem to be caring for the guests. Facility was very good full of charactors I had a nice swim. Gym looked good also. Our stay was very good !
Positive experience: What a strange, strange place. Its a beautiful manor but found it disapointing that there is no history explained about it. Its mysterious, all we wanted was to know more about it. I want to so badly give this place a high score, for their sake, as I feel like it has a huge amount of potential but in order to earn a high star review, a bit of effort needs to be put in... There was a cherry jelly left behind the mirror in our room Lots of items left on the edge of the swimming pool such as plastic and plasters, and sauna, steam room and jacuzzi out of order. Another couple booked breakfast, but there was no one around so they left. Their was a door left open to the outdoors in the conservatory that wouldnt close, and a leak from the rain. The place just seems run down, and its such a shame because Its such a magical place. I am sure, whoever owns it now, is unable to keep up with the workload or unable to afford to keep it, but I would hate to see it go into further ruin, and just a little clean or love would do it wonders. As far as the room we were in, it was the best nights sleep. The towels and bed linen was all lovely and clean, along with the toilet, and they also provided little soaps and shampoo ect. Reception person showed us to the room. Like I said, the potential is there... Just a little more attention to detail and it would get a higher rating.
Negative experience: Dreadful stay in a smelly hotel with bedbugs. I have never slept with bedbugs before and never want to again.
Positive experience: Gave four because off shower head needs a clean or a new one
Positive experience: Strange to review , had seen better days , had a room in the eves which was nice but old , bath room big with 70's corner bath with hand shower attachment.broken tiles should have been replaced as very obvious. No staff between 8pm and 8am , no bar and toilets out of order in reception area.didnt go to health suite. Breakfast was good and friendly staff. Booked in advance and had to pay extra for dog (dog friendly) on arrival as they weren't aware we had booked with a dog? . Looks like a stately home when booking but is far from it but reflects cost ( though not after paying dog tax). Good location for what we needed , just strange . Parking on site and adequate grounds for a dog walk.
Fantastic experience: Family used this venue and will be using again in the future when visiting. Highly delighted .
Fantastic experience: Amazing property....would definitely recommend. Staff were friendly and couldn't rate high enough. Would stay again A+++
Fantastic experience: Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fieldways. The building has so much character and the room was lovely and warm. Breakfast was exceptional and done to a high quality. It really set the scene for the day and close to Bath. The swimming pool was a delightful addition and the staff have friendly and accommodating. Certainly would go back.
Negative experience: A disappointing stay in some respects. Reception staff, Rachel & Sue, could not have been more helpful & friendly but the condition of the room was poor. The shower was grotty, the bathroom light over the mirror was burnt out & the toilet seat loose. It's a fairly cheap hotel so I did not expect flowers & complementary wine but I do like a clean environment & things to work. (The issues mentioned were reported but nothing done during our 4 night stay)
Fantastic experience: We loved our stay at Fieldways and felt like we had a proper holiday! The actual building is gorgeous with plenty of parking spaces, rooms are spacious and clean and the pool and gym were a highlight for us. The breakfast is tasty and is made to how you like it. Sue the receptionist and all the staff made us feel incredibly welcomed, a really lovely group of people. The location is perfect with pubs and restaurants in walking distance. The city of Bath and Longleat safari park are close by which makes for great days out!
Fantastic experience: Stayed here a night this weekend friendly staff, warm clean room and excellent breakfast setup.
Negative experience: Dismal. Feels like a place haunted by the ghost of the better hotel it once was. Possibly the most depressing place I've stayed in. The love has gone from whoever is running it.
Negative experience: To look at the manor you think your going to get the best. But sadly it's the best nightmares. Me and my husband came here for his job and the bathroom was dirty, i had to put a towel down so I could walk in there, then I noticed that my husbands bed was lower than mine, yes they gave us single beds, not only Lowe but tilting, so I had a look, bare phone cables and a hole in the chipboard floor, why chipboard??? I was glad to get out
Positive experience: Meh
Positive experience: Sue the receptionist was amazing she was very welcoming. The rooms were clean and tidy with a bathroom. The building was old but was clean. However it needs refurbishment.
Negative experience: Not recommended
Fantastic experience: Lovely hotel , excellent service. Would definitely stay her again
Negative experience: There was black mould in the bathroom and bedroom, no nearby plugs to charge your phone. The swimming pool was very cold and the doors were all open to make it worse. Nextdoors dog kept barking and snoring very loudly. The TV was too small to see properly and at a funny angle Lots of banging in the evening and also loud music and couldn't hear the tv I had to escape the gym after me and my partner was locked in for several hours as we left out phone in our room. This left me to being forced to scale a wall after climbing through thorns via a locked exit that still had the key in which the door colpased on my foot hurting my right big toe. The owner the next day (Paul) accused me of criminal damage and attempted to get me to pay for the non existent damage. Breakfast wasn't ready on time on. Thursday 10th after 8a.m was left waiting for half hour to have a coffee. Food staff didn't wear gloves or a hat whilst preparing food in the kitchen and also had dirty finger nails which left me feeling sick. I was served last and feel this was motivated by racial tension with the staff and myself as the person serving kept making Jones about what colour toast I wanted (White or Brown) which was in ear shot of other residence which was very embarrassing and upsetting. My egg clearly wasn't cooked as you can see by the picture We couldn't finish our breakfast after this discovery. Also the reception was unattended after 8am but there was keys left on the desk which I'm assuming contains a master key which has left our valuables at risk of theft
Positive experience: Staff lovely and a beautiful building with gorgeous function rooms. Alas a lot of work needed to bring it up to date (which may explain the budget prices). Be warned - this is a deal breaker for me - instant coffee only at breakfast.
Fantastic experience: I loved this place. We were given room 5 - which was 'MASSIVE'. It was so lovely and breakfast was also good. Considering the price - I think this was a very good place to stay. Everyone was friendly.... they even let us store all of our bikes inside!
Negative experience: This place needs a full clean up. The rooms were filthy with stains and cobwebs. It was too filthy
Positive experience: What a gem of a place Couldn’t find much in Bath on a Saturday night under £250 This was a steal ! Huge gravel free car park, beautiful Manor House , pool and good breakfast £65 ! Rooms and pool area yes I agree with others bit tired and worn but this is a 2* establishment Service however was fabulous, the warmest welcome and most fun check in with Sue No food served in evenings but we were offered a table to be laid in dining room but chose outside table for our takeaway and drinks A chat with the night manager gave us some local history The next day 10 minute car drive into Bath It was Warren like inside but that’s the joy of old properties , lots of original high ceilings , wooden panelling and tiled floors were charming We had 3 rooms on Saturday and would all book here again
Negative experience: Shocking dirtiest place I've ever stayed in. Porter was in pool at 9pm with girlfriend and dog! Fire extinguishers out of date. Hotel manager not interested in feedback. Owner says retired.. Could be so amazing with a bit of TLC Breakfast was great
Positive experience: Very quiet location .lovely building but very odd layout inside. At night the entrance is locked so you enter by the side but it is very difficult to find your way through a warren of rooms to get to the other side for some of bedrooms. Better signage is needed. Plenty of parking. Breakfast was freshly made but the coffee was just instant sachets?? And the hot water rank ran out!!
Positive experience: Very old house, beautiful building but so out dated, all areas need a refurb. The service and greetings were average. The room was fairly clean, the shower was grubby and the light and extractor was not working. No hot water for a shower and other guests were also affected. When mentioned no appoligies were made. The breakfast was fair but the service was between 6.30 and 9am. People on holiday may have been happier with a lie in. The facilities we okay but grubby, bar not open, pool a bit wiffy. Staff asked for a review and to be honest. Ideal area for all trips out.
Negative experience: Nothing like the website ,room dirty, small and beyond basic .The lady running it was ok ,no other staff to be seen .No bar No restaurant the gym was dated the pool smelt funky.I would not go again .
Fantastic experience: Very nice place to stay in a relaxing atmosphere the staff here are so pleasant and are there to help and willing to go above and beyond to help in anyway they can. I spend 90 percent of the year in hotels and by far this is the one if the nicest I've stayed in keep up the good work thankyou for having me
Fantastic experience: The rooms were very tired and need a serious update, and although the shower was clean because of mould and neglect they looked very uninviting. Having said that the staff were so very friendly and helpful and eager to make things right for you. Breakfast was yum too.
Fantastic experience: Nice place free wifi! Access to swimming pool and gym for free too.. beautiful surroundings and 10 mins to lots food places and shops.
Positive experience: Despite other reviews we stayed here and I'm really glad we did. For £60 a night including breakfast I don't think you can go wrong! The staff that greeted us, we spoke to on the phone and that served breakfast are so friendly. You don't really see anyone staff wise otherwise but that didn't really bother us, the room was basic but we were just using it to sleep and wash in while we were visiting bath and cheddar gorge so it did us just fine. Lovely bathroom, lovely big bath! The hotel is dated and could do with a bit of money spent on it to bring it up to date but it's quirky and I liked it! Wouldn't recommend the swimming pool as it's freezing and not really up to my standards of clean... But other than that I throughly enjoyed my stay here and would stay there again.
Positive experience: We loved our stay at Fieldways. It was was good be value with breakfast included. The bed be was clean and comfortable. The bedroom had a, not perfect, but old fashioned charm. The hotel could benefit from updating in areas, but for us, this did not distract us from ever staying there again. The only negative to mention is that we had no wi-fi.
Negative experience: Poor by all accounts. No sauna or spa as they were closed. Nobody on reception unless you push the bell and wait. A small triple room but we asked for a double. Lights in WC not working and entire hotel very disappointing.
Fantastic experience: First experience appears good triple room has comfy beds a nice large shower and big towels situated in an old country house the entrance is a bit difficult to find from the road sat navs take you past it its 5 mins from retail parks so shopping is great
Negative experience: The original building is lovely architecturally. As a hotel I would say 2 star rather than 3. Rooms clean, breakfast was good and it does have a pool. However its very outdated and run on a shoe-string it needs some serious maintenance to some areas. I also found ordering my breakfast and arranging the exact time all the night before strange. I prefer to go to breakfast when I wish in the morning. Adequate for a 1 night stay.
Positive experience: The room I was first shown-14- was simply horrible -2☆, but luckily it was a Sunday night so not full, and the 2nd room-3-, in the old part of the house,.was lovely. En-suite only just adequate though. Fascinating building, gorgeous panelled breakfast room and very good breakfast. But No Bar, no staff overnight - only an emergency contact number ,- no bar, no means of getting any sort of food or drink , not even any drinking water provided anywhere, though there is tea and coffee , milk sachets, and kettles in the rooms. The TV lounge is nice, but in dire need of cleaning. Sadly Unused cellar bar. Lovely outlook onto the grounds with Grand Trees, and there is an attached Leisure centre with gym and swimming pool ,conservatory and courtyard garden, but it all feels quite unkempt, and the jaccuzzi is out of use. A fantastic asset,,the whole place has the feeling of being let run down though which is a shame as it has enormous potential to be a Fabulous 5☆ Establishment with injection of funds and TLC.
Negative experience: Beautiful building but unfortunately is in need of a complete refurbishment No bar No evening meals Rooms very tired Breakfast was lovely though Beds need replacing Carpets have holes in
Fantastic experience: This is a beautiful old building, steeped in history. Well worth it and recommend. Family run and great welcome and service. Lovely breakfast too. Beautiful period craftsmanship everywhere you look. Plenty of character and perfect for one night stop overs to weddings.
Positive experience: Great staff but needs a bit of money spending on it as looks like nothing has been done in the rooms for a long time and the windows so dirty you could hardly see through them.
Negative experience: Lovely building but under staffed, gym is out dated, not much equipment to work with, saunas are not working and no signs anywhere for Wifi password! so overall a disappointed but the swimming pool is good size. Please put signs up for Wi-Fi password that would improve things
Fantastic experience: A beautiful place with interesting history, the ownership has been kept within the family. A very comfortable stay and tasty breakfast. Thank you
Negative experience: excellent breakfast and comfy bed.Did not service room after 1st night, shower dirty, basin stained and tap dripped all night. If you manage to talk to a staff member they do not ring you back or give any part refunds.Fawlty Towers spring to mind.Staff member did not even turn up to open pool,And if you find someone on the reception desk you are extremely lucky. Will definately not recommend.
Fantastic experience: Gym is great for a pump
Fantastic experience: Emergency booking. Communications excellent. Good ,quiet, room for one night, with fresh air from ability to open window( much appreciated on a very hotAugust night). Superb full English breakfast served in delightful old fashioned dining room, with lovely decor, and fascinating book- lined wooden shelves. Extremely kind and helpful staff, who helped me during a fraught time, including with a local knowledge forward booking for next day( as Fairways was booked full). Good value: within walking distance of Trowbridge centre for me . Would stay again.
Negative experience: Oud hotel wat een opknapbeurt nodig heeft. Kamer niet heel fris, waren hier maar één nacht gelukkig. Ik had één ster willen geven maar dankzij Sue de receptioniste twee sterren.
Positive experience: Nice place to stay and lovely staff pool was a decent size, overall I enjoyed it!
Positive experience: Really nice hotel but felt a little bit outdated and the building was not really well taken care off. As a guest however i did feel taken care of with confortable beds good breakfests and a fun swimming pool. Close to bath where there is nice food to be found and you can visit some beautifull buildings and fun shops
Negative experience: Tired hotel in need of a major refurbishment, we arrived to find both the bar and restaurant weren't open which was disappointing seen as it was the night before my wedding and I was staying there with my Best Men and Grooms Men and planned on having a few drinks so we were extremely disappointed
Fantastic experience: Good value for money great location
Negative experience: Shocking service booked a room 2 weeks ago and arrived at hotel only to be told we fully booked we have no rooms don't trust them now
Negative experience: The wall were like paper. Impossible to get a good night sleep you were able to hear every floor board in the hotel. The carpet was absolutely vile and there were cobwebs all over the place clearly hasn't been cleaned for a very long time. The only good thing was the food.
Negative experience: Poor wifi connection. Shower was set at one temperature which was hot. Stayed there for 2 nights. Informed the person at the desk about this. They just said they couldn’t do anything g about it during the night and all other rooms were booked. Said they will inform the site workers and management in the morning but didn’t do this. Very uncomfortable. No wardrobe to hang clothes. I had a couple of suits that I had to hang against the window. No tea bag’s available in room though coffee was. Before leaving I informed the main manager who though apologised didn’t really offer any discount for this particular stay or future stays (I visit Trowbridge every week for 2 days fir work). Thought they might give me an incentive to come back. The only reassurance I was given is ‘we won’t put you in that room again’ I feel that’s pretty poor customer service.
Negative experience: I loved the potential of this hotel. Just needs a refurbishment. Rooms were tired, squeaky floorboards, no proper shower (mixer over bath only). Rabbit warren of rooms. Anyway, when this place is updated & refurbished it will be AMAZING! lovely staff. Great location, 20 minute walk to town. Would return after some tlc.
Positive experience: Nice place to stay, good breakfast!
Positive experience: Dear All I don't usually write reviews, but for once I'd like to say that this place has a lovely character about it and when you start looking more carefully you get to appreciate the original features and the querkyness of the building. Yes there are points where things over time could be updated, but try to look past that and enjoy the old edwardian country house The staff there are lovely and very helpfull. Breakfast was absolutely fabby ...a traditional breakfast lovingly prepared and thought about how to present. The room was nice, quiet and plenty of space. Slept like a log . I can imagine pre covid times that the hotel and spa was a lovely place to visit. Also got to say that the pool is a great size (18metre) which by hotel standards is long . Also large gym for the budding fitness nerds. Me, it had to be the pool in the evenings for a total wind down. I wish Bob ( very dashing young man) and his side kick Sue who is full of bubbly character. I wish all the personnel here all the best for 2022 xx
Positive experience: Use of pool only, seems OK. Changing rooms are a bit dated and cold, need a revamp, but generally workable
Fantastic experience: Started swimming with my daughter and her friend and loved the friendly atmosphere. Sue the receptionist is excellent - very happy, informative and immediately puts you at ease. Definitely would recommend.
Fantastic experience: Great place to stay customer service friendly and very helpful
Fantastic experience: On arriving we was met by the receptionist called sue she really made us feel welcome and couldn't do enough for us took us on a tour of hotel she even came to see us to say good bye really lovely person due to her and the staff we will be staying again very clean rooms Excellent
Fantastic experience: From when we arrived Rachael made us most welcome with assistance & help also Sue & the staff were superb Christine & myself had a wonderful stay the accommodation was lovely setting great all round we will return thank you all
Positive experience: The hotel is a delightful old building, which therefore did have some issues. The rooms are lovely, but most had access up many stairs. Our room had very low water pressure and the hot water was barely luke warm. Breakfast was mediocre. Coffee was good and plenty of it. I did love the decor and beautiful exterior of the building. The staff were helpful and friendly. The gym was well equipped and there is a pool.
Positive experience: Good swimming pool, prices are a bit steep for what it is though
Fantastic experience: Had the best time here. Stayed for a few nights and loved the character of the building and grounds. The staff were most helpful and it was great being able to enjoy a swim each day.
Negative experience: Lovely building lack of communication between staff and receptionist rarely on desk I spent over half a hour trying to find my way to my appointment
Negative experience: Disappointed experience.
Positive experience: It was definitely an interesting overnight visit. I'm not sure how much of what we experienced was due to covid or is long-standing. The building is beautiful and considering it's close to the main road was quiet. Ample off road parking available. We had a family room that came with 3 beds so plenty for a family of 4 (2 double beds and 1 single) and with enough room to still walk around the room. However one of the beds was high off the ground and next to the windows (one of which had been left open prior to our arrival so keep an eye on your little ones). Tea, coffee and biscuits available in the room. Small but functional bathroom although it took forever for hot water to come through. Reception is only manned from 0900-2000 hrs and you are currently required to let the kitchen know what you want for breakfast by 8pm the night before. Breakfast was simple but the staff were friendly and helpful. Bar area is very small and it didn't look like there was much available. We didn't look at the spa or swimming pool so cannot comment on that. It did the job but I don't think we'll return
Positive experience: Staff friendly, the route to the pool is in need of refreshing and the pool is tired looking with showers that need attention. However, it is open and functional.
Fantastic experience: Lovely Hotel. Friendly helpful staff.
Positive experience: The hotel has plenty of character, lovely helpful staff. The rooms were perfectly adequate. It's much nicer staying in a hotel like this rather than a large chain hotel. The only negative was the cold shower
Positive experience: Lovely old building with some original detailing still in place. Breakfast was lovely. Staff are really friendly. Bedroom was spacious and comfy bed . Bathroom was OK, slight small side, with a shower . OK for the one night . Would come back again.
Positive experience: We stayed here to break up the journey back from Cornwall and it was just what we needed. The pool was a great way to start the day and refresh for the second leg of the journey. The lady serving breakfast was super friendly and generous. Would be nice to come back to the beautiful dining rooms for afternoon tea, and to enjoy the small but attractive gardens. Would be a good base to explore Wiltshire as it is close to Caen Hill Locks, Avebury Stone Circle and the stunning viewpoint over the Severn Estuary at Tog Hill.
Positive experience: Great place to stay. Beautiful building and set away from the road. Although the room looks a bit tired the staff were great. The breakfast was really good with plenty to eat. The room sizes are huge, we were impressed. The location is in the middle of plenty of attractions like Stonehenge, Longleat and Bath. Loved it.
Fantastic experience: Lovely place to stay
Fantastic experience: Lovely room and shower! Beds are really comfy! Gym is pretty decent and they have a swimming pool that you have to book due to covid.
Positive experience: Staff are brilliant, cannot do enough for you. Facilities are good, gym, pool etc. Would prefer a full break on a plate and not in a roll. Overall a great, relaxing place.
Fantastic experience: It's ok
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, great food and best night’s sleep I’ve had in ages! Shame I was only there for the night! Tv in the room was a little small but the open living room perfectly catered. 4.95 /5 ;)
Positive experience: Room 14 fantastic for dogs. Been looking for a regular hotel to stay in when i visit my kids and will be returning again.
Negative experience: 1* - Accidently booked 2 rooms for 2 people for the wrong day. I immediately booked the same two rooms for the same price for the day before. It was a stupid accident and I immediately cancelled the accidental booking. Considering we didn't stay in the rooms, I thought that the hotel would refund me that money but the hotel failed to respond to any of my attempts to try and get a refund. It was over a hundred pounds for the booking so as you can imagine I was quite put out. That is why they are getting 1 star. Will not be staying there again.
Fantastic experience: I had a comfortable stay here, yes it is an old building but has character, friendly staff, I felt safe that gym/pool was only open to residents as was the bar so you know who you were mixing with in these crazy times. I had breakfast delivered to my rooms which was a breakfast bap and very tasty.
Fantastic experience: A beautiful building (dated in the 1800s) and lovely staff that made a weekend stay very pleasant.
Fantastic experience: stayed here for a week at the end of September the staff looked after us really well nothing was to much trouble.Rooms were clean and towels were changed daily We were able to order in a take away as there restaurant was closed due to current situation but the staff supplied us the use of plates cutlery and condiments and are family were able to sit at a table so we could eat our meal. The swimming pool and bar were closed but this was due to current problems but we were able to sit in the TV room as a family and enjoy time to chill out after a day of being out and about.
Positive experience: Needs a tidy up but otherwise ok
Negative experience: Used the sauna as regular haunt was out of use today, facilities in general are quite dated (Think Eastern block sanitarium) sauna itself was a bit battered and not hot enough for my liking.
Negative experience: This has been a fantastic building in its time but alas now it is a little tired. Opted to stay here for one night whilst on business. Located just off the main road into Trowbridge with gravel driveway and ample parking. Very friendly reception who checked me in promptly and showed me to my room (the place is like a maze). Room very basic and in need of some attention and the bathroom was worse. Bed was comfortable enough. No evening food service so had to drive into town which wasn’t a problem. Breakfast was cooked freshly and was very nice served by friendly staff. It served my purpose for one night but lacked basic requirements.
Positive experience: Lovely staf
Fantastic experience: Really nice old fashioned hotel. Good food and good staff.
Negative experience: Great staff, but run down place. Not worth the money what you pay for! Badly needs updating.
Fantastic experience: A lovely warm friendly place, the receptionist and night porter went out of their way to help. I can't recommend this place enough!
