Our comment from FitFit UK about Bellingham Leisure & Lifestyle Centre:
Bellingham Leisure & Lifestyle Centre is a vibrant community hub located in London, offering a range of facilities for families and individuals. The centre features a spacious soft play area that is perfect for children, with various levels and slides to keep them entertained. Many parents appreciate the friendly and helpful staff, who help to create a welcoming atmosphere.
Highlights of the centre include:
- Community Services: The staff are praised for being informative about the various community services offered, including a local food bank.
- Gym Facilities: While the gym is noted to be somewhat small and in need of refurbishment, it provides adequate equipment for users at a reasonable price.
- Classes: The fitness classes, particularly Sarah's circuit training, receive positive feedback for being inclusive and enjoyable.
However, some users have raised concerns about cleanliness and staff behavior. Many reviews indicate that the centre requires better maintenance, particularly regarding hygiene in the soft play area and gym. Additionally, there are mentions of inconsistency in staff attitudes and customer service. Despite these issues, the centre remains a popular destination for families.
Overall, Bellingham Leisure & Lifestyle Centre offers a decent range of facilities and activities for children and adults alike, making it a valuable resource for the local community.

Bellingham Leisure & Lifestyle Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Greeted by nice staff, very helpful and informative about the various community services with in the centre on different days, my daughter enjoys the soft play, so now we come weekly. A nice friendly food bank there on fridays, with a range of different food with welcoming staff. A decent gym that isn't overcrowded, friendly gym users and various classes to attend.
Negative experience: Paid for the ticket but no one check and so many children in the softplay, no control ……poor arrangement and also the man staff so rude additional training is needed!
Negative experience: FILTHY AND DUSTY gym it is very small.
Negative experience: Had hoped that this centre would receive a long overdue major refurb when Lewisham stripped Fusion of the contract and gave it to Better. Alas, this was not to be. The centre is stuck in the past with tired old equipment and staff. Shame especially as it's right in the centre of a very deprived council estate whose residents need these facilities more than most.
Fantastic experience: Classes are amazing, really recommend Sarah's circuit class. Accessible to people of all levels too.
Negative experience: Have used the soft play with my daughters for years, and it's previously been a positive experience. Unfortunately, on a recent visit, the staff were extremely rude when explaining a policy on ticketing, taking an unnecessarily antagonistic tone, and resulting in my children being in tears, despite the fact we'd bought an additional ticket. The staff refused to give their names as well, indicating they knew they were in the wrong. We have raised a formal complaint with Better, following the advice of the senior manager. We won't be coming here again.
Fantastic experience: Only popped in for a coffee but alive with small people and looks like plenty to keep 'em busy.
Positive experience: Great soft play. Sessions are one hour, it's a little expensive for a council owned leisure centre, and the booking system is confusing, but it's big, light, airy and lots of fun. Cafe is disappointing and again overpriced. The toilets were dirty, and I could smell them from the seating area.
Fantastic experience: Great Football and Great Boxing Academy
Fantastic experience: I had a lovely experience today at Billingham Centre your member of staff Kieran greeted me with a lovely smile and great customer service he is an absolute asset to your team ❤️
Positive experience: Very extensive area. L ds love it
Negative experience: Has a wide variety of amenities. Gym is so so - not the best equipped but for the price you pay it's ok. Soft play is relatively larger BUT hygiene wise no very good at all. It's covered in dirt. Some kids can get a bit aggressive/ excited and staff don't seem to control them. Cafe on site is good, however one time when I was sitting there waiting to pick my child up, the cafe staff was cleaning up the floor and tables with a broom. They were using the same broom that they used to sweep the floor to sweep the tables where customers put their food on! They didn't even wipe the table. Absolutely disgusting and unhygienic. Football pitch is ok. Gymnastics area is good. Staff very good and friendly. Car park is ok. Can get quiet packed during football season as you would expect. Seems like some of the people who park here don't know how to park their cars. I've seen BMW and Ranger Rovers take up two spaces! I gave this place 2 stars because of lack of cleanliness and hygiene esp when I saw the cafe staff use the same broom to clean the floor and tables in the cafe. Staff are helpful and friendly.
Positive experience: A gyerekeknek egy több szintes játszóhely, csúszdákkal. A felnőttek addig le tudnak ülni. Tetszett a gyerekeknek.
Fantastic experience: My brother comes here guy Samuel
Fantastic experience: I'm recovering from a stroke, so when I was ready (11 months after hospital discharge), I asked my GP to refer me to my local gym. It took a few weeks, but when I was signed up. After my assessment, I just book, go and log in (gym) The trainer showed me what to use and now I have the confidence to use the equipment I have had different people comment on seeing the improvement in my walking. I keep going because I'm getting better, and discover different ways to exercise different muscle groups. The other gym users are from all walks, and are friendly, so that helps The app, takes a little getting used to, but is second nature now I go 2 - 4 times a week and sometimes stop to have a latte in the cafe OTHER FACILITIES: 3G Football Pitch & Grass football pitches Fitness studio - various classes Gym Playzone Softplay (Ages up to 3yrs with a structure for under 8yrs - max height 145cm) Gymnastics Cafe TRANSPORT LINKS: Nearest Bus: 336 A little further away 54, 136, 208, 320 (Catford Bus Garage is nearby which has 47, 171 & 199 terminates there) Train Station: Bellingham (Stairs, no lift!) SHOPS: Co-op, One Stop Shop, Post Office, Velma's (Jamaican Take-away), Hairdresser's, Cafe's, Carpet Shop, Morelys, Chicken Shop Newsagents, Hair Dressers etc Let me have a if you found this review helpful and share with someone who may need it
Positive experience: Decent place to relax while kids are draining their energy
Fantastic experience: My kid and Godchildren love it
Positive experience: Kids enjoyed it...but too many kids were there so it can be over whelming for some kids. I don't recommend a Friday evening.
Positive experience: the overall atmosphere of the soft play area was positive and keeps the kids busy and there variety of levels to the area for the kids to enjoy. However the cleanliness and freshness of the toilet could be improved. The staffs take safety measures eg making sure all kids are wearing socks, The standout features is the big slides where parent can go down with their kids, the climbing structures my child particularly enjoyed. The staff friendly and attentive and was there to enforce safety rules and keep the play area organised. However the phone signal is terrible in there I don’t know if there free WiFi as I didn’t ask. There is cafe local inside that I bought small chocolate bar.
Positive experience: We love the gymnastics for kids but the softplay have a terrible smell
Negative experience: Boiled hotdog and cold chips vibes.
Negative experience: Visited the play zone with my toddler. Facilities are good however, it needs a thorough clean. It’s very dusty especially along the steps and ball pit. Not ideal for young children to be playing in this dirt. Hope management takes action as I’ve read in previous reviews about the cleanliness.
Positive experience: Great for my boys.
Negative experience: Needs updating
Positive experience: Nice place to go
Fantastic experience: Love coming here, the kids have so much fun.
Negative experience: Dirty
Negative experience: I m really sorry but I can’t believe the place is so dirty ! I will never ever go back with my kid there ,unacceptable Attaching pics
Fantastic experience: Amazing and fun play zone for kids
Negative experience: The gym I recently joined seems to have some significant issues with cleanliness and equipment maintenance. During my visit this afternoon, I observed that a considerable portion of the machines, approximately 80%, were not operational. The overall hygiene of the gym is concerning, as visible dirt and dust suggest a lack of regular cleaning. Additionally, the weights appear to be in poor condition, with many being cracked or broken. Another notable concern is the limited availability of workout benches, as there is only one for the entire gym. What's more, the absence of staff at the reception raises security and access control issues. Given these observations, I would advise considering alternative gyms in the area with better facilities and maintenance standards.
Fantastic experience: Great place for every activities and also great football coaches. However, pitches were filled with a lot of bird poos, which can be very annoying
Fantastic experience: Good soft play
Negative experience: Stay far away from this disgusting over-priced gym. I caught a respiratory infection from this place because they never clean, maintain their 2005 gym equipment or any surfaces outside of the toilet. The gym group is 1 mile away and offers much lower membership fees and they clean the place daily. I can't justify paying when the staff are always goofing off with each other and Impossible to find when you actually need help. It's a shame because this would have been a great charity to support.
Fantastic experience: It was great fun for both my 8 year old and my 1 and a half year old, and their 5 year old cousin. They allow your own cold food (no hot food is allowed). There is a cafe where you can buy snacks. Inside there are plenty tables where the parents and the children can sit.
Negative experience: Can't believe I had to pay entrance 70 yrs old with my daughter and her 2year old. We had w muffins 2 teas I cookie and entrance just over £20 rip off.
Positive experience: It is good and nice for kids entertainment..
Positive experience: I use the Gymn at Bellingham leisure. Best thing hardly anyone there and hence no one there to bother you whilst your using the equipment. It's not best equipment but it's adequate for ones needs. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful.
Fantastic experience: Great soft play for younger kids. Once they were familiar with it they happily ran around independently. Great for parents.
Fantastic experience: Great Soft play! Amazing staff! Thanks
Fantastic experience: Lugar incrível para levar seu filho para brinca e conhecer novos amigos. Para todas as idades Sem limite de tempo Apenas 5£
Positive experience: My baby had his party here. It was good!
Positive experience: It stinks of toilets as soon as you walk in the building, even where the children's soft play area is. They have good clubs outside, parking is good. Only downfall is the awful stench when you walk in
Fantastic experience: They have allocated area for younger children which wasn't enough for my 3 year old. She climbed capably with the older kids in the main area and loved it. Clean toilets. Slides. Balls. Ladders. What more do you need. She slept for hours. Highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: Great local soft play. The staff are loving and work really hard to maintain a happy environment. Just noticed on a few occasions some parents literally don't pay any attention to what their kids are doing at all while they play.
Positive experience: Really good soft play centre for children 8 and below. Hourly sessions booked. Wrist band given. Height restrictions. Separate section for under 2's. Lots of activities, ball pit and slides. Big area for parents to sit. Outside area had a mini cafe area serving refreshments, but probs best to take your own water. It can get very hot inside. The toilets are not the greatest, needs constant cleaning what with so many children using it. Also its well staff supervised.
Positive experience: Kid loves it but needs some TLC. Some equipment is ripped and dirty.
Positive experience: Nice softplay with lots of levels, slides, climby things - perfect for the littleuns to explore and burn a bit of energy off. Canteen & toilets outside the softplay serving standard food & drink bits. Lots of car parking out front which you pay for via the Evri app, and a Coop a stones throw over the road - convenient if you need supermarkety bits
Positive experience: Great fun for the children safe standards Good.
Positive experience: The guy behind the counter is friendly / funny the parking cheap the actual soft play is good / fun but some of it could do with a deep clean ball pits feels and looks really grubby and the last time we went my friends child picked up a 2p if she had eaten that it would of been a hospital trip would we go again yes but definitely wouldn't go on a weekend
Positive experience: The soft play area is large and great for kids, albeit it’s getting a bit dated now. The staff in the centre are generally friendly and helpful. Avoid the cafe though. It’s got very little choice, is overpriced and the staff are unhelpful (bordering on hostile) and not overly bright.
Fantastic experience: Great little gem. First time here and kids enjoyed themselves.
Negative experience: Soft play area was absolutely disgusting. The soft balls were clearly filthy and the cushions secured to the ground had a build up of grime under it. Both me and my daughter are sick from visiting here. Not only the soft play being unsanitary. The changing room for the baby is even worse. They have just plonked a baby changing mat right next to a sink. This bathroom was vile. Why not put up a proper baby changing unit within the soft play. Is that so hard. Honestly I will never come back here again. After Covid I would expect the cleanliness to have been a regular schedule in this place. The restaurant also doesn’t offer any hot food. Only snacks. And none suitable for an under 1 year old.
Fantastic experience: My son had a lovely birthday party at Bellingham leisure centre. The staff were amazing and really look after the children and cater for their need. I would like to that the staff for everything.
Positive experience: Overall a good leisure centre
Positive experience: Was decent for the little ones but avoid the food, overpriced and a bit pants. Cheesy chips are chips with a few sprinkles of cheese AFTER they’re out cooked not melted, limited selection of much else. Staff not particularly welcoming and landed myself a £30 parking fine for driving off ten mins late (I agree this isn’t their fault just felt a bit harsh in a children’s place).
Fantastic experience: Little Gem of a place especially for little kids in the soft play area. Best place to tire out the littleones. Staff are great and it's a reasonable price.
Negative experience: Took the children to softplay for the afternoon around lunchtime. Thought we would grab them a sandwich from the cafe like we always used to. Informed by the staff that they are no longer allowed to sell food nor are we allowed to bring a packed lunch for the kids. Will be using Beckenham Spa from now on.
Positive experience: Biggest softplay I've ever taken my daughter to. Inconsistent staff adherence to the few rules that they have, but staff are nice and friendly. Under 2s area could be bigger.
Positive experience: That was my last visit.I moved on to a gym with better and more equipmant
Fantastic experience: Great for little ones
Positive experience: Remek kis hely!
Negative experience: Disgraceful behaviour by staff. When I complained about people parking in disabled bay without blue badge I got shouted at by your staff for ,, touching her car parked in disabled bay,, (she is not disabled) . Did not touch her car nor anyone else car. I don't need to be Disgraceful and disrespectful like her. About 160cm long brown hair in ponytail. Shouting like crazy , threatening me on front of my small child whom is still shaking now already home. This woman should not be working with public. I am a disabled person and because of her and all the other people whom disrespect disabled parking bay I was forced to walk extra. Where is this world coming too.
Positive experience: A much better experience coming out of COVID shutdown. The number of children are now limited, sessions are within 50 minute slots and the age limit has been lowered. These changes make a great difference for the soft play centre to be a better and safer environment.
Positive experience: Very good price, reasonably clean, more than acceptable equipment. Could be cooler, even in winter. Very friendly, kind staff. If Bellingham train station had a lift or ramps maybe more families with buggies would visit the soft play by train
Fantastic experience: Superb staff Reception, the manager, cleaners and fitness instructors are always professional, knowledgeable and friendly They make Bellingham community, not just the gym, a far better place to be a part of
Fantastic experience: The soft play is great for under 8s only, heathy snacks at the cafe. Staff are very welcoming and helpful.
Negative experience: I booked for my son's birthday last year in October. Upon arrival my son's party were told that the centre had accidentally double booked and we couldn't go in. I had to drag my distraught, hysterical 3 year old out. 5 months later, I've still not received my refund and still haven't been offered an apology for the mistake that ruined my son's birthday and upset lots of children. Avoid as they have appalling customer service!
Positive experience: Nice soft play and good size but the cleanliness and control of it was off the mark.
Fantastic experience: Awesome for the kids to shed some energy in a fun, safe, dry environment. Our weekly activity.
Negative experience: Terrible experience at this soft play. Staff insensitive and unkind towards parents and children. Little kids are not allowed to be accompanied by their parents while using the slides which is unsafe as children need direct supervision of their parents. Soft play is old and damaged. Not a pleasant experience.
Fantastic experience: great place
Fantastic experience: Good facilities. Including a Great big soft play apparatus for toddlers to explore.
Positive experience: Kids love it
Positive experience: Why the soft play only accepts children under de age of 9 years?? Most of the soft plays is till 11 years?
Fantastic experience: It's a nice soft play area for children. Very clean environment and the staff are very helpful and organised.
Positive experience: Doors where kept open, I guess for ventilation... Was freezing in waiting area.
Fantastic experience: Lovely place to bring your friends or family
Fantastic experience: Nice and big. Upset parents can't go on the slides ..even when it is empty! I have been 3 times now and it always smells like pee. Looking forward to when the Cafe opens up
Negative experience: Trying to book a soft play session as that's how it has to be done now according to the website but not it will not let me book and I can't call to get advice or book on the phone. The England contact number is saying closed even when calling during opening times kmt, also the online chat is not really a chat but a FAQ page really annoying. Just want to book soft play for the kids like we used too and give them something to do while having fun. Also I'm afraid if we just turn up without booking we'll be turned away so it's a loose loose situation
Positive experience: Nice soft play, we had loads of fun, no cafe though
Fantastic experience: I have an autistic brother and one of the men that works there was so helpful and understanding with him. I’m so happy that some of the staff in there can recognise a child with disabilities and knows how to help. I would definitely recommend taking your children here !
Negative experience: There stuff was very redo not happy full
Fantastic experience: First visit, very impressed by facilities but even more do by the staff. Friendly, helpful and very diligent with respect to cleanliness. Very enjoyable morning.
Fantastic experience: Cool
Negative experience: The Staff are lovely but I'm sorry from when you walk in it smells of pee everywhere the cafeteria area is dirty the tables and seats were nasty the ball pen for the under 3s for the babies oh my word I couldn't believe it the balls are filthy not clean at all first time going and I won't be going back. Thumps down the place needs a serious clean up.
Positive experience: Great encounter with minion Bob
Fantastic experience: Really nice place for family spare time and kids fun
Positive experience: I think the staff in reception are warm and welcoming which is important to me and I feel they are always really helpful so for that is a top score for me But what let's it down is the one personal trainer who thinks he just push people about i get he needs space and has a job to do but he is very rude no manners I do not feel like i can get a full work out as he doubles up on space and clients it provides very little space for people
Negative experience: Convenient place to bring your kids when they want to play but sadly the soft ball area smells of literal poo! Checked all outlets shoes but sure it’s coming from the air conditioners
Positive experience: Toilets need a refurb
Positive experience: Good new gym equipment and friendly staff, though changing rooms need a refurbishment.
Fantastic experience: A great family fun day - with fire eaters stalls, DJs, skating and lovely food we were fortunate to have great weather.
Fantastic experience: Good sports complex
Positive experience: Rascals Soft Play is great for the children!!
Fantastic experience: Wednesday's zumba class 24th April 2019. I had to thank the teacher in person. What a class. 10 out of 10.
Fantastic experience: Good indoor soft play
Fantastic experience: FUN PLACE TO BE
Positive experience: Lots of good resources! However, the gates in reception are SOOOO loud every time they close and heavy and actually quite dangerous for children.
Fantastic experience: Come and join us in the Bellingham Leisure Centre classes Zumba classes and different classes is good I make you fit and healthy
Negative experience: Need to have supervisor staff or cameras. My daughter nearly lost her tooth by older boys belonging to staff who work there. You have given them too much freedom, She is only 2yrs old being bullied by staff's children. There needs to be more control and rules in place to protect all children not letting older kids stopping younger children coming down the slide Shame really as the venue has potential.
