Our comment from FitFit UK about Tudor Grange Leisure Centre:

Tudor Grange Leisure Centre in Solihull offers a mix of experiences, showcasing both strengths and areas for improvement. Many users appreciate the extensive facilities, including a well-equipped gym with brand new machines and a friendly atmosphere. The swimming lessons and fitness classes, particularly for children, are frequently praised for their quality and the effectiveness of instructors like Katy, who is noted for her nurturing approach.

Key Highlights:

  • Large gym area with modern equipment and helpful staff.
  • Variety of enjoyable fitness classes available.
  • Positive feedback on swimming facilities and lessons.
  • Family-friendly environment with good community involvement.

However, cleanliness and maintenance have been significant concerns. Multiple reviews highlight issues with hygiene, with reports of dirty changing rooms and unpleasant odors in the pool area. The reception service has also received criticism; users reported long wait times and unhelpful staff during peak hours, leading to frustrating experiences.

Areas for Improvement:

  • Enhanced cleanliness in changing areas and poolside.
  • Improved customer service, especially at the reception desk.
  • Better management of swimming lessons to ensure productive sessions for children.

Overall, while Tudor Grange Leisure Centre has potential with its facilities and positive staff interactions, addressing these issues could significantly enhance the overall user experience.

Tudor Grange Leisure Centre: Opinions

2.9/5 (200 Opinions)

Negative experience: For the amount charged it's a reasonable leisure centre. But regularly used areas and equipment are looking tired, often dirty and in need of renovations. Not helped by large groups of parents just walking around the changing rooms and pool in their outdoor shoes. Overshoes were removed on environmental grounds but the accessible flooring means that anyone can get poolside without getting their feet wet. Gym gets very busy in afternoon and early evenings. Upstairs changing rooms need more regular cleaning. Sports hall lacks ventilation.

Negative experience: Absolutely dirty. Used this gym 15 years ago and it so unclean. So I left. Used Today thinking it would be better. Used swimming pool and smelt urine whilist swimming. Skin itches constantly. Really bad 0 hygiene here.

Angela Bennett 8 months ago

Negative experience: I used to be a member but stopped because the place is filthy. It smells of wee the pool is freezing and nobody wants to do anything about it

Sylvia Kalinyina 8 months ago

Positive experience: Very disappointed with today’s swimming lesson at Tudor Grange. Instead of a proper 30-minute lesson, the children spent around 10 minutes just jumping into the pool. Between each jump, there was a two-minute chat, making the whole session feel unproductive. The instructor seemed more focused on checking the time than actually engaging with the children. To make matters worse, the kids were standing around in the cold when they weren’t in the water, which was completely unnecessary. As a result, my child has now fallen ill, which could have been avoided with better lesson management. It was a real shame that Alan wasn’t there today—his lessons are always well-structured and effective.

Fantastic experience: Just went for induction this morning the gym is all brand new equipment it's a large area good equipment and helpful staff. Nice place

Negative experience: Came for a trial day pass and I’m not happy with the way it’s been run . The lady on the desk did not help me as it was my first time they were very rude. It was unclean and dirty through out the Center. Will not be paying my membership will try another centre.

Positive experience: I started having swimming lessons here two months ago. The instructors are good and helpful. The facilities in general are not the best. Many changing rooms don't have a lock. It's a challenge to find one that can actually be locked. The staff is not helpful. You can wait for ages at the reception until someone starts talking to you, even though they are sitting in front of you. There's a christmas break now with no classes for two weeks and it was never mentioned anywhere. Not even in the centre or at the reception unless you ask. They said I should have received an email and an app notification in the app or checked their social media. I haven't received anything but get their marketing emails every time.

Negative experience: Non existent customer service with no formal complaints procedure other than submitting a query through their website. Complaints are then ignored unless you proactively chase them, after which management drag them out for as long as possible and fail to address points raised. Management refuse to escalate complaints further when advised their response is insufficient. Possibly the worst company I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Not surprisingly if you submit a query online to become a member, they will call you back instantly. If you're calling the main number for the leisure centre, it will just ring out.

Positive experience: The fitness classes are fantastic, I attend the body balance, body pump, body combat and circuits and sometimes spinning. The coaches are very motivating. The cleaning staff is always present but it is only one or two ladies. The gym at the top floor has many machines but you can’t log to any of them anymore with the Technogym application. Makes me wonder if there is still the partnership with Technogym machines…You can still use them but not make full use of your subscription…

Fantastic experience: I had a very enjoyable swim at Tudor Grange leisure centre in Solhull booking through my everyone active membership. The booking process at the desk was straight forward . I like the update to the showers poolside and the lane swimming was comfortable as not over crowded . I would recommend this leisure activity to keep healthy and active in your retirement

DD 1 year ago

Negative experience: The activities are good value of money include swimming lesson , football and etc. but the cleanness and hygiene are quite bad. Lack of cleaning every where. Lot of people have outside shoes when they are in the pool area or changing area. No staff doing anything to stop , you know why? Even staff themselves wearing outside shoes in the same area. What a joke. Really poor management. Maybe they only busy with calling people to buy membership but no one, really on one care about the facilities

Positive experience: Cafe too pricey but otherwise good

Rebecca Dillon 1 year ago

Positive experience: Visted today (Saturday) as my son had booked a badminton court. Greeted by a miserable staff member on reception who told me that he had an issue and there were bouncy castles all over the court that he might not be able to clear because he had a bad back and the manager had unhelpfully deserted the place. Went to the cafe to get a drink to buy some time, we waited for another customer to be served takeaway coffees and at 3.45 were told we couldn’t have a takeaway smoothie because the server had to ‘clean up’ before closing. We asked what time the cafe closed she told us 3.30. On the website the cafe closes at 4. Surely it should be serving until then? Had been thinking of joining but the service today had completely out me off. Not sure why lifeguards are walking poolside in big black trainers-surely flip flops are more appropriate? Badminton court dirty and smelly when we did get in there.

Positive experience: Very good! I do like the way the staff have timed control on customers pool use and observing that unsocial behaviour is not tolerated.

Philip Reed 1 year ago

Positive experience: Nice pool, good value and reasonably well run too. The changing room floors are grim though and need more regular cleaning.

Safiyah 1 year ago

Positive experience: Wonderful pool, very family friendly. Cleanliness was up to scratch in all areas that I visited. However, there was a very long wait to speak to someone at reception, as it was left unmanned.. The lifeguard I spoke to, Isaac, was very friendly and gave clear instructions about how the new locker system works!

Mimi Blue 1 year ago

Negative experience: The gym is far too small and busy. There’s only one bench press and one lat pulldown available. It’s a real stress to do ur workout and ur always waiting even in off peak times

Laxma 1 year ago

Negative experience: Worst customer service - thanks to Everyone Active. Though the center is maintained at an acceptable level, the staff does not have a clue on how Everyone Active charges and will come up with their own vague, irresponsible, demeaning answers. When you raise a online query-please be ready for not receiving any response. If you wish to cancel membership, be ready to pay a months fee extra as your membership will be removed in advance, though they debit your account for an extra month and staff is clueless. Everyone Active - is a clear no no - worst direct service and online response as well.

Negative experience: You charge £65 per hour for Astro turf pitch hire and have strict instructions about wearing the current footwear etc to preserve the pitch but then there are kids on there whizzing around freely on electric scooters and mountain bikes just generally dossing about on there when we turn up - how can you justify this?

Bilal Arshad 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Joined only a few days ago but extremely impressed with the great service. Credit to Kai (manager) who went above and beyond to facilitate

Cee Bass 1 year ago

Positive experience: The leisure centre itself is okay, although staff attitude varies greatly, and good luck getting through to them on the phone. Main issue is the car park. The ticket machines almost never work properly, so watch out for this. One of the machines puts the wrong time on your ticket, so your "free" three hours shows as zero hours.

Maurya Paul 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Amazing place. The gym has Simpsons playing on the TV. Name any other gym where U can rest after a hard set while watching nostalgia inducing TV shows. Also there is an amazing receptionist who works. She does such a good job and imo she deserves a doubling of her pay.

Laura Morris 1 year ago

Positive experience: Both my daughters attend swimming lessons here and they are great! Special shout out to Katy who is the absolute BEST swim teacher! She strikes the right balance between being firm with the younger ones so they don't mess around but extremely nurturing to those who need extra support. Katy gives equal attention and encouragement to all her students too. Tudor Grange is only let down by the smell of urine in the changing rooms!

Fantastic experience: I've been a TG gym member for over 20 years and always found the staff extremely friendly and helpful which was so apparent when I had a medical incident in the gym last week. Without doubt the urgent, first class attention I received initially from Ali (Seal Training) then Charlie, the gym manager, and Kai prevented my problem from being significant. Their care and concern was exemplary all the time until I was able to go home, I'm sure they went above and beyond what they needed to do. Charlie and Kai are a credit to Tudor Grange Leisure and Everyone Active, thank you for all your help.

Fantastic experience: I wanted to express my gratitude to the 2 lifeguards who assisted me when my perscription goggles broke today (10.15am 14.6.24). I have visual impairments and struggle to see anything without strong glasses, so my perscription goggles are essential when I go swimming. They managed to fix them for me and were so helpful and considerate. I really appreciated it.

Fantastic experience: Lovely facilities!! A young man called Lohit who works in the gym is so helpful and polite he has really motivated me to come to the gym more often and keeps the gym so clean. He is really an asset to this company. Lifeguards are also a lovely bunch and deserve more credit.

Negative experience: Place is filthy. I’m sure the floor hasn’t been cleaned for weeks, smells of p*as everywhere and the water is always freezing. If virgin and David Lloyds wasn’t so expensive I’d never come back Update, the floors still haven’t been cleaned and you not get charged if you cancel a booking, been charged £14 because I cancelled 3 hours before a lane swim?! And the floors looks like this, it’s disgusting

Christopher Dalton 1 year ago

Negative experience: Gym's great but watch the car park!! Warden is unforgiving and must be on a bonus as he walks round the car park for his whole duty! You do get 3 hours free (which goes really fast when you do gym, sauna/spa & steam & a coffee to finish with) but you have to make sure that you display the ticket correctly and you don't go over you 3hrs at all or you will get a penalty and, you will struggle to get it overturned, nice tax on the motorists again and a great way for the council to make some money off you!

Negative experience: Dirty and smelly , staff often walk around pool area in outdoor shoes .. I attend because it’s cheap and locals

Jegor Popovkin 1 year ago

Negative experience: People can walk to the swimming pool area and shower rooms in their street shoes and nobody even cares. It can contaminate the water for other swimmers and make the overall environment unpleasant . It seems like there is no enforcement of rules at all.

Negative experience: Don’t book the Astro to play football, even though over £200 was spent they refused to give us the goals. Two hours wasted with a lot of upset parents and children. No communication, no effort to reconcile the situation, they just weren’t bothered.

James Harris 1 year ago

Negative experience: We booked the 4g football pitch due to the bad weather for our cwyfl game to find the goals were padlocked. Despite asking the manager to unlock these we were told this not possible due to health and safety. Football without goals. Embarrassing

Negative experience: I have been trying to register with doc spot at this gym for 3 weeks. Had no luck with numerous phone calls so went in person. I was told that someone will call me in about a week. After 10 days I telephoned again with no answer so left a message for a call back. That was last week and still no response. I only have 3 days left to register. I'm going again today to hopefully sort it out. Look out for my next review for an update. I think it's disappointing that with a medical referral that the management have shown no regard for it's potential clients well being.

Richard Parry 1 year ago

Negative experience: Yet another centre that can't be bothered to answer the phone, tried over 20 times to phone them. Not all the info you require is on their website, so absolutely no way of contacting them. Absolute disgrace. Avoid.

Negative experience: Me and my sisters felt attacked in this placed. My sister fatima wanted to swim with her hijab on but we weren't allowed to and we had a booking which magically wasn't there when we went to swim. Overall very disappointed.

Negative experience: Stay away!!! After 15min in a queue and problems to log in at the desk I have been pointed to sales desk upstairs Sales manager ignored our concerns and informed us that we are not paying enough to use swimming pool. We have signed up online and been paying £29.99 followed bo constant price increase up to £35!!! My closest gym is North Solihull Centre so apparently I am assigned to it. And have to pay extra to use other gyms like Tudor Grange even though I was told I can use North Solihull, Tudor Grange and Nuneaton facilities in one price. Absolute no respect to customers and no willingness to resolve our issue. Sunday morning wasted

Agata Giec 1 year ago

Negative experience: Terrible customer service. Treat you like you're nobody. They change the terms of the membership, and prices and you'll see no communication! Wasted whole morning because of them their lack of professionalism. Sales manager wouldn't even let me speak and kept interrupting me mid sentence and started talking with someone else.

Negative experience: Twice this week booked aqua classes that haven't happened. Tuesday I received a phone call 90 minutes before the class to say it was cancelled, no instructor. I telephone today just after 9a.m. to be told class today was on but starting 15minutes late. After 40 minutes waiting in the pool, no instructor or apology. Some members had been told that an instructor was on their way but running late but no one arrived .

Negative experience: Yesterday, my thumb bled after turning locker key in the swimming pool. Lots of keys are without strap. A shower always has cold water. Another shower can't stop showering. Lots of thing needs repairs but all these seems unattended for long time.

Negative experience: Worst Gym in Solihull by a country Mile. Manager who replaced Nick doesn’t know what he’s doing! Prices have gone up but gym quality has declined. Sacked most the staff to save money and water refil station is broken needs repairing, no music in the gym, unhygienic shower rooms as not cleaned frequently and manager opened admitted the AC has been switched off due to ‘savings costs’. Negative experience: I went to sort out my membership, unfortunately at this time I'm on universal credit, and because there wasn't an option (on the application form) to show my situation I had to be there in person. When I've mentioned the UC and the large discount (that was on the info with the application), the 'sell manager' looked at me like he was discussed. There were 2 people wanting just behind me, and i felt so embarrassed when he started to repeat what I just said about the discount and how I'm wrong about that because is a different price. Bifor I've left I've mentioned that the information needs an update and that I can't afford at this time. I was so disappointed, in the way home I had the impression that I would pass out. I've walked from my home to the leasure centre it took me 45 min one way, just to save money. Money is very tight but mange to buy pair of trainers bifor I've entered the leasure centre today, £34,00. I'm not completely deflated about working out, but the lease centre will have to wait for my resources to 'circle back'. You will probably say "go for a run" and all is good if I'll be younger, at 64 I need to be a little caution. Thank you.

Negative experience: The filthiest place I have ever had the misfortune to visit. This place is an utter disgrace and a serious health hazard. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Hannah Jones 2 years ago

Negative experience: It’s great for swimming lessons but the management of reception is appalling. There is regularly no one on reception and long queues of people waiting. Particularly on a Saturday when all of the swimming lessons are taking place. When you do get to see someone they’re too busy messing about with their colleagues to take your enquiry seriously or listen properly to what you’re saying. It is surprising and a shame because it’s such a busy leisure centre, it could be a real success.

D K 2 years ago

Negative experience: You need more than one person at reception - I’ve been waiting for 15 mins and when I when the team leader spoke to me he was so rude like the swimming instructor. I’ve also called the swimming baths a few times and they never answer. They don’t even deserve one star as the floor by the swimming pool and changing area is full of hair and dirt.

Lucy Edgar 2 years ago

Negative experience: If I could put 0 as a rating I would. Be warned there is a personal trainer who rents the gym who is a con artist he will sweet you up and rip you off by not turning up for your lessons and then not refunding you your money I cannot say his name but his initial is L. The other PT's that work for Tudor Grange are fine just not him don't trust him AVOID AVOID AVOID

Negative experience: I went in to have a look around to see what the facilities were and get a feel for the place. Well if the staff had been more interested in the customer I might have considered it. I would suggested that the staff be given an input in customer care but it was actually the duty manager that completely ignored us ! Needless to say I will be going to Bannatyne after all.

Negative experience: It's gone absolutely rubbish now ever since it became everyone active. You try calling them you'll be waiting for ages. Couple of occasions i waited over twenty minutes then i hung up. The website is complicated and you can't book swimming and sauna together like before

Tony Baxter 2 years ago

Negative experience: Very disappointed its no longer a full public swimming pool. It's only fully public at weekends. So not worth using in the week unless you book a private/public swimming lesson. So in school holidays check out other swimming pools for kids as there are better pools in the area with lots of activities included, wave machines water slides etc. Staff were friendly and polite but in as much as to state that it wasn't a public baths unless your taking lessons.

Abdulhadi Malik 2 years ago

Negative experience: terrible staff, rude for literally no reason. me n my buddys just wanna see the pool as it was hot n we wanted to swim and as we followed alot of the other public in just to see the pool n its appearance, cleanliness etc, a guy named dylan quite literally tells us to “get out”. doesnt even ask if he can help us or not but js tells us to get out. it wouldve been understandable if he kindly explained why n asked us to leave w respect instead of treating us like that

Alan Handyman 2 years ago

Negative experience: You get what you pay for here. Gym and pool average for a a budget gym. As for the cleanliness of the place that’s defiantly below standard. Men’s changing room & showers not cleaned this week and smell! Probably Will reply with a statement that they are cleaned daily…..pictures don’t lie.

Negative experience: If I could put zero I would!! Put multiple students in danger just to make sure they are not losing out. No one has a clue between them what is going on, it’s as if conversations aren’t had. Had serious concerns and was told it was pointless contacting the person needed as they wouldn’t read the email. As a concerned parent that’s all I needed to hear! Management are useless when spoken to and the blame seems to be pushed around in circles no one takes accountability! Would avoid if you value your child’s life!

becky steward 2 years ago

Negative experience: I wouldn’t even put 1 star if it was an option. Came as an alternative to our usual… no body on the desk to greet or acknowledge bear in mind never been before so a couple of directions would’ve been most helpful but no not here. The staff we did actually come across are RUDE and can’t come to terms with actually speaking to you just want to point the finger to this and that, not to mention the hypocrisy about ‘no outdoor shoes’ says the girl in the beige crocs after walking in from outside! The amount of pool you get, that a toddler is actually allowed in for the £6 per adult is DISGUSTING! Travel a little further if you want a much cleaner changing room, more accommodating and friendlier staff and of course triple the amount of pool size! Described as a family swim, nothing swim about it more like let’s put other sessions on too so we can be as greedy as possible, like I said travel further you don’t get this at other EA centres. As you can imagine I will not be returning and I most certainly DO NOT RECOMMEND if you have a child under 5!

Negative experience: Disappointed with swimming lessons. Tutors are busy chatting with staff, kids are left on their own in the pool. No progress has been made during last 3 years, my child hated the lessons as water was cold. No effort from teachers at all, dirty floor, no hygiene, people wearing outside boots and kids are barefoot in the same location. Disgusted!

Negative experience: We swim regularly at Tudor Grange on a Saturday. Usually at the 12.00pm or 1.00pm slot. This is usually a very pleasant experience. However last Saturday 17 Sept 3 boys continually jumped in bat the deep end also deliberately splashing me and my disable grandson.I did report to the lifeguard but no notice was taken. One boy also exposed his rear.

Positive experience: Swimming areas nice and clean, however we have now stopped our childs swimming lessons as there wasn't enough progression. Too much toy play. Negative experience: I don't normally give bad reviews but today's experience really put me off. My and my husband decided to take our 5 months old son to swim. I checked everything online I have seen they require pre-book but as things might be a bit unpredictable with infant I have decided to just check availability before we leave the house. We have arrived at 0945 and there still plenty of available space at 10am family session. We have asked a man on the reception desk if we can pay at desk or whether we need to do it through the app. He asked if we booked and I have advised that we didn't and explained why. He said he can see in the system there is no space available. I told him I can see there are spaces and I can just book through the app in front of him. He said he can see the pool is fully booked and he cannot lat us in but I can try if I want to. I obviously was able to book but he asked us to book junior tickets for our 5 months old!!! I have checked the website later on and I can see that babies under 5 years old go free.... After I booked the tickets we wanted to go and get changed but he said we have to wait for 10 o'clock to get in..... I could see other people with children walking in (clearly booked the same time) and we were just asked to wait ... Luckily the other lady on reception desk was kind and let us to walk in . We got into swimming pool two minutes before 10am and I could see two little girls trying to get into small pool. The bodyguard stopped them straight away..... But they were allowed two minutes later, at 10am... Ridiculous.... It's not military. Rules just for rules.... The water was cold and the floor in changing areas was very dirty.... We definitely will look for other swimming pool even though that's just few minutes away from us.

Positive experience: Great place and spacious but they need more availability at pm times for the swimming Aqua classes and new powerful hair dryers.

Ayesha Iqbal 3 years ago

Negative experience: I took my children here for a family swimming session and was extremely disappointed with the facilities. The smell and dirt throughout were horrendous. The showers had mould and dirt growing everywhere and the changing rooms were also disgusting. I don’t think anyone cleans the place. The staff are also really not helpful and need to learn how to smile and be more friendly/welcoming. I felt like we all needed to shower again when we got home that’s how bad it was!!!!

Bushra Tahir Salahuddin 3 years ago

Negative experience: Swimming instructors are great with the children they really encourage and support them through the lessons BUT the only thing that let's this place down is the poor levels of hygiene! The toilets, changing rooms and general floor surfaces are filthy. I don't see anyone cleaning and I'm here every week! Get your mops and hot water people! Clean the bloody place!!! We pay a lot for our memberships and expect to be provided with a clean hygienic environment to learn in!

Fantastic experience: The staff are friendly and helpful and really good at their respective roles. I have had my children in swimming classes for years and i am very happy with their regular tutor and the staff who cover for her leave.

Positive experience: Tudor Grange Park is were dogs & I walk there at least one a week for a change. It is a good park after rain as not to much mud or large puddles. A nice park for all. Wish there was a cafe to get a drink like Bruton park

Negative experience: No clear way of knowing how the membership works. Prices are ludicrously exepensive.

Negative experience: Never ever answer the phone! You could be ringing all day and there’s still no answer…ever!

Fantastic experience: Just stopped for coffee in the café, great service, coffee and sofa seating.

Negative experience: Absolutely dirty filthy disgusting place. Nothing had been cleaned in a long long time. Toilets were the worst I’ve ever seen tiles not been cleaned in months floors had forgotten what a mop looks like soap and toilet roll holder were thick with dust. In these days of Covid-19 cleanliness should be top of the agenda and this place is going to be a hot spot of disease and a lot for people are risking catching something Avoid Avoid Avoid Should anyone from this place be interested (and I bet their not) i have photos as proof
