Our comment from FitFit UK about White Oak Leisure Centre:
Welcome to White Oak Leisure Centre, a fantastic facility located in Swanley, United Kingdom. Our centre offers a wide range of activities that cater to the whole family.
Many visitors appreciate our:
- Spacious and clean swimming pool, perfect for family swim sessions and individual workouts.
- Fun and engaging activities for children, including Tag Active and soft play, highly praised for their safety and enjoyment.
- Friendly and helpful staff who strive to enhance your experience.
- A decent café providing a variety of options for refreshments.
However, there are some areas where we can improve:
- Concerns about the cleanliness of changing rooms and other facilities have been noted by various users.
- Some visitors have expressed dissatisfaction with customer service, particularly regarding responsiveness and policies like cashless payments.
- The pool size and temperature have been common points of feedback, with hopes for a deeper and larger facility in the future.
Despite these criticisms, many enjoy their time here and recommend White Oak Leisure Centre as a great spot to visit, especially for families. We appreciate all feedback as we continually strive to enhance your experience!

White Oak Leisure Centre: Opinions
Negative experience: Really nice swimming pool but the cleanliness of the changing rooms really lets this place down. I have reported it to them and I hope they take it on board as I would like to visit again
Fantastic experience: Lots of facilities, acceptable cafe, play area to keep kids busy, and a small but functional pool. Best facility like this left in and around Swanley. Gym is not super tidy, but clean and the people are generally friendly. Evenings and late afternoons it gets a bit chaotic, but morning it’s great. Only gripe is refusal to take cash, if you don’t bring your cards, don’t expect to be able to get a coffee or anything
Negative experience: Very expensive and doesn't have any facilities such as tennis, saunas or jacuzzi,'s. Small pool for kids. Good soft play and cafe but that is about it.
Fantastic experience: Great place Good size of pool with a lots of free classes Nice people and staff
Negative experience: Charging full price but most of the swimming pools not even working...
Fantastic experience: Tage active was very fun for kids. The ginger girl at the tag reception was very happy and made it alot more fun for the kids. She was great and deserves a raise.
Negative experience: My friend and I attended the open weekend, and sadly, the 'new' equipment doesn't appear as new, just new to that gym. I had looked about the pool too, it's advertised at 2m, now I could stand up and it only came to my waist so can't have been much more than 1m. To me, both of these spell dishonesty, I would recommend going elsewhere.
Negative experience: Extremely poor customer service . When I first sign for my membership I paid a deposit and I've been told , if I want to cancel my membership I will get my deposit back .I contacted customer service regarding my refund and I've been told , they don't to refund and my deposit will be used for another month for membership ,after I explained I'm not able to attend anymore. I've been scammed unfortunately.
Positive experience: Lovely afternoon swimming. Small pool is great for the family session. Deep enough to paddle about but shallow enough for 3 year to stand. Lights and toys are a nice touch. Under 5s are free. Would be nicer to have 90 minutes to the session an hour is just a little too short
Positive experience: It's a very nice place
Negative experience: Calls you for no reason and refuses to follow up via email. Hidden charges too.
Positive experience: Nice pool for lengths. Changing OK although mixed.friendly staff.
Negative experience: Customer service is poor. I emailed the manager to enquire about swimming courses for my children and received her out of office. I then emailed the contact detailed on the out of office. No response received. I emailed the manager again upon her return, again no response. Very very poor
Fantastic experience: Good clean changing rooms, adaptations made to accommodate needs including pool depth changed for our group. All in all a positive experience. Only downside was that all of the EV charging spaces were taken up by ICE cars and a couple of EV’s which weren’t plugged in. It’s a shame when there are so many parent child spaces elsewhere in the carpark.
Negative experience: The reason for cancelling my membership is because of the price, also there are not enough classes for people who work in the evening. There seems to be a lot of virtual classes, when I do go to classes we are crammed in one studio with 25 people. The toilets are not cleaned regularly I would have liked to go swimming but there is big glass area where everyone can see you, it’s very uninviting. This is why I have given 1 star. When you go into the gym I want to use the machines but they all stand around the machine and non of the staff say anything. If there is house rules it’s not being established.
Fantastic experience: Really good value for money at Tag Active.
Negative experience: 8+ children crammed into a corner of the teaching pool, (ages 4-6) with not enough time or attention available to 'teach' the children. 1 child moved into another section of the pool, unattended, as the teacher's attention was on another child. The membership advisor was very unhelpful, when I enquired about cancelling, having not received the service we had paid for. Would not recommend this centre for child lessons, it appears money is more important than safety or the ability to give children the attention they need at this age.
Negative experience: Staff are quite rude on entry but nice on leaving only go there at your own risk ⚠️
Fantastic experience: Went swimming with family needing disabled access. Absolutely first class from staff and facilities. Thank you
Fantastic experience: Took the kids to the Tag Active and Soft Play and they loved it. The place is still quite new so everything works and it's generally quite clean (except for some mess under the tables). There is a decent cafe behind the entrance desk, and ample seating for of you're using the soft play or tag active facilities. There is a large car park just past the entrance (if coming from the main road) which is not obvious from. Google Maps yet (Dec 23)
Fantastic experience: First visit since the renovation as they do not offer any flumes I now use a different pool. However I visited the tag active today, with my two kids and they had a fantastic time. The obstacles were challenging and lots of open space. There is soft play next to it, which makes it very convenient for parents with children if different ages. Free parking, nice cafe and good amount of seating area. I will be visiting again soon. And have already recommended to my friends and family.
Fantastic experience: Love taking my son here for soft play. Good value for money.
Fantastic experience: Went today with my family and found the facilities very clean and tidy. We went swimming at 9am and it was very quiet and ideal for our daughters first time swimming. Soft play is also a great size and fun for kids
Fantastic experience: I love the place! The best leisure centre I came across so far. Tbc...
Positive experience: Waiting room for Tag not big enough. Felt like cattle. Need more tables and chairs and blocs the lockers.
Positive experience: Only visited the soft play and coffee shop with my grandson. He has been there a few tumes and really enjoys it .It's free for uner 2's, which is a bonus as others in the area charge for similar facilities. Only negative things are the reception desk young man seemed overrun with phone calls and people queuing for swimming etc. And as there are no staff in the young children's area if someone has 'an accident' like young children often do, there is nobody to sort it out .
Fantastic experience: Absolutely wonderful centre. Especially for this money. Clean, new, lovely personnel and qualified instructors
Fantastic experience: Swimming is pool is great, always clean and always working! I cant wait to bring my kids to the inflatable sessions
Fantastic experience: Fantastic new facility for Swanley, the team are very friendly and welcoming! i love training there and there is always someone there to give feedback to and listen. Highly recommend
Fantastic experience: I always bring my kids to soft play here the facilities are great and staff are so friendly and I have to say Thankyou to Sue from the cafe for making the best mocha’s she’s always so helpful and welcoming Thankyou
Positive experience: Descent
Positive experience: It's a fairly new place. Lots of car parking spaces for free with disabled parking and electric car parking. Rooms can be booked for private events, and you can host parties for kids there. There's food and drinks as well that can be bought on site. Tag Active is a popular feature. They've also got swimming pools. They're pretty busy on bank holidays, so prepare for a queue at the entrance.
Negative experience: Bag was stolen from the women’s changing room end of March. They leave the disabled and pushchair gate open all the time and the manager wasn’t helpful or sympathetic to my situation, but rather deflected to the claims I was making. A member of staff had said “this keeps happening” when I reported it immediately and when I told the manager this, all he said (paraphrasing) “you’re the second one this week so it doesn’t keep happening” like that was supposed to help me? I enjoyed this centre up until this experience, the lady at the reception who was wearing black was the nicest person there and the most helpful, she was very sympathetic to the situation. However, the gates are left open all the time which means anyone has access to the women’s changing room, my padlock was picked as I later found marks on it. I understand they can’t take responsibility for it, it was more the ‘help’ I got after. It was extremely stressful and I had to chase the manager up regarding the situation, but since there’s no cameras directed towards the door of the changing room, nothing could be done. I wouldn’t recommend, your belongings even with a padlock can still be stolen and they wont be helpful.
Negative experience: Need to update the Google description as It said had flumes as I remember as a kid and was disappointed it was just a standard pool
Negative experience: They got rid of the fine stuff .. no slides or anything..no idea why .. such a shame
Fantastic experience: What a great place, the gym is well stocked and kept clean. The staff are friendly and helpfull and knowledgeable. This place has helped me fall in love with fitness all over again. Keep up the good work I'm there almost everyday and can't wait for tonight's session
Fantastic experience: I visited my grandchildren n went with my grand daughter for swimming class Liked it but not like becontree leisure centre which is huge in size
Positive experience: The new soft play and laser tag game thingy is awesome!! Plenty of rabies and a great dejection of food and drink. I had to mark it down a star for the lack of fun in the pool though. White Oak was always famed for the flumes and the loss of those is tragic.
Fantastic experience: Really clean, water was just the right temperature, not that busy we will be back
Fantastic experience: Fantastic soft and tag.Grandchildren loved it
Fantastic experience: Brilliant - we’ve started family swimming sessions here and would definitely recommend. Plenty of space, sessions aren’t too crowded and the staff were very helpful
Negative experience: Man bitterly dissapointed, I have great memories of this place as a kid as I learned to swim here and used to come with friends after school almost every day going down the flumes and then eating potato smiley faces and burgers in the cafe (imagine that now) However it's just so soulless and utilitarian now, no character, the flumes are gone, the pool is smaller and the whole place looks sterile although I'm sure it looks good in selfies for the gram or whatever. For shame.
Fantastic experience: Great place to take the kids
Positive experience: Good range to do here of your local or not it's worth checking out with kids.
Positive experience: Lovely pool nice cafe
Positive experience: This isn’t a review as didn’t go but just to say NO WATER SLIDES anymore, all gone when rebuilt :(. Website should say old slides are gone, old photos online and on goodle are not relevant now.
Fantastic experience: Great place always clean and tidy
Positive experience: The air con has been lovely while playing Badminton. Still hard to see shuttles on white walls though
Negative experience: Pretty much a waste of time. The swimming pool is far too small for the entire community, so in place they have decided to implement a booking system to complicate things even more. I recently turned up at the pool when it was open for public swimming and was told it had been booked out by a private party. In general the pool is OK, but a definite downgrade to the previous pool.
Negative experience: The staff is friendly, the maschines are ok but everything is dirty and smells bad! the doors are extremely dirty, the floor is only wet on the central part but the corners are black of dust and full of cobwebs! You really need a deep clean inside there!
Positive experience: EDIT* - We attended today 3 Sept for Tag Active and a swim.. we were impressed with the idea behind Tag Active and it is a physically demanding game. BUT. At least 10 of the Tag lights do not work. They either have error, a clock face or simply do not react when you are tagging the light. Spoke to the girl on the desk who said she knew of some but not all of them. Swim was usual, it still needs a good clean! Hair and dirt all up the changing room doors, floor etc. June 22 - Does what it says on the tin. Regularly attend spin classes. Week on week the lights dont work. Constantly have bikes that are broken. Air con is intermittent. New flooring recently put in even though it's only 4 months old. Pool is "adequate" for 25m swimming. Changing rooms / toilets aren't the cleanest. Baring in mind it's only 4 months old. Could do with a team of cleaners. That she only there to clean!
Fantastic experience: Circuit class with Holly this evening was fantastic, best class I've done so far, bloody hard but inclusive, option for everyone at any level. Feeling energised, top marks for Holly
Fantastic experience: Lovely new sports centre
Positive experience: Well looked after kept nice and clean well organised with swimming times
Negative experience: £20 for 2 kids to use Tag Active is an outrageous price. Nowhere to park I managed to park near the bowling center and this was on a Monday in term time.
Positive experience: Enjoy using the equipment but some of the facilities are not open after 12.30 Saturday and not at all Sunday and only till 6.30 during the week
Fantastic experience: Cool
Negative experience: The company that runs it is terrible! I've had multiple payments come out of my bank, late fees for classes I attempted and failed to book. Staff are trying their best but seems everything is run through head office which are impossible to get hold of and you never get a call back. We've given up which is a shame because the facilities are great.
Positive experience: We visited the new pool for the first time today. On arrival there were no signs for parking. We found somewhere to park and mentioned this to reception where the girl on reception said there were signs to which we said that’s strange as we didn’t see any and drove around a fair bit, she replied again with well there are signs with a sarcastic laugh. When we left there were no signs for parking as we thought! In the pool, nice and clean in the pool but toilets were dusty with hair on back of seats at the 9am session, made me think it hadn’t been cleaned at all. Hot pipes also on show unprotected in the toilets outside of pool area. The changing rooms were the coldest I have ever experienced, when we got out the pool with our children they were blue and shivering while we tried to dry them as quick as we could. This would put me off returning given just how cold it was. The lifeguards were very strange looking at the families having fun with funny looks and pulling faces…very strange and made us feel self conscious about enjoying our swim.
Fantastic experience: All looks very fresh and new given the recent reopening. Looks great and soon studio is very bespoke. The new feature tag just passed the main reception for kids looks Amazing!
Positive experience: It's okay ! Not brilliant ! Water level is same all round.
Positive experience: Very clean helpful staff
Fantastic experience: New and fresh.
Positive experience: Two pools and not much else in the swimming center. A bit of a let down really!
Fantastic experience: New, means new. Clean, spacious, cheap, best so far in kent
Positive experience: We made our first visit to the new White Oaks Leisure centre today for 13.00 Public Swim on Saturday. The first hurdle was booking online. The website has a shocking booking system. It’s almost as if the web developers just stopped putting on filters to make the booking process simple. To book a public swim you have to go through each swim category on each day before you get to what you want. It’s terrible! When we arrived from the outside it all looked very shiny and new. Lovely building. The old leisure centre is still there so it’s still work in process. The parking is shocking and very limited. We parked around the corner and walked back. Many people had parked outside on double yellow lines. When we arrived the queue was all the way outside so pre booking seemed rather pointless. The reception area is tiny and was very crowded. The design layout is also terrible as the food area is right next to the main entrance and the soft play. You have to way past all that before you get to the pool. The changing area is big and new. There were plenty of lockers. Unfortunately everyone is walking around in there outdoor shoes so it will get very dirty on a wet day. There are two pools and the area was warm and light. Main pool is much smaller than the old pool. For the public swim 3/4 of the pool was still marked for lane swimming which was annoyingly for two twelve year olds but also because they have so many dedicated separate lane swimming sessions. The teaching pool was busy and boys liked the floats. Even for the family swim session the lanes weren’t removed by the lifeguards. Overall it was ok but poor design layout and could have been so much better use of the space.
Negative experience: Really miss the old pool. New centre looks terrible on the outside but great inside. Pool is only good if you like swimming up and down the lanes so boring.
Negative experience: New pool is too small and cold, no deep end, no lanes for serious swimmers, just for kids playtime not swimming
Negative experience: Left a pair of expensive brand new googles and some other items at the Pool. Went back to enquire whether they'd been handed in. Told they only kept lost property for 7 days and then they throw it away!!! Not impressed
Fantastic experience: Pool not as big as before but still a good size. Changing rooms and showers both upgraded so very pleasant experience
Positive experience: Nice new centre however it's a little disorganised and badly laid out. Also, parking is chaos and the pedestrian walkway to the carpark isn't very good at all
Fantastic experience: Nice place with amazing fun for kids, nice gym and swimming pool. ♀️
Fantastic experience: Great, quite busy, data doesn't work well but once u logged in to free WiFi & accept terms it was excellent, equipment is slick with plenty of different machines & free weights friendly helpfull staff, looking forward to checking out the pool, changing area's nice & warm..☆
Fantastic experience: Main pool was colder than usual today Still a great facility though. Will greatly miss the challenge a 33m length presents. Why has the replacement pool in the brand new leisure centre been reduced to 25m? The land could easily fit a 50m multiuse pool - with Diving Boards and Flumes.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely love the club and the coaches.
Negative experience: I have been a member here for over 15 years, sadly now the swimming pool time table does not cater for people who have to go to work in the day time. There is only one evening swimming session on a Thursday and very limited access for lane swimmers at the weekends, so it is hardly worth becoming a swimmer member, as you can only used the pool at limited times. Many people have complained over this issue but the only response from the manger who creates the time table is silence
Negative experience: Disabled parking needs managing as 12 out of 13 cars parked in the disabled bays had no badge! Disappointing.
Negative experience: The website doesn't explain much. Was ok but not anything like the pictures on the website
Positive experience: Sad day! Flumes are no longer open and the pool is in transition as the new leisure centre is being built next door. New leisure centre won't have the slides and will be a lesser offering than the current pool which we've enjoyed for many years and drove to enjoy the three slides as there's not many places that offer what White Oak used to. Good memories!
Fantastic experience: Me and son had a good swim,
Fantastic experience: I do love this leisure centre. I live in Orpington and we have one there but I much prefer the drive over to Swanley. The pools are always clean and the lifeguards are always aware of their surroundings. The reception staff are really kind and helpful.
Positive experience: Very dated pool and no shower cubicles just poolside ones. Staff very nice though
Fantastic experience: Very helpful staff on the phone and at the pool - couldn't have been more helpful; Mytime could emulate them.
Thank you for your kind review, Madeleine!
Fantastic experience: Good facilities. No access to change rooms due to Covid restrictions
Fantastic experience: nice
Negative experience: Generally awful. Bad service, poor & sarcastic attitudes, expensive, manipulative financial penalties.
Positive experience: White Oak leisure centre is a fantastic centre for swimming pool, gym, badminton courts, splash Court, practice halls etc.
Negative experience: Paying a family price for 2 people for a one hour swim is ripping customers off. For the new centre - what an absolute joke trying to book a swim. Downloaded the everyone active app, then registered, but when I tried to login to book but it didn't recognise password, tried to reset but it wouldn't allow me to due to multiple EA online accounts detected, whatever that means so tried to ring centre but I guess they don't like to do their job and answer the phone. Why is it so poxy hard just to book a swim session for. Abysmal service!
Positive experience: The pool is large and clean. The building, gym and studios are very dated.
Fantastic experience: We use White Oaks for swimming only but have to say they have some fantastic members of staff to hand, both on reception and poolside.
Positive experience: The old 33 metre (actually 39 yard) pool is open again. Last chance to swim in a decent length pool before they replace it with another wretched 25 metre effort.
Fantastic experience: Given the current situation it's good to have the gym open at white Oak. A lot of the equipment has been stored so social distancing is observed, you are obliged to wipe down the equipment after use and people do this. Toilets and locker room. New gym open and lot busier but larger so one cancels out the other. More equipment to use new ones too but someone is on hand to show you how to use them. Heard comments saying place was dirty have to say I find it to be clean and normally come across people cleaning it so I'm OK with it. Prices still the same and I think good value for the money. Now been told that gym is to be closed for just over 2 weeks in August for refurbishment. I find this strange since the place has been open for 2 and half years.
Thank you for your review, Brian!
Positive experience: Well organised swim sessions
Negative experience: I got kicked out of the pool because I was in there for too long and then rushed me out of the shower and the changing rooms, they started shouting at me and was pushing me around.
Negative experience: Went 8th March 2 adults 2 children - pricey at over £26! Family changing cubicle = filthy Scum line around the inside of the pool at the waterline....... Disgusting! Won't be going back as I would not want to catch anything from that place.
Fantastic experience: I have had an amazing experience today! I was in the pool for hours! Staff were really friendly and I don’t know if it was for Christmas, but all of the staff were pushing each other into the pool. They looked like they were having an amazing time! That made my day. The Reason for my visit was to go on the inflatables, but they didn’t seem to set them up even though on there timetable it said inflatables from 2:30pm onwards. I had an amazing time though, definitely will be visiting again!
Negative experience: Me giving 1 star is me being extremely generous and besides, there's no option of a 0 star. I recently moved to the kent area and after doing a Google search on near by swimming pools, I drove 5.5 miles to this swimming pool thinking, being in the area that it's in, it's bound to be superb and all, but wow, was I taking by surprise. First of all, I encountered a close to 40 minutes wait at reception just to pay, and no, it's not because it was busy that day. In fact, I was second in the queue. Yep second! The receptionist was a young girl, who probably had very little experience on the counter..... clearly. You'd think that that being the case, someone else more experienced would have stayed close by to assist, but nop, there were no other staff in sight, and when the poor girl eventually did sum up the courage to call for help, it took about 15 minutes for the manager (or who ever he was) to eventually SHOW up!. To think that would have been the worst of it all. My children and I enventually got into the pool(I was with my 9 month old baby too, who has been going swimming since 10 weeks old), and boy was it a very distressing experience for me and especially for my baby. Most sections of the pool at the time were not accessible to the public as there were swimming lessons taking place in parts of the pool. That left a relatively small section for family swim session. As though that wasn't bad enough, the center also decided to put a massive inflatable ship right in the centre of what was already a small section, where children could bounce and throw themselves into the pool. That was bizarre and an absolute nightmare, as children were almost throwing themself onto my baby and making enormous splashes at us. To make it worse, the water was extremely cold. Of all the times I have being taking my baby swimming (which is at least once a week since he was 10 weeks) he had never cried in a pool until his moment in white Oak Leisure centre swimming pool. We lasted 5 minutes in the pool before exiting. The nightmare did not end there. The changing room and facilities were the worst I'd ever seen. The word dirty could not describe just how nasty the place was. I had to change my baby on my lap, as I couldnt bring myself to laying him down on the baby changing unit, not even with his mat and a cloth first placed on top of it. The shower rooms were repulsive and the centre has the nerve to charge to use the blow dryer (as in, where is that done... ever?!!). They also charge for the lockers too. I couldn't believe it when the 20p coin that I inserted into the locker got swallowed up did not return to me. You'd think they'll use all the money they make from the customers using their facilities to provide a decent facility and maintain it. Did I mention that the costs to use the swimming pool is the highest I've see? I have been to far better swimming pools that cost much much less. Anyway, to sum it all up, It is the worst swimming pool I've seen. It's not nice and I will never visit there again!
Negative experience: Out of date and very dirty changing rooms. Staff on duty are all around 16 who don’t really have any interest in being there.
Negative experience: They do not pick up the phone. It is soooo annoying
Positive experience: Couldn't get in as we found out at reception that arm bands aren't allowed, only unaided swimmers . I had a very disappointed youngster. Wish the website had explained this to avoid the journey .
