Negative experience: Have been using the pool facilities for two years and every time something is always broken. The general swim lanes are always limited to only 3 lanes at best. They are focused on blocking lanes for swim schools. Staff are always nice, but who ever is the general manager really needs to reflect on what services and facilities equipment they want to provide for members, it’s simply impressive what terrible conditions the assets are in..

Negative experience: A staff member told a couple of people to vacate this table because she needed to use it, which I thought was rather rude. Think she may have asked them if they were members or if they are signing up for a membership. They answered no so had to vacate the seat. You guys should have your own table for membership signups, etc or maybe have a sign on it if you don’t want people to sit there. It’s not cool to tell people to move. Common courtesy.

Negative experience: The pool is quite big but is very poorly ventilated and very chlorinated. This makes for a bad swimming experience and causes dangerous chlorine coughs. Please improve ventialtion.

Negative experience: If you like swimming after work or in the evening in general, don’t join this leisure centre. Friday pool shuts at 7, I finish work at 6. Saturday shuts at 5. And on a sunday you got 1 hour between 5&6 before it’s female only till 7

Negative experience: We visit this leisure centre every Tuesday for swimming lessons and today we came a bit later around 16:10 instead of 15:45ish only to discover that the cafe was closed and the poor child had to attend the lesson on a hungry stomach DESPITE lots of Spanish chattering going on behind the counter in the kitchen and food was served to a lady who spoke Spanish…. So was the cafe really closed or was it just the situation of lazy staff members deciding to finish earlier !

Negative experience: The lessons and facilities are basic but decent sized pool and some of the instructors are very good. However absolute nightmare since they switched to the portal for lessons booking. we've been told we need to move both our kids up a class however they've only updated one of them in the portal with rhe ability to change the portal so have left about 4 or 5 voicemails, messages with the front desk, emails and no one is replying it's incredibly frustrating. At the point where just want to cancel but hard to find somewhere else locally that does lessons for older kids. Great to have a portal in place but make sure the tech works and your instructors use it.

Negative experience: Be careful when cancelling the membership, it has to be 15 days in advance and they will charge you no matter your circumstances, if you are unemployed or away and not using the facilities (or both in my case, and I gave them 13 days notice). In 2024 you can't cancel through your online account, the email took 5 days to get a reply.

Negative experience: Yesterday I was in the sauna with a friend and the manager came to asked to us to leave becauese we dont have wrist band and not paid for it.. Funny enought we paid for it and staff forget to gave us the wrist band.. on my way out i showed the recipt and he still not saying sorry for his mistakes.. The servise is very poor ...

Positive experience: No issues with the pool but always usually over booked which doesn’t allow for a solid training session if you’re looking for something more than just casual lap swimming. Mornings are your best bet when it’s still busy but lanes are double size so can swim past those who maybe shouldn’t be in the fast lane. Only one month into a rolling membership and hoping winter months quieten down otherwise will be looking for another pool

Positive experience: Only use the gym, good value for the monthly. Minus a star as the rowing machines are always broken. Also they’re the Aqua Flow ones which tbh are a bit rubbish. Ideally would swap them out for the C2 standard, especially as this is Putney!

Fantastic experience: I visited this place late March, as my local leisure centre in Tooting was already booked. i was delighted by how friendly the staff was especially Eleanor, she could tell it was my first time so I didn't no where the changing rooms were, but she took time to show me were everything was. I was touched how flawless her friendliness was.. not only that the other members who were using the facilities were very kind too.. Excellent first experience & won't be the last. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: Today the Manager Connor delivered a great service usung his managerial skills. He was very calm and understood the issue ,adjusted to the situation and found solution to the problem. He bit the objection, welcomed me and took me for a tour in the Centre .. During the day I have seen him delivering his great service to other customers that were in needs . I truly recommend this Centre for everyone. I felt understood, helped, welcomed and after my stay I felt so positive and ready to challenge life! Thank you Manager Connor ! You are surely valuable to your company and your customers!!!!

Positive experience: It was my first visit to the leisure centre in a long time due to other commitments, and I was really looking forward to getting back in the pool. The ladies toilets smelled strongly of urine (despite a notice on the door saying they are regularly cleaned) and they need to replenish the toilet rolls! Despite a sign on the ladies changing room door saying children of the opposite gender weren't allowed to enter, there were at least three boys aged around 10 years old in there which was frustrating.. The pool seems clean and it was good to be in a pool with other users who didn't rush you or get impatient. I used the showers in the main pool area before and after my swim and the water came out like a trickle and timed out really quickly. The changing room also felt so, so cold when I went back in there. The leisure centre is inexpensive compared to many venues and to do pay as you go is a benefit when life gets busy and you can't commit to a monthly membership, but I think I'll look elsewhere for another activity as the changing rooms feels grubby, being in there just feels dirty and it doesn't make for the best experience.

Positive experience: I joined with swimming only membership and I have been really pleased with the whole experience. I go in the morning before the family time so the changing rooms are super clean. Swimtag is offered free of charge. It is a wristband which measures distance, time and calories and is a real motivator for me to keep improving. The only downside is that there are alot of elderly people who come during the lane swimming times, as opposed to family times. This means you can't lane swim in the "slow swim lane" as there is always someone walking or exercising and I wouldn't want to cause an accident or hurt anyone. So I swim (as fast as I can) in the "medium swim lane", although I am not fast enough for this lane. This may cause annoyance to faster swimmers but there is not much I can do. The steam room is good and usually working.

Fantastic experience: Great gym with a good selection of classes and great value for money. The staff here are really helpful and have always resolved any issues (eg; sometimes there are problems booking classes on the app but if you call up they’re happy to sort it over the phone). I think the low reviews don’t consider the price. Most other gyms in London charge 2-3 times as much with fixed contracts so considering the price, this place provides excellent value. The pool and facilities are good (great steam room and sauna and good sized swimming pools). The changing rooms are a bit dirty but generally it’s ok if you cover your feet. The thing I love most about this gym is the great selection of classes which are fun and varied. It’s a shame that the Step class is no longer available in the evening as that was so fun. All the instructors are really positive and friendly and I actually enjoy going to this gym which is something I thought I’d never say and means I exercise more :)

Negative experience: I went there today for my swimming class and it was canceled today. They didn't send us any email or phone call. The receptionist there said she had 15 classes to cancel and email but missed out on ours. I am absolutely appalled and furthermore they didn't have any polite apologies for wasting my time. What a disgrace and waste of time. I am really disappointed.

Positive experience: I'd give 4.5 if I could. For what it is, it's really good. Sauna & Steam Room, occasionally one is out of service, but for the past 6 months (how long I've been here), they've managed to get them working again. Good amount of varied weights and equipment, and even at peak times I can still get my workout done. Granted, I don't use the most popular items though. The staff are nice, and some even remember you and chat up a bit, which makes it feel a bit friendlier.

Negative experience: Why is the water coming out of the showers close to boiling point whilst there are notices how they are trying to go carbon neutral??? Would be good start to turn the temperature of the showers by 10 degrees.

Fantastic experience: My diving club, Dive Wimbledon, practices scuba diving skills here and this is the first time visiting the leisure centre. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the swimming pool area is huge. I very much enjoyed the experience and I hope to be coming back regularly.

Positive experience: Lovely swimming pool for family time on the weekends. The area has a lot of natural light so if it's sunny it almost feels you're outside. Well organised and decently clean changing rooms. Bring your own padlock.

Positive experience: For a swimming pool it's fairly basic and limited on space...most times it's separated in to small areas for different things so you feel restricted...but the water temperature is lovely, the staff are friendly and there is a wonderful cafe upstairs just as you enter/exit ....the price is cheap and well worth the visit for some exercise.

Negative experience: For the first time ever i met with the most disrespectful and rude manager, horrible customer service and totally I felt not welcomed with my children. the manager was simply disrespectful and rude, he start arguing and fight with me in front of my children and all his team, no manners whatsoever. Instead of speaking to me politely he decided to speak to me in a disgusting tone and even he wanted to fights. Horrible man with very bad attitude.

Fantastic experience: An exemplar of secured leisure place: I went with my friend one evening and had mistakenly left my watch, goggles, and shampoo. I didnt realize until next morning and I went to check the place. A manager named Glyn was probably there during that shift and he told me that the whole place is secured so if I have left it inside the Leisure centre it should be safely in the lost and found stock or the place it was left back. And when I went down to check, I found my stuffs at the shower place, exactly where I had left them the night before. Another incident I remember I was new in swimming and was about to drown, and almost instantly two life savers responded with lifebouys. They were very helpful and even guided me a bit on the basics of swimming and now I love chilling there after work. I am not a native English speaker, and therefore understanding the fluent speaking is sometimes hard for me. But the team is always very cooperative and always patiently guides me slowly whenever I need them. All in all, a lovely place with even more marvelous people! Fabulous management team, highly supportive, and very active. Highly recommended for busy and forgetful people like me who want a safe and secured place to chill and focus on self-development. Negative experience: For the first time travelling, there took us an hour. Me and my family didn’t want to put the children down , had a an issue small problem entering They’re very rude no mercy & arguing with me, like you are not welcomed and totally I felt not welcomed and if you go there you might toot, I will never ever go back to the place horrible customer service & showers outside no privacy for showers, no facilities

Positive experience: Complaint Regarding My Experience at Putney Leisure Center Dear Leadership Team of Putney Leisure Center, I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with my recent visit to the Putney Leisure Center. As a regular visitor and paid member, I believe it is essential to bring my concerns to your attention regarding the facility's operation and its impact on the public. On the morning of 10 Sep 2023, I arrived at the leisure center at 9:20 AM with the intention of enjoying a swim. To my surprise, after I entered the pool I was informed by a lifeguard that the pool had been reserved for classes, and I would not be able to swim. I complied and left the pool area. After waiting for 15 minutes and observing no classes taking place, I decided to return to the pool to swim with the presence of at least one lifeguard who are on duty. However, I was met with constant whistles and shouting from the lifeguard and the manager on duty, insisting that I leave the pool area. This inconsistency in enforcing the rules left me perplexed and frustrated. If the pool would be evacuated at 9:30 sharp, a better policy would be to allow last entry at 9:00 so that people wouldn’t change swimming suits in vain. Another concerning issue is the limited opening hours for lane swimmers. On weekends, the pool is only available for lane swimming from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM and from 5:30PM till 6:30PM (on Sunday, no afternoon sessions on Saturday), with the majority of the day reserved for families and children, private lessons, and the Wandsworth swimming club. This arrangement severely restricts the opportunities for the genera public and lane swimmers like myself to exercise and utilize the facility. Furthermore, I was informed that the pool would be closed between 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM for cleaning purposes. However, during this time, I observed no cleaning activities taking place. This raises questions about the transparency and efficiency of the center's operations. I believe that the Putney Leisure Center should better optimize its resources and prioritize providing ample opportunities for the public to exercise, especially considering its mission as a social enterprise and the use of public money. The current situation does not justify the limited access for lane swimmers and the inconsistent enforcement of pool rules. I kindly request that you investigate these concerns and take necessary actions to improve the overall experience for visitors like myself. I hope that my feedback will contribute to the betterment of the leisure center for all members of the community. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to your response. Negative experience: Hated our experience here. Late being released for our slot. Pool was too cold. Got screamed at by the teenage lifeguard whilst in the pool with my wife and child. We were just floating and boucing around in the pool and he took it upon himself to blast his wistle and scream from his chair whilst we were directly in front of him, even though we were turning around to the shallow end. Our child was in our arms with floaties and in zero danger. She was frightened by the blast of the whistle. Jobsworthy little git. I have decades of competitive swimming and triathlons under my belt. I'm not about to place my child risk my first born child ever! The change rooms were cold. There was visible damage to the roof with vegetation ingressing into the building. Never going back again.

Negative experience: Pool is fine but one of the staff was just straight up disrespectful. Misjudged my age and instead of speaking to me politely she decided to speak to me in a disgusting tone and was so rude and disrespectful, no manners whatsoever. Certain lifeguard has a bit of power and doesn’t know how to act .Clearly not the only one who thinks the staff are rude as other people have a made a review about the disrespect they have gotten from these staff .

Negative experience: Paying a swim membership and you have to swim in the evening with 20 people in 1 Lane, beacause there is just 3 lanes on a lane swim time. Saturday's lane swim just from 7:30 to 9:30 and Sunday the same plus a ladies swim in the evening 1h, so you have to to somewhere else to swim because during the weekend when you have time they do just family swim except for 2h.

Negative experience: I have been a member of Putney Leisure Centre for over a year now, and I would like to bring to your attention a recurring issue regarding the functionality of the sauna and steam room facilities. Over the past three months, there has been a persistent problem with the steam room, which was only recently repaired. However, soon after the steam room was fixed and operational, the sauna has been out of order for more than a month. The staff seems unaware of when it will be repaired, and their responses have been inadequate. Considering that we pay for a full membership, it is disheartening to be unable to enjoy the benefits we are entitled to. In light of this ongoing disappointment, I am compelled to raise this matter with the Wandsworth Council in order to seek a satisfactory resolution.

Negative experience: First visit to the pool. Staff at the front desk were helpful but neglected to mention that the lockers have no locks and you appear to have to bring your own. Changing rooms had a strong smell of urine and the pool had noticeable amounts of hair and other dander floating in it. Not value for money.

Positive experience: Redeveloped in the last few years, looks good and there is plenty of equipment for gym members to use. No end of machines to train diffrrent muscles and helpful staff who are able to assist if needed. Swimming is quite inexpensive & Better's facilities are always good.

Negative experience: - Steam room and sauna always out of action and open at irregular times throughout weekdays - Poor customer service skills from some of the staff (and using the leisure centre intercom to announce football scores is not what the intercom is for…) - Weird CCTV cameras in the changing rooms, I’ve never seen that in any other gym and it feels like a real invasion of privacy - Dark, untidy changing rooms I’ve since joined a Better Gym in Wimbledon instead and the quality is much better. An extra star for how cheap it is. You get what you pay for I suppose!

Fantastic experience: Spacious and good quality basic equipment in the gym, fairly busy after 3pm but there is enough equipment to keep you occupied. The staff get a bit of a bad wrap in some of the reviews but I’ve found them to be absolutely lovely!

Negative experience: The steam room has now been closed for ages. Supposedly a door problem, but I think any handyman could fix it in 10 minutes. They just want save money . The jacuzzi doesn't bubble and is still closed for some reason. The sauna has a 6-hour timer. So if it's on at 6am, it makes sense to switch it back on BEFORE midday. It would be nice if the staff could do this without a user coming out of the sauna to ask for it. In the women's changing rooms, a lamp has been missing from one of the two cubicles for a month. It's not easy to change in the dark... Finally, some members of the team could be friendlier. And for pity's sake, stop asking us to send e-mails to the manager to complain. It's your job to listen and solve it. Just read all the complain here and you will know how you can improve your center !

Positive experience: Decent, large scale facility but suffers from frequent break downs which take ages to sort out. The Steam Room has now been out of use for over three months and the Spa Pool or Dipping pool are often not available with repetitive reasons such as 'National Chlorine Shortage' wearing thin. They are happy to charge membership fees but are not really concerned about lack of facilities offered.

Positive experience: I have only been a few times as part of swim groups. The pool is nice. However I've noticed that there are cameras in the communal shower and changing room areas which I find rather disturbing. Filming people whilst showering feels like an unnecessary invasion of privacy, even if wearing swim suits. Have users been made aware of this and consented to it? Have there been serious incidents to justify this? I have not noticed this in any other gym / swimming pool I use.

Negative experience: False advertisement. Claim to have a womens only hour of swimming yet the life guards are only men??? And one of the female staff members told me that ‘if you want to swim the lifeguards will be men we can’t do anything about it’. Yet I have been attending on and off since 2022 and have only ever seen a female life guard. If you will have womens swimming with male life guards say that on the website, enough with the lies!!! Drove all the way there just to find out it was a scam.

Negative experience: Swimming and gym are good, but too many class cancellations and the management never replied about it. 3 cancellations or replaced to others without people who booked the classes (yes they know how to reach us) in 1 week are too much. They charge members for no show or last minute cancellation but when they do, they ignore the members. It is a nice gym with nice staff members but if you want to attend the class please be aware the unnotified cancellations.

Positive experience: Generally good facilities but some members of staff have quite appalling customer service skills. One of the swimming teachers frequently cordons off a lane so that he can exclusively use it for swimming, even when the pool is quite busy. The same person is frequently arrogant and rude to users and acts as if he owns the place. The front desk staff are lovely and accommodating though. Could be an excellent facility with some personnel changes.

Positive experience: Called up to enquire about membership and if i can be given a tour. Great experience speaking to the member of staff who said it will not be a problem. Arrived and spoke to the receptionist whose name starts with a "A" but unfortunately i cant recall it. She was very welcoming and friendly and asked me to wait for a member of staff to take me around. Andreas showed me all the facilities and was extremely warm, polite and friendly with tonnes of knowledge. I decided to sign up then and there. This venue also procides a discount for Bluelight which is superb. A new staff member/life gaurd helped me find a facility i was looking for. He was polite and helpful and yet he was very new. (Young slim man with dark hair that is cut with extreme fade) Areas i think need improvement are, fixing the urinal in the male members change room as it leaves only one toilet. Placing a dustbin there so that people dont throw their sauna bands on the floor. The venue could also install soap dispensers in the shower and fill with cheap soap with disinfectant. Other than that it would be nice to see the steam room up and running again and to air out the downstairs stretching area which needs a little ventilation. All in all i was extremely happy with the staff and their professionalism which are a credit to the company. Facilities are ok and one would be hard pressed to find a sauna at this price point.

Positive experience: I absolutely love Putney Leisure Centre. I recently switched from Pure Gym and am so much happier here. While the equipment is a little old and the changing rooms need some renovation, there is a lovely community feel. Great for triathlon training too - clean pool and good bikes overlooking the pool. Only downside is some of the front desk staff. One or two women are pretty unpleasant - always a downer to see them. They never say hello to customers first, seems like we are interrupting them. I would recommend some more training on customer service and etiquette - even if they have been there for a while, there is no excuse. All the other guys at the desk are friendly.

Negative experience: The website is poor regarding information. I have tried to find a timetable for water aerobics and wonder if anything like this exists!! There is no information regarding when the teaching pool and the baby pool are free.

Positive experience: I only use this facilities to take my kids to swimming lessons and wait at the stands and cafe area. Even so, I have to give a good rating for the security and variety this leisure center presents to its members and I have always been well received even though O am not a member. Cant talk about the classes or services they provide but wouldnt mind trying them if the chance arrises.

Positive experience: The staff are kind and helpful but the pool and the changing rooms are derelict; the worst is that each time I have been there, I found hair floating in the water and getting entangled in my fingers. Very unpleasant. Why cannot the management introduce a rule for everyone to wear a swimming cap? Many pools around the world have it as obligatory. No cap no swim.

Fantastic experience: It's great for the price. I only use the pool and it's super easy to check what's happening in the pool before you go. There's free parking which you need to validate inside. Sauna and steam room are included in your membership, but don't forget to ask for a band at reception. The staff are always super helpful too.

Negative experience: Not even a month after our swimming memberships started, they somehow changed their direct debit system to Harlands group and without any warning my direct debit payment got increased. In case for whatever reason they couldn’t take money from you account the additional administration fee of £20 applies! What a surprise! Thank you, Putney Leisure Centre for the cat in a bag!

Negative experience: Avoid going for a membership agreement. It's a trap to get more money . I went to Putney leisure centre to get a swimming session for 1 day but a staff told me to get a membership which is cheaper 'she said' and that I can terminate the membership by cancelling the direct debit. A month later I received £70 for cancelling the direct debit. I have told them that I was given a wrong information but they are not listening to it and keep asking me to pay £70. Its a scam. It's run by Harland group. Please go and see their reviews. It's not just me but alot of people got ripped off like me .

Negative experience: We have signed up for annual membership less than a month ago and already experienced to unpleasant interactions with the staff members. We read the reviews online prior about unfriendly staff and thought it would be ok since we can try and not interact with the staff much however, they have still managed to find a way to be disrespectful to 2 different family members, on 2 different occasions. When attempting to speak to the manager, he said it was a bad connection despite clearly hearing me before I mentioned I had a complaint, and said he would call back ‘in a minute’, but has not bothered to do so.

Negative experience: Took my grandchildren swimming last week and as there were no disabled spaces available, parked in car park with green sign saying for users of the leisure centre! On leaving discovered a parking fine. My daughter went back in to the centre and the tiniest of signs asking to notify staff on arrival re parking! A very costly visit. Putney Baths...MAKE PARKING SIGN MORE VISIBLE!

Positive experience: If you want to use the pool, you have to book a family session in advance, even if you're by yourself. The lockers require you to bring a pad lock. There was a cockroach in the changing rooms. The pool itself is good.

Negative experience: The most important what I don’t like at Putney leisure centre that when you arrive I’m keep saying hi to reception and 90% of staff avoid to say hi! They should say first then to being rude and avoid clients. If you need any help then forget about it. I can say 1 max 2 staff what it’s helpful the rest really avoiding and rude. If they would have a better management and train how to treat costumers then could be a good gym. Most of time also sauna or steam room not working, and some pools also. If they want to get back lost customer because of covid then not just the price should be raised the service as well include being polite specially at reception! IT SHOULD BE REALLY BASIC TO BE NICE AND SAY HELLO TO EVERYONE WHO ARRIVE!

Fantastic experience: I have been using Putney Leisure Center for the last 6 years and I can say that, this is the best GYM and Swimming pool in Wandsworth. The staffs has always been friendly and helpful. The only issue is somethings the steam room gets broken and we all have to wait until it gets fixed and sometimes this takes forever.

Negative experience: Shambolic website. Cannot see the prices without logging in. No info if swimming has to be booked or can just turn up on the day. During weekdays, school children leave their belongings in the changing rooms, not in the lockers provided, and the staff doesn't bother to tell their teachers about it.

Negative experience: Worst place ever. The centre is poorly maintaned. Sometimes the staff is unkind. The gym and especially the locker rooms/showers are very dirty and smelly, it's clear that there's a lacking in regular cleaning. Hot weather or cold it doesn't matter, the air co is always set at very low temperatures and blow straight to your forehead or shoulder while you are training all sweaty. The requests to regulate the temperature were useless. Can't wait til my subscription expires.

Negative experience: Don’t park here unless you want to receive a ticket if you’re not a member. I parked here entered my reg on the left hand side machine, the lovely Andreas was the one who helped me at the front desk, took the kids for a swim. Came back to a ticket on my car. The joke of it was that there were several people who got a ticket on the same machine as me. Me and another customer went to speak about this and the staff told us to call the number. That number is for payments only and was told by staff at front desk the machine might not be working. That’s no good to us ! After trying the number, the other customer wanted to speak to the manager Zak who said there’s nothing they can do. I understand it’s an external device used. If there is a problem and several customers who had tickets the same time as me report there to be a problem. Then the staff at front desk should speak to the company so they can send a ticket to the IT desk to sort this out. The device has no out of order signage on it with a possible fault/ problem and now we are lumbered with a ticket when we followed the rules. Absolutely appalling duty of care to customers with a £100 ticket and a shrug of the shoulders. Put that machine out of order !

Negative experience: The swimming lessons are a joke. Looks Like the instructor is reading a script. She doesn’t observe the children, no corrections on mistakes. She clearly doesn’t have passion for teaching and see teaching something to just get money to pay the bills. She doesn’t care at all about have the children improving. I have attended 3 lessons and it’s been a big disappointment. My daughter is also attending 1:1 lessons (already passed stage 2) at the same time and although I understand that group lessons are different, I was expecting lessons, not just 30 minutes of scripts reading. I’m sure I’ll move somewhere else. Not recommend at all.

Negative experience: Unfriendly, unhelpful and rude front desk staff. The staff have a bad attitude towards their customers/ members and information request. I have also noticed them yelling at other members. As a customer facing role, they should be attentive and helpful however they seem annoyed and bothered over simple things. The children's swimming lessons are good. The swimming teacher is stern and lovely. I would have given another star, however the staff at the front desk ruin the experience almost each time you come in through the doors. I would strongly suggest training front desk staff on what is good customer service and etiquette!!!

Negative experience: I am quite upset with their swimming pool half -term arrangements. As a member I would expect to be able to swim in the swimming pool also in this period. What they do is they change the settings of the whole pool for the half -term. Meaning there are only 2 very narrow swimming lanes, from which one is also used for private hires. In other words, 90% of the swimming pool is being selected as a playground for children, teenagers etc... and only one lane is left for people who would like to swim. The lanes are also very narrow consequently one is not really able to swim clockwise without accidently kicking or touching another person. This is not only poorly planned but also very frustrating for regular users who need to be super careful every time passing other on such poorly prepared lanes. This place has got really great capacity unfortunately the people who arranged this set up don't seem to have much of common sense or imagination.

Fantastic experience: I started going to Putney Leisure Centre in 2021 to join the gym and got Mattei to be my Personal Trainer (PT). I cannot praise Matt and the team at the leisure centre highly enough; they are excellent! I hadn't been to a gym in nearly 20 years, and as a disabled person who uses a wheelchair user, I was concerned about injuring myself and not making progress. Matt specifically researched how to safely exercise and protect me from injury, but also make strong progress. We did a variety of exercises and I became much stronger and became much more comfortable with going to the gym and having a strong form on the machines. Matt is a great PT, supportive, challenging and holds a conversation well! I completely recommend Matt as a PT and the wider team and facility at the centre. They are 10/10.

Negative experience: It's a nice pool but they are still working on social distancing measures. You have to pre book and the booking site is awful. You also have to book a set time, unless you can commit to arrive at a precise time a week ahead you won't be able to book the time you want. Retaining these covid measures are just making it hard for many people to use this quality facility.

Positive experience: Went back to swimming after a hiatus since the pandemic. Had an issue with my app which the receptionist helped me out with which was much appreciated. The website was totally confusing in terms of booking and I tried to call but no one called me back. So decided to come in person wasting a morning as all slots were booked already to swim. Overall the booking process is a nightmare when it fails. Hopefully going forward it’ll be much easier to book and swim!

Positive experience: This is a small 33m heated pool in the middle of Putney. It's easy to book. However, you need to bring your own padlock for the locker.

Positive experience: Been there at 6pm, slot is for 45mins 5.90p each includes sauna and steam room. But at this time there is only lane swimming and not a pool, for swimming pool timing is 1-4pm. We weren't able to go to swim in lane pool as I am not a swimmer so we only used spa pool and sauna and just for that price is not worth.

Negative experience: If you want to swim, don't bother. Seriously, don't bother. Apparently one has to know weeks ago when they would like to book a swim session in. Being self employed, I don't have that luxury, so had to check everyday for a free slot/cancellation. Now I wouldn't mind this, as I know companies are scared to be seen as non 'Covid compliant'. However, when I turned up to the centre it just didn't make any sense. Reception staff not masked and only one pathetic screen barely covering one person, (there were three people behind the desk). Yet, when herded down some dingy corridors, you realise that the men's changing rooms are barricaded shut. Apparently, according to other swimmers, one must arrive 'swim ready' , yet no info on website regarding this. Granted, it does say that some centres will enforce this, yet nowhere on the Putney main site, does it say compulsory. So, unfortunately for the other swimmers, I had to strip down out of my work suit in the corridor, which apparently is where we queue and wait to be ushered in by a staff member. Again, what is the point of this, as we're all standing shoulder to shoulder in a small confined corridor? Surely it would make sense to open both female and male changing rooms? Whilst waiting for the staff member to allow us freedom, it became clear that one could not shower before entering the pool, as the poolside area itself is a one way system. But it's ok right, because there are only a limited number of swimmers allowed in a timeslot right? Wrong! There were roughly 25 of us squashed into 3 lanes, whilst 10 mins after our session started, 20 school kids arrived for a swimming lesson in the other half of the pool. After the joyous swim, I picked up my work suit, which I had to unceremoniously place over a poolside chair and headed to have a nice shower. However yet again there are no separate facilities, so did not have the option to have a proper shower, as school kids and elderly ladies were sharing the facilities. Surely it makes sense to keep the two separate changing areas open and have a male and female attendant doing a quick sanitize of the areas after each session?? Yet for some reason we are all herded into one area which itself is not clean at all! And why all this Carry On? Because Covid, apparently. Finally, once dressed and ready to escape, I put on my loafers only to then have to walk back through the shower area and through a small fire escape and into the barren car park. All in all I entered and left the pool less clean than pre covid times. I've seen less Covid measure in hospitals. I will never visit this concentration camp again. N.B. All hand/hair dryers and half of the showers taped and boarded up, because Covid.

Negative experience: Unprofessional staff, unsanitary COVID-19 practices. Closest gym to my home, which is why I go - but since joining only a month or two ago I’ve noticed really subpar service which is a shame. For context, the gym operates over three floors with a one way system, so once you’ve left reception you must circle the exit to speak to staff again, as there was no supervisor on the gym floor during the 12:30-13:30 session. I came back to reception to ask that the air conditioning be turned on - it’s 13th July and a sweaty environment so you’d expect it to be on. I resumed my workout, noticed no change and came back to ask and to ask why no supervisor was on the floor, meaning I had to circle round again. Turns out the staff member I’d asked had forgotten within that 10 minutes and asked his manager then, to which his manager checked and said simply, ‘it wasn’t turned on this morning’. I had to ask if it was on now, and he said I should notice a change in five minutes. I’m not expecting reams of apology here but a simple ‘Oh sorry, don’t worry it’s on now’ would have been nice for the fact I’ve had to ask twice, rather than assuming staff ineptitude is enough of a consolation. I finish off free weights and go down to the machine room. The sanitiser bottle is empty to the extent it will no longer spray, and we are advised to spray down every machine before and after use. This bottle is often empty and as there was no floor staff member to ask, it means circling back again through the whole building to get back to reception. After noticing brown, dusty looking finger marks on the converging chest press with no sanitiser to fix it, I simply got my bag, left and notified reception on the way out. All in all I expect more from a paid-for service in the middle of a global pandemic, to at least keep customers safe from COVID, nevermind injuring themselves on the machine without a staff member there to advise on usage. I’ll return to this gym as it’s close - probably armed with my own wipes/sanitiser - but please can you look at your processes and reevaluate your attitudes so that the hour, or however long, we take out of our day to attend the gym isn’t wasted or marred by poor staff attitude and behaviour
