Our comment from FitFit UK about BH Live Active, Pyramids:
BH Live Active, Pyramids, located in Southsea, United Kingdom, is a sports and leisure facility that offers a variety of amenities for fitness enthusiasts and families alike. With recently refurbished gym space and a spacious, well-lit area, many users have praised it for being a great environment to work out or engage in fun activities. The friendly and helpful staff contribute to a welcoming atmosphere, enhancing the overall experience for visitors.
However, some reviews highlight areas for improvement. Users mentioned that while the gym offers decent facilities, certain equipment can be limited, such as the number of squat racks and specific machines. The sauna and steam room have received mixed feedback regarding cleanliness and availability, and there have been occasional reports of customer service issues, particularly concerning membership cancellations. Additionally, the pricing structure and value for money have been points of contention for some members.

BH Live Active, Pyramids: Opinions
Positive experience: facilities are okay but that's about it. It's quite outdated now, gym is small and with not a lot of real good equipment - there's only one squat rack, only one space for deadlifts... not really good for younger generation of gymmers. sauna is small, overall is an okay place but not very good value for money.
Hi Sandy Thank you for your feedback. Please could you clarify which centre this is for? Pyramids currently has 2 squat racks and recently refurbished 3 years ago. If you could clarify I and send me your contact details [email protected] we can pass on to the relevant team for someone to contact you.
Negative experience: Honestly don't go there. Gym wise it's ok, but staff wise it's horrible. We been lie too multiple times saying different dates for the end of our membership, then said that we need to show that we are moving (this case to another country) so the manager and a personal trainer inform us that the trip tickets will be enough as we are moving back to our parents property We send proof that our subscription it's supposed to end on 31st December and they are saying 31st of January. Honestly the worst experience in my life with gym membership Also trying to reclaim by my bank but their team especially Shanon is the rudest person I ever talk to and she shouldn't been delying with costumer service Also they refuse to give me head office or HR number/email to complain. My advice: not worth the headache, go to another gyms for the same price
Hi Raquel Thank you for your feedback, one of our team will be in contact shortly.
Positive experience: Not a bad gym but not great. I wish they had Pilates classes earlier in the evening. Gets congested at times, they could do with extra machines because young men hog the popular ones (3 or 4 hogging one machine for their entire visit). Lots of gym users also don’t wipe their sweat off machines either so you end up cleaning up after people!! Staff are never to be seen. Dangerous when equipment malfunctions and throws you off!!
Positive experience: Nicely located Leisure facility, well staffed and superb gym space
Thank you for your positive feedback, really pleased you are enjoying the facilities
Fantastic experience: Great facilities and lovely spacious, well-lit gym. It’s a big change from the Gym Group and PureGym and worth the price in my opinion! The staff are excellent as well. Alex and Pierre are both amazing people.
Hi thanks you for your great review about our team and facilities. We glad you enjoy coming to Pyramids. I will pass this feedback to Pierre and Alex. See you again soon
Fantastic experience: Today in sport club BH Live has offer, for family member 1st month free membership, of course nice personel make your day better even if you pay full price :)
Positive experience: Nice gym! I liked the functional area, but I was a bit disappointed in only 90 minutes of free parking and the gym has no windows or any views. Anyway, I had a good workout. Nice staff.
Thank you for the message and feedback, pleased you enjoyed the gym and had a good experience
Fantastic experience: Great equipment, haven't tried the classes but I see a lot going on; nice quiet atmosphere with helpful staff, especially when I passed out due to epilepsy.
Hi Harry, Thank you for the positive feedback glad your enjoying the facilities. Hope your feeling better and we look forward to seeing you soon
Fantastic experience: Excellent playground for children and adults, if you let the "child" out!
Fantastic experience: Good location, Extremely Clean Place/Equipment, marvellous supporting and happy staff my personal favourite is Alex! She just brightens up my day every time we talk and she is exceptionally helpful and positive! Highly recommend this gym!
Thank you so much for the positive feedback, we are thrilled that you enjoy the facilities and staff alike. We will pass this onto the team and Alex
Fantastic experience: Lovely and calm environment having polite staff but only need spa in pyramids.
Negative experience: Looked on here and see all the reviews for the pool... after over an hours driving turns out pool closed 5 years ago. I can't be the only one... POOL IS CLOSED!!!
Fantastic experience: Have been a member here for a few years now. Wonderful staff, clean, spacious and well equipped. Always a great atmosphere; feels really comfortable and inclusive. Such a great environment makes it easy to be consistent (you'll look forward to visiting) Customer service also great when contacting about membership. Of the many gyms I've been to, this has been the best by far. Amazing value for money too. Highly recommend!
Hi Sofia, thank you for your fantastic review! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoy our gym and find it comfortable and inclusive. We look forward to seeing you again soon
Fantastic experience: Just wanted to share how enjoyable the Les Mills body jam class is by Marci on a weds morning. Crazy cardio with lots of impromptu singing and laughing! A great crowd! A bit like a girls night out without the Margheritas! Thanks Marci!
Thank you for the fantastic feedback, we will ensure this is passed onto Marci!
Fantastic experience: Love it. Wide and varied choice of classes Staff are friendly but professional Highly recommend
Thank you so much for your positive feedback Tina, really glad your enjoying the facilities and getting the most out of your membership.
Negative experience: Will be prepared that you will need to die to stop before your membership! No flexibility, no understanding that person can relocate (or even change the decision or change the gym) and it’s totally uncomfortable to join. When I said that I had moved and could no longer go to the gym, they began to threaten me with court if I stopped paying! Read all rules before, otherwise you will pay for nothing after! Rude behaviour of managers who even didn’t describe properly rules before joining. The worst gym I ever join. Don’t recommend!
Fantastic experience: I really enjoy this gym. I started a few months ago to lose weight and also combat depression. It has a gym, spinning room, HIIT room, activity rooms and loads of classes. I attend classes whenever I can. The teachers are great, the staff are really helpful. I've lost weight and feel better in myself. So glad it's here.
Thank you Matt for your positive and happy feedback, we really do appreciate it so glad you are enjoying the facilities we offer but more importantly you are feeling good and enjoying journey! Shirley
Positive experience: Love the pool! The gym is okay and the spa is nice but never on when in the morning when it’s meant to. Changing rooms are normally dirty. Have decided to leave and try somewhere else.
Positive experience: Overall a nice new gym. Nice staff and very clean. Missing a few bits of equipment in my opinion. 1. Needs wide cable machine. They have 2 of a new kind of cable machine which works well for some movements but is hardly used by people. 2. Smith machine 3. Calf press, seated or standing. 4. Assisted pull up (for the weaker individuals) me. Understand they are limited on space but there is huge dead space throughout left hand side of gym just for lockers and seating. Again, great gym, but could be better.
Negative experience: The gym is fine and relatively quiet at the time I go but they could really do with a Smith Machine!
Negative experience: Facilities are great no doubt. But in my experience the staff are not helping. I cancelled my membership 6 months ago but it wasn't cancelled. Again I cancelled but the staff says it takes time to cancel. If you become a member you never cancel your membership. Somehow they will take money months after months..
Fantastic experience: Glasshouse is a beautiful setting for exercise classes; especially on a sunny day. Loads of classes to choose from. I highly recommend taking a class led by Marci; her infectious personality will have you smiling within minutes. Be sure to put your car reg in to the system at very the start of your session to ensure the 90mins free parking actually goes through.
Hi Lily Thank you for your great review and glad you enjoy visiting the pyramids and our group exercise classes. We will also pass on your positive feedback to Marci. See you again soon
Fantastic experience: New technogym equipment. Could do with slightly more free weights with barbells and plates. And would love it if they had the sauna here rather than the other location. But good for the price.
Negative experience: has to be the worse customer service in portsmouth, guess thats the level of education needed to work here, and who designed this website ? head and wobble to the ceo.....if you begin to make sense of the website that will change when you arrive, its a disaster always has been, ive lived here 27 years..... will they ever get it right.
Positive experience: Classes are good and most staff really good. Centre is run down and needs a revamp. Equipment is old but still a good variety.
Negative experience: Really awful pool or sauna very bad definitely stay away. Even if you buy a 1 month subscription, they force you to pay for 2 months. When you want to cancel, you should have informed 1 month before in your contract, they say pay 1 more month. Too bad. Stay away.
Fantastic experience: Always good fun for the little ones. This particular Sunday I found that the bar was understaffed and we had to clear the table ourselves. But other than that all good.
Fantastic experience: An overdue return to the Pyramids...its been a while. Unrecognisable improvements. Glass house gym looks amazing, joined Spin in the new studio, excellent sound-visuals-lighting, new bike, great instructor,
Fantastic experience: It’s so convenient as it’s just round the corner from me. The gym is so much better now: not too packed with machines it’s just enough equipment (all you need really) modern looking, clean & friendly staff also. Will be my go-to from now on
Fantastic experience: What a fantastic place this is. Clean in all areas, including the toilets which are in the studios. The Manager, sales team, Gym Staff and the Instructors are all so welcoming and friendly. Non judgemental place to train, I highly recommend the Tai Chi with Cristian and Yin yoga. Personal Training with Dawn is brilliant, challenging but brilliant. GREAT TEAM, GREAT PLACE LEADING TO A GREAT LIFE.
Negative experience: Took out a 1 month contract. The advisor to get extra commission has put down a 12 month contract. I've cancelled my direct debit and now have an external company chasing me for money, this has affected my credit score. Stay away with all costs
Negative experience: Since the new gym opened it is inundated with teenagers crowding around, not using equipment correctly and groups of them hogging machines. I ended up cancelling my membership because it was unnerving going for a workout with all the machines being surrounded and being stared at as you're doing your workout.
Positive experience: Been here before a and the kids love it, just disappointed that today (Sunday) they have reduced staff so no trampolining only 1 hour instead of the normal 2 and no kitchen. Plus despite only half the time with reduced facilities it's still 3/4 of the normal price. Seems to be designed to rip you off!
Fantastic experience: I'm giving the "gym" at the pyramids a five star rating because I've had the most wonderful experiences since I started there nearly 2 weeks ago..my wife and children swim at mountbatten so we have a family membership but I've always trained in my home gym so i went along to see, what fantastic staff! Ally, Shirley, Dan, Everyone so sincere!
Fantastic experience: Love it here got the deal where you pay for 1 hour and have 2. My grandson is 13 mths and a hectic toddler and after an 1hr 20 mins it beat him... Slides little bumble to ride along punching bags, air cannons ramps, slides the list is endless and if your hands on be prepared to have fun.. There is a cafe but I would recommend taking your own water the drinks can really eat into your wallet. There is seating area and a place to park your buggy.. Due to my grandson still mastering walking down slopes we purchase socks with grips on but if your child is 2 and above you will need to buy them on your first visit... The staff are very nice and you only pay for the child so fantastic way of getting family off the seatee and getting evolved
Positive experience: Great play area which is huge and lots to do. The play area is really clean. Nice cafe area. My only issue is session times which appears to be an ongoing feedback ... In the week there needs to be 2hour toddler sessions, an hour is not long enough for my toddler especially when you stop for a snack it doesn't justify the drive or wear him out enough so wouldn't revisit until this is available (all day not just the 4pm session) which is too late. I don't know any softplay centres locally that are only an hour long it makes this place uncompetitive.
Negative experience: £24 for a family of four to swim for only an hour is ridiculous. No extra time for changing! Will be looking elsewhere and won't be returning
Fantastic experience: Great fun for kids of all ages great for families great staff very helpful and Costa coffee on site children's soft play area well worth a visit great place to entertain children of all ages very clean changing rooms and not to expensive
Fantastic experience: My girlfriend referred me to this gym as she was a member for a couple of months. The sales time were outstanding and very empathic thru the whole process. They explained me everything and answer to all my questions regarding the membership etc. I didn't ask their names but it was a guy in suit which i assume it was the manager and a blond girl. Both they were outstanding and helpful. Hope this review will be seen by the management and please praise them for me. They are doing an awesome job ! Keep it up ☺️
Positive experience: Some state of the art machinery down here if you can learn best way of using it then worth a visit and see. One machine I was inpressed with was the pulley machine which had an automatic mode. Some heavyweight lifting stuff and some additional leg machines that I haven't seen anywhere else.
Fantastic experience: Nice gym! It's been renovated recently and it's kept in good order/maintenance. I particularly enjoy the new Technogym equipments and connected experience - particularly helpful to self-manage my workouts and even get some inspiration for new exercises. I can't speak for the classes since they typically don't fit my availability but otherwise the opening hours are really convenient.
Fantastic experience: This morning I came to the gym with my husband on a guest pass we saw several staff with regard to membership for himself and I have to say the woman on the desk was particularly fantastic she was extremely empathetic and supportive even whilst I became overwhelmed due to anxiety. She showed me around and was so supportive offering future support should I need it . I really felt like she understood and cared . Both my husband and I look forward to becoming regulars and feel so grateful for the welcome we received . Thank you so much I only wish in all the emotion I could of remembered your name . I hope this review is seen by management you deserve recognition.
Negative experience: SHOCKING customer service. Not a member of the gym but was walking past and asked whether I could use the toilet, I am pregnant and that was very obvious, the “pretty” boy at the reception said I cannot use it because it is for members only. Fair play, but it would have been nice if exception was made, obviously I was not going to use the opportunity to jump on the treadmill while there, and just fyi for him - when pregnant lady needs a toilet - it’s not the same when a normal person needs a toilet, 5min has a whole different meaning.
Positive experience: Nice place. The kids enjoyed it greatly. The kitchen and what's on offer is letting it down. So much more could be offered especially for a parient waiting 2 hours while the kids play (like chips or burgers etc).. Missed opportunity's there
Positive experience: Exploria @ The Pyramids - Great play area recently opened so all clean and new. 2 hour session. But only 1 hour in the main big bounce part. Then the kids have to go to the juniour area age 5 -12 just mostly slides and a bit of climbing. Food in cafe terribly bland. Burger was awful.
Fantastic experience: Our grandson went to a party here. We were told they could use the playzones, but he was later asked to get out of the trampoline area, which upset him a great deal. We were told they could only use the junior play area as his armband was not the right one for he trampoline area. Other than that, it was OK.
Positive experience: Very friendly staff happy to help in anyway gym is pretty good not really the kinda thing we needed on the coast but as a long time gym goer I might use it to keep healthy if on holiday down there . But as a long time gym goer I know that the equipment is cheap rubbish . Nice that the bells got to 50kg that would be warm up for all the hear heads so not the best for them . This is a medium gym level I'd say nor for advanced gym goers . I loved the glass room at the top and sure could see my self doing tai chi or yoga ♂️ meditation up there .
Fantastic experience: Alot quieter tonight than our first visit, son loved it this time, being able to go between both sections n ot so noisy
Fantastic experience: I used to work there when it was a water park and multiple nightclubs. The atmosphere was electric on a Friday and Saturday. Now there's a play complex that is incredible. You have to pay a visit. Kids and Adults will have a great time
Fantastic experience: Great place for the kids to run riot and enjoy themselves! Reasonably priced and good facilities, free lockers too. Cafe has plenty of options, I didn't eat so can't give any insights. Strongly recommend going for a session, it's definitely worth booking ahead to avoid disappointment too.
Positive experience: Really good however the fact that children are not allowed in all sections unless they pay to play and jump is silly but what is awful is that they are only allowed into the jump part( half of the place) for only half the session. Apparently this rule is all over their website (which I did not see)but on the invoice it clearly states 2 hours jump and play. Also I have special needs children who just do not understand why they were not allowed back in.
Positive experience: Children of all ages are fully engaged. Plenty of places to sit to keep an eye on them although you will never see them. Socks are £2 extra.
Fantastic experience: Perfect two hours. Nachos nice and good service. Even got a free coffee off Frankenstein!
Negative experience: The only reason I go here is for Bex's classes which are great and the convenient location with an amazing view. Nothing appears to have changed in several years in terms of looking after members. We'll see what the gym renovation brings...
Positive experience: Great soft play for the kids although I really think the should restrict the age of the kids in the toddler area. Some 6 &7 year olds were going crazy and knocking babies over
Fantastic experience: All my children grandchildren and Foster Child love it great fun lots to do
Positive experience: Much changed with pool removed; big play area, but the trampolines were closed when we visited (not advertised so quite a surprise when we got there).
Fantastic experience: Used to be the swimming pools. now a massive soft play area .different zones for different ages of children, bit pricy ,keep the socks for next visit !.grandson loved it
Fantastic experience: My 18 month son can't walk yet but he was loving climbing and crawling everywhere. What a great place it's turned into. The staff were helpful and friendly too. We will definitely be returning. .
Positive experience: Great to see the space being used in such away, its fantastically laid out and there is so much to do. Would happily give it 5 stars if the time slots wer longer than an hour. It's not enough time at all to explore everything and I ended up taking home two very upset children. And we didn't pay for bounce too! I had thought maybe it was due to Covid and needing time between sessions to clean but my son left his water bottle so I had to go back in and the next session had started so clearly no clean down happening. I woupd rather go to another soft play that's half the price for twice the time in future.
Fantastic experience: Wow what a brilliant soft play centre for my 2.5 year old. The slides were great. Trampolines and all sorts. Just so much fun. Nice and clean cafe and toilets. All very clean. He loved it. The best soft play we have ever been to.
Fantastic experience: Took the grandchildren here as they have converted to a soft play area. The grandkids enjoyed it so hence the score.
Positive experience: We went to Exploria at the Pyramids, which was lots of fun for the kids, shame the session isn't a little longer for the price. Café was well run and service prompt. The centre's focused more for very young children, but my 11-13 yr olds still enjoyed themselves.
Positive experience: We went to a great rock concert - Tremonti - in hot weather. They would not open doors for ventilation and the beer was warm - it should never be! That's poor hospitality management. The music was great, but I was feeling unwell and had to leave early. Swimming facilities were good.
Fantastic experience: I love the pool before lockdown my special needs daughter and I were going to it often, don't lose the pool! Revamp it, put the 2.5 million into the facilities and watch it grow. A lot of kids like her love the water sensory, waves, it is very therapeutic.....There is no where like it near by.
Fantastic experience: Honestly can’t really fault this place! Used to go several time’s a week as a young child! Used to get there early stay the entire day and for a swimming pool. The cafe is honestly amazing! I would love to go back for a swim soon!
Positive experience: Kids enjoyed themselves with the waves and the slides, but... One of the pools, the lowest, wasn't open for some reason, although the snake slide next to it was. Other parts of the place looked run down, with worrying looking rust patches quite noticeable. Some of the water sprays weren't working either. Yet the worst part of the visit was the staff turning us out of the water and making us stand by the waters edge for five minutes or so. Eventually one of them started making an announcement that was near inaudible - apparently there was no chlorine in the pool! Therefore everybody trapsed off to the changing rooms to get dressed; not enough room for the 100 or so to get to the showers, the lockers, etc. People appeared to take up residency in the family rooms so my young daughter and I stood for what felt like forever, waiting in a cold, breezy corridor. We are in a state of undress and the place is freezing! Not the best visit.
Positive experience: I hadn't visited since literally the 1980s when the Pyramids first opened so it was amazing to go back after all this time. In fact it was like going back to the 1980s in a time machine, even Billie Jean was playing. The flumes are good, not too fast, not too slow and they are enclosed, the wave machine was good when it did come on. The showers were warm and worked, there were a few missing tiles here and there and some rusty patches here and there but I understand it's hard to keep on top of all the time, with all that water everywhere. It's not a place for serious swimming, more a fun place for parents and i'd say 11 year olds and under.
Positive experience: Great place for fun family swimming, good wave machine and slides, although the slides and changing rooms need to be refurbished. Having said that, we will still visit the pool.
Negative experience: MY Son had the worse time! I took him there saying he would have a great time. Everything run down and dirty! The slidrd leaking water needs repair repair badly will be gettong in touch with the council
Negative experience: I've been to a few gigs here before but last nights Reel Big Fish concert may be my last. The cue for both bars were absolutely ridiculous due to being severely understaffed (as admitted by your bar staff). Waiting 45 minutes for a drink after having a sealed bottle of water thrown away at the entrance, is utterly ridiculous. Then having only two people man the coat check at the end of the night was just insane considering you were sold out.
Positive experience: The toddler pool is just right for our little girl, the showers are also nice and warm. Although the changing rooms could be cleaned more regularly! A little on the expensive side for their wet and wacky sessions.
Negative experience: We went here recently hoping it would have improved from last year. Still not all the slides were operating, changing / locker rooms need upgrading and the toilets/shower area stink! The far end pool was closed The only good thing about this place is the wave machine. Such a shame for southsea when the rest of the seafront is well looked after.
Negative experience: Changing rooms/toilets/shower are usually dirty. Numbers allowed into the pool are frequently capped due to lack of lifeguards. Swimming lessons here are a waste of money and there is an appalling lack of communication. Complaints are not dealt with fairly or promptly. Such a shame - this could be an excellent pool.
Positive experience: Its a lovely pool for your kids to go to. There are lots of slides and a function that happens around every 20 minuets were it simulates waves in the pool. It’s a pity that one of the slides was out of use though. In total i would recommend this for some fun time in the pool for the kids !
Hey Hannah, we’re so glad your children enjoyed the pool and slides – thank you for your recommendation and we hope to see you again soon.
Negative experience: If it would be possible to leave 0 stars it would of been that No notice on arrival that Pools closed and slides out of order Someone had gone to the toilet in the pool and staff just scooped it out not clearing the pool whilst young children are playing close by Absolutely discussing customer service will not be going back
Hey Amanda, we're glad you've spoken with Chris directly in regards to your review. Thank you.
Negative experience: I wanted to find out if this was still a fun place with flumes and a wave machine... I tried their website but there's is not a single photo of the pool facilities here. Just details about the gym and fitness classes. Dayoutwiththekids describes this place as a water park suitable for all ages. I was trying to find out if this was still the facility I thought it was and if it was suitable to bring my 2 year old to. So I drove an hour to Southsea to see for myself. From what I could see through the entrance it looked the same as it did when I was a kid... So I asked the lady and man on the desk about the water park and they looked at me as if I was insane or had said something offensive. After an awkward silence, they told me there was no water park here, "just pools and slides". ? I seriously don't know what the difference is. I was so embarrassed by this pendantry at the front desk, and still no clear answer to my questions, I think I will take my son to Romsey Rapids instead.
Hey Emma, we’re really sorry to read about your experience and will look into this further to see how we can improve. Pyramids Centre is a fun pool, suitable for all ages as we have a main beach pool, and baby pools too. There are kids’ slides, a wave machine as well as flumes for the older children which open during our Wet & Wacky times. During term-time, we also run Adult and Toddler sessions with music and waves. We will look into your comments about website pictures and the Daysoutwiththekids listing online to get it updated. We hope to see you back at the centre soon.
Positive experience: Good gym with a really good choice to support most workout styles, super friendly staff that are happy to help out. It's not the most hygienic place, the changing rooms are pretty grubby but you can see they have tried to wipe them down at some point that week BUT the sauna and steam room smell of urine and don't look like they have been cleaned in years!
Hey Toby, it’s great to hear your enjoy your workouts and the staff are helpful. We do carry out regular deep cleans and spot checks, however if anything isn’t quite right next time you visit, please come and have a chat with us so we can sort it out quickly.
Positive experience: Good for a trip with the kids it's more of a fun pool then a actual swimming pool so wouldn't recommend if you actually want to swim. You can't use the free swim cards for the kids regardless of what session is on and I think they only have flumes and waves on at certain times so if your going for that best to phone and check (the snake one is hardly ever open) they also sometimes put a lane in the wave pool for lessons which as it's a small pool you can feel like you just paid for a dip in a paddling pool
Thank you for your review Adrian and we are glad you visited. Our flumes and waves are open during our Wet & Wacky sessions. If you’re looking for a swim, we do have alternative pools available for lane swimming at other sites such as Eastney, Charter and Mountbatten. We hope to welcome you back again soon.
Negative experience: My fiance and I came here as we believe it was going to be a wedding fair as per advertisements, to us this meant meeting a few suppliers, talking to people about prospective services for our wedding as we've done many times before in Portsmouth, unfortunately this was not the case! This was not a wedding fair, this was a pyramids wedding display. We walked in and it was empty, decor was hideous, you cannot stop smelling the chlorine from the pool area. Overall very dissappinted, we felt bad to walk out as we were literally the only ones there, they asked us to try some food which was soo bland and tasteless! We were very dissappinted
Good afternoon Midia, thank you for taking time to leave your review although we are really sorry you were disappointed with the event. As advertised, the showcase was an opportunity for customers to see the room dressed and try our new wedding menu – We are really sorry it wasn’t what you anticipated and you didn't enjoy yourselves. Your comments will be shared with the team to see where improvements can be made for next time and if you’d like to discuss your visit further, please get in touch with us directly.
Positive experience: I have been coming here since i was a teenager and now take my own kids. Its changed A LOT over the years but its still somewhere i love going. It's quite cheap not too busy, the staff are always nice and friendly (not kidding, my LO will talk to everyone and trust me not everyone is kind) They keep the changing rooms clean and the place is lovely and warm. And last reason i go The waves, the waves the waves.. lol
Hey Jenny, thank you for your super review and comments about the facilities, pricing, cleanliness and staff. We’re glad to hear you still enjoy the waves and look forward to welcoming you all back again soon.
Negative experience: Usually a good time but didn't even get through as they for some reason don't update there website on swimming times for kids my daughter was very upset as the information online was wrong admin needs a stepup
We’re glad to hear you usually enjoy visiting the centre although sorry to read your comment about the online timetable. We have recently launched a live pool timetable which should improve things. https://www.bhliveactive.org.uk/swim-timetable/ Thank you.
Positive experience: We went to Portsmouth for the day. Very disappointed with The Pyramids pool. Website info about the fun session was incorrect. 2 of the 4 slides not available. Ladies changing room was poorly designed and the whole place looked like it needed some TLC. We will not return to this pool.
We’re really sorry to read about your disappointment and will review your comment to see if the website can be improved.
Fantastic experience: Great fun for the whole family I have a lot of great childhood memories coming here with my brother and Dad. We always had fun, and there's so many helpful staff members. Also enjoy the events this venue runs, I have been here when Ric Flair was doing a UK tour, very well run and a nice location.
Hey Dean – thanks for your recent review. We’re glad to hear you enjoy your visits and have lots of great childhood memories too. Don’t forget to keep an eye on bhlivetickets.co.uk for upcoming shows. Thank you.
Negative experience: Soft play area could be fun for toddlers but unbeatably hot as air-conditioning not working. This must be a health and safety issue
Thanks for your post although sorry to hear you were hot in the soft play area. The air conditioning is being repaired and if you would like to discuss your recent visit, please get in touch with our Senior Customer Operations Manager: [email protected]
Negative experience: We waited in a queue for 40 minutes and when we got to the counter were told we could have 7 minutes in the pool. No alternative, no explanation of how it all worked. Really? 7 minutes? At one point there were 4 people behind the counter and only one serving paying customers. Her primary function appeared to be loudly telling kids off for accidentally touching the barrier.
Hey Dalene, we’re sorry to read about your recent experience. If you would like to discuss your visit further, please get in touch with our Senior Customer Operations Manager: [email protected]. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Great place to swim, sea infront, rock garden next to it. Stranded starfish can be found on the rocky beach in front of the pyramids.
Thanks for your 5* review! We look forward to seeing you at Pyramids again soon.
Positive experience: It hasn't been revamped since the 90s and is in dire need of it. The kids still love it, but the whole place just feels old and dirty. Oh and it took 20 mins to get a coffee because the barista was nowhere to be seen and had to be called to get hold of him.
Hey Ryan, thanks for your feedback about your recent visit. We’re glad that the children enjoy themselves but sorry that other things could have been better. We are currently working with the council on ways to improve the centre and will share your comments with the team to look into further. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic - accessible to pushchairs and wheelchairs with great swimming classes and acts. By the sea - even in a cold weather you can swim inside and breathe sea air outside. Southsea is as close to perfect as any city I had ever been in.
Hey Leszek, thanks for your 5* review about the centre, facilities, entertainment and location. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Negative experience: I can only speak in terms of the Gym and Spa area. Generally the gym is fine: clean, good equipment, and the staff are friendly. However, there are regular Sauna and Steam Room breakdowns in the Spa area that take an age to fix: last year the Steam Room was out of action for about 3 months! The Sauna is currently out of action and has been for about 2 weeks with no sign of it being fixed. When I enquired how long it may be unavailable the staff had no idea and mentioned it being unavailable due to maintenance - when questioned they didn't really know what the issue was. It's not a staff issue; it's a management issue. Shame because other than the unable to fix things in a timely fashion, it's not a bad place.
Fantastic experience: I joined a couple of months ago and for £26 per month its brilliant. I can go to all the classes and find the instructor's very professional. I think the cleanliness of the place not good and don't like the ladies communal changing room.
Hey June, thank you for your great comments about the classes and instructors although we are sorry to read your other comments. Your feedback will be shared with the team.
Fantastic experience: Great value for money, the whole family enjoyed it. The Staff are amazing! I phoned before we left to check all was open, the young lady was so polite and helpful and honestly, every member of staff was a pleasure to talk to. Will definitely be visiting more often.
Hey Justin, thank you for your recent review and great comments about value for money and our staff. We will share your super comments with the team and look forward to seeing you again next time.
Negative experience: Paid for the session with the floats and inflatables but they only put out a small amount and tell you that you have to wait until they come available. (Even though there are more in a seperate pool, but you can't use them as we asked, one lifeguard said yes and gave our child one for another lifeguard to come over and take it off him and say he can't have it. Which for a very young child this was unacceptable being aloud it then having it taken away!) Very poor attitude from staff, reception staff talking about there life's etc while your trying to pay for your visit, we did not wish to hear about there problems/life's while paying with our child!. And paiding the extra for no reason because you dont get to use the floats or inflatables due to adults holding them while there kids went on the slides as they didn't want to lose them and have to wait again!. Not enough family cubicles (for a family place) and very unhygienic the cubicles smelt of piss!!! Floors looked horrible, dirty water etc we were completely disappointed with our visit to the pyramids, has gone down hill massively.
We’re really sorry to hear about your recent visit and would like to have a chat so we can find out more. Please can you drop our Senior Customer Operations Manager an email with your contact details and we will get in touch. He can be reached at [email protected]. Thank you.
Negative experience: The place is so run down and doesn't look like the changing areas are cleaned very often - dirty nappy bins overflowing, bit of rubbish on the floor. The pool itself is ok, although because we went when the slides weren't open, the actual pool area is pretty small. On the website it said it would be a 'wet and wacky' session until 5.45. However, we got there at 5.20 and none of the slides were open. On a positive the water temperature is nice warm and the showers are hot. All in all though, I won't be going back
Hey Yvette, we’re really sorry to read about your recent experience at the centre and will be looking in to your comments about cleanliness. We are looking at ways to improve the centre, so hope you will return in future to see improvements. Thank you.
Positive experience: Pretty Active Swimming Place With a Nice Cafe But The Slides Can Be Closed For a Lot Of The Time.
We’re glad you enjoyed your visit and Terrace Café. Thank you for your review.
Positive experience: My little girl has swimming lessons here and she loves them, I would like to join the gym as I used to use the gym here, also I would like to join slimming world for my wedding. I won't because of the parking, over the year it would be double the price, as it already costs 3 pounds 20 a week jusy for swimming lessons. :(
Hey Sam, we’re happy to hear your little one enjoys swimming lessons but are sorry about your other feedback. Please come and have a chat with us next time you are in.
Positive experience: Went for Gin Festival. Venue looked great and there was a brilliant atmosphere, strong smell of chlorine didn't bother me as it reminded me of visiting the pools as a kid. Toilets could do with some updating.
Hey Hollie, we're glad to hear you enjoyed your visit and thank you for your feedback. We'll share your feedback with the team to see where improvements can be made. Thank you.
Positive experience: Took the kids swimming at half term. Went for the first session of the day, when we left the queue was really long and out of the door. Very popular! Facilities need improving, changing rooms and toilets poor. Not all the flumes were working. Good value for money though 6 of us for around £15.
Hello Christina, thank you for your review. We’re glad you found it good value for money but sorry that we didn’t quite hit the mark in all areas. Your comments will be shared with the team to see where improvements can be made. Thank you.
Positive experience: The busy-ness is only an illusion to why its actually busy, for the swimming the staff are only aloud to release 20 tickets at one time. Didn't ask how long, but it was over a 15 minute wait to get tickets, then another small wait to gain entry, not including the wait for the que. We opted for soft play instead, only to our surprise and disappointment, the pool wasn't even half full...
We’re sorry you didn’t enjoy your recent visit. We would like to discuss further, please can you get in touch with our Senior Customer Operations Manager directly: [email protected]. Thank you.
Negative experience: Very disappointing, disorganised and made to wait with young children as they had ran out of the wristbands your handed to show you have paid. Waited 30 minutes to get in when I was there for opening time, only to finially get in to realise my son, whilst getting changed accidentally placed his jumper in a puddle of sick... yet we were some of the first in so must have been sat there overnight. Clearly not cleaned.... The flumes.... only one working as always then I realise the snake slide was open only to be told it’s only open due to a party, yet the past several times I have been there it’s still remained closed. What’s the point in having the slide! Such a shame it’s the only place for fun/swim in Portsmouth.
Hello William, I’m sorry we didn’t hit the mark during your recent visit. Please can you get in touch with me directly to discuss further: [email protected]. Thank you.
