Bannatyne Health Club And Spa: Opinions
Positive experience: Really nice place, very big and did get lost a couple of times and had to ask for directions lol me and my daughter went with a wowcher voucher for her 19th birthday for 3 treatments and to use the facilities, the people there are really nice, friendly and helpful. It was fairly quiet which is good, we didn't use the gym (which did look great, the pool was nice, great jacuzzi and the sauna and steam rooms where fab. too. The treatments where amazing! Really enjoyed them (it was our first time aswell) lovely ladies and the aftercare was an added bonus too, and there's a lovely calm room (can't remember what they called it) with soothing music, water beds, blankets, and sparkley lights in the dark very relaxing after the treatments. We really enjoyed our day there and would return ( can be abit pricey but ok with vouchers, deals and for special occasions)
Hello Shaana, we appreciate your positive review about your visit to Bannatyne Health Club & Spa - Brindley Place, thank you. We strive to provide excellent facilities and service so we really appreciate your kind words Kind regards
Positive experience: I recently visited this place with my husband for a spa day, and while the massage was great, we were disappointed with several aspects of the service. We had booked our appointment online for 5 PM, but when we arrived, the receptionist claimed our appointment was at 4:45. We showed him the confirmation email, but instead of resolving the issue, he directed us to wait downstairs without following up or offering any assistance. We had to explain the situation again to the staff, which felt unprofessional. Additionally, the amenities left much to be desired. The swimming pool was cold, and the jacuzzi water was only lukewarm, which was disappointing given the spa setting. The steam rooms being separated also wasn’t ideal for a couple’s visit, as it made it less enjoyable for us to spend time together. Overall, while the massage itself was relaxing, the service and facilities did not meet our expectations, and we left feeling less than satisfied.
Hello Ellie, thank you for your review, please email us at [email protected] so we can investigate your experience further.
Negative experience: Poor , 1980s vibes , rude manager , everyone complaining , however not many options for health centres with a pool in town centre
Hello Alex Lapadat, we are sorry to learn your experience at our Bannatyne Health Club & Spa - Brindley Place was not a positive one.
Negative experience: £47.99 for off peak membership from 9/4:30 during the week. Ridiculous pricing. Commit to a 12 month contract and receive 2 guest passes. Wow!!!
Hi Mark, Thank you for your feedback. We believe our price represents good value. No other health club in the area has all the facilities we do and the price is in line with other providers of similar size. Kind regards
Positive experience: For spa user only - every thing is between a gym and spa. The treatment itself is ok maybe worth 4 ⭐but the facilities is not. Pool is cold shower room is cold everywhere is cold warm and cosy. Spa pool always full with 5 guys talking really loud, someone even go there with stocks. guy's Sona room full of guys while lady's side always empty. Most awful things is the shower stops every 10 seconds, it completely not work after active few times, so I need to wash hair on the sink.
Hi Rose, Thank you for your feedback. The pool temperature has been increased as this was affected by the cold weather and we have increased the temperature around the building in general. We will be sure to keep a closer eye on the usage of the jacuzzi. The showers are set to last for approximately 30 seconds. This is a water saving initiative. Regards
Negative experience: I went and asked them to do the In body test. They said that we have to get one day pass £25 :'). I was disappointed. From outside, it looks good gym(building, equipment) in a very nice place in Birmingham beside the canal. I didn't do the In body but I discovered that area!!
Hello Oula, thank you for your feedback. We appreciate it!
Negative experience: Terrible service received and lack of customer service. The O.P.I gel nails I had done on Christmas eve looked bumpy in places and was lifting off my one of my natural nails by the following day. After 3 unanswered emails and a phone call, I dont expect any resolution. The spa manager James did my nails. He is clearly not a fully qualified nail tech and is unprofessional as he had dirty nails. If it wasn't non refundable, I would've walked out once I saw the state of his nails.
Hello Naomi, thank you for your review, please email us at [email protected] so we can investigate your experience further.
Negative experience: Extremely disappointed with today’s spa service. I paid £85 for a pair of massages with my boyfriend and left with a sub par massage. The full body scrub and massage was supposed to be 60 minutes long, however it lasted 45 minutes, with a delayed start time & early finish. It felt as though my masseuse was stalling my treatment time by sending me into the main sport club to shower off when there was a shower in the massage room. My partner was not made to walk into the sport club for a shower down and received a full 60 minute service. Very disappointing since this was our anniversary day out.
Hello Amy, we are disappointed to receive your feedback. In order for us to understand and address any concerns you may have, please contact us at [email protected], thank you.
Negative experience: Some of the machines are not in good condition, the are instructors interrupting to offer their services all the time for extra money, the classes usually are crowded and according to the manager is work or the members to make the instructor to follow the attendance list. I don't like it, the service got worse and the price went up. But according to the manager those are not reasons to cancel my contract. I am not renewing
Hello Gaby, thank you for your recent review and we are disappointed to learn of your experience at our Bannatyne Health Club & Spa - Brindley Place.
Negative experience: Terrible, over charged on robes that were too small. Massage was the worst iv ever had.
Hello Kim, we are sorry to learn your experience at our Bannatyne Health Club & Spa - Brindley Place was not a positive one.
Positive experience: Place needs a revamp. The pool area was rammed when we attended. The ladies who delivered our treatments were 5 star. The dressing gowns were small and well used. Towels rubbish, the place just needs some money spending on it.
Thank you for your review, we will continue to try and improve the service we offer, Jodi Blake.
Negative experience: I am now writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with my recent experience at your club. The customer service has been extremely poor, and I feel that as a paying member, my concerns were not taken seriously. Firstly, I requested to freeze my membership for a month while I was on holiday, but this request was denied. Upon my return, I attempted to renew my membership, only to find that a payment had already been deducted. When I went to the reception to resolve the issue, I was not allowed to enter the gym, as I was told I had an outstanding balance. Despite showing proof of payment, I was met with hostility from one of your reception staff, who raised their voice and shouted at me in front of other members. This behavior was unacceptable and left me feeling disrespected. The overall experience at Bannatyne has been extremely disappointing, and I am now requesting to cancel my membership due to the aggressive and unprofessional conduct I encountered. I work in the hospitality industry, and I believe in the importance of valuing and respecting customers. It is clear that your staff could benefit from training in customer service. Could you please provide me with the email address of the General Manager so I can share my experience directly with them? Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Yukta
Hi Yukta, We are sorry to hear of your experience. We can confirm this has been escalated to the general manager and he will be in touch with to come to a resolution. Kind regards
Negative experience: My husband bought me a treat voucher for me and my friend, was very cold, we had a lovely facial and back massage. We didnt have the full hour, we also had to wait 10 minutes before the massage as they were running late. Obviously my husband paid for the whole hour Unfortunately the room was dirty along the skirtings and where we placed our towels. During the massage people kept coming in. In the waiting area the tables were very dirty with a sign on a table saying things about clean tables which made us laugh.
Thank you for your review, we will continue to try and improve the service we offer, Jodi Blake.
Fantastic experience: I really don’t know why people are scoring this place so low, the therapists were amazing alongside with all staff. Thank you for our experience today!
We strive to provide excellent facilities and service so we really appreciate your kind words, Jodi Blake.
Negative experience: Do not give your details, they will rob you and will tell you that it was part of the deal, they have made me pay 2 times in not even 3 week, I first paid £35 22/10/2024 then they took money on the 1st of November £52,, but when I spoke to the guy to first sigh the contract, he said £35 up until the 22november the the Payne after January will increase to 60 something £, But when I phoned them to ask why I was charged again, no there was registration fee, all lies. The place is ok clean but basic service.
We are sorry we did not meet your expectations on this occasion as we work hard to provide the best service we can, Jodi Blake.
Negative experience: Very unhappy, cancelling my membership and definitely don’t recommend it, others friends are cancelling it too
Hello Thomas, we are disappointed to receive your feedback. In order for us to understand and address any concerns you may have, please contact us at [email protected], thank you.
Fantastic experience: Just had a wonderful massage with Kam, as a therapist myself I’m really fussy but it was perfect pressure and identified the areas of tension. I feel so much better. Also did my eyebrows and again really happy with the result.
Hello! We are so pleased to learn you enjoyed your experience at our Bannatyne Health Club & Spa - Brindley Place.
Positive experience: Well I have been to a numerous amount of spa days and a few Bannatyne but got to say this is far from one of the best. Its very dated needs a refurbishment and a good deep clean. Talk about cold...and not just the pool and jacuzzi but the whole place was freezing cold. How can you relax when it's too cold!! Still think charging for robe n towel is a bit of a put me off visiting again! One good point was the wristband for the lockers..Great idea! Treatment was lovely.
Hello Kerry, we are sorry that your experience did not match your expectations in all areas. We have taken you feedback on board and we will look to make improvements. Many thanks
Fantastic experience: After being a member at the Sutton Coldfield gym for many years I was very pleased with my decision to move to Brindley Place. The gym space layout and available equipment are so much better. It's also lovely to see the beauty of the canal and passing geese and ducks whilst enjoying some cardio .. I haven't attended any classes yet but bannatynes always deliver and only employ good instructors. The pool is lovely, I appreciate the more cosy ambiance with warmer lighting. I don't use the jacuzzi as its too small and always full of men. The steam and sauna being in the changing area is perfect for me also. Very nice gym, staff are friendly and it is always clean too
Hello P D, we are so pleased to learn you enjoyed your experience at our Bannatyne Health Club & Spa - Brindley Place. If you need any further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us, Jodi Blake.
Negative experience: After booking this for me and mum (following her finding out a recent cancer discovery) wasn't to impressed with the fact they took us in separate rooms, for me to recieve my treatment, meanwhile totally unaware, that after they took my mum through to her room for them to tell her she was unable to have anything done. Instead she was made to sit around until I came out to find her in tears. This information should of been told to the both of us, I never would of left my mum to sit around and would of happily left and took her for a day out else where. It was clear we came together and this could of been communicated to me/both of us multiple times. The lack of thought, compassion or communication was ridiculous but quite frankly, disgusting.
Hello Eve, thank you for your review, I am sorry to hear about your experience. Please email us at [email protected] so we can investigate your experience further. Regards Jodi Balke General Manager
Negative experience: The staff are incredibly unprofessional, the spa is dirty and smells, I would avoid this place.
Hello Alexandra, we are sorry that your experience did not match your expectations at our Bannatyne Health Club & Spa - Brindley Place, should you wish to discuss in further detail please email [email protected].
Fantastic experience: Excellent spa day and treatments. Service was perfect. Just needs a bigger jacuzzi.
Hello Sheivon Dacosta, thank you for your review rating of our Bannatyne Health Club & Spa - Brindley Place We really appreciate your feedback, thank you, Jodi Blake.
Negative experience: Over priced gym with no air conditioning Fans dotted around are a trip hazard Better gyms around for the money
Hi Penny, Thank you for your feedback. The new air con system has now been installed with more investment on the way. Kind regards Jodi
Negative experience: Spa treatment was booked for today, I arrived 20 mins before treatment time, was kept waiting in the lobby, had to go upstairs to complain, rude and unapologetic staff, treatment started late by 15 mins yet she finished on time meaning I only received 45 mins instead of 1 full hour. Returned home more stressed than I actually was in the morning. Don't recommend and won't be visiting again.
We appreciate your honest review. We set a high standard for ourselves, so we are disappointed to hear that your experience with us was not a positive one, Jodi Blake, General Manager, Bannatyne Health Club & Spa - Brindley Place.
Positive experience: Great health club, glad I joined. Love the facilities and the choice of classes. I wish the water was warmer in the pool it’s so cold. Also the jacuzzi is full of men that sit there for long periods of time you don’t get a look in! Thank god women’s facilities are separate to the guys. Had a Swedish massage special August half price deal. Very disappointed - it didn’t start till 4.25 even though it was booked at 4.15 and then it was finished dead on 5.15. I had 50 minutes not 60! I didn’t feel the therapist used enough pressure during the massage, even though I requested it. She replied it was a light to medium pressure only ? Surely she could have applied more pressure
We hope you continue to enjoy our facilities moving forward and if you require any assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us, Jodi Blake.
Negative experience: Not the spa experience I was hoping for! I had a Buyagift voucher to use, so I opted for a spa treatment package that included two massages and a facial at this club. In hindsight, I wish I had just received cash instead. Pros: The wristband system for locker access was a clever and convenient touch. Cons: The changing rooms are seriously outdated. I noticed multiple flies in both the shower and changing areas, which made the whole place feel neglected. Everything needs a significant upgrade or, at the very least, a deep clean. It felt like stepping back in time. The flooring in the changing rooms was so old and unappealing that I was reluctant to shower or even put my feet on the ground. Charging for robes, slippers, and towels felt like a cash grab—especially since this was supposed to be a relaxing experience. The spa lacked inclusivity. It was uncomfortable having people walking through while I was in a swimsuit. The massages were late running and were disappointingly short and too gentle. The so-called relaxation room was awkwardly located in an isolated area. The entire layout of the spa needs rethinking. It’s a confusing maze, and the various spa facilities should be closer together. I left feeling not only disappointed but also slightly under the weather, as if I had picked up a cold—definitely not the birthday gift I was hoping for. I won’t be returning unless the place gets a serious renovation. Even my gym from ten years ago was in better shape than this!
Dear Kiran, we appreciate your feedback and would like the opportunity to understand your concerns. Please contact us when you have a chance at [email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your review, we will continue to try and improve the service we offer, Jodi Blake.
Negative experience: Very poor experience. Due to situations outside of my control (a car crash on a major road which caused major delays) they refused to honour my booking or even give me a refund. Shooed me away and just gave me an email to complain to. So they have taken my money and got on with their day. Do not recommend.
Hello Rochelle B, we are sorry to learn your experience at our Bannatyne Health Club & Spa - Brindley Place was not a positive one.
Negative experience: Sitting in the “spa lobby” while writing this. Sorry to say this is an awful experience. Changed my massage because I’m a man and she couldn’t touch a man. No one had told me where any of the felicities are. Staff are rude and unapproachable. Acting like I’m taking up their time. The lockers do not work well and are not safe. Locker rooms are dirty . Nothing is comfortable, sad sad experience
All feedback, whether it be positive or negative allows us to improve as a business, thank you, Jodi Blake.
Positive experience: This gym is great for people who would like a quieter gym, it’s not busy during the day and mostly busy in the evenings. There are not many assisted machines, and could have better investments in this area of the gym. The track is great, and so are the weights, cardio area. The body extension machine is placed in the middle of a busy area and can easily result in an injury if someone walks by unnoticed on a busy day. The pool and jacuzzi are nice, the changing rooms are okay (curtains for changing look a bit cheap), the showers need to be cleaned more or replacement for new doors and shelfs within, the steam and sauna area (directly outside shower) also needs some touch ups in terms of cleanliness and aesthetics. Overall it’s okay. Not the best but not the worst. Parking is a nightmare, by the way.
Hello Aamnah, thank you for taking the time to send a review about your visit to Bannatyne Health Club & Spa - Brindley Place.
Negative experience: Went here for a treat with my girlfriend. The massage was very good despite the masseuse not being very talkative but I have to say the rest of the spa was a let down. The pool is small and crowded and the chlorine is way too strong. Other customers were spitting and throwing up into the showers which was off putting and I just found the overall experience not very relaxing. The hire costs for the robes etc is pricey and the staff tried to get us to buy some over priced moisturiser at the end.
Negative experience: Attended on the 27th March with my young sister for a birthday treat. We booked Via a email due to a voucher code not working and the times for treatments. We stated that one of us ( myself ) had a c-section in January and that I would like the back massage and facial. Once we arrived and I filled out the pre treatment form. I stated that I had a c-section back in Jan. Once we was taken through we was asked who had it I said me and they said they wouldn't be able to have this done due blood clots ( we are now in march) I told them I took all injections after my c-section and I had the all clear from my Midwife and GP. But they still couldn't go ahead with the treatment. ( this left me rather upset ) We was in a duel room and my therapist left to go grab something, the lady doing my sisters treatment said I should of brought a letter saying I was all clear ( How am I meant to know they would want this ). I ended up having a hour long facial, the treatment room was cold, we was never asked if we was warm enough. You offer pregnancy massages after 12 weeks. But I can't have one 2 mon the after my baby was born. The male and female changing room were swapped over and the males were ladies were getting changed smelt. The Hot tube/Jacuzzi was cold a member who was also in there said it was cold and that the place is going down hill. All in all I had a really disappointing Visit
Negative experience: Not sure if people are stealing the chorded strap handles, but there is never a set of 2, just those useless solid plastic handles. Keep your gym stocked with suitable equipment!
Fantastic experience: I have fallen pysycally iĺl so as soon as dr sheena danda makes me better i will return to the gym i will be exercising and listening to eminem my father passed away this year Jennifer Lopez i usually attended heartlands hospital Birmingham for emergency treatment only i am going to be famous snoopdog zia does black magic zen shop told me my gp has given me top medication for gas and bloated stomach as soon as my stomach gets better i will return
Hello Joseph, we are so pleased to learn you enjoyed your experience at our Bannatyne Health Club & Spa - Brindley Place.
Fantastic experience: Went for a spa day, and i enjoyed every second, good service and ambience friendly staff and good facilities
Fantastic experience: Had such a wonderful day here was so relaxing, I had a treatment by a lovely man names James he was so professional, welcoming and informative, I felt at ease in his presence and relaxed, highly recommend. Thanks again for a lovely day!
Positive experience: Pool very busy and noisy with aqua fit lesson so did not enjoy the pool, but massages were brilliant ❤️
Fantastic experience: Went with my daughter on Sunday, we both had a swedish back massage which was amazing. I also had the swedish leg massage (also fab) and my daughter had a facial which she enjoyed. Will definitely be going back again in the future. Nice and easy to get to and a really lovely relaxing place.
Negative experience: Total disappointment !!! worst experience that you can have, definitely want to try if you want to quit all sport and leisure exercises. The gym doesn't have enough equipment ready for everyone to use, because it's broken or not cared of for weeks. The water fountains will remain broken for days too but the worst is with the cleaning and hygiene standards: worms in the sauna Infections and itchy skin from anything you touch in there and when you want to cancel(because of their fault and standards) they still want extra money even if they won't respect their service. Totally dissatisfied and disappointed
Fantastic experience: I have recently joined Bannatyne, it has been an amazing experience so far. Everyone is really friendly, my PT Marina is awesome!!!!
Positive experience: We booked a spa experience which was fairly affordable for most people. Honestly the spa facilities could be better as the steam rooms are tiny and gender specific & the one jacuzzi can comfortably fit about 5 people. The treatment rooms are nice & the gym looks of good quality. If your looking for a half decent spa afternoon or morning this is a good option.
Positive experience: Overall a relaxing experience. What’s important to remember is that this is the Bannatyne gym facilities so not a luxury spa. Massage was great and staff were lovely.
Positive experience: Lovely staff and good equipment in the gym. Quite small and is looking tired ...needs a bit of updating (in particular the changing rooms).
Fantastic experience: I had the pleasure of meeting Leona last Saturday and I must say, it was an incredible experience. Her energy and vibes were so positive and uplifting. Leona truly has a special talent for providing a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. I highly recommend her to anyone in need of a fantastic massage at Bannatyne Brindley Place. Thank you, Leona, for an unforgettable session!
Negative experience: Not very clean, facilities are a little bit limited, not much to do. The massage was ok, and I felt quite nice afterwards. The overall customer service is very poor.
Fantastic experience: Had a spa day for 2 and what a lovely relaxing experience it was. The facilities were great and the staff really professional can't wait to come back again.
Fantastic experience: Loved my spa day... so quiet and relaxing. I had a full body massage. It was the perfect day. I used the sauna and steamroom and the pool wasn't deep so anyone could swim in it. We had drinks and they gave complimentary robes and slippers. It was very clean and the service was really good, especially the girl at the front desk, extremely helpful
Negative experience: I booked a day spa today for the first time since my baby was born, needless today I was looking forward to it… after 20 mins spent to book a day pass online providing way too many details for a spa ticket, I got refused at the door because I did not carry my passport. In 2024 where do you need to carry a passport to go to a spa??? I was not offered a refund, nothing at all, just sent home, it is absolutely shocking. I had a scan of my passport on my phone, and even this was refused… very disappointing experience.
Positive experience: Shahina was absolutely amazing!e and my friend came for my birthday, and we had a scalp, foot, and back massage. Shahina made sure I was comfortable, checked in with me throughout the treatments, and was super friendly. My back felt a lot better afterwards too - thank you so much!! As a side note for the actual spa, I think the interior is a little dated and the swimming pool area is a bit ran down.
Fantastic experience: This used to be my gym for 4 years and I have also been getting treatments from the SPA, mainly waxing. The person I usually go with and recommend is Lauren! She's great and always attentive to details!
Negative experience: Water beds were nice in the relaxation room but was only for of them the rest of beds in there are not very comfortable. Jacuzzi stings your eyes there must be alot of chemicals in the very over powering. Swimming pool was cold , and also used by other people not on a spa day Stream rooms and saunas are separate men and women so on spa day carnt enjoy that activity together. Parking is very expensive next door no discount offed for being a customer of the spa/health club. Massage went very fast was ment to last 25 minutes and was only given 18 Also people on there phones when it's ment to be no phones allowed in pool area Over all felt more like a gym and local swimming baths then spa. With parking and hire for towels, flip flops and robe price dose all add up quickly Overall very disappointed
Fantastic experience: Visited here on a Saturday morning for myself and my fiancé to have a spa day. We both had the Swedish back massage to begin with before going to the pool area, the staff were all so sweet to us and we had such a lovely time. Thank you to the staff there! Will always recommend of course! Especially if you’re looking for something relaxing. Could not help myself from buying some of the Elemis products they had in stock!
Fantastic experience: Fantastic lovely destressing day drained me the only thing is I don't think you should have to pay for the bag with robe unless you're keeping it
Positive experience: Not enough chorded machines, one js currently still broken. BRING HEADPHONES they play ads in the gym, if you don’t to hear about Wrigleys Chewing gum half way through a set then bring your headphones. Money grabbers can’t even afford to just pay for music for the gym.
Positive experience: Myself and my mum decided to come along to use our wowcher offer. Pros - joint treatment rooms, was quiet Cons Parking - have to pay and its expensive when your there for the spa day No food choices in the club not like other spa places Hard to actually find the place when you don't know it. We found it by chance.
Positive experience: It was a good spa day experince with 3 mini treatments each. Id say it is quite basic and the hire cost for robe and slippers isn't really worth it, we had different robes and mined was particularly short. The pool was nice to use and jacuzzi and relaxation room was ok. Complimentary water or herbal teas after treatment would not go a miss. The treatments were nice but could have been better.
Fantastic experience: Been a member before and go for a day to myself. Perfect spa when you just want a day of relaxing on your own, not really one you can go to as a couple. Had a massage by pasha I think her name was , best ever. Will be booking the massage again.
Negative experience: Worst Spa experience! I took my wife as a birthday treat for a spa day at your club on Monday (06/11/2023) and I can tell you neither of us was happy with our experience. As it was more for my wife, we were disappointed when we first got there and was told the female steam room was out of order, which I can understand isn’t your fault but in normal circumstances like this as guests look forward to the spa’s facilities you would think the spa would try to over compensate with either no charge for towel and gown hire or an upgrade to our treatments etc.? I wouldn’t brag too much about the spa treatment itself, firstly it was meant to be a 55 minute treatment which started at 14:15 and ended at 14:59 which is not 55 minutes. I’ve never had a body scrub before, but if I knew it was just exfoliation rubbed onto my body and then made to walk out half naked across the pool area to wash it off I would not have got it done, Me and my wife agreed our back and leg massages was also terrible. Then to top it off as we left the spa area, I decided to go into the steam room (as mine was working!) and sauna and then was told to leave because they had to clean it? Other members were also unhappy so I’m sure you have had some complaints that day. Overall neither of us felt relaxed that day and more disappointingly as it was for my wife’s birthday, I am going to have to book another spa day somewhere else which she will be happy with. I even emailed them twice about this and no one still has come back to me. I booked another spa day cheaper at the belfry and was 10 times better, don't waste your money at this place.
Negative experience: Only gym in the city centre not to ring me back. For full 12 month membership up front and 15 pt sessions enquiry. I suppose they don't need the money.
Positive experience: Not the best gym, but they good Do with better PT trainers , staff need to welcome every guest ! And the awful Noise in the steam room!!! Is annoying fix it!
Positive experience: I expected a lot more from this fitness club everything was outdated. The interior was quite boring. The floors and walls were quite dirty and old the showers sauna and steam room are quite small and quite dirty as well. Comparing this to a gym like David Lloyd, I think David Lloyd is 100 times better and well looked after. I received a back massage which was decent. However I was booked in for a 40 minute treatment but it wasn’t actually 40 minutes as I had to wait 15 minutes in room. Overall it’s a nice place but nothing too fancy I would prefer to go somewhere else.
Negative experience: Absolutely worst experience ive ever had treated my friend for the 40th birthday was really disappointing staff rude back and facial treatment was diabolical beauty school drop outs I will be taking this further with trading standards you cannot keep ripping people off supposed to be a relaxing day I was fuming no people skills at all
Negative experience: Outdated facilities. Steam room wasn’t working and sauna was so small you could barely fit 4 people into it. The steam/sauna is shared so as you can imagine, it can get quite uncomfortable due to its size. There is one jacuzzi near the pool which was always full and water looked murky. I tried finding this relaxation room which was difficult to locate to begin with. Upon entering, it was freezing cold and far from relaxing. Floors are very dirty and cleaners seem to be cleaning for the sake of it. Staff had a very displeasing attitude. £25 entry to a ‘spa’ + various other miscellaneous costs only to leave in less than one hour. Please take your money elsewhere.
Positive experience: Used a Red letter day voucher and was treated to a wonderful spa day at Bannatyne’s. Having never been to a spa before this was a really warm and welcoming place to come, friendly staff, well organised with great facilities.
Negative experience: Was Ok, didn't like the lay out, after treatment, instead of being in relaxation room you are in an reception area with giant windows for the veiwing public. Relaxation area the other side of the building, pool small. Wasnt very relaxed at all
Positive experience: Joined yesterday for me and my son as it’s the closest gym with a pool. Have to pay £15 per month for a child is abit ridiculous. For the £62 per month the facilities are very dated. Could do with a full refurb. There’s missing doors in the changing room. And it’s a maze getting around. Also I think the separate steam and sauna rooms are annoying as I’d like to go there with my partner. The staff were really helpful. Although it’s dated it’s a nice gym.
Positive experience: Went for a lovely spa day, with good massages. It was a nightmare booking it though as we had a voucher and they weren't very helpful. Once we had our treatments we wanted to go into the relaxation room but they had locked it without telling us. This was a shame we couldn't get a little time in there to relax after massage, instead we had to sit by the pool. Even if we had just 20/30 mins in there it would have been nice.
Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming here for a few years now for massages and the use of the facilities. Yesterday I had a massage done by Samantha who was so lovely, she made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. I booked this massage due to stress causing pain in my back, shoulders and neck. She’s sorted me right out. I’d definitely recommend her! :)
Negative experience: I visited today with my friend at 10:45 to get access to the spa drive half an hour but unfortunately the guy on the reception asked us for ID which we never been asked on the previous days that we came here . We are paying for the day access also my friend got his ID but I’ve forgotten mine and told the guy I have it on my phone if he needs to approve but he was rude and refuse to let us in . Very disappointed and messed up all our day . we’ve called a day before no body mentioned that we have to bring ID when we go there .
Fantastic experience: From the minute we arrived to the end was absolutely fantastic. The staff was very welcoming. Showed us around. We had a shoulder back and neck massage and facials. AMAZING. jacuzzi, steam room and sauna was lovely. Changing rooms was quite big and very clean. Good lockers. You pay £10 deposit if you want flip flops gown and towel. U get to keep the bag and flip-flops when you return the rest. The lady's that done our massages and facials was lovely and friendly. We will come back again but with longer treatments. Rooms was very comfortable. Thank you so much. Heather and tish
Negative experience: I've been a member for 4 years now, and I was using Solihull us,my main club. Last year, I started using City Centre Bannatyne...I and up getting banned because I was using my phone US the said ... 99% of the humans in the club use their phone without giving a fack about your rools, and I have never seen any of the workers say anything!! Facilities dirty!! Half of this year water was cold. I got home 2 twice and I was sick!!! I've done 3 times shower with cold water because there was not hot water, staff shows no respect at all.Aaaaaaa And the Best for the end manager threting me in front of the steaming room and speaking to me like I'm a facking homeless !! Place needs new staff that know how to respect the customers and not manager coming down to me and asking me if I have a facking phone inside my bag !! IF I COULD GIVE LES STARTS, I WILL HAVE DONE IT. Avoid the place at any cost!!!!
Positive experience: First time visiting the spa - it was a gift for the day including treatments. First impressions of the reception was a bit of a let down, the member of staff that welcomed us although polite had an attitude. There's nothing more off putting than when something is forced. Also, although there is a small charge for the towel robe with a refund on the deposit, I found it odd, this should just be included in the overall package. The therapists and actual massage was absolutely lovely, could not fault them. Very professional, welcoming and polite. It was a very relaxing treatment. Loved the relaxation room, especially the water beds. Found the music weird - would have been more relaxing with sounds of nature. The pool was really nice, there could be more of a staff presence though, as one family thought it fine to hog the Jacuzzi for an hour! kids were a bit noisy too. Shame didn't get to use the Jacuzzi, but enjoyed the sauna. Over all experience was very nice, would definitely go back. If reception was more attentive, they would have got a five star.
Negative experience: Massage was actually the worst I had, she didn’t even make any effort it felt like she was just massaging for the sake of it. I was actually very disappointed. They didn’t seem bothered at all.
Negative experience: For the £75 per month you would expect it to be cleaner. Mirrors are filthy, changing rooms are dirty and staff are not friendly At Birmingham City centre gym. I never see any clearers cleaning, Sort it out!
Fantastic experience: Great price, really polite and helpful staff. Massage was absolutely lovely. Thank you. Definitely will be returning.
Fantastic experience: I was skeptical about booking a spa day after reading the negative reviews. But from my experience, I had a very relaxing day here and I would recommend it to others. The robe, towel, sandals and locker was included in the package (£10 deposit is returned upon exit). The pool, jacuzzi, relaxation room and sauna were small but suited us well. A big thank you to Evelyn who gave fantastic Elemis facials and back massages to me and my mum! Amazing!
Fantastic experience: I was gifted a spa day voucher for two. Myself and my Mum loved the whole experience. My massage treatments were completed by Zena and my Mums treatments were completed by Emily S. We both felt that this was the best massage treatments we’ve ever had. We felt so relaxed afterwards. The massage therapists were also very friendly. Thank you! X
Positive experience: No snack facilities on sight and drinks machine was down when we visited so we couldn't have anything while there had to go to the shop next door half way through our visit, too much chlorine in the jacuzzi we had to get out as it stung our eyes and changing rooms needed a good clean would not visit again
Positive experience: Yeh nah.... the use of the word Spa I would personally say only really equate to the facts there is a salon downstairs yes you can walk about in a house coat and some flip-flops but you also have to do this surrounded by random people going to the gym. The communal seating area also used for waiting for the spa treatments is a run through for the changing rooms it fails a bit weird having office workers going for their afternoon workout staring at you in a pair of swimming shorts and a house coat. The staff were great don't get me wrong but the Venue itself was very dated damaged pipes on showers tiles falling off things numerous repairs that look like they were temporary when they were done but have stayed the test of time it just feels a bit disjointed so to call it a spa day he's a bit of a stretch you can't use your phone by the pool which I understand but then what's the point in relaxing by the pool if you can't use your phone that goes for tablets Kindles and anything else you might want to read. Like I say though the stuff were very helpful and attentive and my massage and body scrub was acceptable. I'm a plumber by trade so obviously I picked fault at all of the plumbing the showers were in pretty poor condition with regards to operation but very clean nonetheless my wife who had a massage in another room was escorted back to the communal changing rooms to have a shower after her full body scrub so she could then return to the spa to finish her massage not super thrilled by this experience
Positive experience: Massage was ok but usually the masseuses ask how firm you want your massages. I like my massages firm and my partner likes soft. I got a very soft massage though that left me wanting more and my partner got extremely firm, at one point he was going to ask her to stop. If we do go back, I will tell them what firmness we like beforehand. Also the music in the relaxation room with the water beds was too loud and not very relaxing.
Positive experience: This was a lovely place and staff were friendly. On Saturdays they allow children in the pool so it can be a little noisier than your normal spa. Treatments were amazing.
Positive experience: We had a spa day with massages. Entrance reception. We managed to get the last two miniature prosecco's. However we had to drink them out of plastic cups. Paid £18 each for a bag with a towel, slippers, robe and a locker key. But you get £10 each back when you return the bag. Spa reception. When you get inside you don't get a tour you kinda just get told that way to changing rooms and to come out to reception in time for your massage and then you kinda look around for where everything is. Changing rooms. Decent, clean and there's a hairdryer you can use for free. Little sections where you can do your makeup and hair. Bring your own hair straightener. There are even little sections you can get changed in if you dont feel comfortable getting dressed in front of people. Swimming pool. I loved the pool I like how they have a slow lane and fast lane and that it's all one level depth 1.2 m. Nice lil chill out spot. Jacuzzi Is on a timer so you get your time and then it goes off. You have to wait 5 10 minutes and then it comes back on. Nice relaxing spot. Relaxation Room Nice place for just relaxing and the water beds are really nice. Only negative the chatty girls not allowing you to just relax. But didn't mind too much as we all enjoy in different ways. Massage Iv had better, it was a lot of pressure at times and non the rest. Asked which areas you would like us to focus on, you tell them and then they don't focus on the area much at all. I'd come again but will advice that I'd like a sports massage rather then relaxing. The Starbucks Machine Love love love nice and strong. Overall I would come again. Liked but room for improvements. Better fancy prosecco cups please. Massage in the area of focus.
Fantastic experience: Great gym and facilities. I joined to enjoy the pool and spa pool/steam room and sauna. An extension of the spa rooms includes a relation room with loungers and water beds - amazing to just enjoy some quiet time after a swim and more so after a massage / treatment. As a member, discounts are offered on all spa and beauty treatments.
Negative experience: So so disappointed and annoyed with this place my wife went for full leg and arms wax and she came home all depressed and sad first of all she was served by a male which she didn’t want and had no choice but to go with it and secondly he has missed loads of hair everywhere and he has hurt her alot as he isn’t properly trained next time not going to this place not even for any body treatments
Positive experience: Was nice but nothing luxurious. Features of the spa were not explained well enough and had an issue with the lady who massaged me but manager didn't seem bothered. Still had a good relax though
Positive experience: My partner booked a 40min head and back massage through groupon with free use of the surrounding facilities. It does not last 40mins, it lasted 20/25 max! Dont get me wrong the back massage was great and got all the knots/cracks out but it was too quick and not 40mins as advertised! Sauna/jaccuzi and pool were great!
Positive experience: Had a lovely massage and facial. The spa was ok but the luxury touches were definitely missing. Having to hire towels etc seems a bit shoddy better to add into the cost and supply on arrival. Towels were small and sandals basic. Pool was also quite cold.
Positive experience: Havent been to the spa but i'm a member of the gym. The gym has sufficient amount of machines to use. Just avoid busy hours so you can enjoy more quiet. The place can be modernised especially the shower areas.
Positive experience: The treatments were amazing felt very relaxed when leaving the treatment room. Gym was good just like another normal gym. The swimming pool was a let down as it was freezing and the air conditioning was on which ment we couldn't relax due to being cold. The relaxation room was abit better loved the water beds very comfy.
Negative experience: This review is based on my experience getting gel nails done at the spa. I hardly ever get them done so was very disappointed with the result. My gel nail polish chipped within 2 days! Went back to get it fixed, only to be told my appointment was booked with someone not trained on nails so had to go in again and finally got it fixed complimentary by a lovely lady who seemed more experienced which was nice. However later in the day, the polish on 2 other nails had also chipped! So frustrating! This is meant to last me 2 weeks at-least! Clearly the person who did my nails to start with has done a very poor job!! Not coated the edges to prevent chipping - and needs more training! never going to again other than for the gym.
Fantastic experience: Bought my mom spa day for her birthday. She really enjoyed and said the staff were lovely to her.also was given a complimentary heated eye mask as it was her bday. She would definitely reccomend. Thanks bannatyne!
Fantastic experience: It really depends on who's on reception when you arrive. Most of the staff are friendly, although their is an older woman staff member who is miserable as sin and should be avoided. Not what you expect from a facilty of this standard. Lab pt is the best there. Saj, one of the cleaners, is an absolute legend. Gym has most of the things you need, jacuzzi could be warmer and pool could be a little more staffed. Thank you, Bannatyne team, for a great experience. Dom.
Positive experience: The spa staff were amazing can't fault them they didn't try a hard sell of products. Some of the reception staff were a bit scattered. There is a women's only steam room and sauna which was good. The pool area needs more seating I couldn't get any. The pool was a bit cold and I didn't get to try the jacuzzi it was always full. Make sure to take your own robe and slippers or you have to pay they are cashless. Overall the rest of the facilities I would say ok could do with upgrade to modernise. Enjoy
Negative experience: Appalling. As you can see many reviews reflect badly, I would listen to them! The weekend just pasted me and my friend went for my birthday. While I was in treatment and my friend was in the pool area, a member of staff came down, threw our towels on the floor off of our loungers to give our loungers to other customers. When making a complaint management have called us liars and said that you can not have loungers unless in use. So what are you meant to take all your things with you when you want to jump into the jacuzzi? Not only were we cob smacked at the actions of such staff members on Saturday, the response from management is discusting. No customer service what so ever.
Positive experience: A really lovely spa. I felt looked after. The treatments I had were amazing - massage and facial. Dropped a star because some of the lockers didn't work, it needs some cosmetic work around the pool area and the charge to hire a spa bag is quite expensive
Negative experience: A rather disappointing experience, I booked a facial and a lava shell back massage with pool access for myself and my mum on a saturday, this was my first time at Bannatynes and I wouldn't come back. The facilities are quite worn down and a lot of lockers don't work, the showers are in a pretty sorry state too. We arranged a double treatment room however on the day they couldn't accomodate this and split us up, explaining that we had to call ahead to arrage it (i did), once in the therapy room my therapist poped out to get the massage oils, skin care for the facial and lava shells, she was gone for over 20 minutes and that ate up my total treatment time, for the remaining 25 minutes of the lava shell massage it felt like she was really rushing, this wasn't relaxing and I was upset how much time was wasted. The facial was nice, so was the consultation and the products, however during the whole thing my therapist tried to sell me Elemis products, once again not relaxing. If they ask about using a mask in your hair, be aware its an extra charge, when the facial was over she lead me back to reception and once again asked if i wanted to buy any of the products. My mum had a better experience so i suppose it depends on the person but her therapist also disappeared at the start. Didn't get to use the pool as childrens lessons were on at the time? This was rather bizzare.
Positive experience: In need of modernisation & a warmer jacuzzi! Spa treatments, though late to start, were lovely. Facial, head massage & mini (?) back & shoulders, really great with quality Elemis products. The facility, good stuff first - although separate, the steam room & sauna were spot on. Changing rooms & poolside; good overall basic facilities but boy, what a blast from the 70s. Refurbishments needed! Lovely relaxation room & the staff were professional & attentive. HIDDEN COSTS: if you're coming here for a spa treatment, expect to pay £8 per robe plus a £20 deposit per person. Obviously a steath charge to subsidise high energy costs. Result? I take my hard earned money elsewhere.
Negative experience: More of a leisure centre...Spa staff not the nicest people, and always a mix up with bookings , I don't get that . You dont feel like a customer, just a doll, they cant wait to get rid of you, fake nice
Positive experience: 4 stars for my massage treatment I received from Emily, she was amazing, really happy with her service! However my mom did not receive her full treatment from another lady, very disappointed as this is her Mother’s Day gift. Mom did state that hand and arm massage was included but the lady insisted she was wrong until she was proven wrong herself. She then said she could fit my my mom in “quickly” for 10 minutes however we could not stay as we had other plans. Very disappointing after spending the amount we have, my mom was also given a normal gown and not a towel gown which she had to change as it was soaking wet after coming out the pool. Considering we have to pay £18 to hire you would’ve thought this would’ve been already checked over. Coffee machine was not working properly, nobody was at the counter to address so I ended having to go upstairs to reception for help. Was really looking forward to today but now feel let down. Supposed to be a relaxing experience but I feel like I’ve wasted my money.
Positive experience: Friendly staff, clean facilities, treatments were nice, however the pool and the relaxing room were too cold, we asked a staff member to turn up the heating but we were told no as this is where they have it, definitely not spa relaxing temperatures. We paid for robe packages, All robes one size, but the robes are not one size fits all, uncomfortable to wear if not a slim person, making them uncomfortable to wear.
Positive experience: Very pleased with the treatments I had. Lovely relaxing neck, back and shoulder massage and a scalp massage. The lady who looked after us was very experienced in her work as well as pleasant to talk to However the service we received at reception wa a big disappointment. I look my mother in law but for a Birthday / Mothers Day treat. we weren't allowed treatments together and had ti go in separately -which I wasn't happy with. I've been to banbantyne a few times before, but never had this issue before, even when wevs been given different tune slots. For our treatments. Spoilt the day for us a lot.
