Negative experience: This gym is a health hazard. It needs shutting down completely. nothing works. I went one day and the gym weights room was flooded also the pool always cold or dirty. and just to top it off the main weights room completely closed. this gym since this gym has changed its name and staff. It’s gone downhill. The tiles are broken in the changing area also the lockers and the shower never works Don’t waste your money. Go somewhere else. I cancelled my contract. Of all of the negative reviews not one staff will get back to you to explain because they can’t

Negative experience: This is the Fawlty Towers of gyms. Currently the pool is closed and the weights room is closed and the reception area has scaffolding in it. The place is literally falling apart and has about 20 pieces of equipment left. Was cheap at £20 but now price has gone up and hardly anything works.

Positive experience: Decent facilities/equipment considering the cost of membership is so low. Wouldn’t go near toilet or shower, they are filthy. I don’t like how they allow under 18’s in here. Yesterday there was 2 maybe 15 year old boys messing around on the treadmills, falling off them and not using them safely. No wonder equipment is mostly broken and out of order. Adults who genuinely want to work out were waiting in a queue to use the treadmills as there wasn’t enough for how many people were in there that evening. It was painful to watch 2 kids messing around equipment when people were waiting to use it properly

Negative experience: The swimming pool has been cold for months, many other issues too yet they still happy to take their direct debit Very poorly managed gym!!!

Fantastic experience: Good focused gym with swimming pool and sauna

Negative experience: Most backwards, poorly run gym in the area!! Number of classes have reduced massively. You can't book classes until exactly 7 days in advance (so a 9am Tuesday class, can't be booked until 9am the following week), therefore classes are started late because people are stood there on their phones booking for the following week. Even the staff don't have a clue how it works, and 'think' it's meant to be an hour before, but it's not. Yet those who have champion memberships (can use multiple gyms) can book all classes from midnight a week in advance??? The classes that have been put on are either during the day, or start early afternoon/5pm?? Don't wonder why your classes are half full when those who work during the day only have a handful of evening classes to choose from. The pool has been broken for months, and have now cancelled aqua for for the foreseeable. Along with a tiny, busy gym, and equipment poorly maintained, you get what you pay for! and if you're willing to go cheap, be prepared for a joke of a gym.

Negative experience: Current member. Cheap as chips. But awful time for fixing things. Sauna has been faulty for 6 weeks. Still not fixed properly. Broken tiles everywhere. Just spend some money on the building. Please.

Negative experience: The place has changed a lot, they have painted the walls black and it just makes the gym look dull, before it was okay as it was bright even though it did need a touch up. They have added new machines but has taken up a lot of space. That area was ideal for people to do their stretches. Now it feels like it’s cramped and no space to move around.

Fantastic experience: Love this little place staff are friendly loads off friendly faces.

Negative experience: Place changed management but remains in bad shape. Yes, they painted the walls and replaced cross fit machines, but the main equipment for waight lifting is broken for weeks! That's all you ger for raised membership price. Get it fixed if you want to charge more!

Negative experience: GOT TOLD MY DIRECT DEBIT IS CANCELLED!!!! THEY TOOK MY MONEY AND EVEN OVERCHARGED ME!!! DO NOT GO TO THAT GYM THEY ARE SO INCOMPETENT!!!

Negative experience: I took my 5 year old swimming at this branch and we had to leave early due to there being far too much chemicals in the water. My son was relentlessly coughing and my eyes were stinging uncontrollably.

Positive experience: Quite small, but alright equipment for the price. Been up and down the country to various gyms while on holiday and every one of them had a water fountain. This one... "COVID. You need to buy one from our shop." Absolutely bizarre.

Negative experience: Great potential but far from clean. The pool and steam need a deep clean. Most of the aerobic machines are broken and old. Free weights room is good but has 3 benches and probably over 300 members. Locker rooms are dated with dangerous broken tiles not repaired. The price is OK but that's hoping the hygiene and the water don't have long term affects. Staff are all nice though, can't fault them.

Negative experience: Very convenient and quiet but sadly an unclean swimming pool. You can feel the grit on the pool floor, and the walls of the pool seem to have gunk or algae sticking on it. Only been once and will not come back again.

Positive experience: Ive been going here for the better part of 2 years. I can say although some facilities may be inadequate to some, for the price it offers exceptional leisure and weight lifting opportunities. With a gym, pool, sauna, boiler room and changing room facilities, it will get the job done for a good price. The fact of the matter is that if you think the facilities are inadequate, there are much cleaner gyms at a much higher cost. Here you get what you pay for. (If not more in some aspects).

Negative experience: Friendly staff but equipment is nothing short of Shoddy! Broken and damaged gym equipment and with no signs of getting fixed! No drinking WATER!! I have never been to a gym with no water!! The pool and classes are good but I need the gym and this is what my review is based on! For the money, better of at pure gym with excellent equipment! Shame as I like the link cation and friendly users and staff, but poor gym equipment and poor lack of investment really let's this place down!

Positive experience: I'm only giving the gym 3xstars Its a little run down machines are rusty. How ever Neil and Shaun the personal trainers are amazing both so helpful and the gym wouldn't even function with out them they get 5 stars

Fantastic experience: Staff very polite , friendly and helpful. The gym itself is quite small, if you’re creative with your workouts and are just getting back into the gym after a while, this is great.

Negative experience: Avoid this place! Its dirty, rarely cleaned (you can go on a Sunday, see empty shower bottles in the changing room, go back a few days later and its still there! Grim). It also has limited capacity. If you ever try and go for a swim, it will be full of children. I am of the opinion that they have too many members for their capacity and they are offering cheaper prices for new joiners to try and cram more people in there. Avoid!

Fantastic experience: Met my fiance here so can't complain... Lol. This gym gave me gains at 6 am when it was the least busy! Avoid rush hour or you won't be able to use any machines. For £20 a month you can't complain too much!!

Negative experience: Changing rooms are filthy.. hair left on the floor for days . Mops that are left around the pool area are filthy and stink Pool area the same . I know I only pay £20.00 but would expect place to be ckeanee

Negative experience: Average gym. Gym equipment seems a bit old and rusty. Equipment needs some maintenance. Essential bike foot strap missing so cannot be used safely.

Fantastic experience: Sports Direct is a good gym, very reasonably priced and they have a nice swimming pool, sauna & steam room. Plenty of parking too ! Staff are friendly & helpful. Nice atmosphere.

Negative experience: Hmm. Just joined in April 23. Looks quite old. No water dispensers. We would expect a gym to have water fountains! So having to carry 2 bottles of water. They have 10 treadmills and only 6 work. So it gets stuffy. Very small gym room and you need to get used to the rush. Parking gets stuffy too. Everything is packed. Then the rates looks affordable and they have pool, steam etc. sticking to that practical life rather than having to drive miles ....l can give 2.5 stars if all treadmills all 10 treadmills work.. Update - I'm removing 1 star, keeping just one star because I cannot give 0....it has become more rubbish..the equipments have never been cleaned, they are full of dust. The hand sanitizer hasn't been filled for 3 weeks now. I informed the reception and I was told that they will keep cleaning products so the gym users can clean the equipment! DUH!! I am not talking about us wiping it down after use....the equipments are genuinely RUSTED and filled with dust in places we don't touch! Meaning they have never been cleaned ...stinks more everyday as you enter the corridor...the staff are so defensive and dont want to listen to even fair complaints! I got covid once and you might fall sick than get healthy in this gym ...still its about 5 mins walk for me ..20£ a month..less than a pound a day...got into a contract for 12 months...so sticking to it...

Positive experience: It offers great value for money. My choice of gym is very restricted as my primary requirement is for a swimming pool. This gym offers group classes that meet my needs at a very reasonable price. The facilities may not be as good and as salubrious as the big gym providers but I can’t get upset given what I’m paying. Also it provides the flexibility of a monthly contracts.

Negative experience: Dirty awful gym , mold everywhere, showers stinks. Exercise machines not working for 3 months and almost all have defects. Clients wearing dirty shoes inside noone care what's going on.

Positive experience: I am a new member and I'm getting what I paid for. Many of the machines don't work or don't work properly. Many of the members dont train but try to look menacing. There are thieves in the changing rooms. But I get a good workout and shower and sauna and swim for £20 a month on the way home. One very bad thing though. No water is available.

Positive experience: Overall this is an okay gym. You get what you pay for! £20 a month isnt bad, for the fact that you get free parking, access to a decent size pool, (which isnt that cold), sauna room, steam room and a cafe, with fairly decent food and drink. However...There is a serious lack of morale amongst the staff, and often a lot of staff members really dont look as though they enjoy being there, and quite often this is recriprocated through their customer etiquette and service. I have often been talked back to in quite an unprofessional manner and its not acceptable! Cleanliness in the gym isnt what it should be at all, and when some of the members that attend have a basic lack of respect when it comes to hygeine, the place becomes dirty very quickly. Since being a member of about half a year, I have only seen one member of staff cleaning the gym, which I think isnt at all great, considering we have had a pandemic not so long ago, and members expect the gym in all areas to be clean and and well maintained. The main gripe I have, is the attention to detail with the maintenance of the facilities, equipement repairs, and general quality of the weights and weight machines, not to mention the showers are in desperate need of attention, and possibly plumbing. A lot of the equipment is often out of order/broken and nornally left for a long period of time without being fixed.

Negative experience: Avoid Sports Direct Fitness. I was a customer for 10 years at the Croydon branch. I stayed this long as the fitness instructors they had done some great classes. But, on 1st July 2022, Sports Direct Fitness closed the Croydon branch without notice, sending an email at 5pm that day with a notice the gym was closing permanently. An email was sent thereafter offering the option to move to Epsom or accept a refund. I requested a refund as the manner in which they took members direct debit payment, knowing they were going to close that branch was a disgrace. Unfortunately, after 7 weeks, I've still not received my refund. The response to my emails are now slow, waiting up to 3-4 days for a reply and their last response was that I should contact my bank to see where my refund is. My bank confirmed no refund was issued by Sports Direct Fitness. Frankly, a disgraceful business; their staff at Croydon was also treated disgracefully as they too didn't receive any advance notice of the planned closure. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend joining a gym that treat their members and staff in this way.

Positive experience: V average - left because the vibe in the gym isn’t great, equipment is quite basic, and on a number of occasions, broken - cheap but you get what you pay for. Enjoyed the classes though.

Negative experience: I personatly not use the gym facility as usually use the pool. WhennI first sign up I was quiet happy with price quality as for the amount of money you pay monthly doing the yearly membership it is not bad. That was about 4month ago recebtly the quality of the facility went down a lot, facilities broken and out of service often and this month classes were reduce as we are in summer. Also there were 2 Hammock to seat at the pool and now they are gone. What I do not undertand is thaynthe payments are keep taking the same feom my bank account so why should I pay the same but received half of what I sign off for? Also I find staff very unprofesional and not really willing to help when you ask anything. I really hope facilities improve so I can change my review.

Positive experience: Was able to go swimming here without having a membership. It's a £10 fee for the day and you're able to use all the facilities. The only place in the area that offers this. Pool was a decent size and wasn't too busy when we went. Sauna and steam room were nice too

Negative experience: Staff are amazing. Too many member for the amount of equipment and space. Cleanliness is an issue. Gym needs updating. Equipment out of order and dated equipment. Facilities are small and crowded. Repairs are needed in a number of areas. They needed more equipment not a cafe. Waste of time. They need to put the jacuzzi back in. Staff are great but Facilities are a nightmare during peak. If you can only go after work you are wasting your time here. Staff are the only positive thing really.

Positive experience: Pros: Gym is good, large variety of weights, not much space, plenty of treadmills and bikes, soon the weights area will get bigger, staff friendly and helpful. Cons: people don't put their weights back which is very annoying, they just keep the machines busy while speaking on the phones, not many machines, none for calves, none for lower back (if you don't want to do weight lifting), needs more space. Hopefully all this will come with the new weights area.

Negative experience: Absolute scam and a con, staff clueless and now hounding my wife for extra money when she has called and emailed countless times to resolve the situation to be meet with no response to be told she needs to pay a fine absolute Croc. Don't recommend the added mental stress this is now causing.

Negative experience: If I could give -5 I would. Such scam. Staff absolutely clueless and unhelpful. Myself and my friend signed up for this gym. No one walked us through before we signed up so we couldn't see how dirty it really was. But by them we must give 3 months. My friend emailed however her cancellation wasn't processed for another 3 months making total of 6 months cancelation charges. And for myself I went to cancel early February and was told by member of staf that April will be the last month for me to pay. Only to be suprised that I must pay May too and now with additional cost. Gym is dirty. Hair in showers. Equipment don't get wiped down. Please don't use this gym. Pure gym, David Lloyds and The gym will offer you much better deals.

Negative experience: People don't wash before they get in the pool it's unhygienic. I've asked the management to put up signs,it's just a waste of time.

Positive experience: I have been a member now for 9 months, I have never had to wait or queue for any of the resistance equipment although the mat area for stretchs etc is sometimes busy not a bad selectjon of free weights. Personally would like longer opening hours at weekends or 24hr access to the gym as a lot of newer gyms have.which would help those of us who have to work far away so struggle to get back in time for a good workout. I think the club is value for money, as I paid £60 a month for my last Gym. The staff here are mostly helpful and happy and friendly and easy to approach.

Positive experience: Taking into account the many facilities available such as swimming, the gym etc, this gym is good for the price. However the gym is too small, with everyone being cramped into a tiny area - This is the same for the pool (which have a family time welcome for children) however for the family time it has to be a set day at a set time, and is rammed with very young, screaming children. Would be great to allow the normal swimming sessions for older children, under parental guidance, as children want to be healthy and active too. However very nice and welcoming staff, and clean facilities.
