Fantastic experience: Very friendly. I have been looking to get in shape and become more healthy so I hired one of thier personal trainers Daniel Ambrosino to help create a plan for me. I can't reccomend him enough. He has helped with everything from diet, fitness and mental things that could be changed to help move me towards a happier lifestyle. Im 6 sessions in and my body already feels 10 times better.

Negative experience: I can get an okay workout in although the equipment is breaking. Dip machine is broken and has been for over a year. Leg extension machine broke before Christmas and is still broken (that is a popular machine!) cable machine cannot be adjusted since the toggle broke (can be repaired easily). The cable attachment hooks have come out of the wall. Will have to leave if it doesn’t get fixed as it’s a waste of money . Staff are lovely though!

Negative experience: Stay away at all costs. Equipment is not maintained and is falling apart. Tricep dip machine has been broken over a year. Leg extension broken for over 3 months. Cable machines falling apart and can’t be altered. Dumbbells break and replaced with cheap alternatives. No reassurance is provided as when the equipment will be repaired. Club has rapidly declined over the last 12 months.

Negative experience: In theory a good gym but unfortunately it is not being maintained by the owners. Equipment and weights have been broken for weeks or even months without any repair. Suffers from constant change in management and staffing. At least the current staff seem a lot better than the previous useless incumbents.

Negative experience: RUDE STAFF AND TAKING MONEY AFTER YOU CANCEL!!! I don’t really write reviews but I need to say I would not recommend this gym to my worst enemy. After warnings from a colleague about Macclesfield Anytime Fitness, I joined due to the convenience of the location. I was a member of this gym for nearly 2 years. Every staff member was a temporary filler between college and uni, and I found them one after one to be untrained and unapproachable. Following the unexpected monthly price increase, I left AF giving written notice. I then promptly received an email back saying my membership ended instantaneously, although I had already paid for that month. Upon countless phone calls and emails with a man named Martyn, who couldn’t show less care towards customer satisfaction, I managed to retain my remaining paid access to the gym. The month following this, Anytime Fitness took another payment from my bank. Martyn then assured me I would receive a refund within 2-3 working days. After a week of no refund, I followed this up and was now informed they apparently send the refunds on the 15th of each month. It has now been 5 weeks since AF took my money. There is no way of contacting the head office so today I reverted to unfortunately ringing Martyn again. Another gentleman answered and between transferring me, he forgot to mute and they perceived to moan about me calling. Martyn was was utterly dismissive and rude and just repeated ‘it’s with the head office’ to every question I asked. He just doesn’t care and he’s not afraid to show it - there is obviously no hierarchy evaluating performance or customer satisfaction. You really need to avoid this place and go to the other gyms in Macclesfield.. which I can confirm are much easier to deal with and don’t steal your money.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant gym! I’ve not been able to go last few weeks due to an injury but I’ll be back for my first workout tomorrow morning! Hopefully it’s not busy. Staff are absolutely amazing and helpful, I’ll be with Sean (PT) on Thursday to learn some new workouts which I’m aiming to improve in my gym training routine.

Negative experience: Would not recommend to anyone. I signed up last year, a month in I had staff making jokes about how I was working out considering I hadn't been there for a couple of years I found it absolutely shocking and a massive confidence knock. Before unforeseeable circumstances where I was left unable to walk let alone work I was only there a month and which I was told my membership was frozen, for which they still took the full payments out of my account. I am then threatened with bailiffs and have no way of paying or even working to pay it off. I find this service absolutely disgusting and appalling and I would seriously not recommend signing up with anytime fitness!!!

Negative experience: Do not recommend! Certain staff is very rude!!! Before I joined I called the gym and the manger Chavez picked up the phone and he seems friendly and helpful. So later I signed up for the gym. Before I went to pick up the key, I phoned the gym to ask if the £30 fee for the key is refundable, this time it’s a woman picked up the phone, not sure who is she but her attitude is absolutely horrible. She spoke in a cold tone and said it’s not refundable. So I said ‘ok as I’m still in the 14-day cooling off period and haven’t used any of the gym services, I’ll think about if it’s suitable for me’. And then she said ‘No it’s not suitable for you.’ in a cold voice. I thought I heard it wrong so I said ‘sorry??’, and she repeated in a cold voice ‘No it’s not suitable for you.’ Like what is wrong with this person?? I have never come across a person as rude as her. Whoever this person is, If you hate your job so much I suggest you quit working at a client-facing role. You do not treat your customers like this.

Negative experience: This is the worst gym to be in and I wouldn't recommend it at all. Initially when I joined, no one explained to me about the terms and conditions of the contract. 12 yearly contract was a lot cheaper and no one told me about it. We should give them a notice period of 1 month prior to ending the contract and no one explained. I also told them that I will be moving places after 6 months , the staff told that you can cancel it anytime you want and that's not a issue. Later , when I asked them to cancel my subscription, all these new rules came up which they haven't told me earlier. Because of the incompetence of the staff in explaining clearly the terms and conditions of the contract, I lost almost around 200 pounds. Please be aware if you are joining this gym
Hi Ramya, apologies for the experience you've had. The contract that all members sign does clearly state it is a 12 month contract and we require 1 calendar month notice for cancellations. Negative experience: UPDATE: - FROM 3 STARS TO 1 STAR Hi, I am at this gym member almost 2 years , the reason I use it because is 24h , close to center of macclesfield , even doesn't not have full equipment you are able to still do a good workout however in last 6 months not anymore. The equipment none functional for over 6 months upstairs, when I have legs day I can't complete it properly. I try alternative exercises but is not the same. Downstairs the pull up bar multifunction with help is not working, only half , the help I should have to be able to do pulls is broken over a years. The punch boxing bag is ripped off, after 3 - 4 punch the material starts to come out from inside off the bag. I am correct person, I don't say is the manager or people who work there fault , but is not ok , and if we want to leave according the contract we should still give notice a month which according the contract you need to do that, however the equipment is not working so I am forced to stay in a gym which i cannot do my workout properly anymore. So for the money I paid for last month I can't take the experience of doing my workouts because the equipment is broken. I want to mention as cleaning bathrooms and toilet is clean, ok. The equipment is all over place, but that is member Fault too. I did give review the gym before which was better and correct one from my point and before I was not having a problem to refer a friends or to someone else. , however now till the problem are not resolved I don't advise you to make a contract at the moment. The reason I give 1 star is because the equipment and I need to pay one more month even I can't use the equipment being broken.

Negative experience: Definitely wouldn't recommend due to multiple issues, when I signed up I was asked if I wanted to be shown how the machines work so I said yes as I was a first timer but it never happened, luckily my friend who signed up with me knew what he was doing so he showed me. I've not been for a while but it was fine as a gym when I went there except my friends that still go have said it's gone really bad, machines in disrepair, rubber handles worn away, the thing that adjusts the weight on some machines broke and hard to pull out to adjust the lifting weight etc. I tried to cancel my membership due to health reasons, in 12 months I've been 3 times but I just can't do it anymore so I tried to cancel my membership, they wouldn't let me do it even though I'd been a member for about 18 months or maybe more. I cancelled my direct debit as they didn't respond to my member cancellation request and now I'm getting harassing messages every couple of days and they keep adding £12 on to my bill so I'm going to be seeking legal advice because due to them not doing their jobs properly it could now put me in financial trouble. They admitted they'd made a mistake but are still trying to charge me so do yourselves a favour and go somewhere else, that new place near mcdonalds is about half the price and sounds better so without even going myself I'd recommend there first.

Negative experience: Beware, often very dirty hence I don't use the on-site facilities anymore, just the gym despite paying for these. Try and leave, and they will ultimately not owner there side of the agreement but expect for you continue your contract. Can't wait to give my notice, and happy to pay more as long as clean and hygienic. Beware!!!!

The entire gym including gym floor, toilets and equipment is cleaned on a daily basis and we don't recieve alot of negative feedback from members in regards to cleanliness but if we have missed something please let us know.

Positive experience: On starting with Anytime Fitness in 2020 I started with a friend, we were super nervous but the atmosphere of the gym and staff was so nice it soon settled the nerves. My friend stopped coming to the gym but I was enjoying the fitness, I didn't think I could go alone but before long I was a regular at the classes and not conscious when going to the gym alone. The staff are super at helping and supporting you and are just as proud when you accomplish something as you are yourself. The gym is always clean and even when it's been busy, I e been able to complete my workouts. Safe to say after a few weeks off I cannot wait to get back to it ☺️

Fantastic experience: When me and my sister first started at anytime we were super nervous, uncomfortable and really had no idea what we were doing. We’d come late at night go on a couple of things and leave, now thanks to Katie’s free weights class (which is part of the membership) we now know how to do loads of exercises and how to train on specific areas of our body and have found a love for going to the gym. Everyone especially the staff are extremely welcoming and helpful and have now completely changed our mindsets on how we used to feel for the better. The pricing is very reasonable for how much equipment and classes included within the membership that there are and also for the support from the staff with little this such as them doing a fitness program to follow which are also include within the membership. If that’s not good enough to top it off you have the freedom of going anytime ;) CHAVEZ IS THE BEST TOO

Negative experience: Words can't explain how sick of the hassle I am from this gym. I went for a day pass in October 2021, and I have received so much communication from them saying I am a member and I haven't paid my direct debit for months on end. I NEVER JOINED AFTER MY DAY PASS (so glad I didn't) AND NEVER WILL I have received numerous emails and texts threatening debt collectors etc. since I spoke to the manager yesterday. How has this happened? The manager says there has been some mistake and my details have been used to set another persons membership up who joined (GDPR). What a mess! Avoid this gym, read all the other reviews about payment related issues.

Fantastic experience: When I first joined anytime fitness Macclesfield I had no idea what I was doing and if I was even doing it right! The help of the staff and the free classes has helped me out big time. The staff are very friendly and welcoming to everyone! They have helped me build my confidence and body image which I have struggled with for years! It is a very clean and organised gym, weights aren’t just laying around and equipment is sanitised. It is open 24hrs as well so you can still workout regardless of the time! I couldn’t recommend joining this gym anymore.

Positive experience: Before becoming a member of staff here at Anytime Fitness I was a member for over a year. Absolutely love training in the gym, very spacious and clean. Nice and quiet most of the time too. Everyone is very polite and supportive too!!

Positive experience: Gym itself is good, well equipped and laid out which makes it easy and pleasant to train. Couple of power racks, smith machine, 5 station cable crossover, couple of plate loaded chest/shoulder machine, preacher bench and back extension downstairs. Upstairs cardio equipment and good Precor weight machines plus good functional equipment and a Queenax rig. Being the only 24 hour gym locally is a massive bonus. However it’s let down by a significant number of stunningly selfish members who leave weights on bars/machines and all over the floor, as well as just discarding bottles, packaging and anything else on the floors of the gym, changing rooms and showers. Very limited number of classes if you’re into that kind of thing, which should be countered by the on-demand studio system if it ever works.

Fantastic experience: You get a free trial to use the gym to see if you like it and also a free Personal Trainer session. Gym is clean and has enough equipment, never too crowded. Machines are also modernised so you can log on to your Netflix etc to watch your shows while you exercise.

Negative experience: Moved away from the area, where I could no longer use the gym anymore following club guidelines this allows termination of the contract and no more payments to be taken out . They ‘cancelled’ my contract , but still wanted another months payment which I understood to be the final one . But they have still continually taken money from my account . Apparently they cannot give refunds as they don’t have the staff to do so , now £90 has now been lost . For a student this is a lot of money and a disgrace that a company thinks this is a legitimate way to run a business. Run for the hills if you want to join for a short period as you will be charged forever it would seem .

Negative experience: Like a lot of others on here had a nightmare with them when I moved out of the area and had to cancel my membership. Been with them over a year cancelled in July and now in September getting overdue notices and late fees. Facilities are average and the toilets are always a mess the contract is a stitch up that they will always find a way of charging you and charging you again. Avoid avoid
Firstly, I am very sorry that you are disappointed in the club and you have left feeling negatively towards Anytime Fitness Macclesfield. This is definitely not how we wish our members to leave us feeling. I have had a look into you account and can see that the reason you received overdue notices in September is because your August payment bounced and you were in arrears for the month. This payment was your final payment inline with the 1 month notice period. As your notice was given in July, August's payment was owed. Again, I am very sorry that you have parted with us and I would like to wish you all the best with your future health and fitness journey. Negative experience: Really disappointed with anytime fitness. I have been a member since they opened at Macclesfield. Moved to Edinburgh well over an hour away from the anytime fitness there so cancelled my membership with over 30 days notice. Even had email confirmation for this but they charged my partner and I anyway. And are now refusing to refund us. We have already moved so cannot use the gym in August. Completely unacceptable and do not recommend. Interesting reading other bad reviews too. **response to reply below** Hi Beth, many thanks for the response. I let anytime fitness know on June 19th (so this would be 42 days notice). This is why we are upset. We completely understood the 30 day policy and this is the entire reason for our disappointing, as you are not following your own policy. Thank you, Amanda
Hi Amanda, First and foremost, I am very sorry that you have parted with Anytime Fitness Macclesfield with a feeling of disappointment. This is certainly not how we wish for any of our members or ex-members to feel! We completely understand your frustration towards the 1 month final payment. When out of your contract, we require 1 months' notice to terminate the account, meaning a payment at the beginning of the calendar month is due. That final payment will cover you for the entire month and you have use of all Anytime Fitness' worldwide with your keyfob. Negative experience: I had a complaint over extra charges taken from my account, never got a response. Cancelled my direct debit.....phoned within 24 hours! Then told it's my fault for not reading emails!!!!!. Appauling customer service. Not the fault of the guys who work there they are great. But Anytime fitness are appalling. Update 9th September......still being chased to set up a direct debit!!!! Its appalling. Avoid avoid aviod

Negative experience: Avoid joining this gym at all costs They make it as difficult as possible for you to leave the gym even when your contract rolls over after 12 months and you want to cancel.. You have to physically go in the gym and sign a form... Also I switched my bank account over which meant the last month's payment didn't go out.. After realising this 17 days later I called up to pay the remaining balance to be told I've been charged £12 late payment fee because I didn't pay the balance within 14 days.. Then to be told they will send it to the debt collectors if I don't pay the fee... Plenty of better gyms around macclesfield AVOID. After not being with them for 5 months and they have now billed me £30 for no reason Theiving scumbags

Negative experience: Do not under any circumstances sign onto anytime fitness contract without reading through the contract. My wife was invited to have a look around the gym in Macclesfield which I was with her. After some time having a look around my wife was unsure. Anytime staff member (Mike) sat us down and explained the deals on offer. My wife was still unsure if she would use the gym, so Mike said not to worry you've got a 14 day cooling off period. You can use the gym as much as you like and if you don't like it you can leave. My wife went twice within the 14 days and decided to cancel on the last day. When she went in to cancel she was told she couldn't as she'd used the gym in the 14 days and was now contracted for 12 months. They have denied to have said anything of the sort (even though I was in the bloody room!) And are refusing to cancel the membership. There is no way of getting hold of any head office as they dont deal with customers. I will my do best to warn others about this place, as I dont think it's for the people it's for the contracts.
Good morning, Dan, I am very sorry that you feel this way towards the club and the membership taken out by your wife. I can appreciate your frustrations. Your wife was made aware of 14 day cooling off period, which is detailed within the contract. The contract that was signed by your wife in-club upon sign up. The clause clearly states that if a membership is used within the cooling off period, the period is voided. Your wife’s membership was used several times within her first 2 weeks and so her cancellation request has been declined in-line with the contract that has been signed by both parties. I can appreciate that you both are frustrated with this situation, however we as a branch are upholding the signed legal contract and the correct cancellation procedures. I have offered your wife the opportunity to swap names on the membership if she wishes to give it to someone who may make use of the account. Negative experience: The most unprofessional gym I’ve ever been in contact with! I cancelled my membership and then due to an error on their behalf my membership wasn't cancelled. They took an extra 2 months membership fee off me after this so I cancelled my direct debit with my bank to ensure no further payments were taken without my consent. I was what can only be described as harrased about my account being in arrears and I had to make payment ASAP otherwise the club would take further action. So I once again contacted the gym in order to ensure this issue was resolved. I spoke with the manager who assured me this was being looked at as a matter of urgency, my membership had been cancelled properly and no further payments would be taken. Anytime Fitness then re-instated my direct debit without my consent and took payment for 2 more months. I have now been trying to leave this club since October and been trying to get my money back for 6 weeks. I would not recommend using this gym as they make it impossible to leave and charge you for the pleasure of it!
We apologise for this error, thankfully this is now rectified. Any issues please call the club and we can get anything sorted for you straight away.

Negative experience: I did like this gym for its ease of use and clean facility. But Found out im on the wrong tariff and been paying £12 a month more than i should. After speaking to 2 members of staff, one who alerted me to the initial problem. Im still paying £36.95 despite referring other members to their gym also. Sloppy customer care

Negative experience: Usual rip-off gym that doesn't care whether the people that it pressures to sign-up for memberships actually are using their services. My daughter made one initial visit, got pressured to sign up and hasn't been back since. They've had over £300 for that one visit but still won't terminate the contract early. Shame on them.

Negative experience: Never again! Wouldn't recommend to anyone sane!
Negative experience: The new administration has removed from the shower / toilets,the loo brushes,pedal bins and the small tables. The story being ,new ones have been ordered ,that was five days ago. Still no loo brushes! Now it seems you have to supply your own loo paper!!!

Negative experience: Bad experience. The gym not bad. The manager horrendous refusing to let me go even after 12 month's after being busy at work being I'll and waiting for an operation. I could not go to sign a form she refused to send me one via email and even though I gave her over a month's notice is now charging me 3 month's. Ironicly eventually emailing me the form even though she refused.They must be desperate for members. A bad experience. Don't recommend it. Avoid!
